Had the usual masala dosa, idli and vada, everything was prepared fresh and tasted wholesome, that's how south indian food makes one feel. The coconut chutney was just so well prepared, had a grainy texture, will make you have more and more.
This is a great place to have authentic south indian food in Ahmedabad.

The best and authentic south Indian food. I have tried spring dosa and masala dosa, both were delicious and sambhar taste was outstanding. I found it better than sankalp south Indian food. Ambiance and dress code of staff is also like typical south Indian.

My love for authentic South Indian food took me to Dakshinayan when I was in Ahmedabad. I can have South Indian food any time of the day, I kid you not! Dakshinayan is a small yet busy restaurant serving delicious South Indian delicacies. Their menu is elaborate and has a lot of options to try. Out of many things, what I noticed and also liked the most was their extremely courteous staff and quick service apart from the delicious food. My friend suggested me a few must try dishes, sharing a glimpse of what we had -

Mysore Masala Dosa. The dosa was thin and crispy with a savory chutney spread evenly on one side. We asked them to give aloo masala separately. Dosa was accompanied with sambar, coconut chutney and spicy garlic chutney.🤤

Bisi Bele Bhaat. It's a traditional spicy rice dish from Karnataka and is quite addictive I tell you. It is served piping hot topped with lots of ghee, garnished with nuts and fried boondi and accompanied with fried papad. Its heaven 😍😍

Nei (Ghee) Idli. My absolute favorite. Idli smeared in ghee which makes it delicious to the next level. Melts in mouth and leaves you craving for more. 😋

FOOD at Dakshinayan is traditional South Indian. The presentation is great and the food is scrumptious. One of the best South Indian restaurants I have been to. Each dish is tasty and worth a try. Serving size is very good and filling. AMBIENCE at Dakshinayan is great for Family get togethers. Their seating style is also great. Their SERVICE is amazing and efficient. Waiters carry hot sambhar jars and is very convenient for refill. The prices are high but definitely VALUE FOR MONEY. Sakrai pongal is quite unique, so a must try:)
Excellent, authentic tamil sambhar and cooked to perfection dosas and vadas! Chutneys complement the food well, pessaratu dosa was a delight too. This is a perfect place to suffice your craving for authentic South Indian food. Been to this place multiple times and the taste remains as great as the previous visit.
1. Mysore masala dosai : This giant dosa was loaded with Mysore chutney and a filling made of raw banana & other ingredients and was way too DELICIOUS.
2. Kaikari oothappam : This is basically a vegetable oothappam and was as thick and full of vegetables as it was supposed to be.
3. Nei dosai : A MUST TRY. This is a dosa made completely in ghee (clarified butter) and you can actually get the taste of ghee in each and every bite. (Just a tip : Ask them to make this dosa a bit crispy. You’ll love it more that way.)
4. Spring Dosa : Again an amazing option to go for Dosa
5. Coconut rice : Not much of a coconut fan so not the right person to judge this, but still found this nice.
P.S : The sambhar, The coconut chutney and The tomato chutney were ON POINT.
We have ordered mysore dosa n spring dosa.. Both dosa are awsome. Even we ordered pulav but its not that good. Ambience is awsome. Staff is also awsome. Overall good experiemce.
It is definitely one of the go-to places for South Indian cuisine. The Sambhar and chutneys are authentic, the service is quite quick even on a Sunday afternoon. In evenings, you might actually get a waiting of 45 minutes-that is how much the food is loved by the people. Fresh and delicious.

I tried masala dosa and molgapodi idli, I really liked their dosa. Food was fresh. Next time going to try their thaali meal and other dishes.
Hey friends.... I have been there today for dinner. It's a very good proper south Indian taste restaurant... When we plan to went ther, seriously we have not expected a very good taste. Buy after having dinner we realized that the taste was amazing. Service was also good.

Heard a lot about this place..So went for it as I m south Indian Lover. U will have here a pure South Indian taste with appropriate amount of spice and taste. Service is good. Waiters were in black lungi..That gives some more south Indian look to the place.

Had a basic - Masala Dosa and my favourite lachaparatha with curry.
Dosa was good but best part was sambar.. food balance South Indian flavour.
Only one thing to improve is ..quantity of curry with lacha paratha..

I ordered Rava Masala dosa and a filter coffee, both were upto the mark and the taste took me back to my native place. The sambar and chutneys they serve are a total Paisa vasool...

We have been there so many times. best place for south Indian food. They served authentic south Indian food with chutneys. Chutneys made by proper south indian ingredients. Definitely worth visit.
Awesome place for authentic South Indian food in town. We have been there so many times and Everytime it's paid off. We doesn't came out with disappointment regarding food. Staff was good but we have to wait so much after order even in weekdays too. Otherwise worth visit.
I have ordered idli rasam, but now they are not chatni which they were previously provided. Now service is little bit poor. So atleast provide full service.
Nice, clean and cozy place to satisfy your south Indian food cravings. The staff is courteous and friendly. The service is very prompt. We got our order in under 10 minutes. The food is very delicious. We tried a variety of dosas, all were good especially the paper dosa. Menduvada was also tasty. My star of the day was the tomato rice.
Improvement can be made in the preparation of idli, it was very crumbly. The sambhar was ok, nothing extraordinary there.
All in all a good experience.

I had ordered Spring Dosa (dosa stuffed with vegetables and garnished with cheese )and Masala Dosa along with Filter coffee !! Loved the taste . Service was good . Food was hygienic . A must visit place if you like south indian food...Amazing service...it is more of a QSR...you will find a good family crowd over here...The reason why m not giving 5 star is their cutlery...as they are using plastic cutlery...otherwise everything is upto the mark.

This place beats Sarvana Bhawan in Delhi, if you are really craving for authentic South Indian, this is your best bet in Ahmedabad, and not too expensive, for a mini masala idli and a rava kesari, it was like 350 Rs!
Visited this place before a month. Liked their ambience and seating. Their service too was good. I had tomato sevai which tasted good and quantity too was great. Apart from that, had their chaas which too was great. At the end, had their filter coffee which too i liked. Overall a very good place to have south indian food.
Couldn't find more authentic South Indian restaurant. I have had regular as well as Jain food here. Dosas, Idlis, Pongal etc. and the yummiest sambhar. I had Mysore Masala Dosa and Rava Masala dosa.

Best place to have south indian cuisine. We orders masala idli(which was tossed up with perfect blend of tomatoes and masalas), paniyaram(a south indian started goes very well with coconut chutney....must try dish over here), rava onion masala dosa,ghee doast masala dosa, pepper masala dosa. Dakshinayan has been an all time favourite ever since they were a small shop in the busy Jodhpur market area of Ahmedabad. Then we loved going to their Iskon outlet but over the last years we have not
gone regularly due to waiting! Yesterday we went to their Off CG Road outlet. Had garlic rasam, paper dosa & mix uttapam :) Paper dosa was really hugeeeeeeeeeeee!! Rasam was very delicious. Uttapam was very well made!! Full marks!! A great place to go for south indian food but yes I do miss the variety of chutney & podi that you get at Sankalp!!

Ordered mysore masala dosai and a special type of vada .. coconut grated coated with a crisp batter.
Asked for mild spicy which the cooked well.
Masala dosa was nice crispy and the dosa was crisp.
Chutney and sambhar were of great quality.
We liked the rather authentic taste .. more like a Bangaluru outlet.
We would recommend for snack.
The quantity of the vada should have been more for the price .. this is my suggestion to the management.

Excellennnnnnttt food! Haven't had better South Indian food in a very long time. Extremely courteous staff and fast service, latter being a rarity in Ahmedabad. We had Onion Masala Dosa and Mixed Uttapam followed by filter coffee and I am sure we will visit this place again soon. If I could, I'd give a 10 on 5 to their filter coffee! Keep it up guys! 😁
Not much for South Indian food but when the family does want to go out for Dosa.. this is our spot. We prefer this over the chains like Sankalp. Standard good South Indian fare!

Dakshinayan was always on my top list for my #SouthIndian cuisine craving. This time i tried it's new branch and must say it's more cleaner than its old branch.
We ordered
#GunPowder Idli: It was idli prepared in Podi powder and it was perfectly spicy. Those who like to have spicy food those must try this idli
#Mysore Dosa: a dosa with a Garlic chutney spread inside the dosa. It was perfectly stuffed for your taste buds
#OnionDosa: Onion dosa was prepared with a crisp and onion feeling. May be those doesn't wanna have anything spicy and want to have something better than plain dosa then this is for you guys
#Traditional Kanchupuram idli: This Yellow idli's are for those who like vegetable stuffing. It is a perfect taste of a South Indian cuisine
#ButterMilk : Generally we Gujjus are choosy about having butter milk but this place serve the best.
Their Chutney and Sambhar are so finger licking that you would also love to have it just like that

Looking for an authentic, clean and hygienic south indian place then go to this place. Their menu is not big as compared to other SI restaurants but whatever the serve is fresh and tasty. We ordered Rava masala onion dosa and meduvada. Both the items were very good. Though what I personally enjoyed was their sambhar and chutni. They are simply amazing! You will want to have it more. Pricewise its ok too. Definitely worth visiting this place.

You may accuse me of being biased if i tell you this is the best south indian restaurant in ahmedabad i have ever been. Your tastebuds may have different alignation but if you are someone who enjoys south indian food and can't stop thinking about your last trip to Sankalp, I would recommend this place without any reservation. Pick something on the last page of menu if you're after something authentic.
I know Sankalp has its own place in the heart of amdavadis. But this place is gonna steal that part. It happened with me.
I mean your Tamil friends are still going to patronize the food anyways. But this is the best south indian restaurant if a tour of southern India isn't on your calendar

Mysore masala dosa is an all time favourite. Quick service. But the best thing here is the onion and tomato chutney they serve, along with pretty good sambhar and coconut chutney. I gobble two bowls of tomato and onion chutney each along with masala dosa. Best chutney in Ahmedabad
Loved everything at this place right from its cozy decor to service to food. We had gun powder mini idlis, masala mini idlis, curd rice and masala dosa and liked everything.
The most amazing thing about Dakshinayan is that the taste of their food is always the same. You can eat at their restaurant in Juhu and at their restaurant in Ahmedabad and order their food home. The taste is unmistakable. The quantity is generous, the food quite authentic, and the price just right. It is definitely a go-to.

This is one of the best South Indian restaurant in Ahmedabad located in prime area of Navrangpura.
This was our 4th or 5th visit in Restaurant. Seating was comfortable & food was delicious. Waiters were courteous & helpful, food service was quick. We specially love having their ghee roast dosa and Podi Idli.
We found one hair in our dosa and manager was responsive and accepted mistake with apology. That was the only disappointment we got.
Another best place I came across for authentic South Indian food. I must say it’s great. Great taste, hygenic and great quantity.
The filter coffee is same like mangalore and Bangalore taste.

We went to have dinner at this place on a Saturday evening, despite it being weekend and crowded food was severed quickly and the taste was up to the mark.
We ordered spring dosa, chetinad plan dosa and rava onion Masala dosa they all tasted amazing, spring dosa was loaded with cheese I don’t prefer cheese but my fiancé loves it so she enjoyed it a lot.
For drinks we ordered ginger ale and it felt heavenly on a hot summer night. (A must try)
