This place in not meant for a meal, but for the experience.
I have had way better food than Grasshopper, but never the experience.
Did not get to meet the chef, but he would discuss about your likes and dislikes and prepare a meal accordingly.
I loved the idea of being surprised by the meal and getting a customised meal prepared, never had this experience before.
Each meal would be explained by the server beforehand.
We reserved the terrace, due to rain they had arranged for our table inside.(pictures attached)
The music was fantastic. You could take a break in between courses and choose to dance and or just take a walk.
The whole table is kept for you for the night, no there is no need to hurry and leave.
This place is meant for important occasions and it definitely makes the guests feel special!
PS:- I should have taken more pictures.
One of the very few gems of Bangalore. Their attention to detail of food preferences is something that has had me hooked for ages now. Would highly recommend this place to all who love good food made from quality ingredients(they grow their own produce) and with lots of love. Oh yes, and adding to their calm environs are two very friendly dogs !
This place is amazing to have an romantic evening spent with a special one. Prior booking is required as they plan a special 5/7 course dinner for you. Little high priced, but worth a visit.
Excellent spread of food! Fine dining at its best.
Warm dimly lit and incredibly calming. The tables are on the same outdoor open floor plan but yet very private. Warm candles and the scent of fresh flowers at every table is the first thing that hits you.
The wine pairing is fantastic. And every single course is delicious, some innovative like the mustard ice cream and some classics like the most tender slow cooked lamb. The salad is fresh and citrusy with walnuts cutting through the bite. Everything comes together beautifully. There is also a very chic store displaying clothes made by the owner.
Had the #grasshopperexperience (finally). It's been on my wishlist for the longest time. To say that it's a beautiful place is an understatement. It's a serene, tucked away piece of heaven! A huge property lush with greenery, with bout 5-7 tables spaced apart. A clothing boutique in the main building area.
We were led to our table. I ordered a Passion fruit spritzer. This mocktail was the perfect palate cleanser with passion fruit notes hitting with every sip.
We opted for a seven course dinner with special requests on getting Prawns, Fish and Mushroom.
We received :
Appetizer : Special cheese, cherry tomatoes and a beautiful sauce to tie it together
Appetizer #2 : Freshly toast bread topped with caramelized onions, some toasty nuts and oodles of flavor
Starter : Grilled prawns, floating in a coconut gravy bed topped with some seaweed
Salad (not pictured) : Green leafy vegetables with Walnuts, Peanuts, cheese and flavors!
Main course #1 : Mushroom gravy with couscous
Main course #2 : Sea bass filet with sous
Dessert #1 : Dark Chocolate Ganache with Mustard Ice cream
Dessert #2 : Lemongrass ice cream
Each ingredient was handled with so much love and respect. Loved the flavor of the produce and the hero ingredient of each dish was clearly a hero. Very straightforward hearty flavors. Since the cuisine is European, the flavors are muted so you taste every ingredient married with wonderful sauces. Oh, their sauces. I'd have loved to pack bottles of those.
Special mention to Ishan for making it a wonderful meal and spread. It was lovely meeting you and speaking to you! We'll definitely come back again.
Thanks for an evening worth remembering!
Went here for dinner on Friday. Quite far from the city but worth it. The place is so quiet and serene. Loved how it was so private and honestly very romantic ;)
The 5 course meal was delicious. Loved everything I had there. The quality was superb which I honestly didn’t expect so much. The lamb I had was better than any 5 star hotel I’ve been too! Overall, I really really loved it. It’s a beautiful place with food that genuinely surprised me by how good it was.
After a long search and going through multiple reviews on the location and ambience, zeroed down this for a romantic evening.
Ambience : This is really cool as only 6 regular dining and one private dining option available. Location is secluded from hustle bustle of the city. Please note this opens only during evening on weekdays and only for Sunday a lunch can be arranged. This is definitely 5 out of 5.
Service and Food : You have to prebook this place by paying 50% of the reservation amount as advance. Service staffs know exactly what is getting served and they will explain that as well. Salad, freshly cooked bread are very nice. The ice cream is really yummy. The food looks small in quantity but after having all courses you will feel completely packed.
Value For Money & Overall :
The only issue I had, though it says it’s based on seasonality, but your requested may not be taken into consideration. It’s proposed as kind of degustation menu but the variety is not there if you go for multiple times. It’s eventually the 90% same menu with some twists.
With the amount of money they are charging for a 5 course or 7 course meal, customisation as per individual request should be done.
It’s pretty windy, it’s better to have some jacket handy. This is not a kid friendly place and kids will be bored. So please plan accordingly.
I visited grasshopper on a Saturday evening for a seven course veg meal and was extremely delighted by the quality of ingredients, the thought put into each course and the perfection with which the food was prepared. It was a three hour gastronomic delight with a different kind of cheese and micro green in each course. During the course of our meal, we were also greeted by their beautiful canines Clove and Ninja. Would definitely visit the place again for the food and calming experience.
A must must must visit place in Bangalore. Perfect for a romantic dinner💗
If you haven't been to Grasshopper then you're really missing on an amazing classy experience. We went there to celebrate a birthday and it was great!
Ambiance - Its lovely. You feel like you're in the middle of a forest or something. Very less tables and each one having perfect distance that you can have your own private dining experience. It was just out of the movies.
Service - Their service is good, very sophisticated staff.
Food - Their food is really good. And the best part is that every course will look like its less in quantity but at the end of the meal you'll feel so full. 😁 We loved it and especially their lemongrass ice cream is a must try. Their prawns were out of this world.
Note - You should book in advance as they have very less tables. They have both veg and non-veg set meals and you'll have to pay some advance while booking the table.
I booked a table for the 5 course set meal for my Husband's birthday a few days in advance. The meal comes with a welcome drink(which we never got, now that I come to think of it), an unlimited basket of homemade breads, a salad, 2 starters, a main course and dessert(a plate for each, so you get to choose 2 different ones). They had made a note that it was for my husband's birthday when I made the booking, so they got him a tiny square of salted chocolate ganache with a candle, plated beautifully. It tasted even better than it looked. Sweet gesture-thanks, Grasshopper! Staff were courteous. The food was amazing-the meal is mostly veggie and cheese based(we picked a vegetarian meal) that comes with an unlimited bread basket. They don't do many rice/pasta based dishes. Also, it being outdoor dining, we were surprised how they've largely succeeded in keeping the mosquitoes away. The owner's pet dog is also around the place(not annoyingly so) and steals the show! Light jazz plays in the background. Loved the vibe overall and it was worth the money paid.
The most romantic date you could have. Especially, if it's one of your firsts. Of course it's pricey but it's worth it. But the food really needs to be better. Vegetarian menu wasn't as satiating or filling. All the 5 stars are for the place, setting and the service
It is a perfect place for an intimate dining experience. Take your special someone there for a nice candle-light dinner. Food is served more as an experience than food itself.
Yes this place has been on my list for quite some time and finally I made it with my girlfriend to celebrate our anniversary. No other place would have been a better choice. Absolutely beautiful. Set up in the middle of a cat Forest-y area.. Best candle light dinner experience. I like the part where they call you a day prior to ask for your tastes and expectation and food allergies. They make it just good so that you are left with a smile.
About the food... There is nothing you can say wrong about it cuz it's just perfect. And the service is impeccable.
If it’s a special occasion and you are looking for a romantic candlelight dinner then Grasshopper it is!
They have 2 options of set menu - 5 course and 7 course and the menu changes slightly daily.. you need to make a reservation minimum couple of days in advance and you need to make some advance payment to reserve your table..
The food was amazing.. prepared and plated with care with fresh and exotic ingredients.. Started with cucumber gel roll with caviar, followed by prawns with sea weed, salad with rocket leaves oregano cream cheese beets & walnuts, mushroom and chicken crostini, pan fried fish, lamb rounds with roasted potatoes and finally with the choice of dessert.
It is slightly heavy on pocket but worth the money!!
Food - 5/5
Ambience - 5/5
Service - 4.5/5
Value for Money - 4/5
Set in a farmhouse, the ambience is very well designed.
There are two types of tables. Always opt for the special table if you can.
Since I have a mosquito allergy, I asked to be seated inside the boutique, and they complied immediately.
We had a great time, and they have cutest dog called Clove, we loved spending time with her as well. (We specifically asked for her to be at our table, she doesn't spend all her time there, if you're scared of dogs, do not worry....she doesn't come near the tables. We asked for her)
We had the 5 course meal, and boy were we full.
Everything was tasty and the service was amazing!
I completely recommend this place.
Tip for the women: do not wear stilettoes.
Amazing food and great ambience for candle light dinner. Loved the grilled fish and lemon grass ice cream. Its quite expensive but worth visiting for a special occasion.
Wow!! A combination of absolutely brilliant ambience, polite staff and to top it off blessing on your palate. Looking for a date night this place is tailor made for it. The five course meal was an absolute delight
A very chic, special and exclusively fine dine place, which requires a mandatory table booking and also an option to choose from a 4 course or a 7 course dinner.
The place is open only during the evening.
Its a bit away from the hustle and bustle of the city, hence slightly difficult to trace the place even with Google maps navigation. But as you enter the property, you are welcomed with lots of greenery around and very limited tables set up as per their bookings. There was a small store inside, which houses dresses, accessories and products.
We had been there on the occasion of my husband's birthday. The table was very cutely set with flowers and candle. I had chosen a 4 course meal for us, the details of which were already given to me and I was also asked about any food allergies or anything that we have, so that they can take care of the same.
For the first course we had prawns with seaweed.
For the 2nd, there was a citrus salad for both of us.
We chose two different mains for the 3rd course, one being a chicken one with herbed potatoes and veggies and the other being a fish dish. The fish used had a crispy texture naturally and the red pepper sauce was amazing with it.
For 4th course, we opted for two different desserts. One was a panacotta and the other was a dessert served with a wasabi icecream!
All the courses were preordered and served on the table at the right times.
An amazing place to experience.
We had a great experience there. The staff was good enough, the host came down and addresses us. We rrally did enjoy the food and nice ambience. Cool place.
Booked a table after a friend recommended this as THE place I should be taking my wife out to on her birthday.
Loved every bit of the experience. Sonali was fantastic to talk to and make the booking. Very warm and accommodating of our preferences. Little expensive but it’s exclusive and worth it.
If I had to be critical I’d say there isn’t enough boards or lighting outside the entrance to help spot the place while coming in.
Everything else was top notch! The service - better than some star hotels and the food was world class! The prawns will have me go back time and again!
The friendly dog was the cherry on the cake :)

Perfect place for a special date!! Visited on our Anniversary, Cozy and private!!
Food was delicious too and well planned for five and seven course. I would love to visit again.
Ambience- 5 star
Food- 5 star
Service-5 star
Nice restaurant.I loved the dark chocolate ganache with mustard ice cream. Will come here again for sure any time soon. The location of this restaurant was good.
Oooh my God... I love... love... the ambience and the food here is exceptional, Its awesome.......
I love the way the food is presented here..
Its mind blowing..
I never had such tasty different food ever..
Every dish served here is a delicacy..
Love this ambience and food except for the bill.. 😐
I wish it was slightly cheaper.. 😐😊🧚♀️💖
This place is one of a kind experience for any special occasion. The ambience is romantic and isolated, makes you feel light. We opted for a 5 course nonveg meal. Only continental food is served.
This place offers an exclusive experience with just a hanful of tables which need to reserved in advance. Options of five and seven course meal are available. We chose the five course one. The prawn dishes were excellent. Lemongrass ice cream in the end was a great way to finish a meal. The ambience is great for a date night with appropriate music playing.
Its a really good place. The ambience is great. But the food could have been better. Its a nice place to have a pleasant talk over dinner! Need to pre-boom the seats as it is always full!
This place is among the best romantic fine dining experiences in Bangalore and rightly so. The place is a perfect blend of great ambiance, friendly service and mouthwatering food.
One needs to book a table in advance here with the choice of 5 or 7 course meal. We had booked the table for a nice Sunday evening. The place is all dark in backyard of a bunglow with great candle lit tables and jazz music playing in the background. In the food, we particularly liked the amazing prawns preparation, delicious salad (with beetroot, cream cheese and walnut), and the lamb. And to top it all, the ice creams in desserts (cinnamon and lemon grass) were just heavenly in taste.
The waiters and hosts are extremely courteous as well. All in all, it was a great experience. Highly recommended.
A nice restaurant, to enjoy the food and romantic evening with your love one. It's a perfect place for a romantic date. I really enjoyed the evening and time I spent on this restaurant. They have limited tables, around 7 table and all the tables are arranged very nicely that it gives you your own private space. It's better to book the table if you want to go to restaurant. They serve two types of meals - 7 course and 5 course. Quantity of food is perfect for one person. Food served is very unique, have excellent presentation and rich with flavors from the ingredients rather than heavy spices. Also if you are planning to be there till 10 pm, you can enjoy bonfire while having your delicious meals. I loved this restaurant and will visit it again for sure.
I wont spill any details
If you hav a date... book a table right away
This place defines the idea if a perfect date.
Candle light with a cozy setup
As you enter the aesthetic and rustic farmhouse, you are greeted by your server and led to a table with your specially curated menu. A small token selection of citric and nutty chocolates is then eaten to cleanse the palette.
The meal started off with a bread basket that is worth its own review. An assortment of sour Bread, Christmas Plum Bread, and French Bread, paired with their in-house Plum Jam and Herb Butter was in a word satisfying. We would however warn the diner against filling up on the same and enjoy them as sides with the rest of the meal. We were also given a selection of complementing wines to help with the development of lower notes of flavour.
1st Course
Vegetarian Option: It started off with a Stuffed Onion which was baked for 7 hours paired with Goat Cheese Thyme and Pine Nuts. Although, the flavours worked out unfortunately this dish was little too basic and left us wanting for more.
Non Vegetarian Option: The first course appetiser sported a Chicken Liver pate with Caramelised Onions and some greens. Though not everyone’s cup of tea, the Pate was smooth and featured notes of flavour in its echoing aftertaste. The slow cooked Jaggery Caramelised Onions were the unsung hero of the dish and helped balance the deeper notes of the Liver.
2nd Course
Vegetarian Option: It was Sourdough which was topped with Feta and Cranberry and was something that was certainly more up our alley after the first course. The sweetness of the Berry worked wonders with the saltiness of the Feta and when paired with the well made Sourdough which was baked in house certainly created some magic in your palette.
Non Vegetarian option: We then had a change to Seafood, with seared Prawns soaked in Butter Beans alongside Cherry Tomatoes providing a subtle citric touch to an otherwise fuller dish. The Prawns had a bite to it and went tremendously well with the softer creamier sauce.
3rd Course
Non Vegetarian option: A complex Slider of Chicken, Aubergine, Pesto and Manjoram with perfectly baked Bread, the third course tied together familiar tastes and contrasting textures in an unique manner that proved successful.
4th Course
Vegetarian Option: This course consisted of some Balsamic Beets which was topped with some Blue Cheese. Although this dish tasted great, it slightly reminded us of the first course which was something that left us wanting for more.
Non Vegetarian option: A personal favourite, the warm Prosciutto and Asparagus with a light drizzle and seasoning may just classify for a version of Umami and was a perfect end to the appetisers.
5th Course (Salad)
Option 1: A full bodied Salad with Walnuts, Figs, Beetroot, Tomatoes, garnished with Basil, Olive Oil and Feta provided a fresh and light entree before the main course.
Option 2: Another highlight of the meal, the second salad was much more heartier and the Feta and Goats Cheese alongside the Walnuts and Figs was incredible to say the least.
Option 3: The Last of the Salads consisted of Oranges, Greens, Walnuts and Black Olives. We never thought that a combination of Fresh Oranges and Savoury Olives would work but to our pleasant surprise they balanced each other perfectly especially with the surprise crunch from the Walnuts. This was probably our favourite one if we had to choose although we absolutely loved all the Salads.
Main Course
Vegetarian Option: For the main part of the meal we got a Root Vegetable Cous Cous topped with some Sour Cream and Rosemary which honestly stole the show with the Vegetarians. The vegetables had a very desirable chewy textures and almost gave you an Umami flavour because of the way it been cooked and infused with flavour. The Cous Cous added volume to the dish and ensured that you would feel completely satisfied but not bloated once you are done with the dish.
Non Vegetarian Option 1: The medium cooked Beef was tender and juicy, with a deeper Truffle flavour, while the Agave Mushrooms were surprisingly fresh, probably owing to the fact that they had been picked that morning. The dish was a solid 10 and paired beautifully with the select Red Wine.
Non Vegetarian Option 2: Cooked well and presented even better, the Smoked duck was an absolute delight to have, with the Meat sliding on to the fork. The Plum Sauce was a sweet accessory to the otherwise star of the dish and helped in creating a whirlwind of textures as well.
Desert
The desserts were served with a special Mulled Wine, made with extracts from Oranges, Lemon, Grapefruit and aged till mixture turns into a pure solution. The sweet Wine was a wonderful additive to the rich and crafted deserts.
A smooth and rich Chocolate Ganache with bitter sweet flavours emerging in every bite, was a perfect ending to the meal. It was served with a cool mustard ice-cream, which cut through the bitterness of the chocolate. On the whole the components of the dish complemented each other very well.
The Beetroot Ice Cream tasted more of Cranberries and held a grainier texture that tended towards a sorbet, though the dish did work very well and paired beautifully with the Mulled Wine.
We also got to try out their Christmas Pudding with Brandy Butter. It’s safe to say that this one isn’t for the faint hearted primarily due to the amount of Booze in this one. Let’s just say it would certainly be great way to finish your meal because it would probably end it on a high note.
Overall Verdict
We ended the meal around a bonfire and owing to the late evening winter chill of December, it honestly couldn’t have been any better than this. We would recommend this place not just for the culinary or dining experience but rather for its attention to detail and the effort that goes behind the preparation of the simple yet compounded dishes, all suited to your unique tastes and preferences. The sit down that goes behind the menu and its components is what makes it worthwhile the price. The waiting list sometimes hits even triple digits during the winter months and hence we would suggest trying to bag the opportunity sometime between March and August.
Food: 4.5/5
Price: 4/5
Service: 5/5
Ambience: 5/5
Grasshopper is one of the ideal place for romantic dinner or night out. They only serve 4 to 6 tables a night with five and seven course meal. Owner will give a call after you made a reservation to know your course preference, allergies, food preferences (veg, chicken or lamb) and will also explain the types of item that will be served.
I opted for 5 course meal and I relished every segment of it. Starters and main course were really amazing, also the presentation was top notch. Though I feel dessert option can be improved a little.
Waiter are very patient and explain the food before serving. They give time between serving so that you can enjoy the food with moment and cherish the time with your date.
I recommend this place if you are looking for good place for date night
Food - 4/5
Ambience- 5/5
PS: advance booking is must and the place is little off from main road so it's better to use map and book ride back in advance
Grasshopper: Had heard of this place many a time. Heard of the exclusivity, rustic feeling, unique tastes and unique experience.
To celebrate our 5th anniversary, we booked a dinner reservation. The owner of the restaurant asked us our dietary preferences, allergies, preference towards red meat/white meat/sea food and if we had any particular favorite flavor, etc... You can opt for a 5 course or a 7 course meal. Wanting to get the whole experience, we went for the latter.
We had booked the isolated table where there were candles lit around. To be honest, we were 100% sure that we wouldn't be able to see each others faces or the food and weren't too keen to sit there in spite of the arrangement they made and chose to sit at a well lit table.
The music was silently playing from the background, the table was huge and had lovely smelling flowers and created a very nice isolated feel.
We were first served a cold dish which had sea weed, pearls of fish essence and tarragon cheese. Then we had prawn cooked in mustard sauce accompanied by mango. Both these were master-chef level dishes.
This was followed by a mediocre salad that had walnuts, olives and tomatoes hidden in lettuce. The major turn-off was the lack of any dressing.
The main course was (1) Chicken roast with some seasoned potatoes and herbs and (2) Lamb in pepper sauce with some mashed potatoes. The Lamb I must say was cooked so well and so tender that the lightest touch of your fork upon the meat would force it to shred so well and tasted immensely with power packed flavors. The chicken roast was brilliant too.
For dessert, we had Mustard Ice Cream and Chocolate Ganache along with Pomegranate pana cotta. It was decadent in taste leaving us wanting for more.
The waiter created an experience for us, by ensuring sufficient wait time between each of the 7 courses. We started at around 7.30 pm and paid the bill about 3 hours later. Usually one would assume that you would run out of topics during such lengthy dinners (I personally never had such a lengthy one), but this restaurant just created the right ambiance to facilitate conversations.
I'd give it a 4.5/5. The reasons are:
1. The Veg options were limited in taste. There were more potatoes and cheese rather than any other variety.
2. The salad was not great at all, and lacked creativity and was served in excess where absolutely not required.
Overall a good experience if you are into gourmet food.
Amazing place... it was like we were not in Bangalore.. food was delicious.. and music complimented the setup. Courteous staff and you feel the time has taken a pause after the crazy bangalore life.. Thoroughly enjoyed each course of our meal and worth every minute spent there.. 👍🏼
This review is overdue since a very long time.. Highly recommended for date night.. Loved the ambience.. The candles, whispering of wind through trees and the mellow moon light were adding extra charm to the beautiful place.
Coming to food they serve a 7 course or 5 course meal. We opted for 7 course meal and it was really good.Loved the lemon grass ice-cream. The price is a tad on the higher side but the ambience and the service compensate for the price :D :)
Certainly this place is meant for candle light dinners.. one of the finest evening spent with my loved ones.. food and drinks becomes an add on ., if the place and the company is perfect.. being a nature lover great connection built.
The place was quite nice and away from the traffic and hustle bustle of the city which was a welcome change. The it only has 5 tables and mostly couples come here. The owner herself asked everyone if the food was good. The food was nice but not as good as you would expect for the amount of you are paying. The mutton was a little rubbery. All in all it was a good experience and definitely worth a try for a nice quiet date.
This probably is the most romantic place in Bangalore. They serve you 7 course meal with customization. It's situated in an amazing location. A girl will be definitely impressed if a guy takes her here.
So finally the wait was over and successfully achieved with help of my wife who planned a birthday surprise for me... Three since when I came Bangalore was trying to visit this place it's ambience, service, food, hospitality everything is what you want on a special date... Quite and cosy environment candle light dinner, 5/7 course pre set menu you can always mention you likes and dislikes and they will arrange for you... Modern European Dishes and perfect quantity and taste does make you feel heavy or disappointed... Hygiene health privacy are taken care very well.. if you really want to be at a place where you want to spend long hours with you loved one and really want to enjoy the evening this is the place you can choose but yes little expensive though but worth it...
1.Taste: Extremely delecious. Every single dish is promising.
2.Food Quality: 5/5.
3.Value for money: 3/5. It's 2k for 5 course per person and 2.5k for 7 course. It's worth the experience but again mainly to celebrate an occasion and not a walk in anytime place. Note: Requires pre booking here and they time slots.
4.Ambience: Garden set up with candles lit. Cosy and romantic. 3/5. There is scope to improve.
5.Hospitality: 5/5. Best part, the chef himself walks out to check on the dish and also gives a detailed discription for each dish. Feel good factor. Also, they consider the requests with good spirits and live it up to that.
6.Speciality: Fixed menu rather the chef's choice. But trust me, every dish is well made. Note, it's ONLY contenental.
7.Occasion: Date nights, Anniversary... purely couple place.
8.Music: light music... conversation friendly
9.Vegan friendly: Hell YES. Ask them for vegan while booking. They give 7 course vegan meal, which is absolutely delicious.
10.Crowd: Couples n couples.
If you are looking for a quiet place for a romantic dinner with your love this is the place to go. everything about grasshopper is five star. This place has a majestic ambiance with candle and flower decoration, the place gives a calm and relaxing feeling you will fall in love with your partner once again. Let's come to food, the best part about this place is carefully selected menu which is personalized based on your food choices and preferences, you don't have to take the pain of going through a long menu card and then be confused about what to order. Each dish is perfectly cooked and is delicious. The staff is well behaved and is very courteous. I can assure that you will enjoy this place.
My two cents to the management, if you can restrict entry to children below 5years of age that will be good.
If you want to impress someone, this is the place to be! An ideal date place, with just 5 tables you need to book this place atleast a week in advance.
They have a PRE SET MENU - five course or seven course meal to choose from. The food is quite different from the regular European menu & worth having
While the price is definitely on the higher side, its a one time visit just for the ambience
The first restaurant I tried in Bangalore was Grasshopper .Pleasant location. Nice ambiance .The food was absolutely wonderful . Loved the presentation on each plate . First came the refreshing drink - Lime with crushed mint .And the Multi grain crusty bread followed . It was tasty and tempting but we had to keep our tummy empty for the Starters and Main course .
Then we were served 1 . Warm Fig with Feta cheese ( it was light )2 . Salad contained romaine lettuce, walnuts , arugula , dill wit beetroot and feta cheese ( a classic combination )3 .Warm shrimp cocktail w/ poached garlic , citrus dressing ( I could taste some citrus and it was nice )4 . Goat cheese crostini with smoked aubergine . ( The second best aubergine dish I have ever tasted in my life )I was starting to feel full and then came the Main course .5 . Succulent Sea bass w/ capers ( Fish was fresh )
6 . Lamb shank ( nothing extraordinary . Could get the same at any regular restaurant overseas )7 . Panna Cotta with expresso ( spot on ) . We paid extra for the Dessert .
This is one of the restaurants where you take your time to enjoy everything around you . No rush . Reservation a must . Expensive .
We celebrated our special occasion with a 7 course meal here. If you are planning for the evening Reach the place when there is a little bit of sunlight so you can look around the place. Place is very quiet and romantic. Food wasn't that great but it is ok. There will be only 5-6 tables around. We really enjoyed our moment.
I would recommend this place👍
Amazing place and awesome food. Though on the higher side, it is absolutely apt for the overall experience is hardly has parallel. Would love to go back again and again...

Of all the places I've visited so far in Bangalore, this place just took my breath away. This little slice of heaven is tucked away in Gotigere and is a must visit for every couple. The ambience is calm and relaxing and the service is unparalleled. It was the first place I've come across that you can enjoy a gourmet meal with jazz music playing in the background. They have a set menu which is a five course meal and each course is ample and succulent. Though it is a little on the pricey side, I believe it is totally worth it. I look forward to visiting here again soon.
Well, I was looking for some place for our dinner date! Suddenly I came to know about this joint and I called them for a table reservations (recommended) and we finally dropped in to this place! Lemme tell you, you won’t feel you are in bangalore rather some countryside area! So calm n peaceful place it is. Basically a colonial farm house turns into a luxurious restaurant!
They only host for 5 table for a eve and that’s the reason you can spend a gala time with your partner while cherishing their mouth watering five course meal!
It’s not just a dinner date for us but an experience..
A beautiful experience I would recommend to everyone!! Warm staff, sweet and pleasant ambience and the best part for me was a noiseless peaceful surrounding far from the city hustle! It is quite a drive from the city so it did feel like a bit of getaway honestly! The Jazz music to go with the evening was absolute pleasure!
About the Food: The preparation was made to taste and was flavoursome. The 5 course meal is quite appetizing in itself. The 7 course meal is for the happy bellies! And it will make you happy. I am not a fan of Aubergines but the preparations at Grasshopper were good to have. The main course Braised Chicken with Olives was absolutely delicious, the meat was well cooked and juicy and I loved it. The salads were a delight too. Overall the food is experience is very good.
Friendly advice to the reader: Reserve your table in advance as there are only 5 tables catered to. And the fact that it is limited seating is a big plus in adding to the space and privacy every table gets. Also hope to God the weather is on your side to not miss out on the private table outdoor 😄 Plan your travel to the venue properly, map it out and get the travel time checked in advance given traffic in the evening on Bannerghatta Road is a bit of menace with metro work underway 😐
For Grasshopper: Please light up the place a little more than just table candles. The place is sweet and I think alot more can be done with lights to add to the beauty of this lovely venue. The image added below is edited for the reader's benefit but you can try more with lights and that alone will make a huge difference in setting up the ambience next level. 🙂
Special mention to Sonali who is the nicest to interact with. She was very accommodating of the requests made with the booking changes and made it all work beautifully. 😊 Thank you!
Must try: Honey Cinnamon Ice cream with Honey gems! 😋
Gradshopper was on my top list since the time I gor married and settled in Bangalore as it always topped the charts of the romantic dine outs on the social media. I had booked this place for my husband on his birthday and it couldn’t have been better.
Located in Banerghatta, away from the concrete jungle and the Banaglore traffic this is a perfect location with excellent food and service. Its a luxury dining feel in an all together different way. The food has perfect balance of the ingredients in all the dishes that were served.
Definately going for this experience again for a special occassion in the near future.
This is a beautiful little paradise in the middle of nowhere. Their ambience will give some of the most beautiful moments with your partner. Food can definitely get better maybe with more cuisine options. The desserts were really good!! All in all it’s a must experience once kinda place :)
A beautiful secluded restaurant away from the city. Perfect for date night. They have limited tables so make sure you book in advance. The food is according to the chef which is absolutely brilliant! Its little heavy on the pocket but then its an experience!Must visit.
Ambience: 5/5
Food: 4.5/5
Services: 5/5
Cost:4/5
Perfect place for those special occasions and especially if you have a refined palate.
There's a fixed chef decided menu. Albeit expensive, the quality and presentation of the food will be worth the cost. The seats outside in the garden are especially good dining under clear sky. Ask for extra coils, mosquitoes could turn out to be a problem.
Also do mention if it's an occasion, they'll be more than happy to provide a small dessert souvenir.
All in all excellent service and a great experience.
Good food, secluded and peaceful location. owner was helpful in sharing details and processing the reservation. Wish we knew that you could take your own drinks for a nominal fee. Nice place for a special occasion
The ambience and dogs, it's fantastic. It was a fabulous experience.
Candle light dinner, 5 course meal and a fine dine with dogs, makes it one romantic evening.
Went on a dinner on Saturday night. You need to make a reservation in advance to get the seat of your choice and you need to explicitly tell the restaurant which seat you want, as the restaurant guys would not ask you.
Food - 4.5/5 - We ordered a seven course vegetarian meal which consisted of 4 appetizers, two main course dishes and one dessert. The food presented is aesthetically brilliant and tastes good as well. There was one dish which had mashed potatoes that we did not really like much. Rest everything was good, specially the desserts. The ginger ice cream was the best ice cream I ever had.
Ambiance - 4/5 - The Ambiance is superb for a date night. The place itself is located a bit far off from the main city and is very quiet which adds to the charm of this place. There are two options of seating - in the verandah or in the lawn. Opt for the lawn seating when you book. The only let down is the seats which are not comfortable at all. Maybe they can get some better seats that would add to the entire experience.
Service - 4/5 - overall pretty nice except for few points. When you reach the place you yourself hv to find a way to the place and there was apparently no one present. We had to search them to find about our seating. Also about the explanation of dishes, I think they could hv given more details of each dish that was served. Probably they did not want to invade the privacy of the couple but I still think they cud hv done better.
Verdict - very good place for a romantic dinner.
The best fine dine experience i have had in Bangalore. Heard about this place a lot and boy, it lived upto the expectations. You do need to prebook and they take into consideration any food preference that you might have. The 7 course meal is very nicely curated. I chose this place to propose to my wife and the staff brought small gifts ( pre instructed) to the table with every course. The food was impeccable and the fact that you don’t have to spend time looking through the menu, gives you more time to have a meaningful conversation. Would recommend this place to everyone and keep up the good work.👍🏼
Well.. this highly anticipated place.. not advertised much but always full.. so make your reservations well in advance.. I had taken my wife here for Valentine's.. beautifully maintained with a serene ambience having only 7 or 8 tables.. not your usual cuisine very different and unique.. beautifully decorated savoring the taste buds.. feeling of being amongst nature in this concrete jungle.. with sound of toads made it special.. located perfectly this farm house and it's host were generous.. a few barking pet dogs in the premises might not be to everyone's liking.. the wine and home made chocolates were the icing on the cake ... but a tad too expensive for the experience..
Well, this place is not a restaurant but a cherishing experience in itself. It has strategically isolated itself from the hush-hush of the town and maintained the solitude as aligned with its theme of romance and mystique. Delightful European cuisine, charismatic aura, and customized service (for the choice of food and servings) are sure to add a treasured memory in your romantic dairies. Highly recommend the place for romantic dinners, and for any special occasion to be celebrated.
Very nice ambience! The place is a farmhouse converted to a niche dining place. Definitely a high end diner! The jazz played in the background added to the moonlit romantic evening.
The food is presented so artistically! Amazingly fresh and delectable.
We had a seven course meal which had various dishes of caviar, ginger prawns, lamb, chicken and orange salad with walnut and olives.
The staff is very cordial and we were also presented some delecious chocolate ganache as a special treat for our wedding anniversary.
Thank you guys for a memorable evening!
V had a great time at grasshoppers. My 5 year old daughter also enjoyed the dinner... She was scared of the dogs visiting near the table.. apart from that everything was perfect
Very exclusive, very secluded fine dining establishment that's been around for a while.
1. Located on the extremities of Bannerghatta Road, it can take a while to get there through the crazy traffic.
2. Reservation is mandatory as they are quite small and serve set meals.
3. Somewhat expensive (5-course meal at Rs 2000, 7-course meal at Rs 2500 per head)
4. Excellent service and ambience.
5. Visually beautiful and very tasty food.
Recommended for special occasions.
A "Prix Fixe" menu. You don't come here for the food. You are paying a hefty price only for the ambience and being close to nature . The five course meal is definitely palatable. For me it was just a one-time novelty to find such a quite and romantic place within the city. You can almost hear the crickets chirp during dinner.
I am really surprised to see negative reviews here. It might be people's personal opinion. For me it was a special day. We went for our marriage anniversary celebration. The place is a gem hidden in the hustle bustle of the city near a lake. Greenery all around. Very limited seating to serve better. Yes they take 50% of booking amount. But they make sure the standard of service and food they are providing. The food was cooked to it's perfection. Super awesome vibe. Delicious delicacies. Romantic atmosphere. What else you want!
The place is good for candle light dinner especially for candle light dinner. Also, you need to struggle for good pictures, it's hard to find good images in this darkness. No doubt ambience is good, services are good, best place for candle light dinner not for pictures.
Pre book, before visiting ... !
It was our first visit and the occasion was my birthday....very asthetic place surrounded by fresh flowers and lush greenery...Non veg food was very delicious n mainly lamb was super yummy. The sevice and mainly staff is very courteous. Price is on the higher side. However for vegetarians not much exciting though as they lack majorly on cottage cheese/ mushrooms/ babycorn. Good for an occasional visit.
Visited this amazing restaurant for a birthday dinner and enjoyed every bit of it...
Booked a 7 course set menu, priced at 3500+ tax per head (5 course is for 3k). Once you book your table with 50% advance, the owner calls you to ask your preferences/restrictions etc. to be well prepared.
Our non-veg menu had an Amuse bouche, prawns, chicken, salad, fish, lamb, desserts in different courses with a welcome mocktail (wine charges extra), Everything cooked to perfection. Few salad items were grown in house which was amazing.
Night ambience is more of candle light dinner. Book for lunch if you want to enjoy greenery as well.
There is a in house boutique as well, in case you need a walk between your meal.
P.S.- their mascot Grasshopper also visited us 😉
Nestled in the noisy and busy neighbourhood is grasshopper in a calm serene green environment. You feel you have walked into a peaceful space surrounded with trees and plants. There are only two large tables ( eight seater) that Sunday afternoon. The five course meal was awesome to our eyes as well as appeasing to the stomach Each dish was customised to our specification and it was an enthralling and unique experience from the drink to dessert. The service was excellent and the staff really were attentive and courteous. Truly an enjoyable time with our family. Cherished memories 👍👍
It is perfect for an intimate setting. It's a candlelight dinner surrounded with flowers. There's no noise or crowd. They play soft music. The setting is great for a special occasion.
If you are in a mood for a peaceful dining experience with fantastic service and food, this is the place to be.
Make sure you call in advance before your special date to make reservations and confirmation for the same.
Coming to the food itself, we had the 7 course meal and we tried both the veg and the non-veg and both were mind blowing. Take time to enjoy every course as your tastebuds relish the beautiful mix of flavours.
The courses were appropriately spaced out and the portion was perfect.
They also added in some desserts as it was a celebration dinner for us.
The host and the owner and the chef all came back for a quick chat and that was wonderful too.
Cannot wait to come back again! ❤️
Fine dining restaurant suitable for couples. They have limited seating which is ideal for fine dining and personal experience. One must have a liking for the degustation menu to appreciate it.
The ambience is quite with lots of trees , plants and a semi open air seating.
Food was fine. We went in the evening and due to just candle light could not really appreciate the fine art(if any) done on the food presentation. Day time visit is recommended for those who like to enjoy the food presentation art.
It's on the costlier side with approx 8k rupees for a 7-course meal. You need to make advance booking.
The chef doesn't pull any punches flavour-wise but at the same time delivers a superbly balanced set of courses. Unusual, considering the gentleman is 24 years old. Ambience and service were excellent. I think all of us will remember what we ate.
Enjoyed our dinner. It was a 7 course meal and a little time between courses. Only 6 tables - so it was an intimate experience.
Plating was lovely. Dining in the open with minimal light was romantic. The overall experience was good.
It's one of a kind place in South Bangalore for folks who want to spend quality time with their partner and also enjoy degustation menu.
Another plus I personally loved - food preferences are asked a day or two in advance and every course brought to you is a custom made for you. No reading off of a menu and splitting hair in deciding to get this or that - leaving the two of you to really, really spend time with each other.
They also have just a few tables (4 or 5) in a pleasant open and green area with tasteful minimalist lighting. Add some soothing instrumental jazz to the background and the evening is set for a candle light dinner.
On areas which could be better, my spouse did find the chairs a tad bit stiff for a 2/3 hour sit down, and maybe literally a few mosquitoes towards the late evening under the table - but that's nitpicking.
Overall, highly recommended for those who seek some tranquil and focussed time with their partner.
One of the most Romantic places in Bangalore for date or for special occasion. 4 wheeler (not valet) is available inside the compound. Ambience was cozy. They have 5 tables in total including private terrace and private downstairs. Make sure to do reservation well in advance, as limited seats are available. Pre set menu will be shared upon paying the token advance. Coming to Food, 7 course meal was served and was delicious. Owner Ms Sonali also came in the end to ask for feedback.
Overall experience was good, the food was good the vibe was perfect.
The cost was a bit on the higher side.
We had booked 5 course meal, it was very much sufficient for two of us.
Yes, you have to book the table weeks before by paying half amount, it is not ala carte you don't decide the menu, it is chef special.
The place is well away from the highwa, peaceful, no loud music all you can hear is the person you went with.
It was a great place to dine and enjoy with love one.
Contrary to the previous post , we celebrated a dear friend’s birthday at Grasshopper last night. I contacted Grasshopper two weeks ago to plan for this dinner to set the menu and request few additional requirements. We were a group of 11 with many different requirements and specifications.. allergies, food preferences , likes dislikes and specific diets. I must say it has been an absolute pleasure dealing with Sonali and Chef Touseef. They catered to all our requests and offered us an amazing 7 course menu. I was travelling and despite my busy schedule they were extremely accommodating.
Last night at dinner the service team was exceptionally kind and tried their best to cater to all our requests. While we were to start the dinner at 7pm, we were fashionably late and started the dinner at 8.15pm. We were informed earlier that their closing time was 10 pm but they did not put pressure on us or serve us in a hurry.
Each course (I can speak for the non-vegetarians) was delicious and was throughly enjoyed by everyone. Restaurants like Grasshopper require prior information if we have an additional member joining and it does become difficult for them to cater to last minute entires and changes. One of our dinner attendees decided to bring their nanny to the dinner and although this was not communicated to Grasshopper they tried their level best despite their limitations to cater to this person. The nanny was offered food and beverage to the best of their ability. This was very kind of them as we had by then completely disregarded the terms and conditions they had told us in advance. As we arrived late we ended up staying until 10.45, 45 minutes after their closing time. Many service staff live far away and need to rely on public transport and yet they did not rudely throw us out like many restaurants sometimes do or resort to tactic of dimming lights etc etc.
The only thing I can fault grasshopper over last night dinner experience is that they should have more ice to beat this summer heat and also perhaps offer some soft drinks to non drinkers. Other than this I think the service, the food the location was delightful and really a wonderful evening to remember.
Thank you Sonali, Chef Touseef and team for a memorable evening and your kind hospitality.
Beautiful, romantic, excellent food.
The setting in a beautiful garden where your way is guided by candles is very special.
The tables are covered by flowers and candles and some are under the stars while others are under a roof but still in open air.
The 7 courses menu is filling without exaggeration and made of fresh market products cooked to perfection and beautifully presented.
My favorite western restaurant in Bangalore.
A year later:
The quality of the food is still great and some dishes are even more elaborated. Superb.
True chef experience. Loved the food. Enjoyed the company and had a nice evening with colleagues. A must do if you like gourmet experience. The salad was fresh and tasty. Lamb was perfectly cooked so was beef. Chicken had gone cold i guess waiting at the pass. Panacota was wiggly and yummy. Rest was all just 🌹.
