This is a go to place for my husband and I, who miss quality South Indian food in Ahmedabad. We find this to be one of the best among the places we have tried in Ahmedabad, for South Indian breakfast.
Must try Podi Dosa❤️ idli❤️
As I live nearby from this outlet, I went there few times because in early morning I prefer lite breakfast, there were hectic surroundings of people so I thought might give a try aswell , had tried vada-sambhar and idlis-chutney with podi over the top. It was best idlis I have ever tried and sambhar was good
This place contain little seating place so mainly people take away their food or prefer eating in their vehicles
Owners of this place is well mannered and decent
So if you ever come thaltej looking for some heavy breakfast you must visit this place👍
Quality: 5/5
Ambiance: little seating place so don't expect much
Price: 4/5
I have tried all the varities over here and the taste is immpecable. Padi dosa was awesome and had awesome taste. Idli vada uttapam all have auntheticted taste.
Finally , I am at Food station and yes it is as per my expectations. Make sure to drop in early as they run out of food after 09:00 AM.
Firstly we order Idli which is very fluffy not dense at all. Idli comes with 3 toppings (Sambhar , Onion Podi Chutney And Coconut Chutney) .
After that we order Podi Masala Dosa in Ghee which is too delicious and crispy.
“Aunty na hath ma jarur kaik jaadu che”
Place is very neat and clean and hygienic.
I have deduct one point just because of their sambhar .
NOTES :
1) Closed on Monday
2) Dosas not available on Sunday
3) Jain Sambhar only available on Sunday
i would recommend this place for early risers and those who love South Indian food .
I would say best option for breakfast in ahmedabad. Often i visit this place to have healthy and hygeinic south indian breakfast. They start serving the food early in the morning around 6:00 am. And they close it around 8:30-9:00 am in morning. One thing i like about them is , they do not compromise with quality and food is same like home made food. You can see that place is too clean. Aged couple is running this shop and they cook all these things by themselves.
So here are few things that you can try there.
1. Sambhar vada - (serves on wednesday, friday, sunday)
2. Idli sambhar
3. Masala dosa
4. Podi masala dosa
5. Mix uttapam
This shop closes on every monday.
I would suggest to visit this and try their food, if you are in ahmedabad.
The best place in town for a nice breakfast!
This is my favourite place to hog onto some lip smacking ghee podi masala dosa and idlis. Their rava masala is too good too!
No other place in Ahmwdabad has come close to making good dosa and sambhar as this place.
Make sure you drop in early for they run out of food by 9 am.
One of the best and yummiest south Indian food in the city... Amazing idlis and the podi masala dosa needs no introduction... The best blockbuster menu item and worth traveling all over to this outlet for the food. Neat, clean and hygienic place. Nice place to have early morning breakfast
Onion podi plain dosa is a gem we found near Udgam School at Food station. One place that we love for our little and fast brekkie. This is only for the morning risers because they literally are sold out around 9:30 am, yes that early!! Its perfect authentic dosa with that delectable chutney which is the star !! Crispy dosa, chutney and sambhar are a pair made in heaven !! We go nuts about it !!!
They are closed on Mondays and jain Sambhar is available only on Sundays.
Idli and morning is a combo made for eachother !! You know you will have a good day ahead after a hearty breakfast like this. We had this idli topped with coconut chutney, onion podi chutney and sambhar at food station (which remember stocks out at 9:30am) we loved it !! The idli is fluffy and not dense and tastes so good with the 3 accompaniments given!! Priced at Rs. 45 is a steal deal for a healthy and filling start of the day!!!
One of the most authentic South Indian places in Ahmedabad ! Run by husband, wife and their son.!Lip smacking podi idlis abs ghee masala dosas. Their Vadas are average, may be because I like my vada crisp while they serve it dipped in Sambhar and chutney making it soft which I don’t prefer.
If you are looking for delicious South Indian breakfast, then this the place!
Please note that Most of their stuff gets over by 8:30-9 and dosas/ uttapams are not available on Sundays. On other days, Aunty makes those yummilicious dosas fresh and hot.
Must try if you like yummy light South Indian delights
One of the few south Indian breakfast places in town, Food station is being self managed by a courteous and joyous family. The mother being the Head chef, the child being the manager and the father being the joint chef the family surely adds a personal touch to each food dish prepared. Being a pretty tiny place, do not expect too much on the ambience or seating aspect. However the hygiene is surely well taken care of. On the food front we tried :
Podi uttapam - A must try here. Uttapam sprinkled with ample Podi.
Idli - As fresh and soft as it can get
Masala Dosa - A dosal lovers delight
Ghee roast Dosa - A South Indian speciality. Crispy Dosa Roasted in ghee. The taste surely leaves you spell bound.
The pricing seemed pretty justified for the quantity and quality offered.
The place opens only during the breakfast hours and they run out of stock pretty soon. Do plan your visit accordingly.
Effective rating : 4.5
Being a south Indian cuisine lover, I wanted to visit this place since long.
The podi dosas and podi uttapam are just lip-smacking over here. Idli too was good. One of those few places where sambhar is sort of left unused. One person with proper appetite would surely gobble up freshly served Dhosa in a bit!
Run by an elderly couple where the aunty herself cooks the Dhosa, this place is surely a must visit. Be sure to drop in early because they run out of stock by 8.30 am
I for sure am visiting again and again!
Very close to authentic south Indian flavors. Definitely a place to try for early breakfast lovers in Ahmedabad. The only thing I didn't like was the disposable cutlery and plates 😐
Superb breakfast place! Very clean & hygienic. Its minimalistic in terms of seating aangements & hence most suited for informal breakfast meets with friends & family! Awesome south indian food & it gets over by 9.15am so please go early! We had masala dosa, idli with podi & plain podi dosa - amazing is the word! Everything tasted so fresh! My most favourite is plain podi dosa! Loved sambhar & chutney too! Very reasonably priced! :) loved it! Will 100% keep going :)
Many of friends had recommended this place for breakfast and even really good reviews received from Family.
I am writing this review after visiting this place 3/4 times.
This joint is serving Simple, Healthy and Food like Home cooked preparations of South Indian Breakfast like Idli, Vada, Dosa and Uttapam.
They have very simple ambience or say few stools and tables to seat. From taste it seems the owner belongs from Tamil Nadu.
The Quality and Quantity both are really good and Taste is the only thing that will push you to go there again and again since it's very hygiene and clean. ❤️
The Pody chutney they are using is their speciality.
I had tried their Dosa, Uttapam, Idli and Vada. All were so good!
Price you may find bit over but worth to pay for such food.
Giving 4 star to this place is only reason The owner is not much friendly or not even greets you. So sometimes you fill very much arrogance and rude. If they give a little smile the place will rock!
Else it's 5/5 food place.
Food: Quality and taste 5/5
Ambience : No need to bother they have own charm 3/5
Behave: may Greet or smile 2.5/5
Price: 3.5/5
The description satisfies the vibe; Homely South Indian Food. Definitely one of the best south indian breakfast places to go.
Only con- the timings. You are late and you might not get some of the dishes on the menu to eat.
Great experience!
I've been coming to this place for the past 2 decades. Never once I've seen the slightest change in the flavours. You'll find plenty of similar pictures on social media as thats the way the food is served always. Uncle & aunty also remembers your choices unless you want something different, you don't need to order. I love the old songs playing on the radio while having an early morning breakfast. It's closed on Mondays.
5 star is also less for this
Food station - taste of tamilnadu
Authenticity guaranteed
Wish to have authentic South Indian this is a place to rely on !
Must have
Tue, Thursday, Saturday-ghee podi masala dosa, ghee masala dosa, coconut podi uttapam, idli
Wednesday, Friday, Sunday- vada-idli & everything else mentioned above !
Keep up the good work team !
Place is good but it's too hot in summer but it nice place some cool stuff also available I always liked good Mexican food and balan dosa pav bhaji pulav also some juice good in summer and in last shot jammun shot also chocolate shot and so many shots are their must have to try
If you're a foodie, live in Ahmedabad and haven't been here then let me tell you, you r better off withdrawing the foodie tag...
I'm rating this place purely basis the taste of the food... It's just that the food is so great that I'm not even bothered about the ambience and service...
I won't say they serve authentic dosas BUT what they serve is authentic and unique in their own way and style... Standardization is amazing... you get the same taste everytime u go there and so you're never disappointed...
One of the finest, unique and tastiest idllis and dosas around in town ...A favorite breakfast joint for me and I recommend it to one and all...
Must try their idlis and cheese onion masala dosa in ghee... just amazing...
Keep it up! One of the few places in Ahmedabad that serves great quality good which has a consistent taste at a value price...
Please don't judge this place basis the seating arrangement! The food is worth the wait and the seat...!
Idli at Food Station, Nr. Udgam School
The simplest pleasure of life. Idli was soft and danedar. I am die-hard fan of their podi chutney. The coconut chutney and sambhar are very simple yet amazing.
Most authentic dosa, uttapam, idli and vada. Their speciality is podi chutney and podi flavour of everything. Simple but best sambhar. (In the pic: podi onion dosa). Pocket friendly butind their timing, they only serve 6.30 to 10 AM.
Place: Food Station, Near Udgam School, Thaltej
Price Rs. 50/-
Taste: 5/5
Value for money: 4/5

Ah! What can I say about this place! Its my favourite breakfast place in town. They serve the best and most authentic South Indian Food in Ahmedabad. Food Station is small kiosk which is situated near Udgham School, Thaltej and this place is open in mornings only. They start at around 6 and most of the days they are sold out by 10 AM. This place is run by an amazing couple with perfect coordination possible. Its a great way to start your day.
Okay so foood now!
I have tried almost everything on their menu. Starting from Idli, Vada to different dosas including podi dosas and delicious Uttapams. Loved and enjoyed each one of them. So their speciality includes Podi Dosasa which are normal dosas with podi masala spread and they are different served in different varieties like onion, masala, cheese onion, cheese masala. Everything there is worth a try. They are quite reasonable speaking as a college student. They serve Vada thrice a week only. Their vada is different from others as it is made with bottle gourd and daal mixture. Cheese dosas here are amazing as well. As I cannot rate individually I would give average rating of 4.5 to all the items on their menu.
*Highly Recommended* If you are an early bird or a breakfast person or a South Indian food lover.
P.S.- I don’t have picture of all the products on the their menu.
best place for a early morning huger . if your looking for a good test and good quality of food must go to these place food test is like your's house's food test like.
I had been wanted to try food of Food Station for a few years, but only last Saturday I got to tried their food. My sister who lives near it got me take away for the breakfast at home. I haven't been to Food Station, so not eligible to comment on their service and ambience part. The packaging was neatly done.
Now coming to the food part
There were two Dosas and a Cheese Mix Uttapam. One Dosa was Podi Masala Dosa(their specialty) and the other one was Onion Sada Dosa. Podi Masala Dosa and Cheese Mix Uttapam were delicious(delicious word can't justify its taste). One of the best Dosas and Uttapams I have ever had in my life, in fact I can say the best I ever had. Onion Sada was just okay in compare to Podi Masala Dosa. I found Smabhar and Chutney ordinary, but you can relish Dosa and Uttapam without them and still you would love it.
Must try for the breakfast.
Amazing podi dosa ... one of their crispiest podi plain dosa , place is ordinary but sodas are extra ordinary . Fluffy n soft idlis definitely worth trying . Sambhar is however not meeting the expectations but chutneys are tasty. If u are lover of South Indian food definitely worth trying. It’s quite busy in mornings and u might need to wait for average 15-20 mins so ensure you reach by max 8:30am .
Amazing! The most favourite ❤️ the best South Indian breakfast in Ahmedabad and very much hygiene.. a must go for new kind of taste in dosa that is podi dosa
Nice food
Authentic South Indian test
Visit the place early in the morning by 6:00 am to 8:00 am
After 8,no dosa or uttapam available as they have limited stock of those
Try
On regular days
Podi masala/onion dosa
Coconut podi uttapam
Onion uttapam
Mix uttapam
Idli
Vada sambhar(only Wednesday /Friday/sunday)
On sunday

Good dosa and idli plate. Podi masala dosa is good to have. Idly chutney could have been better. Overall food food but little crowded in morning
Finally been at this place. The owner is very soft spoken and welcoming, his wife makes dosa's her self.It shuts at 10.30am sharp, not because they don't want to serve, but because all the batter they have is over by the time it's 10. All we got was Plain dosa, a plate of Idli and Podi dosa, amazing is the word for all that we had.A must visit and a must try
Update on 07 Dec 17: They stopped serving Dosa and Uttapam on Sunday.
_----------_--------__------
I used to have South Indian breakfast in my tenure in Pune like Butter Cut Dosa, Set Dosa. I was missing those South Indian flavour in Ahmedabad. 2 months back, one of my friends suggested this place and I was up for this though it's 20 mins drive from my house. And since then, I became frequent visitor. You can find me there on most of Saturday morning.
I loved Podi Masala Dosa, Idli Sambhar and Vada Sambhar.
This is a small place run by family. If you go after 9:00 AM on weekends, you may not get Podi Masala Dosa but you will get other options.
Worth to wake up early and visit.
So i visit it place once a month or more. They serve a very decent breakfast and I enjoy this place for its consistency. There are few complaints but i can live with that, I'll mention them head on and then move to the good part.
1:Sambhar is very average and its served in small cups
2: owner is rude. I have learnt to deal with him over time. I joke about his anger issue now, "he serves a plate of attitude and arrogance with every dosa"😅
3:is not comfortable
4:pricey
The good bits:
Clean
Hygienic
Tastes good
The idlis are amazing, vadas not so much
The podi plain dosa is the best dish(tastes better in oil, as they use salted butter which overpowers all other flavors)
Mix uttapam is good too
It has always been extremely difficult for me to get up early, so on my first visit to Food Station, I was kinda hoping not to like the place as it only serves breakfast. But after hearing such good reviews, I knew I was in trouble! :P
Started off with the basic: Idli. Two pieces of soft, moist and fluffy steamed Idlies (rice cakes) topped with freshly tempered coconut chutney and spicy, grainy Podi along with a small serving of Sambhar. Being a HUGE fan of Podi, always look forward to it at any South Indian serving joint. Food Station has a very different one as compared to the others as it chunkier, grainier and spicier. Loved the taste, one of the best infact, but wish it was a little finer. No complaints though :)
Checked out the list of Dosas and ordered their Podi Masala Dosa (ofcourse). The best Dosa EVERRR! Buttery and crispy from the outside, while being soft and fluffy from the inside and having the perfect amount of Masala and Podi in between, a kind which is so hard to get at any other Southie restaurant. The first time you tear a bite from that Dosa, it is going to add a smile to your face for sure :D
Go early to avoid rush. This place is worth going and is a well deserved 5/5!
I dont like south indian, still i love food station ...
Awesome cheese podi dosa..
4.5 for non availablity of dosas on Sunday ...
I love South indian food.........serves dosa, idli , vada, utappa, .....try podi dosa..... new taste..... must try .....good and clean place for breakfast......
Very hard to find, but we nailed it. :D Lets Solve the location query. Reach police station, Thaltej and take the road adjacent to it and take a right at slope and after that you got the location i mean hidden treasure for Southindian food lover.
As we are unlucky we doesn't get those wada-sambhar. Its Sold out. :(
Come to food, We ordered Idli, Mix Uttapam, Onion Podi Dosa. That Podi is too awesome. "char chand laga diye"
Three of them were mouthwatering.
A Genuine Authentic South Indian taste i felt.
And best thing NATURE of Duo (Uncle-Aunty) - Polite, Lovely, Friendly.
MUST GO HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
OVERALL REVIEW
FOOD- 5/5.
AMBIENT- 3.5/5.
SERVICE-5/5.
PRICING - NOT SO COSTLY.
You get paper thin crispy dosas anywhere in north Indian but the thick and soft yet crispy are only available in Karnataka. Davangere dosa is what came to my mind when i took a bite here. Really gladto have found such yummy dosa place. The coconut podi uttapam is what we loved the most. But rest ofthe items were equally good. The sambar has the homemade taste and so i put it on top of mygo to places for breakfast.
A very small south indian cafe located near udgam school.. Cafe timings are little odd as it just remains open in morning and once stock is finished restaurant gets closed.. Cafe is managed by 3-4 person and food is made by a lady.. Don't try to judge this place on their ambience but do try it judge on food they serve..
I tried to visit this place many a times but every time I found place closed because of finished stock.. Today I visited at sharp 9 in morning I found this place open.. Was happy to see it open.. I ordered Idli Sambhar.. Idli was very soft.. Served with chatni and a small bowl of sambhar.. Chatni was given in sufficient quantity but I found Sambhar's quantity little less as it was too small bowl of it.. Overall taste was good.. It can be considered as pocket friendly breakfast place..
Its a very nice place to have south indian food. They have limited menu but the food taste's great. The place is run by an elderly couple very good at heart. If you are planning to visit the place than try to reach at least by 6:30 am. I had tried onion and tomato uttapam, idli and vada. I found it little expensive but its the only place i found for good south indian breakfast at early morning.
This is an amazing place to have delicious South Indian breakfast. Don't judge by its location and size. It's little tough to reach since the map provided in Zomato lands you at wrong place. All that you have to do is reach the police station, Thatlej and take the road adjacent to it and take a right at dead end.
You have to reach the place as early as possible bcos most of their items gets over by 8:30-9 am.
Must try: podi Idli and the onion dosa with butter. It's a feats to your taste buds. The podi adds that extra flavour which makes it little spicy and interesting 😀
Its a value for money and a place to repeat for all the foodies😀
You won't get any better place to have South Indian Food in Ahmedabad than this one. The Dosas are super yumm.. Especially the one's with Podi. Try out Podi Uttapam and their Vadas too. Make sure you reach before 8 to enjoy everything they offer.
After a disappointing visit on Saturday at 9:15 AM (they had no food left), we finally managed to make it there a little early at 8:15 on a sunday. Only to find out we were yet again late for the wada as that was sold out.
We decided to try some of the other offerings they had and ordered idli, masala dosa and podi onion dosa. The food is quite good. It wasnt extra ordinary but yes one of the better places for south indian food in ahmedabad.
Where has this place been hiding all this while?
A small place in the lane besides Udgam School, this place is a winner!!
Why don't they just call it the South Indian extravaganza?
The Vada Sambhar is good. The Vada isn't your usual one, with a small round in the centre. It's a small ball served to you in a bowl with the usual sambhar and chutney along with a red spicy chutney.
Coming to the dosas now.
The Podi Dosa - Wow!! Wasn't it something now? Very well made. Very South Indian! That was the best part really. The Podi which is Chutney Pudi for al the South Indians, was not the usual stuff. But tasty for sure!
The Masala Onion Dosa - They had laid the masala out across the dosa which is very unlike an actual Masala Dose (Dosa), but it tasted like an actual one. So what difference does it make?
Great food! Great prices!
Would love to see this place get a few more tables and a little more hygiene in and around it.
And yes, increase the number of people working there! The place has great potential.
What helps them stand out as of now is their limited resources and limited stock everyday!
It's open for a short while in the morning. That's it! As they say, 'The early bird catches the worm', it holds true here!
Get up early and eat here!!
Whenever i have urge for south indian food in breakfast, always visits food station. Opening hours are only in morning which is very sad but food is very special :)) Idli sambhar can't be better then this, coconut chutney need to be more thick. 😋😋
Ultimate breakfast solution!!! You've probably heard of the early bird catching the worm. Well you'll have to be one if you want to taste food station.
They serve amazing south Indian food which is so rare in Ahmedabad. It's homely and delicious. They make amazing idli's which is served with mouth watering coconut chutney. Unlike other so Called "south indian" restaurants they make coconut chutneys with COCONUTS and not using pulses or anything. Anyhow, great place! Must try!
Especially for the south Indians out here in Ahmedabad who feel home sick, Food station is the exact getaway breakfast spot you need.
Had been to this place many times before but just skipped off to write but today morning I visited again and it was as gud as its always. 5/5 for cleanliness 5/5 for Hospitality 3/5 quality ... Because I love thick chutney and they give liquid one... 4/5 taste... Sambhar taste was not that fascinating... Overall good place for a breakfast... And must visit for South Indian breakfast
I can never ever think about writing negative about this place! The food, especially the dosa and the idli are wow! And plus the molgapudi served with the idli along with the coconut chutney is a match made in heaven. Extremely pocket friendly and one dosa can easily fill you up! Great job!!👌👍
Finally a place to have breakfast, in Ahmedabad! Good quality food, and great taste. Though, a little pricey but then again food in Ahmedabad is expensive! But This place is surely worth the money.
Happy Morning is the one when you enjoy the silence around and feed yourself well!
That's what I planned to do today and drove myself to Food Station- breakfast place which has been on top of my food bucket list since a long long long time!
As they claim, they serve fresh and homely south Indian food. They keep up the every single word they have written on their board.
I feel these guys have crossed a level where we can REVIEW them...so here I am putting an APPRECIATION post! smile emoticon
Loved everything about them- food, hygiene maintained at place, uncle and aunty duo...everything. Also this place does prove that if you serve quality, location of the place (in terms of visibility) doesn't matter. Their personal attention to each and every order is commendable (especially when they are running this place on their own- with hardly one staff's help)
What a podi it was- the best podi have ever had till now and of course the chutney and idli was as fresh as it could be!
Looking forward to visit them soon to try their other offerings!
This one is the only bang on place for south indian food in ahmedabad. Early mornings are sorted with mouthwatering breakast, hot steaming idlis, podi (powder) masala dosai, and mix uttapam is my favourite. Sambhar is very simply made with a hint of methi and tomatoes but very delicious. i can go there daily :)
For me this is the best place in town for South Indian cuisine. Food quality is great and so is the hygiene.
ALERT 1 : If you are planning to go on a weekend, shoot for early morning (opens at 6 AM). Becomes too crowded as the day progresses.
ALERT 2 : Owner aka Uncle gets a bit flustered during peak hours, esp. during weekend. Please bear with him, he's good at heart... :-)
This place is clearly one of the best in the town to have south indian food. I loved the idli sambhar. Sambhar was superb and idlis were damn soft. Jus perfect!!! kinda same as they serve in the south india. M looking forward to try their other items too. I saw the making of the onion uttapam but din have it as i was a bit full to have anything else after the idli sambhar. The way it looked i can tell thats gonna be tasty too. M surely goona put a hell lot of visits to this place. You should too. ...;)
N yes dnt forget this place is open only in the morning. (Uptil 10:30 am o jus a lil beyond that depends) as the owner uncle said :p
This place reminds me of real south indian food I had @my south indian buddy's place.... The kind of masala and the genuineness of taste always made me to visit there again and again. Ithe only minus point of the place is its running time, I.e morning... I wish it stays open through out the day, I can bet, it will grab more attention of foodies ....
The place is open only in the morning. But its worth it. Visited twice now. Had idlis and dosas. The idlis are nice and soft. The podi chatni and sambhar are delish. Wake up and walk over to this place and then decide for yourself.
Got introduced to this place today morning while looking out for a place to have breakfast !! This place is a little jewel hidden in a quaint little lane !! We were 9 of us and yes seating is a bit of an issue, but hey who's complaining if the food is lipsmacking good !! We just walked up to place the order but the owner politelu informed us that he'd run out of the Masala for the Masala Dosa's and so our order was a Mendu Vada, Idli, Podi Sada Dosa, Cheese Podi Sada Dosa and Mix Uttappam !! The Mendu Vada, I haven't seen a place do a Mendu Vada quite like these people, a bowl with the sambar and coconut chutney and the vada the soaking in all the combined flavours, topped off with the " Putt " chutney, soft deeply satisfying and a delight to eat !! The Idli, perfect texture, soft, got a goof crumb, thie felt like soul food !! The Podi Dosa's and the Uttappam were amazing amazing, the crunchy dosa's, with the spicey mix lined on the inside and the richness of the cheese coming through, whilte the Mix Uttapam, again soft, perfect texture, the flavour from the onion, tomatoes, as they've cooked on the flat top permeates the Uttappam itself, delicious mouthful each time !! Now i'll talk bout the supporting elements in each of the above dishes, the Sambar, the Coconut Chutney and the Putt !! Sambar, seriously, a big bowl of this and i'd be more than happy, one of the best sambar's in town, 2nd only to the kne mum makes at home !! Subtle flavours from the spices, the curry leaves, complimenting each of the main dishes this place has to offer !! The Coconut Chutney, albeit slightly runny, but the flavours were all there, from the bagar of the mustard and curry leaves, I was literally nust relishing spoonfuls of this stuff !! The Putt, yeaa a much coarser version of what we make at home, simple thing, with roasted gram dal, and some chilli powder, coarsely ground and mixed with a little coconut oil, this thing packs a lot of flavour, they serve it with everyone of their main offerings !!
If you want to some good south indian food that makes you all warm on the inside and feel comfortable, this is the place to be at !! 4.8 outta 5.0 !!!
Aah! Even imagining the idli we get here makes my mouth watery!! :-D
of course we love south-indian food so much. but getting the quality chatni and sambhar is rare everywhere except in the south itself. the idlis too are soft and are with perfect aroma. This is the magic of home food!
the dosas are a bit roasted. it almost becomes like a papad. may be that is how ahmedabadis like it. i like it more softer.
the owner family has given detailed focus on most important aspect of food catering, i.e., taste, hygiene and service.
but the food is costly given the fact we don't get a place to sit everytime and at times we will have to manage eating on your feet. There is huge space crunch in and outside the shop. given the vip area, people don't mind paying the price for good food. but honestly, it is indeed on a costlier side for the wallets like mine who is looking for good morning breakfast at around Rs.20. Well, we don't get anything other than Poha at that price. Isn't it?
lovingly yours
dear aunty, uncle and their beta
When you are too lazy to cook in the morning ! But want to eat something fresh and healthy ! Food station is the perfect place to be :) awesome food ! Seating maybe a bit of a problem ! U could hear old songs which adds to some peoples pleasure
nice place for a good south indian food...
me being from tamilnadu.. was missing my south indian breakfast so badly... then i found this place. it is being run by a family. father, mother and their son run it. They just have a couple of table and few chairs put in front. looks like a small road side eatery, but neatly maintained. i have ordered for veg. utthappam. may be since there was little crowd the utthappam was little uncooked, still, it was good. but i felt the price was little high (90rs per utthappam is too much, as u get them for 30 or 40 rs in chennai).
sadly here in ahmedabad, the term south indian food had become synanimous with only idly and dosa. (can i get pongal, kozhaputtu, adai, idiyappam.... somewhere?)
What happens when you wake up early and have nothing to do ?
HUNGER !
Breakfast at that early hour with parents seemed a good thing to do! Had eaten before from Food Station when they were a wagon...! Lately hearing from friends, made me want to try it. Also, parents are big time idli-dosa enthusiasts!
Parcelled away :
Bataka poha : as available at every corner of the city in early mornings, this was well made and fresh.
Onion podi dosa : gosh ! I personally ain't a fan of dosas, but this one won my heart over ! The crisp yet soft dosa with a podi powder, made for a really yummy breakfast !
Wada : 2 huge balls of vadas floating in a thin liquidy sambaar... This has been my favourite since quite few years ! I drizzle some imli-chutney (not sure why ) and devour it !
Their chutney and sambhar are a bit runny but so yummy ! Freshness is their fortè for sure '
Uncle - Aunty who manage the place have a passion for food, which is quite evident when you interact with them !
Do try if u haven't yet...... Make sure to be an 'early bird' in the literal sense! They get sold out very fast !!

The best South Indian food one can get in Ahmedabad . The dosas are amazing, podi masala is the specialty and is very delicious. The only drawback is that they are open only in the mornings. The food though is amazing and very reasonably priced.
A very small place managed by a couple but food quality is awesome. Great place to have breakfast in the morning. Doesn't offer too many options on the menu but whatever they cook, they make it with lot of passion.
Only two reviews for the best south Indian joint in Ahmedabad?? Really unfair!! I have been this places 100 times for breakfast, and i have visited almost all south indian joint of Ahmedabad..this is the best joint without doubt.
In earlier years, uncle and aunt used to serve this on food wagon opposite to Thaltej tekra garden. Before few years they shifted to small shop, just opposite to udgam school. Everything is just awesome... Vada sambhar, Uthappam(made only on sunday i guess), Podi masala dosa, masala dosa...everything 5/5.
I am in Mumbai since last 1.5 years, and still missing this place..even I tried legendary cafe madras of Mumbai, and still I consider this joint as best south-indian i ever came across.
Gosh this place serves like homemade fresh food! No matter what you order for it doesn't taste the commercial kind. The place is very basic and has only several pods to sit on but the food is clean and energetic!! A must place is you are the kinds who'd love south Indian breakfast...
Finally... good to see this place on Zomato... Awesome South Indian delicacies they serve... I've been to many South Indian restaurants, but my taste chords never struck by this kind of nodes of food and didn't produce this sort of delicious melody :D .I've had idli and Uthappam here ,but never got chance of eating Dosa because by the time I reach to this place it is already consumed by people who've got superpowers to get up early :D .Sambhar served here is also too tasty which completes each delicacy they serve. They serve podi with each dish and I just love it and it is too tasty. I don't know if it has the same taste as it is in the south, but it tastes good which is the only thing that matters to me. Tables and chairs are placed if you want to sit else just take away and enjoy your breakfast at home. It's a must go place, I feel had it been open in the evening too it would be awesome. A humble man runs this place and although he is likewise busy with orders , but still listens to each customer politely and carries a smile always.Highly recommended.
