The Best Fish fry ever. Freshness, Crunchyness, and the juicy meet of fish... makes my mouth drool just simply thinking of it... Its quite overpriced though.
So if you're looking for great food, without any ambience of sorts, then this is the place you should choose.
Chettinad chicken aka Kozhi Melagu turned out to be really great, especially with those Malabar Parothas we ordered.
The service was prompt and friendly. Spent a nice afternoon here just enjoying good old plain good food!
A great place to be at, authentic ambience and perfectly crafted Kerala atmosphere. The hospitality is great as well as their food. Although their menu is too pricey and uneconomical. Overall great experience.
Definitely the best place to have authentic tasty and hygienic food in Bangalore. I have been going to this place since ages now! It's the same over the years.
I love the hospitality of people & the food.
My favouritye there are:
1) Kadala Curry
2) Appams
3) More Kuzumbu
4) Aviyal
5) Chaas
All these 5 items in the menu are a must try!
A 6 star rating for this place.
I really wish I had better pictures! It was so dark that I couldn't manage pics that did justice to the food or the place.
I really love the serene vibe of this place. The service is warm and exemplary.
The food is really something! I have been eating here for the past 6 years now , and there has been no change in the taste.
I always start with the Tender Coconut Water served with Honey and Mint Leaves. It is refreshing and delicious!
The Layered Parota and Lacy Appams are another must haves. The curry's with it vary.
We had Fish for a starter and it had us licking our fingers!
The waitstaff always give the best suggestions and we go with those.
This place serves Alcohol too.
Authentic in look wise. The moment you enter the place you will love the ambience and the music. Service is fresh and quick. I loved the Mutton fry a lot. It is a must try. The Prawns curry is good too. I will surely recommend this place and can get back anytime for some good Kerala cuisine. 😍❤️
Awesome place for perfect Kerala food and the taste is very nice their service is good on the whole it's a really good place one should visit especially people who love Kerala foods!
Good authentic Kerala food. Their selection of fish and seafood is good though sometimes availability can be an issue. Food is well prepared and will definitely take you back to your grand mom’s cooking (only if you are mallu food growing up). Service is good and prompt with the servers all very knowledgeable about what’s on offer which helps when ordering. Restaurant is very well setup and the ambience is very calming and relaxing.
A family lunch brought me here in a Sunday. The place is very well set up. They have outdoor as well as indoor seating in a very rustic color scheme. The service was brilliant, our waiter did a very good job and this restaurant has their very own parking!
For food we ordered some fried silver fish, fried pork, appam and mutton curry, chicken biryani, buttermilk and some mugs of beer. I was very impressed with the starters. The pork was cooked to perfection! Not so much with the biryani though. It looked like coconut rice tossed with some chicken kebabs. I even asked someone there why it doesn't look the other biryani pictures on coconut Grove's Zomato page and they just told me they're not on Zomato and this how they make biryani.
But apart from the biryani my family and I had a great time there. Thank you :)
You can say that will get authentic kerala style food ...
Specially idiyappam and kadle curry .. 😋
Good ambiance and nice place to visit .. along with booze ..
Only thing which was not upto the mark was egg pakoda.. it was more like a egg bhajji .. could have given some onions and mint chutney which will make the dish better rather than giving the dry bhajji.
The appam dose was bit of sweet side or else it was soft at centre and crispy ends just like it should be.
The parota was nicely layered and crispy.
5 stars for kadle curry
Well if you are looking to eat some regualr Kerala food at a slightly soficiated place then this is the place and also if you are willing to spend a lot money. The food is really really pricey what u can get for about 200 in a regular Kerala restaurant the same thing served her is at a 500 or 600
Its really expensive
Food I would give a 4/5
Ambience I would give 3/5
Service I would give 4/5
Coconut Grove is quiet and serves alcohol. What more can one ask for?
I've always gone there to drink - finger food is good.
The alcohol is affordable and you can go in and sit with a couple of friends or with a group.
Had visited this place on busy church street on a weekend along with office colleagues for dinner. Was recommended by many of them to taste some authentic Kerala cuisine.
So we reached this place located on level one of a building. Its actually an open aired restaurant ornately decorated with bamboo shoots at entrance and coconut trees inside. In bangalore type weather its a great place to enjoy a meal.
We had a variety of dishes from there exhaustive menu that evening. Each one a combination of different flavours and rich spices of malabar coast
For starters along with beer and some spirits we had,
#GreenPeasPepper fry
#Peanut Masala
#Prawn Fry
#Chicken Kabab
#MalabarErachiKariMutton. This curry along with fluffy Appams was full of flavours and spices.Delicate pieces of lamb made it more tantalizing .
#UlliTheeyal Button onions cooked in tamarind extract. This was a first time eat for us, but the best of the evening.Fingerlicking along with crispy Appams and Idiyappam.
The staff was quite hospitable and facilitated all our requirements. A great evening in a place with authentic malabar cuisine.Must visit for great meals along with family and friends.
Two weeks back I visited Coconut Grove after a gap of 6 months or so. One of the most authentic Kerala restraunts in Bangalore, it's a must try for any food lover. The place is not pocket friendly but the taste never disappoints. This time food was great as usual. We ordered 2 Vegetarian Meals, Steamed Rice, Fish Curry and Chicken Mushroom Fry. The Chicken Mushroom Fry was outstanding. If not for the price, I might have visited the place more often.
Went on weekend. Seated easily.
Service prompt.
Drinks tried two cocktails.. one was their version of LIT.. both were nice n good.
Order egg pakora in starter.. was not that great oil has a peculiar smell.
Appam n iddiapm with stew were awsm.
Look forward to coming again.
Had been to the place at downstairs where they serve snacks. Took a cheese omlet burger, It was well made. Staff who took order and served was very polite.
Calm and soothing place. The ambience is great. They have great dishes and the food tastes good! Authentic Kerala stuff.
A little over priced I feel.
Went here for a Sunday lunch after 12 years. The traditional ambience has been maintained as in the past. Quite place with a couple of foreigners dining too.
We took egg pakoras for starter and it was just as expected - normal. The Kozhu Megalu was richly cooked. The chicken pieces were evenly diced and the pretty tasty. Combining this with appams, chapatis and white rice was a sumptuous meal.
Service was professional no doubt.
Quite a peaceful place amidst bustling Churt Street, brings in Kerala flavors. Good for a hangout bt a lil pricy. Must try is smashed tapioca with any spice non-veg gravies. YUMMM
what an amazing place. such laid back ambience in the middle of church street! you actually start to feel you’re in the backwaters! the food was orgasmic to my taste buds. especially their prawn fry!! to die for!
We have had delicious Kerala food every time we went there. The Appams, avial, kadale curry, neer more, coconut rice & all other items ordered were perfect. Reminded us of our visit to Munnar sometime back. One of my favorite places to go to.. the ambience at this place is green & quite relaxing too.
A very traditional ambiance. The set up, music, cutlery all compliment each other in a very peaceful way.
A very photogenic place.
A homely atmosphere and very good place to have a family get together.
I felt the food was overpriced but the quality is good.
A recommended place to visit.
Typical Malabari Food - Great Ambiance and Service
Pricey - but a visit worth the bucks and taste, Biryani Kerala style a must try.
The cool and breezy Ambiance is a definite plus
After a long gap I visited coconut grove. It was pretty crowded. The quality of food was good but for that price quantity was bit less I felt. We had appam /kerala paratha with nadan chicken curry and erachi ullathiyathu. Food taste was not compromised at all. And they do have basement parking which is a plus point on church Street.
This place was really good if you’re in search of some typical Kerala style cuisine.. We enjoyed all the starters we ordered.. Appam and Idiyappam was on top of the list with vegetable stew and onion curry.
I recently visited this place and I was pleasantly surprised by the ambience the place has cause you can't see how beautiful it is from the outside. It has this nice beach shack like feel that is hard to explain.
Anyway, moving on - they have quite a decent spread, the food is really good although the quantity is a little less than you'd expect.
I tried appam with chicken stew - the stew was really tasty and appam soft and nice.
The Good:
Ambience
Taste
Service
The Bad:
Price
I will definitely visit this place again.
We were been there on a Saturday Noon... Quiet good place... Nice gesture by the waiters but served food a bit late... Not that expensive for main course food... Though the alcoholic breweries are bit expensive, you have got a good place to spend some time with your people...
This is located on church street. This is a typical Kerala restaurant. The ambiance looks good. You will get the feel of greenery. The food is too good. Appam is very famous and it’s pretty descent. Idiyappam is tasty and the Malabar paratha is good. Overall, it’s a very good restaurant. I would rate this as 4 upon 5.
For teleporting yourself from church street to the land of Gods , Kerala , this is the place .
With its subtle taste of the thaen elaneer ( honey and tender coconut water ) and the soft idiyappams and appams together with the flavourful stew and kadala curry makes one complete meal .
it's was so awesome to be there in that my frndz recommended the place is was so pleasant full and pease to spent the time with gud food and nice ambience to nice music and the service was grt
keep up the Gud job .....☺☺☺☺📈📈
One place that will truly remain close to my heart.. was introduced to this place by my Dutch colleagues and I'll always remain indebted to them for taking me there.
Love the ambience and in the few months I stayed in Bangalore I ended up going to this place a couple of times.
If you are someome who enjoys kerala food don't miss this place. I have had the same dishes in a few restaurants in Ahmedabad but nothing beats this place.
Soothing decor, soulful music and lip smacking food. I have tried their appams, Malabar poratta, avail, ulli theeyal, vegetable kurma, vegetable stew and I still salivate thinking of the food 4 years later!!
I remember my colleagues relishing nadan chemeen curry, kozhi items. They loved it though my mum did not have the same experience. She thought the ulli theeyal was okay. While she relished the fish Molly. Do visit this place if you ever get a chance.
One of the best places for Appams and stew in Bangalore. I would recommend the crab and the onion ulithiyal as these are two of their most brilliant dishes. In terms of decor and ambience these guys are okay but if you are looking for a wholesome food experience especially if the Appam and related variety this is the place to go to.
Cheers,
Flavours that tickle your taste buds long after you've reached home is how I shall always remember Coconut Grove.
I was introduced to the restaurant while in Chennai in 1990 and memories of the food stayed long after I moved to Bangalore...
The restaurant on Churchstreet is a place I always look fwd to visiting.. no matter what the occasion.
Their food hasn't lost it flavour or the place its charm and I must say many of my friends have become regulars there now.
My favourites are Kari Melagu, Panni Varuthathu for starters. Kozhi Nadam Kari, Paya Curry, Chicken Stew, Ulli Theeyal with Muttai Appams, Idiyappam and Malabar Parotta for main course.... and for Dessert.. my all time favorite is Kaidachakka Halwa with Ice Cream or Semiya Payasam. That's for a party of 4, in case you were wondering.. 😊
Swing by the place and taste it for yourself. 👍👍👍👍
P.S. the food is true blue spicy..
Many Onams were spent here .The only restaurant I Bangalore that we knew for ages for top quality Kerala cuisine .
The ambience and service was Impeccable .
They had a beer cafe just outside That's gone through lot of name changes. There were some epic catch-up that i have had with my friends Damayanti That ia have had here .
Its time to visit again as church street almost seems ready for human Habitation after a few months of road repairs and us going through all that dust to eat good at aces we love here .
@meghnabose
Dropped by for lunch today. Lovely ambience in the middle of busy church street. We ordered veg thaalis, pandy curry (worth it) and some fish curry (was so fiery that we had to ask for it to be tempered down a bit!). The appams were soft and went well with both the pandy curry as well as the fish. I thought that the non-veg dishes were overpriced for Bangalore standards (starting at 400+) for a really small portion. Not sure if I would go back there again. Many other places in Bangalore with similar food at better prices. Also, I hate places where the server gives big broad hints about a tip...
This place only gives you smiles on your face from the ambience, decor, the courteous staff and of course the food! Absolutely loved everything that we ordered for and were left salivating till the last bite. The list is as follows:
1. Meen Papas - the king fish cooked in a tangy coconut gravy. It’s mildly spiced and has the right amount of thickness to go with rice or a Malabar parotta. It was a good choice. Highly recommended.
2. Vegetable stew - Another winner. The stew was perfectly cooked and went very well with the appams.
3. Appams - the best thing is that they serve it just off the stove while it’s hot and fresh and not together as usual. So even if you order 4 you will have to wait for your turn to get one on your plate. Just the perfect softness and mild sweetness of the batter makes this one irresistible.
4. Malabar Porotta- I have eaten this at other places and felt very full and unhealthy because of the refined flour and oil. However this one was nothing like what I have sampled earlier. Very light, fluffy and yumm.
5. Brown / boiled rice - I am a sucker for this. And it’s absolutely healthy.
6. Ada pradaman- yummy payasam made from beaten rice flakes in coconut milk and jaggery. Perfect way to finish your meal.
I would love to come back to this place anyday. Worth every penny.
Well loved this place first of all for its ambience, music soothing to ear running in background.
Coming to food, ordered Thein Elaneer "coconut water with a hint of Mint and honey" which do refresh you, when you just come out from work.
Executive thali consisting of Red Rice 😋 Sambhar, Rasam, Curd, Payasam, 3 more vegetable item(sorry I don't remember name) was ideal in taste and papadam 😋. Not much of spices and prepared beautifully. We also ordered Mushroom Pepper Fry which was like softest mushroom pepper fry I have ever eaten. It was real good.
Dessert we ordered Grasshopper a blend of Pista and Vanila icecream with sauce pista and bit of nuts. I won't say it was wow but worth trying 😜
If you really want to know how well egg appams, fish curry and Carnatic music go with the company of loved ones, you must visit this place!!
Absolutely adore this place! They serve on the banana leaf! Nice Kerala food, pretty pricey though. Service is good! I loved their semige with chicken curry (don't remember the exact dish names) i wouldn't think twice before going here to eat the semige again!
The ambience is really good and the food was very authentic Kerala food and also very tasty. The fish was fresh and rasty as well.Only concern is the rate is bit high.
Good ambience in a bustling neighbourhood. Quality food served, with a slightly higher price tag. Service is efficient, but I guess the food portion size could get a facelift. Keep up the malabar good food experience....
Coconut Grove is one of my favorite places for Kerala food. Once you step into the restaurant you feel you are out of Bangalore.
Ambiance: Very natural and refreshing. Lots of plants around.
Service: Very courteous and efficient.
Food: We ordered
Veg thali: Excellent. Really enjoyed the beetroot poriyal
Non- veg thali: Very nice. Loved the fish fry.
Chicken curry: Pretty standard
Well they serve beer too.
Food: best place for Kerala food
Special dishes... Chemmeen curry and karimeen pollichadu.
Ambience: outdoor.. it's beautiful especially the way they have placed a tree between each table
You'll love this place.. do try it...
Easily the best Kerala cuisine in the city. It may be a bit pricey, but the food is out of this world. Courteous staff, well trained and attentive too. Well worth the money you pay.
Thanks for providing a eco-friendly ambience. This restaurant is covered with lot of plants which gives natural air-conditioning in the most busy and crowded area like m.g road. We had non veg thali, the taste was good but not worth for the price we pay. The chicken piece (only 1 piece) was too small that you should look through a microscope (exaggerated bcoz we paid 300 + 14.5% (VAT) for the meals). Fish fry was pretty decent size. Service was execeptionally good and there wasn't much delay in serving.
Food - 4/5
Value for money - 2.5/5
Ambience - 4/5
Service - 3.5/5

I've been here a few times. I must say that the place is simply brilliant, composed of a warm and welcoming ambience suitable for families, friends circles and dates alike. I've been introduced to food which can be labelled nothing short of excellent and authentic, and would in all certainty leave you obese because you'd just not know when to stop. They've definitely succeeded in maintaining a delicate balance between a posh city restaurant in the heart of Bengaluru, and the rustic feel of a traditional Malayali cuisine with all the cutlery and the waiting style/attire. The members of the staff are very cordial, prompt and efficient. The fried pomfret is to die for. The chicken gravy is a plate straight out of heaven for all you meat lovers out there. All this with some light beer to wash it down would complete a pleasant and lovely evening. It'll definitely leave you craving for more and it's one of those places that one would want to label his/her "regular", or "adda". I'd strongly recommend CocoGroove to all the foodies out there. I'll be back soon. Cheers!! :)
Place to be for South Indian non veg food . Good ambience. Pork and mutton dishes are good. Food is on the spicy side and not meant for weak hearted !
Nice place to hangout, accessible from MG road, I liked the ambience. Palak pakoda and drought beer is the best. And the kerela meal. But other menu items are bit costly.
Went for a Team dinner here . liked the outdoor seating arrangement quite spacious and airy. I don`t think there is any indoor seating arrangement or Air conditioned available. Ordered Masala Papad, KARI MELAGU(Mutton), APPAM,KERALA PARATHA, BUTTERMILK and LASSI.
Masala Papad was good but I think Rs 100 for a single papad is too costly and also the same goes for the Kerala paratha. Mutton was too good, very spicey like the way I like. Appam was good , 2 for 80 bucks. I didnt liked the lassi because they gave a salt lassi without even asking us whether it has to be salt or sweet and second point is it was not cold and the curd was nto fo good quality. Buttermilk was good
Good for dinner but bit pircey.
Coconut Grove is a nice place and well maintained for Church street standards. The service personnel were all polite and nice. The atmosphere and ambience is very soothing and positive in nature. Am rating it 4 stars only because the chicken we ordered let us down but the prawns were hands down one of the best have had till date. This place is expensive like 600rs for a plate of chicken and same for prawns but it is worth it. Believe me if you want to take your family and have a good budget but still want to visit a really nice well maintained restaurant then this place is it. Would suggest celebrating family or team occasions here. Oh almost forgot they have copper tumblers for drinking water and it tastes amazing.
Good place for Kerala cuisine. Good location. I've visited this place after nearly 4 years. It's still the same. Quite authentic.

Good and decent place, to chill around for a good brunch and cool beer. The place serve good authentic kerala cuisine. The food was very good and value for money . The staff was kind and friendly and service was quick. Sure will visit one more time and also recommend others .
The café had a compact ambience and the food was average in taste, however, the portions were on the smaller side.
Overall, the café's atmosphere was cozy and intimate, making it a great spot for a casual lunch or coffee with a friend. However, the food, while decent in flavor, was lacking in quantity. I found myself still feeling a bit hungry after finishing my meal. Additionally, the prices were on the good side for the small portions offered. While the atmosphere was nice, I likely wouldn't return for the food alone.
In terms of the menu, they offered a good variety of options. However, most of the dishes were on the plain side and didn't have any unique or standout flavors. The service was also a bit slow and not very attentive.
All in all, the café's compact ambience is its main selling point, but the average food taste and small portions, make it difficult to justify a return visit. It would be a good spot for a quick coffee and catch up with a friend.
Great ambience! It's a good place to have a beer and good food together. Avoid eating north indian here if coming from north india.
Decent options for vegetarians, but still a great kerala spread.
Have been going there over the years for Appam and Idiyappam. Goes well with Vegetable Stew and Ullitheeyil! Other veg curries are decent too....
Also try tender coconut with honey and mint...
Ambience is good, but mosquitos were a big turn off...
Decent place to have food. Authentic Kerala dishes were really good, but taste of other items can be better. The Malabar parota and mixed veg curry was really yum.
Spacious, but the ambience was little dull. Service could be faster but smiling and friendly staff.
Absolutely Amazing.. The Best Restaurent for Kerala Food. The Best Service.. Ambiance can be better.. But Yes, Overall a Wonderful Place. Loved it.
In church street.. one cannot miss it.
Up the steps to an open ambience and greenery ..
Seating was also well spaced out..
The staff were pleasant and helpful ..
The food was scrumptious and hot..
The menu had a lot of varieties or one can ask the steward to help you out if one is in doubt ..
The washroom was neat and clean.. ( but if you could just be on alook for the tissue roll )
Parking on brigade road ..or on the side lanes.
Ohh yes.. authentic Kerala cuisine.. is what one has to keep in mind.
If you're looking for Arabian food in Bangalore.
this is what you are looking for 😄😄
Try Chicken or Mutton Mandi.
They have made the place as close to authentic coastal restaurant as possible.
The food is good and the sea food items are fresh. Take note there is not much of a place for parking. 2 wheel or 4.
Smoking zone is seperate ,
There is variety of menu ,
Alcohol is served here ,
Ample seating capacity ,
Price range of dishes is on the expensive side.
Overall a good experience.
