given the type of food they serve, it's obviously gonna get cold very soon and the delivery from Zomato affects it. that aside the food was good and delivered on time for me atleast. worth it

The best place to order South Indian breakfast items! Their coconut chutney is so yum ! Also they give kickass Badam milk and mango lassi !!
I started ordering from Cafe Idly about a month ago (home delivery, so my rating is purely for food, not ambiance). I just love the combos, not to mention the prices, they are super affordable. And their filter coffee is to die for. Just a couple of days ago, I ordered just coffee, 8 cups of it, and between my wife and I, we downed them coffees. Big fan of the appam chicken curry/egg curry combo. The only feedback I have for them is their food is turning too spicy of late, and I'm not a fan of spicy food. Perhaps if Cafe Idly can offer customization on spice levels, that could be awesome. But otherwise, if spice doesn't bother you, definitely give them a try. You won't be disappointed with the food. And the filter coffee is a must. Don't go there and not order it.
Its a very small joint near the frazer town police station and one wouldn't notice it. Said that, we ordered the big combo which included masala dosa, 2 pieces of Idly, 1 big cutlet, 1 coffee. It was priced at 170rs. The food is amazing here! The rock music in the background goes very well. The coffee was a bit strong for my taste.Though we have ordered from here a couple of times, i have tried there appam with paneer curry, didn't like the curry though , appams were good. But said that, I will be going here again given they are affordable and they serve tasty food. ☺
Very nice masala dosa and idli. Idly was nice and soft. Gun powder and red chutney were yummy! The wallet factor was really good. All the best!

Absolutely delightful south Indian food.
simple in preparation, great in taste.
Over all this is one place I love and very pocket friendly.

Food is avg. Ambience is good, music lovers should like this place more with some old Elvis audio cassette, vinyl etc. Will be trying kadubu next time.
Idlis here are to die for, especially thatte idli. It's amazing. I have been a regular to this place for a long time and the experience has been consistent
Just be here for the coffee! It was perfect on a regular rainy day in Bangalore. Great ambience and kick-ass idlys. Would love to be here again for the coffee. :D
The coffee was excellent. The idlis and chutneys were good too and are perfect for a good snack or light meal. But I would go back just for the coffee. However, the cafe itself seemed a little unloved and dusty. This is the kind of restaurant that would have done really well in a different location. Where it is now, it doesn't get much action and is in danger of running out of steam.
Good food ! Went to this place for breakfast. Menu is limited but food is tasty (P.S. They don't serve sambar only chutneys). Ambience is mediocre but food makes up for it.
The owners seem quite passionate. Lower budget operation, great materialization of an idea- idlis can be the central food of any meal!
Amazing white chutney, and my favorite is their idli podi(the light brown one).
Both normal and thatte idlis are soft and almost juicy, yum!
Recently tried their dosas - good job guys, thought you might not get it right :)

I think oils other than coconut are generally preferred with idli podi. But that could be just me.

The concept is brilliant and there is a lot of scope for improvement. A lot. A better maintained place to start with, a lot more variations of the humble idli (think masala idli, manchurian, idli 65, and how could they miss idli sambar?)
No complaints about the music though. They play like hard rock, although on a terrible system.
Still, a decent place to stumble upon while in the area.

How it is managed by these 2 boys behind the counter. How there are 2 quaint little tables and a few chairs and how quickly they serve food from that behind the counter room.
How friendly they are - they always have a smile for you to go with the food!
Finally, and this is not really related to food, but how they are often found busily immersed in a book as you climb up the stairs... and they have to lose the "lost in a good book" face to figure out what you need - which they proceed to do with lightning speed. Like I said, not relevant for food - but major points from me!"

a very small place with an even smaller menu but all the varieties of idlis available were delicious. it has to be tried once if you love idlis. :)
I had regular idly and kanchipuram idly. kanchipuram idly was nice but the regular idly was awesome. The chutney served along was amazing. Just that they din't serve sambhar with it, but the chutney is so good that I bet that you won't miss the sambhar.
The place is very small but for the price at which they serve its quite nice and clean.

We've not been to this outlet in Frazer town but to the small outlet they've newly opened in the Gopalan Signature Mall Food court.
They have a very small outlet here and they mainly serve only Idly as the name suggests (unlike Mr. Idli which serves all kinds of south indian items). Saw an electric guitar and a couple of old framed Rock Vinyl Records on the wall and asked the guy there as to whats the deal with that. He said their theme is Music and Idly and it seems in their Frazer Town outlet they also play Rock Music but since this is a food court they can't do the same. Weird combination...;-)
Anyway, they mainly have Idlis with chutneys(2 types) and gun powder (4 types)...they have regular , kanchipuram and thatte idly. They also have Paddu (also known as paniyaram) and veg cutlets. Finally they have something called Idly burger or double decker idly which is nothing but 2 idlies with the cutlet in between and the 2 chutneys smothered on each of the idlies.
Anyway, we just tried the regular idlies and thatte idlies. We were bowled over completely by the idlies...extremely fluffy, hot and soft !
The chutneys they serve with it are also very fresh and tasty...they basically give a coconut and tomato chutney.
We also tried the Gun Powder...Liked the regular one...they also have curry, chilli garlic and some other flavour also.
Anyway, we are in love with the idly here and have already eaten 2 times from this place in the last week.
My daughter also liked their cutlets !
Overall rating of 4/5 for the food, service and VFM !

Great Ambience, Excellent Customer Service and one of the best Idli's ive ever tasted in Bangalore.
Fantastic Value for money, a few innovative products on the Menu (which are rare to find like Burger Idly, Kancheepuram Idly and Kadubu - Idly steamed in Banana leaves ).
All in all I would recommend this for place for its Unique experience and yummy Food.

This is indeed a great option serving limited Breakfast option.

A quaint little place apt for a quick meal. I like their Idly with chicken curry. Decent portions, good quality and fair price is what you will get here. The packaging for delivery can be improved a little. They also have special meals and menus during certain festival and have plum cake available year round.
Their Dosa however is quite disappointing and needs drastic improvement

Cafe Idly is a mini snack joint specialising in different types of Idlis. The idlis have a special taste,flavour ,size and shape too The chutney and sambar served is unique in taste.
Fraser Road,had ordered veg sweet corn soup,veg hakka noodles and classic veg manchurian,starting from soup to noodles everything was very very tasty,its really worth it,Really cool. Nice place to spend time with your family. Spacious place for hosting private get together.
It's a good place... Even though I prefer a takeaway. The food is good I would say and if you're looking for at retro kind of theme then there's guess have everything from retro cassettes to retro posters...
