Visited this place a couple of times on my frequent travels to bangalore. it's my goto fix for Thai food. The place has consistently served us great food. One must try their lunch and dinner menus which include Thai curries, noodle bowls, grilled meats, soups and salads. My all time favourite is the Bangkok meal bowl and the curried noodle bowl. But I think I might have exhausted everything on this menu for the number of times I have visited this place. Siam definitely caters to super authentic Thai food lovers.
The food is amazingly yum.. probably the best Thai food in Bangalore.. my 2nd visit yesterday and I am glad I decided on Siam to make my wedding anniversary more special with their service. Their service is extremely hospitable. I ve tried only vegetarian food here which is mouthwateringly delicious!! From their tofu and mushroom starters to the traditional red and green curries and the tender coconut souffle.. everything is perfect!! Thank You for an amazing experience yesterday!
The name, the decor, the food everything about this place is unique and completely worth checking out,the service is exemplary, I wanted a cocktail minus any sugar and they made it.
Loved the green papaya salad and the river noodles
Recommended surely
Fantastic authentic Thai food. The service is courteous and the staff is knowledgeable in guiding you on what to choose from the exhaustive menu. The ambience is spot on and we had such a relaxing weekday lunch. Can't wait to go back and try more dishes!
Hands down, Siam is one of my favorite restaurants in town. Been here about 7-8 times and the food is always impressive. It's also authentic Thai, which can be hard to find in Bangalore. Ambience is lovely and tasteful. The place is usually quiet on weekdays but the crowds come in on weekend nights, largely due to their musical nights. The ‘One Night in Bangkok’ effect. Although the music can get a bit loud, it really doesn’t matter because they play a really good selection of upbeat classic songs.
Sad to hear that Siam is closing down but they have a new Pan-Asian venture planned, which should be equally exciting. Hope you guys retain many of the dishes from your menu - specifically the Pad Thai with peanuts, Crispy Fish, Stir-Fry Basil Chicken, Red Curry with Rice and Chicken Satay.
Looking forward to the new restaurant, good luck.
Small & cozy restaurant, with tastefully done ambience. This is a good destination for thai food lovers. Veg dumplings, veg steamed bun, bangkok rice bowl were all good. The hot sauce that came with the dumplings was the best dip I've ever had (flavours of lemon grass, basil, chilis in a sauce where the ingredients could still be seen instead of being mashed to a pulp - loved the texture). The attendants were easily available and helpful. It was a bit warm where I sat, and I had to ask for AC to be turned on. The choice of seating was restricted by the manager (we were allowed to take a 4-seater in a corner but not in another place) - that wasn't cool.
A special mention to the ambience of this place, feels really authentic. We went on a Friday night and the DJ was playing some really cool classics which eventually lead everyone to groove on the dance floor! The service in terms of food is really slow but the waiter is ready to help in every possible way. Their menu has changed so couldn’t match everything that is available online.
As for the food, we had ordered:
Starters:
Fried lotus stem: okay, could’ve been crispier, could taste cornflour towards the end, should be served with some sauce
Thai veg dumplings : great, and the dip that came along was super good! Asked for an extra helping
Fried corn kernels: simple yet really good
Spicy prawns: very spicy but good, good presentation
Thai veg spring rolls: good
Main course:
Pad thai (tofu): I’ve never had sweet pad thai, this dish wasn’t really impressive
Smoked meat rice bowl served with eggs: great, must order
Veg dumplings soup bowl: simple yet delicious
Fried noodles with black bean sauce veggies: I’d consider this their best dish among the ones we ordered
Desserts:
Coconut pudding custard: good
Drinks: (their presentation is good with exotic flowers floating on your drinks)
Muay thai punch: okay
Pattaya martini: okay
Basil sangria: okay
Blushing dragon: good
Somehow felt like their cocktails weren’t flavourful nor strong enough, tasted diluted
Overall the experience was good, some of their saved the others. I would recommend the place to give it a go.
Went for lunch...a perfect place for Thai, pan Asian.. the painting the decor everything reminds authenticity of the place...not a very crowdy place but decent amount of guest..sitting arrangements are good..
Coming to the food.we ordered pork belly fried rice, smoked pork fried rice and pork dry noodles...every dishes are unique..perfect blend of flavours...soothing effect for the tastebuds...delicious food...
Service is lil slow...will appreciate if the service is lil more faster...prices are bit on higher side...will really like to try more dishes further...overall nice experience..
Good but small Asian place. Perfect for casual lunch/dinner events. The food here is authentic Asian and mouth watering. Tried some of their non veg courses and they were really tasty. Stir fried chicken was really amazing. Pork and chicken buns were good too. Although they were a bit thick. Tried their ramen bowl and flat noodles they were really good too. This place is value for money. They have calm and refreshing ambience.
Went there for a Sunday lunch. I liked the Thai red curry with sticky rice and the curried noodle bowl - chose the vegetarian options. The portions were good too.
Authentic and tasty Thai food. Loved it!
The ambience complements the food, and the service is super prompt. Would definitely recommend it to folks who want a southeast Asian culinary experience.
Had been here for lunch. It was not crowded and we preferred to sit in the more lighted area. The staff is courteous and food is yum. Tried street hawker pork and I just loved it. Drunken Chicken was ok..I expected more. They have increased the prices and hence it is heavier on the pocket. Overall I would recommend you to try this place if you like to have good Thai food!
Strange but they had only Kingfisher in Domestic bottle.
Also I'm surprised at their name - doesn't sound at all like a good joint so wonder how they attract walk ins. Sounds like a Tea export import company.
Anyway - the service was fairly decent, the decor and ambience was dim lit but nice.
FOOD - Northern Stir Fry Chicken was very good, the Chicken satay & Pad Thai was also quite well made. The smoked meat fried rice was a bit dry but worth a try with some gravy.
Surely an expensive place as compared to MG Road joints.
Overall - it was an experience worth it
Folks who relish Thai food will love the flavours here ..
Prices are on a higher side but when you got a craving for tom yum soup on a cold winter day there you go..
The papaya salad was very fresh and mildly flavored with chilli and sauce. A very refreshing start to our meal. We followed this with steamed lotus stems. I've always ordered fried lotus stems and thats a dish I like, but I was in the mood to experiment a little and it paid off. This is a very bland dish, so if you're looking for something simple and healthy this would be just the dish. For the main course we ordered Pad Thai noodles, this wasn't up to my satisfaction but it certainly wasn't bad. All in all a good experience.
Good place to try Thai foods! I loved the Tender Coconut Soup, a really unique soup flavour. The Green Thai Curry was delicious too. A little more light inside the restaurant would make the ambience more enjoyable.
Ambience 8/10
Food 9/10
Service 8/10
Once called One Night in Bangkok this is a must visit place for anyone on a Pan Asian binge. As soon as you enter south East Asia hits you in the face with different ornaments, paintings and decorations taking you back to a different country. Each corner of the restaurant is decorated differently and although it is kind of dark and secluded looking the atmosphere is perfect for the look they are going for.
The food is absolutely delicious. I couldn't find any fault. I've had the Rendang Curry as well as the Thai but I preferred the former. Also the soupy noodles in the coconut based broth and the spicy beef as an appetizer is a must order. They have a wide variety and I don't think anything that you choose will be wrong.
The service is decent but I had to look for a waiter at times but they know what the dishes are and so you can't really fault them much.
I would rate this restaurant 8/10
Nice ambience. The food isn't exactly authentic thai, but very original and light. Loved their tom-yum soup, and skewers, especially the peanut sauce. Definitely will visit again.
This place is too good. I really like their menu and they have healthy options like steamed fish and great variety of soups. 2nd visit in the same week. Also, they also play great retro music! Nostalgic for a 90s kid! 😬
Favourite restaurant in all of Bangalore! We had some really authentic Thai food here and the experience was great too. The staff was friendly and the ambience was also pretty good.
I love old classic pop music and this was just the place to go to.. and the food is really delicious 😋 plus zomato gold works here 😬 I just didn’t like seating arrangement
Just next to corner house this little place in Indirangar mainly cater to Thai cuisine.
Ambience is pretty average and the place itself is quite small.
Food is pretty decent and very authentic. I loved their green curry and was very amazingly delicious and finger licking but the price is very steep and quantity not very fulfilling.
Luckily I had zomato gold so the price didn't shoot up very high for me.
If the price factor can be overlooked than this is among one of the best Thai restaurant in Bangalore.
This is a cozy yet fun place in Indiranagar. To begin with - the ambience.. strikes the perfect balance to be able to bring your friends or family.
For appetizers we ordered the Chicken with Black Bean. I would say the quantity felt less but the flavour was wonderful enough to let it settle into your palate as you wait for the mains.
The mains! I would highly recommend the Pad Thai. It was oozing with flavour. Another dish was the River Noodles. Quite self explanatory. I would recommend this to those who are looking for a calmer, simplistic and less spicy dish, perfect for those with a cold and have been dragged by friends for dinner. The last in the order was the Massaman curry with steamed rice. That got mixed reviews from my fam! However I loved it!
We heard a lot about the food at STC (Siam Trading Company) and decided to give it a go. Since the 2 of us are not heavy eaters, we ordered the chicken Tom yum soup accompanied by the Thai chicken dumpling and prawn in thin wrappers with wasabi mayo and chili. For mains, we shared a meal bowl of the pork and prawn dry noodles. We loved the food in general, lovely delicate Thai flavours! The only dish we wudnt go back for we’re the dumplings as there was nothing that really stood out and they were quite ordinary. Great value for money using Zomato gold ofcourse! Service was attentive and we spent a good 2 hours catching up! Definitely recommend for some good Thai food in Indiranagar!
I am very stingy when it comes to rate any place,i usually don't give full 5stars but this place deserves it.
Interior- to be honest i didn't like it much ,one side has natural light whereas all other parts are dark like coal-hole( not exactly but it really was dark).
Food- But if i talk about food ,it covers all the negatives i found.
We had-
Water noodles
Ramen
Rubbie red
All the three were top notch.Highly recommend this place since i completely loved it.
Tips- Ramen had some weird smell of fish so tell them in advance to add less if you are trying their ramen.
Asian food lovers, here is your place! The food is so good to die for. The manager is really humble and welcoming. I visited the place on 1st October night. The cops were shutting down the place. Since I travelled far to have Siam’s food, the manager considered my request and got my food parceled. Even then the food was amazing. Better luck next time!
Ended up here with a few friends while hunting for a good Asian place to get dinner at. The place was well lit with an ambience of a fine dining restaurant. The first waiter who came to take our order seemed a little less experienced and could not make us any suggestions or help us select our order.
Coming to the food, I ordered the veg river noodle bowl. I loved the broth and if given can drink a whole bowl of it. The meal itself is quiet light on the stomach and does not fill you up as much. My friends ordered the chicken Bangkok bowl and the wholesome ramen bowl. Both of which were good as well.
The place is slightly expensive but thank God for zomato gold :D
Small but nice place. They serve good Thai food and it’s cheap also. Best is 1+1 Zomato gold on food. Red Thai chicken curry is awesome. Bowl quantity is perfect for one person. Highly recommend
The food is absolutely gorgeous. I've tried their dry noodles with pork and prawn, the cellophane noodles, the curried noodle bowl, the ramen, crispy lotus stem and Pad Thai. This had become my favourite place to visit and I found myself here every Sunday. Every item served here was to die for. Absolutely love the decor and the quiet atmosphere.
Simple and nice interiors. The Spicy Prawns & the Thai Roast Chicken was good . Pork ribs was a little too sweet. Pad Thai was very average . Value for money though .
More like 3.7, food is good but the service is slow af. Great ambiance tho. It was a bit over-crowded and stuffy but overall a decent xp. Definately recommend it.
I always love Thai food and this place does it justice....I had the Thai spicy ribs, smoked meat fried rice, prawn in wasabi....all of them finger licking...the cocktails were also amazing....a great place to relax and eat
Was packed for a Friday night. We probably got the last table as they told us that the rest of the tables were all reserved. Ambience was average. Service a little slow but the food was pretty good. Chicken momos were good and the dip with it was great. Spring rolls were nice, could have had more flavor. Some spicy prawn starter was also ordered. Nice sized prawns and fresh too. Had sea food pad thai noodles for main course and I really enjoyed it.
The place actually became pretty upbeat after 9 30. Music, dimmer lights and all that. Overall a good dinner place if Asian food is your thing. Zomato gold made it quite light on the pocket as well.
A cozy place in the competitive 12th Main road Indiranagar. Set up in a way to replicate a typical asian restaurant that you will find in Thai/Vietnam/Similar countries.
The food was excellent especially the Beef ones. The service was upto the mark, got slow towards the end but overall Ok.
All the drinks especially the Cocktails/ Mocktails are very highly priced compared to other restaurants. The Cocktail menu has a specific Thai aspect to end but is very difficult to justify the hefty price tag. Even the Mocktails are priced 350+ !
Best recommend for Food :)
Feels like you've suddenly stepped into Pattaya! The decor is well put together - may be just a little too dimly lit than what I'd have liked.
They have a flood of food options - chicken, pork, beef and veg options take up pages worth of items. Food tasted good too.
Cocktails are probably what they're known for. However, for me, it all tasted just about average - nothing too special. I've certainly had better cocktails elsewhere in Bangalore. Strangely, their drinks (including mocktails) are very pricey.
Conclusion: it's a nice little place with a character and flavour of its own. However, I don't think this would be a place I'd keep going back to.
Food : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Ambience : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Service : 4.5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
Friends outing and It was our first time here, we were little confused but then decided to have our weekend lunch here.
Restaurant Staff suggested the best cuisines available and we ordered.
Loved All the cuisines , Amazing ambience, yummy food and decent service.
It is not much spacious so during peak hours it might be little difficult but overall it was a nice experience.. 👍🏻
we ordered crispy fish with green mango, bbq ishan style with rice skewer, pad Thai, dry noodles with prawn pork shiitake mushroom and Asian greens, wholesome ramen bowl and mango sticky rice. This place is not really big but food here is too good.special mention to crispy fish, pad thai and ramen bowl.these are must haves. dry noodles is less in quantity and we got very small 2piece of pork but other than that amazing food and very polite service.and Of course hassle free zomato gold service.highly recommended.
The place gives you a feel of entering one of the Asian country side. Their beef and pork appetizers is not to forget when you place an order. Also their bowl combos are very nicely done and is very much filling . The staffs are also very very friendly and on their toes . They explain you everything with so much passion and would help you get the best order . It's a must try place 😀
Food was great! We liked almost everything we ordered. Only 2 negatives, one was that the food was a bit slow to arrive, however the taste of the food more than made up for it. The other was the lighting in the restaurant is not up to the mark, it’s quite dark except for the glass area where there is natural light.
These people made my day. The taste of the food was damn good. While going through menu, I saw chicken n lichee soup ( never heard and tried off) so i ordered it. To my surprise it's taste was out of the box. The combination of chicken and lichee was so yum and it's a must try. Next we ordered prawn fry with wasabi mayo, and I enjoyed every bit of it. If you guys are fond of Thai food, then I would recommend to check out this place. I just felt mocktail could have been better. Ambience was soothing along with nice country-side songs. Servicing were also very quick and people were polite. I truly enjoyed my lunch today. I would rate Siam trading with 4.5☆
Good food, nice ambience and very good value for money if you have zomato gold. Try the chef specials in bowl meals. Wasabi with prawns is a super try!!! Overall must visit
Lovely place to catch-up with friends over long conversations, the food compliments the mood as well. The pork starters are definitely a must-do. It's simply delicious, well-cooked and got a well-rounded set or flavours. The main course - I tried a pork and prawn meal which was perfect for me. It had a mix of shitake mushrooms, broccoli, well glazed, sweet pork bits and prawns to nibble on. This was placed over a bed of noodles that were so much fun to eat with chopsticks 😃 The fried rice with pork and chicken was quite good too. Though it can be missed as it's pretty ordinary. Give the mocktails a miss if you can as they're quite under whelming.
OMG. What a place. Totally love it for the bowls and the starters. Took the Wholesome Ramen Bowl with beef, and it completely blew my mind. It has a very strong fish taste cause of the sauce they use. Might be an issue for people who aren't very used to dry fish smell.
Price wise they are reasonable and the Zomato Gold is a big hit if you are enrolled. The place in itself is small so preferable to make a reservation if visiting on weekends.
Highly recommended for Asian food lovers.
The place is well designed and the menu is well structured. The ambience and the food are quite complementary. The staff are polite. The food is pretty good. Perfect for a first meeting or date.
Visiting for the first time today. Absolutely no regrets. Super Cocktails and cocktails. Delicious appetizers. Very tasty mains. Absolutely yummy desserts. Very fast and courteous service.
What else can one ask for 😊
Siam Trading Company calls in for a good Thai dining experience. Small, dim lit place with a typical Asian feel to it.
We ordered :
Wrapped prawns in Wasabi mayo- Prawns wrapped in thin fried sheets dipped in mayo and sweet chilli sauce. Served in small cutting chai glasses, this was a simple yet a good start in appetizers.
Grilled chicken in green marinade: These slices of thin cut grilled chicken was well marinated and served with two sticky rice skewers
Wholesome Ramen Bowl: Filling, spicy, generous portion of your choice of meat
Yellow Pineapple prawn curry: One of the best dishes, also a chef recommended menu item. This curry is best enjoyed with sticky or steamed rice. Spicy curry with pineapple chunks adding a twist and cooked in fish sauce makes this prawn dish enjoyable.
Overall, food and service was good.
Loved everything about it. Every dish that we ordered had a hidden surprise for the tastebuds. We ordered shredded beef in black bean sauce, wholesome ramen, mango with sticky rice and couple of other starters. I was overly joyful tasting each one of them. Would highly recommend mango with sticky rice for dessert, i found it better than the one i had in Bangkok tbh.
If u are from the 80’s era this place is perfect for you. A nice cozy set up that welcomes you with gentle piped music until about 1030pm when the DJ takes over and refuses to let you stop dancing. The music is tasteful and something I could relate to. The drinks are good and the service time is great. The food is a huge plus with some great tastes. The Som Tham is an all time favourite and the pork preps are awesome. The restrooms are small but clean. No valet Parking is available but if you are patient enough you can find off street parking. The manager is always available for a quick chat and to help with anything you may need.
Had heard about the place from friends but never had the opportunity to try it till today. Even though I had heard horror stories about the slow service, I didn't face any delays. ( Might be because we were the only people dining at the time ). The ambience is good and food is very tasty. Had the Prawn and Ginger Soup and Pork Meat Rice.
Went to STC last night for an early dinner and it was a great experience. We ordered the raw papaya salad, chicken satay, green curry ramen and Thai green curry with rice. The ramen was my favorite. The chicken satay could've been a bit better, but other than that everything else was pretty good. Will visit this place again!
Pork ribs was amazing - polite staff : good manager as well - not too long of a waiting period , no complaints in the service - coke was the only thing that wasn’t fresh - ingredients are good but for the price tag the quantity was terrible - small quantities for the exuberant price tag - non the less the food was amazing
Siam Trading Company serves fantastic Thai food. Visited this place on a Sunday noon. The ambiance is pretty good, with both dim lit area and a beautiful bright section below the glass roof. You would need to reserve a table if you plan to visit during the rush hours. However, we got through without any reservation, sadly not under the glass roof.
For starters we savoured Chicken n young peppercorns and Spicy Thai Prawns. For the maincourse we had Thai Roast Chicken. The food was authentic and clearly made with passion. Thai Prawns was truly scrumptious. We also had a White Elephant Mocktail which was a bit of a let down.
The service was prompt, moderately priced, large portions of food sufficient enough to be shared. Worth a try!
First and foremost loved their Hot coddy with brandy. It soothed my sore throat like magic. The server offered to make it hearing I have a sore throat, which was too sweet of him.Now coming to the food, there are some must tries here. crispy fish in green mango, wrapped prawns in wasabi mayo, crispy calamari. The smoked meat fried also was quite good and unique.Overall a lovely place :)
I would have given them 5 star rating if it weren't for their slow service. The food here is excellent. Each and every dish we ordered did not disappoint even a little bit. Even though we had to wait for a very long time, when the food arrived and we took the first bite of each dish, I have to agree that it was definitely worth the wait.
Their pork and beef dishes were absolutely delicious and all of the dishes had really good flavours. Will definitely be back to try out more of their dishes.
“Lights will guide you home “ , STC Is now home for some really good food , like the old Bangkok styles alleys (also reminds me of China Town) . It was a one off plan we hit upon wanting to try some place new . Chance upon STC, the menu looked short and crisp , I ordered for some pork belly with hot basil 🌿 while the lady ordered for a wholesome ramen bowl , and we were absolutely hooked with the taste , promising to come back to this place again till we finish tasting all of the dishes here . Thank you STC , can’t wait to be back again .
Authentic to its taste. They serve up a wonderful variety of Thai cuisines and Thai inspired beverages. The som tam (raw papaya salad) is one of my favorites here. During weekends, be ready to be taken back to the 80's. The entire place transforms and takes you to the disco era. Foot tapping music gets most of the crowd dancing wherever they are. It is a must visit for me, once a month to get my dose of Thai food and saving me a trip.
Very vibrant food and drinks menu , do try their innovative cocktails I am sure you won't stop unless it's hurting your pocket .
Yes this place offers amazing Thai food and Thai inspired cocktails but is expensive so beware when ordering .
Although I am posting this review after a long time but I can still taste the Thai flavours in my mouth .
Enjoy the food pics won't be able to give separate review about the dishes as I am too lazy right now to figure out their names and describe how tasty and succulent food was.
Small cozy place , it has a bar counter & DJ. Mature crowd & a place for non-vegetarian. We ordered pork belly, stir fry beef, pork ribs, lamb, Thai pork & a must try dish - crispy fish with raw mango. Food is palatable & good quality, decent quantity. There is no much choice of alcohol. Must try their well spread menu!!
Absolutely in love with this versatile food haven, with an amazing food menu and beautifully curated cocktails! We visited this place on a Sunday evening, looking forward to a casual rejuvenating dinner before we hit Monday and this place was just what we needed.
I’ll start my review with the drinks first because of their fabulous collection of cocktails! We started off with the Lavender and Hibiscus LITs, such unique flavours and beautiful concoctions! For starters, we ordered their Rice paper wrapped prawns with a sauce dip, Pork dumplings followed by a main course of rice bowl and dry noodles with pork and prawns. I loved their noodle bowl, the meat subtly flavoured and cooked to perfection! We also ordered a side of sliced beef steaks - soft succulent slices of meat served with a tangy sauce. In a nutshell, this is how I would rate the place:
Food - 5/5
Drinks - 5/5
Ambience- 5/5
Absolutely a must visit, I’ll definitely come back again to savour some amazing Pan- Asian cuisine! Highly recommended for friends, families, couples or anyone just looking forward to having some good food with the coolest cocktails in town!
Visited Siam Trading company today and had such a wonderful experience overall.
Starting off, I ordered the grilled beef with lemongrass. This was an absolute 5/5 dish, the beef was soft and succulent, there was a hint of lemongrass and it was just wonderful.
Next I ordered the chicken dumplings. This wasn't upto my expectations. The dumplings as well as the sauce had a lot of lemongrass/ lemon-y fragrance which was so overpowering that the balance of the dish was off, do not recommend.
For main course, we ordered the Pan fried pork and prawns noodles along with the seafood ramen bowl. The pan fried pork and prawn dish was absolutely delicious, I wish the noodles were served hot, they were warm and clumpy but the taste compensated for everything, must try dish.
The seafood ramen bowl was warm, wholesome. However, something was missing. Hard to pin point but it just didn't taste as well balanced as ramen/ ramen broth usually tastes.
Special mention to the staff and service of this place. What an absolutely wonderful staff, so attentive and great at their job.
Food : 3.5/5
Ambience : 4/5
Service : 5/5
Value for money : 3.5/5
Good Food. Good ambience. The staff is friendly and with Zomato gold the place is just perfect. Would definitely recommend the pork belly and the calamari. The cocktails are a must try too
It was a Sunday evening, we wanted to go out for dinner and try something new when we came across this place. I ordered Bangkok bowl for myself and totally loved the taste. It was a perfect blend of spices and just the right quantity. To add on, good ambience and hospitality.
This is a great place for Thai food . I had the chicken Tom yum soup which was really nice and quiete close to one's I've had in Bangkok. The ambiance is charming and the staff is very helpful. Zomato gold one plus one of food made the whole experience even better.
Hello.
I love thai food. Do you like Thai food? This place is worth checking out. It's got zomato gold which makes life great.
Ambience:
Cute place. It has a section which is nicely well lit and a darker section for your dark moods. The washroom is little scary...it's dark and small and red and quiet. The service is great, so polite.
Food:
YASSS THE FOOD!!!
So we ordered 4 dishes.
1. Thai basil chicken- sooo good. Go for it, it'll make you happy.
2. Prawn satay- not flavourful enough sadly. I had high expectations from this, due to my prawn addiction. ( 1 star cut for this dish )
3. Wholesome ramen bowl- pretty decent. Great portion. Visually pleasing.
4. Thai green curry- I loved loved loved this so much. It's spicy, basil-y, creamy, has all the right flavours. The chef has out done himself. It's got lychees also which is refreshing. Pls order this. And take the steamed rice.. sticky rice is too much.
I had always wanted to go to Siam Trading Company, intrigued by the name, which I must have asked, I suppose, after the happy-tummy dinner last night. What struck me first about Siam Trading Company first was the entrance-a sliding door and a heavy curtain opens up to the dining space. It is as though you have been teleported to one of those South Asian tea houses you see in the cinemas! The decor is simple and comfortable and I can happily claim that the music selection was one of the best I have come across.
Now, the food is yumilicious! We ordered a Bangkok Bowl, a smoked meat fried rice and a Pad Thai deviating from the conventional Thai curries that remains a favourite with me. While I cannot vouch for the fried rice, vegetarian that I am, I was told that it was a joyous affair. The Bangkok bowl had this tingling taste of basil and just the right amount of red paste and is a must try. The Pad Thai, a rice noodles, which I devoured was subtly sweet while the spice element was just right and the peanuts added a surprise crunch. There are chilli flakes on the side for the adventurous ones. We wanted to try the Mango sticky rice for dessert but being full and not wishing to dissuade the taste we left it for some other day. Oh yes, the portions are generous and the staff extremely courteous.
This is one place that mustn't be missed.
Dramatic, very dramatic place this Siam Trading Co Thai Kitchen + Bar is. Sort of place where you order a Bento box and a pint of beer on a stormy night, later go out and strangulate a footpath dweller on Tokyo underbelly. This 12th main watering hole reeks of Higashino. Just joking.
The food was good, the barbecue pork was the real draw, I loved the snootiness of dryness.
The noodles soaked in coconut gravy was tad too sweet for my liking. I couldn't spot any squids in the holy mix of seafood. Dumpling filling was too class, not sure why they had to have such an elaborate layer. Wife found the prawn and ginger soup smelly, that wasn't the case for me, it worked well.
The service was prompt initially, somewhat lost the promptness when the volume of order increased. Couple of card swiping machines were malfunctioning, FYI.
I strongly feel this is a watering hole and dancing to a DJ mixed version of 'another one bites the dust' somehow diluted the charm.
