Looking for Pocket friendly authentic Punjabi food? This is the place you ought to come. Been a regular since pretty long time, their quality of food has been pretty much the same. Their Dal Makhni is lip smackingly good.
The quantity is pretty much justified for the value for money charged.

Super food.. ordered a dal makhni,Palak paneer, lachha parantha and onion kulcha.. everything was perfect and taste was authentic.. bilkul Punjab ke top ke dhabe jesa taste.. 👍
The taste of food is very much good and the service is also quiet good and fast. Also its cheap and affordable. One must visit for a desi style food.

Sunday lunch special of Chhole Kulcha is delicious and the winter special sarso ka saag and makke di roti is a treat. Its as authentic preparation as I have had in actual north India. Yumm!

This is like a real dhaba just not placed in the dhaba environment. The food reminded me of the authentic punjabi taste from the food I had in Amritsar. The manager uncle was a bit cranky but can completely overlook that as he had to manage such a huge diwali rush. And even when it was so crowded the taste or quality wasn't compromised at all.

The set up of this place is typical small old fashioned restaurant, but make no mistake in judging that food will also be like that. I found this place the best for authentic Punjabi food as they serves all varieties of Punjabi subjees less oily and spicy.
You can have tandoori parathas with thick lassi for quick bite. Punjabi pakoda kadhi and paneer kulcha are my favourite order. Dessert lovers shouldn't miss kheer for happy ending of the meal and you will always find value for money you have spent.
So guy's next time you want non-indulging meal which should be light on your pocket and satisfy your taste buds without stressing your stomach, Maharishi Dhaba is an ideal choice.
Sunday special Amritsari kulche with chole is the specialty of this place you must try... And if you all other items like paneer it's feels like you are in Punjab and if you don't try chees onion naan then you are missing something ......
This is one of the go-to places when you get off office a bit early and you have a bike handy. Situated on the service road off SG Highway, near the Thaltej Circle, this place is good. Apart from the normal dishes like missi roti, paneer lababdar, veg kolhapuri and dal makhani (which are all really good, FYI), this place introduced me to the cheese butter masala, which was brilliant! Also, they serve a fairly delicious gajar ka halwa which would be stupid to miss out on. Definite recommendation!

The ambience is very simple and some people may not find it as satisfactory but the food here makes up for eveything. Especially their north indian cuisine combined with laccha paratha. Chinese is also satisfactory. But the best among all is north indian cuisines. Be it Palak Paneer or Paneer Toofani. Have refrained from ordering something which might be sweet. For people having sweet tooth, their maybe dissapointment here as not much options are there and not so satisfactory also. But in totality the place offers good food.

I ve been here quite a time specially to satiate my north indian cravings in gujarat.On first sight u will observe the restaurant to be a simple dhaba alongside a busy SG highway.Interiors are cramped and it could hardly handle the sudden outburst of foodies.
Now lets come to food,the menu shows everything which an ordinary veg dhaba of punjab or delhi shows.I ordered paneer butter masala,dal makhni & butter roti.
As soon as i gropped over the 1st bite of paneer i was astonished with its taste.The taste which can put any north indian dhaba to shame, although dal was simple but not par with other restaurants serving the same dish.
The food is little on the expensive side as compared to the services it offers but the taste is simply irresistible.
Overall thums up anyone who is craving for typical north indian food in ahmedabad must try once.

Not a single item written in the menu would taste a less perfect be it the vegetable sabji or paneer one. The kulcha chhole with lassi is best combination. It's been 5-6 years since I have been eating there and they have the same taste of every meal I have tried
Best Punjabi food, all dishes are awesome. Onion kulcha, garlic nan, palak paneer, chole are simply irresistible. Must try lassi & tandoori rotis are truly Punjabi. Veg kofta subji was our best pick

Not so big place... but one thing i liked that is Tandoori Rotis are prepared from floor(atta) and not fine floor(maida)...

One of those places , which serves authentic punjabi food at a very pocket friendly rates!! I had seen this one plenty of times on s g highway but had never been to there or had never thought of going that ,it was suggested by one of friend Ravi Shuklaand his kind of interesting ' cousin ' brother and it turned out to be really a nice place , so I went there thrice:) !! Currently I have developed tastebuds which really loves maharishi 's food !!
So for staters, chhole kulcha-- must try .. Non oily , perfect punjabi masala bend!! They serves special amritsari kulcha only on Sundays.. Pls go and have !! But be careful they may tell you that they have already have ran out of dough ( personal experience);)
And the other thing I loved was paneer gravies served there- I liked cheese butter masala the most!! And the tandoor dishes are excellent here!! Other one-vegetable Kadai was avarage, but not bad !!
You may perceive my description, a little bit exaggerated but frankly speaking don't go with the interiors/ exteriors!! And they have so called 'AC' sitting area , but for me , food has always been a priority!!

Being a punjabi living in ahmedabad, finaly found a nice place to have punjabi cuisine. I have visited this place quite a number of times. The food and preprations are very good. One can try from an extreme variety of dishes. The place is generally crowded, so expect a lil delay in your orders.
Chole bathure and rajma are available only on Sundays.
The quantity served is quite less according to the full servings.
But overall its a totaly worth visiting economical and nice place to treat ones taste buds a punjabi food.
This is the small place near thaltej serving authentic punjabi food. Food was really good, however the quantity was less.
And on sundays they serves the best Cholle bhature(they have their secret recipe) in town.

This is one good authentic punjabi serving restaurant. I really don't know why good authentic food restaurant required Chinese and other stuff, when they have good food. This is one of the old restaurant in this area. I think after so long in market they school work on ambience.
Nice place for a change, if you are looking for a dhaba type experience than instead to going far on SG highway, you can try this place at thaltej, near new york towers. Sitting arrangements are not too good as its a place for office goers. but you will experience real punjabi taste. Value for money and good service.

All my life I have been having fake Punjabi food! My taste buds certainly owe a lot to MAHARISHI DHABA . This amazing eatery will never cease to impress you. Be it lunch or dinner, sarso saag or makki di roti, missi roti or cheese Naan.

My colleagues took me to this outlet for a lunch one day. From outside, nothing spectacular about this and I was not sure of eating there but on my friends' insistence I went to this place. It is placed in one shop only so there was not much room inside and tables were placed very closely to each other. Tables were also small so not much comfortable sitting. No AC and usual office goers affordable lunch place it was.
Now enough of shortcomings, let's talk about the biggest plus of this joint and that is their food and taste. Food was really tasty and full of oil and masala as you find on roadside food joints but it was really really good. Another thing is rate is very reasonable so, office goers can afford their daily lunch in group there. Hygiene and service is a bit issue but you can't expect everything from this kind of outlet.
One visit is definitely recommended for their food.
5 on 5 is what I would rate for maharishi dhaba. Winter's have set in and if ur getting to eat mouthwatering makai di roti n sarson da saag in an open arena that says it all. We had ordered for paneer lahsunia as other veggie. Lastly hot gulab jamun as of course having a sweet tooth. All in all I'd go as much as possible especially during winters.
Was going to Acropolis Mall for shopping with family, had stopped by for lunch. Mom and dad have been coming here for quite sometimes. Dad recommended this place as I wanted to have authentic punjabi food.
Place is pretty much cramped and won't look fascinating first-time. The food however is the catch. I don't exactly remember what we ordered(I was on call for most time and dad ordered) but whatever it was it was worth everything!

Served on Sundays, their Chhole Kulche are something that one just cannot miss while staying in Ahmedabad.
The amazing taste of the garlic and potato filled Kulche is wonderful.
During the winters, their Sarson ka Saag & Makke di Roti are another dish that cannot be missed.
Well i always wanted to try this...#Amritsari #cholekulcha served by #Maharishi only on Sundays ..It comes at a meager rate of #60bucks where you get a very nice puffy stuffed kulcha and a bowl of chole...It is decent but not lipsmacking as i expected, but worth a try... I would love to see a few more variety in the stuffings department

Have to say... The food quality has decreased much, ordered two dishes one mix veg n other paneer... Both tasted more or less the same... However naan was too good as always...

One of those humble punju food joints you fall in love with instantly. I pass by this place since years but somehow didn't try out the food there, but when I saw the pics of thier chole kulche I was tempted to visit MD. A humble setting nothing fancy, but thw food is pwrfect if you like the real punjabi taste not what we gujjus think about punjabi food. The kulcha was crisp and filling, chole was mild and not too oily just how I wanted on a sunday afternoon. Dahi bhalla was also good, though it could have been better. I didn't enjoy the biryani as I don't like the khichdi type biryani and want my biryani too be less oily and the rice to be thin and long. We were 3 people and we ordered 3 chole kulches, dahi bhalle and biryani and 1 aloo paratha all for 320, that is dirt cheap and good quality food too. I will visit this place during winters, would love to try out other punjabi food and makke do roti n sarso da saag. Thank you paaji, dil khush kar ditta tussi!!
This place is a boon for bachelors and they believe in a no non-sense service. The food is fresh, hygienic, tasty and reasonably priced. The service is quick and prompt which makes the dine-in experience pleasant as well. Portions are also sufficient.
Do check out this humble, practical and no fuss joint when you seem to run out of choices.
I have been their customer since several years and I do feel that this place deserves some recognition here. The only thing that has changed over the years is the ambiance and their prices which is pretty obvious isn't it? They've added an aircon which is a big plus for those hot summer days. The food tastes pretty much the same i.e. good. Thumbs up to their consistency and at the same time the prices are decent too.
Basically it is a no frills place that serves good Punjabi food. Haven't tried their Chinese at all so I can't really comment on that. While the food may not be extraordinary it definitely is good and works well for me! The owner is a Sardarji who also cooks at times. Apart from that the staff is pretty limited however that has never been an issue for me because I always get my food and it satisfies me.
Also on Sundays they have Amritsari Chhole and Kulche which is something I enjoy eating. I've been there a couple of times just to eat this. Good place overall.

They serve authentic Punjabi khana --like home cooked without excess oil, butter or masalasAnd roti is the best -PURE WHEAT ROTI FROM TANDOOR which you never get now.It reminded me of the Sanja Chulha of Delhi and Punjab.
I will recommend PALAK LASUNNI and DAL MAKHANI.CHHOLA,KULCHA AND CHEESE NANA are other delicacies in authentic form.
Though the restaurant is simple and small it has really good food.and the prices are resonable.
