Very good food, authentic maratha style mutton dishes
Had been here on a Sunday afternoon... crowded a bit... service was quick and mutiple options... liver fry was very good even mutton fry combo with mudde was good.... chily chicken not upto mark i felt
.. also little high side on cost i felt...
The food was hot, fast, plentiful, and delish. Really loved my experience. Surya was an excellent server. I’m a Kolhapuri Mutton Thali fan so it took a little getting used to the ragi mudde, and lack of bhakri (joladu roti) but I’m definitely going to go back again. I had Mutton Fry, Chilly Chicken, Kaima, and everything tasted so good.
Great meals at affordable prices.
Super amazing food and very good staff. I expected it to be very spicy but i was completely wrong and the food was subtle and absolutely flavourful. The mutton had was super tender unlike anywhere else. Must try when around Vasanthnagar.
I had the most delicious lunch at this place. Tasted Mutton chops, Kheema balls, Nati chicken curry, Chilli chicken and Ragi mudde. Every dish was spot on! Great flavours and amazing tastes.
Excellent service and decently priced. Really recommend to give it a go.
This is the place where you can get your meat cravings settled.. menu is very crisp but almost everything you get here is mouthwatering#must try mutton thali
Friendly Owner, who just loves to talk to his customers and attracts them towards his menu. Menu is filled with some Scrumptious dishes with heavenly taste. Chicken thali, mutton thali stands out and chicken 65 be their best item, look out for some amazing khaima as well. Ambience could be better, but it is always buzzing with people and crowded, do try out thalis next time parking your vehicle ia one hurdle but you can manage.
A small old joint yet cleaner than regular military hotels and tastes more like home cooked food(medium spicy thou)...weekdays it is too crowded and on Sundays it is easy to find a seat.
Mutton oota with Ragi mudde is a good combo 😋
I didn’t like naati koli saaru that much.
Very reasonable and absolute value for the buck... Give it a try 👍

Good food special mutton fry and chicken 65 is a must try the mutton pieces were cooked to perfection i don't recommend chicken biryani here may be mutton would be good but was not available when i went. price was reasonable and service was supper quick.
Good food special mutton fry and chicken 65 is a must try the mutton pieces were cooked to perfection I don't recommend chicken biryani here maybe mutton would be good but was not available wen I went. Overall 4.3stars and yeah try the butter milk atlast
Hidden old gem. There mutton khurma thali is just perfect with the spice. There are very less option for vegetarians. And the butter milk just after the meal is just awesome
The best place to have chilly chicken with Raagi mudde
I just loved it
Very well maintained
Small place but taste is so good that you will start visiting it very often
Truly a hidden gem for reasonable yet delicious food. Their mutton and naati chicken meals are simply a joy to eat. Small place yet well-maintained with quick service on offer. Go now!
Had tough time locating this place.. Small place.. But just awesome and tasty food.. Had the mutton keema meal.. Mouth watering.. And beware the crowd is heavy in the noon..
Keema curry is amazing and chicken kebabs were super crispy from out.
Mudde was perfectly made.
Place is small but cleanly maintained.
Must visit this place
I can completely go gaga over this place. Nothing fancy about the ambience, but amazingly tasty food.
Don't forget to try their mutton curry - fresh and tender mutton and very yummy spices. Have it with rice or ragi mudde.
Also, one more thing to be noted about this place which is it's very clean and the kitchen looks very hygienic.
Visited this establishment with a senior colleague of mine. An amazing place to have authentic food..
Must Try: Any of the meals. Chicken Curries.
Portions: Good.
Price: Fair and affordable.
Crowd: Forget the crowd...just go belt food there.
Service: Self Service.
Visiting again?. Definitely. Quality food and Prices..
Yummy and cheap food. There is no provision for sitting, yet a visit here is worth.
You can have nice Marathi food here, especially mutton dish.
Hold your horses, Leonidas. Lets have a ragi muddhe and mutton meals here. I heard they serve one of the best in the south. Hai sirf 300 log, marna toh he hi. Kuch accha kaa ke to marenge. Xerxes di maa di.
On a serious note, guys give it a try. It is pocket friendly too.
My friend took me to this place. Small, neat and tidy place. Restaurant serves one of the best local cuisine, Nati style aka desi style mouth watering food.
They don't accept credit card, no tissue paper, no tap to wash hand. Real desi style.
I went with my uncle once, it's a very small and traditional place. The food was very nice specially mutton curry it was delicious. They serve water in copper lota and they don't accept cards.
we sure enjoyed good food here, will definitely go back!!
My cousin took me here for lunch.I had no idea about this place. Its small mess kind. They have service in the first floor. At self service area in the ground floor, there are a couple of tables. One can find newspaper cuttings instead of tissue. They serve non veg and veg thali's only.
The mutton curry is great.Except the mutton curry, rest is normal. The mutton liver chops was good but tasted slightly bitter.Would definitely go back for the mutton curry.
Order: ragi mudde and chilli chicken. Rasam and gravy came with it | Service: quick, courteous and neat | Ambience: clean | Taste: yum yum yum yum yum
A traditional place something like a mess serving lip smacking non-veg/veg thali food...Place split on 2 levels -on 1st floor around 4 tables with 16-18 pax capacity and ground floor just benches ...very sad on ambience..very very dirty place BUT BUT the food is do YUMMMMMMM...
Try the nonvegetarian thali with Ragi ball or chapathi, rice and chicken/mutton curry...it is do delicious.Cooked in Marathi style...run by s family with a lady also chipping in to help during serving...
The place is too crowded at peak hours, order all at once..service very quick and efficient...
Liquor not allowed...Credit/Debit card NOT ACCEPTED...
Parking limited to 2 wheeler..strictly no cars
Meal for 2 costs Rs 500/-

Lunch plans not made yet? Here's an idea :
1. Go to Vasanth Nagar
2. G-Map Maratha Darshan
3. Try their ragi mudde w/ sambar, keema meatball curry, mutton fry curry (all pictured) and liver fry.
4. Die happy.
Maratha Darshan is an old-Bangalore mess that brings to its diners South Karnataka food in its most authentic form and leaves one craving for more!
For a quick muddae ( ragi ball ) and mutton curry , this place just rocks ...if you are one of those who likes the bheja ,khaleja or liver this is heaven , if I were a vegetarian I would avoid this place, other than rasam I wouldn't get anything . Coming back to my meal , the thick mutton curry was beautifully cooked and tender with all the spices blending in really well , I also had nati koli dry and finished it off with a mutton biryani ( remember it's only on Sundays ) . I've never really understood the funda of having rasam after a heavy meal but it was nice here ...a good happy meal overall. Cheers
Every city has an iconic eatery which has gained its status not because of its ambiance or high profile clientele, but purely due to the gastronomic delight that it offers. Maratha Bhavan is one such place, located in a lane off Queen's Road in Bengaluru.
I do not know why this outlet is called Maratha Bhavan, because it is known for its rustic Karnataka cuisine. This is an eat-and-scoot place and by no stretch of imagination a fine dine where you can enjoy a chat over a meal. In fact, you will not even have the luxury of having a table for yourself. There are only four tables on the mezzanine floor, while at the lower level you have the darshini type stand-and-eat. The place is completely full during lunch and you would do well to reach before 1 pm if you want a seat. The waiting time is however not long as the churn is high.
You may also get to rub shoulders with many senior as well as aspiring politicians, besides journalists as the outlet is very close to the Congress office.
Maratha Darshan offers different types of thalis with a combination of mutton fry, mutton kurma, mutton kheema, mutton liver, naati koli, chilly chicken and chicken fry, all of which come with a serving of raagi muddle, steamed rice and rasam. The dry dishes can also be ordered ala carte. You could also try the chicken and mutton biryani. Vegetarians will be highly disappointed as there is nothing for them in the menu save for an insipid thali.
Though the place is the size of a shack it is very clean and hygienic, while the service is professional. If you want to savour authentic South Karnataka food, Maratha Darshan is your destination.
Food: 4.5/5
Service: 4/5
Ambiance: 2.5/5
Liver fry... I don't think you will find anything like this at this price range. Authentic Karnataka military hotel style... meals are awesome at best price.....
I have been here for lunch around 2-3 times. I don't think you will find anything like this at this price range. Its managed by a family and gets very crowded during week days (Monday is off for them). So if you can come early, it would easier for you to get a place. I always tried the mutton curry and taste is pretty consistent
I've been a patron of this place for the past 15 years. Or perhaps this place played patron to my gastronomic desires. It started as hole-in-the wall joint with standing space only and for good reason, it always ran to a packed house. Since then they have moved to a slightly better space close by but not too spacious for the huge crowd they attract.
North Karnataka ethnic military hotel cuisine with dependably consistent quality delivered everyday year after year. Try anything they have on offer and you will be in for a treat.
All the 3.5 stars for the biryani they make here only sundays .. that too only limited plates chicken 65 is just amazing .. !! Take away is the best thing to do . :P
Always wanted to visit this place. Super muddhe and mutton kaima meals.. Affordable prices and good taste. Place is just behind the Congress office
Was wanting to visit this place since long. Went along with a friend. The place was packed. Ordered the chicken fry meals and chilly chicken meals. The taste was too good however the chicken was hard and took effort in chewing. Also had keema balls which was good. The meals comes with a rasam, gravy, 2 chapathi and a bowl of rice along with the main dish you order. Anything else is extra. A glass of buttermilk is highly recommended to settle the spicy food.
This is one again those hidden gems in the heart of the city. I got to know of the place only about 2 years back after which i have become a regular here. One of the cleanest open kitchens you can find in any military hotel. One of the reasons seems to be the kitchen is managed by ladies and are they doing a great job. Must try: Their mutton Fry Meals. Mutton Liver, chicken liver! Theres no place like Maratha
This is one of the military hotels which has stood the influx of all the HiFi places that keep cropping up in the area and carved a niche for itself. The place is famous for its yummy non vegetarian food and mudde(raagi balls). If u want to taste some authentic non veg food don't miss this place. The place is a bit difficult to find but its close to congress bhavan and if u ask anybody there they will guide u to this place. I have been here couple of times and every time I think of this place I start drooling thinking about the amazingly cooked chicken here. They have a standard mudde thali with chicken or mutton , the mutton is supposed to be their speciality however I eat only chicken and it hasn't disappointed me yet.
Dont expect too much with the ambience and set up. But trust me u won't be disappointed with the food out here.
Had lunch their first time yesterday. Lovely taste. You feel like eating rustic flavour. Had mutton curry & rice. Mutton liver was over. Heard its a must try. Its not a upmarket place but a decent location for lunch
Lunch times means lunch time.... the first rule to visit this place is follow time discipline. If you really want to relish a hot Maratha style meal , make sure you are there by 1 pm to be one of the few who can get a full menu and a full meal. As time goes by , latest by 2 30 pm on most days the place runs out of the main attractions... The mutton curry and chicken masala.... For a first time visitor a Non Veg Thali is a must try.
If you are fussy about ambience , who is sitting next to me kind of feelings, just avoid it as the place attracts all class of food lovers from MLA's, Congress leaders ( office is close by) to govt staff , auto drivers etc
Simple tasty and great food is what this place relates to me... The first time you will
Find the food different but once you like it there is no turn back... The taste has been the same for past 5 years ... The food is never heavy for the tummy... Be it mutton or chicken it's fantabulous... Overall it's the SHOULD VISIT PLACE :)
Very precise taste...
Clean, hygienic preparation of all items makes this a repeat pitstop in this area...
Chilly Chicken here is my must have.. And is actually spicy too!
Biryani here is of another level, simply because oil levels are low and spice levels are perfect! Each time literally!
Even a dry side dish with white rice over here is total paisa vasool!
I've seen the kitchen. very clean. Food as good as home food, the biryani is the best with very little oil. the taste has been spot on every time for the last so many years. they are now open on Mondays also, which used to be their weekly off.
Awesome biriyani, chicken kebabs. The aroma of biriyani itself is just amazing. typical hyderabad dum style preparation. New year ended with awesome biriyani. Visit this place if are serious about the taste. Recommended for hard core non veggie...
In a city where there is a posh Pub in every locality, there are also gems like Maratha Darshan!! Here its all about the feel and the old World charm that lingers around in the place.
Started about 16 yrs back from the back of a Van, Hemavathi Bai continues to serve lip-smacking lunch even today. Their Mutton thali and Nati Kozhi thali are the stars and if you are late in going, you would not get any!!
The place is clean enough and nice to have a meal and leave. The service is quick and you pay directly and carry your thali to your seat.
You can choose from Ragi balls and chapathi + rice. The portions are nice and big so you should be quite full after a meal.
The place is extremely tough to find if you are not from that area, but keep asking and then the meal is gonna taste even better after all the hard work :D
Ok... So if you are looking for posh dinning, great decor, hip crowd.... then just look away... But if good appetizing tasty food, casual mess feel and warm ambiance is your calling.... then Maratha Darshan is your answer. Located in the by-lanes of the now so traffic jammed Queens Road, Maratha Darshan sits aboard its humble spot serving non pretentious food to its regulars.
My aunt understanding our family taste buds suggested this place saying "Try this new place for good Non Veg Marathi food". I immediately took the advise and was the there the very next afternoon to realize this place isn't New, Its been there since 1989 0r 1990s. Open only for lunch, Maratha Darshan, under the supervision of this one middle aged lady serves, Veg and Non Veg meals and some starters along with the South Indian food lovers specialities like Ragi Mudde... (Plz dont count me in that list)
So, I went in straight for the Mutton and the Chicken Thalis. And let me tell you how delighted I was. The perfect Marathi style preparation with lots of spices and an explosion of taste. The meat was tender and perfect. Great value for money. I was not able to try the Biryani (they generally have that on Sundays) but I have heard rave reviews about that too.
Come here for the good food, the home style cooking and to realize that presentation is not must, food need to look appetizing however it may be served.
This place is easy to miss as it is not in the main road and in the non-developed lanes near the KPCC office on Queens Road. This place has changed a lot over the decade - even in the spice used in its food. Seating arrangement is limited and one can opt for the self-service as well. Expect nothing great in terms of ambiance but EXPECT and GET it in terms of the food.
The non-veg meals are the best to be tried - especially the mutton variants. There are very less places were mutton is cooked right and served with proportionate spices in it.
Chilly chicken and mutton fry are great. Biryani tastes home made and good. Not sure if they do still, but earlier they used to serve just Biryani rice.
Nice joint for Ragi Ball lovers to dole it out on a variety of non-veg gravies.
Very tasty authentic food, had mutton meals, nicely cooked mutton curry with tender ragi ball and sherwah. Rice and rasam along with it...place is lil too squeaky but manageable, service is typical shout out to get anything done but its quick. Families can visit if they are not too much concerned with tidiness. Value for money and tasty food too.
Very tasty non-vegetarian food. I had chicken curry & rice and it was lip smacking good. This place is off queens road and tricky to find.
Advice: Park your car somewhere else as it is next to impossible to get a parking here and be prepared to face long queue of people dying to dine here :)
A must visit place for foodies who don't care much about ambience and service.
I started visiting this place as I had a friend working in Nissan showroom next to this hotel. The food here is one of the best in town.
The best I have had here is the ragi ball with their standard curry, chicken fry given in a bowl, rasam with rice. The place is a bit small for the flow of people that visit. Try getting a place over on the attic where you can eat peacefully.
The mutton kheema balls are also amazing and nothing much to say about their biryani as it's just a normal one. The prices are fair and reasonable. You may find a lot of working people visiting here for lunch. The place is not as tidy as we want but is fine for middle class people like me.
The place is owned by Marati's and they have that special taste which makes you to crave for it.
Overall I would rate as below:-
4.50 / 5.0 for food
4.50 / 5.0 for pricing
3.0 / 5.0 for ambience
Never miss an opportunity to be there within 2:30 pm as you might be disappointed with the leftovers. Not a place to take your family along. Hoping that they make it so soon.
A simple place with good Ragi Mudde (Ragi bowl) and mutton curry.
A no nonsense place with typical darshini type space. One can either stand and have lunch or can opt for a seating.
If u plan to visit the place make sure u r there before 1:30 pm to avoid huge rush.
This is only open for a few hours in the afternoon and not in the evenings.
Lets come to the food now, food is mouthwatering, especially the mutton fry which is stupendo fantabulos. You get chicken items too which i haven't tried much.
If u are a foodie u will love the food here.
Its a place where ladies can even go without any hesitation. Unlike other places.
Tricky place to find. Parking for cars is nearly impossible to find nearby. It's a typical eatery kind of place, where the food is on high side and the price is reasonable side. Try biryanis, chicken, mutton etc. They are spicy, marathi spices and little heavy for stomach. Worth a try for those tight on budget or who want to try something gastronomical.
very very tasty food. I went by reviews posted here and there was no surprise element at all.
my observation is mainly about the cuisine. as per name of this restaurant, cuisine should have been north karnataka , but I found taste of coastal and plateau mix. of course there wasn't coconut in chicken masala but healthy use of black paper which brings different taste to preparation when not used with coconut.
overall must go for all non veg lovers. very homely food. not so hygienic but tasty. little more quantity could've been better. also try butter milk it's not typical we get in south. it's more like north karnataka or Maharashtra which is just plain butter milk with no Spice and salt. feels good after spicy food.
I had plans to visit a khanavali style restaurant for sometime and after some research on zomato ilanded this place. People confuse others saying its behind Congress office .. but a better routemap is there is a small gully besides Nissan showroom and its just 50mts from there :-). Decor is as her khanavali standards but its not that what i was there for :-) there is self service downstairs and waiter service on 1st floor :-) they have just 3 main course and few starters and i like it that way coz it saves my time scanning thru menu and obviously getting confused.
Three choices are Chicken oota (meals), Mutton oota and nati oota :-) and option is starters are mutton fry, chilly chicken and chicken fry :-) so i ordered for chicken meals and mutton fry and chilly chk :-) finally i got a plate with 2 chapati, dishes that i ordered and rice with some sort of thick gravy :-) both meat were cooked to perfection and gravy was spicy. Chilly chicken made my tongue sweat :-) a must visit for all nonvegies :-)
With absolutely no décor to speak of, Marata Darshan, near the Congress office is a tiny place that dishes out some terrific, simple food and is a favourite for government officials, so go early.
Excellent and authentic food with plenty of options and a must try place to have every item in the menu. However, the prices are not so pocket friendly considering the ambience.
Excellent taste of mutton, it's a small and famous family restaurant, we had mutton meals it's with ragi ball and chapathi mutton was juicy. You'll get good biryanis.
Must try mutton items, seating capacity is less like 15 can accommodate they have self service and table service well maintained cleaniness staff and owner are friendly.
First time I visited.... The food is out of world.. pure naati style... It's a must visit... Mr Naveen is very courteous.. God bless.. kudos to the team .. cheers
Decent place, but price is too high just for bowl of mutton (Contains 3 pieces), small bowl rice(low quality), ragi mudde (5 stars for the quality), small cup rasam, small cup gravy 300rs. At least they should include Biriyani rice in the same.
Food was superb and service was very fast. It's a tiny eatery so don't keep high expectations for ambience. Food will not disappoint. Must try dish is mutton fry and if you are mutton liver lover then liver pepper fry.
This is one of the best places in Bangalore to have non veg food. We ordered chicken 65 meal with biryani rice and mutton curry with ragi mudde. Loved the taste and it tasted very home made, the curry were on spicer side but it was so tasty. A must try for authentic non veg food.
Authentic taste but prices are high
For example 2 kaema ball price : 120
Chicken meals : 220
Mutton : 290
Chapathi / Muddhe along with half rice and chicken Masala or mutton chops are provided
Best one to try around.
Owner is a big fan of Power Start and that's the reason i visited this place

I came here after reading so many wonderful reviews about their meals.
Situated in a small narrow road of Cunningham vicinity Its extremely hygienic and well maintained. They have a small seating area. We ordered the chilli chicken meals and chicken 65 meals. The chicken was cooked so well and the taste is a good 10/10. The only thing I didn’t like was the pricing for such a small meal. I felt it was a bit overpriced. But nevertheless it’s worth coming here despite the price. If you’re a huge mutton fan don’t forget to try the mutton meals. All chicken meals are enough to fill you up and every item on the meal is cooked so well with the right taste and flavours.
Service is really good.
Chicken 65, Chilly chicken Mutton liver are must try options here.
It's a Non-vegetarian's paradise ❤️❤️
Rasam is yummy
Price is reasonable for the taste
Satisfied with the food❤️✅✅
Got a chance to visit Marata Darshan. The name itself says Marata, the dishes are expected to be in Marathi style.
They have service section in the 1st floor. Self service area in ground floor with kitchen. Parking at your own risk.
They have great menu. We ordered: Idli, Mutton biryani, chilli chicken, Chicken fry & chicken lollipop (take away). They also serve, chicken biryani, liver fry, mutton chops.
For noon they have Ragi mudde meals and Chapathi meals as well.
I didn’t click pic of idli. However, the texture was so soft, it was soaking in gravy. Every bite of idli is mouth watering. Kindly be early to savour hot idli.
Mutton biryani taste was good. Clove and cinnamon flavour was dominating, but still the mint balanced the taste. Again it was served hot. Meat was thoroughly cooked and it was soft. Three pieces of mutton meat was in biryani portion.
Chilli chicken taste was great, but felt like Chinese dish rather usual chilli chicken. I became fan of Chicken fry from Marata Darshan. Dish was slightly gravy. Masala of this fry was lip smacking. Chicken was cooked to its consistent and it was juicy.
Price won’t put a hole to your pocket. Altogether a great eatery for natti style non veg in and around Vasanth Nagar.
Note: Due to covid, if you feel safe visit the hotel.
Wear Mask and carry sanitiser. STAY SAFE!!
Good place for non vegetarians. Small restaurant but don't go by the look...foos is very tasty.
Signature dishes of this restaurant is kheema Balls, Mutton fry and lunch
P
Naveen lives up to his words along with his team to all those are hungry to have good food to satisfy their growling tummy and tantalize their tastebuds. Small and compact is the place to feel their warmth. Filled food until my neck in a way a bird could peck and it never hurt my tummy as the food was prepared with natural ingredients.
Finally was able to visit the infamous Maratha Darshan and it was worth the hype and the 17kms drive.
The place is crowded during the lunch time and most of the items were getting over by 2 pm, that shows the quality of the food.
We ordered the Kheem Balls oota and mutton curry oota. Both were really delicious. Also, had the Maratha style Chilli Kitchen. It was different and good.
We also got to taste the mutton chops dry, it was not so great compared to other dishes Maratha darshan offered.
Very nice place for people who love Ragi mudde,Mutton fry, kheema balls, Biryani.Very clean and tidy place.Clean floors and tables.Execellent service.I think many office people have lunch there.Sunday they have special menu from 8.30 morning with goat leg soup and akki roti and other usual items.
One of the oldest restaurants serving delicious non veg food. We ordered chicken thali, keema, and chilli chicken. All of them were delicious. The prices can be on the higher side for a place with a rustic ambience but I felt it was worth it since the food was really good. The taste is quite unique too. The place is usually crowded during lunch hours. Visit once to savour the amazing flavours.
