Nestled in the heart of Jayanagar East, this place has dominated serving excellent food for ages now.
Shahi Paneer, Paneer chilly and Baby corn Manchurian are next level
South Indian dishes too are excellent and chats as well.
Do avoid fried rice
We ordered a takeaway from this place. We ordered rotis, Kaju masala and veg biryani. The Kaju masala was an excellent dish without being overly spicy or oily. The biryani was good too.
This place is also very close to our house and the food is so very good. It is a place that serves all kind of cuisine and whichever cuisine they serve is very good. I love their masala dosa, babycorn manchurian, gobi manchurian, pav bhaji,
Vada and Idli.
Idly Vada with sambar dip is the best. One of the best sambar taste in the city.
A very good fast food offering north, south and Chinese. Good place for a quick grab.
i have my mrng breakfast when i come from night shift, 2 idli 1 vada in sambar plate with one cup cutney will give you enough taste and tummy satisfaction , masala dosa and roti curry is also good here.
Food - 4
Ambiance - 3

This is a restaurant with self service system. Food tastes good. There is nothing to say about ambiance. Service is only upto cooking, and they do it pretty fast enough. Even the price is reasonable. Chats are must try here specially masal puri.
Perfect place for breakfast as it opens early in the morning. Vadas were crispy dipped in sambhar which was delicious. It's famous for crispy masala dosa. Its a self service restaurant, offers Quick service ,prices are reasonable and the place is clean.
One of the best darshinis to have south Indian dishes. Masala dosa and coffee is my favourite. The service is quite fast and the price is reasonable. Worth a visit.

Another Darshini kind of restaurant, which is popular & well known for 5th block & 9th block residents. I have been visiting here from a decade now and the consistency wrt quality & never changed. I love their Chats. Since they serve Karnataka Bhel House stuff! I will recommend all the South Indian Dishes!
One of the best darshini style restaurant by a long shot! Fresh, quick and delicious food even late at night. I love the mushroom manchurian and the palak paneer is to die for. The noodles and fried rice are excellent. The masala dosa is also yummy.
I have visited this place so many times and I love it.
South Indian is good, North Indian too is amazing, Chinese is decent, Chats are the best.
It's pocket friendly with fast service.
As a hardcore Bangalorian it's hard for me to forget the "darshini" culture. We Bangalorians love our darshinis.
This place too, one such fast food joint. And what's not to like, it is situated in a calm and peaceful area, lots of trees around.
It's a fast food restaurant and the service has to be fast..! As it was. I also think the place were pretty clean and hygienic too.
We ordered pav bhaji, idlis and set dosa. I have no complaints about anything. They all did justice and in the end I was a happy satisfied customer. :D
Now! What do I talk about this place?? This place has been my breakfast partner for ages now!! Located in a serene area of jayanagar this place has quite a lot to offer at a very pocket friendly price. The must try dishes here are masala dosa, bonda soup. They have a tie up with Karnataka bhel house which is a legend in itself for masala puri and pani puri!!
Overall this place is very good for a decent breakfast or lunch or dinner!!
I have been a regular visitor since 2007. The fare is standard; comparable to most darshinis in Bengaluru - But I am a big fan of their chats and Ice cream counter
Very krispy and tasty masala dosa & tasty rava dosa and super soft Set Dosa. A paradise for dosa lovers. I've visited this place already twice a week for two years
Pani puri is also very good & tasty :)
Gobi manchurian and coffee on a rainy day is a treat !! Comparitively cleaner too
Manglorean Hotel, with all south Indian foods, u can also get special items like bunss, goli baje, neer dosa.
The juice centre and norrh Indian foods are also good.
Cannot believe i havent written a review on the place where i have eaten the most!
Shanti Upahar! Straight away it brings one thing to mind is the vade sambar! oh that sambar, you would drink it directly if you could! My brother does it now and then!I really cant think one thing that isnt good here! Their north indian dishes are just insane, the mughulai biryani, the handi biryani, the paneer butter masala, anything is just top draw at unimaginable low prices. The number of times i have parceled food from here is just crazy! To add to all of this, they go ahead and tie up with Karnataka Bhel house for chaats!!! :D
It may seem like a fanboy review, but trust me, its just amazing food at incredible prices!
If you are in Jayanagar or anywhere nearby, just go and eat there!
As i stay very close to this restaurant, my breakfast lunch and dinner are from this restaurant on most days. The service is excellent. They are very quick and efficient. However only on weekends the service gets choked. And it doesn't help when one of the servers is rude and back answers.
The breakfast is prepared very fast and you can be on your way in no time. The quality aspect of the food is excellent. The food is always served piping hot. The self service system makes it easy for commuters to finish off their breakfast quickly.
Their north indian preparations are excellent. Kadai Paneer is one of their best Paneer gravy preparations and it is best accompanied with butter naan. Their chinese preparations are pretty good but can be made better. Their preparation of Paneer 65 is remarkable and leaves me craving for more. Do visit if you are in Jayanagar!
Amazing food and the best place to have it in the locality. Anyone living in 4th T Block would have come here. The poori sagu is absolutely delicious! The service is fast and food is served within 5-10 minutes. For people who are used to restaurants only, the service conditions might be a little unhygienic. Overall a fantastic place to have a delicious and quick bite!
Restaurant is good... Mostly crowded... Prices are reasonable... Waiting time is less... Good for South Indian dishes.
Best fast food place in this neighbourhood. The food is 4.0/5. Time taken for preparation is probably 5-10 minutes max. The organisation is brilliant.
This restaurant is located near narayan murthy house ????, where I everyday pass around this restaurant. I found very interesting they had some breakfast combo, which was worth Rs.45
The lunch over here is not that good taste, only roti curry ???? will be yummy, they do serve quick and fast, where the crowd will be much of office employees and students.
Evening they do south indian snacks and north Indian snacks, where outside old guy will be doing pav bhaji with smiling face on him, where he welcome s all the customers with lots of love. This found me something interesting, they do have sitting and standing, where seating is located next bulding.
Weekends evening will be bit crowd ,where they ll issue some token system even for self service and parcel.
Food ???? quality - 4/5
Service - 3.5/5
Cleanliness - 3/5
I swear by this fast food eat-in / to go restaurant. It's one of those barge in - order - pay - stand, eat kinda restaurants that you find all over town, personally I think this one beats em all. I live by the restaurant so for me it's a quick curry to-go place if I'm in the mood for some spicy Indian food.
It's been around for almost a decade and they've been pretty consistent with their quality, taste and hygene, I think the taste has gotten better over the years.
The curries are what I really like. They're simple, no food coloring, no transfats, no floating oils, no bad bunch of stuff, just no nonsense curries.
I like most of what's on their menu (not a fan of South Indian Food though) I recommend the following:
1. Pav Bhaji (Highly recommended)
2. Palak Paneer
3. Kadai Paneer
4. Mushroom Manchurian
5. Masala Puri
6. Schezwan fried rice
7. Roti, Curry
Milk shakes and juice are way over priced and I'd probably go else where for good juice.
-Prices: You could eat all you want (like ALL you want) and it'll cost you under 500 bucks.
-Service: Is quick but it can get really busy in the afternoons and weekend evenings. There's almost always savages fighting their way, cutting lines in order to get receipts and the guy behind the counter doesn't care. It helps if you're frequenting and if they recognize you, they'll get your attention first.
One word for it.......... BEAUTIFUL!!!!
Best for South Indian breakfast. Good food good quality.. all cuisines are reasonably priced.
Found this place by accident.
Run by Udupi owner.
Very clean, Seating and standing arrangements, good vibe, huge menu.
Food is very good here. Loved South and North Indian Thali.
We ordered South Special Thali and North Thali.
I expected Poori with South thali. But if we order South 'Special' Thali, they will replace Poori sabzi with single roti and Veg mix curry.
I was lucky enough because the Veg mix curry they gave was VERY YUMMY!
Also, Rasam , Sambar was very tasty.
North Thali had this Veg curry too. And except Tomato soup, it was tasty.
Filter Coffee is exceptional here.. Dont miss!
Masala Dosa is famous too.
Open Dosa was very thick like pizza base and had no taste.
Must try: South Thali, North Thali, Masala Dosa, Filter Coffee.
Its quite difficult to find place to sit in Peak hours, but you'll get in 10min wait time.
South Spl Thali had : Rice, Rasam, Sambar, Papad, Palya, Chutney, Pickle, Kheer, Curd, One Roti, Mix veg Curry.
North Thali : 2 roti, Mix veg Curry, Dal, Rice bhath, Curd Rice, Tomato Soup, Gulab Jamun.
Do visit New Shanti Sagar place and you wouldn't regret!
Buy anything it's good here. Always crowded!!
Hygiene, Taste, Quantity almost every box ticked ✅. Only con is Roti is mix of maida. Paneer butter masala was very good. North/South meals is worth the price. Also South dishes are good. It's ok to pay bit more here.
Self service, but there are ample tables to sit.
Pure vegetarian 🌿
Food is great and staff strives to provide quick service. We liked their masala dosa, hakka noodles, gobi and babycorn manchurian. However this place is usually very crowded and finding a table to have a sit down meal takes time.
Title: A Vegetarian Delight: Shanti Upahar's Multicuisine Magic
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5)
Review:
Shanti Upahar is a vibrant vegetarian restaurant that caters to a wide range of palates with its diverse menu. Offering a fusion of North Indian, South Indian, Chinese, juices, and chats, this establishment is a delightful haven for vegetarians seeking flavorful and satisfying meals.
The restaurant's ambiance is lively and inviting, with vibrant colors and comfortable seating arrangements. The staff is friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant dining experience from start to finish.
One of the standout features of Shanti Upahar is its extensive menu that spans multiple cuisines. Whether you're in the mood for classic North Indian dishes like butter paneer masala and dal makhani or crave the tangy and spicy flavors of South Indian cuisine such as dosas and idlis, Shanti Upahar has you covered. The chefs skillfully prepare each dish with authentic ingredients and aromatic spices, resulting in a harmonious blend of flavors.
For those looking to explore beyond Indian cuisine, Shanti Upahar also offers a range of Chinese dishes. From stir-fried noodles and Manchurian to crispy vegetable spring rolls, the Chinese menu provides a welcome variety. While the Chinese offerings may not rival dedicated Chinese restaurants, they are a pleasant addition for those seeking a change of taste.
No visit to Shanti Upahar would be complete without sampling their refreshing juices and delightful chats. The juices are freshly prepared, bursting with natural flavors and offering a refreshing respite from the summer heat. The chats, on the other hand, are a treat for the taste buds, with their tangy and savory combinations that leave you wanting more.
In terms of value for money, Shanti Upahar offers reasonably priced dishes, considering the quality and portion sizes. The presentation of the food is pleasing, and the flavors are consistently satisfying. However, the service can be a bit slow during peak hours, so patience is advised.
Overall, Shanti Upahar is a vegetarian restaurant that caters to a diverse range of tastes with its North Indian, South Indian, Chinese, juice, and chat offerings. While the Chinese dishes may not be the highlight, the North and South Indian fare shines with their authentic flavors. Whether you're a vegetarian or simply looking to explore vegetarian cuisine, Shanti Upahar is worth a visit for its delicious food and welcoming atmosphere.
Clean place and good for both South and North Indian food. The place is always full and you might have to be lucky if you intend to sit while eating.
Had a plain dosa and coffee. Dosa was crisp and chutney was tasty (neither spicy nor very bland).
Coffee was freshly filtered and the milk was not thin.
Good place for a quick bite.
Located in the quiet area of Jayanagar 4th T block, this place makes for a quality darshini and goes beyond serving just South Indian fare.
You have all your idli, dosae, upma in the south Indian zone and done very well but if you're looking for something more, then you can savour their North Indian cuisine as well and they do have a wide variety.
They also have chaat in the evenings including fresh fruits juices, icecreams et al.
Go with your family and you can get something for everyone's mood and taste.
They have self service with seating area and the tables are regularly cleaned.
It might get a bit crowded at peak times, esp lunch...so go a bit early or late and you should comfortably be able to get your food to sit down and relish.
Fine prices are in budget prate per person 0-200 , drinking water filter, got and warm, place to dine in and take away option both available, digital UPI order overall experience was fine.
Delicious food. Pocket friendly pricing.
An amazing place for food worth for the price, they give high quantity which definitely fills you!
