I was surprised at how good this thali is. Very typical, sweetish Gujarati style food. I loved the sheer variety of dishes. Quite oily and fried, but if you're eating a thali you shouldn't expect health food to be honest. The ambience is not too fancy, but the food certainly makes up for it! I actually preferred this to Gopi, which is my usual thali spot.

Since we were in Ahmedabad, we thought of having Gujarathi thali and zeroed on Pakwan!
There were numerous items served on the plate leaving you confused.
Food was great! Unlimited quantity! They served 4 veggies, 2 desserts, 3 types of farsan, etc. The only turn off was the 'aamras' which tasted more like mazza than aamras.
Ambience was good. Service was quick.

Awesome place, great Gujarati thali. A hardcore non vegetarian from Kolkata can fall in love with veg food just because of this place. Numerous items, they keep serving till you are full with food from neck to stomach. A must visit if one wants to have Gujarati food.

I was in Ahmedabad for a couple of days and was very keen on having a traditional Gujrati Thaali. I visited here on Sunday afternoon and the place was full. We were a group of four and were seated on a corner table near the window. Service is quite fast as the place operates on Thaali concept and no “menu checking and ordering” formality has to be completed. The servers are adept and quick. In a matter of minutes we had four thaalis before us with numerous katoris and tempting glasses of Chaach before us. The Thaalis had Paneer sabzi, mix veg, meethi dal, bhindi sabzi and other local main course items with pooris, kachori, dhokla, salad and chutneys. Serving continues till your stomach gives up and the staff serves patiently. I left the place with a smile on my face after a hearty meal without burning a hole in my pocket.

Delicious gujrati thali and very well served..the presentation is simple and authentic. A good spread of veg dishes curries and farsan items...dal and kadhi had amazing taste...overall experience was good..khichdi was not a part of lunch menu which wqs disappointing..

Okay Okay. It will surely satisfy your hunger if you like Gujarati food.Fix Gujarati thaali on a week day was Rs 220/- so a bit high I think.I would rather prefer "Saasuji" on C.G. Road for the same price range.

Awesome food ! Basundi was heaven, i had like 7 cups i think :P The other items were also very nice. Overall i found Pakvan to be better than gordhan. Not giving 5 coz of the farsan, wasnt upto my liking. Must eat when in ahmedabad !!

Had lunch here on a very hot afternoon. You really don't feel like having so much food on such a hot day and I had to travel a lot in the sun that day.
But once they served food the first thing that caught my attention was the Aam Ras, it looked so tempting and it really didn't disappoint
The spread was just like most Gujarati thali, the taste was quite good and service efficient.
I remember the aam ras server constantly pushing me to have more of aam ras.
Definitely worth a visit when u want a traditional thali especially in summer (because of availability of a certain food item ;-)
Awesome Foor and Services! You should not miss it! The way the communicate is awesome! But there is one minus point that they don't serve hot sabji, they would get 5 if they serve it hot!

Good food, awesome taste and execellent service with great ambience. Malpuva and dhokalas were yum! And the most imp, the bills were pocket friendly!!

Ambience - this place is a normal place like any other restaurant, but very clean. Service here is really commendable as soon as they find ur plate empty they come running and serve more and more until ur full. For service this place is 4.5 on 5 for sure.
Food - from the time they started serving every other item is new and authentic. Nothing was bad totally loved the food there. I don't even know the names. What I liked the most was srikandh omg it was totally worth it. It was gooey, sweet and I had it twice. And the next thing was kichidi I never had such amazing kichidi anywhere till now.. Everything on thali was worth it.
If anyone visiting ahmedabad please go there and have a thali u will totally love it.

Pakvan 1 located opposite VS hospital is the place I wud chose to take my non-gujju guests wen they ask for authenticity. Food is way too good. Ambiece is decent enough. The staff here keeps on serving u wit all their heart.

In terms of Gujarati thali...this is probably one of the best and the oldest places...have been a big fan of Gujarati food...there is nothing new in terms of what is offered here...a typical gujarati thali but at a reasonable price as compared to its competitors...the interiors are generally a bit messy and crowded because of which I give this place a miss at times but the quality of food overpowers that and helps you deal with it too...
the quality of kadhi here is great....better than the other places..the daal and rest of the dishes are pretty much the same as any gujarati place..a special mention to the basundi....really tasty and yumm! very fresh and probably one thing because of which at times I can eat the entire thali...!!
A must go for all thali lovers for sure!
Pakvan is Restaurant, which offer authentic gujarati thali with authentic gujarati taste.... despite it has some punjabi stuffs also there in thali, now a days it is normal...
but it has really good range of dishes... having such varity of gujarati delicasies like sweets which contains Mohanthal, Basundi, fruit salad, etc..
also have good farsan dishes like small bite size punjabi or chinese samosa, and sandwich dhokala...
it has also undhiyu, which has authentic gujarati taste, which is too good to taste....
has also some famouse gujarati dishes like mag-bhat, batata nu shak, all tasted very good....
Overall Very Good restaurant to taste Authentic Gujarati Thali.....
We don't think we can compare the food of Pakvan to any other gujarati serving restaurant. Have been to this place when it was no better than a place serving mess food in Mumbai. But now it is a place where you would take your friends, family and guest to gorge on gujarati thali. What I really like about here is the simplicity of food. One does not feel heavy after having a meal. Moreover it is very accessible being in the heart of the city, Paldi. Their other outlet is at Bodakdev, S.G,Highway, which also sees a lot of crowd. The food is just wonderful with good quality service and surroundings. It is priced decently. Our advice, "Don't misss it"

It is one best place where I have satisfied my hunger with satisfaction and tasty food. They will serve you more than 12 food items. They will serve you in small quantity but no limit on your demand again. You can eat whatever item any number of times. I like there concept of providing variety with taste and avoiding the watage of the food. The place is well maintained and hygienic. I will suggest you to enjoy the gujrati food here at very affordable price. The moong dal halwa was the best for me.

It was my first trip to Ahmedabad, check in at hotel kanak, opposite Gujarat College, will review about it as well.. but for now reviewing Pakwan Dining hall.. I was excited and curious to experience Gujarati thali. As it was my first time experience. Coming from a Punjabi family based at Indore. My tounge was used to all types of cuisine but Gujarati food was alien to it. Starting with vibe...vibe of Ahmedabad is somewhat like Mumbai or Thane. Pakwan Dining hall reminds me of a restaurant showcased in Bollywood movies of 90s in which actor and actresses goes for a mid day meal. I went here for dinner. There were few customers. Some were local, a South Indian and us. Staff was composed and soft spoken. We spoke in Hindi and they replied without difficulty in understanding. They offered us 12 different items at a price of 280 and it was full Paisa vasool. Service was fast. Chappatis were hot. I must say Gujarati food rebooted my taste buds. I experienced all sweet, spice, salt, sour, bitter at same time and each taste is balance. Staff was so attentive that they were communicating with eyes with each other, as soon any bowl turns empty another one immediately asks for refill. I almost completed all my meal without having a refill and literally enjoyed it. Thumbs up to hygiene, material used in food preparation and service. P.S. if you want salt, ask for "mitthu" in Gujarati

The dinning hall only serves Gujarati thali which are of 'unlimited' category. The place is clean, properly ventilated and has a good staff. The service is extremely quick and the prices are also very reasonable! The ambience is also good and the seating is comfortable! The taste is great and so is the variety that they serve in a single Thali. The dinning hall is pure vegetarian!
Loved the food, everything was lipsmacking in their unlimited Thali however, they also need to include limited Thali for those who would like to have light meal and are not too hungry which will also avoid wastage of food.
