Good Food. but can still increase on the quality and also can provide quick service . Can improve on the delivery service. The food quality can be improved to provide better experience to the customer
Nearby veg hotel , very decent and clean one. The food here is also tasty and good. Some of the dishes to try,
1. veg biryani
2. idly and vada dip
3. masala dosa
4. pav bhajji
5. panner chilly
Simplest restaurant one would find in Bangalore. A nice place for South Indian dishes.
The desserts are delicious. Suitable place for break fast. Pocket friendly and the ambiance is amazing.
I would recommend all my friend and family to visit this place
Hot food always. We had rave dosa and masala dosa. Great chutney to o go with it. The place is kept clean despite a constant flow of people. Dry avalakki with curd is a specialty available here.
The prices at a Darshini depends on the amount of space they spare and in this place, it is a lot. So could be a bit expensive.
Mango lassi wasn't very sweet, hence liked it.
Decent food for decent price. They have an AC room as well where table service is provided , non AC area is self service. We had idly vada and coffee which was nice
Food was good, packing was excellent but items delivered were wrong. Ordered meals and khara bath. ordered paratha for meals but poori came... just a suggestion to be little more careful next time. Or else low on price and high on taste
Hot hot kulchas and paneer butter masala on a lazy night is just what made me happy. Paneer gravy was so light and creamy perfectly accompanied by kulcha.
Vll surely go for more😍
One of the best veg chains in Bangalore. The quality and taste maintained well , would suggest to maintain / renovate ac service area . Food options are decent, worth for price
The food is good in quality. Taste is average. The ambiance is good. Average cost for two is approx 300 rs. Snacks and full course served here.
Life saver on lazy weekends.. No cooking at home and not hunting for new cusians then this is best place to opt for.. U can go in for breakfast or lunch and dinner.. they have self service counter as well A/C resturant.. Food is normal indian food.. nothing to add as innovation.. but they are best at what they serve in south Indian and Chinese dishes viz Dosa's , Chats, Tawa palav, Triple fried rice, Manchurian s ..
Not at its worst, but there is a lot of scope to improve on their north indian dishes..
Foods are good,Good ambience, value for money is good but restaurant needs to change their tables.. because all tables are shaky, cannot sit more than one person in a table.. the restaurant really needs to work on that point.. otherwise it is good
This is a no risk place. ..you are not in a mood for new stuff and experiment. ...just go to this place the taste is the same for years now. ..good south Indian snacks and meals.... dosa.. idli...rava idli.....poori are really yummy... so not to miss
We all keep searching for some good restaurant in each locality to be able to try different flavour of the food. There are times we find some good ones but then most of the times we end up going to the most common places. Restaurants that have been around for long time and the ones that have multiple branches across the city. And for sure ‘New Shanthi Sagar’ is one such restaurant which you can go for eating some nice South Indian meal. I ended up visiting the place in the morning, when I was hunting for some place for South Indian food.
Ambiance – The place is quite decent with ample seating space. Section to the right side has the sofa and rest of the have one chairs with soft cushion. The billing section is to the left side and the food delivery happens to the other end of the restaurant. Coffee is prepared by a person who has his counter just outside and closer to billing counter. The place looks clean.
Location – Let me start giving direction from Hebbal Flyover. Take the road that heads to airport and then take the road that goes to left side of flyover. Keep driving on the service road until you see a building that has ‘Unilet Mobile’ outlet. Take left turn and drive along. The restaurant is located to the right side. It is quite huge and can’t be missed.
Food – There are few items I tried at this place including – Idli, Vada, Onion Dosa and Kesari Baath.
Idli was done good coz it had the right kind of batter. It was so tempting that even after taking 1 of it with Sambar, I felt like taking more of it. The sambar served along with the idli tasted quite good. The chutney served was also good and not spicy.
Poori+Saagu – The Poori preparation was quite good coz it did not have much oil. The only thing I thought could have been better is the ‘Saagu’.
Onion Dosa prepared was also the typical Karnataka style where the onions pieces were put on the batter after putting it on the tawa. The onions seemed to be fresh and there were no chilli pieces which is good.
Vada – Tasted decent along with the sambar and chutney. The only thing is that it could have been a little crispier.
Kesri Baath – It is sweet that seems to be relatively easy to prepare but not many people get it right. The taste of the item was decent, it had nice dry grapes in it. But maybe I would have wanted some pineapple in it.
Coffee – Bayer’s coffee is served in a glass. The taste was good but yes, they could have added lesser sweet. Ideally you should take coffee, stand outside and sip it.
Overall Experience – It was good experience going to a South Indian darshini restaurant in the area. The taste of most of the items were good. It is surely a place that can be visited along with family for a quick bite anytime needed. My current rating for this place is 3.5/5.
Rating in other departments.
Food – 3.5/5
Service – 3.5/5
Ambiance – 3.5/5
Drinks -3.5/5
Food for 2 will cost anywhere between INR150-250.
Perfect breakfast destination.
Those crunchy vadas and that hot coffee is the perfect way to start the day. That rhymed. It wasn't on purpose.
Typical South Indian hotel ... You will get variety of South Indian and North Indian foods ... N a few Chinese ... Prices are light to the pocket ... Cleanliness is taken care ... We have ordered masala dosa, mangalore buns, Kali dosa n idli vada .. All whr ok
All time favorite...,...,... .. . . . . . . . . . . . . Good food................,....................................,...............................
Only 1 of its kind 3-in-1 (Darshini, Restaurant and Party hall) hotel in Sahakaranagar. They make one of the best pani puri in sahakaranagar 👌
My fellow South Indians, and North Indian friends who like South Indian food, this place is for you..very good taste and hygiene..gotta try the South Indian thaali during lunch hours, I found out for the first time I could get so much for such a good price..my faith in humanity is restored..; )
This place was a saviour to us during our college days. We would land in here every third day ordering dosas mainly. Its a clean place and the service is quick. Mostly crowded.
A good place for all kinds of food included south and north Indian food and also Chinese. The service time is average. The food is yummy. Have been going to this place since years and still have the same affection towards shanti Sagar. Best place to take out family for dinner or lunch. I would recommend others to try as well. The prices are decent as well.
The best place to go when you are hungry.
Try the Mughlai Biryani for a spicy tasty experience.
And the peking noodles, pav bhaji are good over here.
If you want to eat at a legendary South Indian joint - visit here! Will not pinch your pocket at all. Rs 100 for 2.
Oily but good masala dosa with delicious and fresh accompaniments like chutney and sambar. (Take tons of tissues to suck the oil out of the Dosa).
Good filter coffee and fresh fruit juices add to the glamour.
I have had bhel puri here literally a thousand times . the other item that I like here is mushroom masaala .. The prices have steadily increased but are still good.
Chats here r really yummy
Lots of choice
Spacious place in the heart of a busy locality. There r many other hogging spots here but this stands apart from all.
Bit costly yet affordable .
Shanthi Sagar and all other Sagars are the simplest restaurant one would find in Bangalore. I call it the daily restaurant, you can eat here daily and you won't feel bored of it. Its simple food served in simple ways with simple tastes. There is nothing extra ordinary about it and I won't say it s a must try. If you pass by and you are hungry, drop in :)
I was running a few errands... Myself and dad were caught in rains and had to take shelter at shanthisagar sahakarnagar...we normally drink coffee there but this time i was totally hungry and wanted something lot spicy and filling so ordered for nanking noodles, paneer chilly and coffee all of this was under 200 and totally in budget portion size was awesome me and dad shared the chilly and noodles paneer was perfectly spiced and cooked to perfection noodles was awesome it had crunchy veggies and mushroom noodles was cooked to perfection overall loved this simple yet filling treat on a budget...
Stayed in sahakaranagar for some 2 months..I'm a big fan of north Indian food and i found this restaurant the best value for money.very reasonable price and very good food. The ambience of service hall is very nice with some nice classical music playing and the staff is very well behaved. Ordered so many dishes from there and none of them were disappointing.
good place for vegans. well behaved staffs. you can try for sure.
This is a nice place for south Indian dishes. Especially if you are a Dosa fan.. But dont take the courage of ordering north Indian food here. Though not worst, its quite average. i like masala dosa, onion Dosa and all rava dosa series here. Idli, vada are also quite delicious though price is little on the higher side. For south Indian you have self service. The preparation time is pretty quick, though Dosa guy is lazy at times. its a nice place for a typical south breakfast.
You tend to take Bangalore's staple 'Sagars' for granted, after almost a decade of sampling their efficient but everyday wares. One of the most reliable and consistent products of Bangalore, almost like the dabbawallahs of Bombay, one could blindly walk into any 'Sagar' (could be a Shanthi Sagar, Jayanthi Sagar, Mathru Sagar, or so on) and be assured of decent idli-vada, dosas, khara baath, and strong filter kapi! Very rarely do they disappoint, and the pricing is always fantastic value for money.
The reason I review this particular one is because it is quite different from the usual Sagars-- in a good way. Found it on way to Soul Sante, it's off the new Airport Road a little after Columbia Asia hospital. Unlike most Sagars that are standing tables only, or have a claustrophobic "service area" on a mezzanine floor, this one has a large open hall with ample seating. There is also an AC service area on top, but no standing area. Which is great! The food is also quite good, and the coffee was worth going back for repeats.
It is kind of out of the way for most of us, but if you're in the area, it is a great stop for some relaxing repast.
