I visited this restaurant on a weekend afternoon for lunch as I had a seafood craving. There is not much advertisement & there is a homely feel to it. To be honest, I almost loved all of the items I've tried there. So, getting right to it I will list down my recommendations:
1) Crab Masala: the tangy masala is mouth watering & the crabs are fresh, sweet & juicy.
2) Karimeen Pollichathu: This fish preparation was the best I've had till date. There was a hint of smokiness in this & the taste of the fish was marvellous.
3)Prawn Ghee Roast: not that spicy, but very very tasty!
4) Fishermen's meal: homely, fulfilling & classic. Their jackfruit papad was just too good.
5) Konchu Thoran: Try it to believe it. If you love prawns & coconut, this is for you.
All the accompaniments were at par. However, I felt that the Kappa Biryani had too much tapioca & practically no meat. I'd avoid that if I revisit.
Apart from that, my 2 hours were very satisfying & I'll definitely recommend a visit.
I'll update my review in case I revisit.

If you want to have some hearty meal at a pocket friendly prices, then this is the place to be.
On a Monday afternoon, it was a bit empty but we could relish the food without second thoughts. especially their crab, which is a must have by the way.
The starters are quite decent, but the squid roast takes the cake.i know you will be looking what to have by now so here goes
Crab masala
Kappa biriyani
Chicken stew with appam
And
Definitely the konchu thoran
It's a good place with good quality and quantity food, my family had a good time and enjoyed the non veg option. Good place must try the kerala food, value for money as well.
Its just awsome place for all the mallus......the ambiance they provide is just amazing...all the foods they provide is also fantastic.......
An interesting place to grab Kerala food as it’s not the typical mess setup l and yet not fine dine. So it’s the perfect balance between closer to home food in a clean and neat atmosphere.
Ambience: (5/5)
I was surprised at how nice this place is inside. Extremely well lit and clean. The choice of artwork on the walls is nice as is the selection of lighting which is both beautiful and functional. There are seating options for as low as 4 and as many as 14 from what I could count.
Food: (5/5)
Firstly the food was prepared and brought out extremely quickly which made it great. Freshly prepared as you could taste that in the food. I had the Chicken biriyani and the meant polichadhu (meat cooked in a banana leaf). Both were very good and I would recommend to anyone considering them. The meat was cooked beautifully and the spices were just right to provide a nice spicy kick and yet not burn your tongue. The biriyani was a typical Kerala biriyani. It was a tad on the oily side towards the bottom of the bowl. So you can always leave that section of the bowl when eating it.
Summary: (5/5)
All in all I had a great experience here with the responsiveness of the staff (I would like to give a special mention to Rajesh - who ensured my food was delivered quickly). Good food and a clean ambience. Not more to ask for.
This is one of the best places for Kerala cuisine and the fish curry is just exquisite and the Appams are the most fluffy and sofest I have eaten so far.
Bliss of an Ambience!!
Bekal is a Multicusine Kerala Style Restaurant filled with some seafood varieties. It's so ambient and well organised. Prawns Sukka was so special and delicious. Neer Dosa and Fish Curry is a must try.
Beef Fry was so yummy and super spicy.
Hope to try some Fish Starters next time..!!
One of the hidden gems in Jeevan Bhima Nagar and the areas surrounding is 'Bekal'. It is a one-stop shop for those who heartily indulge in authentic Mangalorean & Kerala cuisine. The waiting staff is gracious, and the price list justifies value-for-money. My guilty pleasures from the place are: Mushroom Pepper Fry, Mangalorean Fish Curry, Seafood Platter and Chicken Stew.
Bekal serves good food at a good price. I've had take away from them couple of times in the past and they have never disappointed. Today we went here for lunch. We ordered Neer Dosas, Appams, Chicken Ghee Roast and Chicken Stew. While Neer Dosa could have been better, the other dishes were good. Will definitely recommend the place to anyone looking for good Kerala/Mangalorean cuisine.
Beautiful ambience . Chicken curry with appam is a must try . Quick service and friendly staffs. Small place on first floor with good seating .
Had ordered pothichoru. Never felt more homelike food in my history of online ordering. A must try for any non vegetarian coastalite. Fully satisfied my weekend cravings for homely food in Bangalore
Bekal, as the name suggests, is a malayalee restaurant with a warm ambience. The mood was set with the traditional 'chuk kappi' (ginger coffee) which was quite strong and aromatic. The menu was replete with all sorts of Kerala dishes with quite a variety to satiete both veg and non veg palettes. Tried the appam, Kerala parotha, chicken stew and roast chicken. The appam was made on the go and was hot and soft. Parotha too was soft and fluffy. Chicken stew was just the right consistency and was great. Roast chicken was slightly spicy but didn't disappoint. Altogether, a wonderful dining experience with family. Prices a bit on the higher side. Otherwise, an ideal place for occasional family dinners.
Nice restaurant for authentic Mangalorean and Kerala food. Chicken ghee roast, prawn ghee roast and chiken sukka are some of the recipes to must try here with neer dosa or Kerala paratha...
Friendly staff and good food , everything was taste and they gave 15% discount also,
The restaurant was really clean, definitely recommend this place to lot more people keep it up guys😍
Had porotta, Syrian Meat Fry and Mangalorean chicken. Everything was really tasty. Good going...
The food was delicious. Excellent quantity for the best price. The ambience was lovely. The restaurant was really clean. Hospitable staff. I really did not find any flaw with this place. Definitely recommending this to a lot more people.
It’s also strange but I noticed that the people who give bad reviews to this place have only about 2 followers on an average or have only give 1-3 reviews ever. Weird.
Heard people saying try out Thalassery Restuarant. But, Bekal is special... Be it the classic Ambiance, welcome Drink to the food Bang On!! Menu has the combination of Mangalorean & Kerala delicacy...
Had Aappam, Meat roast, Mlorean chicken sukka, and lime tea.😍😍😍
Check out the photo's...
Typical Kerala/Mangalorean restaurant
Ordered chicken biriyani, egg biriyani, beef fry and Solkadi.
Biriyani quantity was less and costly, hence rating 4/5 else which I give a 5/5 for the Ambience, taste and spices.
Claims to use home made spice and beef fry is must try here
My friends and I had gone to this place for lunch. The place offers Kerala and mangalorean cuisines. The place was packed. We ordered Thalassery chicken biryani. The biryanis were really tasty.
Wonderful Mangalore Fish Curry! Must try!
Went really well with the soft Kerala Paratha.
Albeit for one piece, the fish was pretty boneless and the meat could do better with a medium doneness.
With their discount and the Independence Week discount I got a very good deal.
very similar to home cooked food.. I ordered chicken ghee roast and Roti's which was fantastic.. one star less because chicken cuts was not good.. and chicken was not too soft
Ordered Kane Rava Fry and Prawns Arippodi Varuthathu. Prawns was really nice. Kane fish was not that good.
tasty food ,provide good pickles
It's good as we expected, but should be more good if they increase the quantity of rice
Amazing food.. thalseri biriyani is a must try at this place
super stuff.. good quantity.. spicy
I liked the ambience of this place and the food they serve here is fresh and very tasty. Especially I liked the dishes beaf pollichathu and neer dosa. The staff here is also very polite and I have never experienced any delay in their home delivery.
Good ambience. Amazing food! Especially the meals and beef pollichadhu. Staff are very polite. Came to know from staff that they use spices pounded in their own kitchen. Being a Keralite my most preferred "Kappa fish curry" was yummy.
Ordered in.
the place specialises in Mangalore and Kerala cuisine (as the name suggests)
Price is reasonable but quantity is less. Sufficient for one person.
Chicken stew: A light chicken made in coconut milk (I loved the light taste) and a bit of starch added to it!
Neer dhosa: Reminded me of the comfort of home-cooked meal. AMazingly done!
Squid fry: Fiery and I loved it like that. The foron of Curry leaves just add to the flavour.
Kinh fish in a Kerala gravy: Quality of fish was first class. I did not like the gravy much.
Overall: Recommended for those who love sea food and the strong flavours of Malayali kitchen!
A great place to dine in with ample space and a good decoration. The environment remains very peaceful, truly lifting up our mood which makes us enjoy the food evn more. Coming to the food. It's absolutely mouth watering, especially the porotta and beef. Something to savour for ) overall it's a great experience and I strongly recommend people to give it a try. You won't be dissapointed
A clean place , prices of the food was very less compared to a similar restaurent , the taste and quality was very good, was reluctant to go with my family at the beginning, kids said noooo, wife was not very happy ... but after eating they all liked it
This can be one of the gem of place to have pure food and no bull.
It's a well thought place with tasty food and pleasant ambience.
We tired Kerala Chicken Curry, Appams, KAPPA Biryani and it was one of the best meal we had.
We will be definitely recommending this place to are friends and surely be back.
Thank you for good food!
everything was fine , but the roll was regular even though I ordered jumbo. but it was value for money since I got a complimentary drink
Good Kerala style food, inexpensive
Its a small place, on the 1st floor of a building and is bit hard to notice.
Had ordered appam, fish moilee, chicken varatharachathu, beef roast and kadala curry. Chicken varatharachathu was the best of all. The fish moilee was highly dissapointing and didn't have the traditional taste to it. Beef was soft enough. Kadala curry was also not up to the mark. Overall they could improve the flavour to their dishes.
Bekal - Is the place in kasargod kerala, which is neighbour to mangalore city. The concept of this restaurant to provide manglore + kerala cuisine to patrons. The restaurant got nice ambience, the tracks played in restaurant was old n new Malayalam n hindi songs. I selected sea foods, mangalore is famous for seafoods. Tried crab masala, menu of the day item. Chosen porotta n Chapatthi as bread. The crab masala was awesome. Nicely they prepared with spice content. Quantity n food quality also nice. Overall it was nice fooding experience. Must go place if you want to eat sea foods from mallu restaurant in jeevan beema nagar
Yet another place on this road with good Mallu food.. tried their biryani and the parota and pepper chicken. It was so deliciously prepared that I was craving for more. The spices were subtle and the flavours were so perfect! Thoroughly enjoyed my meal
If you want to try kerela cuisine nice place to go. I loved the apam and chicken stew. The baked fish was also great . It's built inside a house, the ambience is simple and cozy 😋
Bekal.. Good restaurant, Ambience is good too. Certain items take some time to be prepared but Service is good and quick. Food is tasty. Wide variety of Kerala Cusine dishes. Worth visiting for Kerala style meals and other Kerala food.
If you have a penchant for authentic Kerala Cuisine, then Bekal at Indiranagar in Bengaluru is the place to go.
We had Fish Cutlet, Alleppey Fish Curry, Kerala Chicken Curry, Appam, Kerala Parotta, Nannari Sarbat and lastly Tender Coconut Pudding.
Nannari Sarbat is a refreshing digestive drink and Tender Coconut Pudding is a dessert made with tender coconut water and milk.
The Head Chef personally came and briefed us about the dishes and their respective places of origin. The staff members were courteous. Last but not the least, the place is indeed economical. Overall, we were extremely satisfied. We wish to visit this place again.
Nice Ambience for have food peacefully.
Kappa biryani and Fish-Curry meals are my Fav here
Now a regular spot to try the best homely like kerala food! Service is outstanding and the place is well set!
Need to climb the stairs one floor, but its worth the effort!
A cozy place where you can find traditional kerala style cuisine. In general found the food to be tasty and of good quality, but felt that salt level was a bit lower than normal. Hopefully this will be rectified in the future.
Chicken Biryani had fried chicken which is rarely seen in Bangalore restaurants. Kerala Porotta was nice.👌
Also Nannari Sarbath available.
Washroom available. And car parking can be managed in the side roads.
Had a very peaceful early dinner tonight at this cute little place. All staff at this restaurant would just make you feel
Home. Starting with warm water followed by Jackfruit apallam again followed by sumptuous wholesome egg appam with curry… I am certainly visiting the place again soon for another meal 😋🤤😇
Currently the restaurant is not very fancy from outside but very cozy inside. They r expanding & in another 2 months, we should have an anytime go-to place for Kerala feel & food
Pretty good restaurant with North Kerala cuisine. Weekends are pretty crowded. So go bit early if you want to enjoy a great Sunday afternoon lunch. Owner and staff are very polite and helpful in picking out the dishes. Real scrumptious food and not too expensive.
An interesting place to grab Kerala food as it’s not the typical mess setup l and yet not fine dine. So it’s the perfect balance between closer to home food in a clean and neat atmosphere.

One of the best Kerala restaurants in Bangalore with authentic malayalee food. Simple and elegant food with good ambience. Special mention about the manager and chef, Murali Krishna. His friendly and courteous nature will definitely make people like us to visit again.
Normally we have delivery from this restaurant. They have good and authentic Kerala cuisine . Good and fluffy kerala porata . All the curries are good ( chicken , erachi ) . Never went to this restaurant for dine in . So not sure about the parking and ambience . Knowing this place parking will be tough . Overall the food and quantity and taste wise this is a good place .
After searching long and hard for a good malu breakfast place, I came across bekal. I tried their parota, beef roast, beef stew and appam. I really enjoyed all of it. In the end asked for some coconut milk which was just excellent with the appam. It was a slow morning, the place was almost empty at around 1030am and the service was decent. Overall will recommend this place for if you are looking for some nonveg mallu breakfast.
The atmosphere in the restaurants and the food are both good. All Kerala food is available, including beef and duck.
This restaurant is among the best for Kerala cuisine. The food's fantastic, especially the beef. Friendly staff and great service add to the experience!
Really good place for Kerala dishes, have seen not so easy to spot place while passing through Jeevan Bhima Nagar numerous; decided to walk-in for breakfast today. Ordered for Idiyappam, Appam and Dosa along with Green Peas Curry and Egg Roast. All items were fresh and tasty. The restaurant is adequately spaced and can host around 30 people at a time. Place is kept clean and neatly designed. We even took Kerala Porotta & Beef Fry as take away! Parking is there in the building right next to the hotel or you can even park in the inside lanes of the road.
A good restaurant serving Kerala dishes.Located in a calm area. Charges are moderate.Apart from Kerala meals, they provide appam & curry, puttu etc which are more keralite than the meal on banana leaves.
