I heard they brew their own beer here. They have one plus one during happy hours too ! The draught beer was the best. Probably the best I've ever tasted. It's smoothly brewed beer that's not diluted like they do in other pubs. Doesn't have the environment of a party kind of a pub with a huge screen TV, EDM music etc. It's quiet( at least it was when I went, which was on a lousy Wednesday afternoon), dark and dingy and personally, that's the kind of place I'd go to with my buds. The food is good too. For the price they offer, the starters always tickle your tongue to order more and it's not going to cut holes in your wallet. Definitely recommend this place if you like a quiet, private place to have the best beer ever brewed and order some munchies while talking about good 'ol times !

The place is nothing but piece of British history, amazing ambience, makes you feel you are in a London pub. Their happy hours is bliss, so much pocket friendly.

This place has INSANE food. Must try. Cocktails are not good though. But a kingfisher and the tandoori is bound to make your day. Not a happening party place.

After rather a not so good experience at nearby pub on Church St decided to try Downtown. People familiar with the old world pubs of world can appreciate better this place. Interiors remind one of an English pub with all the wooden panelling and the leather seating. Beer was refreshing and fortunately we could get some KF draught. Staff are attentive and service is good. Loved the big screen with RCB match screening along with some chilled beer and bar bites. I will definitely recommend if one is not looking for one of those fancy and funky places.

Their happy hours offers are crazy and a great place to get hammered. The down - Can't carry your beer to the smoking zone, music quality has degraded.
Downtown is one of those pubs on residency road that gives you Deja Vu if you've spent your college days in Bangalore. Loads of memories, this place has seen its glory days, and still goes on as most economical pub on brigade road.

Writing review but visited downtown pub in the year of 2011. Now you can understand that I still remember my experience and taste of the food. Also the service. However I apologise for late review. Love the taste of the beer. Love the food. Service was okayish. Love the ambience of the place. You just have to spend some normal good time with ur everyday friends and enjoy a match if u can. Need not be a gala time. Hoping forward to visit this place again if I go to Bangalore. And also this place is liked by all my family members and they have been visiting it for past 10 yrs. I suggest this place for all

Down town is known for it's French style bar. It is there from many years, which is having that old look even now and then. A very nice, descent place to chill out with friends. But not the best place for family and couples. The rates are very reasonable, the staff people are friendly and just as I enter the place, about my experience was, I felt totally I am in French bar. It looked very attracting for the first time and had quiet an amazing evening. Best to hang out with friends and food is also up to the mark. Really worth for the price. Love to visit the place more often.
One of the classic British tavern style pubs in Bangalore which attracts a fairly good crowd. Must try's are of course the beer, peanut masala and chicken tikka. Apart from good food, ambiance and decent music, the waiters are really impatient and arrogant. They tend to serve you really impatiently and just want you to finish up and leave as quickly as possible. Bottom line, they don't wanna wait on you unless you keep doling out orders.

I wouldn't listen to any of the other reviews. If you like your Hoppipollas and similar "pubs", this isn't the place for you. If you're on a budget, want to chill out and maybe indulge in a nice conversation with some interesting people, this is where you should be.
Place is nice, food taste also good, if they will improve the service then definitely they can do better. Price are also not bad..Can't say that wl visit or not next time....

A little away from the busy brigade road, you have to struggle or rather walk a bit to reach here. As soon as you enter the pub, it's this posh but dim set up where you can just feel that you are at the right place. You would find people having a nice time, hanging out, chilling, enjoying their drinks, the ambience itself talks about the place. One good thing that I found here was the designated smoking room, so that it would not become an inconvenience for the non smokers.
We ordered one pitcher ( since it was the happy hours, we got one free, as in 1+1) and chilly chicken.

The place where most people had their first beer including me when I first visited bangalore. Located on the basement right next to brigade road this is one place which has pocket friendly prices with happy hours until 6pm round the year. Minimal setup with decent ambiance adds to the appeal mostly pulling in college crowd.

The moment you enter down town, you can sense the legacy it has in its architecture. furniture, styling from retro Bollywood, mirrors and 90s time.
This place haven't much changed with time, nor its people. you could still see old guys serving the tables with trademark bow tie.
Ambiance: multiple TV, watch your sport and inhouse dj which plays Bollywood to retro English pop and occasional rock music. low lighting, comfy seating.

Drinks: drinks are damn cheap if you go for drought beer. during happy hrs you can get a drink 60 rs a glass of drought beer.
Food: desi style, you can get good, peanut Masala, finger chips, Onion rings in really good portions per serving enough for 3 ppl for 2-3 drinks. Biryani is great.
Overall its good to go at-least once and see where people were drinking in Bangalore in 1990s and when you are short on cash and have tanker friends to treat.

A pocket friendly place and a great location too. A place for a nice hangout with friends. Happy hours are available in evening with BOGO offer. Sides are really delicious. There's a closed area incase you're accompanied with girls and don't really want them to get exposed to the rest of the crowd.
The Adda for all those colleges in the central business district! Downtown has been the go to place for their yummy food and cold draught beer. If you are on a budget, this place has the cheapest and best kingfisher draught.

While the staff is courteous, they do come off being greedy while paying the bill which should not be the case. Something for the management to look into.

I remember walking by this place a lot of times never going in or even noticing it properly. It's sits in the basement of the building and you pretty much can't make out what's going on inside unless its a special night and music is loud. The ambience is literally like 'stepping into a neighborhood regular bar that you see in hollywood movies' old school small tv over a small bar counter. That's what I liked about the place. The food is just average and you'll get your beers and whiskeys at almost affordable prices.
I'll get right to the point. The beer they serve is Kingfisher. The prices are great during happy hours which is until 6pm. They serve 1 plus 1 free for beer during happy hours which is a good deal in Brigade road and costs about the same as the other places around like Pub world. Be careful though because they serve both the mugs/pitchers at the same time so order accordingly if you don't want to get your beer warm.
The ambience is forgivable. There are places on Brigade with much better ambience but I won't hold it against it. It is quite an old place and according to a friend they have renovated it recently.ย
The snacks are good, and served fast. But what really sets this place apart from the hundred other pubs in brigade road is the service. The waiters are really good and are helpful on what to order and not. They might be a little old but they know what the customer wants.
Beer is just great it has a very fresh taste to it and it is one of the most affordable pubs in Bangalore. Very nice place to chill and have a drink with friends. Food is okay but there's always a chance to improve.

When you get low on cash you cone here. The pricing is good. The food is okay and the music is something you have to adjust with. But it does have a smokers zone so the rest of us can breathe easily.

Hmmm... Let me review on my "Good Old Place". Well, we call this DTP as Good Old Place... This restaurant use to be favourite for all my friends during the college days. This pub is located exactly beside Advaith Hyundai in Residency Road.
This is also one of the oldest pubs in Bangalore and still many of my friends prefer a draught beer here.
Price of the beer is very less compare to other pubs in this locality...
I been here several times with my friends...
Options are very less in Starters especially for Vegans..

One of the oldest pubs in Bangalore. The whole place is vibrating with wood and age has made it gloomy and dark. Nice ambience where you can hang out with friends for some strong kf beer and good food especially when your pockets are empty towards the end of the month.
The prices are super cheap so you don't really have to worry about budget. And this review is ONLY for the guys and NOT girls!! The reason I say this is because its more or less a bar but with better ambience. So you can see very few girls and a lot of old folks towards the end of the day.

This was a buzzing place around 2 decades ago. The days when rock pubs were the โthingโ in bangalore. Gone are those days and the places.
This place was in not so great shape but they renovated it. You have a nice american diner on the top (only on looks). Very airy and decent menu. You have pub on the lower side. Nothing is there that links to the old one. So we can treat it as a new place with an old name.
I must say they have done a good job. Good options on seating. Good menu and does taste well. The service was quite good - plus. Special mention to Clement who was attending to us. We were a large group and they catered to us very well.

This place is one of the oldest establishments in the city. It's been completely renovated with its interiors being more spacious, adding more greenery and sufficient lighting to make the place a viable hotspot to hang out with your buddies on a Saturday evening. Coming to the food, we had the Chicken Hot Dogs and Onion Rings which tasted delicious. The drinks like Jungle Cat and John's Love Portion tasted different and were good. Service is fine too and the prices here, are very reasonable. Check this place out for sure.

Went to this place after a decade and definitely the vibe is the same, though the place has been renovated and food and drinks have been updated, but the vibe is still the same. Clement the waiting staff did an amazing job by bringing us everything on time and by suggesting few good dishes which was good.
Downtown definitely a go to place, the only downside was the food portions, which can be improved rest all was in place and the availability of toit beer on the tap was a feather in the cap. Good job team Downtown and a big thanks and shoutout to Clement.
American Diner in the middle of Residency Road. Service is fast and portions are good. Ambience they have tried to keep to an American Diner and quite successful at that. Not much of a crowd during day time and a nice place to have lunch and catch up on conversation with friends.
The good old DTP restored and improved. The Kingfisher draught beer is quite good compared to some of the known pubs that serve draught beer. There's a bit of crispness to it. Must also say the food is very delicious. I had BLT sandwich, bacon wrapped sausage, onion rings, apple pie and fries which all were really good. From the time you enter till you leave the staff take care of you making sure you have a good time at DTP. I've visited thrice and Vika has always been giving his best for a great service, professional and friendly at that. A frequent place for me for sure.

The cocktails tastes amazing! They are pretty mild though. I got through 4 cocktails and was still pretty sober. Got chicken wings peri peri flavour and it complimented very well.
