Good and clean railway station. Newly installed escalator is very helpful for every one. Parking is bit issue but somehow managed. Platform ticket price is vary in festival seasons. Reservation counter is big and well managed. People are used to sleep outside of station which is creating problem in crowd management. Security personals are very very helpful. They are true heroes. Without them it's not possible to maintain this railway station.

Ajmer Sharif Junction Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti was a Persian-origin Sunni Muslim philosopher and Religious Scholar. He was also known as Garib Nawaz. He came to the Indian subcontinent in the 13th century and settled in Ajmer, Rajasthan. He founded and spread the Chishti Order of Sunni Islam in the Indian subcontinent. This was a mystical Sufi order. His resting place is in Ajmer, popularly known as the Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti Dargah. The architecture of this shrine is Indo-Islamic Who was Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti? Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti was a Sufi mystic Saint and Philosopher. He was born in 1143 AD in the Sistan region. It currently lies in the South Eastern part of Iran, bordering Afghanistan and Pakistan. He had a benevolent nature with qualities of piety and sacrifice from early childhood. His father died during his teenage years. He planned to take up his father’s occupation but soon turned towards a life of spirituality. On his spiritual journey, he met with the famous saint Hazrat Khwaja Usman Harooni. He accepted Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti as his disciple and initiated him. He received the Khilafat from Sheikh Usman at the age of 52. After this, he went to Hajj, Mecca and Medina. He started living in Ajmer, Rajasthan, during the rule of Prithvi Raj Chauhan. In the Battle of Tarain in 1192, Muhammad Ghori defeated Prithvi Raj Chauhan. Ghori then came to visit Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti in Ajmer, where he used to preach. He soon drew the attention, love and affection of the local people, poor peasants and nobles who came from far away. He preached and popularised the teachings of the Chishti Silsila (Order) of Islam in India, also known as Chishtiya. It was a Sufi Mystical Order of the Sunni Islam. It teaches the virtues of Love, Tolerance, Benevolence, and distance from materialism. He also founded the Khanqah of Ajmer to help poor people. Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti died in 1236 AD. He was rested in Ajmer. His tomb (Dargah) is famously known as Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti Ajmer Sharif Dargah. This is a highly revered place for his followers. It was visited by Emperors like Iltutmish, Akbar, Razia Sultana, Jahangir, Shah Jahan, Aurangzeb, etc. The Maharaja of Broda constructed a beautiful covering over the Dargah Sharif. Jahangir, Shah Jahan and Jahanara contributed to renovating it. Each year the death anniversary of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti is celebrated as a festival called ‘Urs’. It is interesting to note that the death anniversary is celebrated rather than mourned. This is because the followers believe that the disciple is reunited with his maker (Allah) on this day. Chishti Order - Chishtiya The Chishti Order (or Chishti Silsilah or Chishtiya) was initiated by Abu Ishaq Shami, around 930 AD, in Chist, which is a small town in the Herat province of Afghanistan. He is believed to be the first in the Chishti Silsila (Lineage). Chishti Order (Chishtiya was introduced and popularised in the Indian subcontinent by Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti after he came to Ajmer. Chishti Order is one of the four initial orders of Sufi Islam. The other three were Suhrawardi, Qadiri, and Naqshbandi. The Chishti Order (Chishtiya) emphasises the principles of love, devotion, Charity and Generosity for social upliftment and egalitarianism. One of the defining characteristics of the Order is to avoid materialism and the company of powerful and rich people. It believes in the doctrine of ‘Wahadat-al-Wajud’. It emphasises the idea of unity with God. The Chishti Order is known to involve ‘Sama’ in practice. Sama aims to invoke divinity by losing oneself in music and poetry. This music is generally known as Qawwali. The Dhikr, or the five fundamental religious practices followed by Chishti, are the following: Dhikr-i-Jali: Sitting in a defined posture at a prescribed time and loudly chanting the names of Allah. Dhikr-i-Khafi: Silently reciting the name of Allah. Pas-i-Anfas: Breathing exercise of Chistiya Silsilah. Mura-Kaba (or Muraqabah): A meditative practice in which one observes his heart .
