The food was good and the ambiance was even better, I preferred seating outside so the absence of A/c done make difference as long as the weather is good .

The brownies, muffins and cakes are amazing. The apple spice cake as well as the banana white chocolate muffin was just incredible!! Must must try. The staff especially the owner is very warm and welcoming. A really nice place to sit and work or just have some good conversation or alone reading time.

This place is very easy to fall in love with.. It has an easy happy vibe backed with some very interesting food. The Blackies are to die for and the all girls staff is warm and attentive.
Falling in love with the interiors have never been easier and subtle. This ta cafe at the roadside of goa streets was everything i loved. The green tea was amazing. The homely interiors were pleasing to the eyes. Totally worth it. Do visit it whenever you get a chance to visit goa.

What a wonderful delight it was to be in this place. The entire ambience has a positive vibe to it and there is a nice serenity in the place. The food was fingerlicious. We had ordered cold noodles, pasta, kerala ishtoo and all the dishes were cooked with a lot of love which came alive in the taste. We ordered the desserts too and the apple pie and blackie is a must try. Anyone who wants an earthy experience must visit this place. Highly recommended!!

Discovered this cute place on the main road in Assagao, not too far from the popular restaurant, Gunpowder. Nice cappuccino, espresso, Blondies, Blackies. No air-conditioning, and can get pretty warm in the afternoon. They bake at the restaurant itself and it is open, so it’s nice to see the stuff getting baked.
We were looking for sticky buns which had good reviews on Zomato, but they had run out that day :(

Went there for lunch on a friend's recommendation. The food was really good, and service very friendly. Ordered a salad and pork fritters. Both excellent. We sat outside as the weather was great, and really loved the place.
It's an amazing cafe.. i love the blackies , brownies and pies..and coffee with coconut milk is yumm.. my favourite dessert place ..ambience is quiet and peaceful.. and ya the kitchen looks very clean and hygienic.. :)
The last time we ate at Ruta's, it was at her Margao cafe a couple of years ago. While the food there was very good, her Assagao location goes way beyond, with a charming old Portuguese house in a lovely Goan village. Some in our group were vegetarian and there was more than enough to keep them happy. The cold-pressed juices were great (why don't all restaurants offer them?) and the desserts were just as yummy as her old location. Will be back for more!
Went to this place after looking around for restaurants. It was so refreshing to step into this place. The owner who also is the cook was very welcoming and lovely. I had the chicken ishtew. The stew was very light and full of flavour. The chicken and potato were very well cooked.
I also had chocolate milkshake which was good. I ended my meal with my desserts- blackie, blondie and apple spice cake. The blackie and blondie were more like brownies and tasted great with ice cream. The apple spice cake just came out of the oven and was super fresh and amazing. It is a must try.
It's the perfect place to spend the day reading a book. The cafe is quaint and homely, the food is delicious and the owners might just be the nicest people on earth.
Special mentions: Huevos Rancheros, Chickpea and cashew salad, Blackies. The cold coffee is amazing as well.
Cosy little cafe serving an eclectic range of dishes all of which are freshly prepared with local, whole ingredients. Discovered this jem only because we were staying in the same neighbourhood on our trip and thank God for it! Ended up visiting it twice and both times the dishes were delicious. They have a range of whole fruit, no preservatives and sugar kinda juices and smoothies. We tried the huevos rancheros eggs and the cheese and spinach omlette, both were delicious. They serve these with their own preserves and fresh bread. Loved it! We need more such humble and healthy cafes around us.

On the last day of our trip we were basically looking for a place to relax a bit and that's when my friend remembered about this cafe, whose owner happened to be her family friend.
It's a cute house converted into a cafe. The owner Ms. Ruta was really humble and made sure we had a comfortable time.
We had a couple of drinks and brownies which were yummy! Would love to visit again to try out their food too.
We make it a point to visit this place every time we are in Goa. Just love the vibe and ambience and how relaxed it is. Have mostly been here for lunch or coffee, am yet to try the breakfast which I heard is great too. As for the food , we have tried all the non veg small plates which taste really good, however the portion size is extremely small even for a small plate. The glazed prawns is literally just 3 pcs, not even enough for two people to share. Do try the brownies and blackies, they are really good and something that also keeps bringing me back. Excellent coffee to go with it. Overall a must try!

So nice on a windy Sunday afternoon~
A friend ordered the Cold roast chicken with a spicy tomato garlic sauce & crispy okra which proves to be a standard favourite now... (the description says it all)
And I had a big plate of Juicy pork carnitas with grilled peppers & onions with spicy salsa, which is yet another hot favourite.
And how about this- Caramelized Moira bananas + vanilla ice-cream. So Simple & perfect :)
I did try some prawns that I didn't quite fancy the first time round, so, I'm not going to try any more seafood unfortunately.
Love the vibe of the space, and homely atmosphere. Will drop in for another laid-back lunch soon!
A great place to stop by for a meal, a snack or even just a coffee. The brownies, cakes and blondies were a complete hit with my children and we were there almost every day of our stay in Goa.
The place has a great vibe with wonderful jazz playing. Ruta and her 2 assistants are really helpful and customise the order as per your choice ( which was a real blessing when there are fussy kids around).
All the breads and confectionery is baked in-house and everything was very fresh.
A special mention of the Mezzo platter and the Basil Lime drink.

We stumbled upon this beautiful little place while exploring the lesser known parts of North Goa. They have minimal yet impeccably decorated interiors, that give you a sense of peace the moment you step into it. Everything is supremely neat and clean, and makes you feel home. The food is heavenly delicious, and the shakes and smoothies can relieve you from all the stress and exhaustion . The menu is eclectic and there's nothing you don't want to try out. Out of all the things we had on our visit to Ruta's, my favourite was the banana peanut butter shake, and the brownies.
One can sit outside for hours and read a book (they have a small stock of very interesting books on their shelves) in peace. I did the same. And I never wanted to leave. This is definitely one of the best eateries in North Goa.

On our way to the Hotel, we were famished and were looking out for a good place to hog on. And we Zomato-ed the options, we come across this highly recommended place called Ruta's Roadhouse.
So, we landed up trying this place for some good food. Located in the by-lanes of the Assagao, this one can be a little difficult to find, especially if you are not aware of the area. But, well Google Maps come to the rescue as always.
INTERIORS / EXTERIORS: They have an expansive outdoor seating with tables placed out pretty well so as to accommodate a lot of people and at the same time not getting cramped. The inner section has few tables, though. As the owners of the restaurant stay there, I guess, it is a sweet place to be. Very homely.
SERVICE: Great service. Ruta, the Owner of the restaurant, personally takes the orders and she is really really sweet. Born in Mumbai, bought up in California and finally settling in Goa, a tale to tell. She has only 2 helpers and they are equally sweet.
FOOD: Since we are Vegetarians and there was a lot of Non-Vegetarian options, we were clueless as to what order. This is when Ruta came to our rescue and suggested the order. As she makes all the food personally and fresh, she converted most of her non-vegetarian dishes into vegetarian and served us fresh. And on her recommendation, we ordered a lot of stuff, ranging from Coffees to Salads to Food to Desserts. The food was fresh and the breads great. They bake the breads too in-house. Everything was excellent, especially the Espresso shot with Vanilla Ice-cream, the Spicy Spiral Fries and the Dessert. Yummmmmilicious!!!
OVERALL EXPERIENCE: Excellent, to say the least. Especially the hospitality part. Next time we are in Goa, this a must visit for us. Kudos!!

One of the most inviting, homely cafes/restaurants in North Goa, Ruta's Roadhouse actually feels like stepping into someones home. The vibe is cheerful, the food is delicious and always exceeds expectations (in variety, quality, flavour!). Go ther for brunch, a lazy lunch, a cup of coffee and muffins - and you will likely not want to leave. I like a place that makes me feel so comfortable and at home :)

Iced Teas since it was rather hot. As we were chilling over our lemon iced tea. and lemongrass iced tea, we decided to grab a quick bite and ordered this
A café is not only about the food and beverages served. It's also about the friendly service, vibe of the place, location and the way it makes you feel. Ruta's got it all under one roof. Excellent hospitality with a home like relaxed feel. A must try. Be warned: it's not going to be a once tried place on ur list of café's in Goa.
It was indeed an experience the moment I entered Ruta’s. The ambience is so cozy and comfortable that one just cannot think of getting out of this place. The chocolate brownie’s I had is a class in its own and the best I ever had in my life. Most of the stuff I had was just mouth watering and triggering your taste buds to order just more and more.
The menu is very precise and crisp. Everything which is prepared here is filled with love and passion and so you can just feel it, while you fill yourself with your taste buds.
I am overwhelmed by this place and would definitely come with my family again. I wish Ruta and her team for doing such a commendable job and wish them all the very best

Ruta's has moved to Nachinola / Moira, just 5 km from Mapusa. You'll find us opposite the Ganpati Temple, between the village carpenter and welder, a hole-in-the-wall with great food and a quintessential Goa vibe.
This is my first review on Zomato and I am only writing it, as I feel this place deserves it, the food is as excellent as the top european cafes, everything tastes fresh and yummy, ambience is also very cosy not a big place but that adds to the charm, an hour had passed since I finished my meal and I have been sitting on a sofa in this cafe and nobody has bothered me by asking if I want to order something like most restaurants do, a european etiquette which very few places have, cherry on the top is they play good western music too, staff is also very nice, give this 5 stars in all aspects cause I am not a person who wants a cafe where everything looks great but a place which feels great. Give it a shot yoy will be pleasantly surprised.
This might just be the most pleasant and cozy place in all of Mapusa. The ambience is excellent. Décor is quite appealing. Food is way above expectations. We tried the following items off the menu:

The menu is short but adequate. No extravagance. Prices are quite reasonable. Staff is extremely friendly and courteous.
Ruta's World Café and Bar is tucked inside the Fabindia outlet in Mapusa. Though it has an independent entrance they keep it closed for some reason. There is an outdoor seating where smoking is permitted. Parking area can accommodate about 6 four-wheelers.
Overall, a delightful experience. Would visit again for sure.

Very cute little coffee shop in a beautiful old house in Mapusa next to FabIndia. Excellent coffee and baked goods, both sweet and savoury, plus more substantial dishes like pastas and panini if you're in the mood for lunch. Nice selection of cool drinks like juices, coolers and milkshakes, along with wine and beer.
Ruta's is a true hidden gem. The cafe is tucked away in a courtyard to the side of the old portuguese bungalow that houses Fab India in Mapusa, and we found it while shopping there. The inside area is small but charming and there is a large verandah with outdoor seating. The service is warm and friendly and the food is outstanding. We had soup, salad and pasta, all were top notch. The desserts were also very good: brownies, chocolate torte and stickybuns.
Great bakes, I particularly enjoyed the cashew and white chocolate frosting on the carrot cake. The food was good although the bread seemed a little dry in the sandwich.

So, a very good breakfast at a decent rate, nicely situated, no nuisance around ! Just a good place for the perfect brunch. Try out the Pasta and ohh even the Lemon Ice Tea- it's actually the perfect ice tea and the perfect taste of Lemon and Ginger ! The Aunty which sits there is very cute and sweet and also there is an area where you can just do laptop stuff !
Nice and cozy place with a good terrace/outdoor space to chill. Their desserts and drinks are very good. Take your time to read all the description on the menu before deciding! You might end up wanting to try a few items there! ;)
We came across assagao and the beginning of our trip couldn’t have been any better than this.
Very transparency in the making of food and now I'm telling you one thing about Ruta, she looks so actively fresh that a 'good morning' comes out of your mouth even if you meet her at night, well it closed at 6:30 pm but I'm sure about this.

Really loved this place. Saw an article about it on conde nast and decided to try it out. We order a bunch of dishes the cold noodle chicken salad and a couple of pork dishes an egg dish with beans and salsa. Everything was good will definitely be coming here again
