RawStraw â The child of a lovely couple (Sagar and Mahita), dedicated to serve HEALTHY FOOD with a twist.
I had seen this place shape up, infact a board that said âHealthy foodâ on its way. It always made me assume a restaurant that served home-made type of food with less spicy, less oily, or a organic-food store was coming up in this place. But, to my surprise it was a cafe that served healthy food!
One fine day, a  few days back, I saw the place being open and with all the excitement I walked in to explore it.Â
Very next day I walked in again to be greeted by the lady of the cafĂ©, who welcomed me with a warm smile. The conversation began, âAre you guys Open?â âYes, we are open to public from todayâ. I checked on their business hours and said I will be back soon. Visited the place the same day. Also Yesterday.
To me RawStawâs decore felt like being in a gardenerâs drawing room: I say this because they have lined up a huge pots of indoor plants and also a few collection of succulents in small pots inside, and a lot of plants welcome you at the entrance. Also, a small collections of books, Chess board, Set of Uno cards to occupy yourself as you wait for healthy food to be served. I loved the lighting and also small area that could be used for workshops if anyone would like to use that place for some knowledge sharing or any learning. Loved that part the best in here. Furniture is simple yet comfortable for the purpose. A small wall with a graffiti, with few inspiring quotes in them. Loved the warmth the place to offer. Loved the soft and soothing music that was played there.
Very first day of my visit, on Mahitaâs suggestion I chose to eat Potato and Egg salad, Chefâs reco, GLUTEN FREE and Local love. The salad was served in a cute porcelain dish with grilled baby alloos, sliced boiled eggs and a Salad of rocket leaves, Olives and lettuce and a olive oil dressing with mild spices. Then I get to know the potatoes go in though a cycle of marination with mild spices, and are grilled with the outer skin so that we do not lose itâs nutrition elements. It was Yummy and quite a filler too. I specially loved the combo of Egg-Potato and the tangy taste of rocket leaves, which was infact a new taste for me.
Then as it was their second day of operation I was given a NiceCream as a compliment. âA nice gestureâ, this was a Banana-Mango Nice Cream, a in-house preparation without any artificial flavor, preservatives or additives, and sugarless. Wolla, a guilt-free indulgence. Banana Mango and Basil creamed-up together and frozen to make you feel nice in its every bite. Loved it too.
On my second visit, upon Sagarâs recommendation I chose to have a Pesto Millet with tomatoes and Fresh mozzarella Salad â the salad was made using foxtail millet and in-house pesto sauce along with grilled-zucchini, cherry tomatoes and fresh mozzarella cheese. Another gluten free salad in their menu. It was a bit bland at the first go, but later on loved the mild flavors of pesto sauce and cheese and small pieces of rocket leaves, it was all put together perfectly.
The choices of juices they have to offer are a bit different too, antioxidant, Miracle drink. I somehow got driven to the name Golden Glow Elixir Juice, seriously reading it sounded like a name of a beauty potion from some fantasy cartoon series! You drink it, you get that âgolden glowâ sorts. Itâs a juice made of Apple, Orange, Ginger and Fresh Turmeric. Was expecting it to taste like Grannyâs Kashaaya. But NO! It was blended to perfection. Little turmeric surprise, a little gingery hint to the juice. To make a note here, all their juices and smoothies are made without water, no artificial or bottled flavors. I specially loved the uniqueness of this juice.
On my first visit to this place, I had known they make Jowar Pancakes and the batter is made freshly, and needs a bit of time to be prepared. As it was not available then, the curious me said why not try that today. Ordered that too, a Sugarless, fluffy, hot pancakes came-in at. Did not feel it was made of jowar at all. It was topped with peach and Plums and a cute little bottle of honey. To have it with. Yummy, Healthy, Unique breakfast choice.
Hats off to Sagar and Mahita (Beautiful couple behind the concept of RawStraw) for the unique concept and the freshness of the dĂ©cor that comes in with a warmth in your service. A quote in the graffiti of your cafĂ© says: âYou have to be odd to be number1 â Dr Seussâ, in my opinion I felt âYou have to be Unique, determined and dedicated to be specialâ.
As the quote goes, âDo not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and lead the trial â Ralph Waldo Emersonâ. This is a path you both have chosen together leaving behind your IT and Psychologist jobs, for the passion to serve healthy food. Hope you lead healthy foodie trail.
All the best.Â
