Good biriyani and value for money. Mutton was fresh, fried kebab is the normal fare but tasted good.

I haven't had proper Donne Biryani in a longtime but this is certainly one on the best in Bengaluru. They had both the Biryanis when I went but the only side available was the kabab, which actually is a good thing as it means they don't just make everything they can and push stale food if it dosen't sell. I ordered the mutton Biryani and boy was it good. The pieces could possibly break if you lifted it, it's that tender and the rice isn't as spicy as I would like but the flavours were just phenomenal!! The kabab was the best amongst all the Biryani places I have eaten till date and none of the pieces could be called boney in any measure. It lost a star because it's a pain to find (basement location afterall) and the place is slightly claustrophobic.

Had this place on my list so went for Saturday lunch.We ordered Donne biryani, mutton biryani, chicken kebab and chicken biryani.The biryani taste is good.The chicken melts in your month.It's a little spicy.Ambience and service was good.
I would give 3.5 but that's not an option here . I've been reading reviews about the kebab so I had to try it . Bought a plate of kebabs and chilli chicken the previous night .
Kebabs - they were worth the price and tasted good but they were too salty , the kebabs were different and tried having the Empire resteraunt kind of kebab tatse but different in its own way but it was a little too salty and hence wasn't a very nice experience
Chilli chicken - the chilli chicken was worth the price too and the spicy gravy and chicken is really nice .
I would recommend to try this place as the food is worth the price point
Time to go native on a lazy Sunday afternoon and binge on some scrumptious Mutton Donne biryani aka Pulav... I love this style of simple flavours with excellent quality of meat served with raita and a wonderful light saalan.... Loved the flavours of the rice which can be had by itself but then you get these chunks of soft succulent Mutton pieces in it and it's heaven... Nothing can be better for post overnight binge drinking session.... N also being taught the proper way to eat this was a bonus.... To open up the Donne, so that it is more like a plate itself... Lunch "Donne" right!!!
One of the amazing and mouth watering biryani I have ever tasted! It's a nice and a Cosy place situated in RT Nagar which Is easy to find and the ambiance is cool too. A must try place!

Heading for a feelgood Donne Biriyani in RT Nagar, this is the place!!
Coming to the food, the Biriyani is "Feelgood" Served in the authentic manner The Donne, it gives a good feel. The aroma of the Biriyani first captures your attention, which is not too mild nor too concentrated. Then comes the texture, which was non sticky and hence a yay!! I had ordered a Chicken Biriyani, Egg Biriyani and a Chicken Kabab. The Biriyani tasted absolutely well and the the raita and salon were not much useful, since the flavour was so intense. The chicken pieces were well cooked the meat was juicy. So, a thumbs up for the Chicken Biriyani. Egg Biriyani was simply an egg put on the Biriyani rice and not cooked with the Biriyani. So, the flavour in the egg was not even superficial. The man of the day was Kabab: juicy, crispy and tasty, they were well marinated and perfectly fried with all the spices engrossed the peice. One must have those bad boys for the best contentment.
Coming to Ambiance, the place is in the Basement but can be easily located since many boards have been put up. They can easily accomadate a 40 people or so. The place has a good light. This is a self service restaurant, since the crowd is too much in the peak hour of lunch you may have to wait a little for your turn to order. The staff are really friendly and would see to your needs as such.

So one weekend in the afternoon was very hungry and I had cravings for Biryani and couldn't go far in search of it.. So I decided to try out this small Biryani place near my room.. So as it was Sunday it not that crowded..

We couldn resist ourselves from trying this Biryani as it was getting served to our next table we couldn hold on to it anymore..
So finally our chicken biryani was on our table which was served in Donne (Bowl which is made up of leaves) 👌👌
Taste: It was extremely well cooked and chicken was very tender 😍😍

One good place to try the bengaluru style of biryani that is the donne biryani. Service is pretty good. I tried the mutton biryani and chicken kebab. The hot biryani just out of dum was delicious with right amount of masala and was served with sherwa and neat raita. Kebab was extra crispy and juicy. Have their butter milk after your meal . When your in mood for hot n spicy chicken biryani, have no other option in mind than this place. It's located in CBI main road, in the basement towards the main road which is bit hard to notice. The place is crowded as it has limited number of seatings which is a CON for this place. As I was bit late checked for Chicken biryani and butter milk but would call myself lucky as there were very chicken biryani left and butter milk had ran out of stock. Chicken is tender and the rice is mixed with right kinda spices making it mouth watering. The quantity served can easily fulfill the hungry soul and satisfy your cravings. I would definitely recommend this place to those foodies who have craving for biryani especially when you're in North Bangalore.
Took parcel of mutton biryani.. it was yummy... Great taste.. mutton pieces were well cooked and flavour was excellent. Curry(soup/sauce) with mutton biryani was also tasty. Raitha was not upto the mark as it was more like buttermilk. Maybe you can use curds for raitha.

This is my first visit and these are my reviews.
Ambience : The place is clean and kept neat but there were a lot of houseflies which was a bit irritating.
Service : The service was good and quick. Almost got everything I ordered in a matter of ten minutes.
Food : I ordered Biryani rice, Kabab, Chilli chicken. The taste is of course the same across all the places, but the kabab was the best. Crispy outside, juicy inside. The chilly chicken was great with it being moderately spicy. Finished off with a glass of butter milk.
Would be better if they add a half boiled egg along with the Biryani.
The prices aren't too expensive and it's pocket friendly. Would visit the place again..

There are 3 outlets of Huliyappa's in Bangalore. This one that I regularly visit is situated at a corner on a busy R.T.Nagar street. It's a petite place with 6 long wooden tables and benches to accommodate for the large groups that walk in for lunch or dinner.
It's a self service restaurant where you order your requirement at the counter, pay and then take your meal to your seat, once it's ready obviously. The rice used for both, chicken as well as mutton biryani, has the same flavour. They're steamy hot with the right amount of spices and herbs. The best quality about this eatery is that the chicken or meat is literally cooked to perfection. It's neither over cooked nor undercooked nor does it have unnecessary raw spices on it. It's soft, juicy and melts in your mouth. The pieces given per plate biryani is good in number.
The chicken kebabs are freshly made with a crunchy exterior and a juicy flesh.
The prices are not too much. The max that you can shell out on a meal over here is not more than ₹200. Stomach filling and completely satisfying your tastebuds.
If you haven't tried this place yet, then I don't know what exactly are you guys waiting for! Try it out, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Fourth week for Wednesday Nite diners, hahaha at least that is what our WhatsApp group is called. After postponing for 3 weeks somehow got an idea to use technology at the most and ordered on Swiggy (not endorsing). The parcel was delivered at prompt.
No comments about the food as the whole bangalore knows about the taste.
Guntur chicken was spicy and yummy.
And then goes Biryani rice which is our common dish across.
I missed my bull's eye the most. It would have been the best combination.
Please compliment the Biryani Rice buys with half boiled egg atleast. They will remember you more.

The Donne biryani is Bangalore's contribution to the world of biryani. The Donne refers to the dried palm leaf plates or rather bowls the biryani is served in. The biryani itself it quite unique and unlike other traditional styles of biryani making. The biryani itself is greenish-yellow in colour. A paste of green chilly, mint and coriander leaves, onion and garam masala's used to flavour the biryani and give it a unique colour. I come back from higher studies and the first thing I wanted to do was have biryani from this place. It tastes like authentic south Indian style granma's secret recipe kinda biryani. Other highlights are chili chicken and Guntur chicken. I have been visiting this place from the inception and now the renovation leaves enough place for a good family dinner.
One of the first place I had Donne Biryani, till then Biryani for me is only Hyderabadi Biryani but after having Donne Biryani I changed my mind that there are other varieties Biryani other than Hyderabadi style.
They have carried tradition from generations in making this Biryani. Decent place, good food, easy go on your pocket. They also serve some best 🐓 kebabs.
Bottom-line: Twist in the traditional Biryani, yummy yet not spicy
Grt place to have some authentic Karnataka style Donne Biriyani. The biriyani is tasty with the meat properly done. Club it with some very good chicken kabab which is well prepared. Also the new ambience is very nice for small family to dine in.

With a lot of Biriyani outlets popping up all over city - there is a quite a stiff competition. This one is RT Nagar is a small outlet but is high on taste. They have a very small dine-in and biriyani is served in a donne as the name states. We went for a takeaway of chicken biriyani, egg biriyani and chicken kebab.
Quantity is quite good and chicken pieces in plenty in the biriyani. Rice is same for both chicken and egg and very flavorsome indeed. Good texture and color as well.Chicken kebab is good , nicely done and most of the pieces were almost boneless - it would taste nice if consumed hot, becomes a little soggy when one gets a take-away and left for a while.
Ambiance is just ok and its a self service place. A little hidden from the main road and easy to miss, but the board is bright and clearly visible from the main road. Food is worth the money.

Superb biryani, have been a fan since 2010 when they opened their first outlet. Taste has definitely improved and that too for good. Always the default choice.
This is my first experience with donne biryani and I liked it. I went to their outlet and ordered for a take away.
Their Mutton biryani has a beautiful balance of spices although I would like to see few more pieces of Mutton.
And for sides I'd ordered Guntur Chicken which I loved. It goes amazingly well with the biryani.
A subtle spiced buttermilk to wash it all down.
Over all experience was quite good. As I said above I'd like it even more if there are few more Mutton pieces in the biryani.

People usually associate Biryani with Andhra , Mughal or Hyderabadi style. Huliyappa's Donne Biryani comes as a fresh change from the already existing types of the immensely tasty rice item.
Donne means big sized cups /bowls made from areca nut palm leaf. (for those who are unaware)
This is a very traditional dish and doesn't taste anything like it's other counterparts. (In a good way!)
This particular Huliyappa's outlet is nestled in a small lane deviating from CBI Road but despite that they have amazing sales. It is a small outlet wherein a few people can stand and eat. Most people get take aways or home delivery. The items they have get sold out in a short span of time. So be quick if you want to grab a bite.
I really like the Biryani. It is not made of Basmati Rice so it looks like puloa/baath. . The rice looks slightly green in colour and is mixed properly therefore you can very well the spices and the masala used in the dish.
They usually do not have ALL the starters in the menu. So I've ended up ordering that day's dish. Their Guntur Chicken and Chilly chicken work as the perfect starters.
There is always scope for improvement :)

I see many people fail to understand that donne biryani is something which is completely different from the Mughlai or Andhra Biryani!, the rice, spices, technique is all different, so its unfair to compare it to the other biryanis.

A traditional karnataka recipe of biriyani does wonders when the meal is served. Amazing taste, drive-u-crazy fragrance. The spiced optimally used, and tastes heavenly. A small place, yet an Ill-definitely-be -back place. A little expensive compared to other Donne biriyani outlets.

Honest Biriyani, decent quantity, sufficient meat pieces and reasonably priced. The biryani is not at "legend" level but definitely way above the average commercial stuff you get elsewhere.
My colleagues and I had visited this place a couple of days back - we tried both the chicken as well as the mutton biriyani and ordered guntur and chilli chicken for sides....The meat was tender and the biriyani as such was flavorful and not very greasy ... the chilli chicken was a little oily -didn't much care of that but the guntur chicken was yummy ... we ended our meal with a glass of chilled buttermilk.
4 Biriyani's, 2 chicken sides, some butter milk and one sprite came up to about Rs 180/- per person.
P.S.- Please DO NOT take any vegetarians with you. The only thing they can eat is egg biriyani :)

My RT nagar friend threw a party last week. We picked up our drinks from Liquor mart and food from Huliyappa's.
He wanted all us to taste a different kind of Biryani called Donne Biryani which is unique to only this place. I would say he exceeded our expectaions.
The biryani was just awesome, spicy and strong. This pairs perfectly with your drinks. We also had a special side dish called Guntur Chicken. Even this was very tasty and different. Only issue with Huliyappa's is, it is a small place and you can easily miss it if you are not carefully looking for it in CBI main road in RT nagar. I wish they open few more branches and make their tasty biryani a bit more accessible to we people in other part of the city.

This was one the best places I could eat an authentic Donne biryani.
The spices added were optimum and was not very oily. The serving is very clean and the place does not look or smell like a typical non veg hotel.
I strongly recommend this place for its unique taste, cleanliness and affordable cost.
Last, don't forget to take the butter milk. It tastes excellent.

Just came back from this restaurant or rather Darshini. Donne Biryani is the main highlight inthe menu...Now this is how it goes... If you are sick of eating hyderabadi biryani or any other, try this out. Donne Biryani at its best. I had chicken biryani, though i felt bit concerned about the quantity, it was sufficient for me in the end.. The rice was well cooked and chicken was fresh. We also had Chilly chicken and it was tasty.. They are keeping the place very neat and tidy. Food for 2 cost upto 250-300.

I'm so glad I found this place! North Bangalore has a few donne biriyani joints but this is the most accessible and perhaps the cleanest that I've spotted. I grabbed lunch here with a friend on a lazy Sunday and came away thoroughly satisfied.
Donne biriyani is typically flavoured with onions and green chillies, and is one of my favourite kinds of biriyani. Huliyappa's does both mutton and chicken versions, and both were robust and delicious, though the rice was just a tad dry for my taste. We also shared a plate of fried chicken kebabs which went well with the biriyani, adding a bit of crunch to each mouthful.
There's not a lot of room to sit down and eat as it's mostly a take-away/delivery place, but you can grab a seat if you're by yourself and not fussy. The food here is very reasonably priced and the premises are pretty clean, and they do a great local biriyani. What more could you ask for? Try it if you're ever in the area or make a detour on your way home from the airport.
Let's not be fooled by the crowded CBI road and the small underground entrance to Huliyappa's, just off the RT Nagar main road. The biryani is light green in colour and comes across as something you'd find at a roadside Dhaba. However, there's much more to it then what meets the eye.
It's mildly spicy and lends a flavour not unlike "A pleasantly spicy Andhra biryani". The raita and shorba (gravy that comes along) goes really well with the rice and makes the perfect combination.
Huliyappa's isn't your average Dine-In place. I suggest that one should either opt for delivery or take away from this place. All in all, a good experience and I'll certain make this a routine Sunday thing.
One area of improvement: They should think about delivering a bit further than the current delivery radius.
