I miss a place like this in Chennai and I'd call it my home in Bangalore. Atta Galatta is a place that gets you acquainted with the city if you are new, . . and in the best sense too. . It's a happy pool where people from a variety of disciplines gather. . The space crops down walls and allows for people to pursue their interests, while it can also be as much of a home to solitude seekers. . . Their chai with the yellow lights and if sought, the company of the founders, make for some very fine evenings!

This is really a bookstore with the cafe attached. One of Bangalore's most popular stores that is known for a slew of events, something happening pretty much every weekend. The food is okay (and that's not the point) and they serve snacks - sandwiches, fries, omelettes, coffees - that go well with browsing or munching quietly while a book reading is on.

Are you looking for a place to drop your worries, get away from the bustling city life, sit back, unwind while reading a book and enjoy that simple cup of tea or coffee?
Well, you have arrived.
The prime location of this place helps you to arrive and depart smoothly. This place has plentiful options to buy a book or just sit and read while you sip on tea or coffee and nibble on finger food.

A lot of book launches and events keep on happening. So, keep your eyes open!

I love Atta Galata coz it’s different. It’s a book shop, library, restaurant and even place all in one, cozy space. Menu is basic, stuff you can munch on while you work or read. They sometimes don’t have dishes that are on the menu. Coffee is good, the South Indian kind. It’s the kind of place you can go and get lost in a book, and still keep eating or drinking. Only one grouse I have is the chairs and tables are all rickety. I suspect it’s by design, but please expect a sore bottom if you want to do some serious reading there.

Atta Galata, the place envisioned by each every youngester. It is the spot to meet new people, and it has been the ground for new relationships to develop. One of the very few places where you can sit peacefully without any random music in background. This also allows you to have the best conversations. And to add on to this beautiful and soulful atmosphere, you have the most kind hearted and soft spoken people to greet and serve you with a smile always. The food and books keep you warm, and like they say books are man's best friend. Well here its the place who will become your best friend. And amazing beverage and snacks, that adds to the time spent.

What more can you ask for in the prime location in Koramangala filled with pubs and clubs, a peaceful and serene space with souls to meet.

A good place. Nice surroundings. Great events. So many books to pick and read and also buy.  Food is decent. Nothing extra ordinary. Their coffee is quite nice so as the breakfast options like maggi or sandwich.  But the place run so high on cultural activities and good, knowledgeable and positive ambiance that these smaller details does not matter much.

It's a bookstore cafe. A very peaceful place but gets very chatty and rushy during weekends. It's a good space to sit down, relax and talk. They offer simple things in the menu at very reasonable prices. They have programmes every now and then.
The only con thing I would say is that they should expand the seating area.

Visiting this place is the best thing that I did here in Bangalore. This is a place started by someone having very pristine and pure emotions (idk the owner, haven't met him eithe, but still can be damn sure about the person's nature just by analyzing the place). This place is purely for a book lover or for anyone in the search of their inner peace.

It's not a full fledged cafe however you can definitely try their coffee and French fries, they are definitely worth it.

Books, coffee and comfort

This place is a must for anyone who loves the smell of book and coffee. Situated in one of the bylanes of the koramangla block 5 market, this place isn't your regular cafe. Apart from the excellent food( chicken roast sandwich and chicken burger was wow), it also hosts several events for art and pet enthusiasts. The menu is limited but the food us made and served with a positive vibe and one can sense that.
There is also a tea menu which is fab.

It is not a regular cafe, and it is not a place to find a gourmet salad. Instead, it is a place to mingle with the authors stacked up in rows on the shelves. Even if you don't like to read, you could just sit there and say the word: “Lemon Tea”, for the entire book collection to be downloaded into your brain!

I visited atta galatta yesterday afternoon with my friend to study. It was my first visit. I've heard about this place so much for being a readers abode but didn't have opportunity to drop in. Since most of my friends were busy with weekend plans I wanted it to be a productive sat so atta galatta was a right choice. The ambience is perfect for discussions, self study, reading and coffee. We went primarily to study and not to eat. But needed something to stay up since the a/c was at a very comfortable temperature. We ordered one hot chocolate, one Darjeeling tea and fries. The hot chocolate was very nice, Darjeeling tea was okay and the quantity of fries was good for its price. We stayed there for 3-4 hours. We had a very good time. We'll surly go there more often for sure.

A charming bookstore cum cafe where you can relax and while away time ... Waiting for the show upstairs to start. The use of brick n the wave shaped brick pillars, old fashioned chairs all add to the charm. The coffee is just ok, lemon tea bad and the health bars ok. This is the extent of the food we had here bscause we were greedily scouring the place a for Interesting books but sure I'll be back here for upcoming shows and will get a chance to try the snacks here.

Nice and cozy place where you can read up along with the Masala Chai which will keep you going. The place: It provides a cafe cum library atmosphere. Its a perfect place if you have a lot of work to finish and you want a friendly atmosphere. I usually go there to finish my assignments

The food: They don't offer a very wide ranging menu but it serves the purpose. They basically offer sandwichs noodles and beverages. The best combination I find there is their grilled cheese sandwich-₹50 and hot chocolate-₹50.

Ideally the place looks like a book reader's paradise, a book cafe with a very peaceful environment. That was my first impression too. but the place sort started losing its charm. Maybe it was the lack of variety in food.(we weren't there to eat much but their menu is a tease). After an hour of peaceful conversation, almost 50 people walked in. There was a book reading session for children which was commendable. Would love to visit on a weekday and stay there whole afternoon. FYI, they are not open on Mondays.

This quaint little place is one of its kind in Koramangala. It is a Library cum Cafe/Bakery. Actually speaking the collection wasn't huge, when I checked it out last year, but it certainly has an abundance of local regional literature with few classics and all-time favourties. There are also a few new books for sale. It also has the serene kind of ambience to write or for working on some solo project, and is also Wifi enabled. I've heard they conduct Poetry readings, Book readings and Theatre Events, but haven't had the opportunity to check out these yet. I really look forward attending at least some of these events. As for the Cafe, it has a humble Menu with few snacks on offer. I had a chicken Burger with some Real Juice last time I went. Tastes decent. It also has a few home baked items, which I didn't try out. Staff are friendly and helpful. The collection could be improved upon. The same goes for the menu. But in these days when reading itself is on the verge of extinction, anything that nurtures reading is an amazing endeavor.

Go here if you live in the neighborhood and want some quiet time with books! I do Coffee and books were meant to be enjoyed with each other.

The collection of books is very exhaustive. Coming to the food, ordered darjeeling black autumn flush and assam masala chai along with masala fries. According to my husband it is the best Darjeeling tea he had till date. My masala chai was also a perfect blend of spices and milk. The fries were superbly done and the dips were amazing. Indeed, this has become my new favourite spot.
A very calm and pleasing place, for you to read books, write ,discuss about work or simply read a newspaper. The cafe' cum library located in Koromangla is by far the most peaceful cafe' I have been to, which has a completely different approach to its customers, where they treat the customers not as a customer but a reader! The cafe' offers a limited and simple menu, but whatever is on it, is simply superb and economical!
They also have a bakery tagged along, with some in-house prepared bakery items for sale.
The cafe' cum library has the right kind of ambience to sit and read, and they also have books on sale and host events like book reading, poetry sessions, etc.
In short, this place is a book-readers paradise in a busy city of this sort.

The very credit to discover this fabulous food joint goes to my very friend, who played an inevitable partner in my foodie journey and the stay in Bangalore. On my last visit to the Garden City of India, I was really confused, which place would be good enough to hangout as well as have a good time around Kormangala area, as I have visited more or less, quite a few cafes in the area. On deciding upon this place, I just gave a nod and agreed on meeting at this place. The place though is quite near to JNC, but is quite invisible when one is on a ride. Anyways, on reaching the place, I was astonised by the decor as well as the collection of books. It was literally a library as well as a cafe, only a combination if both. I, being an avid reader, took a bengali literature which had an eerie cover of the book and drew my attention. Just as I opened the first page, my company asked, have you come here to read novels and stuff... lets order something atleast, to which I agreed and ordered a chicken burger and a hot cup of lemon tea(the significance of the hot beverage, only a true reader can know). Moreover, I was down with fever, so my reason was not that much complex. So, came the burger with the tea. As we started our, chit chats, I found quite a few with their lappys and cups of coffee in front of them. The burger was great, though the tea was too sour, even after adding 4 tea spoons of sugar. After an hour or so, I realized I was running late, so I asked my friend to meet at the same place, anytime soon. The place was really great for hangout, though not for really enthusiastic lads and lass who are pro active in their enjoyments. Overall a good place for silence and a great escape from the daily dwellings.
Cheers...

Definitely my favorite place to unwind in Bangalore! It came highly recommended by my bestie who thought it was a place after 'my soul'. One visit down and it has managed to become my haven! Love their collection of books, the limited yet appetizing snacks, enthralling events and most of all the 'soul' of the cafe. It's one  place where you can unload all your troubles and just soak in the tranquility! I also got to meet the founders- Subodh and Lakshmi Shankar, who were sweet enough to discuss their journey and how they came about building this quaint little cafe which embodies their diverse passions. I'm totally in love with this cafe and would recommend it to anyone who wants to have a taste of what Bangalore really stands for...

This book cafe was really a great place to just go and read books. They have a really good collection of books and there was a poem recital going on at the time I went (3rd Saturday of the month) and it is a wonderful platform for people to showcase their talent. From the ambiance point of view it was good as there are two huge bookshelves running  along the length of the walls of the room.

They have a small bakery/kitchen that is pretty cheap and the items were good. I would not recommend this place as a place for going to eat but any book lover will want to be here to just sit and read the books.

This place is a little bit of this and a little bit of that. Its a cafe and its a bookstore, too! You can come here and just soak yourself in the smell of old and new pages, of fresh and old paint on ink, while sipping into some filter coffee. They have some really great events like Let Poetry Be, which I attended. The initiative is not just unique, but deserves a shout-out for keeping a dying art alive. Also their service is quick, the decor is simply yet homely. It's unusual for me to review a place without having tried out any of their fare. It's even more peculiar for me to have visited a cafe, spent a good three hours there, and left without biting into any of the items on offer. Well, Atta Galata did prove to be an exception, when we went there a couple of weeks ago to attend one of their events. We did have the tea there, though I'm not sure whether that counts.

It's quite easy to confuse this place for a library, with people poring over books left and right. All of their walls are decked with rows of books - some of them for sale, but mostly for reading. A small counter in the far corner of the room caters to the gastronomical needs of the patrons. The spiral brick pillars, running through the centre of the room, provide a touch of antiquity to the place. Chairs were scattered here and there - you could pull one up in front of the section which demanded your uninterrupted attention.  A maths workshop for kids was going on when we arrived, (which made me feel sorry for them).

We had reached early and spent an hour or so sifting through the books, reading bits and pieces. The event, which was a reading of some of the works of Rabindranath Tagore and Satyajit Ray, was hosted exceptionally well. We did want to order a few sandwiches in the course of the reading, but then thought better of it, as we didn't want anything to distract us from the performance. I really look forward to going back as soon as possible, and this time I'll try out the sandwich for sure.

And yes I'm guilty of it, I judge a book by it's cover almost all the time, well you can't really blame me - all the books I've read with great covers have turned out to be good.
On the food front, I found it to be rather limited, they have some snacks that you can munch on, but the was nothing on their menu that interested me in particular. Just the usuals.
They also have some activities planned for kids and adults, from story telling sessions to book readings - some pretty interesting stuff I must say.

I discovered this place. It was very surprising to see such an artsy place. It gleamed of all the happening things that I used to notice in college. The food was great although the menu was not very broad. Lot of books to read but mostly in the fiction category.

A haven for book lovers, Atta Galata definitely lives up to its name with all the hustle bustle that goes on in the floor above. Walk into floor 1 of this quaint cafe and you will find books stacked up till the ceiling, covering all the walls around. Doesn't it sound just so delightful? Unleash the reader in you and pick a book of your choice in the many languages that they come in, and settle down to an evening of absolute bliss.

This cafe satisfies your stomach and your soul. Although the menu is limited, the food is excellent and the steaming cup of delicious filter coffee is what I enjoy sipping on while devouring the rest of the items on the menu. Snack on the chicken burger and the masala omelette, whilst you continue enjoying the quiet ambience.

The floor above is utilized to conduct workshops, seminars, book readings, discussions and other artsy work. Keep yourself busy every weekend by signing up for the various art-related workshops that take place here.

This is my go-to place! Being a bookworm, this place is where I go to relax and kickback with a chilled lime juice and a book. The chicken burger is amazing and the nutella waffle is heavenly! Every weekend they have some event or the other, like poetry slam, songs, etc. It all helps in increasing the charm of this quaint little place. I hope they are able to sustain their standards.

This place is such a delight to be at. For one, it's a total paradise for the book worms. Two, the smell of books makes it a great place to hang out. Three, it's pretty quite and makes it a sort of library that you can go study at. The menu is not very wide but I promise is very tasty. The chicken burger is the yummiest of all. The biggest plus of this place? They are so friendly on the pocket and you can eat a whole lot, and it still won't feel like a pinch. I absolutely love this place. Must try for all the book worms out there.

Since the time i am in bangalore.. i had heard a lot about this place. And at last I cud visit it. Well i am a book worm... a kindle worm des daz😎 and dis was precisely why I wanted to visit Atta Galata.

This place is surely unique.. dey hav some very good collection of books.. which can be read aaram se over der.. and also some of the latest books are available for sale. The coolest thing is tht tht hav gr8 collection for kids..

Now why am i writing this review on Zomato?? Wrll because.. this place also serves awesome snacks. We ordered for grilled mushroom sandwich, masala chai and milk shake. Trust me the sandwich was really delicious and when dey say mushroom sandwich.. dey really added mushrooms in it!!

The chai was decent.. what i liked was the tiny Rusk pieces which was served wit it. Also the milk shake was served in a typical bone chine mug which jus made memories of my childhood fresh!!

All in all dis is one place which has the ryt ambience, amazing staff.. awesome collection of books and good food. And wait... most of all this is perhaps 1 place in kormangala which is actually cheap... do visit if u love books.. n in case u dnt then jus visit for its ambience n snacks. Engit Prabhat

For a bookworm like me, its a blessing to have found such a place which satisfies my hunger and reading desires at the same time. The place is strictly not an eating place. More place and area is given to books/reading and workshops. The cafe is like an afterthought. Very limited selection of items, but I tried their masala omelettes and masala chai, and they were absolutely, finger smacking good. When you can munch, sip and read at the same time, time takes a back seat. You just enjoy the book.
They have a very wide collection of... books. varied genres and for different age groups. Do give them a try. Their food and books I mean.....

I must admit that the place has a very limited menu but the ambiance and the books make up for it. You shouldn't visit Atta Galata for the food but rather visit it to read a book or to have a lazy conversation with a friend. The cafe has an Indian home library feel to it and invokes this sense of laziness in you. The service is slow, but you would believe that it is intentional. Come here if you have time to kill and are wondering where to go.

The ambiance of this place is very different from normal cafes. You will find a number of books at this place. People come here to spend some alone time as well as to meet old friends. Its a really calm place and the pillar structures are worth noticing. One thing I did not like about the place was that they have very few items on the menu and all of those items were not even available. We could find very few items that matched our interest. Sandwiches are nice at this place.

This place will work as a spa to your mind and tummy.
Very reasonable pricing , good food .
They also host plays on 2nd floor for the same you can buy tickets on book my show .
This cafe should be a little more visible , but then again , it's for a few lucky ones.

I even ordered their grilled cheese sandwich and chai. The sandwich had mashed potato filling alongwith cheese, dont know why. They even had an storytelling event going on. Staff is really friendly and cordial. A really good place to go if you wanna spend some time alone or even with friends. :)

Just strolling by the roadside one day we saw this beautiful window with the shelves loaded with books which appeared so unresistably tempting to us.. And when we entered inside, to our surprise the place was even more beautiful. The old school ambience and feel of it makes it just so exclusive plus the staff and the owner herself was so polite and welcoming. This place is simply a paradise for all those who love reading and also for all the people who wants to take a break from the city's fast noisy life.. Simply my best discovery in Bangalore as of yet..

For me as I was longing for a peaceful place at Bangalore its simply an ideal one. Basic food is served here that is simply authentic and much worth its price. And u simply get the best experience wen u get to know a reader like anuja chauhan and simply find a room for inspiring myself. So its simply an awsme place for ppl who like calm atmosphere.

Located amidst the bustle of Koramangala This place is definetly all about peace of mind and doing what you like the most i.e., reading. And having said that, their hot chocolate drink is amazing and their menu is priced very economically. They have an appreciable number of books which includes both bengali/kannada literature. The one thing that makes this place stand out is the initiative that they take towards promoting writers. They have writers who come there and talk about their work and their inspiration. Most places are not capable of getting your spirits high on an afternoon but this place is an exception.

A place where food and good books come together. Sip on your chai or munch on your fries and indulge in your favourite book. From Enid Blytons to literature in Tamil and Kannada till cookbooks, this place has them all. They have two sections when it comes to books, ones which are up for sale and the others which are meant for in house reading.

A really cosy place with minimal noise, which perhaps makes it a perfect environment to cut off from the rest of the world and keep reading. The seating is just about comfortable and the staff are cooperative. The food is served in a jiffy to the table where you are seated. Read long enough till you feel good and the staff are kind enough not to bother you even if you have finished your quick bite hours ago!

Well the food is just about average. The filter coffee was served piping hot and it did strike more than just the standard notes. The Chai was very well done too. I guess these are best accompaniants while reading and they were pretty much nailed. The Fries were crispy and were certainly fresh. You might not want to choose the burger as it was just about average. I did see a few cupcakes and some brownies on display.

Theres always a certain appeal to a book store for a bookworm like me. As soon as i entered Atta galata i fell in love. The atmosphere is like nowhere else and sitting there i can fell myself drifting into the world of a million books.
The food there is nothing fancy but its quite worth the cost. Its excellent value for money!! I have fallen in love with their lemon juice(its quite addictive) , brownie and their grilled cheese sandwiches. Theres something quite comforting about reading an old book and sipping a hot cup of filter coffee from an authentic "davara tumbler" while its raining outside with the muffled sounds of Bangalore traffic.
That same atmosphere, friendly staff and constant flurry of activity has me hooked.
There are amazing book readings they conduct there as well as the interesting theatre and art workshops conducted by professionals.
Oh! and i almost forgot when you are there ( you should probably go there once or the book gods will probably scowl at you from their heavenly library) dont forget to buy their amazing Veg burger!!

Don't we all wish we get to sit down undisturbed, sipping on coffee with wireless access topped with quality based affordable food at your service?

Well, this is the place to be. I have visited Atta Galatta many times and would surely give my best rating for all the packaged services offered.

I find the staff very friendly, approachable. Ambiance is soothing - not overdone and has a class of its own - Dont miss out on some of the paintings/art work put up!

Coming to the menu - Its simple yet offers an array of items to choose from. Every item is served with care and detail - appealing too.
Most importantly, I find sandwiches, pizzas and their masala pav very tasty. Portions are sumptuous. Pizzas have generous toppings, masala pav is unique and sandwiches are fresh!

What more can we ask for - A coffee shop worth a visit.

Atta Galata is an apt place for "Coffee & Conversations". I happened to visit along with few friends for some discussion and this place was suggested by TheFlyinGlutton. I should really thank him for advising this beautiful place. I did not find difficult in finding this place near Jyothi Nivas College, Koramangala.
As I said in the beginning, if you wanted to have nice conversational meet, visit without second thought.
This Cafe is more like a library with so many book racks surrounded by dining tables. Decor is impressive though!
Their menu is very simple with limited dishes at pocket friendly prices.
We ordered Mango Milk Shake, Lime Juice, French Fries and Slice of Pizza!
Mango milkshake was superb with right amount of sweetness. French Fries were perfectly fried but we were bit disappointed with pizza, looks like they reheated the pizza and there were no much toppings on it. It was neither margaritas nor topping based one!
Staffs are very nice, attentive and have lot of patience!
Highly recommended place!

I always attend a play / open mic / meetup on a Weekend here. The place serves a small menu but everything is so home-like tasty. My favorite is the Mushroom Sandwich i.e. for 60/- only and I also like their Maggi, its the second best after my Mom's. They also sell books & have some books to read. since it is a library cafe. They also put up little small gifts / artworks for sale. I love this place and it is literally my Sunday Go-To place.
