Amazing place ,second generation has taken up the mantle , same place same interiors almost the same taste , but the fish curry has changed a little bit .
Fresh seafood. A little expensive. Hygienic place. Friendly staff. Hands down best seafood restaurant in Bangalore.
Food that calms the soul on any day. Fishland is one of the finest restaurants not only for the seafood but also for vegetarian delicacies. The Crab chilli boneless( yes! BONELESS ) is to die for. The Chicken 65 leaves you wanting for more. Fishland transports you to sandy beaches and western ghats just with their food.
We had ordered Kori rotti. Prize is comparatively high compared to other Coastal restaurants. Taste is up to the mark.
Staff's were very polite. Ambience is average.
Me and my wife are always on the lookout for good seafood in Bangalore and when we heard of this place we didn't waste much time before we drove 1.5hrs to try out their food.
Everything was extremely fresh. That's the most impressive thing about this place. We ordered silver fish rava fry, prawns rava fry and crab chilli. Both the rava fries were extremely tasty, must try!
The crab was really fresh. They gave us two options for the crab chilli, with shell or without shell. We didn't want to get our hands dirty so we opted for the without shell option, which I think was a wrong decision. Although there was ample tender crab meat in it, I didn't get a lot of crab flavours that I think the shell option would have definitely given. Food portions were decent.
The staff, as you would expect in a busy place like this, wouldn't wait by the table if you take your time with the order. There is a sense of urgency that makes you feel that you need to place your order quickly. They are not rude my any means, they are on a fast lane I suppose. The service was also quick.
The food here is slightly more expensive. The price is midway between a shack and a fine dining restaurant. The decor is also somewhere in between a fine dining place and an old reputed restaurant that stood in time.
I wouldn't drive 1.5hrs again for this place but would definitely drop in if I'm close by and out of places on my bucetklist in the vicinity. A must try for fresh seafood lovers.
This is, hands down, one of the best places to get some great seafood. So homely and simply delicious. A family favourite. Everything here is just so good and great value for money! Definitely recommend the thalis, prawn masala fry, appams and neer dosa. If you're looking for some good food with no fuss about ambiance and plating and all that, this is the place for you!
Cant believe I missed this gem of a place. Totally old school in every way.
Had their Rava Fry Fish, Prawn Masala, Prawn Biryani, Chilly Crab, Fish Curry rice amongst others. Absolutely delightful experience and fantastic food.
Look forward to visiting again. Hope they had a little more variety though.
If u r seafood lovers then this the right place for u . I m going to this restaurant since my childhood. They have maintained good hygiene and taste since years . Affordable price feel happy for what u Pay . Decent ambiance with good hygiene and tasty food .
I have been going to Fishland for over 25 years. Nothing has changed. It is still basic and fairly clean. The seafood is consistently very good and very Mangalorean. The fish curry rice is pretty awesome. The Prawn and Kane masala fry is very good. So if you miss Mangalorean seafood this is the place. I don't remember ever having tried their Chicken or meat dishes though it is on the menu. If you like air-conditioned ambience you should go to Status next door but I don't think they serve Thaali there.
I have been regularly visiting this place and it's just so reasonable and yet delicious to your tummy. Worth for what you pay for. Also it's one of the oldest restaurant. Don't go by the looks.
The Bangalore Food Harem
+3.5
Fishland has been dishing out extremely affordable and delicious Mangalorean food before any other place in Blr and doing so with relative hygeine, something not typical of your average mess. If you're in a hurry, grab their humble yet enjoyable fish thali (pictured above) or if you can spare the time do try their excellent ghee roasts/ sukka with neer dosa! Fishland is too good to be missed for those who love mangi food!
Best sea food restaurant in Bangalore. Doesn't burn your pocket. Ambience is basic and clean. Family can dine. Prawn fry, Kane (lady fish) curry, neer dosa, king fish fry recommended. Finding parking here is difficult, no valet parking either that's the only drawback.
This place has been here for almost 80 years now.. amazing home cooked sea food and gives you good flavours of the Mangalore coast sitting in Bangalore hustle bustle.. subtle ambience reasonable prices for the thali... I'm pretty sure you'll fill your stomach quickly but not your heart.. highly recommend this place!
This is the perfect go to place for typical coastal cuisine. A very simple, authentic and tasty food that is worth every penney. Staff is very helpful and service is very quick.
It definetly reminds you of a perfect home cooked authentic managlore style seafood.
Fish meals is the best. Neer dosa, kane fry and the list is endless.
This place is worth going every bit. You get such delicious seafood for such an affordable price. The Ambience is so good and they serve you really fast. It has got a perfect South Indian tinge prepared it so delicately that every bite you take is worth remembering and you feel like visiting again and again!
Cheapest and best seafood in town (fish especially)
Go for special seafood thali.
Silver fish starter is brilliant, they are like French fries but made of fish.
We also tried veg thali, it's just normal, nothing brilliant.
Ambience is very local.
It's located at first floor.
Finding a parking spot is bit tricky.
Food is amazing! We tried their classic fish thali and it was totally worth every penny.
The staff is courteous and I don't generally give tips but here i did. :)
We had a great time!
Looking forward to my next visit!
Ahhh!😬 When it comes to fish meal 🥘 i always choose the best one.Hmm ya this is one. Fishland one of the oldest hotel in majestic with authentic coastal taste and smell, try the authentic meal and any of the fry available. For 200 your tummy will be full.
If you are looking for fresh and authentic south kanara cuisine.. this is the place. Fish is extremely fresh and each recipe lip smackingly tasty. Waiters are curteous.Well priced for the taste. Would definitely return.
Ignore the ambience, this is just about sea food.
Order their spl thaali. You either get white or red rice with it. A mangalorean style curry in glorious red shade and spicy, a fish fry, veggie dry curry, thick curd, yummy buttermilk. You can order other items on the side - crab, prawns, sea shells masala taste great. The rawa fry fish is the highlight - super fresh fish, tasty masala and ample in quantity. There is no smell or strange taste of raw sea food. The service is super quick.
Ambience is very much below par, place isn't the cleanest in the seating area. There is a bar and restaurant right outside, ignore that place as well.
There is no service charge - don't forget to pay the waiter and the cleaning woman
Went in for an early lunch on a Saturday and thry were still settings up the place. They were quite accommodative to let me sit inside while they are preparing to open. I ordered just the Fish meals and bottle of water. The boiled rice and fish curry was as usual good with the right amount of spice and sourness. The rava fry was a let down because the fish was a tad hard and not soft. It maybe because of frozen fish and it didn't taste great. It is a decent place for a no frills mangalorean fish thali.
Amazing sea food, economical and totally worth it. Parking might be a challenge. Seating and ambience is okay but you will forget all of that once you take the first bite.
Good old place for seafood. from prawns to fish to crab ..everything was very tatsy with perfect flavours.
Not a place for Vegiterian as my veg frnd only had rice roti and some veg curry ..
but yes one of teh best for seafood .
place is a bit downside ..can be kept more clean ..
I've been coming here for almost a decade now. Its a tough place to find. But the best sea food you'll get. It's pocket friendly and the food is up to the mark for the price you are paying. Ambience isn't great, then again its a very old hotel in bangalore. Must try.
Power seafood. We ordered limited seafood special thali. Surmai fry, curry - all top notch. Great service, easy on the wallet. Only thing missing was soul kadi.. 😊
"Heavenly" is the word for the food served by Fishland ... A small place with mouth watering sea food (mangalorean style). It was a random plan and random search on Zomato that I landed in Fishland and I must say I was lucky to find this place.. Great Food here made my day ! It is an Absolute delight for seafood lovers.
Chilly Crab is a must try which is not chinese rather very much Indian made from green chilly paste...The crab meat was juicy and sweet and each bite was delectable.. The staff was good and cleanliness of the restaurant is well maintained specially in comparison to the location it is in...Giving a rating of 4/5 as I expect them to have more such amazing seafood dishes on the menu :)
Place is little difficult to find, but once you get here you would know its a really popular place. We reached here at 3.15pm on a Sunday afternoon, still place was crowded. Though we found a seat and ordered a crab masala and a special limited thali. Both were good.
Have been to fishland a few times.I tried the crab chilly ,it was sweetish and it had a hint of spicyness, then comes the rava fish fry which was really tasty and not oily. The fish curry and the fish in the fish curry is really really good ,but the only thing which i didn't like was the prawn biryani, was spicy and didn't have a lot of prawns. I had to walk to the restaurant quite a bit because there was no parking space . But tht really doesn't matter because the food here is really worth it :)
Awesome place for seafood which is also pocket friendly. The best thing is they let you share your thali :) Must go for all Sea Food Lovers!!!
This was our first visit to Fish land and oh my must say we were overwhelmed.
We had the limited fish thali, specially liked the rava fried seer fish the give along with the thali, the fish curry was exactly like we prepare in my hometown, that's with coconut milk which is thick and juicy.
All you need to have a lump sum meal is the rice, fish curry and fry, we were content!!!
A complete mangalorean place. The best place for seafood. Almost 50 types of seafoods will be available every time in the restaurant. It was very old place but maintaining the constant taste from years.
Chicken biryani and omlet were best. Obvious fish will be tasty.
This is one of the legendary food joints of this city, was near majestic and were dead hungry, dad being a die hard fish fan (that's how malayalees roll ;)) went there, ordered veg biriyani and one of the fish combo and it was amazing, must visit for all fish lovers.
Amazing seafood alert! You should definitely try out the seafood thali with silver fish. Combination of classic old school ambiance with good service will make your meal special.
Suggestion: Do try out boiled rice with fish curry, its just brilliant.
P.S: Typical mangalorean style food.
If you love coastal food ( Manglorean style) you should definitely visit this place. Its more like a canteen or cafeteria so don't expect any fancy interior. They have very basic set up.
What you would love about it is the food. They cook the fish to perfection. Try the following : Chicken Sukka/Crab Masala/Marvai Sukka/fish fry (Rava coating/masala fry). Masala fry is spicy. Their fish thali is also very good.
Check for the price of the fish items before you order, they can surprise you ;). Vegetarians have little or no options. You might struggle to get a Car parking.
My Rating :
Food : (4.5/5)
Service : (3/5)
Ambiance : (1/5)
Value for money :(4/5)
What better place than Fishland to satiate my fish cravings. I have to agree, not everyone likes the ambience here. But when u r so into your plate who cares!
Ordered the fish thali and 2 fish fries to go along with. Kane and pomfret were the best. The fish is fresh, their fish curry is authentic mangalorean cuisine with an option of brown or white rice. They are priced very economically since they cater to a large population from outstation too!
No frills, no fancy cutlery, no jaw dropping ambience.. Just plain authentic fish meals.
It was a sporadic decision to go to this restaurant as I was in the area. Went on a friend's recommendation and it was worth it.
It's the old Bangalore charm that you will love. People living in Bangalore for long will instantly connect to the place.
A very clean hygenic setup with old furniture and basic seating. The food that they serve is a mangalore style of cooking.
I order the fish thalli and a masala prawn. The thalli consist of fish fry and fish curry. Have options of the Kerala rice as well as the the boiled rice as an option. It had a sambar, bhaji along with it.
Curry was red, aromatic, sour with curry leaves. It tasted very good and checked all the boxes of the curry. The fish fry prices were very generous and it was a race fry.
The fish was cooked beautifully and the crunch of the rava complemented the white flaky flesh. It was heaven!
This moment I decide a l need a prawn masala fry. It takes time as they make everything fresh. I wait for 10 mins but worth the wait.
The prawns were fresh and cooked to perfection. There should be a bite in your prawn. And it has that...the masala will leave you salivating.
Great food. Need to come back again to try more... It's the Namma Bangalore moment!
If you like fish thalis and/or fish(South Indian prep) in general, then this is a must try place.
I don't remember how I landed up in this locality but I'm glad I did. You may need google maps to find this place though.
Am not fan of Mangalorean cuisine, but gave it a try, had fish biryani and prawns, it was spicy, a bit on the expensive side, less variety, got the old charm of Bangalore to it, would recommend it to all my friends who are into Mangalore styled dishes.
There's always a sheer liking and respect for seafood as we are from the coastal areas, fish is one of our daily necessities for lunch and dinner.
This was our first visit to Fish land and oh my must say we were overwhelmed.
We had the limited fish thali, specially liked the rava fried seer fish the give along with the thali, the fish curry was exactly like we prepare in my hometown, that's with coconut milk which is thick and juicy.
All you need to have a lump sum meal is the rice, fish curry and fry, we were content
The rasam they serve along with it was also great.
Next time I definitely would want to try the neer dosa, chicken sukka and prawns fry, writing this review is getting my mouth watering already. ☺
The ambience is of an old 70s mess or hotel, so anyone looking for decor would not be happy but the food especially seafood is godly.
Oh yes and for the first time I have seen mouthshut.com give a 5 on 5 rating....
Ah, easily the best place for well cooked Mangalorean style food.
Been here over 50 times. Still order the same - fish thali (try the red/boiled rice or you can stick to white rice) crab curry, pomfret (rava-fry) and the chicken sukka.
Ordering anything else on their menu is also pretty much advisable xD
The food is light, and keeps your tummy happy and you can still manage to get back to work for the later part of the day's work.
Vegetarian people, can survive with the panner and chapati, as long as you're willing to sacrifice your table space for us :D
(Approx. 1k for 2 people)
The rating is purely for the quality and taste of the seafood.
Have tried the seer, pomfret fry. Always been good.
Forget the ambience etc. Go there for the fish.
I have spent 5 years in Manipal and only someone who have lived in Coastal Karnataka can understand my craving for Sea Food. Went to this place to satiate my craving, and boy!! I was bowled out.
I ordered Crab Masala, Bangda Masala Fry with Neer Dosa and everything was up to the mark. The best part is that nothing was too spicy and still I found myself licking the left over Masala on the Bangda fish. The crab was also succulent and portions served were good.
In the next visit we ordered Chicken Sukka which was right to the spot and Prawn Masala which was just decent. Not to forget, their service was pretty quick too. Definitely visiting again for Surmai fry, Fish Biriyani and Prawns!
My resort when I get those heavy cravings for konkani style seafood. Crab chilli is a must try. It comes with a greenish coriander based semi gravy and never found any other crab chilli on par with this. Have been visiting this place since 6 years and not once was the quality bad. The masala fries are a treat. Not many options but whatever available is enough to pacify your taste buds. The only complaint I have is about the seer fish fry that comes with the thali combo. It doesn't taste good. Always opt for the limited sea food thali and order the fries separately.
The restraunt ambience is decent, well air conditioned. The hospitality was very good, the owner himself serverd us food. Crab special was delicious,By far the best crab i've had. We had also ordered shellfish, which was not that good. Although it's a little expensive, you must give it a try! Cheers.
This is one of the best restaurants in Banaglore to have managloreans food. I visit this place as often as I can because the food is just that good and the prices are low too. The ambiance isn’t all that great but this is one of those places that you really go for for the food. I love the neer dosa, fish curry rice, the chicken sukka and the fish fry here. The food here is just mouth-wateringly delicious.
My bus home to Kerala is two blocks down the road from this place .
And I tried it under my grandparents recommendation ..so that's how old this place is
So every time I have to catch my ride from there I eat here ...
Food here Malabar mangalore style is soooo good
Prawns biryani is amazing...
I talk on and on abt this place to my fends but sadly none have shared the experience with me yet ..... God they r missing out on something
Ambience is an old canteen type and also the staff appear so
Visited this place last week .
A simple place with polite and attentive staff.
parking would be difficult to find..so better book a cab to reach there.
We ordered two fish thalis. and two crab.
fish was delicious..the gravy was yummm
and crab was big and full of juice..we loved each n every thing..
Staff was quick n polite..one thing we noticed wa seach staff was barefeet..may be their policy.
pricing..it was very very pocket friendly for the amount and kind of food they deliver.
highly recommeded for Fish & crab lovers..
Have visited this restaurant quite a few times, as this place is very near to my work place..
PARKING : Finding a parking can be an issue since the restaurant is situated on a busy and narrow road..
AMBIENCE : The restaurant is situated on the first floor of the building and is spacious.. Though the ambience is pretty much basic , the dining area is kept clean and tidy..
FOOD: I usually prefer fish Thali ( one cup white rice/ boiled rice, lady fish curry, veg palya, buttermilk and Rasam).. Apart from Fish thali I have tried lady fish fry, bangda fry and prawn Masala.. Have never been disappointed with the quality and taste of the food here..
SERVICE AND PRICE : The serving staff are polite and attentive.. Service is quick and food is moderately priced..
This place is a good bet for someone looking for authentic Mangalore cuisine..
I visited this place on Feb-09-2016 with my wife and wanted to have only seafood. You have Bar & Restaurant for family and also normal standard place to sit. I went to Bar & Restaurant - The ambience here is not that great when you compare to RASA, SEA ROCK, KUDLA, GOLD FINCH etc. Just a small place were you get better taste. We had Chilly Crab which costed - 450. (Excluding Tax - But it was spicy and yummy). Next had Chilly Prawns - but different masala here. Even this was nice and spicy - it costed same as 410 (Excluding Tax). Next Tava Fish - Anjan which was really expensive - Costed around 490 :-( just for a slice, but the taste was kind of okay not that great when compared to crab and prawns. Sweet & Salt lime Juice was good - costed around 50. Post that went to Fried rice because was really full with the starters. Fried rice was not at all good. They had only added beans and carrot in it with fried rice. The service was really good and fast. Overall the place average. But if you are ambiance lover then you can visit the above places. If you are looking for taste then this place is good. Cheers!!!! The Bill came upto 1680/- for all this I felt it was bit expensive but again the food did meet my expectations.
The best restaurant in Bangalore for sea food. The menu is limited but very tasty, I have been visiting this this place since my childhood and now I am take my kids along with me to the restaurant and they love the food here.
I suggest this place if you are a seafood lover and you can try Fish Biryani.
A great local canteen style restaurant serving Mangalore cuisine in Bangalore.
I tried their Limited Special Seafood Thali, Crab Chilli, Prawn Masala and Chicken Sukka. Everything on the menu was great! I especially liked the Crab chilly which was a little sweet and hot, not overly spiced with chillies. I would also recommend trying Marwai Sukka (mussels, dry) which was not available at the time but highly recommended by my local friends.
The thali has an option of white rice or boiled rice. The local version is of course boiled rice which is brownish. I had that.
Recommend for dinner as it is located in Majestic which is very crowded during the day.
Simple unassuming place serving authentic Mangalorean style seafood.
Nothing fancy, shady building, dirty road but quality food. Went for a fish thali, seer fish - tawa fry and prawns tawa masala.
No complaints on the freshness or the taste. Thali was simple but tasty. Prawns and fish cooked to perfection.
All in all - very fulfilling experience.
Only grouse was the price. Seer fish was charged at 450?!! Pricey!!!!
Finally made it to this place. Good simple seafood. The Rava fried fishes are awesome. Their best dish is the rava fried prawns with rice+fish gravy. A must visit place for some local seafood cuisine.
I think it should be “Mangalore in Bangalore”. Nowhere else in Bangalore will you find a place that serves amazing seafood at pocket friendly prices that makes you feel like you are in your home in Mangalore savouring Mom’s cooking. Yes, this place is THAT good.
And if you are chicken lover, do try the Chilli chicken. The spiciest yummiest chilli chicken, you get here.
The ambience as such is not too fancy. It is like a small and nice fish meals hotel
This is the legendary place started around 1982 located in the hustle bustle near national market . must visit for their fresh sea food and the super yumm crab, seer fish and prawns curry .
Food : this is no doubt one of the best and oldest place for super fresh and tasty sea food. Pair their crab and prawns masala with appam or red rice. The thali seems to be much in demand option. They have biryani as well and their chicken starter was also good.
Ambience: located on first floor of a run down building in a lane with canteen type ambience . If you are coming for first time trust google maps but the whole area near national market is one way so park some where near by and walk the distance .
Service: friendly with a smile . They are really nice people and if you talk to them they will tell you that extra bit about this restaurant and its history. I saw the pride and love for this place in their eyes. Interestingly they serve food bare foot 😊.
Parking: nightmarish I will suggest again that park nearby and walk the distance.
Go there for a hearty lunch on weekend . I have visited multiple times And it's always amazing.
Absolutely love going to this place. Typical Mangalorean restaurant. You might have to wait if you reach during peak lunch time and have to share the table with others but the food is worth the wait. Very decently priced but totally yummy food. Simple ambiance - You want to eat good food? We serve good food. That's it. Nothing fancy.
Try the fish thali - a complete meal with a a fish fry and a fish curry. Very filling.
Silver fish rava fry - nice and crispy. The coating is really tasty.
Crab chilly - Spicy but can be a meal in itself for one person, so much is the quantity.
Haven't tried chicken here. So can't comment on that.
You might have to park a little way off but the walk will just help add to your appetite to gorge on some real good food.
Best place for an aromatic and delicious fish curry meal. Better than any kerala restaurants that provide the same dish. Must try the fish thali. U will ask for more.
Excellent for fish lovers..must try seafood thali with white rice,..Bangda, Silver fish. Neat and clean. Each fish variety has its own uniqueness.
This place is located close to Sapna book house at Gandhinagar. It has a bar on the right and family restaurant on the left both on first floor.
Having visited this place many a times my all time favorites are chilly chicken which is a semi gravy green in color and super spicy. Kori rotti which is tulanadu special along with chicken ghee roast are finger licking good
Next comes their special sea food thali. It includes rice ,fish curry and one special fish fry.
Vegetarians can go for chapathi rice and veg gravy.
Their prawn and bondas sukka is mouth watering although felt it is overpriced. Silver fish fry is ultimate here.
I would strongly recommend this place for sea food lovers.
Don't forget to tip the waiters and smiling security man outside.
Best Place for Seafood... specialties Fish Thali, Fish Tava Fry , Marvai Sukka & Prawn Biryani...... the above the must try item.... one thing about this place is you wont get bored of visiting there again and again... great quality & value for money... keep up the good service...
An good restaurant for fish lovers. I liked it a lot the taste was good as well as the service and the hospitality.
Everyone should try their fish thali.
I had and thali a good combination with rices.
Ambiance is typical no nonsense type you will find at old eateries. It is hygienic and spacious.
It is one place where you can find authentic fish delicacies. We ordered for special fish thali. It is sufficient for one. I would recommend to go for boiled rice instead of plain rice. It is much healthy and goes perfectly with fish. Also try prawns masala dry, it's really good!
Crab curry was just delicious ( but u need to be skilled enough to crack it open :P ) Bangda fry is what I'll say is a must have. And try the chilly chicken only if u want to transform into a fire breathing dragon ! Devesh Rajarshi

Mangalorean people love looking out for hotels that serve their type of cuisine. ALWAYS! Anyway I've been going to Fishland since I was a child and I've always been fascinated with how this small inconspicuous place is so popular. I think great taste and Quality does such things.
I love their Anjal/King Fish/Seer Fish fry (Masala and Rava). They have very delicious masala prawns too.
They serve a very satisfying Mangalorean meal complete with fish curry (gashi) and the fat rice.
Since I'm a Chicken lover I have to mention the delicious chicken ghee roast. The masala is so red and the aroma of ghee is tantalizing.
How can I forget the kori rotti and Chicken gashi? Eternal Favourites :)
This place is a must visit for people who love/swear by Coastal cuisine!
My first visit to this restaurant. Many goans had suggested this place and it was really awesome. Quality of food was good. I loved crab masala, prawns masala and limited special seafood thali. Best place for goans to have seafood.
Food - 4.5, Ambience - 4, Service - 4

I have been visiting this restaurant since the last nineties. I have been consistently eating fixed menu lunch meals as I find the combination ideal, light and healthy for lunch on a working day esp with boiled/red rice. Priority is given to cleanliness to this authentic 80's ambience and hence has survived for the last 4 decades.
Overall a must visit to Bangaloreans who love simple coastal food and it's easy on the pocket.
So I was being mocked at by friends and family(including my parents) for not eating at fishland being a foodie and a Bangalorean. This restaurant dates back to the 1980s and is pretty famous around town. Then came a big surprise. A schoolmate of mine, I've known my entire life, kinda confessed to owning the place. Family business he said. Yeah very very, coolly.
So after all the initial you serious and why didn't you tell me befores I was invited with a couple of other friends for a tour of the restaurant by my friend, me being a food enthusiast. So here's an unbiased review.
The restaurant is divided into two sections, one the authentic fishland on to your left as you enter, where you get coastal food, another, an AC seating with a bar attached. They serve variety of food, Chinese included, in the latter. Both the places are extremely extremely clean, I got to visit the kitchens (yay🙌) and the first thing that struck me was how clean the place was. Fresh fish is stored in a cold storage, locked up to preserve the freshness. Ambience wise, expect a general majestic side hotel setting with top class cleanliness.
Coming to food. Since we were the guests of the evening, we got to try(brace yourselves) prawn fry, prawn masala, kane fish fry, aloo 65, crab masala, baby corn chilli, egg masala and chicken ghee roast. Those were just the starters. For the main course we got to try apams with prawn gravy. Taste wise, typical coastal food, spiced just right. The prawn masala (starter) stood out among the sea food and I was totally in awe at the vegetarian dishes. All this and my friend's dad, the owner suggested a glass of Golconda wine, soon as he heard I drink only wine. Every single dish was so soft, well marinated and perfectly cooked. Fish thali served in the other side of the restaurant is a favorite among the afternoon lunch dishes. I got to take crab fry home since I don't eat crab(cant get myself to try it) and my mom loves crab fry. She said it was delicious. I on the other hand, would suggest trying the sea food here, rather than chicken. The attempt at chicken ghee roast was a good one, but not the authentic coastal style ghee roast. But who am I to ask for chicken at a restaurant known for sea food !! :)
Cannot comment on the price as food was on the house(yeah yeah 😀). Will I visit again? Definitely. Prawn fry ftw!
The fact that this restaurant survives for years and years with the same consistent and good word of mouth popularity itself is testimony to the quality of the food. This is one of those places where the food is the star.
Best take an auto to this place if you do not want to mess up your car. 2 wheelers should be ok. Because the main road linked to Fishland is a one way, you may find google map a bit confused. Ask any auto guy or people from that area, they can guide you.
If you are looking for good mangolorean style food in Bengaluru, this is the place. We went for Sunday lunch and ordered fish thali, veg thali, crab chilli, kaaney tawa fry, pompret tawa and mushroom chilli. Let me start with veg first, as its always bit struggle for my wifey who is vegetarian but after long time she was not disappointed with veg thali and mushroom chilli. Mushroom chilli was above par. Fish thali was limited with only one veg playa that too below avg. Kaaney tawa fry and crab chilli were must try in this small but hygiene and value for money restaurant.
One of the best experiences in Namma Bengaluru. A decent hotel, nothing glamorous wen it comes to ambience but delivers quality food with fresh sea food. Being a sea food lover and coming from a place where u get fresh fishes, this place is a home away from my home, truly a drooling affair. Prawns and Crab sukka is nearest to being Mom Made, a heavenly experience. Anjal/King fish fry is another favorite along with Chicken chilli. So far have tried only so much. Now a frequent visitor. One more plus point, being a Konkani, u get to eat Konkan food amongst the Konkanis many of them visiting since many many years.
This hotel is located in the heart of benguluru, Gandinagara, Majestic.
Not easy to locate.Ask the way to Sapna Book House to a passer by
and when you can just see Sapna Book House from a distance, again ask a passerby the way to FishLand. Its very close to Sapna Book House.
Now the building is very old, god knows when they had painted it last. But i wasn't worried as i had already read it in Zomato.
When you enter the hotel, you will heave a sigh of relief especially if you have walked all the way down from Mysore Bank Stop. The hotel is clean , nothing fancy.Menu is simple. Its just all about sea food.Me and my friend love sea food. We ordered :
Kori Roti
Kane Masala Fry
Prawn Biriyani
Crab Chilly.
Crab chilli was super hot !!!!.The taste of chilli lingered on for the next few hours till i had Mango lassi at Anand Sweets.
The place quickly filled up with people.Few were in waiting. We didn't care though. We took our own sweet time to eat the crab.Me and my friend took a good 45 minutes to finish up the crab.We thoroughly enjoyed it.We looked like tribals relishing the meat of crab.Getting the meat out of the shell was quiet an adventure. The crab meat was tender and juicy.
Kane fry was super tasty with few drops of lemon.
Kori roti was crunchy and tasty.Thumbs down for the chicken. The gravy was good though, hot and sour but chicken was bland.
Prawn biriyani was a let down. The rice was fat and tasted more like Pulav. The prawns were tender and tasted good.
If you are a sea food lover, this hotel is a must visit.Do not order chicken or biriyani.Go for fish, crab dishes which i can assure will be finger licking. You can give kori roti a try may be with fish curry.
Value for Money - 5/5
The bill summed up to 1080 which is pretty reasonable.
I have been eating here from my childhood. But nothing has changed here in 24 years. It still serves the good home like food. The fish masala fry is a must try here. If ur interested in crab then do have crab chilly. The service is very friendly and ambience is good too. It is bit crowded in the afternoon. It's a good place to have ur lunch or dinner if your nearby.
Amazing seafood place with nice homely ambience and great service. We tried a variety of dishes and they were all good! Special seafood thali, rawas fry, prawns tava fry, silver fish fry, chicken sukkha. Yumm :) highly recommended!
Undoubtedly the best place for mangalorean food at very reasonable prices. Marvai sukka, prawn masala dry and fish fry were brilliant! Even the fish meal/thali that they serve is also good and very filling!
Our go to place for lunch whenever we are in the area. Been visiting this place for the past 25-30 years. We generally order the limited Fish thali with fish curry & Bangda fry. Perfect portions and very home cooked taste, not too spicy. Also, they have maintained the same homely taste all these years. Love their kokum kadi, Tomato rasam and Buttermilk too. Quick service, and very cleanly maintained. Only downside is it’s next to impossible to find parking in the area.
Old style restaurant with very good seafood. Their Thali is really good. You can also customise it. Must visit

It's an old restaurant in Gandhinagar. Very neatly maintained and service is quick. I had the fish thali along with prawn ghee roast. The taste is good. A must visit.
Good place to visit if you love seafood. Their neerdosa and prawns curry is my favourite. Service is quick and place is quite good when it comes to hygiene. Since it’s among the old restaurants, you can come here for the experience and some good seafood too!
We had lunch at the Hotel Fishland , Gandhinagar , Bangalore.
Hotel is in the first floor , neat and clean with cabins for families and open dining hall for all.
Famous for fresh Seafood and Chicken dishes . We had
1)limited seafood thali comprising boiled rice , veg palya, rasam , pickle , glass of butter milk and Fish masala .
2) Crab Chilli masala and
3) Chicken Dum Biryani with raita and coconut fish gravy and pickle.
All the Food tasted good and homely , not over spiced , chicken well marinated cooked well in the biryani and Crab Chilli tasting its own .
Fish thali must try
Traditional taste since 40 years
No change in taste
Lots of other veg n non veg options are available
But sea food is speciality
Fishland is a restaurant I've been visiting from more than 25 years, when my parents would get me here. It started in 1982 and is probably one of the first dedicated seafood restaurants in Bangalore. The restaurant is a little tricky to find as it is on the first floor. Everyone knows the restaurant in the area, so you could ask for help from anyone.
They serve authentic Mangalorean food along with amazing seafood varieties. 🔥
I've always had the Fish Thali which comes with boiled/white rice, fish curry, a glass of buttermilk, a rassam and a solkadi.
Along with this, you can go for any seafood dish such as prawns, crab, pomfret, mackerel, silver fish, shellfish, etc. Apart from this, if you love spicy food, you got to have the extra spicy chicken chilli, which is green as a chilli and equally spicy. Every bite is hot and spicy and the little gravy at the bottom makes a great accompaniment to your rice as well! 🤤
Apart from this, another bestseller is the Prawn Ghee Roast. Every bite is juicy and full of ghee! Amazing flavor and reminds me of homemade food! Neer dosa would be a good combination with this dish. They also serve Kori Rotti which is dried rice wafers with chicken curry. Mix, eat and enjoy 😁
Service is quite fast and the staff are very attentive.
The only downside is the atmosphere, but they're trying to keep it simple and stick to their roots.
Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area 😋
Had a quick visit to this place when it was about to close but the staff was kind enough to accomodate and serve us. Stuff that we ordered were well made and enjoyed eating them. For sure have plans to visit more and try other items from the menu.
Words will be short to describe this place. We had a splendid lunch here.
Staffs are so generous and food so tasty. Will return here happily again.
They are now delivering all across Bangalore.
Hapy eating!
Great sea food, we have ordered plain rice with fish gravy and fish fry and chicken biryani, overall an great experience
Great seafood !! A place which has been famous ever since it started in the early 80s but less known due to new age malls and restaurants. A place not that flashy or large as you would expect in this fast paced flashy era , but totally worth the taste and service!!! Don’t miss to try the fry.. A quick alternate for us to save the drive to mangalore!!!
Ghee Roast prawn when asked less spicy was perfect. Good place with fresh fish in Bangalore.
Biryani nothing Special, Special Fish Thali is the Best with Rava King Fish Fry
Fish land has always been my go to place when You feel like having fish. It has looked the same for a very long time now and very simple place and no jazzy interiors etc. very clean and hygienic and well maintained. The staff too are clean and well dressed with the right etiquette.
The sea food here is one of the best in Bangalore in the mid segment. Service is quick and everything is served hot. The fish is always fresh and can be eaten without any suspicion of its freshness.
Toilets and hand wash are neat.
Parking in the area is minimal. I usually park in the multi level car parking opposite Pothy’s who charge about Rs.30 for an hour and this is the best option.
They have started home delivery as well. You can give it a try.
This place is a must visit place for sea food lovers while at Bangalore.
Quick service and old charm restaurant.
Kokum juice served with thali is a must try
