Tried out the chatti choru for delivery from here, since that dish is quite the rage these days and wasn't disappointed a bit with my decision. The chatti choru came in a plastic box with all the contents of the chatti minus the same, for obvious reasons and it was as good as I expected it to be,if not more. The portion was huuge and it had rice,all the standard gravies including kaalan, dried beef and beef roast etc. Taste was superb and had the proper earthly flavor of the actual chatti choru, or what it is supposed to be. Absolutely no complaints and will be definitely trying out again. Though a tad bit expensive,for the contents,it is well worth it.
Of course the best kerala food ever i had in bangalore is the chattichoru from shaap. It was a mix of rice mixed with fishcurry gravy prepared with kudampoli in traditional kerala meenchatty and pulissery chammanthy acharu and beef with papadam. Evryone must try i say worth the money. Ordered once addicted to it. Biriyani was just good made up of big rice (basmati) rather than small jeera rice. Erachy fry was delicious but quantity is very less
I went in with zero expectations as with every restaurant in Indiranagar. . But Shaap was such a pleasant surprise.
I settled for the Veg meal and my partner ordered the fish meal. It was fantastic. Even better than my regular mallu joint. The red chutney was delectable. Opens up your palate to the rest of the dishes.
We also tried the soya shaap style. 10/10

I have tried the egg appam with stew, the Polikatthu Biryani and the chicken Kothu Paratha and all the items tasted awesome :)
The Biryani was a perfect balance of spices, I fell in love with this particular form of Biryani. But what really store the show was the Kotthu paratha. It was soft and bursting with layers of flavors of spices. The chicken was tender and juicy. What I loved more was that the chicken was not boneless.
The shaap cuisine was a first try for me and really impressed me.
Please visit this place if you want to venture into some really good Kerala cuisine.

I liked the ullarthiyadu, prawns roast, puttu beef and liver fry. The chicken chatti chor included boiled rice gravy, pickles and a phenomenal chutney made with red chilli, tamarind and salt. The puttu was lovely. Moist and had flavors of the beef. The beef itself was melt in the mouth. Brilliant stuff and stuffed !
This is old world Kerala food done properly. Never visited the outlet so no idea about service. But the kappa meen curry they delivered at home was simply outstanding. Loved the simplicity of the food. No added masala or oil. Waiting to try some more dishes đđ

The last time here, I was disappointed with the slow service but I honestly am surprised with the quality of the kappa biryani I ordered. Beautifully cooked tapioca and beef in a perfect combination. Generous quantity and an authentic Kerala flavor. Netholi fry was too good. Definitely a must try place for Kerala food.
It is definitely not easy on the pocket but you get the proper Kerala taste on your tongue.
Don't even waste your energy trying any other outlet if a Pothichiru with the greatest pothirachi is your thing! A very decent spread of side dishes along with sufficient quantity of meat, this makes for a pretty happy meal at pocket friendly rates.
The interior is really cool and the staff pretty courteous too. We tried the pothu fry, roast and the chicken coconut fry. Everything was really good and infact, my colleague went back to Mumbai insisting he will be coming back every time in town!

Yummy tummy lovers...:) amazing shaap style food. Food preparation is variety. Most of the items in menu are unique. We ordered chathi choru in which pullishery, fish curry, mango pickle, erachi fry,papadam and rice was mixed and served in chatti and taste was very different. Malabar parathas and beef pollichathe in banana leaf which was very delicious and unique in taste. Ambience is fine. Black tea is awesome.

Go here if you are looking for good Malayali food in Indiranagar. It's decently priced compared to it's competitors in the area. It gives a Kerala thattukada feel and kal shaap ambience.
Pothi choru and sambharam is a must try. Parota and chicken curry is another good option here. Generally, very delicious food.

Great food at really affordable prices! I had my first meal in Bangalore at The Shaap and I would definitely be returning soon. The rice and chicken dish in the picture (I really donât remember the name) had a lot of layers of flavours and was amazing!
Mallu granting five start to a Mallu place away from Kerala is indeed is super not happening. But this place just commits well to its name. Legit shaap (toddy parlour) style food which is hot and super spicy. My favourite is always the kappa and kanji which they serve authentically. Iâm sorry for my vegetarian friends as there are like no options for you guys so better stay away. And why I stole one star away from five star is because of two deals - one the menu is pretty expensive for the whole deal and second for the super long serving time.

Shaap locates itself a little away from the 100ft rd in Indiranagar. Known for its authentic Kerala food, the place serves all the well known dishes and also a small variety of their own. I tried this beef puttu and really liked it.

Actually 5 stars for the food and taste but the oil used is refined and salt is table salt, so given 4 stars. The fish fry and chilly chicken roast is so delicious. The banana jaggery desert was also good.
Good place to have some nice Kerala food. Friendly and casual setting. You get beef, and good beef. You get good tea, Kerala sweetmeats. Also, try their pothichoru, it is good; you get egg, chicken, fish and beef 'Pothi choru'.

One of our favourite places to grab some kerala Food. Its a small space but the walls are filled with special paintings and a massive black board with all the items listed. Be it the naadan pothichor or the famous porotta-beef combination or the mouth watering Kappa and chamanthi this is the place to be. Missing home food - Try Shaap.

Friendly neighbourhood joint for regular and non regular Kerala khana. Affordable too. They run out of dishes, though (because of popularity, I assume), so be prepared with fall back options.
Exterior looks resembles to a toddy shop in kerala, even the name. Their menu was really confusing and after a long go through, decided to take pothi choru.
Ordered for the particular dish and was waiting enjoying the ambience and the paintings etc.. inside.
it was pretty comfy inside. The staffs were north i Indians, wondered whether how could this people prepare south indian spicy dishes. Later came to know, chefs were mallus.
After like 10 mins, i got my dish on the table. It was mouthwatery seeing the pothichoru and its side dishes. Started tasting it with the fish curry, which was spicy as we have it in kerala. After a long time got the real curry taste with coconut flavour on it.

Shaap is a perfect choice to go to when you miss home and naadan food. The ambience set up like a naadan Kerala shaap adds to the feel. Their Fish fry pothichoru is worth trying. The variety of curries available in this single item is mind blowing and their taste is yummalicious! Though the food is costly, it is worth the price. Tried their prawns roast which was too spicy. The cool and spicy sambharam served in a mud glass is a good thirst killer.
When you actually miss your Naadan food stuffs this is the place to head.

Me and my friend visited this place after a good review from a friend who visited kormangala branch of Shaap. And on visiting, we were definitely not dissapointed! Though we wished, they served mutton. Otherwise service and food both were good. Ambience brought shaap memories from many Malayalam movies, so thumbs up on that also.
We tried Tapioca fry (Kappa fry), Appam and Parota with Chicken curry and Chicken biryani. In my opinion everything we tried could be rated between 3.5 to 4.0

Nice authentic kerala food joint, I tried the kappa biryani and beef fry. The food is simple and tasty. The pazhampori ( the riped banana fritters ) is served hot and crisp. Do try their neera( the non-alcoholic toddy) which is served in a small earthen bottle.
My love for authentic Kerala food never ends..the ambience is exactly like a "nadan shaap"..we ordered chicken biriyani, porotta and malabari chicken curry, kattan kaapi and lime juice..the food was "yummmm" we were totally happy with the foodđ make sure to visit this place if you are craving for authentic Kerala food!!
Full disclosure â we visited Shaap quite some time ago, and this review has been pending for awhile. That being said, the experience we had was quite good. Pretty much all the dishes were good, and being from Kerala, I can tell you that it met my expectations. The standout dish was the pothi choru, which is a good touch to bring about the âshaapâ feel. That being said, even the other dishes we had were good. All in all, was a good experience.
And for the other stuff that matters:
Price â decent.
Location â Doopanahalli Indiranagar, not too difficult to locate but car parking could be an issue.
Ambience â functional with added touches like old Malayalam songs, ânaadan shaapâ style decor.
Service â decent.
Value for money â yes.
On the whole, worth a try for Kerala cuisine. Both veg and non-veg items were good.
Its an awesome place to go for authentic kerala food. I can never have enough of their parota and egg roast. Try their podhi chor which is a travelling spl in kerala where everything is put together and tied in banana leaf. Shaap like ambience đ. Coupd get a little extra crowded during lunch time but worth the wait
Maybe it's because it was a while since I had Kerala food, but I definitely loved it! Had prawns, chicken, beef with parotta, appam and ghee rice. Was delicious. Had three rounds of Sulaimani as well. The ambiance isn't great or anything, but for the price, it's fine. The food makes up for it.

Ordered Chicken malabari curry, Allepy chicken curry, Chilli chicken and Kerala porota via a food delivery app. The delivery was quick. Chicken malabari & Allepy chicken curry was truely authentic kerala style curry spiced with pepper pods and green chilly, a bit hot for the palate akin to typical shaap curry . Must visit if you like authentic spicy Kerala cuisine.

This place is tucked away from the busy 100 ft road. All the tables were filled on a saturday afternoon . We ordered a kappa mulagu which I was expecting to be a pepper fry kinda thing but i was wrong. It was kappa with green chill masala kind of thing which was damn spicy and tasted very good . Egg pothichoru was happiness in a packet . Parotta was soft . Egg curry was my favourite here. How can I leave without having a sulaimani ?Sweet toddy you can give it a skip.

Ordered online for kappa biryani and duck roast, Kappa biryani was excellent and packing was good but Duck roast was a total disaster since it tasted too much tamarind.
I had ordered porotta, erachi roast and chicken fry. The porotta was really good. The beef was quite chewy and I didn't like it. The gravy was good enough. Chicken fry was again average, had a kind of dry taste to it. I found the price for chicken fry to be too high for the quantity they serve( 3 pieces ).
Ambience wise, they have photos pertaining to malayalam comics on all the walls which gives the naadan 'shaap' feel :)
Since I've had real authentic Kerala dishes, I dint feel this place, a great one. Went there at 2 pm and most of the dishes were over. Delay in service. Fish curry was good spicy. Beef too was ok. Kallumakai was ok. Kappa(tapioca) was half cooked and with no salt. Parotta was too crispy n not tasty.

A very good place to have authentic Kerala food in Indiranagar Bangalore. This place is located in 13th Main Indiranagar. The ambiance design is like the traditional Kerala "shaap" ( toddy place ) and it's pretty decent. I did like the food but felt that the food is very spicy. The price is also average and the quality is good. The cleanliness and service is also good compared to other Kerala food places.
True to its name, it's the quintessential mallu hangout place when we need some mallu grub in our tum. Their Irachi Pothichor is my all time favourite, with the rice and curries wrapped up in a banana leaf. Their plantain snacks are an ideal dessert option right after a meal. Definitely order the Neera(tender coconut drink) to go along with the food.

Typical shaap (toddy shop) food, but without alcohol. Average ambiance, kind of kerala shaap. Food really taste good. I tried prawns chattichor and pazham nirachath. Chattichor is one of the must try and worth every penny. The filling inside pazha nirachath was less and it costs 100 rupees which is slightly high. Overall good and tasty food with average ambiance. A small Kerala-style restaurant with tasty and authentic Malayali food. We had Chicken kothu porotta and Seafood chatti choru, both of which were good. The beautiful and funny artwork on the walls gives it a very Malayali feel.
Had porotaa, appam, chicken curry and pazhampori from this restaurant. Evwrything except pazhampori tasted very well. Its on the expensive side. Pazhampori which costed around 60-70rs for 2 pieces was really not up to the mark.

Nothing to say. Authentic Kerala food at its best. Should definitely try 'chatti choru' which is basically a cocktail of all the most loved Kerala delicacies in an earthen pot. Eat all the fish you can if you miss Kerala style cooking. Located conveniently at a main road and there is enough parking space on the road. Take your non malayali friends and introduce them to the spicy cuisine.
