Uttara Karnataka Oota aka North Karnataka meals at Kamat Swaad is an authentic North Karnataka meal served for lunch and dinner. The food is served in plantain leaf and contains the following:
1. Jolada Rotti or Jowar Roti & Butter
2. Enngai palya or Brinjal curry
3. Soppina palya & Kaalu palya: curry of green leafy vegetables and horsegram curry
4. Cucumber and Onion Raita
5. Kosambari
6. Papad
7. Jhunka or dunks, a dish made of besan
8. Chutney: a spicy onion garlic chutney
9. Rice
10. Vegetable Sambar: a non spicy sambar which has drumstick and other vegetables

The roti with butter and curries are a deadly combo. Though you can eat upto 10 rotis easily, try to restrict to 3 or 4 rotis. This will allow you to have other dishes as well. Buttermilk is also unlimited, so you can skip water and drink buttermilk only.

Once you finish the entire meal, you will definitely need time to get up from your seats.
Had lunch with family. At 1.45 pm sunday there was waiting. When we left also we saw people waiting. It was worth the wait. Had decent North Karnataka banana leaf thali. Usual jola roti brinjal jinka mango gujju sprouted curry etc. All tasted authentic. Opted for special meals rs 250 incl tax because we wanted bajji and holige. Also fs icecream and beeda comes with it.one senior person was supervising so service was good. AC not effective because front door kept open for people waiting. Will visit again.

Very good jolad rotti oota with authentic palyas of North karnataka. Full thali is must have here, and worth the price, with full of variaties on ur plantain leaf..
I have been a regular visitor for this place. A pure veg restraunt with authentic with Indian food ( as per couple of Telugu and Kannada friends).
Must try-
1. Jowar Bakhri meals! Served on banana leaf with prompt service and lots of love! You would absolutely love the entire meal which comprises of Jowar roti, multiple veggies, bajji, rice, sambhar, rasam, curd rice, sweet, butter milk and couple of seasonal items too.
2. Quick breakfast- good old idli, dosa and filter coffee. It's not extraordinary but it's good enough.
You haven’t tried it all of u have not yet tried North Karnataka meals. Jowar roti with badnekai (baingan) and Junka is an amazing package. Thin hot soft jowar roti with melting butter on it is too good a combo. Though this place does not serve the best North Karnataka meals, but having it after a long time, I truly relished it!

Satisfying Vegeterain Meal and it's not an Andhra !! I'd visited this place long ago with family and wanted to check how they are doing now with friends. I see more items are added while the taste and quality has improved. That's right, You can't sustain without them. Jowar roti with Brinjal Curry, two other gravies, 3 veg salads with chutney and papad, spicy burfi and the list goes on. We went for a Special Meal where you get a Sweet, Bhaji, Butter Milk and Fruit Salad with Ice Cream extra. All inclusive 230/-
Can get crowded in the afternoon and they don't have many staff to handle the customers. This was the only drawback else I would have given it a 5/5.

I have come to hear the kamat group of restaurants is quite famous. I had the jowar roti meal which was very good. There were 3 types of curries top accompany the rotis. The buttermilk here was awesome. Surprisingly the meal was served in banana leaves. The other things which followed were the rasam / sambar and rice which was tasty. It's a pretty good restaurant and would recommend people liking north karnataka food to visit this place.

Located in Jp Nagar, Kamat has been the best in jowar roti meals since ages and they have many outlets too. They serve salad, papad, buttermilk, three types of gravies, jowar roti and butter, rice, ice cream and a fruit. It's pocket friendly too and the service is super fast!
Food was very good and met expectations.
Nice place to have rava dosa and the masala dosa has some sort of powder in it which is tasty , sambar tastes nice , try meals at noon times
Love the place for its Jowar Roti Meals - the spread is huge and the food is awesome especially if you love hot freshly made roti being served at a constant rate!
The staff too are super courteous and the service is prompt as long as the restaurant doesn't get too crowded - so definitely avoid Sunday lunches after 1 PM :)

Writing this review strictly for the Jowar Roti Meal section of this hotel. The jowar roti meal will blow you away if you love jowar roti eaten typically in Maharashtra and North Karnataka. The rotis are hot and soft and prepared live, topped with some buttery goodness. The brinjal is nicely cooked soft and flavored to perfection. The sides and salads are fresh and tasty. The majjige or butter milk is an absolute delight. My favorite is the "jhunka" which are cubes made of flour and Peanuts and sesame seeds. The jhunka is soft crunchy and yummy. The sambar with drumsticks is prepared well and tastes well with some ghee. The food is served on banana leaves. The place is hygienic. There is no cap on rotis and all items are unlimited except sweet. In special thali you get holige (on weekends only, other days some random sweet.) and Mirchi bhajji and ice cream. They all taste good. They serve Paan at the end which is minimal and mediocre. Service wise, I have been here numerous times and the service is good on weekdays and can improve on weekends.
Must try if you love jowar roti meal. The best jowar roti meal I ever had in any hotel yet.

Also, the meal is pocket friendly. The waiter ensure a homely atmosphere. For instance, one of the waiters requested me to have an extra serving of rice once. But... Don't expect a super ambience here. It's only for those who worship amazing and authentic food and nothing else. Now, what makes this a better Kamat resturant? This one's an AC restaurant, much cleaner than its siblings, lesser wait time and awesome staff.
Kamat is known for its jolada rotti oota. Like any Kamat hotel, the options here are limited. Though there are many items on the menu, people just take normal meals or special meals. In both the meals, the jolada rotti, rice and gravies are unlimited. Special meals has bajji and ice cream extra.
We ordered the special meals. The service was good and the food was perfect. There is not much to speak about the ambience, it's just a simple setting. An apt place if you are craving for good north Karnataka food.
Great place to eat if you like North Karnataka (Uttara Kannada) Food, went with my family spice level was moderate and my daughter wanted to come again next day! I also have to mention each of their staff were serving with a smile will surely recommend !
If you want to have traditional north karnataka food then this is the best place around jayanagar/ JP nagar..Roti's were soft and were served along with butter.. Everything was unlimited...Service was also pretty good...

Must try for those who like authentic Karnataka food. I had the special meals and it was quite heavy for the light eater in me. Loved the Akki roti and the sides came along with it. A king size meal for the hungry ones.

They have thin and soft jowar rotis that taste and smell amazing. The jhunkas are well cooked and tasty with the spices. They served everything hot and the variety given made it fun to mix and eat.
My Soul food, must say when I get confused on what to eat, I head out to Kamat Swaad for Jolar roti meals. Tasty, homely and soulful delight. The meals, the service and the satisfaction is truly remarkable. Been a fan for more than a decade for sure. Regret they don't have any place near IndiraNagar....
Hygienic, yummy North Karnataka food served here. Service is quick and great. That extra dollop of butter with each rotti along with all the curries tastes heavenly. The place was not crowded whenever I have visited. I wonder why! They could probably play some music as this place gets really silent when not crowded. A perfect family place. The much needed pan served at the end of a heavy meal just melts in your mouth.
Rajdhani kinda restaurant for north Karnataka food. All items in meals were good, a special mention for Jolada roti, brinjal curry, green gram curry and junka.
After a while the Roti's were brought out slowly, buthaving a look at how they were preparing it I wasn't gonna complain.

Lack of proper seating area in the ground floor self service and snacks section. Otherwise the food quality is quite good. Having a few more tables and clean seating area on ground floor might help. Upstairs has proper seating area and serves a different cuisine on each floor apparently. It will help if Zomato includes the separate menu for the restaurants on each of the different floors.
The karavalli or malnad meals was really good.

Very reasonable rate and unlimited, they always serve hot jowar roti with butter and the sides are very good.
Best for the people who are working out and on diet and wishing have a tasty healthy food.
Weekends are usually crowded during lunch time.
Suggestion: When there is crowd write down the names and no. of seats as they do in other restaurants.
Here ppl will be standing and annoying staff as we came 1st, still how long. So lot of hassles.

The quintessential North Karnataka meal with jowar rotis at Kamat is always delicious. We enjoyed everything about the special meals except the Bengali sweet and fruit salad with ice cream. Why can't they serve an authentic sweet that goes with the meal! The rotis aren't too big so they don't get cold or hard while you eat your way through unlike those jumbo sized ones.
This hotel is really good for its authentic North Karnataka meals. But apart from the jowar roti meals when I took the north Indian sabji and tandoori roti this was a big let down. So all in all a really good restaurant for having rotti oota!
One of the best places to have Jowar Roti meals. Rotis are served hot n are fluffy. Ambiance is ok. Not many people visit as is calmer compared to its bull temple road branch.
I did feel the sides were a bit too garlic-iky or chilly-ish. I would love to see the normal Tili saaru (red one) than the current pepper rasam (yellow) and of course some smiles back on the staffs face.
Aah! The jowar bhakri meal is a visual as well as gastronomic treat. Though I had the food in a Kamat outlet on the Pune highway, mentioning here because Zomato doesn't mention that location.
Back to Jowar Bhakri Meal. You have to taste it to believe it. Amazing curries that accompany the jowar bhakri. A complete meal.
Curd rice disappointed. Normal rice mixed with regular curd, garnished with vegetables. Don't try.
Kamat's popular jolad rotti oota continues to deliver tasty, wholesome and authentic meals at the Kamat Swaad outlet.
It is a large restaurant and can seat big groups comfortably.
All the accompaniments were hot and delicious but the speed of rotti making wasn't upto the mark even in the non peak hours...
All in all a very satisfying meal!

Visited Kamat swaad just to have their jolad rotti oota! We didn't have the appetite for the special meals soo we just went ahead with the normal meals. Located near jayangar 9th block behind raagi guda! The resturant has 4floors with lots of space. The jolad rotti oota is usually served on the 4th floor. Normal seating, ntn out of the extraordinary. When we got in there were some tables filled but after just 5mins the place was packed and the waiting list already started..Surprise Surprise..Now coming to the food...The service was quite fast..as soon as we got seated they started bringing in the plantain leafs. They started off by placing butter milk,papad,methi and baby onions followed by raitha,avarekai curry and green leaves curry. The curries were piping hot and tasted really good. Since it's the time of mangoes they also served the mango curry! It was bit too sweet for my liking but I could see others loving it. The jolad rotti is served along side yennegai.. And I was delighted with the speed at wic they bring in the jolad rotti.. Not to forget the butter on top which makes it even more soft and yummy. The jolad rotti and the yennegai was actually quite yummy. Once your done with the jolad rotti..you can ask them to get the rice.. Which is served along with rasam ,sambar and curd! JP nagar is a nice location to start.

So this time I went to Kamath Swaad near Jayanagar 9th block. The place has nice seating area and capacity and was quite clean. Service was little slow considering only 1/3 capacity was occupied. The food was good but the hero of the meal, the Eggplant curry somewhat had a bitter after taste.
Lastly, the restroom was not clean and was stinking badly. I always judge any hotel's hygiene with their toilets, if it's not clean meaning they are not clean. Overall not at all a bad place to come and have one of the most amazing South Indian meal.

Have been very regular to this place off late. No matter how many times I go here, the taste keeps calling me back. The best part is the Jolada Rotti smeared with butter and Henngayi palya. Not to forget to mention the side dishes that comes along., then spicy butter milk, etc..
This is the best that I can suggest for a veggie near JP Nagar. It provides authentic North Karnataka cuisine. Do not miss it.
finally had karavali food in bangalore.. and it was too good, menu had akki rotti, butter milk, bele payasa, shavige kayi halu, halasini midi n kadale palya, bele and beans palya, tomato gojju, tove, huli and saru, it was yummy, patrode and podi of bera halasu.. i am sure me n my parents will surely viist this place again, karavali meals are available on 2nd floor and only as lunch all days... do viist once if u are missing home food :)

We visted today for lunch, had jowar bakri meal special. What they served we had whole, Every thing is so tasty, and gave original feel of north karnataka. Only mirchi bajji is not good. Worth for paying and worth for visit.
Been here most of the times for breakfast. I ordered idli vada. Idlies are steaming hot and the vadas are crispy and nice. Overall a nice place for quick breakfast. They also have a service hall in the 2nd Floor. I Have tried their Jolada roti uta. The jolada roti meal takes your taste buds on a north karnataka tour. The rotis were hot and soft, the brinjay gravy was yum....!!!

Lovely place. There are multi floors we went to the fourth(i think) for the jolada rotti oota. Worth the price. We ordered regular , all of us loved it. Especially the jolada rotti part and the side dishes. The holige also was very nice. We have to wait a little for the people to come and serve as all the tables were full, but otherwise nice hotel.
The food was not heavy with oil or fatty items , kept us full but not heavy.
The ambience nothing fancy, but well ventilated and spacious Not looking for anything else for a quick family meal enjoyable.

Been for North Karnataka meals. It's authentic n very nice. The jowar roti is served hot . There sides are good n are just the way it has to be. Usually north Karnataka food is very spicy. But here they have it little. Spicy so everyone can enjoy the food. I haven't tried karavali food. For North Karnataka food you must visit.

On Lazy Sunday morning we wanted to try authenticate south Indian breakfast. We had tried MTR and Maiyas so looking for something else.
A friend’s recommendation for Kamat Swaad and we are all set to try it @ 8 AM.
(Yes, only Classic breakfast at great restaurant can wake up that early on Sunday )
Location – if you are driving from Jayadeva then after E Stand take a right turn. After driving for I think, 1 km you will see Kamat on your right side.
Ambiance : It have very good setting arrangement on 2nd floor and exclusive food and culture painting to showcase legacy was impressive.
Service – There were only 2 or 3 family taking breakfast at early morning on Dinning area so it was not crowded. Our ordered was places and next few minutes food was on our table.
Food – We ordered kotte idli , rava dosa , deep idli , Khara Bhath , Ragi dosa and filter coffee.
Kotte idli and Deep Idli was warm , soft and accompanied with sambhar and coconut chutney was simply awesome.
Rava Dosa , Ragi Dosa shows perfection of restaurant by following authenticate recipe with perfect ingredients.
On very high node, We ended our breakfast with classic South Indian Filter Coffee.
I highly recommend this restaurant for South Indian dishes.

They serve some really good Jowar rotis and curry. Although I went on a weekday night, it was pretty crowded. I had been to the 4th Floor for an unlimited regular meal.
We get a top view of the main road that connects to St. Pauls school and it was pretty nice in the night. Sumptuous food for sure. Had a proper and complete north Karnataka food after a long time. Loved the sides and curries. They give unlimited Jowar rotis, 5 different kind curries, Butter milk, Paapad and Mirch fry, Rice with Rasam, Sambhar and curd.
To sum up, I was satisfied completely. Worth Rs. 160/- per meal.

2 type of meals normal and special. Special means you will get regular jowar meals, obbatu, Mirchi bajji, ice cream and fruit salad 🥗 🥗 🥗🥗🥗.
Starts with some soppu and pappad, then mix veg raita and some curry, then jowar roti with brinjal curry ☺️. Mouth watery gravy 😋😋😋.
Parking is major concern here, you need to park either in main road or small Street behind this hotel.

Great food and great service. If you want to taste the authentic North Karnataka cuisine then this is definitely the place. The quality and the quantity of the food is really very good and so is the service. Variety of vegetable curries along with salads served on plantain leaf which lets you experience the authentic village quintessence. Even the ambiance is amazing. Overall visiting and experiencing this place is worth every penny you spend.

Fantastic authentic North Karnataka food. The cuisine goes very well with dinner or lunch. We had arranged a birthday event for our kid and the arrangements were good. The event management reference they referred had a very good decoration team. The MC could have been slightly better for the kids events. Overall happy with the service.
This is a very nice place for those who are looking for some authentic Karnataka food. Food tastes very good. During weekends and special occasions there will be some waiting. Earlier there used to be a fast food in ground floor and table service into he first floor. Recently they were making some renovation work to the fast food section. This place also have a banquet hall on upstairs. Prices are reasonable. Good space available for two wheeler parking (open). Four wheeler to be parked in the adjacent streets.
