This place has literally more than 50 types of khichdi for every state. I tried dal makhani khichdi and papad khichdi and a very interesting mexican canopies. Mexican canopies with khichdi as filling is the most innovative dish I have tried till now. It was so delicious. Dal makhani and papad khichdi were very different. And for dessert the staff suggested me to try mawa halwa. It was the best mawa halwa I have tried till now. The service is also really good. They suggest you good options according to your taste.

The experience was great. Maggie masala khichadi was recommended by captain, which I liked. Chaas was also nice. I was not much impressed with Sabudana khichadi and found it hard and dry.

FOOD at Khichdi is light and delicious. It offers variety of Khichdis to try and I feel each one is worth it. Its not the plain boring dal chawal khichdi only but some modern twists are added as well like Mexican & Pesto Khichdi. Serving size is good enough and 2 khichdi's are more than enough for 4 people. AMBIENCE at Khichdi is pleasant and clean. They offer water in copper glasses which I found to be a plus point. There is usually waiting for table, so plan accordingly. SERVICE is little inefficient but courteous. Its affordable and VALUE FOR MONEY! Paneer Khada Masala & Gulab ki Kheer is a must try:) I leave the choice of Khichdi up to you!

I love this place for their authentic khichdis, they have some exclusive options on their menu. I never thought khichdi could have been so tasty, growing up i always thought that people ate khichdi when they were sick; but this place has totally taken away my thoughts. Taste wise the food is really flavourful and they have westernised the form of khichdi which is a complete different concept in Ahmedabad.
Baked khichdi and mushroom and pesto khichdi is one of my favourite.
Okay so went here for dinner and had to wait for a good 10 Minutes before we were being seated. A board caught my attention which read that those working in the armed forces can eat for free as they do a lot for the country. Enter the place and the place is buzzing with activity. The aroma of fresh food hits you. You are handed a menu with an plethora of kichdi options which taste amazing. I ordered for veg masala kichdi, curd rice (tair sadam), masala Papad, bhuna jeera chanch ....All of which tasted good. Slightly heavy on the pocket by Ahmadabad standards as there are innumerable places offering yummy kichdi at inexpensive prices. And in terms of quantity too the food is less. Nevertheless, a place worth visiting if you are around. You could pick anything from their menu and I am sure you won't be disappointed.

In a country as diverse as India in terms of language, culture, traditions & culinary habits, it is very difficult to fnd a single common thread among all of us. But if there one dish which finds a place in cusines from Kashmir to Tamilnadu and from Gujarat to Assam, it has to be humble; KHICHDI.
The Khichdi finds mention in the holy scriptures of India. Infact the name Khichdi is derived from the Sanskrit word KHICHHA which means a mixture on rice grains & lentils. So much that the word Khichdi has become a slang word (atleast in Mumbai) for some serious secret planning.
Khichdi originated from India right from the Vedic times & has reached the world with the travellers & soldiers from India. It was the favourite of the royalties in India who ofcourse got their Chefs to experiment with it & make it more appealing to their royal palate.
Khichdi Etc is the brainchild of Gaurav Dubey whose endeavour was to serve healthy yet tasty wholesome meal to their clients. They fiddled around with 110 varieties of Khichdi before they firmed up the 40 odd options they offer on their menu. They don't use or serve any unhealthy food items in their restaurant; so NO aerated drinks, NO maida/refined flour etc.
The ambiance is very minimalistic & simple. The seating arrangement is on proper table & chair, made from rustic but polished wood. The lighting arrangement is bright & using yellow lights keeping in sync with the colour of the Khichdi. They serve Khichdi in vessels made of Kassa & water in brass bottles & glasses.
Now coming to the star attaraction; the KHICHDI. I ordered HARE PYAAZ aur LAHSUN ki KHICHDI [INR 199] is a pungent dish for those who love the pungency of garlic. It was made up of finely chopped onions, tomatoes, loads of garlic, and garnished with lots of scallions. The dish is listed on the menu as Spicy it was nowhere close to the being spicy but the dark green chillies kept on the table came to the rescue. The Khichdi was nice, yummy and flavourful.
After consuming a bowl of Hare Pyaaz ki Khichdi, I wasn't satisfied & was craving for more. After a lot of thought & deliberations, I ordered for a TAWA BHAJI KHICHDI [INR 229]. It was a medley of loads of vegetables like baby corn, French beans, carrots, green peas, potatoes, cauliflower, and tomatoes. Healthy & wholesome, it was served topped with some butter.
But sadly it didn't have the spices which are usually used in a Tawa Bhaji hence a letdown. There has to be a differentiating factor in flavour instead of the just addition of vegetables to the Khichdi.
I was further tempted to try one of the desserts but my stomach didn't respond to the signals sent by the mind; it just responded with a burrrrrp, signalling a close to my adventure.
It is said in Hindi, खिचड़ी के चार यार; घी, पापड़, दही और अचार. Khichdi here is served with Papad, Dahi & Pickle; Ghee or Butter maybe a part of the preparation. But I surely missed was the Kadhi as an accompaniment to the Khichdi. It is such an integral part of consuming Khichdi that its absence was surely felt. I would appeal to the management to introduce & serve Kadhi along with Khichdi; sweet, sour, spicy, with or without Pakoda, anything works.
With every region across the country having its own take on the Khichdi, it would not be out of place to call it India's idea of comfort food. The range of consumption offered by the Khichdi is huge; it is often the first meal for a baby, a go-to meal when you are bit under weather, the easiest dish to cook when one is bored to cook an elaborate meal.
Whether you are a Khichdi lover or not, a visit to Khichdi Etc is a must to experience the multiple manifestations of this humble gift from India to the world.

If you like to enjoy sweet thn you must go for "shahi meva ka halva" there. Khichdi is also awesome. staff behaviour is also very polite. Better place for hygienic food.

The hare pyaaz ki khichdi is must try thing.also ordered sabu daane ki khichdi and maxican khichdi. Saabudana khichdi was a bit sweet and maxican khichdi was quite spicy. But hare pyaaz ki jhichdi is amazing.

We ordered Dal Makhani Khichdi and Mexican Khichdi. The order preparation time is quite quick and the quality and taste of food is great.

Khichdi Etc. had been on the list for too long; moreover because it promised to celebrate the humble rice and dal dish that is a part of every kitchen for dinner on a lazy evening. What could be exciting about that, we thought and held off for this long.
Apparently, there is a lot that is new. We never thought we'd enjoy a khichdi meal as much as we did. From the varieties they offer to the firangi twist they lend to the humble dish without altering its rooted flavours is what won our hearts. This place has been a revelation! If you miss home or feel like eat light or healthy, but yummy on any day, this is the place.
Our only issue was with the table. There are too many items on the table; from condiments to glasses and water. So when the plates arrived, it felt too cluttered; especially if there are two people sitting on the small two seater table. It sort of killed the dining experience for a bit, but that was only till a spoonful of delicious khichdi took over everything else.
