Must try Khali dosa and Set Dosa.. With butter which increases the taste.. Chutney is to die for.. If you ignore the Rude AF Cashier.. Everything else is good.
Hotel Mangala, Hanumanthanagar, Bengaluru
Another age old eatery of Bangalore which serves amazing Khaali Dose. Don't know how many of you eaten here, I haven't heard about it till recent times, one friend of mine who stays nearby to this place recommended and accompanied to this place. Ambiance gave me nostalgic feel as it looked exactly like any small eateries we used to go in childhood, of course this is an iconic old eatery too.
They have wide options to choose from, but what they are famous for is their Khaali Dose which is served with chutney, one needs to pay extra for Aloo Palya just like Dwaraka hotel. Dosa is very soft and chutney is perfect match to it, I thought it will be heavy but it wasn't, even after eating two I was craving for more.
Self service, pricing is pocket friendly too. Eatery lies in a small road, difficult to identify. If you are a fan of Khaali Dosa then this is the place you shouldn't miss, even otherwise it's worth a visit to see the ambiance which 70's to early 90's kids used to enjoy.
Taste: 5/5
Ambiance: 3.5/5
Service: 4.5/5
Value For Money: 5/5
legendary place for khali dose.very soft khali dose with spicy coconut chutney. limited items. seating available. next to khaggis bakery in the corner
This is a legendary place for khaali dosa. It tastes absolutely yum. One of the softest khaali dosa that I have ever eaten. This is a very tiny place n difficult to locate in the hustle bustle.
This is one of oldest hotel of Bangalore, shifted here from 4th cross been eating here since a kid. To have amazing Khali dosa in Bangalore, do visit this place. Usually be full but the service is quick.
One of the oldest hotel in town , serving best food since 1990 , they serve excellent kali dosa & bisibele bath . We are very regular to this hotel since 1 year , this place is best for yummy South Indian breakfast .
Forget about the behaviour of owner and the staff..just go and enjoy their food...Khali dose is excellent here...in the age of Bombay Sagu ruling the darshinis the vegetable saagu they make is out of the world..try their rava idly with saagu..😀
For the best Khali Dosa in South Bangalore, Hotel Mangala stands out as one among the top two. This is a very old joint and known for the Rave Vade, Khali Dosa and watery chutney.
There is a way to eat Khali Dosa if you really want to savour the taste; dip the Dosa completely in the watery chutney and that’s the way.
Don’t care about ambience, the attitude of the owner and staff. Just go and enjoy the Dosa.
Good hotel in basavanagudi area, feels like old time darshinis, khali dosa is the best even bisibele bath tastes good. Just simple and perfect and no extravaganza.
Simple hotel serving great food from a very long time... This hotel is a local's delight... Amazing Masala dosa, khali dosa and yummy rava vada...
Best kali dosa in Bangalore but i feel they use lot of soda powder init but tasty later you may feel filled because of soda powered. Coffee taste awesome good. Pineapple pudding kesari-bath perfect. YES STAFF AND OWNERS ARE BIT ARROGANT but you have smiling face things will work out 😎. They have token system in house so make sure u are there when ur turn else some one else will take 😜
Another legend when it comes to Khali Dose (Dosa), Located in Hanumanthanagar this hotel is serving customers with their sumptuous dose's. They are known for Benne Khali, Many people do mention that the chutney is watery, but as many of us know, Khali dose will be bit thick & in order to make it soft one must dip the same in chutney & this is the logic behind serving watery chutney, as far as i have experienced one wouldn't be able to enjoy the same with thick (gatti) Chutney, as it will be difficult to eat. Their BisiBeleBath,Uddina vade is also very good. The current set-up is quite spacious & clean
Dosas are actually good
BBB as well
And the only issue is with the cashier who actually doesn't know how to treat his customers (at times)
Not a great place to hangout
Just try the dosa at once
Mangala hotel name itself gets me back to my childhood memories they serve best kahli dosa, masala dosa, kesaribath, idli, vada and chutney. Been visiting this hotel from 1992 when it was located at maruthi circle, every sunday breakfast use to be masala dosa from Mangala. Now they have shifted to 50ft road h.nagar only the building has changed the taste remains the same
Been a customer to this hotel since 2002 . Nice hotel to have dosas , bisibele bath and vada . Famous for there neer chutney. Decent family hotel . Really not a customer friendly hotel !! People go because of the taste not of the hospitality
This place was once the most visited from everyone.. the quality of food is bit fallen. But still this place is awesome for a common man. And recommended to visit once
It's one of the oldest hotels of South Bangalore. Going here from 8 years now and they always make me feel hungry for more. Famous for their khali dosas they are always crowded. You can actually see entire families coming here from distant places for those khali dosas. With limited menu they keep their quality. Prices are towards higher side compared to other places but that's the price of good n hygiene food. Been a regular customer here for a while.
This place has existed ever since I remember seeing it. The fact lace has new interiors and is very good. The quality and taste is very good. Must visit for dosa lovers. Delicious South Indian breakfast is served through out the day. Good place to fill ur stomach.

Hotel Mangala is one of my favorite restaurants in our locality. This is one of the oldest restaurants too and popular for Khali Dosa and Chutney. In recent times they have shifted the restaurant next to Kaggi’s Bakery. I started going here from almost a epoch when they had in Maruthi Circle. This restaurant is a Sister concern of Hotel Dwaraka in NR Colony. This is a emblematic south indian restaurant where they serve Khali Dosa, Idly Vada Sambar, Masala Dosa and Bisi Bele Bath. Khali Dosa is a signature dish here and one must try with butter & chutney to enjoy your breakfast.
Khali Dose ... best in town. Better than famous Dwarka Bhavan ? Arguably yes...
Mangala hotel used to be a small place with just over 4 tables before they moved to this new space. Clean and quick.
Another classic breakfast joint in banashankari, known for their kali and masala dosa, its shifted to a new location next to kaggis bakery. But these old tiffin rooms continue to be the best with their food.

After dwaraka closed down in bull temple road, some cooks an waiters came up with this place, which seres the legendary khali dose better than dwaraka ..
Here, the must haves are khali dose with the extra butter that you can purchase over the counter and the yummy puri sagu. Filter coffee after these will transport you to 7th heaven.
Must Go for their khali dose!
This restaurant dates back to my childhood days to hanumanthnagar. Nostalgic. I've been having the kaali dose since it costed 10 bucks. The aptly seasoned chutney with asfoetida is just heavenly! The pine apple kesari bath is something you can't forget though it has too much oil ;)
Haven't really visited their new location as i had relocated.
The hotel wouldn't disappoint anyone who wishes to Taste the authentic south Indian food of Bangalore.
In the sleepy ally's of hanumantha nagar was this small old time darshini. With old wodden benches and marble tabletops. Their set dose was worth waiting for. They are good even today after they have shifted to a more spacious place. But I liked their old place. Amazing chutney and vade. Even their kharabath is worth a try. Sunday moring/ any day morning quickie breakfast!
Mangala hotel is the best place for khali dosa....best chutney I have ever had with perfection...... It also serves idli vada which is okish.....the recommended dish is khali dosa:);)

Although they serve fixed South Indian dishes, taste is entirely dissimilar compare to other Darshini’s and restaurants in the locality. This place is as good as legendary restaurants.
After they shifted to the new place, ambiance was completely changed and draped with fusion of Good Old & Brand New stuffs. In the sense they have Metal tables and Plastic Chairs with Old-style Blue painted walls and Wooden Showcase has been changed to metal one. They do have a small family room with four tables.
Earlier they had only service in the previous place but after shifted to a new place its only Self-Service which is quite disappointed. I felt service is bit lacking in the current place as they serve very slowly in the counter.
There is always a demand for their Kali and Masala Dosa which they serve especially during peak hours and most of the people in South Bangalore are not aware of this restaurant. Bisibelebath is indeed scrumptious and prettified with split potato chips – Trust me you will feel the flawless taste. Idly Vada Sambar is quite blameless like other restaurants and palates ok. Khara bath is just ok and honestly not recommended.
If you are coming to Hanumanthanagar, do visit this restaurant along with family and friends to enjoy the unique taste of South Indian Breakfast.
Pricing is faintly higher than the Darshini’s but definitely worth it.
I recommend this place for Breakfast.
Overall:
Taste: 4/5
Quality: 4/5
Ambiance: 3.75/5
VFM: 4/5
Service: 3.5/5
An unexplored gem in the corner of Banashankari. A decade old restaurant which serves best Dosa and chutney in the area. This restaurant is located in the pipeline road just next to the famous Kaggis. You might easily miss out this restaurant since its sign board is not placed appropriately.
AMBIANCE & SERVICE: Ambiance is just normal as any other self service hotel. There is a plenty of seats available inside the restaurant. So, you can walk in with confidence of getting seat at any point of time. "Disciplined" would be appropriate word to explain the service. They serve dosa on the basis of first come first serve by the token number reference which i really appreciate.
FOOD: I have tried many items in last 2 months. My experience goes like this.
Vada-Sambar: Though the sambar was good in terms of spiciness and ingredients I found Vada bit salty.
Khali Dosa: Its a signature dish in here. I can say its very close to Dwaraka Hotel khaali Dosa. Quantity is also too good.
Masal Dosa: This restaurant offers a great Masal Dosa. Aloo Palya is just fine enough to satisfy your taste buds. I just love the combination of Dosa-Palya-Chutney here.
Chutney: If you can't handle the spiciness, then beware while immersing your dosa in chutney. Its toooo spicy. Man! I love their chutney.
Coffee and Tea will just good as usual.
This Restaurant has a dedicated parking lane for two wheeler. So, parking wouldn't be a problem. As per my observation many people opt for Kharabath & kesari baath too. So, would like to try it in near future.
FINAL VERDICT: If you stay nearby you should not miss this hotel at any cost. Good Food in a Nominal price.
Old hotel located in a small lane and the food is good here
No car parking available
Service is slow and the cashier is not friendly
It’s better to order online
Must try - Set dosa with vegetable saagu
Food is excellent, reminds of the 90s charm of Bengaluru. Very similar to Hotel Dwarka , NR colony (heard the owners r brothers) and Khali dosa with palya, masala dosa and rava Vada is a must have ! However UPI payments are accepted with resistance.
Mangala hotel is a well known for khali dose which is an old hotel in hanumanth nagar - Bengaluru. I'm going to this hotel from past 17 years when I was new to Namma Bengaluru as it was in the same locality and every weekend was a ritual to have bfast in mangala hotel. Previously it was a small hotel now they shifted to new place with more space (though you hardly get chair to sit😀). The best part is the taste of khali dose haven't changed in these years. They have still maintained their authenticity, hotel old charm and cleanliness. Everytime i visit this place i relish the khali dose as same as 17 years ago. They give two super spongy khali dose with watery spicy chutney and butter( have to pay extra for butter). They have limited menu like uddina vade, rava Vada, kesaribath, masala dose, bisibelebath are yummy among the menu. Though always it will be crowded but service is super fast.when you are in this area don't miss this hotel to have their signature dish - Khali dose with your family and friends.
Excellent Khali dose. Liquid chutney. please break pieces of dose and soak them in chutney like paste and relish. it will taste like you have tasted nothing like it before.
Better than dwarka hotel Khali Dose.
Today tried rawa Wade. Interesting but RS 20 for one single small wada is a bit of over pricing.
It's an old hotel in the same location for a very long time. Once very popular and very busy hotel. Today, there aren't many customers there, sad to see that. Their Khali Dosa is awesome, Masala Dosa is great too. Carrot halwa is awesome. I can't believe they are not as busy as they once used to be

The moment you enter, you will find the old vibes of Bangalore. Dosa verities are so tasty with spicy chutney. Rawavada was super tasty
The best place for having Bisi Bele Bath, and Dosa in entire Bangalore! This is the place I end up taking my family and friends whenever they are in town. I love their filter coffee! Also they are super cheap when compared to other darshini's in that vicinity.
Mangala Hotel is closed on Tuesdays ("mangala"wara)- Ensure not to visit the place on Tuesdays.

A very old style and actually Old hotel which servers best Dose options. Their Masala and Kali dose are really good. Vade sambar was simple and nice. Cool and calm place. Not to forget Awesome Coffee.
Service can definitely improve!
