This is a must visit place while you are travelling towards Kanakapura. The quality is up to the MTR standards. This place will always be crowded, specially during weekends. So you might have to wait for dosa. You should definitely end with a filter coffee.
We were here by 7:30 am today and this MTR is absolutely gorgeous. There's greenery all around and early morning, it's absolutely beautiful.
We ordered their masala dosa with badam halwa, Chandrakala and their Sunday special chandrahara.
The masala dosa was great, as expected, absolutely delicious. The best thing we had today was the badam halwa, you guys need to try that, it's extremely delicious! The Chandrakala is as expected, their Sunday special chandrahara was delicious, doused in thick, delicious milk, only downfall for me personally was the flavour of camphor which I'm not a fan of. All in all, great!
Food: 4/5
Service: self service
Ambience: 4/5

This is inside a small food court on the bypass of kanakpura road.
We had curd Vada, Kesari bath, Bonda and tea. Kesari bath was too yumm. Neither it was greasy nor it was too sweet. Perfect taste. Loved it.
Bonda was very crispy, hot and soft. Good to go with chutney.
This place has maintained food quality very well in affordable price.
Must try place if you are going via kanakpura road.
The brand name speaks for itself...
On our way to ashram, we stopped in MTR to refuel our tummy 😁
We ordered several varieties of snacks items like Rava Idly, soup bonds, onion uttapam and plain dosa.
Loved the food especially the onion uttapam.
If you want real taste of dosa, you should visit MTR. The place is slightly hidden from kanakpura road. It is slightly before sri sri ashram, if you're coming from kanakpura. Food is priced reasonably. Parking space is huge.
Finally!
My first MTR outlet.....
after been hearing about it for a while from my friend.
You can have , Best of everything...
Doesn't matter what you order... But everything is very good....
Been here while we were heading to Ooty....
Location is very simple as it's next to Art Of Living Int'l Center...and at the slip road next to the Kanakpura Toll....coming from the B'luru's reknown NICE highway....
Brilliant location. Anyone on a road trip from Bangalore should visit this place. It's calm and soothing. Also, the food items are fantastic. Their masala dosa with filter coffee combination is evergreen. One should also try their rava idli with ghee as an add on.
Good hotel in this locality..
Morning breakfast place.. 😍
Masale dosey was too good and also rava idly..
They serve some unique taste food which will lure you again and again
Mtr on kanakpura road near to sri sri ravi shankar and kagglipura is a bliss for highway riders very neat and hygienic! The rava idli with the ghee as an add on is just out of the world!
Love this place for the ambience and setting. This is always our first pit stop when we step out of Bangalore.
Love their masala dosa and chutney. Service is quick and very friendly place!
We had breakfast here on a busy weekend. There was a long line but we got our food quite quickly.
The taste lives up to the MTR reputation. Tried the masala dosa, chow chow bath, rava idly and ended with some hot coffee.
Masala dosa was crisp and delicious, one of the best in Bangalore.
The price is on the higher side though. The restaurant is a little away from the main road and is located amidst trees. However the ambience of the restaurant could be better.
PS- There is a small shop in the restaurant with snacks for road. Do try the bitter gourd chips!!
Breakfast scenes on a team outing... When you have a MTR around how can you miss going there.. N me the odd woman out with my favorite... Chow Chow bhath.....Full of ghee and all goodness.... Yummm!!!
This place is on a small Cross road at kanakpura road near to to Sri ravishankar ashram.
Took special meals, flavoured milk and maddur vada.
The meals was really good, bisibele bath was standout with every small item freshly made and very tasty.
The mini masala dosa was fabulous and overall the platter I had dint have any minuses.
This iconic restaurant is one of the most popular food joints among vegetarians in Bangalore .mtr is well known for their rava idli which was invented accidentally during the world war 2.
They have multiple outlets spread across Bangalore.if you are around kanakpura road for a long ride this place is perfect to stop by for breakfast or lunch.
Ambience -the place is squeaky clean , authentic and the staff very friendly.
Food -food is a little light on spice level but high on flavours.
Their legendary masala dosa and bisibelebath loaded with desi ghee are finger licking good .
Value for money -its slightly overpriced however worth it considering the hygiene factor and consistent quality .
Altogether it's a great place to experience authentic south Indian breakfast in bangalore .
Freaking authentic and the most awesome homely and friendly staff. Somehow the real hospitality oozes out of all the people around. Seems they are just not interested in the business, its more about preserving the culture. Food is, according to me, pretty authentic. Loved the indifferent and yet affectionate charm about the place.
Being new to Bangalore, we wanted to explore some authentic places.. Got to know about MTR and Food is very authentic and tasty here. Loved the Kara bhath and ghee roast. I did not like the sambar though. Vada and chutney were good.
Summary : excellent breakfast, worth the distance
Food (4.5/5) : we tried the classics, masala dosa, upmma and coffee. The masala dosa is to die for, it is served with liquid warm ghee which needs to be spread over the dosa. Yummy!
The upma is definitely a specialty and tastes different from the upma of other Darshini for sure. Its a must try.
The coffee at MTR is legendary as well. It's the traditional filter coffee; take it strong and sweet.
Ambiance (3/5) : casual dining ambiance.
Service (3.5/5) : quick fast self service
Value for money (4/5) : the breakfast is totally worth it.
Worth a try : masala dosa, upma, coffee
Idly was soft as butter.Vada was too crispy.
Sambar tasted delicious.Masala dosa quality can be improved.
Ambience was compact.Overall it is a nice place to have a fine breakfast.

Overall worth stopping here.
This place is on the way from Bangalore-Kanakapura road . As Kanakapura serves as a in-between stop for those who are traveling or Biking to Sangam , muttati , Shivanasamudra bluff can stop at this MTR for a yummy breakfast early morning n lunch in the noon & also while returning back to blore . If you guys want to have authentic Southindian cuisine at the legendary NAMMA MTR ... this must be a place marked on your maps ... Now a small cafe called mc cafe is also attached for instant finger food & coffee too .. ambient place , lots of greenery around , ample parking space for 4 & 2 wheelers . Bikers don’t miss this place .
Good :-
Amazing tasty proper South Indian food, great rava idlis, masala dosa's (could improve on aloo stuffing taste in it), coffee, Khama bath(Upma), Kesari bath, all South Indian foods here are amazing which was as expected, as it's their speciality.
Bad :-
This restaurant is difficult to find from the main road with just one or two small non visible board on the side of the main road. Seating or ambience is shared with another restaurant here as it is considered as a small 2 restaurant food court, hence the seating is very basic & simple.
Worse :-
On weekends it gets very busy with small queues at the cash counter, & the seating place gets very noisy coz of lot of ppl & also customers from the other restaurant too adding upto the seating place.
Recommended anytime for proper South Indian food to anyone who is around the area, infact clearly a best place for ppl travelling on kanakpura road for a proper meal, just try avoiding peak breakfast/lunch/dinner times on weekends...!
Well what can you say about MTR.. Its the same nostalgic taste. We ordered vada, Masala dosa, coffee and chandrahara (available only on Sundays).
The taste was the same in good sense. The service was good as well, the only minus point was it was not as clean as other outlets I have been to.
It has whole bunch or sweet and savoury collection which I did not find at the Indranagar outlet.
Nice place far out from the city. Only DSATM & Art Of Living campuses are close by. No disturbances. Good place to stop when planning any ride/drive on Kanakapura Road. Same amazing MTR standard.
Only disappointment was the place isn’t like a proper restaurant. It’s like a cafeteria & still undergoing renovation.
Please note that it's self service. Very close to Art of living on the kanakpura main road but its located in the side roads and not on the main road as the google map shows. We ordered mini meals, poori, dosa, musambi juice, rave idli etc.. and all of them were very tasty. Service was quick. Their kitchen looked hygienic but they can improve the seating place. They definitely need to improve the rest rooms it was worstly maintained. Ample parking space was available.
Zomoto gives constantly incorrect information. Zomoto says 6.30 am open. The restaurant opens only at 8 am. We arrived by 7.30 after a long drive and had to wait. ZONTO PLEASE dONT GIVE INCORRECT INFO!
It is situated right after Sri Ravishankar Ashram. If u ask me about it's ambience, I would rate it 7 on 5. We really loved the greenery around the restaurant. Coming to food, we ordered pongal, masala dosa and coffee. Seriously I had never eaten more tastier pongal than this one before. Loved the place. Will definitely visit again.
Saved us from an empty stomach while on an early morning road trip. The dosas with the ghee atop are yum. The badam milk was also great, though a little too sweet to my liking. The place has decent seating though the counter can get crowded.
Masala dosa super
Watermelon juice the bestest
Idli average
Interiors boring
Good place for a light breakfast
Service is flow....can visit again
Came here to have breakfast before heading for a long drive. My family and I had pongal, vada and coffee. The food was delicious and the service was very good. The place was pretty crowded but we managed to find a place to sit. So overall it was a nice experience.
If not for the sign board and google map one can easily miss this place. This place is situated near Dayanand Sagar engineering college near The art of living ashram on Kanakapura road. The restaurant is situated inside a food court along with two other eateries. The Ambience is on par with most of their other outlets.
Mavalli Tiffin Room (MTR)
Authentic brand which is spreading the traditional foods of karnataka since 1924. The brand which introduced RAVA IDLY to the Idly family.
There are many outlets in the city which are maintaining their own standards in taste and hygiene.
This outlet is located next to Dayanand Sagar college at Kanakpura road, Near Art of Living.
Menu had Breakfast, Lunch/ Dinner, Combo meals, Evening Tiffin, Beverages and Sweets and Savouries.
They have a small Kiosk counter which had their own Bakery products, Spices, Masla powders, Sweets and Instant mixes.
Yet it was evening when we visited, ordered Rava Idly, Masala Dosa and Coffee.
Everthing was hot served, there was nothing to point and tell.
Coffee was strong enough to refresh.
MTR made a very good dission by opening a small and simple outlet here.

It's more of a food court but the food is good. If you are on the highway, nice place to come and have MTR food. Coffee and bisebelle bath is amazing as always. Cheers!!
Dishes are tasty and good but a bit pricey. overall, liked the place. Sitting area is good and have got a ample parking space. Will visit again .

But for the ambiance and self service, I would have rated this 4.5. Just after the Sri Sri ashram blink-and-you-miss the left turn you find this nice place. But once you go into the food court and realise it's a self service all your enthusiasm to enjoy a nice meal vanishes. Hope they get their own fine dining place.
MTR is a name that every south Indian fan loves. I've tried a variety of items in almost all their restaurants. This place was a little disappointing as it did not match the taste of the items that I've had at other MTRs earlier. The prices are also expensive but the quality compromises it. A great place for a vegetarian treat.
To start with, I usually don't prefer dining in veg only restaurants. Up on my friend's compulsion and tired of trying back to back non-veg food for 2-3 days, we decided to try this veggie place out.
MTR is a well known Legendary name when it comes to packaged foods business. I can't remember the last time not buying MTR Gulab Jamun mix on special occasions since my childhood days. However, I haven't heard much about this restaurant until I came to know about its history and existence from my friend.
Unlike the luxury associated with MTR brand (my perception on their brand), ambience of this place is quite simple. Coming to the food, we ordered Masala Dosa, Idly, Pongal and vada. I wouldn't say that the food is extraordinary. I did have quite an expectation visiting this place and so it was a mixed feel for me. Idli was not soft and fluffy but taste was decent. Masala Dosa was as tad too oily but again it tasted good. Consistency of Pongal was not to my liking and so I didn't feel like tasting it.
Overall, it was an average dining experience at MTR.
Like always MTR is Marvelous Trendy Rejoicing. It has been a brand which has always lived up to the name. Fresh food, authentic taste, quick turnaround in service, multiple outlets. Saviour for travellers on long routes.

For a long time kanakapura road near the Art of living area was missing a good veg hotel, thanks to MTR, price could be a bit high but worth the money. The tine dollop of ghee over dosa, awesome tea/coffee, they also have a bakery with sweets (not that great), the food is awesome
From the vintage look to the waiting time to the taste - every thing we tried here for breakfast was epic! A morning walk at lalbagh is incomplete without a scrumptious breakfast at the legendary MTR. The melt-in-the-mouth halva to the soaked-in-ghee upma to unbelievably good saagu with rava idli served with a cute portion of ghee to ghee roast masala dosa.. One was better than the other!! We were a bit disappointed that the sambar and vadas were out of stock. Well! Can't argue on that.. You get what you get coz its THE MTR! We finished off this epic breakfast with a strong filter kaapi with style in a silver tumbler! Yes! Real silver ;)
Went here for the first time and boy wasn't it good!
We were 6 people and had Idli, Pongal, Masala Dosa, Plain Dosa and Badam Shake.
It was authentic South Indian food and the taste was again; authentic.
The ambience is good; no special decoration and yet good. The price was also standard and not too heavy on pockets.
I'll any day go there again for breakfast.
Quite a place to stop for decent South Indian dishes if you are travelling through the Kanakpura Road , and of course many of the MTR products that are available, from biscuits to buns to cakes. We ended up ordering bisibelebath, onion dosa and bonda soup today after having stopped for COFFEE :-D there is ample parking space, some natural light for the interiors would do some good, since they have a lot of open space around. Sesame, coriander and tamarind apart some 'namooru ' feeling is required :-)
This is a much smaller outlet, and we went there on the way back from Kanakapura. From my earlier MTR Whitefield experience, I kept my expectations low. But it turned out that this outlet was much cleaner and the staff was also more courteous. The food was standard MTR.
I would say decent place, not a WOW experience but definitely okay.
Visited this MTR outlet which was on the route during our office outing at KHEDDA.
Morning breakfast is something special at places like MTR especially for rava idlis.
The place welcomes one with colorful chairs although the ambience is poor and has scope for improvement.x
We ordered
Pongal - hot and has perfect spice.
Masala dosa - crispy red with potato onion masala inside which makes it special with ghee.
Idli vada, Khara baat along with coffee, tea are average.
This place has a self service counter and no service.
Ambient space for car parking is a big add on.
MTR....It's a place you always go with a lot of expectation and yes in terms of food it does match your expectation ..It's yummy Karnataka food outlet ..the Dosa's ,Rava Idly's ,upma ...all yumm.
In my opinion they should consider improving the ambiance of the place ,they have space they can use it to the fullest.
Food was good, parking place was great ,Masala Dosa was great, Ajji rotti( thalipatti) was ok, mangalore Bhajji was awesome, bond soup was ok, sweets ( kaju Burfi,..)were nice tea was good
Best place for veggies in Kanakapura road as of now. I absolutely love masala dosa, rava dosa, rava idli, bisi belebath. Don't miss badam halwa. It just melts inside your mouth.
Awesome vegetarian food ! 3 things not to miss:-
1. Breakfast items like Dosa, Pongal etc
2. Veg mini meal, less oily, delicious
3. Sweet shop - yummy fresh sweets & excellent namkeen items like chips/chakli etc
They have many loyal customer & word of mouth gets them new customers. Probably that's the reason they don't market, not even a ad hoarding.
For veggies it's a must visit !!!

Been for Lunch with family on Saturday last. The good part is - away from maddening city crowd, no parking issues. It appears to double up as food court for companies near by. No sign boards etc. pretty basic seating, nothing called 'ambience'. Self service. Ordered mini meals for us, and dosa/snacks for kids. Meals Ok - start with grape juice, dosa/poori, rice, sambar, rasam, etc - average stuff. Bisi bele bath quite good, as was rava vada. Side dishes - ordinary. Dosa etc ..regular fare. For self service and limited variety 160 bucks for lunch is high. Not worth dying for, but if you are going towards AOL, it's an option. Better than Adigas though.
We dashed into this secretive looking location after a long ride. We were hungry and exhausted. The mini meal was anything but mini! Great variety. Generous quantity. Kanakpura Road needed a place like this!!! Shubra Acharya,Satvik Shahapur
Quite easy to miss this place if you're not looking for it. It's got ample parking space and is set in the midst of a peaceful garden.
Tasty food! We had 2 meals (one with dosa and the other with poori), a kara bath and a pongal. Everything tasted good except for the pongal (quite bland).
We were there at lunch time on a weekend and the place was filled up. Considering that this is outside the city, I wasn't expecting this.
The main negative was the self-service that was aggravated by the rush at the time.
Off Kanakapura road, it is a nice option for a quick grab. Dosas are perfectly cooked, topped with Ghee, Sunday Special Thali would be a nice option if you happen to be there on that day. And filter coffee (kaapi) is a must.
Stopped here on my way to Shivasamudram. Located in a very quiet corner of Bangalore, this place serves great food. Of course you won't have the same taste as that of the original MTR, nevertheless the food is really good and tasty. One can just drive from Bangalore, have the food, enjoy the ambiance, relax and unwind away from the bustling crowd.
Nothing to debate about MTR taste and authenticity. #MTR Kanskapura road near SriRavishankar Ashram, is for drive in crowd. Ample car parking and a scenic place. Today 26th July, I went with my family for dinner. As unusual we went with Mothers favourite Rava Dosa, ordered 3 of them and set Dosa for wife n daughter. Since it's a self service restaurant, need to collect food from counter. The boy at the counter kept two rava Dosa in one tray and other dosa in another one. I took both trays, one plate slipped and fell down. Even though it was my mistake, the boy apologised and from the counter they ordered for one more Rava Dosa, I offered money but they did not accept.
So great about MTR is not jut about taste, but also customer experience !!
Need not say much about the famous brand!! First of all you need to keep an eye for the place after the Ravishankar Ashram as you may miss it easily!! Its in a company's food court but open for public as well!! All their items are fresh and tasty..Masala dosa, plain dosa and rava dosa is amazing!! There is a mini thali for 110/- as well which is quite filling!! Weekends you get the MTR spl chandrahara which is out of the world!!
Located in a remote area near Sri Sri Ravishankar Ashram,MTR is the best place to have your lunch or dinner.
I had rava idli & plain dosa here and they were very tasty.
Staff people are very good.
Ambience is ok.
One of the stalwarts of South Indian delicacy stamping its authority here! Located in a food court on a ride to kpura road.. Serene location with ample parking facility, good seating area and authentic Indian breakfast.. You also have a mast Kalandar in here.. A good eat spot!
Worth a visit again!
Well definitely a place to go once in a while. Most of the snack items are very good. Especially the Dosas & Masala Dosas and Kesari baath.
I have a special liking towards Kesari Baath in the MTR 1924's. They are consistent and very good.
Today I was at Indira Nagar outlet and was having South Indian special meal. But my observations are the same for the one in JP Nagar Mini forest and Forum value mall as well. This comes with a host of items like a welocme drink, Kosambari, Palya, Poori / masala dosa, Bisi bele baath, papads, raita, sambar/rasam/curd with rice, fruit salad with ice cream and couple of sweets.
The South Indian meals too is generally good. But hasn't been my favourite for sometime now. Every time I take and waste most of the items. The taste, I feel, isn't as good as the Original MTR near LalBagh. Need to go there again and check.
The one in Indira Nagar is on 100ft Road after CMH road and towards Old Madras road in the left side [same side a Toit]. The restaurant by itself is neat and nice with a coconut tree in the middle of the restaurant.
Weekend evenings its generally pretty crowded, but its fast moving and hence typically you may not have to wait for more than 10-15 minutes. Parking is on public parking and at times its difficult to get one - especially with Zoom car outlet near by.. You might have to move around a bit to park. As usual, take care not to disturb the residences nearby when you park!
Pretty nice location but with a very limited menu.. Food was tasty as usual authentic South Indian food at its best :) Very close to art of living :)
Clean place that has both south and north dishes. Had South Indian Thai for Rs. 150 with my parents and was good. This place just got started and does not yet attract large crowd.
Was visiting the Ravishankar ashram on Kanakura rd. There is a food court about 1 km away with an MTR and Mast Kalandars. Went there on a weekday night around 9 pm
POPULARITY INDEX
In spite of being at a remote location there were customers at the outlet at 9 pm GOOD SIGN
AMBIENCE
Comfortable food court light airy nothing fancy
CLEANLINESS
Extremely clean and hygienic
FOOD
Ordered their thali rs 100 grape juice rs 50 and gulab jamun 25
Thali had papad, dosa, rasam, chutney sambhar, subzi, kurma, rice, curd rice, payassam. Every single item was PERFECT AND OUTSTANDING. The sambhar has a rich coconut cream base unlike other places where it is watery. Curd rice had cashews. Chutney had a lot of fresh dhania flavor. Grape juice was the BEST I have had anywhere. Pure nirvana smooth creamy high grape quality. Gulab jamun was a total dissapointment.
SERVICE
Quick and Friendly
OVERALL THIS IS CERTAINLY ONE OF THE BEST SOUTH INDIAN PLACES. NO COMPARISON AT ALL TO THE MEDIOCRE FOOD AT PLACES LIKE A2B
Very nice location, right beside Kanakapura main road. Good parking space available. The restaurant is also huge that can accommodated heavy rush. Food is as usual the typical MTR taste. Overall a good place to visit after a nice drive in this road.
The Classic MTR is one among the commonly known restaurants in Bangalore.
I think it’s come down a bit taste wise.
Hygiene and neatness is fine.
I also felt filter coffee which used to be the best is missing something, and didn’t taste well.
But I think MTR is a better option than going to an unknown restaurant.
The food is always yummy at MTR, been to other places. Their service and ambience is good. Value for money. They are bang on kanakpura main road with parking space
MTR Restaurant near Art of living, is renowned for maintaining impeccable taste and quality across all its outlets. Their Puri Bhaji is a delightful and authentic dish that captures the essence of traditional flavors. The perfectly puffed puris paired with flavorful potato bhaji create a memorable culinary experience that keeps customers coming back for more.
MTR has always been a great place for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You get great yummy South Indian food. This centre was really good. The hotel is nicely maintained. The staffs are friendly. The food is yummy. There is art of living right opposite to this hotel.
After years, felt like taking family to MTR. Had their south meals and crispy dosas!!! The meals are Always worth it!! Love their rasam!!
Masala dosa is amazing here!!
Good that this MTR is away from city, no traffic + a nice weekend ride!
Great place to have one of the best South Indian dishes. Good staff and very professional
Shifted right onto the kanakapura main road, used to be located in a nice green place nestled-in a little interior before.
Came here after a long bicycle ride and enjoyed every dish they served for breakfast, especially the pongal. Found the place to be much more clean and cozy than their old premisis.
The iconic MTR. Very good spacious place. The food is just the same in regard to the taste and quality. Must try is their Mangalore buns here that are soft and crispy and just delicious it was also served along with the coconut and raw mango chutney which was just the icing on the cake. The bisibele bath is just pure bliss. You should also check out their bakery items that include the cupcakes and the other sweets they make. Very good place for delicious food and worth your money and time .
Well, we stopped only for the famous MTR house filter coffee after a heavy wedding dinner. Even at 9.45 pm we were not disappointed.
We were served hot coffee with varied individual specifications and with a happy face.
The restaurant is on the kanakpura road close to art of living. Ample parking space.
The foreign imported and start up coffee s are no competition to them.
Thank you MTR for the late hours and warm welcome
Great place. Great food. Breakfast meals are slightly costlier than lunch meals. But great taste. No wonder this is their 99th year. ✨️💛 (1st two photos are from Kankpura branch and last two photos are from St. Mark Road branch)
Such nice food from lovely people. We had the Chili-Cheese-Sandwich with Spicy Fries, the special Tea and Cookies. All very yummy and absolutely recommendable.... just go and try
1. Excellent taste - as is expected of a MTR outlet
2. Exceptionally quick service by efficient servers
3. Ideal for travelers with the place right on the highway and opposite to the Art of Living centre on Kanakpura Road
4. Filter coffee on menu claims to be 100% pure with zero chicory
Misses out on the 5th star due to the attitude of the manager who just had to rush everything.
Good. Food tasted good, ample seating space available. The signature MTR special meals available. Enough Parking is available.
MTR always offers good food. This one is more spacious than the rest of the MTRs I have been to. Located right opposite the main entrance of "The Art of Living" Ashram.
Amazing place. Must try dosa, it's unique. American ice cream was also amazing, just a lot of pineapple slices.
Overall a 4.5/5
Excellent service!
Ordered Special thaali, which includes;
Poori, masala dosa, kheer, jeera rice, curd rice, sambhar rice, bisi bale baath, curd vada and Fruit salad with ice cream.
All unlimited at 325 Rs.
