Go-to place for home sick Konkani people. For starters, the sambar reminded me of the sambar I had slurped off plantain leaves during the temple feasts in Karkala. Bangaloreans used to lack-lustre restaurant sambar will be in for a surprise...Namma Kudla sambar has vegetables!!! not just insipid remnants of what might have been a vegetable once upon a time.
The undis were surprisingly soft...it's not easy to nail that texture. Do try their phagila phodi - that's a specialty. The ghasis and chutney - were cooked to Konkan perfection. Basically everything that we ordered screamed HOME! Thank you!
South Indian cuisine, mangalore veg food, a different style of food, must try, a good experience, refreshment
One of the most authentic places with mangalorean veg breakfast options. The kotte and moode are rear to find in Bangalore and on a daily basis. Parking hassles in the area.
My favorite place to hog some lipsmacking Mangalore food.
Mangalore buns-so fluffy and tasty. Must try.
Pathrode- been having this since my childhood and I will assure you that you will fall in love with this dish. Perfectly done.
Surnoli-a kind of Indian pancake popular among konkani community. This was perfectly made with right amount of sweetness and puffiness.
Kashi halwa- this was so delectable.
Good joint.. Love going over this place again and again.. They have a good variety of dosas, thalis and snacks..
I have eaten different things at different times..
They have a roti thali.. Which has 4 different kinds of vegetables, dahi, a sweet dish, 1 roti, 1 bowl of rice, papad, achar, all for a reasonable price.
Also they prepare a sweet kind of bun.. Per place 2 pieces..
Will keep on posting the various food items as and when I taste from this food joint.
Kewp up the lovely work of keeping the customers belly happy π
Namma Kudla is the go to restaurant for authentic Mangalorean, Karwar, Konkani cuisine. The dishes are authentic and esoteric and a whole different set of flavors than your usual fare.
It is a takeaway restaurant. Remember to Take your own boxes for the takeaway.
Dishes are sold by the quantity.
This place serves quite authentic Mangalorean Dishes.. And they have quite an interesting manglorean menu. Been having in this place for a while! ππ
Have had buns, Kotte idli, jackfruit idli, khara avalakki and neer Dosa.. but for personally neer Dosa is good in new Krishna Bhavan! ππ
They have good biscot rotti which is all costal cuisine.
If you wanna try Mangalorean eatables.. this is the place to in Malleshwaram! Cost effective as well! π
This place was something of a surprise. This is probably the only place in Malleshwaram which serves exclusively Mangalorean Vegetarian Cuisine. (No tandoori roti or paneer like lotta other so-called South Indian restaurants).
I have tried almost everything off the menu and loved every single thing. This place serves the best sambar in Malleshwaram.
I recommend people from other parts of Karnataka to try this restaurant and get the feel of really authentic mangalorean food. Especially the famous Neer dose, Semige and Buns.
A basic take away with minimal seating serving pure Mangalorean food, you won't find these options at this price and taste anywhere else..
Their khottes (idlis in jackfruit leaf) is my favourite breakfast item
Namma Kudla Pure Veg
(A mangaluru & Konkani style Restaurant.)
I have tasted kotte kadubu and otthu shavige from here.
Kotte kadubu are super soft aromatic food made by steaming idli batter in stitched jackfruit leaves.
This is an auspicious breakfast in udupi and mangaluru region popular breakfast in many south indian homes.
.
I found this place in search of some kerala food, never the less I found something similar to my food taste. The ambiance is just perfect, that it felt like i m in mangalore.
Must try restaurant with vivid menu, a refreshing food to refresh the usual routine.
Crowded during weekends, but worth for every penny you spend here. . .

One of the best place I have had a meals and at affordable price. Not a very fancy place just a small eatery, they offer Mangalore cuisine (veg) I always have, thali here which is very different from the normal darshini style. The place will be bit crowded during lunch hours. Definitely value for moneyππ highly recommend ππ
Having origins in this part of India, I was only too happy to find Namma Kudla, a pure veg eatery serving Mangalorean cuisine. Just reading the menu brought back so many memories and a wave of nostalgia washed over me. After years in Europe and now back in India, it was time to indulge in Kudla cuisine!
I read that the ambiance wasnβt much, and there isnβt much seating as well. Thatβs ok, because the focus will fall mainly on the food. I first had the Kotte Idli, which is made wrapped in jackfruit leaves. The Sambar they served was delectable! The chutney was good too, but the Sambar was the best in Malleshwaram! Though quite full, I had a single Mangalore bun after that. Iβm guessing it would have tasted much better when it was hot. Still, I liked the flavour and consistency. And the meal was washed down with Kokum Juice, a perfect ending!
Service is fast and prices are friendly. Good honest food from Mangalore that left me wanting much more. Canβt wait to be back to try all the other items !
Namma kudla is a pure veg restaurant located on temple street between 8th and 10th cross, Malleshwaram. It's known for serving delicious Mangalorean/Konkani food.
Ambiance:
-Very limited inner and outer seating.
-Cleanly maintained.
Service:
-Self service: get what you want in -For those of you coming here for take-away-> get your own containers.
Food:
-Uppit: Tastes decent but I'd prefer it anyday without onions.
-Idly-vada: not bad
-Mini meals: Comprising of delicious vegetable sambar(huli), rasam which for me was a little sweet, rice, curd, pickle, papad and vegetable curry(palya).
-Ganji oota: Comprising of hot ganji(boiled rice) made of Kocchige rice with pickles, papad and vegetable curry. I was full and happy by the end:) Also, this is only available after 7.30 P.M.
-Kashaya: Popular drink made of some spices and herbs in coastal Karnataka for cold/cough. As I already had been coughing, this was a great relief and tasted as good as home-made one.
-Kashi halwa: Perfect end to our meal, loved this one!
Must try: ganji oota, kashaya, kashi halwa
Conclusion:
-Healthy food at pocket friendly prize. A must try for those from South Karnataka who are missing home food.
-Will definitely go back again and again to try more items.

Fluffy grainy khotto (kottige/kadubu β idlis made in jackfruit leaves cups) and melt in your mouth biscuit ambade (vada without hole) along with sajjige-bajil or rulam (uppittu) with spicy poha. If you are Konkani staying away from home, you will fervently wish this place was close to where you stay so you can enjoy a homely breakfast every morning.
Mangalore has many names β Kudla in Tulu, Kodial in Konkani, Maikala in Beary, Mangalooru in Kannada, Kodeyaala in Havyaka, Mangalapuram in Malayalam, Manjarun in Sanskritβ¦.if you find any of the above in a restaurant name, it means that restaurant serves Mangalorean foodπ. If I am not mistaken, this place was appropriately called Sona Kodial earlier as this is a Konkani food place. Possibly to reach a bigger base, they have now renamed it as Namma Kudla and the ambience is also refreshed. Sona Kodial was an awesome place that had authentic Konkani curries and fresh pickles sold over the counter. But it was too far for me to take advantage. As far as I know, there are only 3 places in Bangalore serving Konkani food. The other two are Coastal Mama and Kanua, but this is the only place serving an authentic Konkani breakfast (some of the Mangalorean owned darshinis do serve a few of the items that are common to all Mangaloreans).
Loved our breakfast items and the chutneys served. All were exceptionally good, even the uppittu/upma which I donβt fancy outside. One good things is that we were there for an early breakfast and ate things fresh off the steamer/kadai. The Konkani version of neer dosa (panpolo) and pundi (undi) is different in that there is more fresh coconut used with rice. The menu seems to have many authentic Konkani breakfast items and sweetsβ¦do try. I could only try the above mentioned four items plus coffee, tea. All good. Loved it. Hope to try the other breakfast items and the meals soon.
The 5* is because our food was particularly fresh and tasty since we there at the right time ...8am. Most things are meant only to be eaten fresh.Β So if someone is eating the same Khotto at 12 pm, she/he may not get the best taste of it. Go here at the early breakfast and early lunch timings.
Go here for an authentic Mangalorean cuisine. Small place but the food is amazing. Very supportive staff. Down to earth prices. I'm a regular here for their fish curry meals and kori roti.
One of my favorite places in Bangalore. Amazing Mangalorean food at very reasonable prices. Their meals is must try if you are going in the afternoon or late evening. Additionally they have lots of snacks throughout the day. You just can't visit this place once.
Namma Kudla is a popular breakfast and snacks joint located on 8th Cross Temple Road, Malleshwaram. They specialize in Mangalorean and Konkani food. We tried pathrode, kotte kadubu, surnali and kashaya.
Pathrode is a kind of snacks prepared using rice and colocasia (arbi/kochu) leaves, it was tasty but I would have preferred to have it hot. πππ
Kotte kadubu is a variation of idli made in jackfruit leaves cup which adds a distinct aroma to it. πππππ
Surnali is a Konkani style fluffy, spongy rice pancake sweetened by jiggery. ππππ
Kashaya is a mixture of Indian spices and natural herbs, stirred with hot milk. It is considered as a healthy concoction. πππ
Overall I liked the place, price is reasonable. There are many other varieties of food available at Namma Kudla and I plan to try them in future.
A very unique breakfast place in the city.. serving only mangalorean & konkani snacks and breakfast items. I tried their pathrode, kotte kadubbu & surnali. Surnali is like pancakes with jagerry and it is very fluffy. The pathrode is basically colocasia leaves snack item. Kotte kadubbu are rice dumplings steamed in jackftuit leaves and is superb in taste. The chutney tasted amazing. My friend loved the Kashaya. They have a variety of other items. Would love to try their Mangalore buns someday. Pricing is very cheap.
Best authentic place to have manglorean food... Very neat and price is also very affordable... Car parking is a bit tuff since it's a main locality... Try the manglorean bun which is very tasty
Hidden gem in the city for authentic Mangalorean and Konkani style vegetarian breakfast options. Would recommend their Pathrode (Colocasia leaves stuffed with rice flour and spices), Kotte Kadubu (idli wrapped in jackfruit leaves) & Jeejjuge fry (rava fried breadfruit). Pricing is extremely reasonable. Would love to come back again to try their Kashaya & Surnali.
One of the best Mangalore and Kudla restaurant in town! Small yet amazing menu they have. Owner is also friendly and he speaks in tulu too. Must try dishes are Neer dose, patrode, meals and Kashi halwa.
If you had tooo much junk food and oily food before and you said to yourself I am done, then itβs time to visit this place.. This place makes you remember Home food and you feel good and inwardly pure after having food... Very delicious homely food and less cost.. Itβs very authentic and traditional Konkani style cuisine you would love to explore.. My favourites here which I will describe in Konkani are panpolo, pathroda, poha, biscuit Wada, Kashi khsera.. Definitely worth trying here...Meals are also stomach full and less budget...
I love this place ..I have tried neer dose ,patrode, kotte kadbu, biscuit rotti and jackfruit kadbu during the season.. it also serves other dakshina Kannada and konkani style food items ..mavina hannina curry was so yumπ
Had seen this outlet several times while passing by 8th cross and 10th cross and wanted to try it out since long.....
Tried their Kadabu... 2 small kadabu's perfectly wrapped in traditional leaves. Tasted wonderful
Mangalore buns with the sagu were perfect and filling..not the hollow ones u get cheated for..
Need dosa was excellent and the right taste which just melts in your mouth...
Heserubele dosa is heavy and has a different whacky taste to it.
Kashaya was an amazing blend and a wonderful health drink on the palate.
Kokum juice is all you need for this summer... It's mesmerizingly cool and loved it.
Seating can be sparse at times but the device is quick.... Can get hot inside.. so suggest you to sit outside...
Couldn't try the pathrode and jackfruit idli.. though I've heard it good.
Definitely worth a visitfoe those who wish to entertain their palates with a twist to your regular south Indian fare.
A must try for breakfast and Karnataka coastal dishes. Best Veg eatout. Very friendly and polite service.
must try items:
Neer Dosa
Mangalore Buns
Brinjal Pakoda
Koppa Idli
worth every penny. extreme light on pocket and worth a visit
Probably *the* place for amchigele food in Bangalore. The food is extremely delicious, full of amchi flavour; the portions are quite generous and the menu is quite relevant. I'm told the stuff on the meals/thali changes every day. The day we visited they had puli-kodel, valshi ambat, chana ghashi, kuwale sasam, mix upkari, kotla nonche and rasam. We also had a piece of patrode, some majjige and kokum juice. Full marks.
For all the amchis reading this review, please note that the food is of the vaaldik/devasthana/teru variety and not the stuff we cook at home; not that it's a bad thing. They even have pejje (ganji) jevan after 7:30 in the evening. The menu uploaded here on Zomato is actually their catering menu and not all of it is available to eat at the restaurant (I was really keen on trying their song and valval).
Do not miss.
One of the few places serving authentic Mangalore style/Konkani cuisine in Bangalore. A small outlet with self service, this place serves vegetarian breakfast, meals as well as snacks at very affordable prices. Good quality food and authentic homely taste. A must visit for all the Konkani and Mangalore people.
Mondays are holiday
Must try: pathrode
5 stars to this place for serving some excellent Mangalore and konkani vegetarian delicacies. Must try dishes are kotte idli, Mangalore buns, avalakki ( not a bath dish but more like nylon chiwda). I saw a lot of people order thali rather meals even at night so I guess the thali is pretty good as well. A hidden gem in malleswaram where there are too many legendary places that it is easy to miss a place like this. Highly recommended.
This place makes the best quality food! The best mangalorean veg food and the southern style. I love the ner dosa! Mangalore sweet buns. almost tried every single food here! every food is greater then other, just like a home food. Itβs very clean and safe to eat.
Decent crowd, most of them are from Bangalore. Nice to see actual bangaloreans people out here.
In case you are looking for authentic Mangalore food, this is the place. You get almost all variety of Mangalore vegetarian food including buns, ambade, Kotte, pathrode etc. The place is decent and the food is worth the money.
U will either love this place or hate it completely!! Coz this is not for everyone's palate. This is actually Mangalore's food which is made in itz own style and recepies. My mom's favourite here which is the only thing I like here is neer dosa made really well along with Mangalore buns which is also a speciality here. Other items are strictly for people who enjoy Mangalore style veg food and not otherwise recommended. My mom likes pathrode here which is again spicy and leafy kind. Not for everyone but ya if u are very experimental.. Go for it. Also try ganji oota which is just boiled rice when u really want to give Ur stomach a break from regular food.
Perfect place for having Mangalore Vegetarian dishes. 60Rs for a delicious meal is totally a worth.
Each and every dish tasted very authentic.
They have lot of varieties starting from pathrode to shavige and many more authentic dishes from Mangalore.
Restaurant is quite small and decently maintained.
I would strongly recommend this place for a toothsome lunch if you are around Malleshwaram.
Loved the food here - from Mangalore buns to Biscuit ambode to sunrnali and Authentic Konkani thali- steal for the price. Love to visit this place again and again ππ»
Great place to have authentic South Kanara Konkani dishes. Amazed that the place has such a wide variety of dishes in the menu covering almost the entire cuisine!
An awesome place to enjoy mangalore vegetarian food. The meal costed 60/- which is a very fair price for the dishes served. Had pathrovade and fruit bread bhajii would have been better if served hot. Kadubu was my favorite.
Small and tidy place. Good food. Very good place for a quick bite and authentic Malnad food.
Thali is reasonable. Don't miss Kashaya (skip coffee).
Been here, had their yummy veg thali... Though small place but serves great comfort food for a value price... Mangalore & Konkani style cuisines. Food was too good and place is clean, as far most of the small places may not be clean always, this was way too impressive
A small outlet serving mlorean and konkani dishes.. I visited here and had thali. The jackfruit ( kadgi)dry gravy was really good.... They also serve snacks like biscoot roti and ambode...Pricing is reasonable.
Namma Kudla is a great place to try simple coastal style food. For just βΉ40/- the ganji oota is a delicious and authentic Mangalorean breakfast experience. The rice gruel is smooth and creamy, the cabbage pallya is flavorful, the shendige are crispy and fluffy, and the pickle is tangy and spicy. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a simple and satisfying meal.
Everyone cannot make perfect Patarvadae.. they make it so good. Even other dishes like Kotte Kadabu, Shavigae and Mangalore Buns everything were good and tasty.
Delicious, fresh, nutritious, & affordable Mangalore cuisine food. I have only tried the breakfast. Will try lunch next.
Best place if you want to try authentic Konkani and Mangalorean style veg food. Seating is little constricted because of limited space but a must visit if you love Kudla food.
Serving the traditional Mangalorean food!
Buns, akki unde, kotte kadubu and ganji are a must try!
I am a regular at this small eatery. I usually take Kadle avalakki, Mosaru Avalkki, neer dose, buns, kotte mainly here. Their kotte is very flavorful. The buns that you get here is more authentic I feel as it is close to the ones you get in Mitra Samaj, Udupi. Overall a small eatery with good Udupi style food at reasonable prices.
This is one of the rare your vegetarian Mangalore style restaurant. They have stopped their legendary buffet. And now serving only ala carte menu. π Yummy.
Authentic "amchigele" food. Tried khotto/chutney/sambar - each stood out and a must try. One will go for multiple serving of the sambar, as it's irresistible. Buns consistency and taste was just perfect! Masala dosa tasted great too.
Seating place is quite limited and parking challenge is a known in this area.
One can choose to pack items too.
Nice little self service Mangalore Restaurant in the basement. It is located below Patanjali Chikitsalay in Malleshwaram.
I loved their breakfast menu.
Awesome veg food, Konkani and coastal style. Very reasonably priced. Tried 7-8 items and all of them turned out to be fabulous.
