A decent punjabi restaurant. Service and food quality is above average. It also has banquet hall with capacity of 50-100 persons. Fix meals options is also available.
The limited thali was a good option. The service was quick and the taste was very well recieved. One can come with a big group and enjoy the time with proper sitting and interior.

So this review is solely for their food and not the restaurant or the seating or the ambience because we got to eat their food ; courtesy, their catering services. The taste was exquisite. Not very oily or overtly cheesy. Just the perfect amount. The hot and sour soup was at par with five star restaurants. The main course was splendid. Paneer was soft and moist. The vegetables cooked perfectly. The one thing I loved most was their peeli daal and chawal. Helped myself twice with that. Also, their Chinese is not very good. Not bad, but not very good. Their manchurian balls were a tad bit dry and that's the only complaint. Good food !

Very popular restaurant in that neighborhood.. Good ambience nothing much there. Services also were good. Food quality is normal..like every other restaurant in town. There is one thing I'd like to mention, if you sit at window table...then you can have very pleasant view of whole road outside. Its very nice place.

An extra ordinary restaurant having ordinary sitting arrangements. Not even a single dish here can disappoint you. Specially the spring rolls are just too good. I have been here on many occasions and every single time found the same taste.

It was our first visit to this place without any recommendation or review from anybody.. With little apprehension abt the level of taste and hygiene we ordered for full course items. But we were not disappointed in any aspect of quality and taste of food and quantity or service. It was excellent and worth for the money they charged. Would love to visit agai.

Very good quality food and service is quick. Prices are OK. Location is near to Gandhi Ashram and Sabarmati river bank now it is known as Sabarmati River Front project. Good to visit again.

During our stay in Gujarat, we stopped at Ahmedabad on the first day and last day of our tour. We stayed in Ashray inn. Its a 3 star hotel with pretty good rooms and good hospitality.
Gujarat is a state which offers a very few non veg options and is almost vegetarian.
Here, what I have understood is that in the indian dishes the paneer used is very less and is mostly shredded into a thick oily curry and according to me all the indian curries had the same taste. The chinese here is far better than the indian fare.
Ashray inn has a restaurant too which got our mixed reviews. As expected, it is purely veg. The ambience of the restaurant is very good and the sitting capacity is around 70-75. Again, the hospitality was great.
Now coming to the food we have ordered during our stay :-
After landing we headed straight to this place at around 10 pm and had our dinner which consisted of the following items :-
1) Veg manchow soup (3.2/5)- The soup was good with hints of ginger, pieces of garlic, spring onions, juliens of vegetables (carrots, cauliflower,etc) topped with crispy fried noodles.
2) Daal fry (3/5) - The dal was good with a smokey flavour and was well charred.
3) Mixed vegetables (3.5/5) : The vegetables were fresh and perfectly cooked with a gravy which consisted of coconut milk giving the curry a mild sweetness which was good to the tastebuds.
4) Paneer amritsari (2/5) : This dish had more or less the same taste as the mixed vegetables with hardly any hint of paneer because the paneer was shredded and had some really less tiny cubes.
5) Butter naan (3.5/5) : The butter naan was very tasty and soft. They did not compromise on the amount of butter and it was so much in quantity that were were finding it hard to have it but nevertheless it was good.
6) Plain curd (4/5) : The curd here is really good. Think, smooth and not very sour.
The next day the breakfast was complementary and had some items fixed from which we chose the following dishes :-
7) Aloo paratha (1/5) : Disaster it was. Too much of amchur (dried raw mango) powder spoiled the taste of the paratha.
8) Sev pauya (4.5/5) : Pauya here is similar to 'poha' or 'chirer polau' which is generally made with flattened rice but with a twist in taste. It was mildly sweet and consisted of potatoes, fennel seeds, coriander and was topped with sev (jhuri bhaja).
9) Vegetable cheese sandwhich (3.5/5) : Nothinf extraordinary but good.
Again before boarding our flight at 6:45 am the next day we stayed here. Coming to the dinner :-
10 ) Cream of tomato soup @Rs. 70 (3.5/5) : The soup was sweet, smooth and tasty.
11) Lemon coriander soup @Rs. 77 (4.2/5) : Amazing. The soup was tangy and hot with all the flavours distinctly hitting our taste buds.
12) Makke ki roti @Rs30/piece (4.7/5) : Makke ki roti is an Indian bread made with corn which is topped with a whole lot of butter and this place mastered it. This was in their special menu.
13) Sarson ka saag @Rs. 165 (4.5/5) : This was also a part of their special menu and was again amazing. (Sarso ka saag is a punjabi delicacy,
14) Vegetable fried rice @Rs.130 (4.6/5) : The fried rice tasted brilliant and could easily beat any non vegetarian fried rice.
15) Chilli paneer dry @Rs.150 (3.4/5) : As said earlier, they gave much more pieces of paneer (precisely thick paneer fingers) than their indian paneer dishes. The dish had crunchy onions and capsicum was good to taste.
16) Gajar ka halwa @Rs.75 (4.5/5) : Ghee was literally floating and could be quite a mess for people being on a strict diet but when it is gajar ka halwa with lots of ghee, it is ought to be tasty.
Therefore in all, it was a pleasure having food at Ashray.
Theres no chargeable vat in Gujarat so the bill goes quite easy on the pocket.

But today I saw big changes in food quality and test.
They have improved food test and quality.
They have recently done some normal changes in their menu and hike the prices.
But today I found that their changes deserves that price.

The one important reason why me and my friend while catching up after long time recently, selected this place was the ambiance, space and comfort of this restaurant. Rush was normal when we entered and this was important as we wanted to chat for a good time while enjoying some delicacies. The staff was neat and courteous and service time and performance was also satisfying.
In case of the food, we selected the traditional hara-bhara kebabs to start with the sweet corn veg soup and found them to be pretty satisfying. The main course comprised of Lucknawi Tawa paneer which was medium spicy (as I wanted) and tasted decent.
Overall we had a relatively satisfying experience without burdening much to our pocket (considering the varieties we ate) and a good cozy roadside view to chat for a long time. Gave us a good 'Ashray' for a quality time...!!
This is one of those places which one would like to visit again n again. Sitting arrangement is well organized and spacious. Little noisy, but it has pleasant ambiance. Very polite staff and good service. Every food item is delicious. And very economical. Punjabi dishes cost around 120-140 which, at other places cost about 180-200 for the equal quality. I recommend punjabi food at this place, although it offers chinese, sizzlers and few continental dishes, but I never tried it. If you are in this area, this may be the best place to dine.
we went there for attending a wedding anniversary party. they have a banquet hall with capacity of 60-80 pax I think.
buffet dinner was arranged.
the quality of food was grt. all the items in the menu were delicious, I had not expected such grt quality seriously.
recommended for arranging small parties.

Rajesh Yadav (Manager) has done a perfect job very nice and honest....who took care of the little things, helped the elderly guest who didn't realize it, helped them start with shoop/statad. .. from water to hot hot food,, savias,,4th floor wedding hall arrangement,,kitchen arrangement,lift,all very nice wedding/birthday/any occasion management arrangement is commendable......

Tried the fixed lunch for 154 rupees inclusive. It consists of dal,jeera rice,2 tandoori rotis paneer gravy, vegetarian gravy, papad and buttermilk and gulab jamun (Photo provided). Every component was very tasty I recommend it although it can be slightly heavy if you have eaten already. It is good vegetarian option for people and it is very close to Sabarmati ashram
