Time effects all but this place has been the same. This place situated in the busy streets of rewadi bazaar. This restaurant is very old since time of my grandfather and they also liked to went here to eat puri Shak and majoon. It's become tradition in our family that if we are going to Azad then our order will be puri Shak and majoon.
Puri Shak - Puri Shak might look full of oil but aroma of crispy puri with potato Shak is enough to enjoy this flavourful dish.
Magji Majoon - Majoon is a dry fruit and Mawa based sindhi sweet. It's too heavy and rich. Perfect dessert for winter. Azad Jake Majoon nahi khaya to kuch nahi khaya!
Food is really good but if you are looking for ambience then don't even try because there is no such thing. I came here since my childhood and I observed that once a table is empty waiters will come, clean the table, refill jug and steel box which had onion, pickle, lemon slices and green chillies. The serving staff is more decent then you expect from a place such as this.
Eating here was a great experience!
Located in a lane off Relief Road. Beware there is a newer "Azad Sweets" before the original one. Had Puri-Shak, quite good. Pic attached. Meals can be packed (to take on the train for e.g.).
Second visit Dec 2019. Had Aloo Methi, Very good, well cooked and tasty. If you are in Ahmedabad and are tired of khaman, dokhla, gujarati thali etx try this place. Pic attached.
Third visit Jan 2020, yes I kind of like this place. Had Undhiyu & puri. Quite good, but different from the undhiyu available in Surat. Pic attached.
Fourth visit Mar 2020. Had Aloo Bhindi Masala. V good. Bhindi and Aloo were cooked just right, aloo was buttery soft, bhindi was not over cooked. Masala was good, to my taste, not too punjent. Had Shahi Falooda, did not care too much for it. Prefer regular falooda. This one had too much of chopped fruit and the quality of ice cream was not too good. Pics attached as usual. This restaurant is a worth a visit if you are in Ahmedabad.

This place is very old and serving delicious puri shaak. Must try majum here unique sweet. Iβm big fan of this place and love their food. Must visit.

One of the best Puri Shak and Mazum you can get into old city.
This is one of my favourite place in Ahmedabad , specially for Puri bhaji .
Their other varieties are also must try atleast once. Dal Pakvan and other mithais.

I was recommended to try the sweets at Azad on my Ahmedabad trip this time. Got myself three boxes packed!
The lady who seemed to be the owner was extremely polite and literally made me taste all the sweets that I wanted to try and also answered in detail, with great excitement, any of the questions asked to her. Lovely service, great taste! Interestingly, I bought few of the sweets I am already aware of and have been consuming them for a really long time, but the same ones tasted refreshingly better at Azad.

But the store location in Kalupur, off Relief Road, is in a very narrow lane. Would recommend going there in day time, especially if travelling alone.

Best shop in Ahmedabad for sweets and snacks.
I took sev tamatar and chapati from here. The food was delicious and the behaviour of the staff was very nice and friendly. The service was fast. I will get my food everytime from here only whenever I will be near Ahmedabad Railway station in future.
Great place for poori bhaji. The poori has very less oil - something difficult to find in Ahmedabad. Only problem is the location and the restaurant is itself quite cramped. Cleanliness can be taken up a notch. Overall : Good
