Wwwoooowwwwwwwwwww hearty meal ..i was having brunch there...and it was awesome ..the summer tartarine and the sweet delicacies... was finger licking and lip smackilicious... the best part they use sour dough and health consious food but cant regret the sweet part .... they ammmaazziinngg ...please do try it .. will come again.
A list on a blog site brought me here and I really liked the ambience although I had a takeaway because of the covid situation . Based on reviews I tried their crossaint , Quiche and Almond Crossaint . The menu is quite limited and slightly on tbe pricey side but I get why - because portion is huge and quality is excellent. All staff knew their pronunciation and that blew me away ! Maybe next time here I'll try something more in a diner style.
I must say this was the best decision I took to have brunch in BREAD & CHOCOLATE. Although many items were already run out but whatever we had was worth it. We ordered Melba sandwich and iced cold coffee. Trust me these were heavenly. Also, you would get one of the best croissants here in Auroville. Do try almond and chocolate croissants once you're here.
So, I was in Auroville during my trip to Pondicherry a couple of years ago ; was exploring for some balmy outdoor places to have our morning breakfast. Towards Mantrimandir, we came across this elegant and intimate place called Bread & Chocolate. It is an excellent sit-down space to have a substantial and wholesome breakfast. Although, I would suggest you to go bit early as they run out many items since they prefer to serve only fresh products to their customers. It is mostly visited by foreigners.
They serve one of the best Croissants you may have across India and I am not exaggerating at all, they really are. They have too many Vegan options as well. They are quite famous for their Breakfast bowls (Acai, Chia), Sourdough sandwiches, Apple Tart with puff pastry base and the best of all Cold chocolate. I ordered a lactose free option, since they did not have any lactose free milk, they served me this drink with Coconut milk. It was really different for me, since I never had any Chocolate drink with Coconut milk, but I really fell in love with it ! All the delicacies they serve are super fresh and made with local ingredients. The staff is very courteous and polite.
So next time when you visit Auroville, this place should definitely be there on your itenery !
The Place is Bustling with people and Bread and Chocolate has a large offering list.
We reached around noon so it was a bit hard to grab a table and we could manage it only after some time.
The queue to order was ever increasing. All this was paid off well when we sipped our coffee and ate our Ice cream.
We had a chill out chocolate and an ice cold coffee. To eat we ordered a chocolate tart and a chocolate mint ice cream.
Everything was superbly nice. A must visit place.
Bread and Chocolate is THE BEST PLACE I've eaten at,in Pondicherry. The food is sooo delicious and authentic, it's hard to not fall in love. Their baked goods are to die for, service is super quick and the menu is vast enough for everyone to get something of their liking. They serve everything from sandwiches to smoothie bowls to croissants and more! Coming to the food, we had-
• The Apple Tart- the.best.tart.i've.ever.had. The apples were absolutely delicious, beautifully caramelised and the tart shell ohh miii! It was perfect! It was crisp, not even a tad bit soggy and you could really appreciate the different layers of the filo. It was coated with some sugar too to add a bit of sweet crunch
MUST HAVE
•Mushroom and egg quiche- I'm a huge fan of quiches and this one was by far the best I've ever had! The quiche was again, masterfully made with distinct layers of filo, super crunchy. The mushrooms were deliciously earth, the eggs were sooooo beautifully cooked , they were luscious and creamy and almost added on to the flavours of the the cheese. Every ingredient was celebrated and heroed in its own special way. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
I absolutely loved eating here, this is one place you definitely can't miss!
Quite a nice place with good flavoursome food. It gets a little crowded too soon so reserving seats for a large group is a task. Preparation takes quite a while and they do go out of stock quite often- something that should be looked into. If you have a taste bud for European cuisine, this is the place though. I also liked the fact that the facility is primarily run by females. More power to them.
There's no better place than BNC for food. Everything on their menu is worth a trial a hundred times. I've tried the breakfast board, saigon sandwich, cheese please sandwich, summertime tartine, chocolate tart, all the croissants, fig+banana smoothie, chill out chocolate smoothie in addition to their breakfast sandwiches, cookies and bonbons. I'm a fan of everything and I cannot point out a single fault in their services or their food. I also love the fact that it's a place run in majority by local women as staff. Cheers to chef mark and his unbelievable skills.
Breakfast items are almost over by the time you reach there. Tried to order a few things which were already over. Tried the chocolate pie and it was decadent. Never tasted a better pie. Perfect balance of sweet in it.
Usual brekkie spot whenever we decide to spend the weekend in Pondy! Sad to say Chennai doesn’t have a single place which serves good croissants. Being a croissant fanatic, I really do hope you guys expand!
Fell in love with everything we ate. Great decision to order the quinoa bowls and end the meal with this gorgeous chocolate dessert. Loved the freshness of lunch, especially the cheese! Greens were fresh, and crisp. Pickled onions and sundried tomatoes were a lovely touch.
Very professional staff but very little vegetarian options in dessert we tried the only veg option available the orange vegan cake and it was amazing we cake back again just for the cake
If you are in Pondicherry, you shouldn't lose this opportunity to grabbing some fine breakfast or lunch menu. It has the most exclusive menu I have had. The smoothie bowl was amazing, I wish I can get the same in Bengaluru. Try their cookies as well. Loved the place. I tried Turmeric and ginger spiritizer, so I will not recommend you try that as the it has very strong taste of ginger which was unexpected. :( Apart from this everything was amazing. Glad I didn't miss this
This place won my heart. Food and ambience was so good !
I was suggested this place by a friend and every bit of it was worth the hype .Ambience was great but you may have to wait to get a seat as travellers and locals flock to taste the delicious french cuisine.Food is great, they offer wide variety of options for lunch and breakfast.Especially focaccia bread and strawberry croissant was amazing.Price is very reasonable.
Stop by at Bread and Chocolate for some fulfilling sourdough, croissants and good ol French press coffee. We also tried summertime tartine which was delicious, and mushroom sandwich. The Greek yogurt and tomato salad really knocked a punch with the sandwich. Avoid chocolate milkshake if you're not a fan of dark chocolate and vegan milk. Try out something from their weekly menu! You can also grab some Mason Jar and Co chocolates here.
My vacation at Pondicherry began with a hearty breakfast at this cafe.
This popular yet quaint little cafe in Auroville is flocked with travelers and tourists from all over India and abroad, serving some delicious and nutritious breakfast and lunch options.Ranging from a healthy smoothie bowl to freshly baked crossaints they have it all.
We ordered:-
1)Almond and Chocolate - Freshly baked crossaint filled with chocolate.
2)Cinnamon Cacao Butter Toast - Fresh baked bread toasted and paired with cinnamon cacao butter is the most delicious yet healthy way to start your day!
3)Pour over coffee - This was my first time trying Pourover coffee. It's a lighter filter coffee brewed to perfection. If you are a coffee connoisseur than you will definitely love it since it's let's you enjoy the true essence and flavours of the freshly brewed coffee.
.
.
Adjacent to this cafe you can also shop for some Mason & Co chocolates and their other products to take home some sweet and delicious memories....

Food - 5/5
Ambience - 4/5
Service - 3.5/5
Good ambience , nice coffee and great breakfast.
After browsing on Zomato, I was so keen on visiting this place when I was in Pondicherry and it paid all the dividends. The food here is just so fresh and luckily I was here for Breakfast and there were freshly made Pies and Croissants kept in the counter. There are some very nice sandwiches to try along with what is fresh on the counter. They also make very good Nutella Croissants
The food is great here and very authentic. It’s slightly expensive but I feel it’s worth it for the quality and price.
I highly recommend visiting this french bakery.
Uff! This place was amazing. It is a vegan/veg cafe and the food is worth every penny. I had ordered tropical fruit bowl and green smoothie. Both of them were on point. Out of all thr fancy/pricy cafes I went to, this was the best. The quantity justified the price and Ambience of course. They also had other things to buy like dark chocolates, peanut butter etc. We alsi tried pita chips with salsa and they were also very different yet very healthy/tasty. The place is filled with foreigners and you will get a hippy, don't care vibes from everyone around there. A must visit place guys, recommended- 100/100.
This place is on everyone's list if you're in Pondicherry. And I wasn't disappointed.
Though I couldn't try their super famous croissants cause they're available only early morning, but I liked all I tried.
- Sourdough bread sandwiches are delicious.
- Mason & Co Hot Chocolate needed a bit of sugar to sweeten my drink, but that's a personal choice.
- Vegan Spanish Frittata, to be honest, I'd love to have it with eggs, but since it was vegan, loved the grilled bell peppers and microgreens with the dip.
Recently we visited Puducherry and before heading out we did some research and found out this place which is located in Auroville.
We were thrilled to checkout the place and it did not disappoint us. It has an outside as well as inside seating with plants kept all around the place.
Things we ordered -
1. French press and Lattè - This was like usual good coffee that we ordered.
2. Orange cake -This was an amazing cake with a just the right amount of orange flavour in it. It was topped with slices of orange zest which gave it an extra kick. Although it looked heavy but it was pretty soft and light. Something we would recommend to order.
3. Chocolate cookie - This was like a choco lava cake but with a cookie crust. It was completely filled with chocolate in each bite. Not too sweet and perfect to go with coffee.
4. Summertime Tartine - This was a combination of their homemade sourdough bread, poached eggs, sun-dried tomatoes, beetroot salad and white butter. The presentation of the dish was beautiful and the taste was amazing, something different from a regular sandwich. Sufficient portion for one person. Recommended to order upon visit.
5. Mushroom Sandwich - This sandwich was served with a side of tomatoes and onion salad. It also had a garlic yogurt sauce to go with it. It was completely filled with mushroom filling and again sufficient portion for a single person.
Overall it was a delight to us. The only minus point with this place is it shuts down very early, like by 5 pm. There might be some reason for it but we would want to visit such a place even beyond 5 pm.
This place is beautifully decorated and maintained. Try anything you want . All the bakery items are awesome. We tried orange cake, shakshouka, summer time tartine and smoothy bowl. All taste exceptional. Try to go early as its get crowded with time specially during holiday season. Great food good experience 😀
The place is crowded and long wait for the food. But food tastes amazing. Definitely worth a visit to this place.
Loved the Pancake and the Fig and banana smoothie I’d ordered. Ambience seemed okayish , there were a lot of house flies though which were troublesome. Could do with some better seating and more space. Great menu and variety. The chocolates are a take away.
We went to Bread and Chocolate first thing in the morning for breakfast. They had the most amazing croissants (both regular croissant and chocolate croissant). Sourdough sandwiches were a bit hard, so we didn't like a lot. Coffee and Fig/Banana shake were good too. Setting on the Auroville road was beautiful. Go there for their baked items, which are out of the world especially croissants.
Every person travelling to Pondicherry, must visit this amazing place! Great vibes, cozy ambience, good food and courteous staff! Also do take home their peanut butters, best ever !
Visited this place after carefully browsing through countless reviews and needless to say, I was not disappointed. It was quite expensive, cost us around 500 INR for 4 pieces of pastry, but they tasted exceptionally good.
We got 2 Butter Croissants, each priced at 90 INR and frankly it was one of the best croissants i have ever had. The texture was perfect and it was fresh.
The almond and fig tart was was good, but the filling wasn't that good in my opinion.
The Strawberry tart was really good and retained its texture when I ate it almost 6 hours after purchase.
The only problem was that many items were not available even though we went at around 11 am and we were not able to buy sandwiches as the wait time was too long
Otherwise it was a great experience
An amazing place for breakfast especially if you want to try a bit of French cuisine. There are so many options on the menu and the only drawback would be not being able to taste it all at once. The food, the staff and the ambience all need a mention. Tried mushroom quiche and it was the best with light and layered and crispy puff pastry.
The place is must visit in pondicherry. The desserts are worth tasting.

This place has a part of my heart
How can one miss the quaint little café while heading to Auroville.
The moment we reached Auroville at 8.00 in the morning, we knew already where we were eating our breakfast from.
100% instagramable!! Locally sourced and crafted chocolates, cocoa butter, peanut butter, amazing vegan options and croissants.
Their croissants are to die for.
We had some of the best coffee and snacks during our time at Auroville 🌸
We reached just while they were wrapping it up for the day. Managed to only get a couple of chocolate croissants and a cashew nut delight from the bakery section.
Wish we could have tried out stuff from their cafeteria.
Will definitely come back here again whenever i. auroville next!

I loved the breakfast so much that we ended up eating lunch there and next day we travelled 13km again only to have breakfast...
The best place in pondi... Thank you..
So perfect. I was in Pondicherry for two days and I visited this place four times. Everything I had here was such a delight. The quality of the bread is top-notch, I don't think I've had better sourdough or croissant anyplace else. Worth every single penny. Big hug and respect!
Loved the chocolate chip cookies 😋
I went here for just a quick snack. Was in a total rush. Wanted to get their croissants and breads to go. Unfortunately it was over by lunch time. So bought their fresh batch of chocolate cake. Costed Rs 190 per piece. Was such a delight. So good. Literally the best cake I've tasted. The layers were perfectly made. Will definitely go back to try out their menu. A must try place in Pondicherry.❤️💯
We were so hungry when we got here and it was peak lunch time so took a little while for us to get the food, but it was worth the wait. When the food arrived, we just hogged and I forgot to take any pics.. we had tofu on toast, garden sandwich and asian bowl. There were a lot of vegan options to choose from and all dishes we ordered were delicious. Will highly recommend this place to all. It's definitely a Must Try for those in the vicinity. Lunch time is 12-4 , try to be on time as they may run out of the items you want to try. We reached at 2, and a few things on the daily special were already sold out.
Deliciously delicious breakfast I ever had. Croissant was unbelievable.. All food were heavenly tasty. Please visit this place if you want to try new cuisine. Good place for having breakfast.
One the best croissants I've had so far. Visit for the croissant and chocolate. The sandwiches are served post 12 in case you're planning to visit for those.
100% ‘instagramable’!! The croissants were delicious and fresh! Coming from Brisbane, I can find a sense of belonging here. Not sure if the owner is from Australia but the whole concept and decoration is in high quality and trendy. I ordered the plain croissant and it was lovely. Some of the croissants are not available sometimes. Wifi is stable and free here. The only improvement is the coffee. I think it’s sour but the coffee taste is not strong Enright. Overall, Highly recommended.
The p&b chocolate shake and mushroom
Quiche were to die for. Although a little pricey compared to other places I thoroughly enjoyed the authentic taste of France and raw food here 😍
Everything that we ordered here was totally worth it! But had a run in tiff with one of the servers, maybe it was just error in communication; so all good, just wanted to put it out there though: we needed something to be heated, instead of telling your customers/ visitors how you serve it, you could go with the approach of pleasing them instead. We all have our own ways of intake of food! But I loved all their goodies and packs, other staff were nice too. I’m sure the little off incident wasn’t intended on. Should drop in!
You enter this café and you'll be transported to a quaint little French town serving authentic croissants, tarts, coffee and sour dough breads. The moment we set foot on Auroville at 7.30 in the morning, we knew already where we were eating our breakfast from.
This cafe is one of the first to open up in the morning and people start pouring in right away. We seated ourselves at a corner table, with sore backs and groggy sleepless eyes from the long and tiring overnight car journey. Hence, no time was wasted in ordering a pot of Camomile tea. Along with that we took the El Bulli, Tropical Smoothie Bowl, Plain and Chocolate Croissant and Coffee.
The tea came first and left us in awe. Infused with bulbs of dried Camomile, the tea was authentically soothing and just what was needed for our crying joints. The El Bulli was more of a dessert item, being loaded with dark chocolate shavings and coconut. But damn was it tasty!
Tropical smoothie bowl was pretty fancy and filling by itself. Healthy and fresh as the first spring breeze.
Finally we dug into the star items of the place. The croissants! I can say for sure, I have never had better croissants before. The crust was perfectly flaky and crisp with the soft, gooey and buttery insides. Each bite melted in our mouths and directly seeped down to the soul.
We left with very happy tummies and hearts and came back everyday to eat something or the other from this place, the entire time we stayed at Auroville.
This place was pretty much the highlight of our weekend trip to auroville/pondy. We were staying just 5 minutes from this place and safe to say that the croissants here are the best I have tasted in India. After staying for more than 10 years in US, and eating croissants almost every weekend from some of the best shops there, I was really feeling deprived when we moved back to India. And safe to say this place reminded me of my weekend croissant and coffee dates with hubby from US days. We pretty much ate every breakfast here for the 3 days we stayed in this area. They have some amazing non-croissant brekkie items too. Plus, their sourdough is amazing! This place gets extremely rushed during peak brekkie and lunch hours. For one of the lunches here we ended up waiting almost and hour for the food. My recommendation would be to come early for breakfast (close to when they open) and spend a leisurely time sipping their coffee and carb loading on their croissants. Before heading back to bangalore we packed some of their delicious croissants for home (they stay good frozen for quite some time). The swiss guy in the shop is very nice too and we had some good time chatting up about good croissants.
The place has a very nice vibe with casual seating outside. There are a few tables inside but I would recommend to sit outdoors if the weather permits. We ordered a Apple Cinnamon Tart and it turned out to be fabulous. We also had regular cold coffee which was specially made since they have a iced cold coffee with Coconut milk. I did not want that and the server was kind enough to offer switching to normal milk. That too was very good. For food we had a sourdough sandwich ‘Provencal’ and it was perfect. Highly recommended place if u are anywhere around Pondy or Auroville
Wid less days and soo much to explore...we just did take awayy from dis placee...croissants are ro die for and ther choclates...must tryy..and der cold.coofee is reallly specialll...mustt must visit place.they have many more thngs to try...so deftnly goooo
Very pretty ppace located a little away from the main market but very beautiful place to have your food. The staff is polite and talks in English Only. And the food is ultimate. Never knew even healty food could taste incredible. They make the perfect Instagram looking food. A must visit place in pondicherry.
Food I ordered
1. Summertime tartine 🍭🍭🍭🍭🍭
2. Chia Seeds pudding Bowl🍭🍭🍭🍭🍭
3. Apple pie🍭🍭
4. Pita bread chips and gaucamole🍭🍭🍭
You know a place is splendid when the aromas have you enthralled, the vibe around you is positive, and the host pleasantly smiles at you the minute you step foot in. Auroville has everything topnotch and this is one place you cannot miss when visiting it. My friends and I dropped here for breakfast after thorough research on the kind of food we would like to have and we couldn't help ourselves from overeating.
Focaccia Bread: Rich in taste and wonderfully made. It was crisp on the outside and soft inside, making for an ideal choice to go with lunches and dinners, soups, stews, sliced in half and used for sandwiches, or just plain good ol' butter. This was by all means international standards and had me tempted to try their sandwich. (5/5)
Focaccia Sandwich: When the bread is so yum just imagine how delicious the sandwich would have been. Perfect farm picked vegetables limited, but crunchy as ever bell peppers, lettuce, and feta cheese. We could do with a lil brushing of rosemary and olive oil on this one to make it absolutely amazing because somewhere I felt it lacked the punch of a sandwich. (4/5)
Mushroom Quiche: From not being a fan of quiche to loving every morsel this place changed the definition of quiche forever for my friend. Tender and savory mushrooms that made for a crusty, pretty deep dish pie. From what I hear, they couldn't stop drooling over this one. (5/5)
Green Giant: Looking for a quick fix post your workout that will leave you feeling fuller for longer? Green Giant is your go to drink. 5 star treatment for the cost we paid for this one for sure. It was a brilliant concoction of bananas, mint, and lettuce with a drizzle of honey, some chia seeds submersed in coconut water. Beautiful looking drink and delicious to the last drop. One lil thing worth mentioning is that they charged us an exorbitant amount for packaging the leftover smoothie. 30 bucks is a tad bit much, no? (5/5)
Breakfast Board: A generous spread of breakfast items that should suffice easily until late lunch hours. This is where we definitely did overeat. Rusk topped with peanut butter and fig jam paired with another rusk topped with scrambled soya, muesli with toppings of pomegranate seeds and bananas along with a small bowl of milk. Slightly expensive on the pocket, but worth the meal if you are going to follow a diet for lighter lunch and lightest dinner. (4/5)
Sponge Cake: I can't believe this place serves vegan cakes. It was the freshest, most luscious, and spongiest cake I've ever laid my eyes, hands, and tongue on. It was vegan! I still can't come to terms with it. It was toothsome and I couldn't stop myself from taking 3 other bites despite declaring being full at the very start of breakfast board. Perhaps foodgasm became a thing after having this very cake. (5/5)
Overall, the quality of food speaks for itself. There is freshness, variety, and the sheer love of food that speaks to the foodie in you with every bite you take. Please do not miss out on this place if and when visting Auroville! Bon appétit!
Bread & Chocolate is a beautiful cafe situated in the heart of Auroville. Boasting of chocolate from Mason & Co, coffee from Blue Tokai, and freshly baked croissants, these were enough for me to make my way to this place.
We decided to head here before we set on our journey back to Bangalore. So we got here and I tried the El Bulli with is basically grated chocolate on sourdough toast with sea salt and honey on the side. To balance out the flavours, I got an americano. Both tasted amazing and kept me going through the day. Took a bite of the croissant and was highly impressed by the quality of it. Even the air pockets that were so clearly defined after slicing it was enough proof of how good these were.
Overall, I highly recommend this place for a meal because of its carefree vibe!
This place is so amazing, with both outdoor and indoor seating. They have fresh and healthy options. Its very popular amongst tourists and foreigners. one might find difficult in getting a seat as it's mostly packed ( when we went in December) . The bowls are very much filing and it's lovely to spent time there.
The yummiest food you can find if you favour something Western and something vegan.. so husband had a masakka (hopefully the right name) tartine and I had a vegan (being vegetarian) spanish toast.. both were extremely good. But I did find the tortilla too heavy to finish considering we ate one mini sandwich before we started and a latte coffee (bestest).. nothing to do here but enjoy your meal and keep the tummie happie 😋 it is a little expensive but it was worth it 🥰
This is one of the best places for hot chocolate! Go for their special Barbajada (hot chocolate with a shot of coffee). Their coffees, cookies and everything is simply awesome!
We tried affogato (coffee poured over chocolate ice cream). That was also really good.
Will try some sandwiches for sure next time I visit!
Lovely place :)
One of the cutest place in auroville.... I heard about chocolate croissant and coffee a must try... So I tried both I must say chocolate croissant was the best I have ever had in my entire life ❤️ coffee was good as well also I have tried breakfast I didn't remember the name I have shared the images it was good and healthy 😊
Also I bought some chocolate from there 3 varieties it's was so pure and awesome in taste.
It's a must visit big thumbs up from my side 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Our first day in Auroville and we started our day from Bread & Chocolate.
Well, if you have no time and you want to get hang of Auroville this is the place. Just go sit, order and observe people you’ll feel happy within.
Varieties of people but they are so humble towards each other; simply beautiful.
We ordered:
1) Chocolate Croissant
2) Summertime Tartine (I still can't explain exactly what all was there but it was something different we tried and all I can say is, it is healthy stuff my body felt bliss after having this kind of breakfast because we Indians are so used to unhealthy stuff.)
Do try if you ever visit this place.
As I told you people in Auroville itself is so soft-spoken, humble and gentle towards others imagine the services are beyond nicer.
This way of talking and culture should be taught across India.
Divine pastries, tarts, quiches! All their dishes including their smoothies are totally delicious. We ordered the mango yogurt smothie and the mango chia seeds smoothie, a quiche, the focaccia sandwich, chocolate cookie and a chocolate tart. The quiche was featherlight and melt in your mouth. The tart was perfectly crunchy and crumbled in our mouths. This is a definite must visit the next time you are in Pondicherry.
I went for a breakfast at this amazing place came back having brunch. 😂 Do try their breakfast menu. The best crossiant I had till date. Everything was so fresh from smoothie bowls to juices to sandwiches. The french woman running this place was sweet enough to tell us about "Bread & Chocolate", why specifically this name and it's history. I'm definitely gonna visit this place again.
Amazing awsum authentic organic are words to describe this place....really good food with great taste served and prepared in their own style.
Love the vibes here....slightly overpriced but worth to give a shot.
A small cafe with inside & outside sitting arrangements.. Mainly crowded by foreigners..
As the shop name suggest varieties of chocolates are available..
I mainly tried item like crossient & chocolate tart..
Crossient was supper its very soft & its melting in mouth..
Coming to chocolate tart.. fully loaded with chocolate, walnuts & chocochips.. chocolate has a unique flavor.. perfect sweetness.. not so sweet..
Coffee was good 👌 flavor & aroma was awesome..
Some people may fill little expensive... But it's worth..
Must try place in Auroville, Pondicherry..
I just cannot believe that how Did I leave this place without Reviewing.. One place That I enjoyed soo much In pondy.
I loved every bit of this place.
Love the vibe, love the ambience and ofcourse love their Foood 😭😋😋😋
I am missing so much of this place and their pesto nd Poached egg salad with quinoa 😋😋😭😭 nd my vegen Hot Cocoa. BEST BREAKFAST I HAD IN A LOONG TIME . And because of them I became an Addict for Fresh Coconut Milk Coffee and Hot Cocoa .
And I love How they use only Reusable utensils even their Stainless Steel Straw 😋😋😋😋😋
Best French restaurant in pondy, Hands down. Their French press was one the finest brew I ever had. After that coffee I've been visiting this place every time I visit pondy.
A very nice little cafe on the way to Auroville. They have some really amazing desserts. I had an almond croissant over here and it was awesome. The green juice with banana and cucumber was amazingly refreshing. Make sure to take a pitstop here enroute Auroville from Pondicherry.
If you are in Pondicherry and still didn't tried french cuisine then you are wasting your time.
Way to Auroville from white town is long and if you are looking for a place on the way, Bread and chocolate is the best one.
It's bakery where you get fresh and amazing french cuisine.
FOOD :
We tried,
Tofu and croissant.
The chcolate croissant here are the best one. So soft and fresh. It was so amazing that one croissant couldn't do justice to my stomach.😅
Tofu was also a good option, the quantity of tofu is really good like one can hardly finish the whole dish.
BEVERAGES :
total 3 shakes we tried, out of which I loved chill out chocolate. It did full justice to the strong and sweet flavour of chocolate.
Where as red velvet was total opposite, I don't know if it's supposed to be like that but the taste was not as expected.
Not sweet or a taste of milkshake we expect.
It was more like a carrot juice 😅 I still can feel the taste of it even after 2 months. It was that strong.
AMBIANCE :
Place is small and cozh with both in and out sitting arrangements. They also have chocolate bars to sale. Don't miss out that section.
Anyway the overall experience here was great and memorable.
Thank you for the service.❤️
The best fruit salad i could have in puducherry. The place is so beautiful and small cute cafe which serves the best of dishes in a great way. The rates are quite expensive but then its value for money. The location is some kms away from auroville visitor centre. Overall a must must try cafe once when you are in pondicherry or auroville.. Cheers ..
I visited this cafe recently and was impressed by several aspects. Firstly, the food was excellent, offering a variety of delicious tastes. The cafe also had ample parking, which made my visit convenient. The space was neat and clean, creating a pleasant dining environment. I particularly appreciated the healthy, high-protein English breakfast options, which made for a satisfying and nutritious meal. Overall, a great place for good food, variety, and a pleasant dining experience with convenient parking.
My favorite place for my vegan cappuccino (with coconut milk; my request would be to also add the option for oat milk!). Also highly impressed by the incredible quality of the veggie roast on toast (see photo) and the green smoothie (almost a meal on itself). The service is medium. They don't take orders from the table and when it's very busy (especially in weekends) they asked me to leave the moment I finished my cappuccino to make place for other customers (which to a certain extent I understand, though I would prefer a little bit more transition time).
Extremely simple yet delicious breakfast.
We had plain croissant, orange juice, mocha, cold sandwich, quiche. All very tasty and they have used fresh ingredients.
It is absolutely worth the price of what you are paying for.
The atmosphere is not the best as it is crowded with tourists, that do not know the sense of a waiting line, and also the speedbreaker outside that makes it tough to make our eating experience better.
Their coffee has significantly improved over the past few years, which is a huge bonus for the morning brunches.
The food is on the higher end, but however you do not have to think twice about the portions nor the taste because they are always good, you can never expect it to go wrong!
It gets crowded so best to go when it opens.
For the people complaining over the chocolate, this is how real chocolate tastes like! And the bread is sour, because they use sourdough!
Not the best place for you if you’re picky, or tasteless
This is a must visit for me everytime I am in Pondy. Love their menu especially all the chocolaty stuff they have. The cookies are a must try.. the brownie is great. The bowls they have are also amazing. Especially the ones with Quinoa, they are super tasty. We also tried their sourdough sandwiches and liked them. The pita bread sticks and hummus was good too. Will come again for their bowls and dessert.
One word - Outstanding !
Absolutely loved our brunch meal after Auroville visit here at Bread & Chocolate. The servers were kind and served us with a smile. They have indoor as well as outdoor seating. Outdoor is a little more peaceful I feel, as it is spread out.
We loved the Mango smoothie - Chilled, smooth and so fulfilling. The cold Chocolate was amazing as well - dark chocolate shake with cocoa sweet nibs. Their Chocolate bonbon cake was heavenly ! The mushroom sandwich was heavily stuffed with mushroom as well as cheese - Grilled cheese kind.
I would recommend this place to everyone to at least try their smoothie and smoothie bowls.
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Bread & Chocolate in Pondicherry, an establishment that specializes in bakery products. As a lover of baked goods, I was eager to try out their offerings, and I must say that I was impressed with the quality of the food.
The bakery at Bread & Chocolate is known for its fresh bakes, and they certainly live up to their reputation. The croissants were flaky and buttery and the pancakes were fluffy and served with a delightful assortment of toppings. The cold sandwiches were also a highlight, with a variety of fillings that complemented the freshly baked bread.
However, despite the excellent food, there were a few aspects of Bread & Chocolate that left something to be desired. Firstly, the popularity of the place meant that there were often long wait times. Unfortunately, there was no proper order in the waiting queue, so it felt like a bit of a free-for-all to secure an available table. This lack of organization can be frustrating for customers, especially during busy periods.
Another factor to consider is the pricing. Bread & Chocolate leans towards the expensive side, which may not be suitable for those on a tight budget. While the quality of the food justifies the higher prices to some extent, it would be more appealing if the prices were slightly more reasonable.
In conclusion, Bread & Chocolate in Pondicherry is a bakery that offers excellent quality food. Their croissants, pancakes, and cold sandwiches are definitely worth trying. However, be prepared for long wait times and a bit of chaos when it comes to finding a table. While the prices are on the expensive side, the overall experience and the taste of the food make it a place worth visiting, especially for bakery enthusiasts.
The food was great. We ordered a sandwich and a tomato pesto quiche along with ginger ale. Very tasty food. But even at 9 am, the place was super crowded. I'd suggest to go in multiples, one person tries to get a table while another person stands in queue to order. Would recommend going through the menu earlier so you can order fast. The food was very filling and reasonably priced at 580 for two persons. Ambience is just okay.
Sour dough bread and cheese heaven.
On an expensive side, but worth the money. Drove from Chennai to this place based on the reviews and was not disappointed with the place.
Croissant is a must try and also order anything with sour dough breads, you won't be disappointed.
Filling quantity, awesome taste and a good ambience too.
Their green sandwich is a must try thing, the sauce in that was very good. Fresh fruit juice, croissant, fruit bowl everything was very good.
We also had mustard sandwich there mustard was on very higher level so if you are mustard lover you will like it.
It has nice french vibe in to it. It is situated on the way to auroville. We ordered chocolate croissant and hot chocolate drink. It was our first experience to these types of food and It was good.We enjoyed it.
Quaint place. Amazing for baked items . Loved the croissant. Pls go early else they have short supply. Everything is billed. Included 2 spoons of homemade Mango jam at 25 rupees. I found that appalling. Banana bread is somewhat pasty from all the almond butter spread. Hot Sandwich was awesome. This place is a insta Hattie. Somewhere in the throngs of people they have forgotten their service. Would recommend the owners to add more egg dishes. Have a variety ready on weekends when pondy goes crazy.
Great place with a great vibe.
Tried the bread chocolate - it was average.
Tried the hot chocolate - it was bad.
Cappuccino was good.
Slightly Expensive place.
Another iconic spot in Pondy. Every visit, I make sure to stop here before heading to Auroville! I've been here way too many times that I lost count.
The one in Chennai is not as good :)
My trips to Pondy are incomplete without going here! Definitely recommend this place and I can't get enough of how good the food is.
The space is good, the service is also good. The cinnamon bun and croissant amazing. The breakfast we ate was also good, but the signature bread they make is a little hard to chew. The sandwich also was tasty.
The place gets crowded very soon. But the ambience is good for a chat and food.
Very good Cafe...food was awesome 5 star..however so little space to sit inside in AC (which you want to do in Pondicherry heat) and a little more care to make seating comfortable outside like a cooler or something would be nice.
Food was not that great…. In all over my Pondi trip this cafe was not that great … the food was just aesthetically looking great … but taste wise it was below average… I tried there shakshuka it was just tomato and onion gravy and 2nd it was smoothie bowl which was bit bitter… the cold sandwich was great…it was really yum in taste.
