Its a go to place for all odia people who love authenic odia dishes. Being one of them I decided to visit this place with my family on my brother's birthday.
Pros
Its a heavenly place for non veg lovers.
We had ordered handi mutton, prawn masala and rohu fish curry.
Cons
Little congested
The name of the restaurant is not doing justice to the dish dalma. The taste of Dalma was bland.
Overall experience was good
Heaven for odia people. Proper odia dishes you will get here. Fish thali is heaven here. I loved patra poda chingudi. All time favourite place of mine.
Go here for the taste of authentic home cooked food. Must try pakhala, Patra poda mansha and janhi rai. Dessert loves should definitely try chhenapoda. I am am Odia abd I go there for having odia food but non-odia people will definitely like the simple, non-spicy flavours.
If you are a Odia and craze for odia food then this is a must visit place. It is just normal and also family based restaurant. The price is very pocket friendly according to their food.We ordered Rice,Panner butter Masala and Alo Gobi curry. The dishes were well cooked and so delicious also the service was really good.
If u r an Odia and craves for odia food, this place is a must visit. This is not one of the fancy places, its just normal restaurant to have a decent meal. They serve various Thalis which is very pocket friendly and someone can have day to day basis. My personal fav is “chatu patrapoda” . I had been here multiple times and my father-in-law loves the food they serve.
It's a very decent place with humble and polite staff. The food literally takes you to the kitchens of Odisha coz the non veg is really good. I had ordered for a chicken kassa and rotis and the amount of spices and quantity of the dish had me licking my fingers. On top of that the authentic odia rasagulla 😍😍😍 I wish I could keep that coming on to my plate. A must try place I'd say. I was delighted that the place was open till 2300 on a rainy day as well.
Authentic odia dishes.. Feel like home ambience as.. Service is good.. Lots of odia food variety most exciting thing.. Odia sweets also available.. So you would be happy to have a full meal with deserts😊😊
Just one thing fish items need to be prepared more well like macha bhaja and doi macha and fish should be served fresh. Else this place is great one for odia food
Always my go to destination when I crave for authentic odia food . Please improve the rice kheer that is the only dish till date which sucks .
For a person who is from Odisha, this place’s a relief!! 😌🤤🤤 The food just makes you feel like you are home. I tried the dalma there, which is obviously Odisha’s special dish and it was amazing. 😍 Also, I would recommend to have the chattu poda there. It is one of our special dishes and they make it just wowwww. Ratings-

I regularly eat the mutton kosha /Curry from here. Can highly recommend to someone who's craving the odiya style mangsho kosha. I have eaten at 'Dalma' restaurants in Odisha, and the taste here is the same as you find there. The bamboo mutton is also recommended for the novelty of the dish.
Don't hesitate to head here for some good ol' finger licking odiya food.
Cant express the feeling- the Pokkhal thali was exceptionally good... the only thing I missed was the Bari Chura which was not a part of the thali .. the fries in the meal were nicely done and the chutney was superb... I look forward to coming here again for my summer lunches ..
We went there today. Food was fabulous. It’s easy on your pocket. And you will get some typical Odia food like chicken Patra poda (chicken wrapped in banana leaves and grilled), Panasa katha (raw jack fruit) tarkari (curry). It’s real good.
On the -ve side, service was really slow. One reason is because it’s Sunday and it was completely full. So on a weekend be prepared to wait for at least one hour before being served food. They should increase no. Of chefs and try to pre-prepare some items which are in demand.
Also parking would be a problem.
Finally it’s a basic restaurant serving typical Odia food. Any other option will be limited.
Having said this, I do visit it regularly and will definitely visit again.

Amazing place for Odia food lovers. Humble and very hygienic. Love this place. Hope they'll open more outlets in the city. Made me nostalgic about home food.
After a long time i had proper odia food...Pakhala with fish fry is always my favourite to have... Also tried their dalam which was pretty decent ..
I love there odia style chicken kasa and mutton...
I will always recommend to have prawn dalam for sure which was tasty.
We ended with a bowl of Kheer which reminded of my home.. sweet and tasty..
A big thumps up to the whole team who amazed us with good food and quality and reminded us about our home...
As we were too late and too hungry could able to take pics.. but i will visit again soon to have food here and take some nice pictures too
This is a great place to have odia food that satisfies your taste buds. From the staff to the cosy atmosphere along with good food, Dalma is a highly recommended place. The prices are way reasonable too. Had a great experience here. Will surely visit again.
The name Dalma is one of the well-known mix vegiterian dish of Odisha,Dalma restaurant is the best place to carve out for odia cuisine. If you are from Odisha and away from home and miss to have home food then drop in to Dalma and try out bhola bhekti besar, chicken thali, aloo kalara chips the perfect lunch to be grabbed.
I have been here a multiple times and have also recommended to my bengali and odia friends.. a must visit for all bengali and odia foodies..
If are from Odisha staying in Bangalore then it's a must visit restaurant it's a regional cuisine restaurant, I went with my a friend of mine , we just luved the food n the chicken curry was awesome
Love the food especially Pohala Fish besara, chicken kassa.Friendly staffs and one of the most Hygene restaurant I have ever seen. In love with this place.
The food served was hot,and the prawns were really succelent and aromatic so was the rotisserie everyone loved the food. The spices added were really good and this place is highly recommended.
Best place for Odia folks or anyone who wants to try Odia cuisine. I prefer Veg Thali on a regular basis. Mutton and Prawns are must to be tried. They have a special Non Veg menu in authentic Odia Style. Loved the place.
pure Odisha home made mutton.... it will remember ur mother cooked mutton curry.
The Kassa Mangsa was excellent - and the same goes for chhena poda.... what was a dampener was the chhaka tarkari ... it tasted like jalfrezi
Dalma is a restaurant chain, serving Odia cuisine. It derives its name from a popular odia dish, Dalma, made from dal and vegetables that contains chopped vegetables like green papaya, unripe banana, eggplant, pumpkin, gourd, etc. Odia cuisine is typically less oily and less spicy. Coming to this particular outlet, it carries the theme of Akshay Mohanty, a famous Odia singer. We ordered several dishes such as Dalma, patra poda chicken(exceptional in taste), aloo bhaja, chicken Kassa, Rice, pampad, potala tarakri and Chena Poda. The prices were unbelievably low and the quantity provided was reasonable. The service was quick, in spite of the restaurant being crowded. Would surely recommend all to try Odia Cuisine in Dalma! Bangalore Dalma
#Dalma#Odiacuisne
forgot to put salt in dalma
Taste is just like home made food
ordered fish curry ,it was 😋 .
This is my go to place when I really want to have some proper odia food. Do try the Dahi pakhala meal and Mutton Patara poda and you will also get to hear some good old odia songs which sone pe suhaaga 😊
Ordered kanika and dalma , which is an exquisite cuisine of Odisha. The smell of the sweet rice was mouth -watering and the dalma(mixed veg preparation) of Odisha was quite good.Happy dining all the time!!
Awesome food. I love 😍 this food.
Ambience: One word "Homely". Those classic oriya song/music gets you in the mood of food.
Food: Am pretty sure I ordered literally all the vegetarian dishes in the menu. I won't be able to pen all the dishes i ordered i will just put some star dishes:
Chattu patra poda:
Patra Poda was Smokey full of flavours and gives you a taste of that earthiness of burnt charcoal. It was sublime. Do try it with roti.
Besara:
What to say about this classic oriya dish. It made me feel like I was in puri temple having it in Ananda bajar. It was divine.
Nadia bara tarakari:
I tried this one for the 1st time and I have to say it had a very unique taste. Savoury yet with a tinge of sweetness Nd the coconut gave it a nice tropical feel.
Loved it to bits and pieces..at the end good food brings you a simple on your face and I was blushing all the time I was in there.
Everytime being here , feels back to home. Pure authentic odiya cuisines are available. I almost tried everything in the menu (veg only 😜).
I had besara (👍🏻) , chatu rai (👎🏻), dahi baigana(👍🏻❤️) , chatu patra poda ( i tried this for the first time and i loved it 👍🏻👍🏻) , chena tarkari(👍🏻), nadiya bara tarkari ( 👍🏻) , aloo kalara chips (👍🏻) , kheer(👍🏻). Thats all 🤪🤪
Ambience is not so good but at the end good food is all that matter 😇
had been a regular customer of Dalma. if you know which food to order, den LL definitely enjoy it.
Possibly the one and only place in Bangalore which not only serves good odia food but also provides an overall feel of Odisha. The moment you enter the restaurant you just forget you are in Bangalore. We had ordered chicken thali and jumbo prawn. The food was good and the service was decent too. The ambience was good with odia songs playing in the background.
Its a authentic odia food restaurant. . sply i went for dahi pakhala.. food just good...quality is changed from dalmas other outlate.. i went soo many time to bbsr outlet..i feel too much different between bbsr dalma and bangalore dalma. ...
service is ok..
So much oil in prawn curry.
A little bit more thick gravy will make it much better
It’s been a while that I wanted to visit this restaurant. Over a year to be precise. Thanks to my foodie friends who value their roots around Orissa I finally landed for lunch last Friday.
On the main road of 6th Block dotted with restaurants, you could easily miss this place as you wouldn’t notice the board of the restaurant on the left as you drive/ride focusing on the road (It’s a one way, and more often than not you find people riding against you on the opposite direction!).
Parking shouldn’t be a problem if you are familiar with the area. There is always a spot on one of the byroads.
Once you walk upstairs, a typical simple set of table, chairs makes the ambience. I found them clean and the large windows allows natural light.
I noticed the restaurant was dedicated to the famous Odiya singer Akshay Mohanty. It shows on their walls and the music playing in the background as you enjoy your meal.
We ordered Dalma Special Veg Thali, Mutton Thali, Sada Bhata (Steamed rice), Pohala Machha Besar (Fish curry rich in mustard flavors), Badi Chura (Sun dried/roasted lentil, garlic and chili crumble with fresh onions) and butter milk.
The veg thali was nice and flavorful except the Mix bhaji and greens were both cold and lacked salt. But the Jaggery flavored kheer that came with it was so delicious that I forgot the experience with the bhajis.
The mutton thali was terrific. The Mansa Kassa (mutton curry) by itself was good enough for the meal, but the Dalma (Oriya style Dal) was really nice and Badi Chura added the crunch and made the meal super delicious!
Both the meals were served with a freshly cut vegetables/salad. In all the three dishes I noticed the cucumber, tomato and onions were cut uniformly and each piece was fresh. In my opinion, to accomplish this isn’t easy even for some of the fine dining restaurants. I found this quite impressive!.
The Pohala Machha had very interesting mustard flavored gravy and the fish itself was cooked very well.
The butter milk was just right. Cold, a hint of tang, spice and salt to comfort on a hot afternoon.
The service was good. The restaurant was getting crowded and the staff were attentive. They are polite and courteous.
At rupees 1433 for two mutton meals, a veg meal and a fish meal along with the buttermilk and the sides, I found it absolutely value for money for a restaurant dedicated to a cuisine.
This was one of our very best oriya meals. We ordered full oriya chicken thali which had Rice pakhala too.We were really impressed by the service. The value was very good here overall.
Highly recommended.
Great taste and sufficient quantity! look forward to try other delicacies too
Dalma is a favourite place to visit on the weekend.
But we were disappointed today as there was a long wait.. There was no system to manage the crowd.. No token number was assigned to anyone in the waiting crowd.. if somebody is lucky can occupy a table for his family, that was horrible.
**{[Dalma staff should start calling out the names of the waiting customer n give preference to those who come first. It's a must for DALMA team.. You should not forget Kormangala has many options for us. Respect your customers time...Otherwise YOU might loose your customer base.]}**
Now coming to food review... After long wait when we got the table.. We forgot the waiting time anger.. ;) Patra poda chicken was great.. mati handi mutton kasa was out of the world. pohala macha besara taste was perfect. Chenna tarkari was also lip smacking..
For the quality of food you serve d
Dalma deserves to get 4 stars rating.. but if I have to rate your servicing skills it's 1- 1.5.... After today's experience..
If you want authentic Odia food, try going to this place. Dalma is a very popular Odia food chain in cities like Bhubaneswar, Puri and glad that they operate in Bangalore too. The ambience is decent and depicts the Akshay Mohanty (legendary Odia musician) theme. However the sweets are not that authentic here and someone from Odisha would agree to this. They need to improvise on their sweet meat quality. On an overall scale it is a must go place to taste the unique Odia cuisine.
Crab curry was very very good, very nicely prepared just the way I like my crab curries to be also the dry potato subzi which was nice.
But I wish the crab could have been little fresh. It was smelling old and frozen.
Everything is good... But i didn't get sweet lassi.. Which was complimentary from zomato
Visited for lunch on new year. We knew there would be rush so we booked our table in advance.
We had to wait for some 10 mins and we had our table.
We wanted to have veg thali, but it was over.
So we ordered rice, dalma, kanika/khichidi, tomato chutney, spinach and that days special chatu poda (mushroom with mustard paste was burnt in banana leaf) and in sweets we had Chena podo .
I relished all the dishes and I felt the quantity was less and could have been better.
Taste 3.5/5
Quality 4/5
Value for money 4/5
Ambiance 3.5/5
amazing food and pretty fast service... typical oriya khaiba... loved it. especially their dalma is awesome and i felt the taste of my home at this rest..

Being odia myself, this place tugs a special feeling n taste whenever I visit and get to savour the food that i miss staying away from home
My choice over any other cuisine in this world😅❤
My personal favourite.....Dahi Pakhala, badi chura
The food is good, not exceptional and they are reasonably priced. We ordered fish fry, mutton kasha, badi chura and chena puda. The fish fry was well made and satisfying. Mutton gravy was right, but they could serve better meat. The badi chura was ok. Chena puda was good. Nice, clean and decent place. If ur in the vicinity and have Oriya food cravings u could visit this place. Will visit again and try their other dishes.
Food is very nice. A bit congested place but overall a decent experience. Courteous staff and nice fish. I would recommend for one visit at least.
I always prefer veg thali even the Non veg thali is really good.Kormangala we have multiple options available but I would prefer to come here whenever i feel like having Odiya food.During the day it will be much crowded due to corporate rush ,however around 12.30 to 1 noon would be ideal time to visit .Reasonable pricing .

Being from Odisha and living in Bangalore you can't ask for more.I simply loved this place.Authentic odia food.Starting from famous pakhala to chena poda it has everything.
Visited this place in one Saturday afternoon. Couldn't try the non veg here. Will try it some other day.I ordered one veg thali and my friend ordered a pakhala thali. We were so happy to get all varieties of odia dishes. Our soul was satisfied eating authentic odia food.Mushroom patra poda was like an icing on the cake.
Akshay mohanty songs playing in the background will take you to the old times and make you feel as if you are in the state.
Would love to visit here again.Do not miss this place if you are a true odia cuisine lover.
A yummy destination when you are super hungry and u want to hog food. Their non-vegetarian dishes are out of the world. Had never had tastier mutton than this place in bangalore. Absolute delight...
Pricing is also very reasonable. Keep it up.
Being an Odia, this is my go-to place in Bangalore. No other competition to be seen since the last 3 years.
Almost everything is good. Special mention for the Chingudi Tarkari and Mati Handi Mansa. Must tries.
Dalma is all about food from the state of Orissa.
Its on the 3rd floor of the building; very inconspicuous. Ambience and Service not that great.
The Thali at Lunch is a big draw. Dont order the non veg. They have all fancy names for those (matka this, matka that..... kassa this and that) but many a times found them inadequately boiled and dunked into regular gravy!
Dessert: order "Chenna Poda" the quitessential divinely Oriya cottage cheese pudding. Rice Kheer, Oriya style is worth trying.
Excellent...Being a odia....Any opportunity to eat odia food z a bliss....Thanks a lot Dalma Team,I don't feel away from home...Online delivery is too fastt..
I visit here with my family today to try they are lunch.we reached there about 4.00pm. The lunch section was closed but we had a nice meal here.they changed the menu what we had here before five months. Good food and very good staff. Saga bhaja is one of the best I liked here. Definitely will go there again......... And again.......
The food was good. Portions were a bit on the smaller side, specially rice.
Awesome mutton Kassa.
Very well cooked fish.
Tasty mushroom fry.
Dahi baigan was just awesome.
Aloo kalara chips with Dali and rice , was mind blowing in itself.
Ambience: It is quite decent, nothing so special. Yes, it is clean and spacious.
Food: Bengali / Oriya authentic, food is good. I have tried Fish thali and Mutton thali which was good. Also try Aloo-Karela fried chips (I'm not sure about the exact name) , it was worth trying. And Chena Poda for desert
Service: As for thali, you don't have to wait long, it was served right on time.
Full marks for their mustard gravy fish curry and mutton curry. waiting to try their other dishes like chicken poda, prawn curry and bamboo mutton. i get their fish curry home delivered on weekdays, quite a lifesaver.
Being a odia ..any opportunity to eat odia food is a bliss.. thanks to Dalma team, I don't feel away from home. Friendly staffs and great odia food..
Good place for odia food lovers to relish your taste buds..whenever u feel like having home cooked food...good preparation...bamboo mutton, dalma was good..deserts were also good...ambience can be improved a bit as this place tends to get crowded and people have to wait for their turn..
I was waiting for a long time to give this restaurant a review. Finally, I visited this restaurant for the second time today and here is my review.☺️
I actually want to give a 3.7 overall rating but there's no such option here..so.settling with 4 😎
Food is homely.. Dalma is a chain of restaurants and has won many awards in Odisha. The first time I came here, had ordered bamboo mutton, paratha, rice, Dalma and kheer. Bamboo mutton is actually a long cooking process and takes many hours to complete. Please don't think that they also cook mutton in bamboo. To just give you the bamboo flavor they will cook the mutton inside it for some time.. but it's tasty. Kheer is the traditional Odiya kheer with small grain rice. Very yummy. Dalma is a dish where dal is cooked with vegetables. It was good tastewise but vegetables were very less.
On my second visit, my friend and I ordered mati handi Mutton, chingudi tarakari, chakuli, and Chenna poda.. chakuli is 99% similar to dosa. Have it with a mutton dish and it will be a delight to your taste buds.. 😋 they do not fry prawns so in prawns curry some might not like the hint of raw prawn smell. I love prawns so that's not a problem for me. Price wise quantity of every item is 80% justified. 😄
Do visit with your friends and loved ones and enjoy the relishes of Odiya cuisine..please keep your taste buds open!🤗😉🤤
Had been to this restaurant for lunch. The decor is average. But worth going for their food. Although the quantity is less. The mutton gravy with ghee rice is must try.
Being an Odia, its always a pleasure to visit Dalma, which serves authentic Odia Cuisine.
Being a Vegetarian its always a pain to get good food in a restaurant but my cravings for a homely vegetarian meal is satiated whenever i visit Dalma.
The Thalis are awesome, the starters are awesome, the desserts are the best you can have at any place.
2 complaints -
1. Some items are not available at all times i visited.
2. There is no fingerbowl provided.
However the memories of Odisha and the wonderful food are best brought out whenever i visit this place.
NYC place for Odia cusine , here you can get the typical odial food and cusine and with the best price range. Feel like a home. #best place #bwst Odia food
Love this place specially when i am in the mood of having Mutton and rice. The mutton preparation is full on odia style, which i really love. Being in odisha for a long time ine place which doesn't let me miss odisha in terms of food is Dalma 😊
Great work 👍🏼
Very nice food.. Jus like an authentic odia household 😇 Feels like home away from home 😊😊 Old slow odia songs adds to it. A must-have for non-odias too!!
Food was delicious and the best thing was mutton curry. However I got disappointed with fish fry.
I had Butter milk and that was pretty awesome too but again desserts didn't taste that great.
Overall experience was good, brownie points for service.
Happiness is going to an odia restaurant in Bangalore! We had chicken and crab curry which were just awesome and tasted like home cooked food. And finally I ended my lunch with the famous Odia sweet "Chena poda". Finally got a place to visit whenever I'll miss home cooked food. 😍
Authentic odiya food taste & calm, friendly hospitality . Soothing odiya music is played.. Dessert chenn podha is yum. Will visit soon . 🙂🙂
Good food, tastes homely, only problem is their menu which has only Odia names. They could add the English translations so that others could also understand what the items are. Loved the chena poda dessert. It's milk based and tastes something like creme Brulee.
Food was awesome. We ordered kukuda mansha Kassa and mati kadai Paneer tarkari. We ordered chhena poda for dessert. The staff was very friendly and courteous. The decor could be better. And the menu was in Odia, i mean odia written in English form. That keeps the authenticity alive.
The spices talk on behalf of this 'Odiya' restaurant. This place give you an average restaurant feel as soon as you enter, it gives you a positive vibe, maybe its the colours of the walls or the aroma of the food that comes out of the kitchen. They have a menu card which has Odiya in the back and English in the front, never came across something like this, The ambience is good, the only negative thing that i found was that the ACs dont work even if they are on, plus the body is stuck with tape! But you'll forget about all this once the food comes on your table. The rates are pretty pocket friendly and the staff are friendly and cooperative.
We ordered for Jeera Bhata, Sadha Palau, Mati Handi Paneer Tarkari. The jeera bhata or the jeera rice was good, with the right amount of jeera and ghee with curry leaves and cooked properly. Th Sadha Palau or the pulav was great as well, cooked perfectly and so were the vegetables. Talking about the Mati Handi Paneer Tarkari, the paneer was soft and delightfull, the dish was full of flavours that would bring a smile on your face the first time that take a bite of that paneer. However, one thing that confused us was that, the name of the dish is "'Mati' Handi Paneer Tarkari, the server brought the dish in a mati or a matka, but then he emptied it into a bowl kept on the table; why did he even bring it in a matka when he had to transfer the dish into the bowl? The food, the service and the experience was delightful, i would like to come here again to try the non-veg dishes. I would recommend this place to anyone who is not very familiar with the Odiya dishes, for a change this is a good place to come and taste. I'm sure you won't go back frowning. I would like to give the
Food - 4/5
Ambience - 3/5
Service - 3.5/5
Fantastic place to try some authentic oriya good. Their food was just amazing. Specially the Pohala Maccha (fish in oriya). Really liked their Dalma which is Dal with vegetables into it. Trust me it was really tasty. As I am from Kolkata I found their cuisine to be very similar to Bengali Cuisine. Also if you ever plan to go there do try their sweet called Chena Poda it's really worth trying. Their price is also very pocket friendly and you can try their thali which starts from just rs 100. I highly recommend this place. Do visit and if possible share your experience in the comment section.....😊😊
Went to grab lunch here. The ambience is neat and homely! We ordered the fish curry which was made with mustard paste and tasted good. Then mutton curry which came with 4 pieces and the gravy was tasty. Sweet pulav was nicely made. The best thing for me was their buttermilk which was really good.
The quantity of food is slightly less but for the price they are offering, it's not a bad deal.
So dis is very kind of my taste and place.fish on d frst place was my priority to visit here.to get Dat north Indian ND bong ND odiya taste dalma vil b one of my choices.i felt dey CN increase d quantity a little bit but dats absolutely okay wen u serve a pleasant food!I completely enjoyed having all nonveg food in dalma..Including d spicy butter milk dey made👌.BT dey mst get a check on der AC ND fan...
It was just the day when i craved for some odia food. Since dalma was officially the odia cuisine chain we finally landed here. Ambience is plain and simple, which it should be. Menu card was both inEnglish and oriya which i loved to read after years. So after a lot of thought we order for the first round rice, mansa tarkari, dahi baigana, chingudi tarkari and aloo kalara fry. All items were yummy, had quite a reminiscence taking in the smell and taste of homemade food. No doubt it was good. Service was good. Now for round two again we ordered rice along with chinguri taraki amd now it was time for kukuda mansa tarkari. Although the chicken was good, prawns were not tasty when compared to the first time we had. And to finish it off what better way than to have chenapodo. Perfect meal. Would definitely visit again eyes closed. Thank you for bringing odia food to bangalore☺️.
This outlet is the improvised version of its predecessor (located on intermediate ring road) in many aspects . Better location ( yes indeed , right in front of famous Anand Sweets of Koromangala ), a clean kitchen ( what it looks from outside as it's partly open) , better hygiene ( way better I would say) , service quality improvised ( no laid back attitude) and wait time considerable ( on rush days they almost trying their best, usual days are not all discounting) ,availability ( not 100 % always ) and pricing is very reasonable .
Coming to food, it's absolutely bang on .Take you straight back to the homely Oriya food we couldn't give justice of our own. For vegetarians, veg thali is the best bet( rarely available) alongside Chenna Trakari, Alu Phulkobhi and Chattu (Mushroom) Bhaja will satisfy your taste bud. But an Oriya guy is always a die hard meat lover and their comes Mutton and Chicken Kassa which are always cooked to perfection. Pohola macha ( fish) with mustard gravy a go to dish . Patra Poda Chicken ( Leave burned Chicken) was perfectly marinated and then fired into the banana leave . The rustic feel it leaves on chicken was absolutely incredible. Finally the Prawn Masala, which always taste the same.
If you are really not sure of Ala Carte , go for their thali's for first time . It's quite filling and reasonable too. You would have option to take either roti ( quite homely) or rice, with dalma , salad and required gravy.
But seriously their signature dish "DALMA" is not up to the mark . They keep it more watery due to which the consistency is compromised. Improvised version is expected.
Kheere, chennapoda are the desserts you would like to wrap up with alternates are though just workable.
In weekends be ready to wait for at least 30 mins between 1-3 PM though they don't have enough waiting space and I have seen people returning disappointed, but they can't help much to this concern.
Descent Odia restaurant in The city. If you want to try Odia dishes you can try here.
Recommendation : Chenna(Paneer)Curry, Veg thali.
Ambience : Average.
Service : Slow
Taste : Good
Nothing so great in dishes. If you never tried Odia dishes then you should try here once.
Have been here for quite a few times now. A place that truly satisfies your tastebuds. Must try is the mutton cooked in the bamboo sticks. Mutton thali is extremely delicious. The Thalis have great mix of dishes. Don't leave this place without tasting the Chena pods and the Rosogolla.
In short if you crave for the home cooked mutton curry, this is the place to eat at.
It was good day with my friend when I was search a good restaurant for lunch . Finally found our odia dish hotel . Place was nice and clean . Order veg thali with handi chicken. Test almost good . Compare cost was high but good . ::)
Been many times n certainly love the cuisine as a odia. But mostly some or other thing will be unavailable.
Dalma quality is so poor that a non-odia will never ever want to try it again.
The service and cleanliness can be better.
Love the bamboo mutton.
The best part food do have the authenticity of Odisha.
The taste of Orissa. If you are missing homemade oriya food in Bangalore then it's definitely a good option. We ordered Veg thali (contains rice, dalma, bhaja, saga, alu bharta, tomato khatta, salad, kheeri ) and mutton kasa and rohi macha bhaja. The taste was nice.Staffs were courteous and service was quick with Akshaya Mohanty songs being played at the background ..:)
Must try: chena poda, gulab jamun, mutton tarkari and macha bhaja

I wanted to give 4.5 but becoz of service n mutton tarkari this place deserves 3.5.... service was pathetic.. after 40 mins they served... we ordered bhata, chena tarkari, kalara bhaja, mutton tarkari, fish tarkari, prawn tarkari, liver fry... food was yummm! It was really really good... its a must try place
Been here a couple of times. Hard to find an Odia restaurant in Bangalore. They have a good number of Odiya dishes in their menu. Some of the dishes are pretty authentic. Tried the 'maati handi mutton' - pretty good. Try the set meals also - pocket friendly yet good. Tried their 'dahi maccha' - well prepared. Lassi was so so.. Basic ambience.
Good oriya cuisine that can be enjoyed in the city. Service is also good. Its exactly the food that anyone from Orissa wants to make up for the missing "ghar ka khana". Not very sure if other states people will enjoy it much but my team mates from different states do enjoy the preparation specially the fish.
I had tried first time odiya restaurant.. this seems good place for both veg and non veg. Thali option is also good ... Great food and great restaurant..
Dalma is a Odia cuisine eatery which I wanted to try for a long time. The fish thali tasted really good. The Rohu fish was really tender and well prepared. The Chicken Kasha was another dish which impressed me. The Chenapoda is a must in this restaurant as it was the best of the lot.
Being a citizen of Odisha I was happy to find Odia cuisine in Karnataka.
Food was good, felt like eating at home. My favorite bamboo mutton roast and leaf chicken roast with chattu rai was really great.
I loved it.
Though i am not an Odia, but i love to dine different cuisine. This was my first visit to any Odia restaurant.
First thing i noticed - ambience and i liked it. Photo frames of legendary personalities of Odia Culture-get to know from my odia friend.
Food was good and really liked it. Staff was so humble. Odia people surely visit this place but i would like to suggest others also to give it a try.
If you are an odia, even if you are not! you should definitely not miss out on this restaurant. The food they serve will make you nostalgic as the aroma and smell will take you back to odisha. The mushroom, the potala alu kasha, the handi chicken, dalma are worthy of your taste buds surely!
A long time back promise of taking my odia friend here was finally done. Went to this place on Monday afternoon during office break time. Located at the very prime location as you take right for 6th block, it is a very rare chance that people may miss this place.
There is nothing special about the ambiance. Just a small place though neat with adjoining open kitchen. Staff were courteous and immediately came for the order.
We ordered for plain rice with dahi baingan, rohu fish curry and my favourite mati handi mansha (mutton prepared in earthen pot). Service was fast as all these were served in next 15 minutes.
Dahi baingan was pretty much average and felt the quantity of rice wasn't sufficient ( guess that may differ from person to person). Rohu curry was nice. The fish was fresh and properly fried before put into gravy which was somewhat watery. What I liked was the aloo in it,, made my day!!
Mati handi mansha was bliss to my palette!! Again aloo in it!! It was cooked so well with whiff of garam masala coming on every bite. Pretty awesome!!
Dessert is definitely a requirement so ordered for chena poda which tasted as if prepared a day before as lacked that freshness. But overall a nice meal and final amount came to be 600 so definitely economical. Surely a place to visit.
Looking for authentic odiya food then it is good place to hangout wid friends or family for the same. We tried aaloo kerala fry & mushroom masala in veg which was okay . The best part of this place is its non-veg food . We tried bamboo mutton, prawn masala, lever fry .Among these , prawn masala is awesome . Must try chenna poda "odiya special" in desert. The staffs are nice but the service is bit slow.
This place started as an oriya restaurant, but now a days I can find Malayalais, Bengalis and even kannadigas storming into it on weekends. As far as I am concerned, I usually visit the place on every alternate weekend. Oriya food is amazing, mutton curry, handi mutton(mutton cooked in a pot), Chhena poda (oriya sweet dish, caramelized cottage sweet), Kheer, And yes Dalma (not dal but Dalma). Veg thaali also consists of many dishes like aloo chokha, Badi churra , Karela/Bhindi fry. Food is cheap and costs 700-800 for 2 persons (including soft drinks). Ambience is average.
PS: Dalma in Bangalore & Kolkata are pretty much different than the Dalma in Bhubaneswar. They are far far better.
Food: 4.5/5
Ambience: 3.5/5
Staff :3.5/5
Ah good old authentic Odia food! Makes me nostalgic to no end…
Being an Odia and craving home food is not new to Bangalorean Odias. And there are so few options that we are left longing for more since a long time.
Dalma is one of the pioneers in this case and a really safe and good option.
Whenever I long for some home food, I end up coming here.
Apart from the really good food, another big plus point is its cost effectiveness. When you get Fish Thali for Rs.150 and Chicken Thali for Rs.200, I don’t see any reasons not to swoop in here!
Apart from the thalis, which have the usual Odia fare – white rice, dalma, bhaja (shallow fried veggies), there are a lot of authentic Odia items to try out including badi chura, dahi pakhala, dahi baigana etc.
My rating could seem partial….because it is! ;)
Please do visit the place at least once. It is worth more than one shot for sure.
N.B. Do NOT miss having Chhena Poda before you leave here..
Good authentic Odia cuisine.
Taste: 4.5/5
Service:4/5
Ambiance: 3/5
Went with friends to have 'Pakhala'. It was awesome!
I like this chain of restaurant. Famous for its oriya cuisine. Do order the special veg thali and try out the deserts it is good. ..not too spicy just like ghar ka khana.
dalma is like home, i come here often . i come here when i want a simple ghar wali daal, or when i want bamboo mutton.... or when i want a simple thali consisting everything that i love.
taste is a 4.5 always. i adore chenna poda here, the garam garam baingan bharta, the simple phulka.. evrything!! :)
Dalma serves authentic home style Odia food. Went for lunch and ordered the mutton Thali, was not disappointed. It comes with a delicious mutton curry which isn't overly spiced , aloo bharta, dalma and salad. The dalma could have been a bit better, with more vegetables. However, the taste is quite authentic and homely. You don't feel heavy as the dishes aren't greasy. Also ordered chenna podo, taste was good but not burnt enough compared to the stuff I have had in Odisha. This is a must try for those looking to explore Odia home style food. Would definitely return to try more dishes
One of my favourite place, as it's a complete odiya cuisine, I love all the dishes they prepare, it reminds me my mom's home made food. Must try machha besara, Mati handi mutton n chicken and bamboo chicken
Yes, we Odias eat less spicy and low salt foods and that's the signature taste of real authentic Odia food. Food is delicious.Great hospitality by the waiters.
Recommend - Veg Thali + Some side orders
Food was really tasty, we ordered Prans fry, prans gravy, mutton cossa, mati handi chicken every thing is good especially prans fry and prans curry are awesome!!!!!
Service and Food is awesome here. Typical Odiya food with old Odiya songs what more do u expect from a restaurant which boasts itself for its odiya touch and lives up to the expectations.

It's a awesome place to have Odiya food, as well as having a chit chat with friends.
One must try special fish curry.
It's Kheer and Chhenapodo are the best in sweets items.
Wanted to visit the place from a very long time and finally got the chance to eat.The place is cozy, quiet as not filled with a lot of customers and has an awesome window side table view. The food tastes authentic Oriya no doubt and the the menu does not burn a hole in your pocket. My only complaint is that the services could be improved and the menu could be expanded... Those who still thinking to go, make sure you visit it once at least, you won't be disappointed. Be sure to try the chhena poda( it's a desert).
Had my first meal at Dalma and I couldn't resist writing a review right away! I LOVED the place... simple homely food made and served with love and respect. Since it was my first visit and I'm not from Odisha, I was a little skeptical and doubtful about what to order. The semi-dry alu bhujia/bhaja with rotis seemed to be a safe bet, so I decided to order that. The waiter probably read the confusion on my face and politely suggested me to rather go for the veg thali that would anyways have the alu bhaja and rotis, alongside some other dishes too. I agreed, and it turned out to be a very pleasant and satisfying decision! The veg thali had one serving each of Dalma(which is a mix veg daal), alu bhujia(soft fried alu with masala and onions etc), fried saag, alu-jhinge(ridge gourd) sabzi, alu chokha(mashed potato with spices), cucumber salad, kheer and tangy raw mango chutney. This was served with amazingly soft and hot rotis (fulkas). Since I had asked for rotis earlier, he thought I'll prefer to have rotis instead of rice. So they compensated the rice with rotis. I had planned to have the Dalma with rice, so was was waiting for the rice, when the serving guy told me rice won't be served. When the waiter who took my order got to know this, he agreed to serve me some more rice to taste with the dalma. It was really moved by this humble and polite gesture and my respect for the place went up manifold! I got up from the table satisfied, happy and smiling. Don't remember when was the last time an eatery made me feel this way. The food was really good, simple, tasty and light. And all of this for a surprising 100 rupees! Dalma proved it today that having a full service restaurant at an upscale location does not necessarily be coupled with arrogant behaviour or steep prices! My special regards for the management for such high standards of service and down to earth approach and also for retaining such efficient and friendly staff! Anybody willing to try out a different cuisine, or looking for simple food in a good environment should not miss coming here. Cheers!
I visit this place when ever my cook takes an off...
I knew what to order as I went there with some Oriya friends. The food is simple and tasty. The kitchen is visible from the seating area and you can be assured by the hygiene standards. The aloo Bhajja is something to order with phulkas if you are looking for a homely light meal. Their vegetarian dishes are very tasty as well , but just ask the staff to explain the dishes before you order if you are not familiar with Oriya cuisine.
The staff are friendly and this place a must visit if you appreciate tasty food.
The most authentic Odia food one could ever taste in the city, as the name suggests. Located in a prime location of the city, it calls for amazing time spent with family. The staff should be more trained to handle the orders on crowded days though. Also the price of items is more or less reasonable considering the vicinity of the place to most of the finest restaurants.
Well I took my odishi friend to this place, as I had heard a lot about the odishi cuisine from him. The place is located in 6th block koramangala among the plethora of restaurants on that street. The ambiance of this place is nothing to boast about. The place is small and it can accommodate around 30 people at a time. I was little disappointed with the service as I had to ask for a glass of water several times before getting one although the though food was served within time. I suggest going to this place with an odiya friend otherwise you may have tough time deciding what to order. We ordered Chilli chicken, teh very famous dalma, chicken kassa and pakhala. The food was good and was something new for my taste buds. The desserts were equally good too - rasgulla and Chenna pada. And the best part is that the place does not burn a hole in your pocket.
Certainly a must visit place for every Foodie.

This place happen to be a famous odia cuisine restaurant. Two of my friends took us to dalma for us to taste authentic odia food. Anbience was quite ordinary. We ordered almost everything mentioned in the menu. Special veg thali, dahi bengan, chenna poda, pakhala etc etc. I loved them all :D . I ate some of the dishes I had never heard of. Our tummy was super full and satisfied at the end of the meal :D
Certainly a must try place for every foodie -oriya or not ;)
Good quality of odiya food. I ordered for chingudi tarkari , macha and mati handi mansa it was really tasty and not so spicy just like odiya home made food. But the quantity is very less though. The sweets are good too.. Rosogulla is soft and delicious. Chenna podo is also good.
If you want Oriya cuisine in Bangalore then trust me you are checking the right restaurant. Being away from Odisha for almost 1 year now, I suddenly had that urge to taste some home food. And what better option that going to this place. Must try is Pakhala Thali and Chicken kassa. Was slightly disappointed with Baunsa Poda mutton.
Good food.. Typical odia food.. But felt a touch expensive.. Also the kitchen is next to the restaurant sitting area and semi open.. So sometimes feels awkward... But taste wise really nice place to have odia food.. Must try mutton kassa and bamboo mutton.. For veg ppl must try chenna tarkari
What could satisfy both your taste buds and your unending quest for what to have for lunch on a weekend, it's your home food. Now that we are in bangalore that's not possible, but they get quite close in recreating the odia cuisine for you.
I had pakhala and my friend had special veg thali.
Filling both to stomach and heart.
Ambience :3/5

If you are an odia, you have probably been here, if not don't wait enjoy odia cuisine.
Located on the third level in a building off a busy street in Koramangala, I was happy to see large lit signage to indicate I was in the right place. I visited Dalma after a friend recommended it and despite having no idea what Oriya food was, I thought I'd try something different. The restaurant has a pretty basic setup but is quite clean and when I arrived I was the only person there so had my pick of tables.
I'd done a bit of research on the menu before I went in and had been recommended fish and prawns but was still at a bit of a loss when it came to ordering. Luckily the very nice waiter helped me translate the items to English.
I ended up choosing the Macha Besara (small fish in mustard seed sauce) and Mancha Kassa (goat thick ribs) as well as a rooti (flatbread). I had considered one of the thali meals (includes curry, rice, salad and dalma) but since I didn't want rice or salad I chose otherwise.
My meal didn't take very long to arrive with the Mancha Kassa arriving first with the rooti and a few minutes later, the Macha Besara. Both were quite good sizes for me - there were several chunks of goat and not too fatty and the piece of fish was tender and with not too many bones. The gravy in both was delicious with good flavour without being too rich, although they were a bit salty for me. I liked the basic rooti and finished it quite quickly. I was recommended the Chakuli Pitha, another type of bread made from gram flour and rice flour so I got one. It arrived quickly and (for those who don't know) it's quite spongey and light but a little oily from being fried. Still very delicious and good with the curries. My nice waiter also brought me a little dish of the dalma to try, which is a type of dal with vegetables, which I very much enjoyed.
I thought the prices were quite reasonable and it was tasty, basic food. I couldn't finish it all but I wasn't very hungry to begin with. Very glad I tried and I've heard that the sweets are good there too! They also have daily specials written on a whiteboard and if I had any idea what they were, I might have considered them! I saw a few thali meals go past too and they look very filling and so good value.
The food is one of the most delicious and literally Finger Lickin Good. Must try are the bamboo Mutton and any fish. The parathas are the best tasting in the world.. Just like the way mom makes it :)
A must try for every foodie, Oriya or not. This restaurant deserves 5 stars and more!
Dalma. I think description is not required for Dalma as everyone knows they are best in Bangalore fpr Oriya dishes. Mutton curry and chenapoda. No one can prepare like Dalma in bangalore. Great ambience and delicious authentic oriya food.

Sometimes I feel I am a little biased towards this place because it reminds me of my home. A nostalgic feeling whenever I visit the place. I love the courteous nature of the staff who are very gentle and friendly. It gives a homely feeling the way they attend to you.
Have been to this place many times. Love the food which is simple, tastes just right to the taste buds and pocket friendly.
This outlet is dedicated to one of the famous oriya singer Akhaya Mohanty so you would find his pictures occupying a decent portion of the pale cream coloured walls.
It has a open kitchen kind of view where you can peep in once a while.
I love the authentic oriya cuisines I get to taste here my favourite being mati handi mutton and lassi with those shredded coconut. Also love their thalis which are very filling and reasonably priced.
Overall a good experience :)

Typical Odia food with reasonable price. All Bangalorean, Must visit place to taste Odisha in Bangalore. Awesome Dining Environment with the legend Akshaya Mohanty[(Odia: ଅକ୍ଷୟ ମହାନ୍ତି, also known as "Khoka Bhai") was a singer, songwriter, writer and musician from Odisha, India.]
Very good odisha food, specifically the pokal bhat and the platter of veg items, We loved it...simple taste of odissa and should try the chena pora / pahal rasgulla...there is another place call OM sweet ( ask this resturent only ) where you will get lovely pahal sweets and authentic chena pora...Dalma's service is good and pocket friendly for a sunday simple lunch
Been there recently with friends for a casual dinner get together. Nice Odia food. The ambience is not great. But food is proper odia food. Almost every dish we tried was good.
Kukuda kassa was very similar to what we get in Odisha. Even the fish was properly prepared and was very tasty. Dalma and Chingudi dalma were also very nice.
But very less choices in menu and desserts.
After long time had odiya food ..... I must say the dishes were prepared with utmost care ..... Felt like m in odisha ..... Tried dalma special thali with dahi baigan .....it tasted real good....good job team
its Oriya restaurant, good place to have authentic food of orissa, when i went for lunch, they were not serving any breads, only meals were available. the taste of the food was good. service is good. reasonable prices.
Bin to dalma with my wife. Good place to have
Odiya miles.
I have ordered vegetables pakal thali, vegetables thali and chena poda.
All the dish are good . Special dahi baigan and karela was excellent.
Quick service but if staff communicate slowly it will be good.
If u are an Oriya in Bangalore and crave for authentic odia cuisine then dalma is ur stop over..The decor is simple but the food will definitely take u on a culinary journey to ur motherland...Do try thr chenna tarkari and chenna poda.I was disappointed when they did not have badi chuda one of the top cuisines of Odisha but overall the food was good although no where comparable to the food we get in Odisha back home
Authentic odiya food, well I am not authenticity expert but I liked this place a lot. Being a non-banglorite and away from home, missing good home made food and especially sea food, this hotel was a great find for me.
The place serves 4 different thalis veg, prawn, fish and crab, I have tried all four :) I liked the taste...especially crab thali was awesome... even the sweet dish chena poda (I hope name is right) was great
My recommendation :
For veggies veg thali
And any sea food thali for sea food lovers...
It took us a while to figure this place out even though its situated on one of the busiest lanes of koramangala. We decided to check in here for the curiosity to try odia cuisine. Their menu looked simple and very homely. We decided to go with fish thali and roti curry as another. Very reasonably priced, thali is adequate for two. Dalma or dal is obviously their must try dish. You can have curries with mustard base, sweet and tangy as well. Overall it was a good experience with good food and service. Looks very frivoulous but their ac was not working which i think should be overlooked once you get good food.

I am a fan of Odia food ever since my frequent tours to the coastal state in early 90s and rue the fact that Hyderabad does not have any place serving the awesome food from here. I had heard of Dalma a lot from friends in Bangalore, so this time I made sure that I paid a visit there.
It is a nice clean and cheap place in Koramangala. Service is prompt. We were attended to immediately on reaching and the food did not take much time to arrive.
We had very little hesitation in ordering Maati Handi Mansha (Mutton cooked in a handi) as this is supposed to be a signature dish of this place. The order was Chinguri (Prawn) Kassa and steamed rice as accompaniment.
I was not very happy with the mutton dish. It had too much rich masala and was low on salt. Maybe my expectation of the dish was too high, but the taste was not something to go gaga over. The presentation in the handi was nice though.
The Chinguri Kassa made up for that. Medium sized prawns in a thick onion gravy (see photo) it would go well with both rice and roti. With rice and green chilli it was a nice combo.
There are other interesting stuff on the menu like Pakhala Bhat, Chena Pora and Bamboo Mutton. Noted for future visits.
For more on my food journeys read:
I have been to these place for mor than 20 times and my experience with the food is always good .non veg items are best .as an odia i have a personal connect with the food .matti handi mutton is awesome.chingudi curry is also good, apart from it chicken kassa and mutton kassa is tasty.for sweets i always prefer chena poda . It also gives good thali both for veg and non veg people. Veg people should try the dahi baigan .
the only place for my craving for odia cuisine on any average day .....the thalis are gud especially the dalma ........alwyas liked the kukuda kassa and chingdi dalma was a new addition to my odia cuisine ...ambience is nyc and it feels gud to see everyone around speaking in odia....hav heard a lotss of negative reviews about this place from fellow odia people but till date dis palce has never dissapointed me ........an absolute fan of their chena podas and rasgullas ....keep up the good work in bringing my home near to me .....
Authentic Oriya food, service was okay.
Go for tandoori pamfret if u love sea food.
Food was good with genuine odiya flavour.
Have been twice and liked it.
For someone missing Odia food, Dalma is the place to be. The food does remind you of the quintessential ghar-ka-khana if you're an Odia. The food is tasty and sumptuous. The meals do pack a punch from the variety P.O.V. Absolutely loved the Chhena Poda. The non-veg dishes could manage with a little less oil and the ambience can improve. Only complain - they don't play Akhyay Mohanty songs even though they dedicate their outlet to the legendary singer.
Was really happy to know abt d restaurant.. Went for lunch with my cousins.. V ordered veg thali: enuf for one person.. Alu karela chips were just awsome.. Though i cud nt hav d BADI CHURA for which i was most excited coz f non-availability.. M cutting .5 for dat.. Everythng ws cmpltly authentic n delicious.. Worthy f d price.. Also, I thnk day shud work a bit on der ambience..
Tip: Always order alu karela chips along with the thali.. It adds to the tasteful experience..
NOTE: many dishes like alu dam dahibara, badi chura are not avaialble most of the time.
Really good odiya fish thali. Food was more home like with authentic dal and rohu fish curry. We were four of us and all were happy. We ended our meal with a dessert called chhena podu which was yummy as heaven.
Being an odia,my craving for homely food finally got a satiable solution at "Dalma". Needless to say their veg thali was a treat for a lover of odia food. It had the awesome combo of many veg dishes, payas(kheer),dahi baingan, tomato khata. Prawn curry was prepared in typical odia style an tasted awesome. Sweet dishes like chena poda was adequately sweet and was very much close to original taste. Rasogola was tasty too. Cheers!! Highly recommended if u r a lover of odia cuisine.
Finger licking good ! I am a Bengali and this is the closest I could get to home food. From the dalma to the mutton to the prawns and to the doi begun, everything was lip smacking good. Only bad thing is the portions are not great! But the food is amazing. I almost felt like I was eating at home. Sigh
This place would remind you of 'Ghar Ka Khana', tasty, simple yet elegant dishes though the cuisine is mostly Oriya, you can have a taste of all those dishes that generally you would just make at home. Though I feel ambience can be worked on. Service time is average.
I would consider Dalma as the most hygienic Odia cuisine restaurant in Bangalore.
I would rate
Taste: 9 out of 10
Ambience: 7 out of 10
Service: 8 out of 10
Mutton items are my personal choice in Dalma.
Highly Recommended for homely Odia food.
Food used to be good around a year back. Our recent visit wasn't that great. Mutton dalma was what we ordered. The price and quantity is ok..for some it might be over priced. There was a time when dalma had their own share of loyal customers. Quality of food and service is failing.
My first shot at local odisha cuisine in bangalore and I did not even know what to expect. .. I really liked simplicity of the place and of course the food..it gives a very home cooked meal feel.... the kassa curry was wow.... am I going back.... oh yes. ..
New Dalma is a better Dalma! We had some Pakhala and Chingudi Checcha among other things and left satisfied.
However, I'd like to request the owner to keep the dishes as original as possible. The Baigana Bharata had so much masala in it. Almost tasted like a north Indian curry. Ugh!
I'd still come back though as this is as close as it gets to home food :)

Honestly, i have never been able to give a number to this place in terms of rating... its intriguing what i feel about this place... Personally whenever my friends recommend(after they are thoroughly bored of "restaurant food") , i have never given an initial yes to the place....but surprisingly i have been humbly satisfied after every meal.
I dont compare dalma with wat it is back in odisha ..do that and u can never enjoy a meal .. :D :D i guess a lot f things change when u r catering to a new city so comparing isnt really fair.
The place is pretty simple. Clean, no fuss decor. What i like about it is, u have a view to the kitchen and everytime u see the hot round phulkas being made... it reminds u of home.
The servers are polite courteous and makes u comfortable.. Do ask them for recommendations( worked everytime for us -non veggies) ...
Recommendations are Bamboo Mutton and Mati Handi mansa. Please note that there are other good stuffs too,but im betting my life here with these :D :D :D
I like the alu-patal here. I dont like patal but once i tried ...and it was good..ended up gobbling the patal sooner than alu (alu is my fav vegetable..so yeah it came as a shock to me :D :D).. dahi baingan was thick..although the masala was a little bland but it was okayish...
I have had the thalis- chicken and mutton both and all seemed satisfactory.. nothing out of the ordinary, they serve u in steel plates like the ones at home, and plated very decently like mom would arrange it :)
The amount of rice may be less for many...
Also, if you are going to explore oriya dalma because of the restaturant name- u wud be surprised and dissapointed.. no it doesnt work like that :D :D :D this wont give u authentic dalma from odisha.
The lassi is very flavorful here.... Most of the side items papad, bharta and veg items are very reasonably priced .. The overall experience has always been a good value for money.
Will i come back again? Yes, like always. (for my friends this place is a biggg 4+) But probably when i m out looking for decent meal, or wen im done with many cuisines or bored of "outside food" or when mandi handi kassa haunts me in dreams :D :D :D
Here goes my rating,
Ambiance- 3/5
Food- 3.5/5
Service-4.5/5
VFM-4/5
Of yes, i once left my mobile there... i remembered just when i reached the ground floor...was just about to go up when i saw the server running the stairs so he could give my cell before im out f sight :) .. he could have just given to his manager but he chose to take the stairs and give it to me .. :)
Taste was OK...Being the only Oriya restaurant in Bangalore you can pay a visit to fulfill your tastebuds with the Oriya cuisine....ordered a chicken thalli which was good and a bit less quantity wise ....the one thing which takes the place down is its management which is quite unresponsive ....they make you wait long...otherwise everything is manageable and nice!!!
I am drawn to regional cuisines, and the craving this time saw us ending up at Dalma. Oriya Cuisine is not something which I had indulged in however the name & a new menu appealed to me. Our items to taste included the regular meals including the Mutton Thali, Fish Thali along with something called Veg Pakhala Thali which essentially is cooked rice soaked in water overnight then indulged in with accompaniments which are crunchy & salty. Quite loved the fare, and will drop by may be once in two months.
Authentic Odiya food and a decent ambience. Non-Odiya people will have a bit of difficulty to choose from the menu. Service is great and food tastes just like home.
This is the place if you want to enjoy oriya food to the fullest. It has become a regular place for me when i carve for authentic oriya food. Mutton kassa is a must try . Even the bamboo mutton is good . Definitely worth the money . You have to wait 10-15 minutes if you are going on Sunday.
The place is a no frills outlet which focuses on bringing authentic Oriya cuisine to people. On a Sunday afternoon, there is significant crowd and one might have to wait for 10-15 minutes to get a table. The service is quick, unless you order something which is not core Oriya, like rotis. Rice is the norm here. Thalis are somewhat economic but the portions are small. The Mutton thali is a must try. The prawn curry was good, easy on the taste buds; not too loaded with spices.
Delicious food.proper odiya food.cramps, prawn, mutton all were so good.and at last d kheer nd kalajamun..fr odiya people out der in bglor i guess nothing cn b a better place dan dis
Good place in Bangalore to try out Odiya cuisine. It is light on pocket . Modest sitting arrangement, nothing fancy.
I would suggest the management to add description caption below each dish to help out Non-Odiya customers.
Must try is the Cheena Poda (A sweet dish,Ricota Chesse added with sugar and baked in over). They generally run out of this sweet dish within the first half of the day.Odiya food is high on non-veg food. This place is loved my most of my Bengali friends, who can relate to the style of Odiya cooking.
NON VEG must try- Mutton Kassa, Chicken KassaVEG- Cheena Tarkari (Cheese balls in gravy),Dahi Baigana(Eggplant in curd), Dalma (Vegetables cooked in lentil)Baigana Bharta (Smashed Eggplant with spices) , Nadia Pachedi (Grated coconut in Curd)
Full marks to the courteous staff. I had left my jacket there, I went back to collect it after a month. They had stored my jacket neatly wrapped in a polythene bag :)
Dalmais the only authentic food chain restaurant of eastern India. It cannot be compared with any other chain restaurants. ...Moreover we can get some traditional sweet over there..

Its very difficult to get authentic food. But luckily there are chain resturent like DALMA which makes our taste bud homely. Food with real combination of spices are difficult to get but its surprisingly in DALMA..
After so much deliberation finding a good oriya restaurant in Bangalore, finally landed in this place... The restaurant is pretty easy to locate among the variety of food corners located in that street... The ambience is nice... I ordered puri and chhena tarkari while my friend ordered a special veg meal... The food was served within some minutes... So enjoyed their service... Coming to the food this was a welcome break from the other oriya restaurants in Bangalore in terms of taste and value for money... It was quite near to the original dalma restaurant taste back in Bhubaneswar... The Chhena tarkari was soft and perfectly prepared... In d meal, jahni rai was awesome... The karela chips was something I had after a long time... Had an awesome lunch here... Highly recommended for people who wanna try oriya cuisine...
We chose to have a late Sunday lunch at Dalma. I am a Bong and this was my first time at an Oriya restaurant. We went there with a odiya friend who was a good guide and suggested us dishes, on the condition that she shouldn't be blamed if the food didn't taste good here. The food very good. Chicken kassa was good. The chingi dalma was too rich and oily but tasted good. We had dahi baingan which was awesome and very new to me. We had chenna poda for dessert. Its basically baked curd-cheese or chenna (the same stuff thats used to make rasgullas)
Service is fast than other dalma in koramangla.. Best place to have lunch with your family. This is a purely oriya regional hub. We liked the food very much.
The fried fish and the non-veg Pakhala are really good. Actually there are two Dalmas and they are both rivals. I don't know about the one near Sony signal. I'm talking about the one near Kalyan Mantapa.
Great food and ambiance is great
Dalma is the only Odishan/Oriya restaurant I'm aware of. Though I did spend a couple of months in Bhubaneshwar, back in 2005, I don't think I ever ate at an "authentic" eatery there (sticking largely to the Coffee Day, Baskin Robbins and rolls from myriad OPOLFED kiosks). My familiarity with Oriya cuisine is quite low, so I'll not be able to comment on the authenticity of the food served. Dalma is one of those restaurants (along with Axomi, Zingron, Naga Chef, Bangaliana, Junior Kuppanna and Bangalore Donne Biryani) that make Koramangala such an incredible regional food destination.
The restaurant is in a good location, at the top of the building overlooking a busy street. The interiors are sparse, but functional. The service here is very pleasant. Friendly staff will encourage you to eat some more and the manager will come over to explain the items and tell you about Oriya food.
The food here is really simple and honest. A tasty Dalma, an really scrumptious Mutton Kassa and a decent crab curry (was a special) and steamed rice rounded off our meal here. The mutton wasn't as tender as I'd like it to be, but the taste was perfect and for the price, I cannot complain.
We ended the meal with the best item, the Chhena Poda. This is one thing that you should not miss. All in all, a good restaurant to have on your list.
Fantastic food. Fantastic service. Warm and quiet ambience on a busy street. Go for the Mahurali Besar, Mutton or Chicken in mati handi, Crabs fry, Chhena Tarkari, Nadia Bara Tarkari and Veg Chips. In summers don't forget the Pakhal or soaked rice. Splurge without a bother...the bill will be light!
Remember Oriya food is not Mughlai or Tandoor style. So it's low on oily gooeyness but high on texture, spices and variety of ingredients.
First thing first.. this is the outlet which is opposite to Anand Sweets/ Yana Sizzler.
It is good. The food in menu will not be available always but the ones they display on the board as their specialties for the day have come out good. Specialties however are priced on the higher end. Matti Handi Mutton(specialties) will be priced 250 while the normal one is 150. Quantity is good not less.
Whenever I feel like having normal daily food, i end up going there. Dalma cuisine(Dal with sabji) is however not that good :) Rest is good in taste with little extra oil :)
The other outlet (Zomatodotcom/bangalore/dalma-koramangala) with same name have different owners.
I prefer this outlet than the other one (Zomatodotcom/bangalore/dalma-koramangala).
If you are looking for some place with authentic oriya food at reasonable price, then you are in the right page.
I went there for lunch today, tried the veg thali. I would say after long time, I had tasty oriya food in Bangalore.
Don't get confused with the name and location as there are 2 restaurants with the same name in Koramangla. So, follow the address mentioned carefully. Don't end up in the wrong place and curse me later :) .
Looking forward to visit again and try something from the extensive non-veg spread!!
I am a regular to this place. Mutton is really good here. Staff are courtesious and food is homely. I Go there at least once a week and have suggested this place to many friends and colleagues.
Less quantity and overpriced. Stuff not friendly and average tasting Odiya food. No ambiance whatsoever. Have not visited for a long time and might not go back as well.
Been Passing DALMA for years and finally decided to go in.
Food was good though from my very limited knowledge of bengali and odiya cuisine, i could say it wasn't upto the standards of authenticity ! But nonetheless, quite tasty.
Prices also are very reasonable and on the lower side and the thali is great value for money.
If you do decide to eat here, Don't expect any ambience, it's quite standard.
The staff is very nice and the deserts on the menu such as rasgulla are amazing !
I have been to so many Odia restaurant before, but DALMA is simply awesome.
I went there with my family and we all had a nice evening there.
The food quality was super, Ambience is only a little issue, but if you are getting a food like this in any restaurant the ambience will never matter to you. I ordered a couple of mutton dishes , out of that the Mutton haandi was really super in taste.

Being a die hard Non-Vegetarian I was looking for a Punjabi Dhaba but ended reaching at Dalma inside Kogamangla 6th Block. This outlet is newly opened and the decor was neat enough to grab my attention. It was not at all crowded and got a warm welcome from the serving staffs. Coming to food, We ordered Mansa kaasa, Macha Tarkari, Dalma, Chapati, and some Rotis. The food was good and made me remember of typical Oriya cuisine cooked at home. I got the value for my money. Bill for 3 was around 600. Would like to visit again.. Cheers !!
Zamato please correct ur info guyz, this restaurant is an odia cuisine not bengali.
I absolutely loved the food they served at Dalma. I went there to try some Odhiya cuisine and enjoyed each and every bite! The waiters are very humble and sweet and they treat you with great hospitality. The whole atmosphere is homely as they use steel utensils (kind of what I have seen at home) and serve phulkas exactly the way they should be, hot round and soft! The other food items, Dahi fish and Prawn ghanto was very tasty and nice. No extra spices and no artificial flavors, just good food that makes you feel good. plus the prices are reasonable and don't cut a big hole in your pockets. Do try it out sometime!
Landed here for dinner on my wive's recommendation, its just that she had recommended the other DALMA that she has eaten at. But since it looked a lot tidier and near to our house we decided to try this one out. We were surprised that this was so empty. Anyways we decided to risk it out ... Good that we did.
The food that we ordered was very very homely, sans any artificial stuff (they may be having but it didn't feel so) not very oily. We ordered Veg meals, Mutton Kassa, Chicken Tarkari (some light gravy curry), and chapatti. Everything was excellent other than the fabled Dalma. Yeah Dalma "a very Orissa dish" was not the best that I had. I have tasted better in Odishi in Marathalli road. The Chppathis were fluffy and soft, the curries excellent not the regular that we experience. An Odia friends confirms that its very authentic too. We just loved the whole experience.
The staff was courteous and very nice guy.
Ambiance is good and the whole place is clean.
Food like I mentioned is awesome and very homey. Wish to make this a regular visit place. LOVED IT here.
Very well priced, I mean when was the last time you ate a chapatti for Rs. 5/- The whole food for 2 costed around Rs.450/-
Now the Original "DALMA" is open for all in Bangalore ! It is famous for mouth watering dishes in Odia Cuisine.
Authentic odiya restaurant in Koramangala, their menu is well spread with odia cuisines. Staff is also polite and well behaved! Mutton kasa, Chenna Tarkari, Chungudi besara etc are a must try here!
Went for lunch with friends
Pros:
Pure odia cuisine
Light on stomach
Balanced use of oils
Everything tasted good
Cons:
Quantities good be a little more for 245 rs for a plate
The local Odisha cusines and food in Dalma, Koramangala branch has been tasty as ever. But the interiors and ambience has to be modified. The owner needs to take care of the decaying wall paints, Ceilings , Washrooms, paints, tables and chairs. Frequent change of staff, no supervision by Managers, using an old Dot Matrix printer. Even they couldn't give me a printed Bill. Plz invest money to get back the same image. Don't spoil the name of Dalma and its branches.
The reason people avoid coming here is due to the fact that the new Odisha Hotel in HSR is pulling all the crowd. Plz learn hotel management and how to preserve the culture and local delicacy of Odisha.
Food was nice and service was good. Not a big restaurant. We liked our time here.
3 stars only for the stuffiness in the place due to an open kitchen. Otherwise the taste was simple and value for money. The mutton was juicy and the roti was a good combination with it.
In Mushroom gravy the mustard paste should be cooked more. It tastes raw.
Otherwise The food was good.
This is an excellent odiya restaurant near forum mall. Food quantity is not much and also the price. Hence it makes easy to try different dishes. We tried fish, mutton and chicken with phulka. It was good experience. Overall bill around Rs 850 and 2 people were full till mouth. Taste is good, not much spicy. Very simple and tasteful.
Loved the authentic odia cuisine. The Mutton Kasha was awesome. Also the Patra Poda Mutton was mouth watering. A must visit plave to enjoy odia food. Price is average.
One of the best places to have odia cuisine
Mutton Jhola , Chingudi Patrapoda was 😍😍
We tried veg thali here which was tasty.specially the kheer.
Very good quality Odiya cuisine is available. Odiya cuisine is unlike any other. From the native region Odissa earlier known as Orissa of Eastern India bordering Bay of Bengal it is a coastal paradise and cuisine is full of tasty items of not just non-veg but also numerous veg items which will make people lick their fingers. In non veg the best items are fish, prawns, mutton, crab and chicken and in veg items are plenty. Name any vegetable and that will be there in the menu. Fried, Curry and boiled versions of vegetables make it just right. It can be had with Rice, Phulka and Puri.
The Veg Thali is awesome and so are several of the itemsof the menu. Definitely not to missed at all.
Ambience is good but the food is not upto the mark. You'd get better food in other odia restaurants around the city.
