I'd been to tavern a million times by now. Sadly it's closed for now temporarily.earlier Specially for the karaoke hosted by Sherman.I used to be a regular. Their Wednesday nights were fun . Ladies got free drinks. The place is like an old english pub . Interiors and the vibe in general is of that sort. The safe options are all the chilly paneer and chicken. The bar tenders are friends and your drinks come quick. Even if the place is packed, u can always sit by the Bar and chill which I dont usually mind in a place.this sort since it's not dark and dingy entirely.

Tavern at the Inn. So, how do I start? Well, this was one of those things that happened almost impulsively and while I was with a group of friends wandering aimlessly about Church Street on a Saturday night, we decided to go in. Located inside the Museum inn, this place is bang on the intersection of church-street and MG road. Designed upon those legendary old school English pubs, this place will definitely lure you in the first sight if you have the taste for classics. The bar counter is pretty long and you can opt for the high stools by the counter or you can sit in the booths which are designed in quite a cozy way. It’s a pretty homely place to walk in for a drink with your group of pals.
Coming to the drinks, beers start at a reasonable rate with quite a variety on offer. You get anything ranging from Kingfisher to Budweisers and most of the things in between. They offer a handy variety of cocktails too, but it isn’t quite exhaustive. Variety of whiskeys and vodkas are also on offer along with wine. The place is known for its finger foods and we ordered chicken wings and fries, which were pretty well made. However I was a little disappointed to find out that they didn’t have steaks or any beef items for that matter.
Coming back to the ambience and service, this place has one of the friendliest staffs that I have encountered in Bangalore and while they host Karaoke nights for ladies on Wednesdays and Saturdays, guys can go and sing too. Happy hours go on till 4 to 8pm and this is also one of the places in Bangalore that is open after 11pm on weekdays.
If you are in the area, you might as well want to try this place out, if not for anything else, then just the ambience and the crowd. You might just come back again.

One of the few places in Bangalore open beyond 11 pm on weekdays. Tucked away inside the museum hotel, this place is one for th ole timers. Sit, have a beer, listen to good music. Good for groups as well. And the management is super friendly. Haven't ever tried the food here :p but karaoke nights can be good fun
Best things about our visit: 2 free drinks for women and karaoke. The host leading karaoke night on Wednesdays keeps the large crowd happy with a fun and engaging style, not to mention juggling all the singing requests. On a recent Wednesday evening, English tunes were the norm, so go elsewhere if you want to sing Indian. Ambiance certainly beats food and drink. My "Los Angeles" drink was too sweet and the katti roll was like chewing on rawhide.
The music is great, the beer is fine, however the service is not at all as it was before. They did not have half of the liquors they had listed on the menu and there was no visible effort from the staff to keep their customers happy. #fail
I just casually walked into Tavern during one of my visits to church street. It's located on the mezzanine floor of museum inn.
The ambience on a Friday night was pretty casual. It was not overcrowded. The dim lighting reminded me of the legendary pubs of Kolkata. Music was good though not very recent ones or happening ones.
Though the bar seemed attractive, my friends opted for the high chair seating.
What turned me off was the service... It was too slow. We had to sit and keep asking them to get the menu, then the drinks and then the food again and again and they showed no hurry in their service ( in spite of requesting them to speed up).
The food was decent, the drinks were classic. Overall it's good for those who wants to sit back and relax and enjoy a laid back evening ( with ample time in hand). This place gives the feeling of those classic English pubs.
It's a good place to hangout with friends. The food specially prawn with some great classy music, drink inside the classic English ambiance and their hospitality will make you feel so relaxed and will make your day.

We visited Tavern at the Inn yesterday, a Saturday night. This was never the plan. Plan A was Church Street Social. That went to down the drain when we saw the crowd and the fact that there was a waiting list of over 40 people. Zomato suggested Tavern at the Inn, which is just 40 metres from Church Street Social. It is a small pub inside a Hotel. They have a long bar, with comfortable looking stools. Ambience resembles that of an English pub. The service was prompt and friendly.
The food was a total let down. About the food: Roast chilli chicken, was bland and very dry. Red fiery chicken lacked basic seasoning. Fish and chips was fine, but order only if you love SEA food. The tartar sauce was good. Chicken Club Sandwich was ordinary.
For drinks, we stuck with draught beer. They serve pitchers and towers.
Saving grace was the music. It was a Karaoke night and the host was good at what he did. He kept the songs flowing and worked on the crowd. Few performances brought people of out their shell. Also, I like it when the music does not stifle conversations. Another plus for the Tavern.
Overall, head out if you want to chat over a pitcher of beer. Or want to sing. Don't expect too much from the food.
A small place hidden inside a building. Not exactly a place where you would like to have a weekend bash or something. But if you are back from work and wanna enjoy a chilled beer in an English styled ambience. This is the place.
A classic decor and ambience, gives you a good feel and there's an old world charm to the place. A decent enough place to unwind yourself over good beer, food and friends after a long day's work.
One of my favourite places for a very long time for drink or two. Has the old pub look and is usually packed to the full whenever I have been there.One of the primary reasons for visiting this place is since the quality of the food to accompany the drinks with is very good. The kebabs pack a punch and you have the usual favourites like finger fries and masala peanuts etc. One of the best places in and around the MG Road area.

Small place with hearth and soul. If you are looking for a pub to hang out with friends or alone, to stay away from kids and flavor of the month crowds, to just enjoy a drink watching cricket matches or sing loud at the karaoke night, this is the place to be. If you are a fan of karaoke and want to feel like a rock star when you put your bathroom singing skills to use, you have to go to Tavern on a Wednesday night! Situated inside the Museum Inn Hotel on Church Street, this place is not easy to find if you are going there for the first time. But you can ask the guys at the entrance of the hotel and they will show you your way around. Along with being karaoke and ladies night, Wednesdays at Tavern are also LGBT Nights. Yes, they actually have one of those! Now I do not know if this is official, but having gone there quite often on Wednesdays, I’m pretty sure it is.
What is exciting is that LGBT night just makes the place so much better! The most fun and open-minded people come together, socialize and sing their favourite songs. Starting at 7 pm, the ladies get to choose two drinks (one large and one small) of beer, rum, whiskey or vodka. Men do not need to frown since they get their share of advantage too. From 4-8 pm, all drinks are served at a 30% discount. That’s a pretty fair deal I’d say! So for an ideal night, you could go there by 7 and start with your drinks so that you are all pumped up by the time karaoke starts.
Karaoke starts at 9; usually the host, a very sweet guy, starts the night by singing a song and is followed by the others who give their names for singing. What I love most about the place is that the host is not bias at all and gives everyone a fair chance to sing, whether you are a good singer or not. And that’s what karaoke is all about! There is no stage as such so people who have stage fright need not worry. You just have to stand next to the console and sing, and the crowd comes around. Everyone is generally extremely sweet and encouraging, especially if you’re nervous. So you can let yourself loose and have a nice time.
Do not forget to try the food! The Chilli and Basil Chicken there was the best I have ever had! Apart from that, we ordered the Salt and Pepper Chicken, which was pretty good too. In fact, both the dishes were so good that we repeated our orders for both, and the food was off the plates within no time. We also had the Masala Peanuts, which were yummy and were served in massive quantity.
The interiors are nicely done and the place gives you the feel of an English pub right from the moment you walk in. There are low as well as high tables to choose from for seating, or you could also choose to sit at the bar. The waiters are friendly and so is the crowd.
This place is definitely one of my Wednesday favourites and also a place where I’d like to take my friends who are visiting from out of town since I think it does a pretty great job of describing the vibe of this city!
Tavern is one of the classic pubs of Bangalore - been around for ages, and offers a dining experience that's relaxed and enjoyable. You often tend to see a lot of foreigners here, and is always short of space on pretty much any day of the week. The seating area is very cosy, and the dim lighting that goes with it almost makes it look like you are in an English pub right here in Bangalore.

Seems to have gotton back it's musical charm from the early days, miss their Chilli Pork which was clearly the winner for the kitchen here. The Reshmi Chicken Kebab is excellent but quite overpriced for the variety of places closeby. The beer is forever fresh, which is what keeps the place alive although it hasn't seen any change whatsoever with the ambience and the lights. Surely miss the staff from the good old days who made it feel like home. If you've been a regular here off-late, you have no clue what life was like at Tavern was in it's glory days! Lost Charm!
I was in Bangalore for one night on work and my client insisted me to visit this place with him. I was tired due to road travel for 3-4 days and was not as keen as I wanted some rest. Then I decided that I must go here as my client was extremely keen. he is a regular there whenever he visits the city.
I had a great time here. The whole experience of being there just took my tiredness, that not even any rest would have given me. Its a nice small pub, with a young and not so young like me crowd. Live karaoke, with rock and roll from the 70's, 80's and 90's, sung by the regular pubbing crowd there. It was amazing since its the music I grew up with.
I enjoyed my drinks and there was some great snacks to support that. I would definitely like to be here during my next visit to the city. Nice friendly crowd, did not feel like an outsider at all.
The staff is friendly and service is good. Nice decor too....truly a traditional pub feel.

Tavern has been around for years and is the go-to place post work to grab a few drinks, munch on some pub grub and head home! It has a very relaxed atmosphere and the ambience is of an English pub. The interiors may take getting used to as it can tend to look slightly shady because of the dim lighting. However, all of that is forgotten once the food and drink is placed before you. They have happy hours from 4-8PM on weekdays during which time all drinks attract a 30% discount. The beer is tasty and not a watered down version. The food is lip smacking good. Must try are the American Chilli Corn, Chilli Basil Chicken, Chicken Taipei, Potato Basket and of course Peanut Masala, without which no drinking session is complete (and which these guys make so well)! Ordered the non-veg platter last time and while it was spicy and the meat succulent and well cooked, I found it very oily. So do mention to the waiter if you'd like less oil in the food. The music isn't too loud, which is perfect because you can converse without having to scream across the table! The service is decent, they take some time with their food orders but the servers are very courteous and friendly! Also very pocket friendly place. Few pitchers of beer and 4-5 starters for the table costs around 800-1000/- per head. A must visit for someone who doesn't care too much for the ambience etc. and wants to just chill out after a long day with good drinks and great food at even better prices!
I dunno how I could miss this one, when I just love this pub. The decor of the pub is very British and I just love the songs they play. It'a located just next to empire hotel in st.marks rd and from outside trust me it won't look like a pub. U need to sit inside for sometime to actually like the place.

Was going back to Tavern after a break of 7 odd years so wasn't sure what to expect.
Sunday night, almost totally empty which was surprising in itself. I remember this place never being empty when I used to be a regular.
Ordered a Bloody Mary (been on a quest to find a good one in town for some time) and I was so happy when I got it! It was more than perfect. I had finally found my Bloody Mary joint!
Ordered a lamb dry starter dish that had come highly recommended and it lived up to expectation. It wasn't too sweet and neither was it too spicy. The pieces were crisp and there was enough to whet the appetite as a an appetizer should.
I am sorry I have forgotten the name though I am pretty sure that it would be pretty easy to spot on the menu. The menu HAS changed since management has changed. Certain items that were a fond mouthwatering memory are exactly that now, a memory.
The only thing I didn't personally like was that the music kept changing volume which made having a conversation a challenge. The smoking room is TINY! More than 5 people and it becomes difficult to move without burning either yourself or your clothes. The TV ONLY showed sports channels. I was so tempted to ask them to change it to another channel like Discovery or something along those lines but was told that this was part of the "decor". Seriously?
The service staff are polite and discreet they way they ought to be. Nobody bothers you for no reason and they keep a sharp eye on empties to make sure your drinking pleasure is uninterrupted.
All in all, worth visiting again.

An all English place with rustic wooden furniture right at the end of Church Street. I have been going to this place for many years and this place has not loose its charm whether in terms of service or quality. It’s been favourite place to catch up with friends and watch sporting events running on televisions. They have very good collection of music.
On food, they have some of the best collection of finger food. Chilli Garlic sticks are must try. Cocktails are right in strength.
Service is courteous, attentive and good. Only downside is they sometime run out of few items on weekdays.

I love Tavern at the Inn! It has a quiet and relaxed atmosphere. The staff is friendly. The food is good and the drinks are not watered down. Cost is reasonable and equates to the good food. It's a small pub, but a nice place to sit, eat and drink. The menu is big, as they have 3 other restaurants in the same building. The service is fast. The only draw back is the music, it's very loud for a small place and chances are you may get high on the music.
I've been to this place a few times and I really like it. I've been there with friends, with colleagues, on a date even - it's been ideal every time!

I love the chicken kebab platter! I've also had the paneer chilly and some babycorn dish - very tasty! The manager is super helpful and courteous - take his help in ordering!

If you want to drink till you drop this place is super friggin expensive! Ive been goin here since the last 11 years. But I only enjoy the ambience and the music. I feel everything here is now over priced and it lives only because of its patrons.
The very British style pub right in the heart of Bangalore. Nice place to hang out with friends and colleagues. Try cocktails/shooters in between draught if you wanna get high, expensive though. Try good choices of sides....platter, basket and chilly panner/mutton/beef to spice up a bit!! Bartenders are good to serve you.......once you are in this place, would love to go back for a good time.
The beauty of this nice little English pub is that one visit would not suffice , you would end up going here every weekend for atleast 8-9 months , well atleast me and and my friends did .
Good Beer , Great Music and delicious food is what's served at Tavern . I highly recommend the American corn and the non veg platter . The american corn really tasty and addictive , i haven't found it in any other restaurant in the city . The waiters are really friendly . I went to this place recently after a long gap and found out that most of the regular waiters had moved on , so did the manager Dominic who was always took good care of the regulars , and believe me this place has a lot of regulars . So now all of a sudden this place feels a bit alien to me .

My first visit to this place dates back 10years & to this day I'm never bored of visiting this place. Its simply exceptional!!!
Positives:
1. What strikes you most is the Ambiance. The place has the right ambiance for a Pub. The seating is comfortable whether on the long chairs, sofa or at the counter.
2. Across the hall there are TV's so one can enjoy their favorite sport. Its a nice place to watch your favorite EPL team playing on weekends.
3. Nice array of drinks available from drought beer to shooters.
4. For a pub the food here is delicious, for both Veggies & Non-vegetarians. Don't miss out of the Chilli Garlic Sticks & the usual peanut masala.
5. The Staff are very polite & professional. The service every time has been quite brisk.
Negatives:
1. Slightly heavier on the pocket i guess. But hey, there are places in bengaluru which are not even half as good as this which are even more costlier.

Decided to go there with a couple of friends on a Sunday afternoon expecting it to be abuzz with activity. But it was quite disappointing to see only one table occupied apart from ours. Nonetheless, the beer and food were great.
We ordered cheese fries, chicken and terderloin starters. The fries were perfect - warm and crisp. The terderloin was quite tasty too. I found the place to be quite nice overall, although it was empty. Would I go there again? Probably on a Saturday evening when I'm in the mood for some chilled beer!
OK.....let me share the first point - when Tavern started at the Museum Inn, three of us walked in by mistake....and we were their first customers.....bill paid. Done.
We went back the next weekend and the many weekends after that. We went their every weekday and started to avoid the weekend (we couldnt afford to drink after all the work day drinks) thats all....we moved jobs,...went back quite often and were almost family.....some friends I have made from meeting them their and still stay as friends....lovely place, great music....
Then, it became the best place in town.....went down hill in between....picked up even better the second time round and had its share of everyones wallet for sometime.
Today, you go to Tavern.....cause you want to go there....you love their food and the portions and thats it.....what more can I say....

We've been going there for years, and the quality has always been good.
The draught beer is fresh and the finger foods are nicely done.
We usually have the simple ones like french fries, peanut masala and chilly chicken.
The TV's around play sports, whatever is on. We usually used to watch EPL matches on saturday evenings.
The music is all types of rock, and they entertain requests as well.
The staff is friendly and service is good. The prices are not high either, so it's great value for money.
Tavern is a quiet cozy pub that has it's own little charm that draws you in . Perfect for any time of the day , it's open little past 11 as well.
The faint music in the background allows you to have a proper conversation unlike most loud crowded pubs.
The peanut masala is a total winner ! So is the masala papad .
The cocktails are nice and smooth .
Service is good, they were quite prompt with all our orders . Cost for 2 would be about Rs.1000

As the name suggests this is a cosy little pub inside the museum inn.This is another place we like to hangout when in a mood for some casual chat with friends.
The place is warm,adequately lit with carpeted flooring and comfortable seating.It is not expensive so one can down as many pitchers knowing ones limit.They have happy hours offering 30% off on drinks and a night for the ladies on wednesdays offering 3 tap beers/3 small pegs of indian whiskey.
There's a cute little enclosed space for the smokers where you cannot take your drinks thus taking away the pleasure of guzzling and puffing simultaneously.But who is to complain after you've had a good time.

I'm sold on this one. Tavern at the Inn is a quaint little place, with all the bearings of something you'd run into under a tunnel in a little town. And that is very good. The woodwork adds a beautiful, rustic charm to this place- a warm feeling that will make you want to come back several times.
We went here on New Year's Eve in order to avoid the usual dance, DJ and disco lights fare. We were not disappointed at all.
I read here on zomato that their cheese fries are to die for and we ordered some of those. I finished them in exactly five minutes. I strongly recommend anyone going here to have at least one plate of these miracles disguised as fries. We had a Blue Margarita (which was brilliant) and some 8 year old Black Dog with the fries.
Then came a glass of Californian Peaches- one of the best things I've tasted in a while.
Feeling quite tipsy and extremely adventurous, we shared a pitcher of draught (between two people!) and had some chilli cheese crostini to go with it. I probably wouldn't want to spend on bread pakora is what I realized after having the crostini. I had no more space left to try anything else. The only downside that day was that they had run out of several items on the menu.
All in all, the place had great music that day and was everything we wanted it to be. I'm glad we went here after scouting for good places to be at- my 31st was well spent here. I'm going here several times over.

After geofrey's, this is the only "English pub" in Bangalore. Aptly located at the junction of Museum road, church street and mg road, Tavern , is a class apart from all the drinking holes that line these 3 streets. having its own loyalists, this place over the years has become a favorite for the corporates , for quick pit stop. The pin-striped sleeves rolled up, the jackets hung on the chair, the note books placed at the sides, is now a common sight in the early hours of the evenings which gives way to the more mixed crowd towards the later half of the evening.
The music is great and the Tvs strategically located, makes this a great place for a lone drink at the bar , even for a lady ! And yes, nobody will raise a brow !
The cock-tails are great , and the tender is sometimes even delighted to hand you a tip or two on bar tending ! Beer, ofcourse , is a Bangalore favourite.

The name does justice to Tavern. It is exactly what it claims to be and a little more.
Wedged firmly between Bamboo Shoots & Angeethi, Tavern is perhaps a little hard to find the first time but rest assured, once you find your way in it is a little hard to leave. This may be true also because of the small exit door you have to use when the cops arrive to close up the place around 11.30pm.
The experience of Tavern begins even before you walk in the door. Ascend the narrow staircase and you catch sight of the brightly written chalk board which proclaims Wednesday to be Ladies Night and other such information. Immediately you get a whiff of the old fashioned decor of Tavern and the food cooking at Bamboo Shoots also.
Once the door swings open, Tavern does not believe in wasting your time or their money on subtlety. A well stocked bar greets the eye with smiling bartenders behind it. Waiters and Managers dressed impeccably in their classic white shirts and black trousers rush to find you a suitable place to enjoy the material comforts that you so richly deserve.

You can meet advertising, IT, retail crowd and can easily bump into a musician or an artist.
The place for good classic rock, hard rock and retro music.
And of course the original English pub of Bangalore.
Its is an ultimate hangout around the center of the city. Getting over crowded lately and running low on staff that can attend to you but definitely overrides once you start going!!
