The Grand Thakar is a casual dining restaurant serving Gujarati, North Indian, Chinese preparations. A highly-rated place in Satellite, it is praised for its timely service and is a nice joint to visit when one is looking to satiate hunger pangs with tasty, hygienic food at reasonable prices. The staff and owner was really good and kind they serves a food to us like a family member and i really impressed with their behaviour.
I ordered a gujarati tiffin from TGT... It had enough quantity of everything and easily 4-5 people can satisfy their hunger. It had 4 types of subji in which 1 was punjabi and 3 gujarati, 1 sweet, 2 farsan, butter milk, roti, kadhi, rice, papad and salad... If you want to order-in and have real taste of Gujarati thali at your doorstep you should opt for TGT...

The hotel has an great ambience, I just loved the hotel ambience, The best test in Gujarati I have ever tried, The pure Desi test and with best quality, I just loved this hotel.
One of the best Gujarati Thali I have eaten in my lifetime. No other words for this restaurant, just go and try once. It’s an unlimited thali and there are about or more than 20 items in the thali. Includes salad, farsan, sweet, roti, sabji, kachumber, rice preparation, dal etc. Great service and quality of food. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Service is super fast. Nice and hygiene place to dine in with friends or family or solo. And I guess the thali is available only for lunch, in the evening it's a multicuisine restaurant with ala carte.
Comfortable seating arrangements with cooperative staff on a sunday is a bliss !
Though it had a huge queue on a sunday afternoon but still their services didn't fade, which makes me believe in good services and quality of food !

Service is a critical part to review these kind of restaurants because they doesn't cost us just for food but also for the service similar to a traditional indian occasion where you are forced(of course in a good way) to eat more. The Grand Thakar is at ISKCON crossroads right above Vijay sales. In their thaali they serve amazing puranpolis and faraaans that includes Dahi wadas,idada,dhokla and all.They serve some 4-5 sabjis .
The serving staff is constantly on their toes making sure we eat up to our maximum potential.
Every time I visit Grand Thakar I fill 25% of my tummy with their amazing Chaash.

We went there for Unlimited Gujarati Thali.
they have different menus for each day, They change sweets and Farsaan in that mostly.
Our Menu was 4 types of Sabji, Roti, Puran Poli, Aamras, Noodles, Rolls, Dal, Kadhi, Rice, Khichdi, Buttermilk, Raita, Ragda Petis, Vadharelo Rotlo.
All of the items were delicious and amazing. They had authentic Aamras, they server hot chapatis, and they have large no of waiters and managers to attend you so there's no delay in food.
All staff members are very much friendly.

I have been there several times.
I loved cream salad, panchratna halva, and puran puri.
Owner and staff are so polite.
Thali is good.. but have been there with family and tried punjabi food also and unexpectedly have a very good food specially when restaurant specializes in gujarati food..
I was so pleasantly surprised by this thali guys. The food turned out to be great especially the Baingan Bharta , Bajra ni Rotli and Custard Apple Basundi . Unexpectedly even the pasta was decent ( Evening of surprises ! 😅)The best part was everything wasn't sweet which is such a relief for the taste buds . I could eat and enjoy it more .

The owner is so polite and friendly.. Go for it, if you are willing to try a gujarati thali.. And if you are missing a saurashtra hospitality.. I had to literally ask the attendees to let me complete my plate before they can serve more..

Really loved the north indian food at the grand thakar . Totally loved the food and service is very good too. Loved the taste of the punjabi specially Paneer Butter Masala and Butter roti.

Grand Thakar located near ISKCON mall is one dining place where you will definitely want to go again and again! Being a gujarati , sometimes you don’t feel like eating home made gujarati food and that’s when grand Thakar comes to our mind! Now grand Thakar has become our family favourite gujarati thali joint where atleast once or twice a month we want to go there ! We have tried almost all the popular gujarati thalis but grand Thakar is for sure the one where our heart and mind is more inclined too.
Its signature dish is puranpoli (5/5) : I bet u will not have had such amazingly cooked puranpolis anywhere else , our focus is only on puranpoli when we go there
Dahi Wada (5/5): again dahi wada was sooooo soft , it just melted in my mouth and masala peanuts were used in garnishing which gave a bit of crunchines making it perfect
Sabji( all subjis are amazing ) but the ones I loved the most are Kaju gathiya and aloo sabji, their kaju gathiya sabji is just outstanding , typically Kathiyavadi taste , Aloo sabji was also mind blowing with right amount of spices and the colour of the vegetable was so vibrant that you will just not want to miss tasting it!
Accompaniments served with the thali like athela marcha, cabbage salad, dahi fruit raitu, chutneys, raw salad , all that surely works as appetizer. The best part about that place is their service , the way they serve you and feed you and constantly their owner and managers come and asks you makes you feel homely! Hospitality is the most important thing and they have scored full marks in that ! If you have NRI guests or any non gujarati guests you must take them to grand Thakar for lunch or diner , they will just love the place and food !

It included starters, 5-6 main course🍝🌯🌭🍲🍱🍛🌶 dishes along with rice and chapati, along with desserts and buttermilk🍵🍹.
The taste was splendid. I haven't tasted such amazing vegetarian recipes for a long time! All the desserts were mouthwatering, specially the payesh( kheer).😋

Someone who crave for Gujarati food who loves sweet for them its a perfect restaurant to visit.Sabzis were good enough to b not wasted and 1 could hv 4 chapatis 3 tiny puris with it.Farsan was also gud specially those tiny hot smokey samosa were splendid couldn't stop myself to hv 3 pieces. Puranpuri is a specialty here for a reason, dipped in ample amount of ghee nd a delicious sweet stuffing.The item i enjoyed the most was chocolate BASUNDI The most delicious of all, its thickness its sweetness is jst nt less than a chocolate ice cream.

Only area of improvement is they load the plate with many things even before u understand what the dish is and decide whether u want it or not. They should not serve in a hurry just because they want us to finish and vacate fast. They should give enough response time.

There are so many options in Ahmedabad for Gujarati Thali but one of my favourite restaurants for it is The Grand Thakar. I visit there often with family, friends, colleagues & clients. I once again visited there today and had ultimate dinner. Due to heavy rush on all the 7 days, the place becomes a bit congested, but I love their food so no complaints.

We had the best Gujarati Thali here. The owner was present with us and made sure we ate more than we could. They literally served us food like at home.
Service was excellent. Staff was very warm and was more than willing to fill your cups to the brim.
Everything in the Thali tasted great. This would be the place to go for Gujarati Thali if you are in Ahmedabad. We tried one by the name Mandap in Vadodara and were quite disappointed. We came to believe that Gujarati Thali itself is not meant for us ( South Indians ). But this restaurant made sure that Gujaraati Thali sits on the top of our list now.
