We loved the fish that was served and the quantity was sufficient as well.. overall had a great experience here.
On if the best places to eat authentic Goan food, thier fish thali, crab curry n rice are my fav. I visited this place last year, and can't wait to visit again as I would love to try everything on thier menu. Not to miss the hospitality and warmth extended by the people running the place. A value for money 👌
Vinayak Family restaurant is a popular local joint in Assagoa serving fresh seafood loaded with intense spices. They also serve North Indian and Chinese cuisine.
Usually, I do order many dishes but this time I was just keen to try some seafood starters paired some chilled beer. So I went for their Masala fried prawns. I must say the prawns were fresh and marinated in a melange of spices. If you are a person who doesn't like much of spicy food do request the staff to make it less spicy. For some typical Goan cuisine and Goan vibe, I would highly recommend this place.
Food - 4.5/5
Service - 3/5
Ambiance - 4/5
Visited this place during our vacation at Goa . It is a heavenly place for sea food lovers . We tried many sea food dishes here . Everything tasted really good and had good quantity also .
One of the best places to have local Thalis I had the veg thali and it was just perfect. Local cuisine at its best. Over all the place is really good . Food, service top notch. Must visit place
I’m not a food blogger so this is not a paid review! I’m a food lover n honest to God this is one place u cannot miss in Goa. Tell them how u want ur food... spicy, deep fried, sour, tangy, semi gravy.... they will do it up just as your palate desires. Do NoT miss this one. Run by a family this place is a very casual place mostly frequented by locals n foreigners but it is paradise for food lovers
All seafood lovers especially those who dig the seafood Goan Thali at lunch...no better place than Vinayak. Simply awesome food.
Vinayak is the best restaurants for good+fresh+Authentic Goan food(with alcohol)!
Quick service, we their tried fish thali along with rechad mackerel, raw fried prawns and oysters (just perfectly cooked) and the better garlic squids(my Fav – you won’t regret). Good prices ad a must visit for anyone who visits goa and craving for some amazing food.
Amazing place for people in goa the fish thali here is just mouth watering delicious also the prawns rawa fry, crab masala, shinanio rawa fry, pomfret tandoor but above all must try the fish thali
Vinayak Family Restaurant is one of the BEST restaurants to have seafood in Goa! Their ambience is nice and service too. We tried Prwans Rawa Fry, chicken lollipop and King Fish curry. Both the dishes exceeded our expectations, they were so damn delicious and properly cooked. You must try Prawns Rawa Fry if you're visiting this restaurant.
Our vegan friends ordered some noodles and Manchurian, but it didn't fulfill the expectations. It wasn't that good to taste. So it's a good restaurant to have the ultimate seafood 😍
This place will never disappoint you. It’s one of those places where the ambience is nothing fancy but serves one of the best food. It has lip smacking sea food. The best part is it is very pocket friendly but amazing food and the quantity. It’s always crowded...so try to get there early. As it is a very busy restaurant the waiters are seen running around, so u might have to help yourself in finding a seat. A must visit for foodies.
This rather unassuming looking gem of a place tucked away in the pretty interiors of goa, holds some serious culinary clout. The food is non fancy but flavourful and absolutely out of this world. The fish curry and crab curry are some of the best I’ve ever had. The portions are generous and for the food they serve I’d say the prices are throw away. All in all I’d recommend a detour from the beaches to visit this place.

Nothing breaths "Goa" more, than the array of seafood available to indulge in. And who doesn't love a plate of rawa fried prawns😍 Vinayak in Assagao is one of best places where you can enjoy the best that Goa has to offer at the best prices too. The restaurant doesn't offer much for looks, but it's the perfect place to pop a cold one and chill with buds. Make sure you reach the restaurant early as it fills up really soon.
Both, the Prawns Rawa Fry and Chonak Rawa Fry were yum! There were 8 pretty big prawns, perfectly marinaded and perfectly cooked; and 3 hefty pieces of the chonak in the same way. The prices as always are APS, but in our case, we paid 450 for the prawns and 400 for the chonak. All in all, it was just really good and worth the price.

When we visited first during weekend, we were on the waiting list because the place is in So much of demand for its mouth watering and finger licking sea food. It’s damn worth it! Must visit if you specially prefer sea food and offcourse rest all were good too ! They do serve variety of alcohol. Lovely place to visit!
Vinayaks was recommended by a dear friend & is simply the best konkan goan food place in Goa.Awesome seafood place which disappoint on any thing.Plenty of beer around & gobsmakng sea food.Malvani cuisine needs more places like Vinayaks's.joyeaux noel 2019.
Must visit place to have Authentic Goan Food.
Place has some extremely well prepared Goan dishesh
We ordered:
1.Fish Thali was teeming with flavour and variety of seafood (5/5)
2.Pomfret Fry(5/5)
3.Racheado Fish Fry(5/5) must try
4.Prawns Curry(5/5)
5.Fish Curry(5/5)
Was recommended this restaurant by one of my friends.
Pretty easy to locate, even though it's quite inconspicuous.
We had the Fish thali and a pomfret fry.
The fish thali had two kinds of fish and a fish fry piece.
While the ambience is not much to speak of, the taste beats trumps everything.
If you're interested in a-la-carte, I definitely recommend the Racheado Fish Fry as a starter followed by a prawns curry and a fish curry with plain rice!
A must visit if you are in Goa!

We ended up at this family restaurant to have local Goan food. We ordered fish thali and prawns and prawns Richardo.
Each and every bowl of dish was heavenly in the fish thali. It comes with rice and fish fry alongwith different veggies and curries.
We completely loved the food. We had to wait for a table to be vacated since the place was full with guests. No wonder they have so many people coming in
Staff was helpful and kind suggesting many options to us.
Happy eating and god bless
The moment you enter the restaurant you know you have come to the right place. The ambience the food the service everything was top notch. Chonak thali and crab fry is highly recommended.
The Thali was okay.
Prawns rawa fry and the Cera dura sweet were amazing
This is highly recommended and is a must visit whenever in Goa . Prawns caldim , crab masala, pomphret rava fry and even the desserts are to die for .. highly recommended and the service is impeccable as well
Not soo much of a hidden gem anymore Vinayak is always jam packed nowadays . Inspite of this heavy crowd and rush it is great to see that there is no much compromise on the service speed or taste. Really a great place to grab some goan rawa fried or Masala fried fish. Fish served is always fresh and quantity is quite decent for the rate. Really love the tisryo(clams) at the place. Parking is not much of an issue because Vinayak has a parking of its own and there is usually place on the road outside.
This is a must must visit place when in Goa . U won't feel disappointed at all .
It was a great n super crowded restaurant filled with locals and authentic goan food.we ordered Chonak curry(white snapper) and it was super spicy yet delicious. Will definitely go back to try the other dishes too.
While the food is excellent, I have given 4* because its somewhat unreliable as far its operating hours are concerned. While most places say it stays open till 10:45pm, I have found the place shut by 9pm at times when I have gone there. So, plan for lunch, dinner may leave you going without food.
Definitely a must go thing.. They serve fresh seafood and also have a delicious dishes listed out on their menu. Ambience is not very pleasing but yes Food is .
Small place with finger licking seafood dishes.Had rava fish fry and prawn biryani for dinner, both were yummy esp the rava fry.Ambience is good.
Pleasantly surprised!!!
Oh man! What an amazing meal to binge into! Absolutely Goan style ...
This was one of the best and pocket friendly Thali places to have bumped into. Ambience and all is not something you would be looking for in a place like this since the food is the USP.
Try the simple Fish Thali and the Sera Dona (Goan dessert), it’s simply yummy!
The golden fried prawns and the Butter Garlic Calamari are mouth watering as well.
All in all, definitely give this place a try!!!🤘🏼
We had the prawn Thali which was a jam packed Uber fun experience.
This prawn curry had lady fingers in it which was new to me but super yum.
Spicy clams great item. Also pickled fish in red sauce that was WOW.
We had the Bombil fry on the side which was good but the Thali was epic. Will go back again.
Vinayak Family Restaurant is a small cozy place for authentic goan food as well as north indian foods. This place has an indoor as well as an outdoor seating arrangement, which is also well maintained and decent. Generous food quantity along with decent prices too.
Definitely recommend their Fish Thali and Chonak Fry.
Their Cripsy Chicken, Chicken Dry Garlic, Chicken Malai Kebab and Chicken Fried Rice are some dishes that are worth giving a try. 😘
Awesome place with awesome food. Have been here several times and never disappointed. Maintained very clean and hygienic. Rawa Mussels deep fry, musy try!!
I visited this place back in 2018 January. I forgot to write the review back then. Thank you Vinayak Family Restaurant for making my Goa Stay pleasurable.
Based on my experience of food from the previous visits to Goa, I kind of made up my mind not to get great food and great service in budget restaurants in Goa. Went to this place without any expectations. But OMG, what a pleasant surprise was waiting for me.
Finger licking food compensate the service slowness. Service Slowness is understandable due to their high volume of customers.
I have locked this place forever to my mind for my future visits to Goa.
P.S. - I couldn't remember the name of the restaurant after 1 and half year. Thanks to Google maps timeline data, I found it.
The most yummy food , the best people and the best place.. one of my reasons to come to GOA is Vinayak ❣️if you haven't gone please visit once so that it's on your list each time you go. Try the Prawns fry, crabs and even the chicken.
Looking for some authentic Goan food and perfect fried goan fresh seafood, then this is the place to be.
It's a family restaurant and could definitely be busy during peak hours.
We ordered for fish fry, fried rice, fish thali and Chicken Lollipop.
On the thali if you require extra rice, you get additional gravy and also a fried fish.
Overall this restaurant is great but only problem is, Your order could seriously take time to be served, due to the rush and heavy orders.
View of the open fields is a must to enjoy.
Our rating would be 4/5
We enjoyed our meal here and the service is prompt and good too - highly recommend their Fish Thali's (check with the server which fish they are serving, changes daily) and Prawn Rawa Fry
Prawn biryani was awesome... so was the fried fish!! Perfect Goan feast!!! What more can one ask for when on vacation!!!! Strong recommendation for all good food lovers!!
Always crowded. You need to wait for the table. Sea foods are delicious and fresh. We ordered red snapper masala fry, mud crab curry along with rice n beer. Pricing also very decent
I had been hearing lot of good things about this restaurant from many of my foodie friends, so finally I was here for lunch to get some vibe of this restaurant. So from my experience now, I can say that this is the one of the very few restaurants in Goa which serves excellent Seafood food 😍 Its Yummy! A Must for Sea food lovers specially.
So the things which we ordered were some starters and no doubt most of them were seafood starters. Butter garlic squids, kingfish rawa fry, rawa fried prawns, fried leppos, and many more were on our table. For main course we went with butter chicken, butter garlic naans. Yummy and tasty food. Loved it! 😋😋😋
Food was reasonably priced and service was very fast. Waiters were courteous and friendly. Ambiance was as good as what a tourist coming in Goa would have expected. Awesome! A good restaurant to chill with your loved ones😉
I will again say A must visit restaurant for ‘Sea food lovers’ ❤️ Will visit it again very soon...
Lovely Goan thali 😍 the food was simply yum specially the prawn curry! However just the ambience was too hot . But then that's Goa for you. The service was fast, the food is reasonably priced. Do give a try if looking for authentic Goan seafood.
Restaurant offers a variety of Seafood dishes and authentic Goan dishes. Along with Goan their Chinese dishes is also amazing but I prefer to have Goan dishes especially Fish from this Restaurant.
My most favorite restaurant in North goa.i go here many many a times. Most favorite is chonak, squids batter fry, rice plate, xinani, kalwa prawns curry etc.Cheers.....The taste has not changed for past so many years
I can dive in to this curry and eat it forever. Small place clean and neat. Staff is superb, leave all the niceness aside and worship the food. I can still taste the flavour of the curry while writing the review.
Great place, perfect for family and friends .you get to taste proper Goan food here. We ordered squids masala fry, fried rice, butter naan and butter chicken, food is finger licking good.
We went there on two months back and the food at restaurant was so good and in the night times it is best place for who are staying near the restaurant assagao... I love the food and the place...
When to goa first time and i was lucky enough to have a fish thali there. Cant praise enough how good it was.
Even the big prawns were absolute heaven. Recommended whoever is in Anjuna to go here to eat the goan thali. The ambience could have been a little better and at times the waiter kept us waiting too long to take an order. So 4/5 stars....
The food is great. A few of the items I liked were chicken fried rice, butter chicken, fried fish & fish curry. The service is also quick despite the enormous crowds. I hope they start home delivery with Zomato very soon!
Love the experience here. One of the best restaurants mainly for sea food. The tandoori dishes are also so flavorful. Something very different from other places. The quality n quantity is very good. This place is little interior from the beaches in North Goa.
I recently visited Vinayak Family Restaurant during my trip to Goa, and it's undoubtedly one of the busiest establishments in the area. On my first attempt, the long queue and over an hour wait time made me postpone my lunch plans, but persistence paid off the next day.Arriving just 10 minutes after they opened, I managed to secure a seat for lunch. The restaurant is a bustling hub, renowned for its wide variety of delectable seafood. The menu offers a splendid array of choices, catering to the diverse preferences of its patrons. What struck me most about Vinayak is the quick and efficient service. Despite the constant flow of customers, the staff remained attentive and ensured a smooth dining experience. The old Goa ambiance adds a unique charm to the place, making it more than just a dining spot – it's a journey into the cultural and culinary heritage of the region.
Visited this place after reading the reviews and getting the recommendation from Google. Not disappointed at all and this will be a regular visit when near Vagator for us. It's a beautiful family run restaurant that dishes out beautiful seafood. Alcohol options are limited but are enough. This place has waiting almost all the time so better to call ahead. Parking is also tight.
Highly recommended restaurant !!!
A good food Good Ambiance is what it serves. Tried Bombil Fry, Garlic Prawns, Modso Masala Fry, Veg Crispy, Solkadhi.
Would like to try Thali there as lot of people there were having the same.

A wholesome thali experience. 1 Chonak thali, 1 surmai thali, chicken starter. The thali was made up of rice, a local Goan gravy with a few small prawns, a kokum vati drink, kismoor, a vegetable, small clams masala, a fried fish of your choice. The quantity is large and more than adequate for a single individual. It could be rated as medium on the spice scale, however, my spice tolerance is much higher than most. All the ingredients were fresh and had a home cooked feel to it. Beer is a requirement with the thali and I personally recommend ‘People’s ‘ beer ice cold as an amazing accompaniment .
Vinayak restaurant in Assagaon, Goa serves primarily Goan seafood and non veg dishes. They are famous for their fish thali. Servings are in good quantity and fresh sea food varieties include various types of fish, crabs, prawns. Loved the fish and prawns fry. There is a huge queue during peak lunch hour so plan to reach in advance. Good taste and quantity will leave you fulfilled with the full Goan experience.
If you want an authentic Goan food experience, head to this place. We had lunch there, ordered chonak fry and masala prawns. The place was packed but service was quick. It's not a fine dine experience but go there large portion, tasty local food
Overall Rating: 5/5
Food: We ordered a Kingfish Thali, Rava Fry Chonak (Which is the local name for Sea Bass), Prawns Caldine & Masala Prawns. Each and every item was absolutely amazing. A very satisfying meal. We liked it so much we went back the next day.
Ambience: Its a very simple ambience with the focus on food rather than interiors. Located next to an open field which is nice if you get the corner tables.
Service: Very prompt service even when the place is running busy and they've got a lot of tables to serve. The waiters were also very patient and helped explain the dishes and recommend them.
Beautiful outdoor setting. We ordered 5 thaalis with King fish / channak. The fish quality and sizes were reasonable. Rest of the items in the thaali too were excellent
The Thalis are amazing ! Great area for large groups. Be prepared to wait , there are long lines sometimes. There is a parking lot next door which is convenient. The food is phenomenal!
I had a fish thali and it was the best I've had so far. All our meals were very tasty. Would recommend it 100%!
The only negative is the smell from the toilet if you sit at the back of the restaurant.

Good place to visit if you're in the mood for the quntessential Goan Thali.
Ambience:
Pretty simple arrangement, nothing fancy.
Service:
Average, nothing out of the ordinary again.
Food:
Pretty good, but I've had better at other places. Bombil restaurant in Panjim has spoiled me, perhaps. However, don't get me wrong. The fish thali was pretty good here too. They also had diet coke - if that's important for you :P
If you're close to this place, go try it.
Visited this restaurant 2nd time and happy on both occasions to have chosed this place.
Liked the fry fish more than butter garlic one.
Solkadi was ok, have had better in Konkan.
Kingfish Masala fry was insane! Best fish I've ever had I think :)
Also ordered the prawn rawa fry, quite good.
If you're looking for authentic Goan food this is the place. The sea food was freshly cooked and mouthwatering.
Great sea food, it would not disappoint.
We ordered masala crab it was well cooked. Just need to get hands dirty it was mess.
Local Goan fish and king fish tasted really good. Squid were okay, tasted good with butter garlic sauce.
Egg xacuti was disappointing. Prawns were well cooked.
Also the person serving was not professional, we ordered Sol kadi and asked him to get bill too after few minutes.
He got the bill but didn't give Sol kadi and added to bill. When we asked about Sol kadi he said its over and when we asked him to remove from bill he went and confirmed at the counter and came back it is being prepared and would take 10 mins. It was clear he wanted to clear the table quickly.
I hope that they don't do this with customers again.
Best thali in Goa! A must try food ! Authentic food .. yummy taste
Worth the drive with friends, the Urak is anmm jus awesome with limca and the thali is absolutely should be in your bucket list if u are a true fish lover. Service is good, polite nature of the staffs, ambience is awesome. Just u need to get the proper parking, haaan make sure u reach by 12.30-1.00 for lunch, or else u gotta wait wait wait😊
This restaurant is super.. Awesome food. Great hospitality. Gets weird during lunch and dinner time because the footfall is crazy. Food and taste is authentic. Beans foogath is their best ♥️
I'll visit them again.
