My love for kachori has always been never ending. One more stop works as a super saver for kachori cravings. Loved the kachoris to core! Mirchi vada are a top on to these kachoris...this snack can be had at the any time of the day or night!
Consider it 3.5 due for the service but taste was definitely 4.
Since my visit to Jodhpur I keep searching for pyaj kachori and mirchivada in Ahmedabad. Lot of people suggested this place for the same. So got a chance to visit this place few weeks ago, early morning opening hours(believe me that is the best time to visit any place). And upon reaching there, we got just-fried piping hot mirchi vada. Mirchi vada to be honest were not as per my expectations as it has thick layer of mirchi and less of stuffing. By that time they were preparing Pyaj kachori in front of our eyes it was a treat to witness that preparation process. Kachoris were very delectable and definitely must must try for all pyaj kachori lovers. Though comparatively (with jodhour one) I found the stuffing here had more of alu and less pyaj in it. We also risked to try their mawa kachori which we were informed that they are not fresh but we gave it a try because we are a biiiiig sweettooth. Of course it wasn't as crunchy as fresh but glad that Ahmedabad has place that serves mawa kachori. Overall very good experience. Be prepared for a bit rude behavior by the owner.
Well, if you want to have authentic Rajasthani Pyaaz Kachori, Mung Daal Kachori and Mirchi Vada this is the place to have it. Their kachoris and mirchi vadas are actually the best I have ever had in the city, it actually teleports you to the neighbouring state. All their items are properly stuffed and are nominally priced: INR 20 each.
Mertiya Sweet House is based in Pali, Rajasthan and is over 30 years old, their Ahmedabad outlet is about to complete 10 years of operation.
In slide # 6 you can find Mava Kachori which is a sweeter version and in the next slide Mr. Roshan who is the owner of this outlet, he is one the friendliest person I have ever met, he was very courteous.
Awesome Pyaaz kachori and Mawa Kachori in the town. Rabdi laddu must try. Visiting this place for many years still the taste is same ... great !
Today we ordered pyaaz kachori n mirchi wada in our office.. They have delivered with proper packing from shahibag to PRAHLADNAGAR.. Mirchi wada is simply superb... Stuffing was great n taste wise awesome.
I have never eat such kind of mirchiwada...
Mertiya Sweets now has become one of the major outlet for Sweets aspecially Rajasthani Sweets. Rabdi Laddu, kaju Katli , Phini are always mouth watering. I am fan of it's Kachori.
What is the difference between Samosa & Kachori?
(1) Samosa is videshi whereas Kachori is swadeshi.
(2) It is just a difference in shape. Outer shape of Samosa is triangular whereas outer layer of kachori is circular. Therefore a samosa becomes kachori if it changes its shape.
Well, while returning from duty, Shahibaug always reminds me of shining star snack of Rajasthan ...i.e. Kachori especially Pyaz Kachori...I was just to approach Shahibaug Bridge from Rajasthan Hospital, I saw one signboard "Mertiya Sweet" and one cook frying Kachoris. And it was a stop.
I ordered most sought Pyaz Kachori which was freshly made. This kachori was bigger than a palm. It was Served with tangy tomato sauce & mint chutney. wooow.....With a great balance of Indian spices mixed with mashed onions and potatoes, it was heavenly taste in itself with flaky outer layer and chutneys.
एक कचोरी तेल मे, सारे तोड़ी जैल मे. this was a famous lines during the freedom struggle of India. While the meaning is exactly now known (please comment if any body knows), this delicious snack item of Rajasthan was made popular by Rajasthani Traders migrated to other parts of India. Therefore, most of the famous kachori joints have flourished either around Bazaars dominated by Marwari Traders or their settlements.
Apart from Pyaz Kachori, numerous versions of kachori has evolved. For e.g. Hing Kachori, Mogar Kachori, Mawa kachori (Sweeter version) from Rajasthan. While all kachoris of Rajasthan are made from Maida, Banaras Kachori is made from whole wheat flour. Banaras Kachori is so flavorful that it does not require to be served with any kind of chutneys.
Bengal has mutter kachori, whereas Bihar has litti kachori...Gujarat to has its own version of kachori called Lilva Kachori.
So if you are passing through Shahibaug Bridge, I suggest you to visit Mertiya Sweet House, located just opp. Sujata Flats. You can also try their Cranberry Halva...its delicious.
One of the best places for Kachoris
Chutneys were too good especially green chutney
Rajbhog kachori was too delicious, well blended dry fruits nd moong dal halwa in stuffing

These ratings are solely based on the pyaaz ki kachori i tasted at maertiya sweet home !!

Best quality shop for sweet lovers, had been there several times, Specialist for pyaz kachori and mawa kachori,
every sweet item here is full of test, lot of testy yummy sweets rasgulla, rasmalai. laddu, high light of shop is rajasthani sweets.
But still needed a improvement on some sweets , also it has maintained the taste as . could get better if concentrated properly. but over all good experiance
Famous for its pyaaz kachorie and rabdo n ras malai....
Pyazz ki Kachorii ???????? just so yumm... Its speciality
The most authentic onion kachoris in entire Gujarat if I must say. Take a bite of these deep fried goodies and you will be taken to the streets of Jaipur or the thelas of Ajmer. The taste is that good. Make sure that they are not piping hot or else you won't get the exact taste of the mixture. Apart from that they also serve mirchi vadas which is a shocking omission from the other shops in Gujarat. This joint won't let you miss Rajasthan. That's a promise. So take out some time and treat yourself to some spicy tangy kachoris. A huge thumbs up.
Excellent taste in all stuff
