Mahalakshmi refreshments is a small, old eatery located close to Anjaneya temple in Mahalakshmi layout. Apparently, Dad used to take us to here a lot when we were in school.

Ambiance:
-Limited seating facility is available.
-One of the very few restaurants that has old Bangalore vibes:)

Service:
Self service- Amount should be paid at the billing counter and food will be ready in
Food:
-Idly: These had the exact taste and size of my home made idlies. I loved the chutney served here and sambar was good too.
-Masala dose: Instead of red chutney, the dosa here is smothered inside with green chutney-> Not bad.
-Coffee: Not sweet at all and pretty strong.
-Goli baje/Mangalore bajji: Served cold. The only dish that was a disappointment.

Conclusion:
Worth a try when in that vicinity and worth the cost as above items costed Rs.89 only.

Very old and small place in the main road of Mahalakshmi layout. This place has been there from the late 80's or early 90's. Ambiance is not that great but all these can be totally ignored in front of taste of food. One of the best dose I have ever eaten in Bangalore, yummy Mangalore bajji and their jamoon is absolutely mouthwatering. So if you love south Indian food it’s one of the must visit hotels around Rajajinagar.

Small joint located near the Hanuman temple in Mahalakshmi layout. This place has been there from the late 80's or early 90's. Tasty and hygienic south indian food is available. Items are priced economically. Can seat around 15-20 people max. Does get crowded early in the mornings!

So this was my staple for every weekend in Bangalore. If one understands the concept of Diner, as glorified by Gilmore Girls, this is the nearest match to a diner in India. Cheap, hygienic, tasty and staple food served as simple as you could imagine. I don't like any other filter coffee now, except here. Try Bada, and filter coffee on an early Saturday morning and you would know your weekend would be just about right. One can start recognising faces of other customers if you follow a routine, which is what a diner is :) But try the filter coffee is you are in the neighborhood.

You get one of the best Masala Dosa in Bangalore just for 33 Rs , packed on a sunday morning with most of the people packing their Dosa and Idli.

The only hotel in Mahalakshmi Layout that serves good food. The hotel is very old. I used to come with my grandpa when i was a kid.
Dont expect much here, but for this vicinity this is the best..
You wont find anything other than typical south Indian. No Chinese or north Indian.. Idli Sambar is must try ( sambar seem to be degraded as per my last visit. Hope its just one odd bad day)

Btw- its not open on Monday's..

Wow.. I was shocked with the simplicity of this amazing old authentic hotel, super cheap food, amazing unbeatable taste, & decent crowd. Mostly the hotel is full of customers, so have to bear with the crowd. Hotel accepts only cash payments, no PayTM, no cards, yet the crowd is bustling for great taste, highly recommended. When compared to Hot Coffee just 10 shops away, I recommend this wholesomely over the acidifiers & taste makers they add at Hot Coffee, which 99% customers don't notice & hence commercial folks prefer Hot Coffee.

One of the oldest eateries in Mahalakshmi Layout, this place is the only hotel in this area which has excellent food for very affordable prices. You get golibaje or Mangalore bajji which is the best in the area. Rave idli and bonda soup is good as a light snack. Masala dosa and open dosa is good for a scrumptious meal. Excellent coffee and tea available too.

Very good coffee and tea, my going time is in the evening. It has still authentic nature of the hotel. On Saturday evening you can go to anjaneya temple and venkateshwara temple after that have some coffee/tea and dosas here and leave. It will be good evening outing with family.

Close to the temple, serve south indian dishes.. Parota curry tasted good and the , also try Jamoon which is big, bold and tastier than most of the hotel's, is served warm. Had one more. Syrup with Jamoon is so perfect. One of the sweet which is not very .sweet Prices are very economical.. Only hotel till date I have seen where the cashier sits in corner of the kitchen, and the serves change back in a plate.. unlike other hotels just throwing back.. Overall great place for a quick food

Very good food. Gets your stomach filled for even a small price at the beginning of the day. Even they are open for quite a good amount of time. Breakfast was available even as late as around 10:30-11:00. Just that they have limited chairs. So, you might have to stand if there is a big crowd. Except this, the experience was good.
