Being an Odia guy,I love Vishal restaurant and Irony is that shop owner Mr Hemant Patra is such a nice person and whatever he is now bcoz of his struggle in Bangalore.
I love Vishal sweets.
I am from Odisha and we love our sweets this place is doing justice to all those Odiya sweet delicacies .
I had a special dish Chhatu Patrapoda. Even I never had tasted it at native. It was superb.
Dahi baigan was a disappointment.
Visited this Place few days back. Writing this review after 2 days of Continuous Visit. Ordered 3 aloo Chop .Taste was So Amazing.Must Recommend this Place. They should put Water Bottle on the Table.
It’s a great place for Oriya people staying in Marathalli who crave for homely delicious Oriya cuisine. Have been to this place many times. They have variety of Oriya recipes which anyone would love to eat. Their pakhal (rice in water with curd and tadka to it) served with different side dish is a best seller during summer days. Their Fish masala , mutton kassa and mutton curry are must try, goes quite well with steamed rice. They also have variety of sweets which you can have to kill your sweet cravings- Oriya Rasgolla not Bengali ones are must have.
Quite popular in munnerkolalla .Good meals are served here.Try muri ghonto(made with fish bones). The sweets are lovely too.loved the rasmalai.Apart from this on weekends they prepare luchi n cholar Dal in breakfast.Cheap n good place!
If you want authentic odia food, then this is one of the best places I have come across.
Tried the pakhala (rice water) thali with fish fry. It was quite good.
Note : This is not a place to go for ambience and comfort.
Rating just for the food.
The place was very small with the few tables. The ambiance is OK the service is at & fast. The staff is very friendly with us & the food tast was awesome..
Something new that i tried
Rabdi and chenna pudu
Like them a lot!!!!
A small and simple store, good for people who have a sweet tooth
More sweets to be tried
More new things to explore
This place is mostly crowded. The ambiance is plain and a bit dull. The service is quite fast. We always take away lunch and dinner from here. Paneer butter masala and tawa roti are a good option for dinner if you are a vegetarian. Their biryani is also good as per my friend's reviews.
This place offers good food with pocket friendly price. A place quite famous among the Odiyas for food and widely famous in all for the sweets they offer.
I would recommend kalmi kabab, moglai chicken with egg tadka. Mutton and chicken kasa/masala is worth trying.Chenapoda and rasagolla are must try here.
Staff is ok ok friendly, but at times food is delivered late due to rush.
Thank you for serving home style food away from home.
If you love Odiya or Bong food that too in a reasonable rate, this is the place for youLocated opposite of Amara Courtyard this is small and busy resturant. You can try all north Indian or Bong/Odiya dishes but undoubtedly Aalu-Patal (Parwal) kasha is the show-stopper
Vishal Sweets and Restaurant - as the name suggests it has a sweet shop unit as well as a restaurant. I tried both. And I have gone back to the place for the sweets not for the restaurant. Awesome sweets, If you have a sweet tooth and specially if you are from Odhisa or Bengal, you will love their varieties. Must try - Channa Poda.
Good food, fit to your pocket, odia food.... Had lunch which was good which saved me from having pg food. If you leave in pg and you are a odia... Should go for it
Being from Orissa, I went there after hearing from few of my friends who from Orissa. I did not like the place due to its ambience and crowd. Food is okay but not authentic Odia food as per me. The worst part is its service. They don't bother about the customers.

O Vishal.. my fav..
All mutton items, espcly mutton masala,, egg masala n tadka, dal fry r jst amazing n amazing.. i bet, no othr place cn evr compete thse 3 items here.. try n trust :)
& coming to sweet n snacks side, i hv a sweet tooth whch kicked me daily to ths place n i used to eat as mny as rasgullas i cud, continous scoldings frm frnds cud nly stop me frm eating, haha.. & gulabjamun, they mke it wonderfully..
Eat & Enjoy :)
An authentic Odiya Resturant. Though there are many odia restaurants in Bangalore, best on my knowledge this is the best Odiya resturant. It serves bothe snacks as well as meals. The most special thing about Vishal is, you will like having at home (less spicy, hygienic, maintain clinlyness) and that to with a pocket friendly budget.
Veg: If you love to have veg, "veg delux thali" is the best thing you can get here (only for lunch, not for dinner). It contains rice, dal, veg curry, baigana (bringel) Bharat, saga (special leafy item), dahi baigana, roti, khatta, pappad and a sweat. Other delicious veg dishes includes (I have tried, these are good) paneer chatpata, Mashroom masala....
Pros: Veg Manchurians are not that good. There is an item called Aloo Gobi which is not worth of.
Nonveg: Fish fry, pohala masala, Chicken chatpata are really worth of paying with nice test.
Snacks: Chhenapoda, Rasagola, chhena jhilli are the must try items. IF YOU ARE A FOODY & LOVE SWEATS, you must try these items here.
Suggestion: As this is an authentic Odia Resturant, every odia would expect to get Pakhala meal which you should start.
This review is specifically for those guys and girls of Bangalore who are new to this city and bored of having the same food in their office and PG. Your feeling of home sickness may vanish for some hours cause the food is very homely. Oriya people will like it more cause the food here will remind their taste buds of their native taste. Price is very reasonable and food is quite tasty.
Odiya food joint exactly opposite to SGR dental college in munnekolla . food was average didn't like much... pocket friendly and most of the times it will be crowded .
Another place in marthahalli where you can find authenticate Oriya food at some really pocket friendly price.... The service is great and the food is tasty as well as good in terms of quantity... They do have a sweet store attached to the restaurant where you would find some really good sweets... Do taste them if you get a chance to visit vishal.
Good Odia food at economical prices. Not much of an ambiance to speak of but still thronged by the hordes of IT crowd in and around that area.
Tried their Chicken Thali. Was pretty good, felt like home cooked food.
The Tomato Khatta- a quintessential odia dish was pretty good too.
A little too far away from where i stay to make this my regular food joint. But for those living close by im sure this would be featuring on their regular places to eat list.
Dont go expecting the world or imagine them cooking your "maa ke haath ka khana" and you will be pretty satisfied.
Authentic Odia food & Good value for money. Better, cleaner than other odia eateries in Marathahalli. Decent pricing for a variety of odia food.
All the Odiya food lover..... Just try food here.
You will fall in love with this place.
A awesomely pocket friendly place.
Prepare veg and non-veg equally good.
They have sweet shop just beside it.
Must try chicken kasa ,egg bhurgi and mix dry veg with fulka roti.
All time favorite will be veg -thalli.
I am regular customer of this place...
To all the odiya ppl.....Bhai au tanka bhauni mane...ghara mane padijiba. 😉😂
This place serves authentic Odiya cuisine food, which was very appealing in taste. Nothing special about the ambiance. Though the aspect is very dull but the kind of food they serve magnetizes a mammoth crowd. Patra Mushroom is one of their specials which runs out of their stock in a short span of time, due to high demand.
The pricing of the food apparently falls on a lower side. A pocket friendly restaurant amidst crowded area of Marathalli.
Have been here multiple times. Being from Odisha this place brings memories when one hears the names of the dishes. It is a savior when you have no mood to cook and want to have normal food. I liked the veg biryani here.
The place is full to capacity especially on weekends with maximum people opting for thalis. The cost is too good to be true!!
A very satisfied customer.
Have been here multiple times.Located in Munnekolala road.
Value for money restaurant and they have many varieties in veg as well as non veg cuisines.
I personally like Mutton and Fish over there.
Famous for it's snacks and desserts.
Samosa , Chena Poda and Rasogollas are must eat here.

Had been to this place ones, ordered mutton curry n rice n roti dal, everything tasted so good that i felt like am having mutton curry at home. Its worth giving money here for having a good non veg meal.highly recommended place for odia ppl around
Have been here couple of times. The food is very close to Odia cuisine. I had curd fish curry, was really good. The prices could be a little lowered to make it even better value for money. Staff were all right. Hygiene of the kitchen can be improved.
Daily veg and non-veg meals are what people look for here. This place is always flocked with the bachelor population of this area. Sometimes I feel that they put way more masala in their chicken/fish/egg curries, than needed. Rotis are hard and may contain maida. Chilli panner/chicken with roti can be ordered to try something different.
Variety of sweets are available. Very pocket friendly relative to other shops in bangalore.
this is one of regular place where I go to eat my favorite sweets, This restaurant has two parts one for Snacks and one for Lunch and Dinner, The Sweet and some of the snacks are relay awesome in the Snacks store but on the Other side the Meals are heavily priced and not value for money, So I will definitely recommend you to go to the Snacks Store if you are a Sweet Lover but don't go to the Other side.
nice place...a life saver if u are a bengali and yeah its money saver too if u are a student or bachelor.....
Food:-awesome food especially all the fish items are over there at an affordable price....no no..... i would say its damn cheap according to Bangalore standards.....food served is hot and tasty and u would eat to your hearts content in less than 200 bucks.
Service:-Its a pretty crowded place and they just have 3 waiters i guess...So u can imagine how it will be.,,,,
Ambience:-Not fantastic....U will definitely see cats frequently but thats ok...they wont eat off ur food or nything like that....Its adds to the scene....
Must visit for bachelors....don't go if u are "committed"' ...ur partners may not like the place.....
Vishal is a small restaurant which is only famous for its Oriya sweets and Oriya dishes. When i came to Bengaluru, my roomies pulled me there for a snacks and i had Samosa, biri vada and Chena Poda. Though the guguni n all the snacks items are not good but the taste of sweets item like Rasogola, chenna jhilli n chena poda is authentic n good in taste. Vishal has an adjacent shop which serves all the lunch n dinner items. I had my dinner for 3-4 times there. It seems they prepare all the items with the same gravy. I had Prawns Kassa and chicken butter masala. Taste is exactly same. Its a small restaurant n you to have to fight for a place.
Ambiance: 2 star
Service: 4 Star
Taste: 4 Star
Worth of Money if u r taking it away.
Simple and nice food. best place in Marathahalli for Bengali style foods and sweets. Fish items are nice. Just dnt go for normal thali, place customized order.
Good authentic odia food.Though the quantity served does not match the prices of dishes, but a very good place for regular dining.Recommended for daily meals.
I was looking to have dinner close to my place, without paying much and hence, was scouring the streets of Marathahalli. Me and roomie then ran out of options and thought of heading to Five Star Chicken on SGR Dental College road. As we were heading that way, we crossed this place. Now I had heard about this place from a colleague who brought sweets for his birthday from this place - Chenna Poda and Chenna Jhili. These are two Odia special delicacies. For those who don't know what they are, you can wiki them. So, we headed there to try our luck.
The place is quite small and would probably serve 35-40 people at a time. The ambiance was not the best. Being hungry that day, all I cared for was a table and some food. Extra points for having a TV and showing IPL. Anyways, we ordered a Chicken Kassa (Kassa means Bhuna) and Dalma. Now, a Dalma is just dal with all sorts of veggies, like potato, pumpkin, brinjal, etc in it. It is the most regular dish served with rice in the everyday household. It is more common than Dal in Odisha. Alongwith that, we ordered for 15 Tawa Rotis.
Here is something I noticed and look for in a restaurant. I actually don't care if their gravies are priced at 100 or 300 until they decent enough. But the basic Indian breads - Tawa Roti, Tandoori Roti, Naan, Kulcha, Roomali Roti should be nominally priced. What I see generally is, Tawa Roti - 15/20, Tandoori Roti - 20/25, Naan - 25/30 and so on. I need atleast 4-5 rotis to fill me and I feel insecure on spending 150 bucks for Roti only. Gladly, here it was only 6, and so we ordered 15 :).
The order came in pretty quickly. The Chicken Kassa was tasty. It was surely not very healthy but tasty enough to make me forget health. It was a tad bit spicy, but manageable. The Dalma was good. I felt it could have been a little thick and could have had more veggies in it, but taste-wise it was good. Rotis were fresh and we both just chomped off 15 of them in no time.
The service was average. Again, not something worth a special mention. Everyone there is an Oriya, so added advantages if you are one too. The ambiance, like I mentioned earlier. average. The place is really, really affordable. We paid 250 bucks for what we paid. Good to go with friends for quick and cheap dinner. Not the best place for a date or a family dinner.
All in all, an good place for a quick and cheap dinner, especially when I'm craving for Oriya food. Will go soon, maybe not for dining, but for buying sweets.
