It's not everyday that we get to order a lunch that's closest to what we pack from home. Used Swiggy for the first time, since I haven't much options near my workplace (Nandambakkam).
Had to flip past the biryanis and the pizzas to choose what my tastebuds will always prefer. And chose the " special mealbox" in "Idlies". So that would be two biggg Podi idlis - choice of sambar or morkozhambu and " mutka" thayir saadham- in a pot.
The podi idlies were neatly packed in banana leaves and tied with a toothpick- the idli itself cut in little triangles so that we can just use the toothpick to pick and eat the pieces. There was sambar ( no onion no garlic) but the sambar was not even required because the idlis were soooooooo yum - marinated in the podi.
The "Matka" curd rice comes in a nice little mud pot, with plain cut manga sprinkled on top. And with cut mango pickle and thakkali Thokku in little boxes.
Overall such a yum lunch- and packaged in simple yet elegant " traditional" sensitivity.
I will henceforth not hesitate to skip packing lunch. For now I see that online food is much more than pizzas or biryanis.
Thank you Idlies !

If your love idli and dosa....it is a must try.
Quality of the food was exceptional. Packing was good and loved wrap in banana leaf. Tomato chutney was great and garlic kolambu was not in any way lesser in taste.
Unexpectedly....you have a option of milagai Podi or karuveppulai podi. Karuveppulai podi Idli was awesome and as expected podis were without garlic.
The combination of the side dish was something unusual. Unusually a great combination with great taste...
Kudos !!!! Team Idlies !!!!
Right and the best place to get the authentic taste of idlies with chilly powder. Whatever you pick, is simply amazing in our own traditional tamil flavor.
The Sambar and chutney is outstanding. The reason for my review is their punctuality, quality of food and the appetite it creates.. all the best to team idlies
Recommended by a friend, been thinking about trying Idlies for quite sometime now. With a newly opened outlet very close to my place, got a chance to visit them today
The menu is quite simple, different and delicious! While we had most of the items on the menu, the more kali, Upma kozhukkattai and more than vadam had us craving for more! The keera vadai and podi idly were not far behind
Fairly priced, this place is certainly value for money and we would certainly go there again!
I went to idlies to tap Into their ideas for marketing. No wonder Umesh is successful through word of mouth recommendation. The food is great, service is quick and prices are unbeatable. Good luck to Umesh and his team.

I don't know how this gem of a please got missed. Probably a hidden gem . It offers simple , forgotten dishes. All tasted like it was right from an ancient kitchen and left us lip smacking. What's more appreciable is their aesthetic packaging. No spillage here and there.
Don't miss their morkali and Vella dosai
Will surely recommend you guys to my friends.
Ordered a meal box and the podis. Tasted so homely. Loved the taste of the soft idlies and all the podis. Ellu podi is a must try! And not to forget the chutney that comes with the meal.... tasted heavenly..... All the best
The Special Meal Box and the Venn Pongal were absolutely delicious. My Mom who is tough to be convinced for a online order is now yapping about your Puli inji & Pongal combo. Swift Delivery, Spill proof packaging and good food, my Sunday's spot to order food.
Ordered lunch box and sepakizhangu roast from these guys today for lunch.. Omg.. It was beyond awesome.. Typical home made food taste.. The vethakozhambu was top class.. The roast was so so crisp and yummy. All the accompaniments also tasted heavenly.. Mothathula amirthamana sapadu.. Value for money and on time delivery.. Keep rocking guys..
Excellent restaurant with good dishes 😊. Different types of idly and different types of dosa😊
I like to give more than 5 stars unluckily there s no option...
Addicted totally....awesome taste , tat too wid mor kozhmbu wowwww❤️❤️❤️the way they packed with banana leaf gives extra taste to the idly ....totally loving it...thank yo Umesh for giving best ever podi idly
I tried idly and podisa few months back, both were delicious.
Then it was the turn of Pongal. It exceeded the expectation by miles
The unique side dishes given along with idly/dosa/Pongal like mor kozhambu & Poondu Kozhambu are too good.
Try once, I bet you just can't stop buying again & again
Cult place for a south Indian tiffin binge!! One can find a solace by relishing the delicacies post the food! Am sure that all the Idli hoggers are gonna enjoy every bite!! Please do not miss to try their podis, they are to die for!
Strongly recommend to anyone looking for authentic, affordable & absolutely delicious Idlies! ✌️
Thanks for serving us yummy idlies!

It's time to Get Podified. IDLIES WILL NEVER DISAPPOINT YOU FOR SURE.
Food is tasty, but prices are too high for the quantity.
Really very thankful to you people. I loved the food. U are only one giving hot curd rice which I mean is new. U are only one giving cut mangoes as pickle. Amazing kilangu fry. 5/5. Please do continue this service. I would say it as a service because we pay many money to food in other restaurants but the return food we get is not even half the rate but you are an exception. Thank you so much. May your restaurant grow bigger and bigger!!
After wanting to eat from here so long, finally ordered today. No regrets at all. We ordered
# podisa (aka) podi uthappam with vatha kuzhambu anf thakkali thokku.
# mor kali
# tawa fried butter podi idly
# vegetable somasi
Absolute bliss in every bite. The mor kali was the best dish among all the 4. Even the other dishes were fighting one on one for the top spot. We absolutely loved every item. Mor kali brought back lots of memories. Their menu has some memories kindling dishes. Don't miss it guys..
Will for sure again keep ordering or visiting this place.
The review is completely based on my taste buds and my love for food. (no influence).
Thank you 🙏
The food was really nice.... Especially mor Kali was awesome, but there is not sambhar or chatni for pongal... That's really bad. If you guys are adding it it would be really nice..

Names of two dishes pushed me to try this place as soon as possible – Mor Kali and Javvarisi Adai! You don’t hear these names in normal restaurants, at least I haven’t. Made a quick breakfast plan with wifey and headed to Idlies, Ashok Nagar. Google Maps helped reach without any issue, I am not a total stranger to areas in and around Ashok Pillar and Vadapalani, so wasn’t difficult to reach.
After so many good reviews by my friend... Tried this place recently cause I had less money 😁 yes the price is very cheap... Our total bill was under 300 we ordered 2 single idly and a fry and two drinks👍👍
I really loved the food.... That ghee podi idly comes with poondu kuzhambu was super good😋😋😋 Everything in the menu was super cheap but some items were not available...😶
Good service too🖐️
Swiggy orders.
We ordered podi idli, mor kozhambu idli, Panagam.
Value for money.
Packing was neat.
Mor kozhambu tempted us to ask for more.
Taste was top notch.

Breakfast with a twist 😎
This is a small setup in ashok nagar which serves break fast without regular sambar and chutney. Their menu is totally different. One awesome place to have breakfast. On my plate was butter tawa podi idly, keerai vadai, thayir podi idly, podi dosai and seppankilangu fry.
Must try their delicacies 😍
.
.
Approx Rs 150 for two
An interesting place to have an interesting modern twist to the traditional Idli ... Had an interesting jaggery ginger drink too alongwith ... From a seasame fried idli, to the ghee podi idli, to the Dahi Idli, to the crispy fried yam ... everything was quite interesting ..
I m a regular customer for them since they started the shop with only delivery. I ve planned to visit their outlet once they started but unfortunately I couldn't visit for so long and today I had some work nearby and finally visited the shop.
One of the best places to have idlies n dosas podified😋. Every dish from their kitchen are unique and so good. Must visit place for vegetarians. Pocket friendly
My breakfast scenes satisfied from @idlies
Its a home turned restaurant with 20 seaters and 15 seaters separately.
Thayir idly
I have heard about thayir vada, I was hesitating to try but still my inner conscious was keep on forcing me to order. If I did not order I would have missed such a recipe. soft idly with podi topped and half soaked in curd and sprinkled with sev. The idly was not completely soaked in curd. It was completely delicious.
Butter Tawa fried podi idly
Soft soft idly cubes with yummy podi which is tossed in butter and served.Yummax
Keerai vadai
Crispy vadai and a bit firm.
Vegetable somasi
Pastry with potato fillings and served with sauce.
Seppakezhangu fries
Oh my God.... It was an absolute blissssss... Crispy crunchy and soft inner kezhangu,, This is a must try one.
Vella Dosai
Sweet dosa made of wheat flour, vellam and paalkova with coated crunchu palm candy..
Panagam and buttermilk was really good

Smells like home. ♥️
Ordered rasam saadham from Idlies for the first time and the moment I open the box , the aroma of the rasam reminds me of my mother's rasam + adding to the surprise javvarasi vadam. Instant cure to homesickness♥️. Never knew happiness comes in a pocket pinch size.♥️
Super nice place but a small hotel and was located a bit inside so was hard to find but the different types of idlies and podis they make is super tasty and also the different food they have which south Indian food lovers would definitely want to try
If you are looking for delicious food and some innovative twist to your regular South Indian breakfasts, then this place is absolute delight to your taste buds.
We enjoyed each and every item we ate.
Highly recommend.

Great place for South Indian quick bites. Love the Tawa fried butter podi idly and have had it on multiple visits. Good ambiance. Good service.
Best podi idly and kozhambu..
Keerai vadai was authentic and very tasty..
Must taste buttermilk!!
Calm ambience, residential area, friendly staffs!!
I am away from my home town... And sometimes I get homesick ...During those times I really yearn for my family and the first thing that comes to my mind is the simple home cooked food which my mother severs me with love and affection. There are some special items which are my personal favorite in her receipes... One such item is "Morkali"....I used to really savour each and every bite of it and not even leave a single bit of it cleaning my plate entirely.. Now that I stay away from home.. She totally stopped cooking it saying that she is not able to eat it leaving me knowing it's my favorite food. I didn't know that they severed these items in restaurants. And one day when I was fed up with outside food and was a bit homesick I was searching across for some thing which is simple.. Then to my surprise I found this dish at idlies and ordered... But I was sure that it wouldn't taste like my mother's preparation... But still I ordered I waited for around 45 mins for my delivery to arrive..But the moment I tasted it... scenes from my home's dinning table and my mother's face flashed across.. The taste was exactly as if it came from my mother's kitchen....Within 5 mins I completed everything leaving my plate clean..Immediately I called my mother and said "Mom... Hereafter whenever you feel like cooking Morkali don't hesitate that I am not there to eat it with you... Just call and inform me so that I will also order here and have it along with you "...And also that's the moment I once again realized that food is not just food..there is more to food than just satisfying hunger... It's also an emotion.. My heartly thanks for the chef who prepared it... for retaining the dishes's originality..

Yummy sepankilangu fries, Vella dosa was great.
Small place yet good to dine. Thakali sambar was heavenly taste. Quick service. Friendly staff .
All food are perfectly home cooked .
A house converted into small restaurant adds the authenticity to the place . Ordered Tawa fried butter podi idli , Idlies special meal box , podisa special meal box. All the dishes were good. It’s a pocket friendly place. Their Sambhar, vatha kuzhambhu , rasam were appetizing ! Worth a visit. 👍🏻
A perfect South Indian outlet
House converted into restaurant a small place which can accommodate 10-12 people, than dining in many online deliveries we're flying each and every second.
They have all South Indian dishes in their menu from breakfast to rice.
I went on tried their most popular dishes from their menu
GHEE PODI IDLI
Idlies cut into small pieces fully covered with podi and tossed with ghee and it's my favorite dish among the lot
PODI DOSA
It was accompanied with chutney and sambar, but it didn't wow me like how the idli did.
CURD RICE
Okay it's one of the smoothest curd rice I ever tried, curd rice and mago pickle makes the best combination always.
And they do have vethakulambu rice and moorkali and do provide their podi alone.
IN ESSENCE :-
When you remember of your home to have food then this the place to come for
This is a small place which serves good and comfort food.
Ordered Tawa fried butter podi idli, Thayir podi idly, Vella dosa, Venn pongal, Arisi upma and panagam.
All are tasted good.
Our favourites are Venn pongal, Arisi upma and Vella dosa.
Good food. Friendly staff. Definitely want to come back to it.
Going to tell about my personal favorite from this outlet.
Mor kali and sepankizhangu fries, they are like ice cream and brownie...tastes out of the world.
Tawa fried idli, poondu kozhambu are other extra ordinary native food from this outlet.
Short note: excellent place for homely food in a very simplistic environment. Don’t worry about the price/no point cribbing.. forget I even said that.
Got whatever anyone could get prepared at a vegetarian’s home and for someone like me, who stays away from home, it’s a really sweet thing and puts me at ease. Loved the place, will visit again to try their other delicacies. excellent work team!
Finally a outlet to compete with Murugan Idli. I ordered 'ground milagai podi idli' meal box. The taste was very authentic. The podi was evenly distributed on idli. And both of the chutney were irresistible. Last but not the least, packaging was superb. My aim each to try each of the item from their A la carte.
The best idlies I have eaten, next to Murugan Idly. But their podi Idly is out of this world. You can even buy some of their top of the class podi to sprinkle some spicy awesomeness onto your home cooked food. I did ☺️
I've ordered from this place about ten plus times. And out of those ten times, probably twice I would have been a but disappointed (in regards to the taste) but overall I recommend this place for a neat dinner/lunch.
My usualy go to is the Keera Vada and an Idli box. The side dishes (gravy) is very tasty.
Sometimes the oil is a bit too much, (Yeah they add a lot of oil in the food) so I'm not really sure whether the food is healthy or not but otherwise it's a safe bet.

The food tastes as good as it looks. It has taken idlies to a whole other level of cool. Simply can't pick what I love most about the food. I've only ordered from Idlies. The packaging itself is so tempting. I just can't enough of their podis. I lick off the banana leaf until the last shred of podi there is left.
It's my second time ordering from this outlet both the time the food was good. But what impressed me is the packaging. They use a good terracotta pot so send curd rice and idly wrapped in banana leaf. Price is very decent for this. I will be ordering from here often.
I've ordered from them twice and both the times for the take away. I just love their seppakelangu fries.
On most lazy days, I order a gravy and fries from them and my lunch/ dinner is complete. Would love to visit their outlet sometime.

Ordered Milagai Podi idli and Ellu podi Idli from home...simply awesome. very homely taste. I only hope they maintain the same standards & taste over a period of time...
Ordered for podisa meal box, somasi, javvarisi adai and more Kali..enjoyed it a lot.. quantity was little less may be that can be given more..other than that very good food and loved the packing!
Small place with good sturdy furniture and courteous staff. Ordered podi idly, upma kozhukattai, Vella dosai, more Kali,Thayir podi idli and Thayir sadham. They usually do not give plain idli itseems. But since we went with our two year old, they gave a plain idli. They served Puli kuzhambu and tomato chutney as sides. All the dishes were yummy especially the Vella dosa served with Abella syrup. It was delicious and could be easily served as a good dessert. My husband was delighted to see the small more milagas that were served with the Thayir Sadham. I like my more Kali to be a little more in the upma consistency (the way my grandma made) and not Kali. So I wanted to give a four star rating. But,the staff there even warned us that what we were ordering would be sumptuous and if we order more then it would be just too much for our family. Not many do that. So I am giving a full five
Idlies was in my list ever since it was opened. Finally managed to go earlier this month. This place is in the interior street near Ashok Pillar. Followed Google maps to locate it. Lack of Big hoarding make this place bit harder to identify. Parking is manageable in roadside.
It is a small house modified for restaurant with very limited seating option. Ambiance is good with pleasing colour and lighting. However the way to hand wash smells bad. Even the cleanliness of the way is bad. The good feel we got while entering is lost here. Management to look into it and act soon.
Menu is crispier. Hardly few items were there. However it was impressive due to it's varieties. Especially on Podi options. This is the main reason for me to try this place. Service is good. Food ordered came in reasonable time.
Ordered Thayir podi idly, Sepakalangu fries, Podi idly meal box and Podisa. Everything is excellent.
- Fries is for takeaway, packed well. It was hot, crispy and apt spicy.
- Podi idly was generously topped by podi. Tried 2 Varieties of podi for each idly. Both are good. Morekolambu and chutney was not that great.
- Podisa aka butter podi onion Uthappam was mouthwatering.
- Thayir podi idly was totally new combination which tasted good than I expected.
Finally asked for buttermilk and Panagam but both are not available.
Pricing is reasonable considering the taste we get. Value for money 💰. Must try place for Podi Lovers. Going to revisit for sure. Tastewise they deserve 5 but due to smell near handwash and identification issue giving 4.
If you have sudden cravings for podi idly, then this is the right place. My favorite here is tawa fried podi idly and seppankezhangu fries(colocasia fries). I have been here like FOUR times and have delivered their food home for three times. That shows how amazing the food is :) the best part is it is pocket friendly and you can even buy the podi separately and try your dishes at home with it!
The best authentic food place out there... Its already been twice i have come here and many more to come.. Very pocket friendly place in which you wont regret spending at all. I have tasted their podi idly, mor kali, veg somasi, thayir dmsadham, vella dosa and panagam,
So far my favourite is mor kali. It was too yummy to share.
Opted for takeaway.
Ordered : lunch combo which had all four rice varieties in kutti kutti boxed which was fullfilling along with vegetable, pickles and pachchadi
Seppangizhangu fries : (chilly flavour) enjoyably spicy
Keera vadai : hot, fresh but I felt it need to be fried for longer as it had raw taste inside
Vella dosai : heavenly! It's a must try for all the sweet tooths out there
@chef.idlies
i wanted to try this for long time, today i had an opportunity,
My week started well..
i ordered a podisa, it was enough hot n everything was in right amount of spice , n loaded with choice of podi ( 5 variety) n served with pundu kulumbu n tomoto chutney ,was super good , yummy
Pondi kulumbu idliez , idlies were floating in podi kulumbu n oozing ghee, was fingerlicking ,
Seppangkilangu roast served with sweet chilli chutney was magical,
Ven pongal... The perfect taste
Every thing was truly southindian.. Definitely recommended.. Thumbs up .. Much love ..
One of the best places to be with family especially for Vegetarians. A very pleasant environment and friendly staff.A house is completely changed to a small restaurant. We had gone here as group of four(morattu eaters) but we almost order 90% of the menu. The items available in the menu is worth trying. Because they have introduced different concepts of foods which we have eaten in our good olden days. They have wide Varieties of idlies and Dosai. This place is just amazing with taste and quality of food they served. I cannot find any cons with this restaurant. Even though I am Non Veg eater, I loved all the food dishes which we have ordered.
My orders
Idlies Meals Box:- It contains Ghee podi Idly and karuveppaellai Podi Idly and served with more kolambu and Kara chutney. Idlies are big and covered with thick layer of podies and ghee.
Ghee Podi Idly:- Podi Idly topped with Ghee and Poondu kolambu. Idly is soft and fluffy which completely immersed in Poondu kolambu ( Must try)
Tawa Fried Butter Podi Idly:- Idlies is cut into many small pieces and garnished with Podi and buttered and finally fried on tawa.
SeppanKizhangu Fries with Red Chillies: Sounds interesting..!! Yup, its tasted crispy and Crunchy like home made food. This will be good combination for matka Thayir Sadham( Must Try)
SeppanKizhangu Fries with cheese and garlic:- This one prepared with cheese and Garlic which tasted different from previous one.
More Kali:- Must try food item in this restaurant.
Its one of the very health dishes. This dish has died a slow death over the years.Kali is a easy to digest food.Kali is a very traditional and authentic dish prepared with buttermilk and rice flour. It is common in Tamil Nadu. I personally like try more Kali with mango pickle (ask the waiter)
Podisa:- This square shaped butter onion podi dosai comes along with Poondu kolambu and kaara Chutney.
Thayir podi idly:- I am very fond of eating Thayir Poori in chat shop , I have no idea about this and how it could be taste. One big Idly is dipped in fresh curd and topped with some Burjia Sev. First time experiencing this and felt good.
Vennpongal:- The taste of this Suda suda Vennpongal is similar like which we had in temple as prasadham. Vennpongal and Puli inji makes good pair.
Arisi Upma:- This is not usual upma(hated by all) that we face it on some morning as breakfast. They came along with 3 types of chutneys.
keerai Vadai
Somasi
Matka Thayir Sadham
Vella Dosai
buttermilk and panangam
Order podi idli. Idli was perfect with podi well garnished over it. Value for money. Taste was good. Idli size was big enough. Service was good.
Good idea of innovative idlies and dosas at affordable prices served in eco-friendly friendly plates!
This place is a must try for podi lovers. They have multiple types of podis and their idlies are coated and fully covered with these.
I loved the Vella dosa which has mild jaggery and crushed peanuts.
The podisa is the south indian pizza version. It's doesn't look the same as in the menu pic, however it's good.
The venpongal was also good and the keerai Vasai was served hot and fresh.
Highly recommended for a snack for dinner!
Service was pretty amazing as well for a Saturday night.
Ordered thawa butter podi idli and sepakezangu roast. Both were very good. And that too it came super hot even on swiggy. The only thing which might bother me from coming here regularly might be the high prices. Though it was quite filling, people will think to eat idly for a 100 bucks. Just my opinion that if the rates are a bit lower, I and definitely in for this super cool place.
Focused menu. Excellent food. Excellent service. Very affordable. A small setup that wows you. Been here multiple times and left fully satisfied.
Some friend had ordered...ghee podi idly and keerai Vadai
Podi idly was superb in taste with lots of ghee in it.
Keerai Vadai was okish in taste....
Served with chutney which was also good in taste..
Been hearing about this place quite a while and had an opportunity to visit the place today ... Though the menu is not big , the items available in their menu are worth trying . The ambience is excellent and one shouldn't miss their garlic sambar ... To sum up , worth visiting again and again .
Been there on Sunday eve. Refurbished home into a restro. Ambiance is gud with a small place. Different concept of food from simple idlies to a taste, yummy idlies. Karikuddi spl varieties of food. Worth for money. Paanagam was good. Rs. 30 only.
I am not at all a idly person.. even if its hot!
But your catalogue and its photography tempted me much. I love podi and yours was magical. I ordered podisa and tawa idly fry!! 100% recommendable! I loved the cute packaging. It was enough hot and everything was in its right proportion.. be it the spice or the onion..And Again im not a kuzhambu person too.. but this kuzhambu of urs was fingerlicking good. Everything had a smell of ghee and southindian authentic taste! The quantity was also sufficient for the pricing. Would definetly promote you guys!
I was in a dilemma if i should keep a little for appa or finish it off.. but i kept.. so that he would take me there next tym on trying it. Planning for tje seppangkilangu fry soon!
Thank you so much for the delicious dinner!
Ordered through online ! Hot podi idlys from idlies!! Podi idly With tomato thokku! The podi idly was soft n fluffy with an amazing taste , the tomato thokku was tangy n salty ! It went well with the idly ! I also ordered keerai vadai which was crunchy and tasted really good ! N the price was reasonable! Give it a try !
Idlies is a place I always love to eat Podi Idly. They have different variants in podi's. Especially their Karuvepillai Podi is all time favorite 😀😀
But this time, I wanted to try their other signature dishes.
What I order:
Karuvepillai Podi Idly, because it's my favorite food. Favorites always have first place on our heart. It's a Grounded Podi that has a strong flavor of Curry Leaves. Those who love curry leaves can definitely go with this choice. Comes with watery coconut chutney.
Mor Kali, this is a soul warming food for me. At home, We use to make Mor Kali as evening dinner. Mor Kali from Idlies is something unexpected in texture. It's sooooo good in taste and droppy. It melts like porridges. It's not sticky, not rigid. Absolutely love in taste and texture. Wat I like most is Dry Chillies and Hing flavor. Comes with tomato thokku.
Sepangkizhangu Fries, Taste like French Fries. I ordered red chilli variant. They also offer Garlic Cheese Variant. Love the taste and flavor. Perfect snack accompanied with a ginger tea.
Podisa Meal Box, it has 2 pieces. We can apt different podi variants for each. Basically a square shaped idli loaded with Podi. Taste like butter podi idli. Comes with tomato thokku and poondu kuzhambu.
My personal choice for every dish is tomato thokku. It taste like a heaven. I end up having thokku as a main course.
Happily done my Sunday Dinner.
Happie Eating Buddies 😁
We visited on a Saturday evening. We were welcomed with a smile and hospitality was good from beginning till end. We never thought about clicking pics as we forgot ourselves with the items. Morkali was delicious and it reminded my granny’s prep. Seppengazhungu fry was fantastic. Idlies with vathakuzhambu heavenly combination. We realised and was wondering how we managed to eat idlies and enjoy it without chutney sambar. 👏🏻 we had so many items and the bill was 700 + for 4 ppl. Recommended!!
Tried for Lunch, very few options. Worth trying.. Had Lunch box with Vatha kozhambu and Rasam. Taste is ok. I like the use and throw paper plate. Tried Chilly Karunaikizhandu which is too spicy. Actually it's a small outlet for Dine-In , they do more deliveries.
Well I had heard a lot about this place and I wanted to try them from a really long time. Today was my lucky day ..and I can say that after I had there food.
I can't tell you the names of the dishes, as a north Indian I wouldn't be able to pronounce or spell them.
I can assure you you won't be disappointed even bit.
Umesh Vaidyanathan start stocking your inventories because I am going to be there most of my time .. not just me but am also going to drag every soul I can find.
Truly amazed !!! Great job guys!! 👌👍
PS: Not a person who clicks a lot of pictures. So my focus was just eating every dam thing on my table😉
Good taste.... Relatively price is OK.... when you like to order something authentic of kitchen... you can order....
Awesome food.. Easily one of the Best in Chennai... Am a regular customer now.. Strongly recommend.. you will not be disappointed..

Idlis a small eatery in Ashoknagar with Good Ambience .. Neat.I went to this Restaurant yesterday and Ordered Tawa Fried Podi Idly. Taste was good but no side dish. I suggest either Onion tomato chutney or Sauce will go well. Then i ordered Podia which is nothing but Podi uttapam with Onion, Butter and Podi. they gave me two pieces with Tomato Chutney and Poondu Kuzhambu. Tomato chutney was OK. it lacks little Spice and taste. Poondu Kuzhambu not upto the mark. It is contains more of Pulli and it gives a pulipu taste and no Kaaram. Poondu Kuzhambu must contain karam and must add little of Jaggery (Chettinad style) . Then ordered one Neer More. Sorry to say - i will only give for that. It lacks Kottamalli and ginger.. We run an event Management Company in Chennai and we have our Own Catering service for marriage. why i am mentioning our profession is Taste is more important plus Varieties of Food - New invention. Today's youngsters look for something NEW in Taste and plus Some Traditional Organic Food items. I would have given rating as 5 but for NeerMoor Taste and Poondu Kuzhambu taste i give 4. i hope you will take my suggestion in right sense and bring in Varieties soon. WISH YOU ALL THE BEST TO THE MANAGEMENT
I've ordered from them a few times and the food is good and most importantly it's authentic home food managed and cooked by a family (which is pretty cool)!
Above all Umesh the owner is very understanding and genuinely values customer delight which to me is sometimes more important than the taste of the food itself!
Thank you Umesh.. Looking forward to ordering and speaking to you again soon!
morekali needs improvement
The main dish wasn't impressive or excellent tasting. The side dishes (Tomato chutney and Pundu kulambu) were good.
good but the quantity is less
The curd rice was awesome....Which made my day... Maintain the same quality despite the demand...The poondu Kulambu was the best ever I've had..Great job..
Myself and my mom went there for dinner one day. The place has 3 tables and a barstool kind of set up for quickbites. Predominantly people come there for take aways.
Food - We had Thayir podi idly which was really good and unique.Thengai milagai podi idly set was served with special condiments which blended well with it and also Moor kali which was tasty but a bit salty. Overall a 4.5/5
Parking - Its in a residential area and also there are streets nearby to park. But parking is available outside the shop just for 2 wheelers.
Staff- Very friendly and helpful. They patiently time to explain portion sizes.
Ordered Mealbox which contains podi idly and Thayir sadham. Both were good. Idly was wrapped in the banana leaf. And Thayir sadham was packed in Mudpot. Nice packaging and good taste.
Why zomato not offering more than 5 🌟???
It was just amazing food.....
I have never ate authentic south Indian foods any where in world...
Really all the people on this earth should once come here
Exceptional food as always
Wowwwwjus wowww!!! Still typing with my mouth full
When you are not from the city and your prior experience of trying the legendary outlets have not been satisfactory, you rely on the App to guide you to places which have been critically viewed and reviewed by many. Idlies was one such find for us.
At the onset, this is one of the located on the ground floor of two-storied bungalow and having one of the most modest staff and pious ambience. At the maximum, the place can house 14 people together. This restaurant is owned, managed and serviced by women and they have done it with aplomb.
The menu is sweet and compact however the variants have been given a significant twist. These are not the normal Idlis or the dosa served here, there is innovation to a great extent. The various varieties we tried were unique and different.
Ghee Podi Idlis - the regular is topped with ghee soaked chilli Podi and the extravaganza is brilliant. Combined with tomato chutney, the taste is brilliant. The spicy and tangy taste of the Idlis is something generally we don't taste on a regular basis.
Keerai Vada- Deep fried moong dal vada stuffed with curry leaves, spring onion and green chilli. There is certain sour taste albeit for a change it is good.
Tawa Fried Butter Idli Podi- there are four different varieties of gun powder available here and in this preparation of Idli the restaurant utilised a mix of chilli gun powder and ginger gun powder. The morsel of good bursts into various different flavours and you are love in it.
Whatever moderate we spent at the restaurant was really good and the concept of utilising the ground floor as a kitchen is really good 👍
After so many god reviews, i decided to try IDLIES. Since so many said it is a small place i went as early as 8.00AM for the breakast. ordered podi Idly and Ven Pongal. The podi idly was top notch. it is red hot with the spicy podi marinated to it. the main factor is the way it was decorated. You dont even need a sambar or chutney. The ven pongal was awsm taste. the exact home taste. The quantity was also so filling that for a limited food eater that one plate of pongal will fill the stomach. After this mouth watering food, i decided to try the lunch as well. But this time i did a online order. Ordered for meal box and their favorite seppankizhangu fry. The meal box had, parupu sadham, rasam sadham, vathakulambu sadham, thayir sadham (each one 100 ml pack) and one box of curd. all was extremly awsm. no doubt and no complaints at all. the vathakulambu sadham was the best. The sepankihangu fry was extremely good. with perfect spicy and perfect fry. I loved the food to the core.
Fews cons: 1. The delivery ppl in the restaurant should see to that the customers are served with water or atleast keep a water jug in the table. I was to get up from my desk to ask for water. 2. In the meal box, if possible try to add a portion of sweet like, pongal, kesari, payasam or atleast a piece of sweet.
Over all one best food i have had .. kudos to IDLIES
Best place for experiencing traditional podi's with idlies.good ambiance and quality foods. Lots of podi variety and idlies. Moderate rates. Tried ellu podi and parupu podi idly. That style the cut the idly is easy to eat😜good experience.
A small place to have an all-day breakfast menu. They also have lunch varieties.
The ambiance is perfect and the service is friendly.
It's located on the first floor.
All the dosa and Idly varieties tasted so well.
Do try podisa and mini poori.
Great place to catch a breakfast. Very different menu and every dish was available. Tried their signatures, poondu kozhambu idly and Tawa fried podi idly and a very decent filter coffee. The waitress Kasthuri was the sweetest and she explained a lot of things I was quizzing about.
The reviews were good when we were searching for breakfast options. But they also mentioned that this was a place to order from, not so much to eat. But we took our chances.
Go Podified is hard to translate. It's inscribed on the tshirts of the cooks in the kitchen. Podi is the spicy powder mixed with oil that idli goes well with.
So we ordered the kozhukattai - the daily special , the thayir idli (podi idli soaked in curds) onion uthappam and coffee.
The kozhukattai - a steamed dish made out of rava or semolina was brittle and crumbled easily. It went well with both sambar and chutney
The thayir idli had a strong sourness along with the spice. That should have been toned down
But the uttapam made up for lost ground. The chillies on the top had more flavour than heat. And it was not too thick, like it tends to be conventionally. If you like it soft and thick, inform them
The coffee was good but one tends to be spoiled for choice in Chennai - and nitpicking
The place had 10 tables and half of them were occupied. A loud family gathering was in session and they were having fun.
It could be a little cleaner but the billing and serving lady had a quick smile and handled orders pleasantly.
The sign on the side of the restaurant is huge but it's so high up and the other signs on the building tend to overshadow it completely.
That needs to be fixed but otherwise this is a nice, uncomplicated breakfast experience
It was really amazing to have the seppagizhangu roast once again. With a special crispy layer. Their morekali and keeravadai are to be tasted for their authentic traditional style preparation. Will be prepared in front of your eyes once you order and served directly straight from the oven. Excellent customer service and remembering your preference if you are a regular customer. A visit is a must if you are a foody and like tradition and trend mixed perfectly.
Excellent hidden treasure of authentic traditional food excellent value for money wide spread of tiffin and they have different chutneys for each of their dishes. All South Indian tiffen lovers do not miss it .
Will be my go to place for breakfast and dinner their food is nostalgic and also it’s like how your mom makes things simple unique menus, vellam dosa is my favourite also the sepankezhangu fry 👌🏼 finger licking good ♥️
Such a lovely little place. Good food and affordable prices. Try their Vella dosai- it is an unique item. Looks like an open sandwich.

Good food ! Authentic and delicious! Everything on the menu is amazing!
Don't go by its name, House of Idlis. Because not only awesome varieties of Idlis available here, but also options of pocket friendly, yummy meals and tiffin items are ready to fulfill your 'Bon Appetite'. The side dishes they give with meals are highlight of the meal. Home like taste. I loved their Sambar, Vathakolambu, Arabi Fry and Masala Vada they served with the meal. Food Coma guaranteed after the 'Sapaad'. Staff is friendly and prompt.
Taste is amazing and service is also good.
Coffee wasn’t available.
There was power failure and floor/ toilets were mess.

I recently dined at House of Idlies, and it was an exceptional experience. The idlies were soft and flavorful, and the variety of chutneys offered added a delightful twist to the meal. The service was prompt, and the ambiance created a comfortable dining atmosphere. I highly recommend trying their idlies for a delicious and authentic South Indian culinary experience.
Ordered podi idli, curd ildi & thava fried idli. Podi ildli is crispy & excellent taste. Other two also good in taste. Highly recommended. Must try place.
What a simple, homely, delightful experience!
Turned up at this warm little place at Ashok Nagar for lunch along with my parents and grandparents.
We were promptly attended to by Shekhar who ran us through the menu.
Feasted on Morekali, Vethakozhambu sadam, Paruppu sadam, Molagakozhambu sadam and Avial. The best of the lot, however, was the golden Seppankanzhangu (Colocasia) roast, which demanded a repeat serving.
Topped all of this off with a refreshing serving of Panagam (please add this to the menu).
All of this at extremely reasonable prices.
A bit of work in making the space cleaner (and possibly - bigger) would be perfection.
Top meal. Big thanks to the team for delivering a happy experience.
Wow...Exactly a place I was expecting..Different Idly varieties. Must try for a veg foodie. Atmosphere can be improved a bit.
We stumbled upon this restaurant looking for having some snacks in the evening. It is a relatively small restaurant which can seat around 10 people at a time. It seemed that we are the only one who was there. Rest of the orders are from Zomato and swiggy. The staff was courteous and we ordered keerai vadai, thayir idly and javvarasi adai. The food was really good and oil free. The price was pretty cheap too when compared to other veg restaurants around. Will definitely visit again.
