N and I had visited Kitchen of Joy couple of times previously, but only snacked on their samosas, Maggi and chai. Always wanted to try the luchi’s and parathas, so we went for dinner.

We had luchi’s with mutton kosha and mutton egg mughlai paratha. The mutton kosha had a very homely taste without too much of the masalas. We liked both the dishes. I would definitely want go back to try their Kolkata style biryani.

Do try their mishti doi. I love it!

Beautiful British style houses flanked the streets as I walked around the city of Kolkatta, some alive and some abandoned, small and old dilapidated factories amidst residential colonies, reminiscent of the tattered structure left behind post the colonial era, tiny rickety kirana shops, selling groceries and confectionary, Halwai corner shops selling Samosa/Kachori with Jalebi Rabri and Rosogulla, the all-pervasive aroma of mustard fish being cooked in home kitchens in every street, the calm in the air, as opposed to the hustle-bustle of any metro, and the warmth that meets the eye when you talk to a roadside bicycle rider, asking for directions. Beautiful!
I visited Kolkatta for a friend’s wedding celebrations and here was my chance to make it a trip, so we decided to sneak away to close-by Sundarbans, after a couple of days of site-seeing in the city and hogging delicious food at the wedding ceremonies. We hired a cab to go around the city and went to some of the popular destinations including the Victoria Memorial, New Market, crossed the Howrah bridge, which rattled a little, ate delicious sweets and drank Kesar Tea at the famous Sharma Tea House.
I would love to visit and spend more time in this amazing city, lots of trivia to explore and a dash of history everywhere.
Site-seeing was followed by a couple of days of frenzy with the many ceremonies and it came of course with yummy scrumptious meals, that were cooked with a lot of love. The caterer was a family friend and we got the tastiest food one could ask for. The wedding was a lot of fun, we are friends with both the bride and the groom, but the warmth of the bride’s family that hosted us was remarkable. It felt like being at home. There was a lot of chit-chat with close friends and cousins, late night talking and singing.
Soon after the wedding celebrations were over, we snuck away to the Sundarbans for a three-day wildlife tour. There is an unsettling calm in the mangroves, serene, yet spooky.
It was refreshing to spend time in the dead calm of the mangroves, we stayed at a wildlife resort at the bank of the river. The smell of the damp forest after the monsoon, was endearing.
These memories are etched in my mind, and I remember the beautiful, busy city and the street aroma, time and again. My visit to ‘Kitchen of Joy’ stirred up the scent of Kolkatta in my memories, as this beautiful aroma engulfed me when I entered the tiny eatery. A small and a bit inconspicuous place, you would miss it if you are driving by, tiny tables squeezed into a small space to seat as many hungry souls as possible. I took one of the two-seater tables and gazed at the menu. The menu is friendly for small eaters like me, there are combos that you could pick if you don’t have a big appetite or you are by yourself. I ordered a Chicken Kosha with a single Parantha and allowed myself some space to bite into a samosa and a fish cutlet as well.
The Samosa was small, and freshly fried. It’s a good Bengali Samosa, and I will eat it again. Not too oily or spicy, a nice flaky pastry cover and a well-balanced spicy potato filling. I finished it before I knew it. The fish cutlet was also decent, nice flavor. The Chicken Kosha arrived soon with a Parantha, and I devoured it as I was quite hungry. The gravy was flavorful, and the Chicken was well cooked, not the best Kosha I have tasted, but pretty darn good for Bangalore availability. I finished my meal with a Rosogulla, which is traditional. A Bengali meal is not complete without a Rosogulla. It was soft and melt-in-mouth, a tad bit sweet, but that’s ok. Satisfied without burning a hole in my pocket, I drove back home.
The eatery is run by a lady, who was personally there to oversee the operations. I personally know that, after running a café myself for a few years. A restaurant is like a watched pot, it can boil over if not managed personally. So, kudos to her for being able to serve humble Bengali food unvarnished, in a busy commercial hub like Indira Nagar, which boasts of some of the biggest brands and restaurants in the city. Amidst this gaggle of eateries, Kitchen of Joy shines like a beacon for the hungry and the modest. I wish I was close-by to hop into your Kitchen with Joy, every now and then!

Been a regular for many years now. This is my go-to place for chai & samosa , be it masala tea or salty lebu cha. Ample food and snack options for vegetarians, although the non-veg must be great given the number of orders they get. Despite being a tiny, hole-in-the-wall kinda cafe, you will see many Bengali families enjoying food here. So my guess is the taste is authentic. Sometimes you will even spot a local celebrity or two, hidden in plain sight. It’s a very no-nonsense place with tasty food and snacks, quick and polite service. Kishore da music is soothing in the background. Pop culture posters bring the place to life. My only complaint is the smell of the mosquito repellent coils is overwhelming at times. Better to switch to natural repellents if possible.

A perfect place if you are a bong and have an addiction for adda and looking for a place to reminisce so. The decors are nice and cozy and is at par with the kind of street type cafe u can associate in Kolkata. Some pics to prove the same. The food was also quite nice n decent. We ordered

Mughlai Paratha: Nice crispy fried layered flour over marinated pieces of meat chunk n egg,the catch was though it was fried it was still very less oily compared to actual muhglai Paratha s

Luchi Ghugni: A traditional Bangali combo . The luchi was adorable and Ghugni was really like that we prepare in our home

Mutton biryani: The meat pieces were quite juicy n tender . Just wished the biryani had a tad bit more masala and ittar so that it could have tasted a bit better

Rosogolla langcha misti doi: A bong meal is never complete without the traditional mishti s. The doi though I felt was a bit old and started smelling a bit.

All in all a good n satisfying experience. Roadside seated cafe with bengali decor n traditional bong snacks in Bangalore weather is a deadly combination

😎😁🙂

Coming to the food, I have tried a lot of things here - Egg Devil, Chicken Cutlet, Biriyani, Luchi Alur Dom, Tea, Samosa, all of them are pretty good. Overall this place gives me very happy vibes, and I will definitely keep visiting this.

A small hole in the wall place that plays old hindi songs from a caravan and serves some of Kolkata’s favourite dishes. An ideal place to grab a snack and tea in the monsoons.
The kheema paratha and Maggi is a crowd favourite here, we tried the chicken roll and it was a bit dry. But what won us over was the Rosogolla and Gulab jamun.. it was delicious, tasted very authentic and it’s not something that you’ll find anywhere else in the area. Will go back just for this.
The price is pocket friendly too.

Not always you come across food joints that makes a place in your heart. Bringing the piece of your home to your plate. As the name suggests kitchen of joy comes from city of joy. Not only did this place suffice a craving that I was having for Mughlai paratha but also gave me a bonus of the best Kolkata biryani at Bangalore. Superb food and quirky atmosphere makes you feel completely overwhelmed and feel at home. Small place yet well planned. Menu is good choices are great. But would be better if they consider their pricing as it's a bit on higher side especially for starters. All in all a superb hidden gem that i found to my liking and highly recommended.

I am a regular to this place especially when it rains. It's a cute lil shack sort of place serving up some awesome Bengali cuisine. Following are my favorites,
1. Deviled egg chop - This is an absolute delight. A hard boiled egg coated with seasoned mashed potatoes and bread crumbled and deep fried. Now that's a winner. Served with red onions and mustard sauce ( kasundi) it's a must have in the bangalore rains with chai.
2. Their tea varieties are very good. The quantity too big, you might wanna order a 1/2 for a regular serving.
3. Mughlai Paratha - This is served with dum aloo. The piping hot paratha with eggs is done just right.
4. Luchi and Ghugni- A simple dish done right. Although the qty of ghugni might be a tad bit less.
5. Rosugulla and Lemcha - The sweets are good but not to qualify that bengali standard. But decent ones.

It's a small and open outlet right on Indiranagar double road. Literally a hole in the wall. Great place to sit unless it's a hot afternoon!

Lots of old school Bengali options! I've been here multiple times because of the liking of some colleagues and I recommend -
- Bun Omlette
- Biryani
- Cutlets
- The dal-egg dish with roti (apparently very nostalgia inducing for people who grew up in East India lol)
- Ginger lime, masala come

Reasonable prices and fast service. I think there can be a couple of table fans though. It gets hot and uncomfortable in the afternoon.

Lagncha, rosogulla, kosha mangsho and mughlai parotha.

Kitchen of Joy, Indiranagar, Bangalore is amazing!

Tiny restaurant on a street with just a few tables, one gets the first glimpse of how popular this restaurant is by seeing how they have put tables even in cornors because they must be getting that many walk-ins.

Interior is bangla-bollywood themed. Old classic tracks are continuously played on Saregama Caravan and that just lifts your mood to another level. It lacks little light and some more brightness in the store will be appreciated and extremely welcoming.

Food is where they win hands down. I haven't tasted such good food at such reasonable prices anywhere I've been. We ordered Chicken Cutlet (₹110) , Aaloo Chops (₹50) as our starters and they arrived without much delay. Served with some sliced onion and a, range of sauces like tamoto, mustard, chilli, tamarind etc., Chicken Cutlet was very tasty. A little more tighter meat would had been better but it went very well with mustard sauce. Aaloo Chops are potato pattices which tasted very much like the vada of Vada Pav. Moving on, I ordered Chicken Makhni Paratha (₹170) which is served with some lightly spiced boiled potatoes. Bengalies love thier potatoes apprantly. Also ordered Aalo Dum Paratha (₹130) again served with some sliced onions. It was pretty basic. But that's exactly what you expect from Aalo Dum. All in all I was very impressed with the food.

The search for "Moghlai Paratha" in Bengaluru paved our way to Kitchen of Joy. What struck me first is that the outlet is severely cramped for space - so much so that the tables encroach upon the pavement. The zany interiors though lighten the mood and keep you entertained while you  wait for the food.

We had
Mutton Egg Moghlai Paratha 4/5
Chicken Egg Moghlai Paratha 5/5 - The chicken moghlai has better flavours and is seasoned better.
Langcha 3/5 - Too sweet and dense for my liking.

Slobbering Genie's Verdict :
Food 4/5
Ambiance 3.5/5
Service 3.5/5
VFM 3/5 - I find the outlet to be a tad overpriced vis a vis the food and ambiance on offer.

SGV - 3.7/5 I will perhaps go back for more of the Moghlai paratha and to sample the biryani.

Great !

So when I was taken by one of my Bong Friend to this place , I was shaken by the thought of eating everything cooked in Mustard Oil.

Here I stop and Ask you to Rethink ! This is real Kitchen of Joy for people who are not so gango about Mustard oil cooking !
Infact the dish authenticity certified by mostly Bong friends of mine - Conclude the dishes and receipes to be on dot !

Mughalai Paratha - Must try if you are here / Mutton / Chicken / Egg , They have all covered and After having each one of them , I should say they stand on the same podium for me .

Try out there Luchi with Potato serving , Which can be a good change from the food we have everyday

Alur Dum - Yet another thing to get hold of .

Last but not the least Lebu Chai - This is a real Star and standout for the place to make me come back again .

A must try for a foodie who would be excited to quiz the taste buds , Not to mention the sweet deserts waiting at the end of grub journey you can have here

Cheers

Now there are too many options as eateries for Bengalis in Bangalore. But what they lack is quality and authenticity. Fortunately Kitchen of Joy is not one of them. It is not any 5-star restaurant but a small cafe where you can hang out with friends and also take your family along with you. The interior gives you nostalgia of bong childhood. And the food menu has been critically designed for both snacks and dinner. Like mughlai paratha and bakery biscuits with ginger tea for a Sunday supper while a plate of mutton biriyani with potato and egg for special lip-smacking dinner. Price is reasonable and the bong owners host the guests with special warmth. Do give it a visit sometime and feel the happiness of getting regional food at your workplace.

Knowing that there is a Bengali joint in Indiranagar triggered us to com here.Being a Bengali we were so excited to visit this place and indeed they kept our expectations

We ordered:
1. Luchi with chicken kasa
2. Mutton Biryani with aloo
3. Chicken mughlai paratha
4. Chicken cutlet
5. Roshogolla
6. Langcha

1. Luchi mangsho was sooo tasty and yummy but the chicken could have been more spicy but still they tasted heavenly. They served us good chicken pieces.

2. Next comes Mutton biriyani. The mutton and so tender and soft and biriyani had a aloo in it which indeed stole our heart.

3. Chicken mughlai paratha was very thin but it was tasty and was served with aloo curry( Kolkata style)

4. Chicken cutlet was good but it could have been better if instead of minced chicken they would have given whole chicken piece.

5. Roshogolla and langcha was undoubtedly great

Food :5/5
Ambience: 4/5(as this is a small road side joint)
Value for money :3.5/5( To me this place was a little bit pricey)

The cafe sits right aside the road, giving it a good visibility. The place, small yet lively gives out the bengali take to a chai corner. The menu greets you with a variety of with and without milk chais and some of the most authentic simple snacks to munch on while you sip your doze of divine.
Strolled there on a mundane weekday noon for a tea, and I am glad I discovered this simple yet enthralling cafe. Tried the ginger chai and the Darjeeling chai- both of them- up to the mark in colour and taste.
Almost perfect chai tag for a non-milk beverage I'would say.
Recommended both- for ambience and Cha!

|| Love for Bengali Food ||

Last saturday I was dead sick and was not eating much since days. So at last I thought to treat myself with Bengali Food so that I could feel a bit better, if not health wise than at least mood wise 😂

Ambience: So i won't call this place a proper resturant as it has only 6-8 tables in total considering both the inside and outside area. But its very relaxing to sit there and wait for the Bengali Food to arrive. Its reminds of College time when we used to visit small places which serves good food.

Staff: The staff is sweet and quick. No complains on this part.

Food: In food we ordered Chicken Egg Moghlai Paratha, Luchi-Chicken Combo and Langcha. I was literally having Moghlai paratha after 3-4 years. I just loved it. It made me miss my West Bengal days. The Luchi combo was also great. Chicken was delicious. And the Langcha perfectly satisfied my sweet tooth craving.

So this place is worth visiting if you want to relax and have Bengali Food.

In one word-YUM! I'm a regular at Kitchen of Joy and have a standard order of Paneer roll and masala coke and its never failed me. Consistently yummy, I usually devour the roll before I remember to take a picture but this time I promised myself. The space is small but homely. It's always got beautiful old Hindi songs playing there.
The service is with a smile and quick. For one paneer roll, one egg mushroom roll, a masala coke and one egg cheese maggi, the bill came to Rs.419 which is pretty decent for a place at Indiranagar. Always satisfying, Kitchen of Joy feels like coming back home or well coming back home to Kolkata. While waiting for your order you can also amuse yourself with the various art pieces around the restaurant. I promise you this one will have you coming back for more.

Got home-delivered Mutton Biryani one fine day, and found it to be rather close to the Calcutta style biryani. My only grudge was that the rice was a little stale and could do with a little more flavor. The mutton pieces (two of them) were good and not primarily bones. Worth it for 220 bucks paid. Yet to try their other items except the tea, which for 40 bucks is over-expensive imo.

Every bong craving for their rolls or mughlai must visit this place. Preparing mughlai parotha with all layers and the filling inside is an art. And when u get a near to perfect mughlai sitting in Bangalore u can be anything but happy and grateful. Parotha was accompanied with the alu dom which was just yummy and some raw onion.

Ambiance is good as u see quirky decor items hanging in the walls but sitting is cramped as this place is always crowded.

Definitely would go back for their Kolkata style biryani and fish cutlet and chops..

Taste wise very good, luchi & aaloo dum was yummy. One thing i want to say please send some gravy along with aaloo dum. When we eat at the outlet they give good amount of gavy on aaloo, i was expecting the same when i orderd for home delivery but did not get even a half spoon of gravy. Quantity of luchi was also not there as per my order. So overall taste was good but did not get the proper quantity which i was expecting.

This place gives me a nostalgic feel because of the 5/5 Calcutta theme. Small joint but big enough to give you "Kolkata" true feeling. Lemun Chai is best thing here along with the parathas. Ambience is very good and pocket friendly snack outlet.

Excellent restaurant. Taste Bengali snacks here, specially try rolls, luchi, alur chop, ghugni. Price is a bit expensive. Interior decoration is wonderful (however earlier it was more beautiful I guess).

Yes, indeed this is Kitchen of Joy. Awesome ambience followed by delicious food, Tried out their Fish fry, Luchhi & Aloo Dum, Chicken Biryani, Rosogolla - Langcha and Masala Chai. Only Masala Chai could have been bit better rest everything was great and doesn't cut down ones pocket too much.

Ordered Bong Styled Mutton Biryani from Kitchen of Joy, Indiranagar.

Neat packing, decent biryani with a nice big Aloo piece. Had 2 neat pieces of mutton. Was accompanied with Raita and Salan(this Salan was way below expectation)

Quaint little place that doesn't hit your pocket. My pick was the chick pea gugni and wheat paratha.alsi the masala omelette. The alu dum was oily.

Cutlet and the team was pretty content about the fish and chicken. Tea with rock salt was also good.

Things to work on - that rossogolla was heavy and thick, very unlike I have tasted and definitely needs some work.

My go to place for ‘cha’, singara and adda. This is a very small eatery modelled around the road side tea-stalls of Bengal. One of the best places in Bangalore to try finger and fast foods of Kolkata. I have been visiting this place for the last 9 years and the quality has been consistent. The owners and staff are very courteous, polite and kind. If you are visiting in the evenings I would advise you to carry some odomos. While they would put some mosquito coil, fumes from the coil might bother some and the odomos can come handy.

Visiting this place from 2018…. So I hope you can note from it that this is a good place. Specially if you like Alur Dom( Kolkata style) 😋 So what I generally order here or tested… 🍱 Alur Dom with Fulka or Paratha or Luchi (preferred with Wheat Paratha) Fresh Lime Soda Double Egg Roll Aloo Roll Cold coffee Aloo Bun Tea Ghugni Coffee All of the above item taste yumm… but yes Aloo Bun is not value for money. While rest are priced reasonably. Though you may find it costly if you have not visited many place in Bangalore 😂

This place serves kolkata street foods such as Mughlai paratha, ghugni, luchi chicken kosha, misthi doi... food taste is really good and the owner is freindly. This place opens at 12:00 hrs and stay open toll mid night. Con: Little pricey, very small, lot of mosquitoes after sunset. Also parking is a issue if you are coming with 4 wheeler.

A nice place to have lunch and dinner. The seating capacity is low but the food is finger licking good. A must try restaurant for people living in Indira Nagar as well as Bangalore. The taste and flavours are next level. I will recommend Luchi and chicken kosha with hot chocolate.

A small restaurant for Bengali cuisine in Indiranagar. Menu is limited and I found more snack items in the menu. Maincouse items are less. Food is good. Decently priced items.

The world has changed around Indiranagar but Kitchen of Joy is still the same and it feels great going for a quick magggi or got chocolate. The prices may seem little over as to keep up to the real estate. It's a small place and can't hold multiple groups.

on a summer rainy evening with kishore da old hindi songs in the background along with good, spicy food is my memory of this place. May be a lil bit pricey for the quality, quantity of the food and the service they provide. But if you liked the place, ambience you will want to come here again n again.

A visit to Kitchen of Joy in Indiranagar is a delightful escapade into the essence of Bengali cuisine, encapsulated in their Chicken Moghlai Paratha. The modest roadside setup with limited seating is juxtaposed against the captivating wall clocks that add a unique charm. Though the place gets quite bustling. I'll recommend it for people having liking of Bengali Cuisine.

We visited the place on drizzling evening. We ordered fish fry, chicken cutlet, fish chop and mutton roll. The fish fry was exquisitely done, the chicken cutlet had a nice texture. Mutton roll had the same tenderness. Overall experience was awesome. The courteous behaviour and welcoming nature of management urges you to visit this place again and again. Full marks to the food and ambience.
