Neer dosa with the prawn ghee roast is a must try combination here. The mushroom soup was also a pleasant surprise.
Cleanliness to be improved.
Good for happy tummy meal. Prawns ghee roast was lit!
What a lovely restaurant, good food and service and atmosphere, definitely hope to go back. Neer Dosa and prawn ghee roast is love here 💯
It was packed nicely and it was yummy ,very tasty, i and my family loved it.Very neatly and in a hygienic way it is packed. I must recommend people to order and try it.
Try out this amazing place in JP Nagar for authentic seafood and konkani style food!
One of the best neer dosa and silver fish curry. Courteous staff. Amazing food.
Chicken thali
It's worth every penny paid,Konkani style preparation of Mangalorean cuisine.
Mackerel fish curry must try
Best ghee roast in town hands down

For fans of coastal Karnataka and Managlore cuisine, here a place that can satisfy your cravings. Things to try would be surely Chicken Ghee roast, Pepper fry prawns and the Fish curry. Although the price was a bit high in comparison, but the food was well prepared. Services can certainly improve.
A nice place for fish lovers who prepare their fish in Goan or Manglore style. My favorite here is Prawns Rava Fry and Clams Sukha. Also their chicken Biryani is delicious, well cooked and not dry. We recently also tried their Butter chicken which was one of the nicese butter chicken I had for a long time now.
When it comes to other factors, their service is worth appreciating and the prices are quite reasonable with a quality that would not disappoint. They have kept their ambience simple but decent.
Definitely a must visit place.
This is my favorite seafood place! Their squid ghee roast and prawns ghee roast are heavenly. They just melt in your mouth. Although I feel they've been reducing their quantity for the same price over time.
Visited this place on a Sunday evening. Lovely ambience and great food. If you are craving for some authentic coastal food, then do head out to this place. Must try the paneer ghee roast with neer dosa.

A decent place, with nice goan Vibe with that coastal feel. Love the food over there. Overall liked the place, if you are really looking for some coastal flavour in the city then you are at the right place. You side really go and try that place once at least.
Ambience-4/5

Those who are fans of Konkan/Mangalore style food will love it here. Authentic dishes, quick service, and the ambiance too will remind you of the coast that you will be missing when you are in Bangalore. The experience could be better if the downstairs of the building is cleaned up(though not the fault of the restaurant itself).
This place had been on my list for quiet sometime now and recently got a chance to visit this place.Wasn't disappointed I must say.
We ordered chicken wings fry which were crispy and was fried with chillies,Curry leaves and garlic. The taste was very unique and different from the usual fried Chicken which we eat in other places.
Next we ordered the famous Neer dosa and ghee roast chicken which was served hot and in good quantity.
The dosa was soft, hot and fresh. The chicken was spicy yet subtle in taste

A must try out place for all sea food lovers!
Used to be an occasional lunch place when my workplace was nearby 3 years ago. Always loved the fish thali, neer dosa and fish curry or just the fish fry.The ragi manni was my favourite dessert too. The staff were nice and ambience is interesting. Go here if you want to enjoy a nice coastal or Mangalore an meal. Value for money
Here it comes the food of a fisherman . I love the place and the price both are in a way to fit your pocket. The food is yummy especially the Tawa fry fish . Love to visit the place any time if looking for a fish treat.
Homemade, authentic and high quality seafood served here! I ordered in rava fried prawns, green chutney prawns, neer dosas, chicken ghee roast, dal taka and stuffed tandoori mushrooms - everything tasted so good! Even though it was a delivery, the rava fried prawns was still crispy. The north Indian dishes was also authentic and huge on flavour. Highly recommend Coastal Mama for all seafood lovers and folks who are looking for some good, comforting, home-like flavours!

One of the only places to serve Mangalore food in JP NAGAR. Lightly lit ambient diner. Almost a rooftop place.
SURESH our server was one of the best and pleasent person, I last remember that I encountered in restaurant industry.
Best thing was that he was very SUGGESTIVE and TRUTHFUL.
He told us that some dishes will take time to prepare and also suggested the orders, so that we do not waste the food.
His suggestion for the RAGI SWEET was very doubtful for us as we never have tasted ragi sweet in our life but the way he assured, we thought to give a try and to tell you truth it was really a new experience to my taste buds as it was not that sweet that I was expecting and nor sloggy.
Most of the dishes we ordered was really good and unique to taste.
Ghee roast is just superb. Butter garlic crab was finger licking good but the portion of it was too small for 2 person.
Mackerel is really a no no... There preparation was very nice but this fish was not at all tasty. But you should try other fishes it's nicely prepared.

Overall a nice experience and also our server SURESH made things easier and memorable for us.
Kudos to him.
My love for coastal food never ends! 😘
Had been here once but have ordered online several times..❤️
To start with, we ordered kokum juice, kokum kadi and chicken soup..soup was so creamy😍
From the main course, we tried chicken sukka, neer dosa and butter garlic prawns..🤗
Chicken sukka had that roasted coconut flavour just the way it should be😋
Neer dosa was so soft and butter garlic prawns were so yummy👌
Best place to visit if you love mangalorean cuisine!!
This is a good place for coastal food. Reasonable. I loved the chicken ghee roast. The sannas wasn't good..they tasted like idlis..I can say this, because I know the difference between the two, being from the coastal side. The ambience is fine. Don't ask for the finger bowl as the wash basin is very unique..one must go and see ..
Totally love this place.the entrance to the place looks weird but once we reach the place it is nice.. the ambience is too good. The silver fish rava fry, surmai fry, ghee roast with neer dosa, fish gassi everything is super yum.. the quantity is also really good. And u must have their gadbad.. its awesome.. reminds me of Mangalore! Highly recommended..
Chicken ghee roast with neer dosa. The best you find in Bangalore!
Alongwith flavourful buttermilk.
They work amazing for me for food delivery when me need comfort food .. n have not disappointed me a single out of the 1000 times i have ordered food from them.
Authentic mangalorean cuisine and very good seafood. This place is on a terrace and the ambience is simple, not great. But the seafood they serve is very good, typical mangalorean style. Not too pricy as well. We ate prawns fry, bangude tawa fry and Anjal tawa fry, really yummy. Waiters are friendly and explain well. A GoTo place if you want to relish seafood and mangalorean cuisine.
Initially I didn't want to visit the place on account of how it looked from the outside. It looked very shady and the board isn't very attractive. As I made my way onto the second floor I realised that the ambience wasn't so bad. The food tastes great but the parking is very slow and irritating.
#costalfood #seafood #mangloreancuisine . The ambiance was beautiful. Although they took around 45min to get the food ordered, it was just mouthwatering when you look at it . We ordered fish kabab , which had 6 pieces , freshly marinated and fried very less crispy but extremely soft and delicious. The next was silver fish , they give you around 150gm of fish (10-14 fishes) cooked in manglorean style and very enjoyable. It’s the best combination with beer but no alcohol is served here. The ambiance looks like Goan shacks and simple . If you love costal food then this is the place to go in south Bangalore.

Perfect place to visit for some really good Mangalorean food!! Ghee roast, appam, neer Dosa, anjal in green chutney fry are a must try. We also tried chicken green korma which was again great! However the parking is a problem over there and also make sure you reserve your table on weekends!
I really liked this place, wonder why it has taken me so long to discover it. Kori Roti was spot on, and very close to how Mom makes it. Fish was fresh, masalas tasty and staff are friendly. Wish I had taken pics but was too busy eating. Big thumbs up to an honest effort!
Kane naked fry, chicken gassi with Kori roti and prawn hingaudda ( hing based curry ) - all authentic coastal food. Very well done. The decor is beautiful and the food is worth the effort that we need to put in parking. The chicken ghee roast is good but I have tasted better ghee roast in other places in Bangalore - and that is where I reduced 1 star. I would strongly recommend the fresh lime soda , sweet n salt mix ...a wonderful drink to wash down the food.
COASTAL MAMA in Bangalore is a wonderful restaurant serving excellent veg and non-veg dishes including authentic Mangalorean fare. Their Seafood is fresh and simply delicious. The ambience reminds you of a cosy Goan shack.. just superb! Visited with my husband and tried out a few of their dishes; each one was delicious. The mini- gadbad was a fine ending to our meal. Must visit again soon.
The place can look a bit shabby, I guess they want to give you a shack like feeling...But u won't feel bad about it...Whenever we go there we eat ghee roast prawns + neer dosa. The roast items do have lot of masala added...But the neer dosa always tastes good....Once I tried tandoori prawns and it was good too.
Mangalore cusine, neer dosa any of their ghee roasts stands out. Squid rawa fry is nice. Please do try out for a change. Pocket friendly as well.

Initially I was hesitant to enter the place as it looks pretty shady from the road, the board doesn't do much to help. But with constant nudging by a friend, I reluctantly made my way to the second floor. I must say the ambience wasn't as bad as I imagined. In fact it would be pretty amazing at night. The washbasin was creatively done.
I had my lunch here. I accompanied a vegetarian friend so we ordered paneer ghee roast and neer dosa. And to my delight the food was served quite fast and tasted delicious! We ordered lime juice to wash down our palates. The ghee rice was next, light and flavourful. Overall this place took me by surprise. I'd definitely visit here again to try more dishes. Do not judge a book by its cover is all I can conclude with..😊
This is one of the best place to eat coastal food/mangalorian food. Ambience is mediocre with simple benched seating arrangement, candles and light music. Food is awesome! Must try chicken ghee roast with neer dosa , it's yummm. I tried anjal rava fried fish, prawn curry with rice and none of them disappointed me. Must try faluda to complete the amazing food savour saga.
Service is very quick and staff is very friendly.
Ambience - 🌟🌟🌟
Food - 😍😍😍😍😍
Service - 👍👍👍👍👍
Value for money - 💰💰💰💰
Talk about Konkan cuisine - Coastal Mama stands out in Mangalorean dishes. Especially ghee roast - very delicious. The ambience in the evening is beautiful. Appropriate for a medium budget candle light dinner. Crew is friendly and we can ask the chef to customise the dish as well. I would recommend everyone to try ghee roast for sure. Cheers!!
Food here is exceptionally good for the price. The attendents are alert and friendly. The ambience is perfect. Only concern is that they take a good 40 minutes to bring on the food after an order is placed.
One of the must try places, if you wanna have the perfect manglorean cuisuine!!!
Ambience: I loved the over all look of the place, calm and pleasant, until people started visting the place😅😅. Still a compact place, I must say.Best time to visit : I guess for dinner, as the place is lighted up🌼🌼🌼
Food: The taste was good, every platter was amazing and different. But the quantity of the starters were less, So if you guys visit in large numbers make sure you order more than 2 or 3 plates.
Our order(family) was mainly the following Chicken Achari tikka, Chicken kalimirchi tikka,Prawns gee roast, Silver fish rava fry, Bangda tava and rava fry, Chicken pulimunchi gravy,Prawns biryani, boiled rice.
All these items were up to the mark.
Service: is a bit slow, so you guys(management) have to pull up on it. The staff members are polite.
Price: I would say its slightly high, but as you are having good quality of food, you can give it a pass😊
Food taste fabulous... Had been twice with family... Ambiance awesome.. Rest room maintained hygenically... Service is wonderful... Crab sukka is spectacular... Highly recommend
Coastal mama goes by its name! Food here rates like home made food. The menu is filled with coastal delicacies. They have delicious fishes. And ghee roast is yummy!! Service and ambiance is good. Mangalorians it's a must visit place!
The food is very good ,value for money. The service was quick and the staff were really humble and helpful . Coastal cusine at its best.Even the ambience is pretty good.
Amazing place for coastal food lovers. I had the best panner ghee roast and mushroom sukka. Kori rotti gravy was tasty as well. Baby corn rava is new thing to try on menu.
Good place to visit
Very creative place
Mangalorean style food
Enjoyed the food
Little pricy for the given quantity
Chicken items are well cooked and good
Have been here quit a few times
Fish thali is also good
You will have to wait a long once you place order as they prepare it freshly
Overall liked the place
fast deliver and good taste
For non veggies, try appam and prawns ghee roast. If you are not a fish lover, try anything ghee roast. You wont be disappointed. However, thali is also an option
Having heard about their lip-smacking seafood, we decided to give it a shot and we weren't disappointed, The prawn ghee roast was the best I have had, along with other Mangalorean delicacies like chicken gassi, neer dosa and kokum juice made it a memorable meal. I did try the ragi Mani but didn't like it, but then I have never liked it for its texture at any restaurant, still eat it thinking someday I will convert. This is now going to be my restaurant of reference if anyone is in this part of town looking for delicious Mangalorean food.
If you want to experience some best dishes from south India (apart from dhosa, idly, sambar and all) must visit here...jus love with it’s mutton gheeroast and neer dhosa...also try fish biriyani there... and there are so many dishes which are equally tasty...
Wanted to taste food from Coastal Mama from long time!
Indeed as expected the food was really really awesome!
Loved the veg biryani. Amazing and mouth watering flavours!
The place is simple and gives you a feeling of coastal region with a the decoration of small boat kept on the side and other ambience. If you stay near JP nagar and love coastal food, do try out this place. Neer dosa, mutton ghee roast are my favourites. Do try out the prawns curry n rice too.
Delicious neer dosa and prawn ghee roast. Kokum kadi also really good. Nice ambiance and very sweet host. Will be back for red rice and coconut curry !
I loooove this place! One of the best in Bangalore. The crab is sooo soft that it almost melts away before you even bring it close to your mouth. Plethora of varieties for each kind of sea food. Chicken ghee roast is a must too. Can't go wrong with some of that and appam or neer dosa on the side. You might want to first begin with a chicken soup, move to the above mentioned main course and wash it all down with some nice and cool lime soda. Oh and did I mention that the ambience is just the right kind of place to relax and enjoy some good food? None of that annoying club/electronic music. Slow tunes, candle lights and a rooftop experience at a very reasonable price. I'm surprised you're still reading this without already having made up your mind to go there next weekend! ;-) partner in dine - SAMATA UKIL
Authentic mangalore gsb konkani style restaurant, prawns Rawa fry and the crabs masala fry are must try. Ghee roast is not that great but authentic Fish Gravy’s are ok. Very much pocket friendly with decent ambience and service.
Visited this place enjoyed here crab masala fry need dosa , roof top decorated, with live screening, service is nice food is great,
Wanted to try once lunch time meal
Great place can be visit here for coastal food ,
Regular comfort food always. We do endless neer dosas with either fresh recommend fish or chicken gravy. Classic coconut milk based curry flavor for both their batata curry and chicken/fish curry

Sea food and non veg very good except veg. For veggies less option n taste is not so great. Veggies please don't have too much expectations .
Visited this place today with my family. The seafood is fresh and of high quality. Price is very reasonable. Staff is very friendly and a pleasure to deal with.
Ambience is open-air on the 2nd floor (with roof)., with a beach like theme - there are models of fishing nets, boat etc. on display.
The only negative is probably that the seating and furniture are not as swanky as a fine dine restaurant would be. That said, the simple but comfortable furniture does blend in well with the overall beach like theme. Reminds one of the shacks in Goa. :)
A weekday lunch with the team and this place came highly recommended for it's coastal cuisine.
When we came in the place was empty.
We quickly ordered the food - Chicken Ghee Roast, Anjal Fry, Neer Dosas amongst a few other dishes and some drinks.
The food takes time to be served but packs a punch. The Anjal Fry was pretty good, the flavors were great. Ghee Roast too was good.
Perhaps one of the better place for mangaloroean food.
Recommend!
The ambiance is great for a casual lunch and dinners. Good for both friends and family meet ups.
Kundapuri mutton is by far the best dish I have had here.
Awesome mangalorean cuisine I would say. You just can’t beat the taste of neer dosa along with kolhapuri chicken curry. Also yummy pomfret masala fry is a must try. A very good place for sea food in and around JP NAGAR.
One of the best Coastal food I have had in years. If you want to have some authentic Indian Coastal food this is the place to be. Great relaxing ambience coupled with great service makes it a place to go with your friends and family. Do experience this place if you want to wind down over the weekends.
Good food, good taste, value for money.
However, staff can be a bit more jovial and welcoming.
Else everythn on the plate is cooked to perfection.
Good choice for sea food lovers!!

We wanted to have some good sea food with family, we got to know about this through zomato and visited this restaurant on 24/12/17. The food was amazing, we tried sea food platter, every item was very tasty. Loved the service and ambience as well. A must visit place for sea food lover's.
Its a Good place to coastal lovers ..Very Good Service.. Awesome ambience...Food was tasty & delicious..i love chicken ghee roast and neer dosa
Authentic Mangalore style cuisine available... Don't miss out the sea food out here... Decent place to dine out for the sea food lovers....service is also good..
Coastal mama is manglorean seafood restaurant and beach themed rooftop restaurant.
Low light dinner Ambience as well.
Ghee roast and neer dosa (must try) items.
So well balanced and juicy ghee roast is so zestful that you will keep ordering neer dosa.
If you are from coastal region definitely this place os for you. Overall its a cozy family restaurant.
Only the service is that so appealing.
ghee roast was bland and without ghee
As Coastal mama was one of the famous place for sea food I was waiting to hit this place and try some coastal cuisine. Finally I could make it on sunday afternoon. This place is situated at JP nagar,it's just above Cream store parlour.
The ambience of this place is decent one but not so great. Service is good. The staff is very friendly. Live match will be streamed here one of the positive point.
Coming to our order, we opted for neer Dosa with Pulimunchi prawn curry. Anjal masal fish fry was also ordered . Curry was spicy and chilly and the taste was good. The taste of fish fry was kind of ok ok.
Next we ordered Ragi manni and gudbud ice cream,Ragi manni was so smooth and it was very good.Gudbud was looking beautiful and the taste of the gudbud icecream was superb.I strongly suggest to try both of these Items if you visit this place.
Service:4/5
Ambience:3/5
Taste of food:3.5/5
Value for money:3.5/5
Best authentic coastal food I tried till date. The best to try are - Crab meat soup, Masala papad, Masala fish fry (pomfret), prawns ghee roast/squid ghee roast, neer dosa/cheese naan, chicken curry/Fish pulimunchi (only seer) with boiled rice and last but not the least, Ragi manni/Gudbad for desert is best to end the meal. Recently I see some new changes for good.A new range of north indian and tandoori food with a pinch of mangalorean taste, do try the Tandoori Mushroom and Tandoori chicken/ prawns.
Good ambiance, especially with friends or family with Kids.
Went there on 31/10/2017 . We all wanted to have quick non-veg bite as time was nearing 2145 hrs and at 2300 hrs the restaurants close in Bangalore..
Zomato came to my help with my location and suggested this restaurant..we reached venue in time around 2200 hrs which is on first floor terrace covered on top and open from sides which gives feel of shack in coastal Goa .. there was boat , there was mermaid , there was special tap in hand wash made out of big conch .. on the whole gave good simple coastal -feel ..
The waiter came running to take orders .. Gave clear opinions and suggested wonderful dishes ..
We ordered mutton Pulimanchi Dry as starter, Crab Gassi in main course . Starter as suggested was hot and spicy . The main course was simply amazing . On the sides we had appam and neer dosa . On veg front we had mixed veg gassi with kokum kadi and kokum juice ..
Veg fare was just okay ..
Good coastal authentic preparation with equally good taste ..
Could not enjoy leisurely dinner as we reached late ..
Having recently moved from Mangalore to Bangalore, I was craving good Mangalorean cuisine. When I visited Coastal Mama with my other friends from Mangalore we were overjoyed by the options available. Ordered Pomfret(Manji) tawa fry, Chicken ghee roast, prawn(Etti) ghee roast, Aapam and Neer dosa. All dishes were super tasty and had an authentic coastal flavor which, until then, I had not experienced in Bangalore. Wonderful ambience, the service was good too.
Would definitely recommend for someone who would like to try good coastal cuisine.
The ambience is really awesome.. food is good.. nice place to hangout with your loved ones.. good to go for candle light dinner.. service is li'll slow.!!
This place is meant for Mangalorean food specially as per the name. A small & peaceful place in roof top with a bit of coastal ambience. Most of the families keep visiting here. I tried chicken ghee roast, prawn starter, pomphret fry, neer dosa(too soft and you wouldn't be able to count how much did you munch on), chicken curry. Everything seemed good. Few of the dishes might give you coconut oil smell lightly (in case you aren't used to it or you just hate having it along with food). Service is good.
Been to Coastal Mama after it was sitting for an extended amount of time as a bookmark! Had high expectations considering the fact the the reviews rave about it.
It is a beach themed restaurant located on the 2nd floor. The stairway leading up to the restaurant is not the most user friendly, I have to warn you. It is quite dim lit, dingy and narrow.
When you enter the restaurant, it has the beachy vibe meets dhaba kind of look. It was dim lit with candlelight service set at each table. We took a family size seating and ordered a couple of things. We had deep fried prawns which were really small, but really tasty! We also ordered some Mackerel fish deep fried which was tasty too but a little low on salt.
Besides this we had Paneer tikka which was absolutely Delish! This went perfectly with a plate of neer dosas! I loved their neer dosas, I am happy I read the reviews and ordered these.
But, I have to say that the whole experience wasn't as good as it could have been. The service was slow because the place is understaffed with just two people handling the service at the dining. They were honest about needing 25 minutes for service, but it was hard to get hold of them for teeny tiny requirements. Besides this, the ambience was not my style. I felt a little icky in the place. Didn't 'feel' clean. I'm not sure how to put it better. It just felt shabby.
But, the food was good. Nothing over the top, wow. Just good. :)
Crab Ghee Roast with neer dosa and Clams Sukka are definitely worth trying, it's one of the best seafood I've found in the city. Chicken Gassi was flavourful and went well with the neer dosa.
You can skip the biryani but do try the rest!
Ambience: 4/5
Service: 5/5
Food 5/5
Superb food. Superb service.. best in mangalorean style. Nice music...........
Best candle light dinner for couple with high quality of food...
Good authentic mangalorean food. The chicken ghee roast is excellent. Fish is pretty decent. Service is decent as well. The walk up is through some narrow stairs, but once you get to the terrace, the ambience is reasonably good as well.
I would want to begin by saying that any sea food lover in bangalore really needs to visit this place for the food.
Coming to the review, I tried the squid ghee roast with neer dosa and the kori roti. Absolutely fantastic. Also tried the Silver fish ravaged fry which were so crisp and nice that I couldn't stop eating them.
A truly great place mangalorean style sea food. Will definitely visit again soon.
It is our favourite dine in place.. Specifically like tomato soup, prawn ghee roast& need dosa very nice combination& friendly staff........
The place is amazing.
The quantity is really really good and it is totally worth the prices.
The chicken thali is really really good. Just that they can take the coconut quantity down by a notch.
The mutton thali is really good as well
The food can be made spicier.
The kokum juice seems like it is artificial.
The service is really polite and prompt.
Overall rating: excellent.
Being a Manglurean there are some days that I crave for authentic mangi food and I am glad I found coastal mama. The food is amazing, though I tasted only pepper squid and chicken ghee roast both which were cooked for perfection and tasted super yum. I am waiting to try every dish on the menu and I am sure it would taste excellent.
Excellent pepper chicken ,crab Masala ,fish fry. Must visit place for coastal delight. Good ambience n candlelite dinner. Friendly staff n quick service.
Loved their chicken ghee roast and neer dosa. Fish fry masala was also good. Tried few other things as well. But did not like them, so I don't remember the names.
A great place to eat coastal food. Prawn ghee roast, clams sukkha, crab pepper masala, seafood soup are a must try. Mutton biryani and Tandoor Items are great too.I love the ragi manni and gudbud ( close to what we get in Pabba's in Mangalore). The best thing about Coastal Mama is that the seafood is really fresh and we can see that quality ingredients are used in the preparation. The ambiance is also warm and so are the staff. A must-visit place for all especially for the seafood lovers.
One of the best restaurants in Bengaluru serving coastal cuisine. The ambience is really pleasant. The menu consisted of typical Konkan, coastal Karnataka cuisine. The taste is to die for. Prawns Pulimunchi and mushroom gheeroast is a must try. Neer dhosey tastes heavenly. The quantity and quality is also really good. The service was excellent and there was no service charge in the bill.
Very good place for mangalorean food. Esp the ghee roast and prawn rawa fry. The anjal masala fry was also well done. The ambience of the place resembles the Goan shacks and completes the Mangalore experience.
They serve Authentic Mangalorean food. Tasty delecious. Nice service. No complaints. One must try. I will definitely go back again. Happy customer :)
Great place for some authentic mangalorean food. Located on the top of the attic, the place has a great ambience of a coastal setup. Ghee roast, panpolo are my all time favorites. Anjal fish preparations are excellent. Try their fish thalis on week days. Sol Kadi, Khoto, Shevai, dalitoy, batata song, are unique konkani delicacies which should not be missed. Top it off with mini gudbad ice-cream. What a meal !
If u looking for some authentic coastal food in and round JP Nagar then this is the right place for u... I tried chicken ghee roast, chicken sukkha, Sear Tawa fry, Ladyfish Tawa fry and prawn masala fry:) it was all good but Ambience wasn't up to the mark... service is fast with friendly staff💖
This comfy little restaurant is one of my favourites I would say! Being a mangalorean, I miss my food and this restaurant is a saviour! The ambience is decent with shack-like interiors and the waiters are super friendly! We had ordered neer dosa, rice, chicken Gassi and Anjal masala fry! All the dishes tasted really well and our tummies were happy too :). The prices are cheap when compared to other seafood restaurants. I would definitely visit this again and recommend to my fellow foodies. :)
The place have a lovely ambience through its situated in right busy place , They have a dish that u have probably never heard of, but experiment bcz that taste different and almost authentic definetly, the prises for dicess are also OK, All the best guys 😀😀
Coastal mama authentic coastal food.
I loved chicken ghee roast it's amazing and neer dosa very soft
Definitely recommend all coastal livers
Really good. These guys know their coastal stuff. The steward recommended the crab masala, and it was really delicious. The traffic noise is a irritant else the decor is simple and neat
Great ambience , located on the second floor . They have expertise in coastal food in general but mangalorian konkani cuisine in particular . The must try combinations are Neer dosa and chicken/ squid sukka . Neer dosa and chicken / squid ghee roast . They have kokam juice which is authentic konkan drink . You can try all kinds of fishes 🐟🐟 here ,be it rava fry , tawa fry or masala fry all are yummy . Special recommendation would be kori rotti 🐤.
Coming to the rokda 💰 point of view , the menu is overpriced. U can visit this place just after you get your salary . Don't try this place during month ends 😂
There is something about the place which will make you revisit it maybe the soft appams or the costal decor. what got me back was a rainy night when we were hunting for a cozy place. Not being a seafood lover I would refrain from commenting on d crab or prawns but if not to acknowledge the extra colour the ghee roast prawns were worth a try. The gassi chicken and appams always tops my list but the chicken n mutton biryani is too heavy with loads of fried onions and oil. On a toto pocket friendly meal worth a try
Went there yesterday evening. It was probably the best seafood I have had in Bangalore till date. The king of the meal was surely the prawns ghee roast which we had. The combination with neer dosa was really great and I'm glad I took the recommendation of having both together offered to me. To top it all, we also were surprised to find Authentic Solkadi there after discovering it by chance. I'm scrapping that 0.5 out of the rating because I saw many posters of coke and diet coke but no mention of Solkadi apart from the one in the menu. I would suggest you guys to market the solkadi instead of the cold drinks since people would love to have it to complete their seafood experience.
Service is fast and ambience is decent too.
A must visit for a seafood lover.
The management has tried to give ambience a coastal look...(you can find a boat 🚣 as well).
We ordered chicken ghee roast, which was quite good and went well with neer dosas. The prawn masala fry was not good at all, a big NO for this.
Apart from this the mackerel deep fry as well as mackerel rava fry was quite good.
Overall a nice place to dine in if one is looking for mangalore cuisine and loves the fish 🐟
Coastal mama
Authentic coastal flavoured food, nice ambience and well experienced staff, enjoyed time here with anjal tawa rava fry, crab ghee roast, prawn puli munchi gravy with neer dosa was yummy.
Coastal mama 😉
Awesome place for mangalorian cuisine.. We had ordered silver fish tawa fry(kane) with surprise of three whole fishes in a single plate, anjal masala fry- super as usual, with bandge ambat and panpolo (neerdosa)...we really had yummy food and fresh fish... Very affordable rates.. Must try for fish lovers
Coastal Mama..is Nice Mama!
It's been a while that I haven't reviewed any place. In Bangalore now for a short vacation and this happens to be my first review of an Indian food joint.
My brother Sanju Ace who is a resident of Bangalore suggested this place. He said it's a seafood joint. To be very frank I had 0 expectations walking to this restaurant because people around me always used to tell NOT to have seafood in Bangalore because they never get "fresh" fishes in Bangalore.
But I was surprised when the food came.
To start with, I loved the ambience of this joint. Felt like I am at a beach side.
The table ..sofas.. candles..lights.. all were matching with the food they serve!
We ordered Sea food soup,Crab ghee roast, anjal (king fish) rava fry, Chicken sukka and Neer dosa. I heard their Neer Dosa is famous so we didn't order anything apart from that!
Sea food soup was average, anjal rava fry was good, it's different compared to the typical Kerala fish fry.. they coat the fish with rava and then deep fry it.
Chicken sukka was average too..
but the highlight of the evening was "Crab Ghee Roast" the masala they used was just WOW..and it was a perfect combination with Neer dosa. I hardly try crab at any restaurant, I always have it at home. But this time I was blown away with the masala. It was spicy, thick and very tasty! I suggest one should visit this place ONLY to try that!
Ambience and interior: 3.5

Crab Ghee Roast :4.5 ☺️
Verdict: Excellent! Must try if you love sea food esp crab.
My pick : Crab Ghee Roast.
Amazing coastal food. I loved the Sanna, need dose, squid and prawns ghee roast were too good. If you are a seafood lover then this is a place to visit.
Being a Mangalorean wanted to try some Mangalorean food from a long time. We visited Coastal Mama for dinner. The ambiance was as per the coastal theme. Servers were polite.
Food ordered
Starter: Course: Anjal and Kane Masala Fry
Main Course:
Chicken Ghee Roast & Neer Dosa
The Fish masala fry was amazing and we haven't had something better than this in Bangalore. Chicken ghee roast was a little spicy but nice.Neer dosas were soft and went quite well with Chicken ghee roast. We also ordered some buttermilk which was very good. It's a must try!
Overall,a nice place for Mangalorean food in JP Nagar at very reasonable prices
Visited coastal mama probably 2-3weeks back for dinner. They have tried to make ambience look a lil like coastal beach with a boat & fishnet.the eye catcher is the conch shell 🐚 used as water tap in their hand wash are. Regarding food we had neer dosa , chicken ghee roast, kori rotti gassi and raagi mani for dessert. Except the desert other dishes were tasty authentic Mangalorean. Dessert didn't impress my taste buds.
Amazing Mangalorean & konkan food.. Good ambience.. awesome service... Overall loved the place 👍
Definitely recommend this restaurant to one n all ✌️
Most delicious Manglorian food in Bangalore..!!
Fish thali really tastes authentic, and how can I forget the awesome Sol curry which we ordered an extra 2
It was afternoon and I was craving for food so I opened zomato app on my phone and started searching for nearby restaurants. Then I saw this restaurant and immediately I decided to give it a try.
Being a Goan I always crave for seafood and this restaurant made my day.
This place offers konkani style Mangalorian authentic food.
I ordered Chicken Thali and Prawns Rava fry. I am impressed they have Deep fry, masala fry , Rava fry, Tava fry, Tava Rava fry , Ghee roast in options.
Prawns Rava fry were totally worth it. Cost was Rs.320.
I also ordered Squids masala fry which was for Rs.260.
Both the dishes were absolutely delicious.
Chicken Thali contains White rice/other rice, Chicken curry with one piece, Chichen sukha , Rassam , Buttermilk , Pickle.
#Dishes worth trying:
* Chicken Thali
* Prawns Rava Fry
#Pros:
* Good Taste
* Authentic food for sea food lovers.
* Variety in Fish fry.
#Cons:
* Chicken Thali had less options( can give 2 chicken pieces) since the restaurant below offers you far more options in chicken thali than this one.
#Final verdict

Came to know abt this place after I had checked out the super seafood collection in zomato. This place offers konkani style mangalorean authentic food. Things you should order -
1) the CLASSIC Chicken ghee Roast with Neerdosas.
2)Fish thali.
3)Kokum kadi (a pinkish looking coconut based drink which is their specialty)
-Chicken ghee Roast was amazing and it tasted exactly like the authentic one from mangalore. Neerdosas were soft and went great with the ghee Roast.
-Fish thali comes with fish curry, fish fry, rasam etc. The fish curry was thick and great tasting. One change maybe they could make is the fish rava fry. It would be better if they put a masala fry in its place. Nevertheless it all tasted good.
-Kokum kadi had a unique taste and it was good.
This place is moderately light on the pocket for its taste and quantity. U can have a sumptuous meal for a good price . Had a great time. Will definitely visit again.
Wanted to try some Mangalorean food so visited Coastal Mama for lunch. Ambience was as per the coastal theme. Servers were polite.
Food ordered
Starter : Prawn Yaddemunchi(Pepper Prawn)
Main Course : Chicken Ghee Roast & Neer Dosa
Dessert: Gajar Halwa with Ice Cream
Prawn Yaddemunchi was delicious. Its an amazing starter option.Chicken ghee roast was a little spicy but nice.Neer dosas were soft and went quite well with Chicken ghee roast. For dessert,we wanted to order Doodhpak(Konkani rice kheer) but it wasn't available so we opted for Gajar Halwa with Ice Cream. We weren't disappointed as it was too good! It's a must try! Overall,a nice place for Mangalorean food in JP Nagar.
Best place for Konkani and mangalorean food in JP Nagar!
I've been frequenting this place since moved to Bangalore.. They have a variety of fish and chicken dishes to offer. The menu varies from day to day so make sure you've checked the menu in advance to plan your meal. My preferred choice is the thali in the noon as they have a boiled rice option available for the same. As I'm a Konkani guy, i love the daal they make.. Also they interiors are modelled to match the coastal theme and they telecast some live matches as well. Plus.. Free WiFi as well.
Please note that nothing in the thali is unlimited and everything taken additionally is charged extra.
The hunt for good seafood joints in JP Nagar ended today with Coastal Mama. Walked in quite early in the afternoon and we had the place to ourselves. The service was quick and efficient. The seafood (Pomfret, squid, prawns) was fresh, the flavours just right. Spicy, yet not overpowering. The highlight of the meal was the Kokum kadi. Light, refreshing drink to wash down all the spice.
And above all, the price. For the quality and quantity they serve, especially of fresh seafood, the price is very reasonable.
Recommended for seafood lovers, especially for those who prefer the Mangalorean / Konkani variety.
Wanted to try a new place for my seafood craving. The place did not disappoint at all. Ordered Prawns pullimunchi chicken ghee roast appam neer dosa and ghee rice. The food was mouthwatering spicy as desired and had a unique taste. Buttermilk balanced the spice intake.

If you love seafood, you will LOVE this place! My family ordered rava-fried kane, tava-fried pomfret, crab ghee roast, prawn pulimunchi, appams and lassi. The sea food was extremely fresh and the preparations/marinades were absolutely delicious!!!
Even the ambiance was great - a fun Goan beach theme. Service was also good - very polite and helpful staff.
Overall it was an enjoyable and delicious dining experience!
If Kormangala has coast to coast, JP nagar has coastal mama!!! Amazing chicken ghee roast, Chicken gassi, neer dosa was cooked to perfection and Tawa fish fry was amazing, I even took some home :) The only problem is they take quiet long to serve the food and the mosquitoes. Else it would have been a perfect 5. Getting a parking spot is a problem on the weekends, there is no valet parking, thats ok as the place is not very expensive and this is not a complaint but a heads up.
This place is one of the best Mangalorean cuisine restaurant. The silver fish rawa fry, prawns hinga udda are consistently finger licking good. Kori Rotti was good, but had consistency issues during multiple visits. Other chicken items are good too. I'll come back here any day for taste of authentic Konkani food
Visited the place in d afternoon.... The dishes were presented very well... It had the absolute mangalore taste... Ambience was pretty much good...it was worth paying for the food... Especially when it comes to sea foods... Will surely like to visit the place again but in the night... However the order taker was a bit annoying...😐
Coastal Mama serves authentic Konkani and Manglorean cuisine which is hard to find in Bangalore.
Located on the 2nd floor on the main road near Starbucks, the restaurant is not hard to locate.
I had visited Coastal Mama on a Sunday evening.
The place reminds me of the shacks in Goa giving a raw feel. Rooftop seating is a plus.
The first dish I ordered was a Ghee roast chicken and never I had thought it would be so good. Perfectly blended in spices the masala was too good.
The seekh corn kabab was equally good. Paneer takatak is something which should be tried by all the vegans.
The service was slow as I had to wait around 45 minutes for the fist dish to arrive so have patience when you visit Coastal Mama. Everything comes at a reasonable price.
Definitely recommended.
Happy eating!
Had chicken thali and fish. The curries for both were purely authentic and unique to taste. However, some major glitches observe were rassam and raddish served which destroyed the unique purpose of having meat. Don't know why vegetarian dishes need to be served with chicken thali. Quantity of chicken per serving needs to be looked upon, especially for the curry.
If u have love for Mangalorean food, if u love Konkani Food (veg + Non veg) this is where u can fish some typical Amchi cuisine like ambat ( coconut based gravy light on stomach , blast of coastal spices on the tounge. Neer dosa, paneer Ghee roast, is my all time favourite. My wife being a punjabi loves Konkani food which is prepared here.. though a vegetarian I believe even Fish eaters may find solace here. Ambience 3/5, value for money 3.8/5, hygiene 3.5/5, service 3.8/5.
100% kodial (mangalore) amchigele fish curries available only here in entire Bangalore. For those konkani guys missing home food, this is exactly the same 'gashi's' your mom makes at home. Super taste, just like your home randai. The ambience is Goa shack ambience.
For those unfamiliar with this cuisine, from my own/parents entertaining experience, it's a bit difficult to like konkani cuisine right away. You have to develop a taste for it, slowly.
There are other restaurants serving bits and parts of Konkani veg food ( Kamat lokaruchi, Woody's) or catering veg (Sona kodial/Namma kudla) and of course many awesome mangalorean tulu cuisine restaurants with a few stray konkani dishes on their menu. But the dedicated restaurants are just 2 - Coastal Mama and Kanua. Kanua and Fish land (with few fish dishes) have their own strengths but the taste for me is not like the true blue Konkani home food. Coastal Mama scores where none have - you really feel like you are eating at your mamama's place which is your maternal grandmother's place.😁😁
We started with the regular mangalorean dishes, clam sukka (marvai sukka), squid fry ( bondas fry), chicken ghee roast. All were super fresh and tasty, the chicken ghee roast literally gave me nirvana, so delicious 😊 we were 3 of us, so we were already full and remembered we came for the Konkani dishes, not the regular mangalorean dishes that we already ordered.🙄so we ordered the maanji alle piao gashi (pomfret ginger onion curry) and sungat pannaupkari ( prawn pannaupkari) with white rice. It was authentic and super delicious, needed a bit of salt for me for the perfect taste. If we were more hungry would have been a manna from heaven. We had to parcel most of it. For drinks we had the sol kadi (recommended) and kokum juice (not recommended). We were too full to order dessert.
The service was quick and pleasant even on a busy saturday evening but during the ordering part, I felt it was a bit brusque, possibly because of the busyness.
Kudos to the owner Dinesh Shenoy for maintaining the taste of the fish dishes - he grinds the gravy for pannaupkari at his home as the home taste cannot be replicated accurately in the restaurant kitchen. From his account, both his mom and wife don't eat non vegetarian, so it was a surprise that he gets the gravy taste right😌 most people bought up veg at home don't relate to fish the same way as regulars, normally. He even has to maintain seperate vessels and cooking area for veg and non veg at home.😂😂😂 A foodie can always appreciate the lengths a true food lover can go to ensure perfect taste for his customers.
On the suggestions to non vegetarians, if you are north indian, try the north indian dishes here with a side of chicken/prawn/crab ghee roast the first time and maybe veg cabbage ambado / fish fry and the like. You can move to fish gravy dishes in later visits. If you are keralite, you can have the fish fries along with Alle -piao Gashi with brown/white rice. Try the pannaupkari with fish such as mackerel/ anjal etc in next or first round itself 😁 For Bangalore kannadigas who eat fish sparingly/rarely, try prawn ghee roast and any fish fry (silver fish fry maybe) will pomfret alle piao Gashi white rice as main course or chicken curry white rice. Bengalis /oriyas are more experimental with fish anyway, just go for anything new you have not tried, you will enjoy it. For vegetarians, you can try thali(not sure i did not check if they have) or cabbage ambado, paneer ghee roast, potato song (if you can tolerate spicy) and daalitoy with rice. There is no Chinese on the menu.
I ordered food through zomato, great yummy sea food, even we cant get in coastal area, fresh and authentic, fish is jst superb, value for money, did i recommed(y)
When u r craving for some good costal cuisine near J P nag. Then u must try this..
This has always been my picking for costal in jpnagar.
Restaurant is easy to locate its on the main road,
It's in the third floor.
They have a coastal themed Ambiance.. Which is good but looks pretty old now, we can see some are and tear.
Coming to food
I have been here around 8times but unfortunately I have stuck to the same old menu😝
Neer dose and chicken ghee roast... It's good and yummy. Qty served is good one must say value for money.
Things tat needs to be improved are service and cleanliness..
But still I ll go there again and again... Have some good memories at that place.
Excellent food at their price point. The Ghee Roast Chicken and Squid Masala Fry was good. The Fish Green Chutney was excellent. Can't comment on the service as this was a delivery order.
Went to this place last night ..ambience is not upto the mark ..ordered nonveg prawn deep fry it was gud ..and i ordered one more is fish it was amazing taste is atmost
A nice place to enjoy the mangalorian food, a very cute rooftop place. One can come here with family and friends and have the coastal food, not much options for vegans though. The chicken ghee roast is nice here.
Too gud place....and the best thing about this place is the ambience and the coastal theme😍
Wen comes to food non veg is the best and veg too norm...biriyani is just heaven😘last but not the least desserts😍tried New dessert choco mousse...presented in the glass jar ...it was epic
If you are a fish lover then it is a really good place for you....u can get many varieties of fish at this place....I ordered a fish platter where you get 5 types of fish and is sufficient for 2 people...taste is really awesome....service is also good...ambience is decent..
Awesome food. Tasted some really nice food in Bangalore after a very long time. I am so impressed with these guys. I took a home delivery of food and the food was well packed and taste was finger licking good. All stars to Coastal Mama
Been here on a sunny afternoon for lunch as it's near to my office. We wanted to taste some fish as we had heard about this place so much. We ended up ordering Fish Tikka, Chicken Ghee Roast and Mutton Roganjosh along with Nuns and Sweet Lime Sodas. The service was efficient and the food was surprisingly very delicious. Since, it was early afternoon, the place was quite deserted but the whole restro is decorated in Seas Food decor.
(The service/the waiters/the owner)
What a pity that the service does not accompany the high quality of the cooking. You can hardly get a smile out of the waitresses. Thankfully the owner and hostess,
From the ambiance to the service to the taste of the food and the presentation, this restaurant ticks all the boxes. I had been here with my family and each one of us enjoyed the food. Prawn rava Fry must definitely be on your order. Neer dosa with chicken ghee roast is another amazing combination. Parking however may be an issue.
It's like you shouldn't judge the book by the cover. I recently shifted my place from kathriguppe to bannerghatta road and was out looking for a good seafood restaurant. Had been to seasons, deadly, but they were expensive. I came across this place in zomato and decided to go to this place. After reaching the place I was perplexed as I have traveled on the outer ring road from home to office for the past 5 years and have never noticed it. From outside it looks like a pakka military hotel type of vibe, but after entering I like the beach shack style dinning. Especially the hand wash. We ordered quite a lot of items crab ghee roast, prawn ghee roast which we liked the most. The masala in it was so smooth with red byadagi chillies and not spicy at all. It was melt in the mouth dish. We also ordered silver fish rava fry and squid fry which was delicious. To go with them ordered kokum kadi and juice which were great but was really missing out on beer. For mains we ordered pomphet gassi, appam and neer soda which was delicious. Overall loved the food and has become my usual go to place for mangalorean food
A random plan one afternoon and we were suddenly all the way across town in JP Nagar.
Place was pretty packed, either get a reservation or be prepared to wait.
The wait was worth it for me. Good seafood. The fish seemed fresh and the flavors were almost on point.
The food takes a while to come though, but hey, what better have we got to do in life anyway eh?

Been here so many times. This is an awesome place for sea food lovers and Mangalorean cuisine. Its pocket friendly too. The staff are really good and the Manager walks around to check if everything is fine. Chicken ghee roast - neer dosa, fish curry, Marwai sukka are my favourites here.
Ambience : 3.5/5
Food: 4.75/5
Price : 5/5
Service: 4.5/5
Verdict : I would recommend this place
Nice Ambience nice decor... food nothing impressive didn't like the ghee rice and the biriyanis the taste was not atall great... the windy atmosphere though didn't make it that bad...
This is one place that I really loved.. the ambience was nice, with lovely Breeze and coastal settings.. we had Aappam, neer dosa, egg curry, ghee rice and biryani.. everything was made very nice.. I couldn't find fault with any of the dishes.. the quantity was also quite good. We spent about 800 rs for 5 people, which was really reasonable..
Was in a mood to have Mangalorean food and visited the place. A rooftop open space with decent ambiance describing Mangalore sea shore theme was impressive.
Ordered Chicken sukka with neer dosa and also a Fish Thali. Chicken sukka coated with dry coconut powder and masala was very yummy and was the best combination with neerdosa. We also ordered Aapam for the remaining Chicken sukka (good quantity was offered).
Fish Thali was simple yet tasty with a piece of fish fry, lady fish curry along with rice, rasam, buttermilk and fish chutney.
Service was good. Best place to hangout and enjoy some nice Mangalorean cusine!
My husband and I had been to this place for dinner. The ambience is good but not great. It is a simple place to go with family. We both love mangalore cuisine and this place has it. I loved the food. The ghee roast, sukka, ghassi everything was typical konkan style. To top it their kokum kadi is awesome. I ordered for one and could not resist having another. My husband had not tasted it before and he ended up having two as well. So overall this is a good place for mangalore food.
Coastal Mama is a fairly low profile, rooftop restaurant .A simple beach-side seafood shack décor (slightly on the shabby side) but comfortable enough. The menu is quite diverse with seafood, chicken, mutton and a few veggie choices. The service staff, not the friendliest, but bearable.
The star of the ensemble, though, is the food, full 5 stars. We ordered prawn Rava fry, squid/bondas ghee roast, Kane fish curry, along with neer dosa n boiled rice n buttermilk. I must say it was AWESOOOMMME!!. Fresh fish, great spice and seasoning and great quantity. For 2adults and a child, it cost around Rs.1300, fairly reasonable.
The Bondas/squid ghee roast needs an honorary mention, squid is extremely tricky to cook and most places that I have tried squid dishes, the squid is generally rubbery or stringy. But the minute I put this squid in my mouth it melted as though it was butter(we ended up ordering 2) The perfectly cooked squid reassured me that the food is in good hands. I have also read that the ghee roast is their specialty, so one must try it when at CM (chicken, prawn, squid).
Their service starts at 12 noon, I recommend that people go in as early as possible, 2-2:30pm is their peak time on weekends, plus lots of take away orders, so the service becomes snail paced n long waiting times. Other irksome thing is the fish thaali, for some unfathomable reason, cannot be ordered on a weekend. Only a la carte orders are accepted. I could not take any pics since their food was irresistible, I couldn't wait to eat it (plus the fact that food took about 20-30mins to arrive didn't help the cause)
Food (quality and quantity)- 5/5
Ambience - 3.5/5
Service - 3/5
Price - 4.5/5
We ordered Anjal fish fry. Thin coat of red chilly paste they applied on fish fry which makes it spicy and fish is fresh ,tastes good. Chicken kadai tasted too good. Overall food quality, taste is very good 4.5/5. Coastal mama is pocket friendly, not that expensive.
Ambience is fine, its roof top restaurant. There is no A/c, I think only that this restaurant lacks.
Love their sea food! I ordered fish curry, forgot the name of fish.. Anyway it was brilliant! Whole fish with curry was so good. Soft and lip licking taste!
This is a place that I could say serves very good konkan/ Mangalorean cuisine in south Bangalore. The location is on the ORR very close to Brewsky.
The place is quite well laid out over a rooftop with maybe seating for around a 40 or 40 guests. Service is quite decent, owning to being a coastal place knowing the language might fetch u bonuses :)
Food is finger licking good, their sukka, ghee roast and all fish preparations are yummy and if not the spicy loving kinds do request them to get that chilly down or else you might need quite a few kokum juices to wash your palate with.
Overall :

A terrace restaurant, specializing in Mangalorean cuisine. Not the best choice for a vegetarian family but we decided to try this out. Not much of a service to boast about, and the person who took our orders wasn't particularly happy that we were vegetarian. I don't blame him, since there was nothing other than a veg gassi and dal, which can be called veggie. However, when the food arrived, it was quite ok, and the appams were fluffy and nice. Finished off with a ragi mani. Different.
Have been visiting this place since 2015 and quite like the authenticity and simplicity of the Sea food here ..
Their Fish Thali is worth it as it has the right mix on ur plate .
The Ragi Manni was a discovery and guess we are all addicted to it now :)
Hope the Goodness stays
Coastal mama interiors is small , quaint but comfortable. I had a huge craving for fish so we decided to try this place out. We loved both the sear fish tawa fry and masala fry black pomfret with neer dosa. Chef took time to cook the fish which we didn't mind as the food was served fresh and delicious.
Food: 4/5, Ambiance: 3.5/5, service: 4/5, cost: 4/5 Quite busy place on Saturday lunch. Roof top restaurant. Coastal theme. Anjal rava fry, bangada curry is worth trying. Authentic mangalorian coastal food.
We went to this restaurant with no expectations. The team was very cordial. The food was just too good, authentic to the core, a kind of food that makes you crave for more even though you are full. If you are a fan of Coast 2 Coast in Koramangala and Mangalore Pearl in Ulsoor, my dear friends in JP Nagar, Jayanagar, BTM and BG Road..we have a closer and equally good restaurant in our neighborhood. A must visit for all who love Mangalore cuisine.
A quaint little place with a homely ambience. Enjoyed eating here, delightful seafood prepared in mangalorean style. Tried the prawns pulimunchi, kokum juice, chicken sukka, fish curry and enjoyed a lot. A must try 😊
The non veg stuff is too good. I liked the ambience as well. The only thing they need to work on is the service time. A must visit for foodies around JP Nagar.
Sunday lunch, and it takes 40 mins to serve. Even though the waiter said it wud take 20-25 mins, still 40 mins, is a crime. Not just me all tables. What irked me was that all delivery orders were moving out at much better pace. Not impressed at all.
Ok, the food, contrary to above is fabulous. I have ordered food before from Costal Mama, and I am a big fan. The freshness of the produce is mind blowing. I guess that one quality makes one forgive and forget everything else. The sea food....don't think have to say much...don't think twice, zomato or swig it, and let the mama blow you over ;)
We found this restaurant through Zomato. My hubby is a hard core sea-food lover, and since he hails from the coastal region of Kundapur, he tries to find restaurants in Bangalore that cater that cuisine. We zeroed in on this one, since this had Konkan and Mangalorean cuisine and pretty close to our area.
Upon reaching there, we were floored by the ambience and deco of the restaurant. Their Menu card boasted of so many different varieties of food. He wanted to try their Fish curry(Bhaangde) with rice, while I went for the Kundapur chicken curry and a plate of Neer Dose. Both of us were satisfied with the authentic Mangalorean taste of the dishes and had our tummies full. Me being a dessert freak, had to have their Gudbud, but since I was so full, settled for the miniature version of it. It tasted so yummm. Nice creamy ice cream, with lots of tooty frooty, jellies, nuts and fruits. Over all, it was a very happy experience and we decided to frequent this place.
Price wise it's not too expensive, when compared to the other such sea-food restaurants. Ambience wise it's setup is very different and welcoming. I especially loved their wash basin, where the tap is a big sea shell from which the water falls. Kudos to the team of Coastal Mama. They have won my heart n my hubby's with their tasty food, pricing and ambience.
Recently visited coastal mama along with a few friends who were craving for seafood.I however wasn't in a mood for spicy mangalorean stuff.I took the somewhat brave decision to order northindian food at a seafood joint. To my amazement I was blown away by the quality North Indian food C Mama had to offer.Fish tikka and the chic Achari tikka was lip smacking. For mains had biryani and chic Nawabi which was also above the average found in most North Indian joints.Finshed off with a mini gadbad, overall a very palate pleasing affair.Would recommend that they add northindian/Mughlai on the main board hanging outside the restaurant, given the quality of the dishes.
Very good ambiance, lot of open space . Great place will love to go back specially for sea food. Service is excellent, Try out their seafood!!! yummmy
This is the place to be if you are craving for Mangalorean-Konkani cuisine. The Prawns Masala fry and Chicken ghee roast are totally recommended. They were excellent and were a great combination with Neer dosa, which was very soft. Kokum juice was really good and a must try.
Amazing Experience !!. The service is excellent. The Neer Dosa and the Chicken Ghee Roast exceptionally good.
The prawns ghee roast was amazing! That with neer dosa and another plate of chicken ghee roast made my day. The ambience was good. Special mention to their conch shaped wash basin :)
: A decent choice for Mangalorean food. ambiance, service is very good.very less rice items, but the quality of the food was really good. fish seems bit costly. i love to visit again
Descent place. Delicious food but the décor and overall ambiance could be better. Service was prompt, even on a busy Sunday afternoon. We had Pomfret rava fry, prawn sukka, chicken ghee roast, neer dosa and anjal curry. All of which were well prepared and definitely met my expectations.

They were excellent and were a great combination with Neer dosa, which was very soft. Kokum juice was really good and a must try. The cherry on top was the Gudbud, which was too good, just like the ones we have in Mangalore. The rooftop ambiance is pretty good. And light on the pocket as well. Great place for coastal food.

Coastal mama is a lovely place when you're craving some Mangaloean food, pretty lights for company and a cool, pleasant atmosphere. I have been here twice already and I loved it both times.
Being a fan of Chicken ghee roast, I love this dish here and the appams to go with it. We'd also tried their kori roti this time, which was a very interesting dish as I hadn't tried it before. It has a chicken curry with rice crackers that make for a rather filling combination. Owing to the weather, we'd also tried their chicken soup which was wholesome and very tasty. I'd highly recommend this place.
My craving for Mangalore flavours finally took me to this place. Did not see any advertisement, did not check the ratings on net , just followed my gut- instinct...and voilà...I was not disappointed....must try their chicken ghee roast and neer dosa, and variety of fish gravies with boiled rice. Appam and chappathis are good too.
This place has the best sea food in south Bangalore, period! Order prawn rava fry and fish pullimunchi (note of caution that its fiery) complete with hot neer dosa and appams. I have been here multiple times and have been treated to freshest fish!
The ambience is nice and simple, a place I love to go to unwind and relish good food
Nice place to try Mangalorian Sea Food. Clean flavours and relatively fresh fish are the highlights.
Service is bit slow, but is manageable.
Over all good place to take care of your sea food cravings.
Before coming to this place I only had tasted sea food twice. We were looking for some freshwater fishes to eat. After visiting were realised we were not getting any so we decided to try a pomfret gravy with jeera rice. The taste was good and the fish was properly cooked, couldn't even feel it wasn't freshwater. The portions were good enough I was full by the end. Plan to visit again.
Being a Mangalorean and finding a great and affordable place like coastal mama is truly a boon. All the seafood delicacies are authentic and yummy. Didn't try the vegetarian stuff as that's what we prepare at home on a daily basis. Since it's a rooftop restaurant, rains can be troublesome.

Heard about this place... Ambience makes one feel like the shacks in Goa ( barring the traffic noise always around the road )... Coming to starters, we tried Prawn
Ghee Roast which was awesome. Mixed veg bajo was nothing but the pakoda we have in any restaurant. Next the crab sukkha with need dosa. Gives a real taste of Mangalorean cuisine. King fish tava fry was just the way I'd like. Mildly spiced with chilli powder and turmeric. Can get the flavour of coconut oil in which the fish is fried. Also had pomfret curry with rice. Batata humman was nice accompanied with rice. Good option for vegetarians. Has a bit of tangy flavour guess coz of tamarind. And can't miss the Sol kadi. Cold and perfectly made with a lot of garlic and green chilli paste. Only compliant would be about the crab being too skinny. Reasonably priced. Overall I'll give it a 4. Must try for seafood lovers...
There are many restaurants in bangalore who claim to be Mangalorean cuisine and don't live up to the promise. To start with, this one is real/authentic. The menu has a lot of mangalorean dishes and so far I am never disappointed with what I have ordered. Clam curry is one of my fav here. However, Clam sukka was not great, just good, missed some flavors and had too much onion/coconut mixture, hence -0.5. Overall, this is one of the best coastal cuisine available around Kormangala. To top it all, the prices are way too low compared to other restaurants.
I always hunt for Mangalore style food and I found this place as one which just met my expectations. Visited twice. Kori rotti was good and neer dosa 😍. Ghee roast wasn't that great. Pulimunchi was good. Visit here to taste Mangalore style food.
Very nice place if you would like to have authentic konkani and Mangalorean sea food cuisine.. Ambience is peaceful and calm.. Please order ghee roast and puli munchi dishes either prawns or chicken... everything was upto the mark. Service can be better in terms of suggesting on what dishes go in combinations for rice or neer dosa..
Amazing Experience i had when i visited the place today. The service is excellent. The Neer Dosa and the Chicken Ghee Roast exceptionally good. The Captain Mr. Shenoy was very Welcoming and even spoke in Tulu and Konkani and was very Friendly. All in all an amazing experience of Dining. Looking forward to eat there again
Had been took this place last evening and ordered the typical Mangalore dishes. Food was good as expected but the Gadbad ice cream was mind blowing. If you are from Mangalore and missing Ideals then just try the Gadbad here.
Loved the seafood! The solkadi, the khubbe sukke and the prawn curry were absolutely delicious and the flavors definitely hit home! The neer dosa is also excellent. Overall, a nice, quaint Mangalorean joint. The beach themed decor of the restaurant is very pretty, especially the washbasin. The pricing is extremely reasonable too.
great place.....ambiance was simple but was really good...we had prawn curry and rice....and fish tawa fry, veg gassi and appam... all were very tasty and well perpared... only very few restaurant know how to prepare fish dishes.. and this coastal mama... is really good...the seafood does not have any weird smell...
Ordered Kori Roti (it comes with chicken gravy), Neer Dosa and Egg Curry.
Kori Roti - Authentic!
Chicken Gravy - The best combo for Kori Roti. This serves for one person. This tasted like the authentic mangalore chicken gravy.
Neer Dosa - A set of five dosas. Authentic taste. Could've made it a little bigger. Not sufficient for one.
Egg Curry - Tasted good!
Overall
Food: 4.5/5 (Based on what I had)
Ambience: NA (This was a home delivery)
Service: 5/5 (Home delivery was real quick)
Value for money: 4/5
Will I order again? - Yes!
Great and unique food experience! Am sure not one of those run of a mill. A glance at the menu sets the mood. Food taste and style is an uncomplicated Indian flavour. Further, stays happy in your stomach; no issues in the morning. Need to add that even the packing was simple and just sufficient. Amazing.
Craving for coastal cuisine & looking for restaurants on Zomato, I bumped into this pace. Drove down for dinner with wife & we loved the food here.
The place has amazing prawns. And I do mean Amazing - try Prawns Yeddemunchi & prepare to be thoroughly amazed.

Nice and quite place to have dinner with family. Staff are very courteous. Food does not have a hotel like touch and tastes more home made. Chicken pulimunchi with neer dosa was excellent. Bangda masala fry is also repeatable. Definitely would visit again to try the other food in the menu.
Walked into this restaurant with a friend for lunch. Ordered, Kane tava fry, prawn ghee roast, neer dose, kori rotti and mini gudbud.
Gravy served with rotti was bit bland. Taste of Kane tava fry was spot on.
Restaurant has coastal theme. Manager Mr.Dinesh Shenoy was very courteous.
Food: 4

Had been to costal mama! Two days back. Place is good, loved the candles they give. Food was fantastic!! My drive to fish land mysore to have sea food will end up in costal mama from now on.
Being from South Canara, crave for coastal food in Bengaluru is never ending .I had been to this place with a friend of mine for a Sunday lunch being very skeptical about it. The place has indeed exceeded our expectations. We had ordered a not so starter: p, The very famous Chicken ghee roast followed by perfectly spiced Kori rotti, authentic Appam and Kane rava fry (drooling):D and happily ended it with Gudbud, not a fan of Gudbud though but I simply loved it :)
Final Verdict:
Ambience-3.9
Food -4
Value for money-4.5
If you love and miss seafood/authentic Coastal food, you know where to barge in next :)
Best place to visit in south Bangalore if you like coastal and sea food. Ambience is good and so is the seating arrangement. My favourites would be the kokam juice and the prawn curry. The food does resemble mangalorean cuisine. Visit if you like coastal food.
Ordered from here couple of days back and was completely satisfied with kori gassi and neer dosa
..with the abysmal food quality of home delivered food in and around JP nagar this place definitely stands out for Mangalorean good
I had been there for dinner last night with my family. The ambience is pleasing.. windy and nice soft lights with comfortable seating. The food was amazing!! Prawn ghee roast with neer dose!! ( drooling again!!!) The chicken curry was tasty and fried fish ( rava fried bangda) was so so. The service was quick and waiters very attentive. Overall a lovely experience.. Will definitely be visiting again soon :)
Good place to have coastal food. We ordered fish curry and boiled rice. And kokam juice. Ambience is good. Service is very fast. Good place for sea food lovers.
The ambience is perfect to compliment the cuisine and the service is fast and customer friendly.
The bangda tawa fry is a good start for the seafood lovers.
Also the neer dosa and appam are cooked with perfection but when it comes to the Ghee Roast chicken, the ghee was missing... Yet the masala was divine.
Anyone away from home looking for authentic manglorean food must definetly pay a visit to this place. Pleasant ambiance great food and easy to locate.
Started with Bangda masala fry. Awesome sea food. Ghee rice was very good. Loved it. Very fast delivery. Overall good experience. Wanna go again😀
Authentic mangalorean food, very hospitable staff and apt ambience a relaxing dinner. Would definitely recommend this place to anybody craving homely manglorean food. Looking forward to trying the lunch thali next time.
Loved the seafood! The solkadi, the khubbe sukke and the prawn curry were absolutely delicious and the flavors definitely hit home! The pricing is extremely reasonable too.
Lovely coastal food. The crabs, prawns, curries with neer dosas and appams were great. Nice friendly place and service..... The only thing missing was beer, would have been great specially with the spicy coastal meats on a nice evening on the rooftop! :)
Am trying mangalore kinda food for the first time! And yes it was yum and any sea food lover likes this place. I tried chicken ghee roast, prawn curry and Anjal tawa fry.... Chicken ghee roast was the best of all... Spicy and tasty:) I would recommend this place to all especially those craving for sea food in Bangalore.....
Lovely place! The ghee roast is to die for, quite capable of making you crave it once a month at least. The neer dosa is also excellent. Overall, a nice, quaint Mangalorean joint. The beach themed decor of the restaurant is very pretty, especially the washbasin.
I walked into this place today with some colleagues for lunch. We could all use a bite to eat and had heard good things about Costal Mama from multiple sources.
We were not disappointed. Although seafood is supposed to be every Mangalorean's pièce de résistance, I cannot comment on its quality because I don't partake but the rest of my company was really happy with the seafood platter.
I had the chicken ghee roast which was really well-made. My Mangalorean colleague told me they used the specialty red chilies that add a lot of colour to the food without it being overly spicy. The meat was also well-cooked and had blended with the spices really well.
The neer dosa was soft to the touch and tasty, while the appam was fluffy in the middle with the sides a little too hardened for my liking.
Some of my friends had the steamed rice with the chicken gassi and looked really happy with it.
We washed off the food with a not-too-cold drink of kokum, which, to my pleasant surprise was not sweetened to death like they make them in many other places.
All in all, a nice place to go to and I'm bound to visit here again when I am famished instead of merely peckish. :)
Good ambience decent delivery time but less spicy..Didn't feel coastal taste and was little over average. This was my second time and no change compared to first visit
So I finally headed to coastal mama with a sea food lover! The fact that it wasn't so famous like the other restaurants on the 100ft ring road jp nagar made me want to go more to this place and explore! We were not disappointed. We went on a Saturday afternoon, surprisingly it wasn't crowded. This place is on the first floor and we were sure the place looks prettier by the night. Tables are well spaced and no crowding. The staff were polite. I specially like the "conch" shaped hand-wash place that enhances the coastal feel. So coming to the food, we ordered just enough for two people. The prawn pulimunji was yummy and the mushroom ghee roast was tangy n fingrrlicking good. The appam and neer dose and the soups were just like in any other place. We tried a drink called kokum kadi made of coconut milk and pepper (it's a not sweet drink guys!) it turned out to be nice too. Dishes not at all over priced. Sea food lovers in South bangalore can happily head here.
Amazing coastal food, puttu, chicken kundapura, appam, neer dosa are my favourite. The staff are courteous. Rooftop, peaceful and superb value for money.
Best place for Goa and Karwar people..
Authentic Goan seafood Cuisines.. chicken ghee roast is a must try with Solkadi. it's simple great. Colorful ambience . Value for Money. Sea food hunters , this is the place for you.. Quick service
Looking for coastal food or mangalore food with nice decent beach/coastal ambience... Then coastal mama is the place for you. Located on 100ft road JP Nagar, gives you a chance to taste one of best seafoods. Good food with nice ambience and prompt service makes a worth visit to this place.
Though a very limited food.menu, but taste will certainly stands out. So I'll give 3.5 (0.5 deducted for limited food menu) otherwise a nice place to visit...
Excellent place for Mangalorean dishes!
I went there for lunch and the seafood was amazing we had Anjal Tawa Fry, Fish Thali, Prawn Curry and Ghee Roast.
The prawn curry was the best and for all you Ghee Roast lovers who've tasted it in Mangalore, unfortunately it's not exactly the same. The masala was much lighter and not as thick as the one you get in Mangalore but if you aren't going to Mangalore anytime soon, you could settle for this since it was still pretty good!
The ambience was nice it wasn't too crowded and yes you must have the Gadbad Ice Cream for dessert!
The prices were very reasonable and the quantity was excellent.
I'll definitely keep coming again.
food is mind blowing!!!! i had prawns deep fry and prawns rava fry!!! best i have ever had. Service too good! friendly staff. place also lovely.
This was my first visit to Coastal Mama so did not want to be very experimental and ordered the recommended Neer Dosa and Ghee Roast Prawns. The Neer Dosa was not all that soft but the prawns were fresh and yum.. Hence based on my single visit, I guess I would like to come back again to try other coastal dishes.
Wow! Truly Coastal!
If you want to indulge in authentic Coastal cuisine ... Please try this place ... It's awesome.
I loved their ambience as well!
Would love to visit again 😊
Ordered online and got the order within stipulated time. Food was packed good keeping it fresh and portion was good enough. I liked the sukkha and kundapur curry. Kids enjoyed.
We happened to visit Coastal mama on 15/01/2016 and I must say we were in for one gastronomic ride. Coming from a family of sea food lovers, this was the apt place to be. The service was timely, ambience was decent, the service staff are extremely polite and courteous.
The highlight of the restaurant was the sea food off course. We tried everything from seer fish, pomfret, prawns and clams and man I must say, all dishes were lip smacking. We thoroughly enjoyed every dish to our hearts content. Even the desert section doesn't disappoint you. Caramel custard and mini Gudbud were so heavenly that it rejuvenated our taste buds. On price front too, the restaurant is not tight on your purse strings. Items are decently priced. On the whole a memorable experience. This is one of the best sea food restaurants we have been so far and the first one in jp nagar. Would certainly recommend this to all sea food lovers out there. Happy eating!!!
Really good Malabar, Konkan cuisine on a nice rooftop setup with a projector. Suitable for many occasions: get-togethers, family outings, date, casual dinner (but might be slightly expensive). The quantities aren't too much. But can't say anything bad about the food. Everything we ordered was good.
I am a vegetarian, so, I would suggest Appam and the mixed veg curry. But my sister had prawn curry and fell in love with it.
I also recommend to try the Ragi Pudding for dessert. It tasted pretty good for a healthy dish, which isn't the case with most healthy foods.
I must confess I have only had first hand delivery experience from this place. And they have always been a pleasant experience. The gravies from this place are especially good. Go for this place if you are looking for honest southern coastal experience and don't care much for fancy.
Ordered online and delivery was real quick. Started with Mixed veg bajo, jeera Rice ,Dalitoy &Neer Dosa. Taste was good and prepared well. Loved it and will order again soon.
Lovely place and awesome food. They mainly serve Mangalore cuisine. Loved prawn ghee roast and chicken pulimunchi. I would love to visit this place again and again whenever I get the cravings for sea food. And last but not the least is very good staff.
one of the best coastal restaurant which i have been, neer dosa, sanna's and chicken curry was excellent. ambiance, service is very good.very less rice items, but the quality of the food was really good. fish seems bit costly. i love to visit again
Good tasty mangalorean food. No regrets going to this place for dinner. The chicken soup, clams sukkha, chicken ghee roast, neer dosa, Jeera rice everything was upto the mark.
The best part is they serve Gadbad Icecream and its tastes almost like the one served at pabbas, mangalore.
Biggest positive: Konkan flavour
Negative: Salt was less in a few dishes
Recommended dish: Chicken ghee roast, anjal fish, chicken kundapur (gravy) with appam.
Located on the 100 ft road, close to delmia circle. It is on the second floor and there is no lift. Can park on the main road, but there is a no parking board. The ambience is decently done. The service is pretty quick.
The food is konkani cuisine. The chicken ghee roast is very tasty, would have been perfect if it would have been a little more spicy. The squid rava fry was good. The anjal fish raha fry was also good. Found salt a little less in both these dishes though. The appam was well made and even the chicken kundapuri gravy with it was very good. Quantity is decent. The pricing, a lesser than fine dine restaurants especially considering sea food, so it is value for money for sure.
On the whole, when in mood for some good sea food, its one of the few good options in the area and is value for money as well.
Decent ambience. Very good Mangalorean cuisine. Lots of typical "amchi" food choices. Top place in JP Nagar area for "kudla" style food fanatics!
Oh! Wonderful food and service. I could not control myself with such delicious food on the table and ended up overeating. Trust me, I went on a guilt trip afterwards and detox session for complete two days. I recommend this place to almost everyone who loves Chicken Ghee Roast with Nir-Dosa or even to seafood lovers.
The most authentic sea food restaurant in Bangalore. Reminds me of my mom's dishes back home in Mangalore. Dropped in for a quick lunch withcolleagues, so we ordered fish and chicken thali. Quantities were sufficient, neer dosas were delicious and the fish and chicken gravies were delectable. Will be back soon to try out all the sea food.
I am vegetarian but still I go to this place. This place servers almost authentic konkani food. Food is lil expensive but tastes like home. Service should be improved. Recommended dishes are Dalitoy, Batata humman and upkaries :P
Not a big fan of coastal food but had been to this place to try out something. The place is calm.setup looks cool. Ordered a chicken thali.
Very attentive. Served quick. Food was average . But happy with the service and the ambience .so a 3.5
Got into this average looking, decently decorated fisherman's theme hotel for a lunch on a sunday at 1.30pm. Selected this hotel since we were in a mood to taste some fish dishes. If your are a fish lover then this is a very good spot. Not much of negative points to give. The only draw back is food comes in pretty late. Hopefully low man power is the reason. But anyway waiter and managers were very attentive as we never had to wait for some1 to take order. If you have plenty of time and lot of patients to have gud food, this is a good place..oh here comes my lunch finally..hopefully..we might finish it by 3.30pm.. :)
Good food, If you like Tulunadu konkani fish and chicken food. Try chicken and Fish Pulimunchi and Rava fry. Neerdosa, Rice Shavai, Appam are authentic and gel well with the Curry. Good ambiance. Don't forget to see the special washbasin design with shanka as a pipe. Over all good place most wanted in JP nagar, BTM and Bilekahalli area
Wonderful
If u are a true SeaFood / Mlore food fan .. This place is a Must visit .. It has excellent Fish curry and varieties of Fish fry ... Sparkling clean too ... Ambiance of a Beach side Shack :-)
Place is good for sea food lovers and who miss home food! Ordered squid ghee roast, neer dosa, kokum juice, kori rotti. All were really good and tasty. I loved the ghee roast. Ambience is good. Would suggest lil loud and good music. Prices are on the higher end and quantity is lesser. Overall good experience.
I ordered thru zomato. Wanted to try as it is spl for seafood. Ordered chilly prawn masala, appam n chicken fry.
Delivery was in good time. Didn't make me wait long. All of them were hot specially the appam.
Appam was soft n hot. Tasted very good. As good as authentic kerala one.
Prawn curry was yum. It went well with appam. It was touch spicy for me but very tasty. The prwans were very well cooked n juicy adding to the taste.
Chicken was decent taste. Can't find any fault with it.
Overall good. Will go next time to the restaurant.
Authentic Mangalorien Food in Bangalore , Loved Puli muchi & Ghee roast ... Gudbud was a very good stands to the level of Ideals Mangalore....
Very good place for some nice Konkan sea food
Tried their Kaane masala fry and prawn curry
Also tried their shellfish
Overall great place for sea food in Bangalore
Went to this place for lunch the other day. Yummy food and nice ambience. Had never dosas, chicken curry and chapatis to start with. Lovely tasty dishes. Nice prawns curry with plain rice was a good combo. Lovely food. Top it with yum kokum juice.
we were informed that a new coastal restaurant has opened up in JP Nagar. Being a self proclaimed foodie we decided to try it.
The food reminds you of home cooked food. Its a must visit place for all the Kokanki's staying away from South Canara.
we ordered Anjal Masala fry, Neer dosa, Squid sukka,Rice,Prawns Higaudda. All the dish were well prepared with right amount of spices.
Relished Prawns Higaudda, It was just like the way we prepare at home. We were pleasantly greeted by Mrs Jyothi Mallya and guided us through the menu.
My Rating :
Food : 5
Service :4
Ambiance :3
Overall experience : 5
If you love fish dishes then its a must visit place.
Good food! The place will not give good first impressions from outside but the food is really nice..on a Saturday night, half the place was empty and we easily got a table..the staff is friendly but seem a little impatient.. We ordered lady fish, surmai, prawns sukka and prawns fry along with appam and kokam..while the food and service was good, the only little glitch was the price... Though it wasn't too expensive, but 1800 for the place seemed a little high..still a good visit place
Please do visit whenever in Bangalore for authentic Mangalorean cuisine. I would highly recommend all my friends whenever they come to Bangalore to try it out
Another of those seafood restaurants in Bangalore with the konkani cuisine on offer .. The squid ghee roast and chicken sukka are a must try here.. For the veggies there is "potato song" which is an authentic konkani cuisine to be tried.. Overall a nice place with lot of trees around giving that good feel !!
Coastal Mama offers a great combination of tasty food, ambience of a well set shack & overall a good feel. The prices are nothing unusual & well worth for the kind of food they offer. The staff are friendly & service is decent. I personally am a vegetarian & could find limited choices, but food was good. Hot appams are a must have & go well with the ghee fry. The red dotters on our table found the dishes (fish & chicken) to be quite authentic (as in the mangalorean coastal side) & delicious. Was a bit disappointed with the mushroom masala fry but paneer ghee fry was definitely worth the buck. Do try the kokam kadi & gudbud. Overall a great place to hang out with family & friends, set in a casual atmosphere & serving good food. If you are a seafood fan then I'd say this place is definitely worth a visit.
Very nice restaurant. Go here purely for coastal mangalurian food. The ghee roast is simply amazing and so are the fish items. Its also very reasonable. Loved the food. Surely a restaurant that i will visit again.
I have visited this place since it started many times and i must say this is the best seafood cuisine/Konkani food in South Bengaluru... Though all the items are the best here... Main must try items are Bangda Pannaupkari, chicken Ghee roast, chicken Pulimunchi, Chicken Kundapuri & offcourse the drink kokum solkhadi....
Good luck to coastal mama.... Please maintain the same quality always.... cheers
I did not get a chance to visit the restaurant but I have got food from here. I had the prawn curry and the kori roti chicken. The prawn curry was quite nice and I especially loved the chicken gravy ( I don't tend to like chicken gravies).
Felt being blessed after having an awesome dinner here.. Hv tried chicken sukha, Kane masala and tawa fry - mouth watering.. Everything on plate was served quickly nd cooked well.. Everything here is worth the price.. One shud try this place... Plannin to visit everytime I feel like eating coastal food...
Thanks to Zomato for making us find this place...
This is a newly opened coastal restaurant which specializes in Mangalorean Cuisine, located on the JP Nagar 100 feet road. Without any further fuss let me get into the 4 pros & 4 cons about this place: -
Pros: - i) The seafood tried by me till date has been fresh; ii) The preparation is authentic coastal style and the taste is indeed good; iii) The rates are definitely value for money when compared with the quantity on offer (again herein I am comparing with rates at Mahesh Lunch Home, Kudla, Coast to Coast, Uppu Munchi etc.) & iv) My mummy taught me that the best way to identify authentic masala is when you are done with the food and you wash your hands - if the colour remains, it means colouring has been used and the masala is not authentic. Fortunately its not the case here.
Cons: - i) No Parking - you are on a very busy road; ii) Ambiance - for those who believe in aesthetics alongside food, its not the place; iii) The service and the waiters need to be fine tuned a bit - rather they need to get a bit more organized when there are too many customers around & iv) Again a personal one - I would suggest the thalis be available even in the evening.
I would conclude by saying that my first 3 cons are far outweighed by the rates charged.
As the name says cuisine from the coast so u can think of fish......undoubtedly the fish are good and fresh and taste is average but the cost of money is high.... u ll be much happier to buy a fish and fry at home and eat... so when you are visiting just think of visiting once to taste and yes dont forget to ask the price.........😉😉
This place is just a few weeks old and is already grabbing attention for their lip-smacking Manglorean dishes! The Seafood soup and kokam kadi are to die for and I wish I had a larger appetite for the Chicken Ghee Roast which was delicious. Amongst the starters, we've tried Clams Sukka, Chicken Pulimunchi dry, Bangda rava fry, Prawns rava fry which are absolutely first rate. The chicken gassi goes very well with neer dosa and appams. The fish was extremely fresh; the ambience is relaxing, the servers are very polite and attentive and is value for money. Definitely want to revisit!
For fish lovers from Konkan,Mumbai,Goa especially coastal regions, this is your place. Authentic Konkan and Manglorean cuisine which will do full justice to your taste buds. I ordered a masala makeral (bangda), manglorean prawn curry and rice alongwith sol kadi which is the speciality of konkan. This food definately reminds you of home cooked food and for people who miss their homes this is the right place for you :) The ambience is simply awesome gives the authentic Goan beach feel..Its complete value for money and no extra service tax is charged which I feel is rare in Bangalore :(( I just loved this place and will love to go there again.
This new place in town is my new JP nagar stop for coastal food. They serve authentic dishes from the konkan coast , the ghee roast is really awesome and resembles that of the famous shetty lunch home in kundapur to some extent. The appam's are a delight . I had been a regular for lunch and their thali's has a good value for money and the fish thali usually comes with silver fish fries and a medium lady fish masala for Rs.120 . The only down point is the service , which is always slow but the food usually compensates for it.
An authentic Mangalorean cuisine. Tried crab for the first time today. Got some time to get to the flesh after carefully cracking the exoskeleton. We had Anjal among other types of fish which was really well cooked.
Mangalorean cuisine includes neer dosas and appams which are very light and need to be consumed in considerable quantities. Hence the need for these items is very high and the restaurant should definitely find methods to increase its production rate. The service time for these items was slightly delayed.
The ambience is actually quite good for a terrace converted into a restaurant (I like the faucet very much)
Couldn't upload pics of food as I arrived late and it was already portioned.
This section of the ring road is finally getting it's due of good places to eat out. About time, me thinks. What Brewsky does to great beers, Coastal Mama does to fresh-off-the-docks sea food.
What also makes me happy is that we finally are seeing great south-indian-non-vegetarian food rightfully claiming it's place under the sun. And it helps that this place focuses on that amazing cradle of exemplary food... Mangalorean Cuisine. And now, I'm not just talking sea-food, but the great chicken dishes too.
We were here on a weekday evening, and there was only one other occupied table. I would expect that this changes as they get more popular. We started off with Silver Fish Rava Fry, Paneer Ghee Roast, Chicken Pulimunchy dry, Chicken Kabab and baby Corn Rava Fry. All the dishes were served piping hot, and all except the Chicken Kabab were polished off within no time. The Silver Fish and the Pulimunchy were downright the best i've eaten in Bangalore. But special mentions to the Paneer Ghee Roast. Now, the paneer itself was ordinary and seems like it came out of the freezer, but that masala...my god, that masala, Was so frickin' awesome, almost close to what we get in Mangalore :)
For the mains, we had aapams, neer dosas and prawn curry with hing. Was a great way to end, and i loved the simplicity and taste of the prawn curry. Went very well with the breads.
Total damages were 1350 bucks, so I'd say it's in the VFM range. The owners, the kind Mallya family (not related to the Kingfisher chap, i'd presume) were at hand and it was great chatting with Mallya Sr. The service was prompt, but i'm not surprised because the place was practically empty. Wonder how they'd fare when they're crowded. The ambiance is nice. Casual, laid back and comfortable without being overtly showy. It's covered terrace seating, so this season is probably the best time of the year to be there. No bizarre taxes and charges added to your bill, so that definitely a BIG plus!!!
I'm going back, and the next time i'm trying one of their lunch thalis. You should go too.. :)
The best restaurant around Jayanagar\Bannergatta Road \ J P Nagar which caters to authentic "Mangalorean Fish food (Veg and Non veg)", prawn curry - hinga Udda (Prawns with asefotedia flavor) with "Neer Dosa and Appam" is excellent. Anjal masala fry is too good. Apart from Fish dishes Mangalorean Konkani veg dishes like "Dali thoi , Batatasong (Aloo based dish) ,Panner Ghee roast , Mushroom Ghee roast are also available here. The rava fry was not at all oily and children liked it very much. I would recommend this place for all those who love Typical COASTAL Konkani food (Veg and Non Veg). Prices are reasonable and quantity is sufficient. A prawn curry is good enough for 2 adults and 2 Kids (which is sufficient for 2 appams + 6 neer dosa and 1 rice). I would recommend boiled rice (red rice) with fish curry. We also had "Dood Pak" (Milk flavored Kheer) and Ragi manni (Duddali in Konkani). The ambience is pleasant and service is very good and prompt. The owners were kind enough to have a chat with us and explain the process of preparing the curries.
A must place for all the mangalore foodies out there. Great ambience and amazing food especially the sea food and ghee roast. Had a chat with the owner who was very polite and with good hospitality. Definitely will be coming more often.

Now I don't need to visit Mangalore for authentic coastal cuisine. Just like home cooked food at coastal mama. Young entrepreneur Sanjay, with lots of enthusiasm to excel. Fish masala fry is superb. Ambience Ok. Food super tasty.
Wow!!!! One of the best coastal food dining experiences in recent times. The decor gives you a feel of Goa in Bangalore. The food is truly fantastic. The Chicken ghashi and appam followed by Prawns Ghee roast and Kane rawa fried with Dalitoy and rice was heavenly. The dinner was followed by a unique Raagi dessert ... The first time I've eaten something like it ...superb. I will definitely be back. I want to try the rest of the items.
One of the Best places we have visited in recent times in Bangalore for Mangalorean Style food. As the name suggests, the place specialises in seafood . We tried the Prawn Masala Fry , Anjal(Seer fish ) Rava Fry and Kane(Lady Fish) Rava Fry. Each of these dishes were super tasty, the Prawns being my favourite. We even tried the Chicken Ghee Roast and Chicken Sukka, and we're delighted at the authenticity of these dishes . They were absolutely fantastic .
My Mother, being a vegetarian, tried the Dalitoy (Konkani Style Dal) , Batate song ( a potato and onion curry ) and some Cabbage Pakodas, and she was really happy to finally find a nice place in Bangalore serving tasty Konkani food .
To add to the delicious food, this place has a very pleasant ambience. Interiors are tastefully done, keeping the sea food theme in mind . Attention to detail is evident, as the theme extends right through the restaurant, even near the wash basin, where the tranditional tap has been replaced with a beautiful sea shell. The lighting is superb, and sets the perfect mood to enjoy the food .
All in all, this place is a wonderful blend of lip-smacking Mangalorean food and an ambience that transports you right to the shore . A must try if you ask me !!!
Been there on the opening afternoon. We had the chicken ghee roast, fish fry, squid masala and prawn curry with rice. The food was awesome especially the ghee roast. Our little one enjoyed the silver fish fry and pretty much polished off the entire portion on his own. Great value for money as the portions are well sized and prices are pocket friendly.
The ambience is deigned to give one a feel of a sitting in a beach shack. It looks even better in the evening.
Check this place out for a taste of mangalorean konkani food. There are interesting choices for vegetarians as well.
Good ambience, set up, decent staff... However the best thing about this place is it's food... Obviously! Great fish curry and the chicken ghee roast is exquisite! I suggested them to make it boneless. Let's see if they take my feedback. Overall, a very happy tummy and wallet!
Best place for sea food specially mangalorean Konkani food...loved their Bangda Panna upkari, Chicken ghee roast & fish tava Fry.....
Though we have lot of mangalorean place but very less choice for Konkani Food and this restaurant fills the Gap in JP nagar...
Good luck to the restaurant as they just started operation a week back.....serve good food

Super food a must visit
The only drawback is no lift but the food is totally worth the climb
We tried the Clams Sukha, Crab masala, Anjal masala, Prawn fry, Chicken Ghee Roast, Kori roti, Meet Dosa, etc.
Very limited choice for vegetarians but good veg too
Only for food I gave 5 star
If you are looking for good coastal food and really don't care about ambience then this is the place for you
Few items are really cheap , few are expensive.
Overall budget friendly
Must try dish: squid ghee roast + neer dosa..
Ambience 1/5
Service 3/5
Food 5/5
Costa Mama already famous for its food prior to COVID lockdowns are still trying to keep up.
Combos & sanna (Manglorean Idli) was not available on the menu. But had a good range of choice on menu. Tried Chicken Sukka , Squid 🦑 roast , Neer dosa , Bangda Tawa Fry, Carrot halwa
Chicken Sukka was amazing 🤩. I recommend it. Squid was spicy 🌶 and mixed with variety of flavors. But a little too powdered gravy still taste was ok. Bangda Tawa fry the marinate was excellent and well cooked. Carrot halwa good choice to bring the spices to a balance.
Neet dosa with Chicken Sukka is a must try !!!! Consider a small wait for food as fish on menu takes time.
Neat presentation, good polite service, light background music , place was not crowded and seating was spaced well with concerns of COVID care. Overall good , pleasant dining experience.
FOOD was Good service was ok was okay should keep dosas as well for all the day
Nice food, great service. Kid-friendly. They don't serve alcohol. The kokum beverage was too sweet and syrup-y. I would definitely visit again for the seafood platter! Yum!
Located in 2nd floor.seafood lovers will enjoy though chicken mutton items available .Rice combos available only during lunchhrs12noononwards . evening no items like roti, bature etc available.appam ,all fish items especially prawn fry was very nice and tasty. spacious with delicious food.car parking on side road .Due to shortage of staff after corona,Monday closed.open up to 11pm.
Theme is of a coastal side bar as name defines not a bar though. Staff is super friendly, food was awesome. Went for evening snacks so had only French fries and fish rava fry. Staff suggested to have the non alcoholic beer as in pic. It was strawberry flavor and is a must try for them who don't drink alcohol like me. Cost is in budget and good place for visit with friends and family members.
Simple place, no frills, food is super, silver fish, mutton ghee roast, prawn gassi, Appam and neer dosa is what I had, could do with some more, but like I always say, you gotta keep something for the next time as well.
Felt so complete after having this meal, sure visit when in Bangalore.
Quaint place for a down to earth experience. Good food served in good portion sizes make it a must visit. Ambience is casual. The courteous staff and the authentic Mangalorean style food makes it a place I definitely would recommend to sea food lovers.
I had been there for lunch with Family. We had such a good experience overall. Their sea food platter was mouth watering with distinct variety. We wanted to have some Kudla-Mangalore food and weren't disappointed with our choice! Highly recommend for seafood restaurant!!
Very good place for sea food lovers... Though it's just a floor, the ambience in the evening was good.
Quality and Portions are value for money.
Recommended on weekdays as the rush will be less else you may have to wait.
One of the good restaurants to try South Karnataka dishes. There are plenty of options available to try (based on season). I had tried kokum kadi and it was awesome, I loved it. I had a fish meal with chicken kabab. The kabab was very tasty and delicious.
At the end I had mini gadbad which I felt a little costly compared to the price and quantity of the ice cream served.
Ambience - 5
Felt shack side vibes there. Just like a coastal side bar. But no bar though. Full of coastal touches around. Even the wash sink has coastal touch in it😁, as in the posted photo.
Food - 4.5
Mangalore and Konkani style food. There are lot many varieties available. I tried Anjal rava fry, which was good as expected. Opted Neer dosa and fish curry for main course, which I loved the most. Opted based on the suggestions from owner/waiter, based on our taste requirements. Opted soft drinks too. The quantity of drinks served is more here. Non-alcoholic beers are also available here in multiple flavors like strawberry, canberry, orange, etc., The price was reasonable too.

Service is really good. They let you know once in a while how much time it takes. Based on our taste requirements, they will suggest us the food items. Visited this place on Sunday. Crowd is usually high here. But not much of wait required. The seating arrangements are too relaxing with soothing music in the background.
Overall 5 , because I loved the food here especially the coastal vibes✌🏿
Visited first time at this place, very nice ambience, staff r very friendly. Mangalore famous Neerdose with chicken curry woow yummy Tasty. if u looking for Mangalorean style food, I think this will be the right place.
Love love love this place and their rich ghee roast. Interestingly their seafood items are fresh, unlike most places in Bangalore, with amazing flavours. My personal favourite is their prawns ghee roast and Anjal pulimunchi. Team it up with soft neer dosas or appams.
