"Hidden gem of anjuna, cheap eats, great English breakfast options"
Happened to come across this cafe while we visited anjuna beach early morning. The cafe opens up around 830 for breakfast. A small cafe run by an old uncle who was very polite and hospitable. He managed to take and serve orders, look after the bills, all by himself. Kuddos to him for his hard work!
The cafe is just in front of their home. Everything they serve is made fresh in their kitchen.
They have some great breakfast options like pancakes, fritters, quiche, fresh salad bowls, cereal bowls, juices, smoothies, omellette, poached eggs, sandwiches, burgers, maggie, etc.
We ordered:
Egg Less nutella pancakes: nice and yummy with lots of nutella.
OBC (Orange, beetroot, carrot) juice: one of the freshest juice i have had in a long time.
Beacon sandwich and chicken sandwich: Both were delicious, fresh, made with fresh bread, served with fresh vegetables and mayonese.
Strawberry banana shake: Again fresh and yummy
All this is offered with love at a very nominap price. When in anjuna do visit them it is almost walking distance from anjuna beach. And do try their fresh salad bowls.
Highly recommended!
Knowing that this cafe is there since 1967 will provoke you to strike a conversation with the gentleman there. Good for a quite bite. Tuna toast and ham egg toast are worth a try. But if you hate cats, this is not a place to visit as the cats keep moving around the tables. But it is less of a concern if the taste of the food is concerned.
Wake up hungry late in the morning thinking of where to have breakfast. Well, head to this place which is run by an old man. Order a shake, bacon sandwich and nutella pancake and trust me you would not regret it.
Home food in goa! A long night in goa and then all you need a kick start day with brilliant breakfast! This is the place to go. You can try tomato omelets, just plain omelets, fresh jucies, milkshakes, pancakes and so on. Everything has that touch of been made for you at home with passion for food and love towards the guests/tourists. Its an excellent place to start the day with. Service is a little slow but who cares when you get the right food. In the end wait is worth it. A place that you must try in goa-anjuna.
Food 4.5/5
Ambiance 3/5
Value 5/5
Very close to Anjuna Beach, this is place is for lazy people like me. Wake up after a night long party and come here have breakfast. Thing cant better than this. Mr Diago is a very nice gentleman. We ordered for English Breakfast and Sandwiches. A perfect start for to lovely day at the beach. Visit this place when you have time. You wont be disappointed.
An amazing place for English breakfast. Should try banana pancakes for sure - they are the best I've ever tasted. Mr. Diago is a very welcoming person who sure loves to do what he does. The ambiance of the place makes you feel you really are in a vacation. A must-go place with such peace that makes you satiated after your meal!
An excellent place for home made good food. Ideal for an English breakfast or any meal when you looking for just simple food with that homely touch. Run by a Goan family, in the heart of the lazy Anjuna beaches where everything seems slow, this super power breakfast made my day. The owner himself, a senior gentleman with a lovely smile took our order and recommended the day's special. We had chocolate banana pancakes, absolutely delicious. The milk shakes were fresh and good portions and eggs to order of whatever variation you ask for. Would definitely go back for the warmth and delightful experience.
The avogado sandwich prepared in this place and adviced by Lonely Planet is worth its reputation, though not exactly cheap (around 200/220IR), since in the end it's the size of a toast. The avogado cheese version was delicious, creamy and nicely presented. The owner of the shop is a lovely old man who will be happy to share his interesting memories of his life with you. They don't serve alcohol.
My most favorite place in all of India!! The best lassi I've ever had! The owners are the sweetest. Make it a point to stop here . A few times :) the owner will even show you a book and tell you about old goa :) hippie era!
December 2021 update: it’s still the best!
