One of the best place to have authentic South Indian food. Chef is from South India. They use South indian ghee and masala. Quality and taste is really good. All dishes are authentic South Indian. Sambar and chutney was perfect. A must visit place.
Reasonable prices..
Authentic taste!! Sambar can be better though…
Ambience is OK . Though the water mist spray is done Avoid lunch hours.
- flooring (?) should be done . Very inconvenient to sit and get up…
One of the best open cafe for the south Indian food.
If you visit in morning breakfast or during brunch time it's a peaceful place. Also surrounded by open space and nature.
Quality of the food is also best they serving three types of chatni and all three are superb. They have authentic south Indian taste.
Price wise, for your assumption, they have 170 rs maysure masala Dosa. So its not an over priced neither a normal price. But quality of the food is satisfied.
But there is self service and order making decisions they need to improve.
Menu added in photos if you want to look.
The best mysore masala dosa I have ever had till date. Full of garlic chutney. I loved the ambience and loved the food.
One-word review: Superb South Indian food, especially Sambar. visit without any doubt.
Explained review :
Pros:
1) very good food, especially sambhar. I visited most of the reputed South Indian restaurants in Ahmedabad as I love South Indian food very much. But I have never tasted sambar as good as this cafe in any other cafe. Dosa, idli, vada, buttermilk are also good.
2) natural, peaceful location. The cafe is under the tree. And they have water spray fans. I found this cooling system very refreshing. Overall, these all things give good vibes.
3) Quick service.
4) The staff is friendly.
Cons:
1) The only thing that I don't like about Sambar Cafe is Self-service. There is also self-service for Sambar and Chatni. We have to stand up while eating to take Chatni and Sambar.
Good place to eat south Indian food. Menu is limited and good. Go for simple south Indian food like Dosa and uttapam. Other are also good. I ordered Dosa, curd rice etc. Sambhar is too too good. Parking is little issue. One suggestion don't use ginger in curd rice.

Better only only if you stay bopal ghuma or near by,not worth by traveling more than 10 km to reach there,it's just regular South Indian food cafe
Sambar cafe is self service place,This is a good option for South Indian food lover. They have one more outlet as well. Podi idali is good in test. Even dosa is also good in test. If you’re South Indian food lover then must try this place.
Must go place for south indian food lovers
Try their masala dosa and rasam with coconut rice . Absolutely loved it.
The place is serene. The food is so tasteful and made with hygiene. It was an amazing experience sitting out in the open under the shade of trees and have authentic South Indian food. They also spray water at regular intervals to keep the space cool.
A nice humble place on side of the road. On a not so busy road, next to an university. Frequented mostly by students, this place has real good food served hot. It is self service, but they are prompt with your oder, and serve a generous portion. The food has an authentic South Indian flavour. An overall good experience of eating in a peaceful setting, out in a semi open shade, with loose gravel flooring.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sambar Cafe, and it was an absolute delight for my taste buds! This South Indian gem has quickly become one of my favorite spots in Ahmedabad.
The ambiance is warm and inviting, with a touch of traditional South Indian decor that adds to the overall experience. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring that every aspect of your dining experience is top-notch.
Now, let's talk about the star of the show – the food! The menu offers a fantastic array of authentic South Indian dishes that are a true treat for anyone who appreciates rich flavors and aromatic spices. The dosas are perfectly crisp, and the variety of chutneys and sambar served alongside add an extra layer of deliciousness.
I highly recommend trying their masala dosa – it's a crispy, golden delight filled with a flavorful potato mixture that will transport you straight to the streets of South India. The sambar is rich, tangy, and perfectly spiced, complementing the dishes beautifully.
Whether you're a South Indian food enthusiast or a first-timer, Sambar Cafe is a must-visit. The reasonable prices and generous portions make it even more appealing. I'll definitely be returning to explore more of their menu and savor the incredible flavors of South India. Don't miss out on this culinary gem!
Food is very tasty. Nice surrounding. Can't wait to take pics of dishes.
Even in summer, I can feel cool air due to trees at this place.
We were lucky to have a friend who took us to the Sambar Cafe for breakfast. It was a cool misty foggy morning which made it that much more fitting to sit outside under the tree. The food is hot, fresh and made in an open kitchen. The railroad is just behind and the sound of the train going by just adds to the experience. I highly recommend the Sambar Cafe.
Very few places in Ahmedabad serve these much good quality of South Indian food..truly great experience of food with authentic and pure South Indian taste. Fresh, hot, hygienic food served, too good to eat, lovely place though...must must must visit ❤️
Nice Place to have authentic South Indian but the Staff, precisely the person taking the Order and Payment was very Rude . He didn't informed the closing time for taking the Order. On asking for Ordering new item second time, he bluntly said that it's closed.
Our Dinner was not completed as we were looking for some other dishes. But he didn't listen and just ignored our request.
If you want to visit then please keep timing in mind as you might return without completing your dinner.
Best place for authentic South Indian taste in Ahmedabad
Chutneys make the food experience better
Simply outstanding....
Located away from the hustle bustle of the city, this place serves some great South Indian delicacies.
The ambiance is quite with cosy seatting spaces under the trees.
Had ordered podi Idlis which contains 8 mini idlis tossed in podi masalas.
Their medu Vada were awesome, cryspy from outside and soft from inside.
Idlis were too soft and goes well with sambar and coconut chutney.
Malabar paratha with korma was good too.
And last but not the least their filter coffee is superb...
Overall a must visit place in the outskirts of Ahmedabad..
