On every sunday, I used to visit TFC for dosa or paddu. Their chutneys are amazing but I do not like their sambhar much. Their staff is also very humble and quick service even though this place is always crowded. Try any dosa from their menu, you will be loving it. In evenings, I love to have paddu with filter coffee, amazing combo. Also, try their nimbu paani along with dosa, you will like it.

I’ve been wondering all of last week, why on earth I hadn’t already discovered TFC. This place will give most long standing establishments a tough run for their money. I’ve eaten their dosa, Idli, Pongal, vada, kesari bath, and Upma. Not one of them disappointed, and they not only serve homely, fresh, and authentic chutney and sambhar, they also serve generous portion sizes that isn’t watered down. Highly recommended for a great Sunday morning breakfast, or some great breakfast on every other day really.

I've been to this restaurant couple of times in the past few months. This has become one of my go-to places when I want to have dosa or coffee. Their sitting area is just awesome especially their bar like counter seatings. Servers are good and the owner herself is very prompt in taking your seating request on weekends. This is such a good to have restaurant in my locality. Just love it!

Filtered and chosen for simple yet delicious tamil style cuisine: filter coffee.

The word filter coffee is an emotion for every Bangalorean. This place certainly nailed it 💯 in the taste of the filter coffee that is available here.

Simple open table setting. That gives you a feel of come old restaurant in tamil nadu style.
The dishes that are available here are mostly south Indian. And is served on Banana leaf so we eat without guilt of adding non biodegradable waste.
summers in here gets too hot.
The place gets alomst full around peak hours.
The dishes that are served has the taste of food cooked in tamil households.
Do not miss masala dosa specially the white chutney and tomato chutney given here is really tasty. And always consistent in taste and thickness.
And kanchipuram idly is yummy.
Do try paddu, idiyappam only if available.
Never miss a filter coffee here.

Steaming hot soft Idlis, 2 chutneys, thick vegetable sambhar (not the sweet variety), crunchy vada, unlimited chutneys and Sambhar all served on a plantain leaf...

This is what we ended up enjoying this morning at "The Filter Coffee" (TFC).

Quite a large place, yet about 30 mins wait for our seats. Luckily it was well organized queue system where you give your name at the door and are called when seats open up.

Huge open kitchens inspire confidence, and the food more than lived up to the hype (and the wait). The rava dosa we got was also superb, perfectly cooked crunchy jaali structure which soaked up the chutneys with ease. The chow chow bhaath was also good, and the folks next to us polished off multiple helpings of the Pongal with joy.

This place serves up your thindi with pride and joy, and it shows up in the food!

CoE: First visit, paid for our food, place open for a while.

Ps: thanks to Shesh for the recco!

Finally got a chance to go to this place with my gang for a Sunday brunch. We reached here by 10:30 AM and had to wait around 30 minutes to get a table for 6.

As soon as you settle on the table the staff will set a banana leaf and arrange chutneys on the leaf. They will serve sambar in cups made of leaf (vistaraku). The pre setup is awesome. We started with Idli and vada, then had Pongal followed by the house's special Ghee Podi Dosa and Onion uthappam. Everything was awesome except for Ghee Podi dosa was dripping with ghee.

The ambience was apt and the way they organized the crowd was commendable. I liked the way they used mist to cool the temperature inside the restaurant instead of AC. Few complaints are long wait time for few items and leaking pipes because of the mist.

Overall this is one of the great breakfast places to visit in Bangalore

The island Dosa bar is an Interesting concept. You can watch the chefs make your bajjis from scratch. Excellent hygiene, the managers are OCD wrt cleanliness 😁.

Eco friendly serve ware - banana leaf + donne is such a plus.

The staff are so attentive, you’ll have your chutney refill even before you look up.
The food is really good, easy on the stomach and a winner on the palate. Almost Authentic tamilnadu dishes, much much better than sendoor, and quite close to Krishna cafe.

Drumstick sambhar, Thanjavur idli, Pongal, sevai and fluffy idlis & the sukkumalli coffee are a must try!

Note to Management : PLEASE RE INTRODUCE THE VEGAN FILTER COFFEE !!

For all the friends from Tamil Nadu who say “Bangalore le sambar sweetaa irukku...” your woes have been heard! This is a cozy Tamil Nadu tiffin centre in Banaswadi. Can get busy in the morning but stay on if the waiting time is under 10mins, it’s worth it.

I’m a fan of Pongal and would never have Pongal in Bangalore for it’s made like dal rice. But this place that claims to have roots in “Thanjavur” made it just how I like it. The Vada was killer! Super crisp, well cooked and light! All the stars seemed aligned to make it perfect. Ofcourse you can thulp down 2-3 when it’s made that we’ll.

The podi dosa was crisp and fabulously tasty.

The only thing I’d say needs work is the coffee. Bangalore has seen Better!

Probably one of the best places in the area to get your filter coffee and dosa fix! I like to go for breakfast. The place is buzzing with hungry patrons waiting for a seat but it's worth the wait.
I love their masala dosas, ghee roast dosas, Puri sagu and the vadas... Sooo soft inside yet crispy on the outside. One of the places where I wish my tummy was bigger! I love the coffee so much I usually end up having 2 cups. Ambience is basic but still more attractive compared to the typical Sagar type restaurants. The service is quick and friendly with a smile. Definitely worth a visit! Reasonable prices and fun for the while family.

Stopped her for a quick bite..Ambiance is pretty decent, liked their open kitchen concept where once actually see their food being prepared.

Ordered for the ghee podi masala dosa which was an overload of ghee and podi like a slam on the face but it did taste good, then the standard idly vada nothing can go rong with that. Liked their chutney's, sambar is the typical tamil nadu style, but i would rather prefer the chutney.  Coffee was nice and strong. Service was quick. Not bad for the first time.

On a recent visit to Bangalore had the opportunity to visit this restaurant for breakfast. My first thoughts ....it was packed and we had to wait almost 10 mins. That means something good here. And we weren't disappointed. We ordered chow chow bath, masala dosa, idli, medu wada and several rounds of the fabled filter coffee.
Fabulous! And the coffee was a perfect kickstarter for the day.
Highly reccomend this place. And will definitely visit again.

Gave breakfast on banana leaf, which I always prefer..first come first serve.. Does justice to the hotel name , filter coffee Is a must try... Idlis very surprisingly good..vada is crisp and lovely..chutney are both amazing and unlimited..

Here comes the negative side..prices are at the high end and they do charge service fees as well...

This is one of the best South Indian Restaurant to have perfect breakfast.

We have visited this place last week.

The ambience is very good. The good thing is that they serve the food in banana leaf.

There are many varieties of dosa & idli items in their menu. Especially Tamilandu style dosas are must try.

We have tried

Mini idli --> These are very soft, small and fluffy.

Podi masala dosa --> This is very famous here, and the taste of podi was good.

Masala Uthappam --> The Uthappam is very much thick and tasty, I liked this very much.

Filter Coffee --> Obviously this is the best coffee. I can say this is the traditional Indian filter with finely grounded coffee powder.

Served with red, white chutney & sambar.
Must recommended are- Idli, coffee.

Good customer service.
One can visit this place to have authentic south Indian breakfast.

What an amazing place to have traditional South Indian breakfast. The food was so so fresh and the chutneys and sambhar were so flavourful. Although you might find a little waiting on sundays but it’s worth the wait. Not to forget that the lady managing the entrance desk and customers was very very kind and did a great job. One of the finest places serving typical South Indian breakfast. Idli is amazing...super soft and fluffy. Vada is crisp and tasty. We also tried the ghee podi dosa which was perfectly crisp and roasted just enough. I would eat breakfast here everyday 😋 The chutneys they serve are the best. I haven't had such good chutneys in such a long time... It's so much better than the chutneys at the darshinis in Bangalore. The winners hands down are the chutneys. It is a must visit for anyone who loves South Indian breakfast...you will not regret it. It is slightly higher price wise I feel..but not too bad.

Update - their lunch thalis are quite filling and tasty.

Roomy and spacious with a lot of farm tables and chairs for seating. For a quick service and good food, this is definitely the spot.

There is a lot of seating options, I especially loved the really long table which is placed right in front of the food bar. You can take a seat there and watch all the action happening behind the counter. An eco-friendly establishment where they serve your order on a banana leaf with unlimited access to chutney and sambar. You must try Kotthu Parota, Podi Dosa, and filter coffee.

Eating breakfast here is an experience that one should have at least once.

Coming from Hyderabad where a dearth of good breakfast options means we live out on dosas being dished out by grumpy old uncle's from dilapidated trucks, This was a breath of fresh air for me .

The restaurant was already abuzz when we reached at close to 9 am in the morning and luckily for us we got a seating area without waiting.

Now the seating area is something different here, you have a slab running across the length of the restaurant overlooking the kitchen where you can sit and the servers will serve everything straight from the kitchen. It's somewhat similar to the old days of marriage frats where you sit and people serve you on banana leafs .

Oh yes no plates used here, food is served on banana leaves.

Coming to the food, we ordered paper masala dosas with ghee, fresh and crispy vadas & steaming hot filter coffee.

The accompaniments you get here are coconut chutney, the spicy chuntey and sambar. And yes they are delicious.

The waiting time for food being served is very less when compared to the number of people at the restaurant.

The dosas arrived and we quickly gorged on some delicious food, crispy batter and amazing filling had me satisfied but seeing the fresh vadas I couldn't resist and ordered and it turned out to be really delicious too.

They have some flavors of filter coffee which is nothing but flavored sugay syrup put in , if you want to give it a try go ahead, but I would recommend the standard filter coffee.

Overall, a breakfast worth remembering for me . It had been ages since I had a complete breakfast at such a complete place.

Kudos to the team here and keep up the good work.

This is not a place just for satisfying your hunger but to experience and fall in love with the flavourful party in your mouth with each morsel.
As per a friend's suggestion instead of going for classic filter coffee, I went with Hazelnut filter coffee and boy it was amazing! It is one of the must-have here, the coffee itself is perfect on its own and the hazelnut enhances the coffee to another level with the slightly sweeter smell, nutty taste and maintaining the original coffee punch.
From the dosas ordered my personal favorite was the crispy overloaded Ghee Roast Dosa accompanied with a tangy Tomato Chutney.
The ambiance is very simple with an open kitchen. All the staff members are extremely sweet and polite, especially the owner/partner. While I was waiting to place my order and no one was around the owner noticed and inquired what I wanted to order. She was attentive towards all the customers present there.
Another best thing about this place is that the owner also eats here. You can imagine the quality of things is gonna be here.

Went for breakfast on a Sunday. Since we were 2,did not have to wait much. After listing our name, we had to place the order and make the payment while waiting in the queue for our seat. This saves a lot of time. Coming to the food, the podi masala dosa was of excellent taste and the ghee podi masala dosa had just the correct amount of ghee. Vada was average .Filter coffee was great. All the food was being served on banana leaf. There is no parking facility, we had to park on the opposite lane.

When in Bangalore, you have to visit this place. If it's the weekend, be prepared for a wait. I was dining alone, so I got seated at the community counter. That's an experience in itself if you are the kind of person who enjoys a close up view of a well oiled operation. This place is a freaking MACHINE!!!! Everything I was served was exemplary. The Ghee Onion Masala Dosa was superb, as well as the Medu vada, all served up on a Banana Leaf. Unlimited chutney and sambar, and really terrific tasting stuff. I wish I had the appetite for more, however that would push me into gluttony territory. Finally the coffee!!! What a nice way to round up the meal! This is one place that should not be missed, even if you have to battle thronging crowds to get a seat at the table.

This was on my go-to list for months. The aroma of their Filter Coffee always tempted me while I was driving from my workout place towards home. Finally, crossed it off the list - for good, I might add. The thing I liked most about this place is, they have seats by the open kitchen, for people coming alone to eat. So, people like me can eat in peace, without having to block a table otherwise meant for goodie shoes couples or without having to endure nasty looks from a waitlisted family. But, vice versa, when a family of 4 blocks the seats meant for solo customers, no one tells them to occupy the seats meant for the families. It's a strange world indeed. The food was fresh. Served on a beautifully green banana leaf. I ordered the usual dish which I eat to get myself attuned to the eatery - Idly Vada plate. Filter Coffee to conclude. Idlies were fluffy, but with just a pinch of more salt in it. Coconut Chutney was also a bit salty (for my taste maybe, because people were eating this chutney as if they were eating the main course). I liked Tomato Chutney wholeheartedly, but there's a limit as to how much you can eat it. Vada was freshly made and served, so the wait of 15 mins was worth it. Sambhar was okay. I had asked for Filter Coffee without sugar. The guy serving us brought some 4 coffees together, yet was able to hand me the correct coffee. I wonder how! All in all, good food. Satisfactory dining experience.

Good atmosphere. Good food served with a smile. However, it is self-ordered, and the benches do not have a backrest. The lady taking orders had a long face, which put us in little unrest. If you have reached there after a long day, you may not enjoy that much. We went there by recommendation of a friend, but I would say Bangalore has many restaurants with similar taste and quality.

If we want to try typical tamil nadu style food, this is the best restaurant in this area. Initially, I had little hopes before entering on cleanliness and tastewise. After entering inside and having food, everything changes . It's a prepaid restaurant where you take the token on what u want to have, then give it to people for servicing, and they will get u items . "TFC family dosa a must try " - 4ft masala dosa, can have by 4 people. I went with family on Sunday without knowing family dosa is not served. Initially, the guy refused to give a token for the family dosa. Later, he checked with chefs and then given token. The taste of this dosa is really different, I have never tasted this kind of masala in any other restaurant. Chutney and sambar are really excellent in taste. We can keep eating that without the main dish. 😀 They serve in well cleaned banana leaf, keep serving Chutney unlimited. Have a lot of options to eat. Definitely, I will go often to try each dish every time. Water is filled in a glass jug , which is crystal clear. U no need to buy water bottles like other restaurants.

Best south Indian breakfast joint in Kalyan Nagar. Right on the main road, opposite to specialist hospital The place is usually very crowded on weekends , but if you reach here byb9 am in the morning you don't need to wait in the line. All their food items in the menu are super delicious. We usually take Pongal, ghee roast dosa, Upma and coffee. Their podi powder is really good. Which you can also buy from their store nearby The sitting area is open along with the kitchen, so you get to see your food freshly made. Few attenders will continuously roam around with the chatni and Sambhar and serve you before your plate gets empty. Another good thing about plate is that they don't use plates , rather coconut leaves to serve the food and eat from. Very clean and tidy. Must visit to experience it all.
