Monday night proved to be an unforgettable experience at π light restaurant located by the river Sal. The Chonok Rava fry (White Snappers) were fresh and cooked to perfection with subtle hints of masala. Moving on to some Butter garlic fried prawns which were lip smacking and awesome. Couple it with the CHEESE LOADED naan to experience the explosion of flavours. Finally top it off with π¦ crab xec xec and plain rice to end the night on a high note. Indeed a seafood haven and a resto worth visiting.
An AWESOME place if you want to binge on some fish dishes. A MUST MUST visit. Prices of dishes vary according to season. Ambience is very cool. Staff too is friendly. Go early as it gets filled up very fast.

Visited this place in October in the afternoon. Ordered for chonak rawa fry and crabs masala along with lepo fry. All the dishes were excellent the fish portion was large and fresh. The crab masala was purely home made style. The best part of this place is definitely the view relaxing and refreshing and away from the city noise. The lepo was ok but reasonable for the price..
Must visit for fresh seafood and relaxation.

River side and next to Assolna jetty with the breathtaking view Pussie Star light restaurant has been my favorite joint for authentic Goan food since childhood day with family to college days witch friends. Now as Iβm based in Dubai, we do make it a point to dine at Star light every visit to Goa. These restaurant serves all fresh fish with various Goan masalas and recipe.
Star light will forever be one of my favorite restaurants.
What makes this place really good is that it's ambience. ie the dining besides the river side and view you get is enchanting.
Their sea food is insane. Specially their masala crabs and squids. Damnn tasty.

In love with the food here. Love the ambience, the service is good and the staff are well mannered. We tried Prawns and Chonak Rava Fry, Crab Xec Xec, Gobi Manchurian, Chicken Sheekh Kebab, Mussels Rava Fry and Butter Garlic Naan. The seafood items were fresh and packed with flavour. The quantities are really good and totally worth the price. Definitely coming back to try some more seafood varieties.

This is my go to place for sea food. Its located on trhe banks of the river so the view is really good . Its always crowded ,irrespective of whether it's the weekend or the weekday . They seafood here is amazing . The the crabs are the highlight . This is the perfect set up for some chilled beers and good seafood.
The owner is very friendly and the service has always been good. I have been going here for years now and with the assolna Cavelossim bridge it makes going to starlight much more frequent .
Parking can be a slight issue so going here by bike is a better option .

This place is amazing for seafood! Although I haven't tried too many things, I loved their crab xec xec. Oozing with flavours and perfectly cooked! Their rawa fried fish was good too. It's usually crowded so it's advisable to go a lil early to grab a table near the adjacent river. Seafood next to the river with cool breeze is how you make your meals perfect here.

Good lake side restaurant with nice sea food options. Tried prawn curry with rice and King fish rava fry. Though prawn curry was not that great compared to other placed i had, the king fish ( Surumi) rava fry was good and had good portion. Ended with caramel pudding which was great.
This place happens to be in interiors of assolna. Beautiful river side restuarant. The staff was friendly. We stuck to ordering only seafood. We tried squid rava fry,bombil(Bombay duck) rava fry prawns ambotik and steam rice. The squid was fresh and crispy delicious, the bombil fry was yummy has well and prawn ambotik was tangy for my taste. The only drawback is they do have card payment system, they do have patym option.
All and all a decent meal on Thursday afternoon.
I've been coming to Star Light for years during my every visit. If you are in Goa during the peak season then this place is always full. I travel during the off season and the place then takes its sweet time to make the dishes also you get to choose from any of the tables beside the bay. Even the vegetarian dish for the odd one out in the group is quite alright ! The prices are reasonable as well.

Star Light is a well known place for it's sea food and on having an event in the south I couldn't miss the opportunity to visit this place. Was welcomed by the waiter Mahesh who really had a good sense of humor. He new the goan menu and knew how everything was prepared. The food came out in a jiffy and we really enjoyed most of the dishes. I didn't give starlight a 5 star is because the squids served were rubbery and the prawn xacuti had less salt in it and had an excessive amount of cinnamon in it. Other than this they view was very nice and the price was just right.

For me this has been one of the most amazing experiences I've come across. I've been here twice. Really enjoy the view of the backwaters to begin with. Anyone who's visiting this place, crab Masala is an absolute must. The size of the crab, quality of the meat and the masala and garnish is beyond superlatives. Also look out for prawns masala fry and rava fry. Pork is another stuff that I'd recommend here. Vindaloo prawns, fish curry and rice are a must. Talk about pure Goan style food, this place is a must visit

Love this place. Tin roof & plastic chairs will not look that appealing. But nestled next to the river will surely appeal to nostalgia lovers. Once the food is served on ur plate thou (only if u r a die hard sea food lover thou) u will forget about everything else. The crabs over here are the highlight of the show, 7 fair size crabs in succulent xec-xec masala is heavenly to say the least. And that too for just βΉ 600. Finally made it to this place! Reached a little late and so all the riverside tables were occupied. Calling ahead and booking a table doesn't really help! Anyways, the food.. It was quite good. Rawa fried prawns, garlic squids, prawns curry and rice were all tasty! But the star of the show was the crab masala! Beautifully spiced and cooked! Do give it a try. The prices are surprisingly low! Star Light is a perfect lunch option for those who want an authentic Goan meal. Located by the river with live music and that chilled bottle of Kings beer, makes you feel so relaxed. It is located in the far south of Goa which makes it bad for us North Goan foodies π
And yes you will have to find that parking spot so do plan well and be there before the crowd.
The food is just amazing. We ordered prawn curry rice and a-lot of fish. The fish is all fresh and very delicious. Although it was only two of us we loved the prawn curry so much that we ordered another one. Iβm not a fan of Bombay duck but we ordered it because my Bengali friend insisted that he wanted to eat Bombay duck. And boy that was some awesome fried Bombay duck. The only down side was the size of the mussels. Very tiny ones but the portion size was amazing.

Oh my. One of the best place when it comes to sea food. We had our Reunion for around 11 people and the bill was awesome. 11,000 RS in total and the amount of food we ordered was too good . 2 big platters of spicy crabs, Rawa friend tiger prawns, Squid chilly fry, Prawn masala, Ki g fish, Paneer till and what not. Had great fun sitting near the lake.

Don't go for any Chinese dishes here. This place has the best fish fingers I could find, hands down. Rawa fried prawns are delectable. Calamari is good but it's tenderness happens to vary. Rawa fried Mussels are finger licking good. You can try the crabs too. Also consider the catch of the day, you might just be surprised. If you happen to visit the place for dinner, the surrounding and the lighting will tempt you to take a glance at the drinks menu.Please do so.If it's lunch, grab a beer. I always have a beezer meal at this place and it's worth every penny.

Crab Xec Xec is brilliant, 5 big crabs with claws still attached in perfect masala that isn't too spicy or too bland. Team it with a chilli cheese garlic naan.
Prawn curry- rice is good too.

The local cuisine is very good and the service is very good and fast. Ambiance is average and the place gets overcrowded as there are tables everywhere and it gets difficult to move around. Good place for fresh seafood. The river front view is only good in the day.
Starlight a.k.a "pussie's" is a go-to place for seafood they say. And it did stand upto the mark. I'm not a seafood person but with what my friends said, the batter fried squids and butter garlic prawns did sound very delicious and met their expectations. You don't have to worry if you're someone like me stuck among a group of seafood lovers. They have a plenty of options for us as well. I had ordered beef chilly, chicken 65 and french fries. The Beef chilly was cooked right to the point and was very yummy. Chicken 65 on the other hand tasted good but pretty normal. With riverside view and peaceful setting is assolna, it's an ideal place to chill over a beer and some tasty food with your friends :) Cheers!

This is just one of your regular shacks along the Riverside, but serving extra ordinary food. The ambience is not all that great, atleast during nights. It could get quite hot and a bit stuffy in here during summers.
But if you're a complete foodie and sucker for sea food you won't be disappointed. Any of their fish based dish is a delight. USP being crab xec xec. The best I've ever had. The fish is fresh and preparation is top notch be it squids, mussels, prawns, kingfish. The chicken dishes are not quite upto the mark. Quite reasonable prices which don't burn a hole in your pocket. Good for large meet ups.
Been here a couple of times and was never disappointed. The seafood served here is the best one. Always fresh and delicious. Their fish tandoor is a perfect blend of spices and the natural flavour of the fish. A must visit for all seafood lovers.

It is a good place and a very well known location in its area. In terms of what it offers is good food, lovely music and good seating area. However, seating anywhere else other than near the river/lake, is not worth it, it makes it feel like something is lacking and sometimes the music can be a bit too loud making it harder to talk and hold conversations.

Good place with good ambience , may get heated up during summers since there is no AC. Located in assolna riverside one can enjoy river view with good food. Usually crowded and famous for sea food. Rates are reasonable. Few items like Goan dishes may contain vinegar.
The food here is really awesome and adding charm on it is its location .. just located on the banks of river sal. This place offers you authentic Goan cuisine. The fish fry like chonak, prawns King fish offers here with rava fry rachado or masala fry are going to tingle your tastebuds. Be sure to reach soon to get a table next to the river bank both in the noons and evening. Budget wise it's not too expensive and I had been here with three friends we had lots of fish and beer and alcohol and our bill was 2937 so around 1000 per head.

Probably dined here over 25 times, Best seafood, always fresh. This visit they were quite busy and didn't focus on plating but food was good. must try mussels, Bombay duck, squids, sole fish.
With a beautiful riverside view this place is well known for its seafood and doesn't disappoint. Whatever dish you like be it a prawns raechado or a mussels rava fry they serve it fresh and tasty. We had sausage pulao as well as a sausage chilli fry and tongue chilli fry which was yummy.
A special shoutout to Mahesh who took extra special care of us from the food to the drinks and made one of our friends a hot beverage for her cold. He even made sure we enjoyed the homemade desserts served there and made the experience a memorable one.
Being a Goan knowing the home taste of Goan Cuisine, when traveling to South Goa we always visit this place for Dine in to have Fish.
