Nagarjuna Chimney is one of the multiple 'Nagarjuna' brand restaurants across Bangalore. It is most popular for their signature Andhra Meal and delicious Biryani.
The Andhra Meal is served just in the same way for many years now and is one of the most exhaustive spreads among Andhra Meals. Meal is served on the banana leaf which feels very hygienic. The Andra Daal (pappu) is the main attraction of the meal and next is their tangy chutney!! Payasam served in the meal is very delicious to end the meal with. Hot rice served with pure ghee and podi chuenty is an experience in itself. For all those with a sweet tooth, don't forget to ask for sugar at the end of the meal to be mixed with fresh curd!!
The cost is on a very affordable side and service is quick. Strongly recommended for Andhra Meal and Biryani.

I am yet to come across a restaurant that beats Nagarjuna in Bangalore for Andhra food!
Never a disappointment and ensures I always over eat and eat like I've never eaten before.

My go to place in Bengaluru. With around 6 branches in Bengaluru, you are never too far from Nagarjuna. This place is big on serving a huge variety of authentic south indian dishes.

Except Biriyani I'm no big fan of rice items, but this one is an exception, 'Nagarjuna Restaurant'. Probably Andhra Thali is the only thali I love and have eaten that in Nandhana, Nandhini, Bheema, Royal Andhra Spice in Bangalore, RRR & Sridevi in Mysore and few other places in Thirupathi and Hyderabad, I like each of them for different reasons, Royal Andhra for Gun powder, RRR for chutney & kheer to name a few. And there is a reason to like Nagarjuna restaurant too! Though they don't offer much items like RRR or even like Nandhana Palace, still I love this place because of their ತೊಂಡೆಕಾಯಿ ಪಲ್ಯ (sauteed fried ivygourd) which is just amazing. 😋 Ivygourd is deep fried then sauteed along with fried peanuts, though little oily this palya will definitely is a treat for the tongue.
I asked the steward when they will make that palya again which he didn't answer! But I got impressed with the taste so much which made me visit this place often marking the day which made me realize after few visits & research I found out that it's made for Thursday lunch and Saturday dinner 😀 As I mentioned earlier in no good rice eater, so I'll have 1 or 2 servings of rice by the time I would have had atleast 7-8 servings of Thondekaayi Palya! 😬
Ambiance is good, tables could have been little wider though. Service not an issue, pricing could have been less. Except their palya, Pappu too scores well, rest other items are average. So if you are fan of Thondekaayi (Ivygourd) then please do visit, even otherwise visit to start loving Thondekaayi!!

I only come here for their south Indian meals which costs around 200 , totally worth every rupee . absolutely love this with unlimited rice and their sambar , puttu and curd .

The best place to have Andhra style food anywhere! The mutton biriyani is to die for, not that the chicken biriyani is bad. The dal in the south indian is so amazing, I always ask the other people I eat with to order it so that I can taste it. Chilly chicken is spicy and tastes heavenly. Must visit for authentic Andhra food!
This place is quite well known for Andhra cuisine and was recommended by a local friend. Most people seemed to be having the thali which unfortunately is available only in veg. So we went for one of that, a chicken biryani and a pepper chicken starter.
The thali was simple and delicious with sambar, rasam, dal, vegetables and payasam. The pepper chicken was peppery as the name goes and made for a good starter. What i loved the most though was the Biryani which had perfectly cooked pieces of chicken and packed in a lot of flavour. It was mildly spiced and very delicious.
All this and 2 lemon soda came to around 900 bucks. Do visit for the tasty biryani !

Very nice people. I am visiting for last 20 years. All the managers leading these outlets are great. Mr Chandra Reddy the current manager is great person very humble and supportive. So many staff members who I have grown here with promotions ...all with customer friendly nature and quite different from the attitude we notice in Indiranagar outlet. Food quality not comparable with others. Don't miss veg meal rasam is consistently same tasty. Chutney is unique. Biryani we like for change. Need a bit less oily but no complaints. Cheers to Nagarjuna team. Happy to visit here multiple weekends as doing since last so many years. One outlet is needed near Kathriguppe 😊

I love the Andhra cuisine here. Starting from pappu saar, steamed hot rice, side veggies, Andhra pickles, sambar, rasam, I mean the list goes on. Love to binge a good heavy lunch during afternoons. Love the ghee on top of rice when mixed with sambar tastes heaven.

Right brain: simple servings on plantin leaf
A last resort or a lone choice for all Andhra food lovers especially in south bangalore. Taste is exceptional ambience is good but the only parameter for not being a 5 is because of the lazy staff who refuse to understand the urgency of every customer and respond accordingly

There are two sections to this review.
The vegetarian one and the non vegetarian one.
Let's start with the vegetarian one.
The awesome dawsome thali.
Let me tell you how to eat it.
First, add a lot of ghee to your rice and mix it with the chutney pudi or gun powder.
Next, a lot of ghee and their daal and papad. Oh my god, so tasty right? Go for another serving of the same and then another.
Thirdly, eat some time with the sambhar and vegetable pallya or you can skip this part. Next rasam rice mixed with pickle. Juicy and nice.
Next, curd rice and the fried chilli. Break the fried chilli into small small pieces and mix it with your curd rice.
Lastly, if there is any space for the payasam, eat it
So, by the end of this meal, you'll regret your tight jeans and would wish to go back home, get into your loose clothes and sleep.
Non vegetarian section :
Biryani and chill chicken has been my go to combination for the last several years. It is one of the best combinations. Other starters like pepper mutton, fish fry, sholay kabab and an interesting pepper prawns.
Overall, I love the food that this place serves in all it's outlets. Even though it's crowded, every bit of waiting is worth it.
Oh, one more thing, try and avoid the lonely corner seats, you'll have to keep waiting for your ghee, rice and everything else.
The mutton biryani is a must try it just melts in your mouth.

Best place for Andhra meals. Food is good. Biryani is ok, not good as Meghana's. Ambience is pretty old and need renovation and maintenance. If your only concerned about enjoying Andhra meals visit here.
Have pretty much been to all Nagarjuna outlets in Bangalore, but the Jayanagar branch was my first stepping into Nagarjuna’s a decade ago. Over the years, the taste has remained same and if looking for a sumptuous Andhra lunch, this is the place to go to. Typical suggestion to try here would be the usual meals in conjunction with some non veg starter. Nagarjuna chicken roast or mutton fry is highly recommended which combines well with the lump of rice one would eat. The dal is so tasty that you’d forget the amount of rice one would consume. If you’re looking for outside of meals, chicken biryani would be another of my favorite that i recommend. A lime soda to wrap it up would be the ultimate recommendation. The dishes are not extreme my prices either when compared to the recent biryani/meals outlets.

We tried natu kodi fry, fish fry and chicken biryani. Each bite of natu kodi fry was so flavourful.. Fish fry was just perfectly fried and meat was flaky and nice. Chicken Biryani was with lesser spices but right aroma of rice and garam masala and softness of chicken made it taste superb.
Well I usually go eat the veg Meals in 6gis restaurant but last week when I made a visit here the food was good so I have given a 4 star rating but the service was the best very humble staff and mainly the person who served me Mr. Kishore was even more humble and made sure every thing was fine in my table a + 5 star rating to him specifically....
This is a family restaurant with ample space to house any number if guests. Staff is humble but service time can be improved.
As expected the food was really nice however beverages and desserts can be increased.
Nagarjuna Chimney... name is very reknown and popular. As iam a vegetarian and love andra style food, we land up here for a king size full meal. As usual I relished my veg meal with my favourite gun powder ghee, chinthakaya thokku with rice. No complaints on the served vegetable subzi, rasam, sambar, papad, curd and buttermilk too. Sharing pics of the delicacy that I relished.
On the other hand my friends tried chicken biryani and mutton biryani along chicken fry. They were very disappointed as both biryani were bland and the chicken fry had no salt. When questioned the manager... he said every single was prepared centrally at their mg road branch and then supplied across 17 outlets.... so friends were further disappointed that their food wasn't prepared frezh.
Anyways.... this was a feedback from my friends...... my experience was good !

Best chicken curry I had in my life. With tasty meals. It had variety of sides. But it missed the traditional Andhra type fry in meals.They replqced it with some potato curry which tastes good. But I came in looking for fry. Meals are tasty but not worth 220 as they quoted. A 220 meals consists of poori or chapati . Minevera grand type hotels is the one which serves like that. 150 wd have been appropriate acc to the quality and quantity of meals . But on the other hand non veg is the one which is famous here.
Always wanted to review this iconic place, so had to visit to pen it right. The first thing that strikes your attention is everybody is enjoying their meals and eating a lot. Vegetarian and Non vegetarian meals are fantastic and they are served on the banana leaf with ghee served at regular intervals. Food is not spicy and is just perfect. Realised I was hogging the food like not eaten for a week. Overall I was very satisfied with food, taste and cost. The ambience is old and cramped. You may need to be lucky with the parking.
When it comes to Andhra meals this is one place to go to. For me had the service been prompt when there are less crowd the rate would have been 5 star.

This place is overcrowded. Though, the food is worth the wait. The food is really good and is just cooked to perfection. The keema balls very very bad but the other food like the Guntur chicken and the biryani were flawless.

Having a team outing and couldn't find a better place than Nagarjuna Chimney in Jayanagar :) We were served some excellent veg meals and non veg items such as Kababs, Briyani and ended the great meal with some cold drinks. Great food. Excellent taste :)

Spicy Andhra meals calling..it has to be Nagarjuna. This branch has a small seating area in the ground floor and a bigger space on the first floor. Generally crowded but you do get a table within 10 minutes. The staff are very friendly and generous in serving food. Being a vegetarian we dont have much of an option other than a meal.
The meal is served on a banana leaf. First they serve you a raita, a dry vegetable palya we had got cabbage palya. Then the most favorite pappu made using lentils and greens. Unlimited serving of rice topped with ghee, papad, payasam, sambar, rasam, curd and buttermilk given in small cups. On the table you have this tray with a few jars containing pickle chutney and this powder called paruppu podi. This with rice and ghee is a major comfort food and I can have it at any given time.
Mind you the food is pretty spicy and you'd end up drinking a lot of water, which leaves you so full that you'd need a good nap. Lots of options for non vegetarians, they have biriyanis, chicken and mutton starters, non veg meals. The prices are very affordable, a veg meal for 2 with mineral water bottles came up to less than Rs.500
This place is like my home away from home . When it comes to Biryani- this names pops in head. This is the 3rd place my Love story gets stronger here every weekend & few weekdays . The Andra cuisine is exquisite . Must order- chicken/mutton biryani, chilly chicken boneless, nati kodi fry, mushroom pepper dry, prawns chilly , chicken sholey kebabs & stomach filling Veg Thali . There isn’t a dish I havnt tasted 😍 A must visit 👍🏻

Veg meals from Nagarjuna Chimney is must try. Gun powder with ghee was just fantastic. Shout out for their dhal and ghee. Yes we had a lot of ghee. They serve unlimited hot rice, dhal and palya.
The chutney was spicy. Rasam was too good.

The chicken items are must must try. Lollipop, chicken pepper fry was too good. The menu options are too too limited but yeah what is available is good.
Ambience is clean and neat, the employees are little impatient to take orders, they keep asking pls order pls order, parking is impossible (4 wheeler), 2 wheeler if you are lucky you will get in front of opp 2 or 3 street you will get definitely. 4 wheeler ppl can park next to stadium and walk down or find one in opp Street if you lucky.

Food is exactly what you can expect from this franchise. Top tier Andhra style food. Spicy and just lip smacking.
Service is probably the worst I've ever had. The waiters talk like they own the franchise and are irritated to help the guests. Everything from papad to Finger bowl will take 8-9mins to arrive.
The best Mutton Biryani is available here. Much better than the Marathahalli center. Have been visiting this center for decades and the taste remains the same.

I been there in weekend and took veg meals. It was really good with different dishes(No chapathi/puri). You will be served with unlimited rice thou they will charge 50/- for extra small cup of curd, where i felt it would be really better if they can charge bit lesser price for a small cup of curd. Other than that Food and service was excellent.

I could not find the chutney and the poriyal/palya as punchy as I would feel in other Nagarjuna outlets.
We also had veg biriyani which was tasty.
Fried chillies that were kept were dry; gongura chutney was not available by default (we had to ask for it explicitly and then it was provided).
Road-side parking (though I guess valet parking is available).
Could not see the crowd on a holiday as opposed to other outlets.
Will definitely visit again to see the improvements.
Waiter was humble and was serving all with good attitude.

It is a very clean and well maintained restaurant supposed to be serving Andhra dishes. The staff were smart and polite specially the security guy standing at the entrance. Can't say if it was authentic Andhra dish but good served was delicious. I had mutton biryani and it was worth the price. Service was very fast and food served in banana leaves. They also have clean washrooms. Great place for dining out in big groups as families and friends.
