Dialogue in the dark has been by far the most memorable and unique experience of my and anyone's life, of course except those who couldn't endure the their phobia for dark.

They ask not to reveal much about the place and let it be a surprise for one and all , so not going into much details.
They tell and explain the reason for such a concept at the end of the whole experience and the place surely conveys the message as desired.

I have been to the place twice and already being a silent promoter for the place as I have lined up plenty of my friends to dine at this restaurant so they could experience the same.
I have tried non veg platter and found it really really good. However can't really tell or make out what all I had in the platter due to obvious pitch dark reasons.

Serving sanitiser and finger bowl reveals professionalism and planning.

The waiteresses remember your name and so do you theirs.
I have witnessed people who couldn't stay and leave out of fear, men especially. Still it's a great experience and definitely worth a shot for everyone, not children.
And yeah, they play amazing music.

It was a special occasion and randomly we decided on the place. I had read all about the place sometime back but when the time came, the experience was so overwhelming that all that was read was forgotten. The place is set in absolute darkness. And by that, I don't mean a bluish white light coming from the heavens that represent darkness as shown in our movies. It was PITCH DARK! Infact you would start to feel after a while that your eyes (because of mere biology of the eyes) would start to adjust to the darkness and you would be able to see around, but that's just an illusion. You don't see A THING till you come out of it.
We were quite surprised when every staff present could so smoothly wander through the darkness, even though they had months of practice, how is that possible that they didn't falter once in a while?
At the end, when we were being guided back to the exit, is when we finally saw, something that we already knew but had completely forgotten, that the waiters were all visually impaired. It was quite jolly to see them enjoy all their customers go through the same experience as they do every day.
Frankly I don't remember much about the food (or the interiors :P ) but it wasn't bad am sure.
Give it a try, just to live the life of such people for an hour or so.

It doesn't matter whether you see your food or not. It it surely matters about the experience you have here. This place is totally run by visually impaired people and it seriously didn't matter to me when I entered this place. It's a whole new world because we do realize after having at this place that how hard they work and the struggle is for real! I just couldn't fathom the fact that people do exist without seeing the light even for a second. It's a new experience if you wish for it. If not then you may not go there because there's not even an ounce of light here and some may freak out here!

Food-3/5 : Veg Food included grilled starters, dal, naan, salad, rice, ice cream.
Service-5/5 : OMG!! The people out there are so humble and sweet. They take care of each and every tiny thing as it might be the first time experience for most of us.
Ambiance- wonderful peace : You realize there is a world other than what we see from our eyes. You tend to use your other senses.
Recommendation- 4.5/5 :Do not go for food,go for the "To be remembered experience"
Preferably go in a group because they take you to the games zone, canteen, place where they make you test your other senses. You can feel the way they live their life and how they do daily chores.

A pitch black dark restaurant. You have to eat in this darkness, taste this darkness. Make all your other sensory organs work magic. We had fun trying to find walking to the table, finding what's in the plate, trying to find out the flavor of ice cream basis the taste and aroma.
Brilliant experience. Must visit place.

Do you know what it feels like to eat in pitch black?

You'll not know until you eat here. You will be surprised with yourself as to how you respond to total darkness and you discover new little things along the way. Like the value of team work and the importance of communication.

If you do have the chops to go through the whole ordeal, I dare you not to come out dumbfounded!

It is highly recommended and completely unique.

Coming straight to the food…

We were four of us and all of us had opted their Veg set menu.

The food was very good – All of us had more or less the same feedback about the food. The starters and mains were served together and the dessert was served as a separate course! Bottled water was served alongside.

Starters were the best of the lot - There were grilled vegetables and some kebab sorts for the starters. For the mains, it was the Veg Biryani with raitha, Roti with paneer gravy, some other curry along with salad. The dessert – Oh well... let’s keep at least one thing to be a suspense considering this location has a different experience to provide altogether... (lol – It was good nonetheless!).

Everything we ate was well done and the portion sizes were very good.

Moolah: Rs.500 per taxes for veg

Pros: Good food, substantial quantity, unique experience, very friendly and helpful serving staff and operating staff, comfortable seating.

Recommended – Experience this meal in the dark activity to activate your other senses while the vision sense is switched off!

A pitch black dark restaurant where you have to make use of your other senses.
Guides will help you to find your way inside the restaurant, but you have to use your senses to guess what are you eating. Concept is amazing and food is great.

Pitch dark, but you can make use of your other senses to good effect. You might get a light headache as you are applying more pressure and strain to your eyes but it is totally worth it as the food served is good, be it veg/non veg starter platter. Well behaved staff and good hospitality.

My long awaited wish came true when I visited Dialog in the Dark few days back and it was absolutely worth the wait. I was awestruck by the intense darkness, in which it made no difference to keep your eyes open or closed, it was all the same. Go on the exhibition tour is a must try, which is a priceless and inexplicable experience.  To talk about the food there, you don't bother about it much, when your surroundings are so amazing.  The staff there is blind, but they are so well trained that their guidance will make you feel that they are able to see. The place is all about the experience. I feel everyone should pay a visit there at least once and you won't regret it. :)

It scores high on the experience, less on the food. But trust me when I say this experience is very different. Pitch dark inside. Still wonder how did they make it such dark.
Ordered a veg platter. It was good. But it was the experience that stumped me. Completely in awe of the same. And how accurate these people serve you will stump you for sure.
Go there to have the experience. Go there to have food in the dark. And most importantly go there to have a Dialogue in the Dark.

It was experience of lifetime. I took my wife here for our 10th anniv lunch just to ensure we remember the day year and place for a long time... She was excited about the experience. Because of darkness we held on hands all the time we were there. We had no technology or neighbours to see so it was time worth spent

The reason I rate little low is because of food and hygiene. Given we are eating in dark I expected them at least to give us napkins to ensure we don't drop good food on us in dark. Food quality need to improve

Otherwise great experience worth having... keep it up

Foremost this is about experience than food. In that perspective, it is indeed unique & well designed. It is really pitch dark. Must experience.

But then it is also about food. Food is fine, not great. It is a preset menu served in a single serving. Had they paced the meals in various courses (starters, main food, dessert), would have been even better experience.

But biggest disappointment was the hygiene factor. The initial set of trays were stinking. Perhaps cleaned using bad cloth. Changed on complaining. Being dark, trust is a big factor here. They cannot be lax on this.

Food was average tasting.

Only for the one time experience!!!

Dont expect to have a great time unless you enjoy the darkness (not like the darkness when no power, the actual darkness). They have fixed thali menu, not good not bad. I prefer to see the food while eating. As we cannot see anything everyone makes a lot of noise and that was a chaos. Cost is for the darkness not for the food.

Overall: You can visit the place to have a one time experience and if you need a break from regular dineout.

Wonderful experience! The food is tasty and the staff is very courteous. I will talk about the food first. We were given plates with compartments. We opted for a complete meal, which included starters, main course and dessert. There is also an option to choose a starter platter. We had a slice of Paneer Tikka, a floret of cauliflower which was actually tandoori gobhi, and Hara bhara kabab. All three starters were tasty. We had a salad, raita, rice, one naan and one chapati as well. The curry was really tasty, it tasted like daal makahani but actually it was Masood methi.

Speaking about the experience, we had to submit our cell phones in the locker before entering the place ( It is totally safe). Then we were escorted inside. It is pitch dark inside, with light music playing. I also heard the sound of a waterfall.
We were in a group so we were asked to hold each other and stand in a line. Then we were slowly taken to our seat. It feels a little discomforting initially, but then I would seem to enjoy it. All the more, becz a sense of gratitude started seeping in and felt thankful that we are blessed with eyesight. It is a great opportunity to understand how humans at times can cope and adapt to situations. We had to eat using our hands as we didn't know where our spoon is going. It was a great experience.

We were certain that the staff inside has night vision goggles! In the end when we came to know that they are all visually challenged, we were taken aback. Hats off to the concept and the staff!

Writing a review for this place is like spilling out the beans for the unique experience that this restaurant offers. When I say it is one of a kind experience, then I mean it to the last letter of it as you are assisted to your table in pitch darkness without a hint of light. You will definitely feel how your other senses become heightened once you are devoid of one. You tend to make friends at a place like this for sure.

I will not reveal anything about the food here but would just like to say that the starter platter was pretty filling and tasted pretty desi, so very much complying to the generic Indian taste buds.

One does get to gain some perspective about the life without the gift of sight and wonders about the hardships faced by the visually impaired and how they make darkness a strength rather than some weakness in their lives and this belief just gets even more solidified when the person assisting you to the exit gate is revealed to be visually impaired and informs all the visitors that the entire staff is the same.

Do visit their website to know more about DID.

This is a must-visit restaurant for all the Bangaloreans as this restaurant has branches only in Hyderabad and Chennai other than this.

Would have given 5 stars had the food been a little better. It's a bit overpriced is what I felt. That said, this restaurant is by far the most wonderful and unique places I ever visited.
The staff inside deserve a special mention and may be even an award for their courteousness and quality of service (You will figure out why, once you come out of the place).
The concept is borrowed from a German restaurant which was the first in the world to apparently experiment with the 'Dine in the dark' concept (this is what the staff inside told us, however, the actual Dine in the Dark restaurant originated in Switzerland).
You basically feel a little Phobic as soon as you enter because it is pitch dark inside. You open or close your eyes and it doesn't make any difference. It is that dark.  But do manage to get thru' the initial five mts and you are in for a memorable experience. Don't expect too much on the spread or the taste (it's average)

There are 2 options for food appetizer only or the full meal. If you are going for the first time just for the experience, I would recommend that you go for the appetizer platter instead of the full meal. You will have to deposit your phone in a locker before u enter and a blind person guides you to your table the place is completely dark you will have to search for your food, we went for the appetizer platter which was really good in taste the staff was also very friendly. Would definitely recommend it.

I have rated the place 4 just for the experience and not the food. Food was really expensive.

If you wanna go to this place then go for experience not for food. Food is average quality but the experience is something different. you enter a pitch black room  holding hands of a waitress (who are blind) and you are guided to your seat. There you will be served food and you have to eat by just feeling . You can't see anything. For an hour you will have a peek in blind people life . It will be a nice experience. Listening to your surrounding people talking and all. Food is average . If you are a foodie then you will find this place not so good with the amount of money you spend . The concept of dining in darkness, pitch black darkness is something which sounds bizarre but this concept is quite old which started in the year 1999. Although I don't think I've ever heard of one ever. This concept aims at enhancing the use of other senses and also making people realise how important vision is.

Dialogue In The Dark has executed the concept really really well. I visited this place with a few friends after hearing a lot about it. You can't carry any light emitting object inside and it is pitch black inside. It is a little scary but the experience is out of the world. The food however wasn't up to the mark. We tried the non veg and veg platter. The paneer tasted bad, it wasn't as soft as it is supposed to be. The chicken also wasn't marinated well enough. The chicken wings was so-so. The food overall was average. There is one more thing about this place which they ask not to disclose to others who are first timers and I don't want to spoil their element of surprise so I won't say anything about it.

Overall I'd recommend this place for the unique concept they have. Nothing great about the food. Can do much better if they work on the food they serve. Had a good time.

This was something I never thought I could survive!!! But I did and I felt victorious...
The experience is scary for people like me who are generally always scared with one thing or another but after the initial few minutes(which seemed like an hour) I actually started enjoying it...

It is good to know that even when one of my important sense of vision is blocked, I can rely on my other senses of hearing, taste and smell to enjoy a great meal and a great dinner ! Glad that I did it, highly recommended for everybody as this is a one of a kind experience and at the end you will find yourself in wonder because of a small twist....

Highly recommended just because of the experience!!!!

There are so many positives that I took from this experience, firstly, it was how you adapt and try to use your other senses to eat the food that you eat daily.
It involved so much concentration that one wouldn't even bother in our day to day lives.
Other distracting elements like cell phones, bags and watches were kept outside in a safe to keep the place away from light.
The only source of light was the CCTV camera inside.
The food was pretty decent in terms of the quality.
Service-10/10
There is a twist in the end, so brace yourself for that (I would not like to spoil that, like many other stupid bloggers do)

This place grabbed my attention long time back solely due to its concept and trust me its worth a shot. It is also featured in the list of top 25 things which you should definitely try in your life.
I have been past this place on numerous occasions but never got the opportunity to visit it until a friend of mine who was equally interested planned a lunch along with some shopping in phoenix mall.
You are supposed to leave your cell phones and any light emitting items outside before you enter. Also you need to select your food before you get lost in the world of darkness.
The moment we entered the place it was like a entering into a new universe which is absolutely pitch dark and your eyes are of no use. A staff held our hands and accompanied us to our place. Soon the food was served and with no clue what it was we started our lunch. Meanwhile we could hear the voices of other people who were equally awestruck by the place and trying to get used to the darkness. The staff was extremely humble and FYI all the staff here are blind people. They were cracking some jokes and singing along with the other people. Finally after 40 odd minutes we finished our lunch and were again guided back to the exit into the real world which we see everyday. A beautiful concept created to make us see the world from the eyes of a blind person and what they undergo every day.

*Disclaimer: This rating is purely for the experience and not the food.

An experience one could never forget. The menu is limited including a veg / non-veg starter platter and a veg / non-veg smart pop meal. You need to make your choice of meal before you enter the restaurant. They do not disclose the food items and you are supposed to use your senses to feel, identify and eat the same. With a lot of curiosity built before entering the restaurant, I sensed a mixed feeling of anxiousness and excitement. We were asked to put all light emitting objects in a locker and keep our hands free. As we entered in a single straight line, there was our escort - Javed, guiding us through the pitch dark room to our table. Without disclosing much about it, I would just want to say if you visit Bangalore, you MUST visit this place purely for an experience that would give you goose bumps. Kudos to Javed, Janki and all the other staff who works here! Great concept and amazing work!

As we were putting all our belongings like phone, wallet, watches, etc. inside the locker there wavered a hint of reluctance in our minds.Did we sign up for a great experience or had we fallen for some publicity gimmick associated with the concept.

I set my foot in the pitch dark environs carefully while my friend kept both her hands over my shoulder, following me blindly (quite literally). Then, a guide held both my hands and ushered us to the dining space. We told him to walk slowly just in case there are stairs; to which our escort ensured that there is none (our 1st & last frantic moment of yesterday's great experience). Finally, we could smell food and sense a chair and a table with our bare hands. Both of us were given sanitiser .

FOOD: We had
selected "Smart Pop's Non-veg platter" and when we were served, I asked for the content. The waiter asked us to eat and identify them, though he did tell us the orientation of our platter and location of different food items on it. Initially, we tried to have the food with the cutlery provided by them (NO KNIVES) but we gave up on it. We literally enjoyed pawing over our food and eating it consciously. Our total focus was on the food (partly because we were extremely hungry post our shopping spree) . As much I would love to reveal the menu, but I wouldn't cause it would spoil the surprise. THOUGH, there is not much of a surprise when it comes to food (basic Biryani,Raita ,Roti, chutney, Starters etc.). The food is tasty and served hot with a lot of care and warmth that can be felt even in DARKNESS.Since, we were devoid of all gadgets my friend and I had a heart pouring conversation(COUNTLESS DIALOGUES IN THE DARK;-)).The only disappointments were:-
Starters and main course are served together
Dessert was adequate, but not great cause I'm a "sweets' person" with sweeter dispositions ;-)

SURPRISE:The entire time we were intrigued by the fact, how were the servers were able to move so comfortably and respond accurately to our beck n call when we ourselves couldn't see each other's hand in the pitch blackness. We come to a conclusion that they were using some "Infra-red heat mapping" goggles/military purpose night vision specs.
In the end,  when we were done and again escorted back to the pavilion and asked him the mystery behind such "SUPERHEROISC ABILITY"; we got a reply which left us spellbound, quite literally.....

PS:I would have anyway given a 5/5 cause of such a wonderful eye-opening experience, but when it comes to food( after all it's a restaurant ) there exists a scope of improvement. Don't take me otherwise, the food here is delicious, sumptuous, hot and served with a lot of affection!!!

Finally I got to visit this place, must say its a unique experience. You dont know what you are upto, what are you eating. You got to use your other senses to guess what you are eating.

Food: Food is decent, quantity is on lower side

Service: Very prompt ,one of a kind

Ambiance: Pitch dark but eye opening

Value for money: More than the food, its the experience that you are paying for. Hence its worth it :)

Just Marvellous, one of a kind restaurant. Hats off to the theme. Oh..it was complete dark. Difficult to express the feeling, it can only be experienced. We had starters platter, which was good. The fun part was stealing food from your neighbors plate. We kept singing song :P. We kept asking for the spectacles during the course of our meal. But we were dumbstruck as soon as we came out of the place. I wish no one would ever wear that spectacles. I don't want to reveal anything, but it's a unique experience, please do visit.

It is a great experience, the food is not that bad. I'm not sure if we can stay in there for longer, hence better to just have the starters package. The staff is really polite and helpful. You will feel lil off in the beginning but it's worth the experience. I'm not sure if I'd go again for fun or food.

An eye-opening experience in the darkest of places !

Had been with friends and although we were mentally prepared for the dark dining experience, we felt scared when we entered the darkness. Our guides helped us reach the dining table and got us seated. They made us aware of location of our plates and the food that was served on the plates. They also helped us with locating water bottles, tissue papers etc. We had a good conversation with our guides while having food.

All the while I had been wondering if someone with infrared / night-vision glasses would be serving us with this precision without visibility. We finally met out guides and were shocked to find that they were visually impaired. It then struck that our worlds had changed upside down in a couple of minutes when we came out, and that our very able guides felt like being in the dark the whole time.

Definitely recommended the experience.

First time i am giving 5 stars to any place. Only reason is the concept and what these people (ACE) are trying to do.

The experience was amazing. The whole time we kept guessing how the servers were able to see n what are they serving us. I double verified if the food served was veg. N with my friend stealing roti's from my plate :P it was a fun :)

I didn't expect much from the food but to our surprise it was good. Dessert we couldn't guess what it was but didn't liked it much.

Service is very good and the staff were very polite and good to talk to. We thought they were wearing some night vision glasses based on how these people can guide you to ur tables and serve food in pitch blackness. Only lights we could see was from cctv camera's. They were not wearing glasses and i checked :P :|

I would urge people to visit this place, to experience a totally different world. Make sure you reserve your table in advance as there is a huge queue.

Very unique experience of eating. The beauty of the experience is manifold as you experience the textures, taste and flavours while completely not able to catch a glimpse of what you eat. It's interesting, unusual and not for everyone. I personally think it's definitely a must- go

Darkness. Pitch black. Dark. These were words till I went to Dialogue In the Dark today for dinner. Never in my life I had imagined that such darkness, with absolutely no iota of light exists, let alone me feeling it. I vaguely knew about the concept but guess in my mind had thought that atleast *something* would be visible. Nothing. As I entered I panicked a bit but slowly settled now. My eyes were straining against the darkness and every sound was more pronounced. The food was decent and the portions reasonably well. The dessert was yum. But nobody remembers the food here, really. You remember what you felt and how there are millions of people living with this darkness every minute of their life. At once a humbling and scary thought. My favourite thing about the visit though was knowing that visually challenged people could do well in hospitality too :)Ajay Thambi Don't miss this experience.

One of the best restaurants in the city!

You enter into this pitch dark world, pitch dark I mean, like the pitch dark!!!!You can't see even a dot of light anywhere!

When I was being served,my only thoughts were what if I was served non-veg instead of veg😳But then I asked my friend to taste it first and then tell me! Cool I got a veg platter!

Then it got me thinking, how these waiters manage serving or taking ppl to the right table and to my surprise they even remember our names which was told just once!

I always wanted to asked them, how they would remember tables and chairs are placed in this fashion! But on coming out of the restaurant,I had all my questions, answered on just seeing the waiters! And I come out with tears!!! Man they are just incredible!

I m not gonna reveal how or who those waiters are!Its an experience you have to go through! So visit Dialogue in the dark and you'll know what I am talking about!

Happy dining!!!

Superb concept to make us realise the power of the other four senses which we generally don't focus on and to make us understand the power of eyesight. How blind ppl manage to live their life is wat I learnt in that plc. Tasty food, awesome experience, cheers to the team's effort.

This is an amazing experience. In a lot of ways was an humbling experience as well. We ignore the gift of sight and going through this, makes one realize the same and value it more. Salute those with sight issues and how they manage their life. Would recommend this to everyone and please make sure you bring your kids along so that value the gift of life. Shout out to Muzamul for an excellent guided tour.
