Serves alcohol upto 1 AM.
Love the place. Sushi was really amazing and the Khao suey prawns was delightful. One of my favorite places. Loved the service. This is my third time and ambience was out of the world. Hamid was really good host. Would recommend you guys to try this place out. Thai food meets Japanese. My goodness ❤️ ! I'm blown away !!!
I haven't visited this place, but have ordered their food a lot of times from Zomato . The quantity they deliver is good and so is the taste. Do try the pork dishes that they have, they are mouth watering and delicious.
I would definitely consider ordering more deliveries from this place.
Canton here food is too good , I tried chicken biryani, egg noodles, fish curry with steam rice wow ; still I remember the taste.. excellent service and normal ambience nothing to say about it.. I love the biryani and fish curry 😋 it's located in main road😊 easily we find out this place and love to visit this place again 😚
Visited Canton after a long time, looks like the Management has changed. They have also redone the interiors, IMHO I liked the old world charm of the pre-restored interiors better! With the change in Management and the new Interiors, it made us wonder if the food taste and quality has changed too! But, luckily the food turned out to be just as before, which is great!!! Kudos to the new management for having the retained the old chefs!
We had Sweet Corn Chicken Soup, Chicken Manchurian Dry, Prawn Pepper Dry and Mixed Fried Rice. All of them were super and just like before!
Food: 4/5
Ambience: 3/5
VFM: 4.5/5
Good food in affordable price.
First time am using Zomato bt very satisfied with delivery they made that too in rain...I just lv dis...Taste also good so am very happy....
Location- Located in central Jayanagar, near the 3rd block signal. Not very hard to find with their bright LED board.
Ambience- The restaurant has two floors, the ground floor is small and cozy. The decor is simple and does not have any Chinese feel. The first floor is a little more spacious with tables by the window.
Service- Nothing to mention persay. Staff is friendly.
Food-
Ordered:
Hunan Chicken
Thai Style Pepper Chicken
Chicken Fried Rice
Hunan Chicken and Thai Style Pepper Chicken we're both appetizing and delicious. Good food worth the money. Chicken fried rice too was good and good quantity for two. Date-worthy if you enjoy quiet places and don't mind the decor.
Great place in jayanagar. For a get together with friends and family.. do check them out if your passing by 😎 service at its top class. And fried rice yummy
Great Service and Good/Fresh food. Reasonable prices and good quantity food. Open all days till 1AM. Very hospitable staff and management available at your service.

Nostalgia! - that's the one word I can say about this place..
We used to visit the place during our graduation days as adults ( had visited a few time along with the family when in school)..we immediately fell in love with the simple interiors, stuffy and smoke filled ambience..we used to smell of "canton" whenever we came back after visiting the place...
Nice , chilled beer along with awesome starters were the USP of this place! The waiters were friendly and nice, except their focus was not too much on the work at hand :D.
Best few dishes we have had there (including my non veggie friends) were :
Starters:
1. Chicken Taipei
2. Fish manchurian
3. Spare ribs
4. French fries
5. Drums of heaven
6. mushroom pepper dry
7. Prawn pakoras
8. Prawn chilly.
Main course:
1. Schezwan fried rice (spicy)
2. Hakka noodles
3. Veg steamed rice with white sauce
4. American chopsuey
5. Veg balls in hot garlic sauce
6. Fish in hot garlic sauce.
What we got for free though are shady regular customers, from different strata of the society..doctors, ex service men, realtors, etc :)
For me, Canton is not just a restaurant, but a nostalgia!
Taste: 4/5 (if you like indochinese food with your booze)
Ambience: 5/5 (simple, old skool)- rating is biased due to the nostalgia :)
Vfm: 5/5
jst try spare ribs n pork belly with mixed fried rice.i repetedly go there n reptedly try the same items.very very tasty .nice place.but go with friends nt with family.
Canton has been there in bangalore since time immemorial :) During college days also it was our favorite joint. Recently it has been renovated and now its named "new canton". Quality has gone down a bit but still it retains its place in my heart when I linger for chinese food. I esp like the schezwan fried rice and chilly chicken. Staff is courteous enough and every time I ask them to make it more spicy :) If you like indian chinese make, you must try this place. Since its on a busy road, parking is bit problematic. So you need to park your vehicle nearby to dine here. Also inside is little suffocating, since ventilation is no there. Otherwise, judging on only food perspective, its a nice place to try.
Had been to Canton for dinner yesterday. Though the ambience is a bit of a turn off, the food is quite decent I must say. We had sweet corn chicken soup followed by diced chilly chicken and Shangai fried rice. Food is quite good considering the reasonable price.
It really doesn't matter how a restaurant looks like from the outside or inside, the only thing which matters the most is the Food they serve you. I've been a frequent visitor to this restaurant from the past 10 - 12 years and have been enjoying eating here.
Infact when they closed to renovate, I thought they closed down forever.
I really felt bad that day!
My wife told me that the restaurant is open with a new look very recently, I'm waiting to visit the restaurant very soon!
Good Chinese Food - Canton it is!!
I had been to this place last week it's really nice and cozy. The staff is friendly and is much organised and clean than old Canton Mgt. The food is really tasty and amazing.
They renewed this hotel, we visited on this monday, for get together tried only starters. My freind had pork, and we had chicken manchuri and chicken lollypop. Taste and quantity is sufficient. worth visiting if you love pork.
Always been a special place to me ..I've never been disappointed wid d taste or d service both amazing ..All served excellent food under very reasonable prices fr the quantity ...I've always made it a point to go der atleast once in two weeks ....had been der last week bt to my utter disappointment d place had been shut down fr some reason :( ...I really hope my review makes a difference n dey reopen it again coz its a one if a kind place that u don't come across evrywhr....
Our favorite place for dinner.. We friends relish on the chilli roast pork .. but the sad part is they have shut down at present ... Pls update if they open up ..
Been there multiple times when liquor was servicing. The food and place are descent, Worth trying at least once. BTW there was a guy called Beer Singh, such a nice guy.
Don't judge the place with what it looks like from outside . Enter it for once and you will see a sudden change in ambience . It's like a secluded place which reminds you of the 90s. Brilliant good . The hybrid snacks were amazing . Worth a visit .
I don't know how my earlier review of this place disappeared.
I have been frequenting this place since last 10 years approx.
They used to serve liquor before but now they have closed down their bar.
Their signature dish is Taipai Chicken and Drums of Heaven. The garlic sauce they serve is lip smacking delicious.
I have also had their diced chicken chili/red pepper.
Roast pork with chili is one more delightful item they make.
On a recent visit, we had Lung Fung Soup which is generally bland but very good.
Taipai Chicken is spicy and roasted. It goes well with mostly any rice or noodles.
Tried their Chinese Chopsuey. Lot of veggies and chicken. Healthy stuff.
Staff is courteous and the ambiance is not that great anymore.
Ambiance 2.5/5
Quality 3.5/5
Quanityt 3.5/5
Cost 4/5 INR 500 for 2 people is a good deal.
OVERALL 3.5/5
I decided to try this place out based on the Zomato ratings.. I along with my husband went there on a Saturday evening. The ambience is quite shabby i feel but as I was eager to try out their food I didnt pay much heed to the ambience. The place is pretty popular in the area... We ordered Manchow soup and Drums of heaven. The food came really late.. it took more than 30mins for them to serve. The soup was really good but I expected more flavours in the Drums of heaven. It was good but not the best I had. As we were getting late.. we parceled the main course of Special canton noodles and Chili chicken dry.. Though i didnt like the noodles much.. but the chili chicken had the right taste.. Overall a good place with very laidback service and loads of mosquitoes :(... Will I go back? NO i guess
Ambiance is very nice.
Even service is good.
Food is very nice - one of the best Chinese food you can taste here.
Have tried soups, starters, fried rice and noodles. All good.
I felt price is on a bit higher end.
Parking is a worry.
So another day and another restaurant! Well not just another. This is one that I've frequented a lot over the years. It's very cozily located close to the Jayanagar 3rd Block traffic signal. Somehow I feel that this restaurant has not received the limelight it deserves.
The ambiance of the place is mediocre. Some people may not really appreciate it but trust me its true when I say "Amazing food need not come from a Five-Star kitchen." This is something that can be overlooked for all the other good reasons.
Coming to the food, the menu consists of what you can call Indian-Chinese delicacies. Not exactly the mainstream Chinese food, yet its better than most other choices. We ordered the Egg triple Schezwan fried rice, Schezwan spice noodles and Hot Garlic moo noodles. Along with this, we got the vegetable balls in hot garlic sauce. So all this on the table and 20 mins later, the bowls very empty, stomachs full and minds thoroughly feeling satisfied. Perfect food and taste!! No complaints whatsoever.
Over the years I've also tasted a few other varieties and I can vouch for this place. Its really good.
The waiters are courteous and good. No problems with service as well. No delays or complaints here as well.
As far as the cost is concerned, a meal for three costs Rs. 750 which is so very reasonable knowing that our appetites were full. Perfect again.
Some improvements would be if they could liven up the place better, improve the seating and bring back the experience that was a few years ago. Old timers would realize!
A good place in Jayanagar moving away from the usual darshinis and sagars!
Ambiance - 3.0/5
Food - 4.5/5
Service - 4.0/5
Cost - 4.0/5
A usual hang out after college when Chinese pangs kick in.
Is located in Jayanagar 4th block and has a pan store right next to it to finish off the meal Indian style.
It's fairly priced as compared to Chung wah and mainland China and yes the service is better and the waiters aren't grumpy (as in Chung wah who won't let customers drenched come in).
In fact they took out wet coats and put it out to dry and put the fan off so we can warm up.
The food is delicious and does not make a hole in Ur pocket.
Ordered a chicken manchow soup one by two, one shezwan veg fried rice, and a shezwan chicken noodles and a chicken chilly manchurian.
The food: 8 on 10
The ambience: 7 on 10
Value for money : 8.5 on 10
The service : 9.5 on 10
The manchow soup with the crispness is the best out here. The fried rice was a spicer indo Chinese version of a pulav I have never seen peas in a fried rice, guess it happens only in canton :p
Noodles is good, very very good, a little oily but good.
The Chicken manchurian was spicy and cooked to perfection it's like a burst of flavour in your mouth.
Worth every penny for the service at least.
When I first went in the place looked shady but after I had my first bite my opinion about this place completely changed. The quantity which they serve is pretty good and worth the money you pay for it :)
Brilliant Chinese food.
Don't judge this place by the look of it. Its an old shady restaurant, with dim lighting.
Everything here is a little old school, serving quite possibly one of the best chinese food in Bangalore.
This one's been around for as long as I can remember. One of the first non vegetarian eat-out joints in a (still) predominantly veg loving Jayanagar, Canton is still doing what it does best. Rustle up yummy Chindian food and give you great value for money. Dingy ambience, but not the miserable kinds. Think old school romantic. They used to have a bar, which is now closed down. Not that I cared about the bar much. Why drink booze when you can have manchow soup :)
Coming to the food, it's the staple fare that you see everywhere in the multitude of Chinese Restaurants all around India. It's just that they seem to make it better than most. The Chicken Drums of Heaven are to die for, the Taipei Chicken is pretty cool and the Prawn Chilly is an outright winner (Frozen Prawns, mind you, and they still work magic). The main course is pretty decent, nothing out of the ordinary here. And all of this for a price which is not wallet heavy. :)
Service is not bad. They're not overly friendly, nor are they disinterested. Suits me fine. "Normal" cold water is served in reused Aquafina bottles. Kinda Practical, i thought, considering he takes it out of a fridge just for you.
All in all, this place, for me, is synonymous with Chindian comfort food. And a slice of the old Bangalore i yearn for.
Ambience: 3/5
Service: 3/5
Food: 4/5

Canton has been around for ages now; it’s now a decrepit building from the outside. What must have the go-to bar for neighborhood uncles and college kids seems to be clearly past its prime. I was here only for old times’ sake.
Ambience – More positive and less dingy than the exterior lets on :) Low lighting, checked tablecloth and quite typical for a mid – range Chinese restaurant in the city. MLTR played on softly, I wish they had turned up the volume.
Service – No significant comments, satisfactory
Food – The crispy vegetables was interesting. The veggies were deep fried in a light batter and served with a garlic sauce, both elements could have been hotter. No denying it would make for a great snack for rainy days. The American Chopsuey was a tad too sweet (though we were warned). Otherwise it was pretty standard. I liked that the noodles hadn’t gone soggy. The portion size was comfortably adequate for 2 people.
Price – You can fill your stomach for as less as Rs.150 per head!
Verdict – Maybe Canton still does it for the veteran patrons. Maybe the meat and seafood is pretty special. But for me, I’ve had my Canton fix for now.
Awesome authentic Chinese with 36+ yrs of legacy behind... Don miss
If you go to Canton expecting the Waldorf Astoria's coffee shop, you might be a bit disappointed. But for an exceptional Punjabi-Chinese meal, Canton is better than most. If anyone from Kolkata is missing the Chinese food that you get in the famous Tangda Chinese joints, then here is the place to be (This is perhaps the biggest compliment I can give Canton)
Canton used to have a Bar permit a couple of years ago and I remember the crowd then, being very sidey and predominantly male. Though it had a "Family" section, I wouldn't let my family anywhere within a 100 metres of the place! It had 2 floors and on its best day, it could be termed as dingy. This said, they served kickass Chinese food back in the day!
These days, it would seem nothing has changed - same cutlery, same faces, same grimy walls, same dingy existence - But no Bar! The crowd now, though less than half of what I remember it to be, is a family crowd and their food is as it always was - excellent - especially their soups and their prawn and pork starters and main dishes. Portions of their dishes are small (not the rice and noodles but everything else) but this is good in a way as you can try out more things. One thing you must have though is a lot of patience as this place has always been extremely understaffed. Food takes ages to come - heck even the bill takes ages to come! My rating is based purely on the satisfaction that I got after finishing the meal and paying the bill! I wouldn't however travel from Indiranagar to dine here but I'd surely go if I lived in Jayanagar/JP Nagar.
Had been to this place for dinner... Not a very posh place but the prices are according to facility... Drums of heaven was actually a good choice... Have had only hear... It's something similar to chicken lollipop... Can try when ur broke ????????
Been to this restaurant with a friend as it was recommended by another :-) and we weren't disappointed. Being new to that area, it's not easy to spot amidst all the shops around. It seems like an old place so is the ambience, nothing fancy. So we ordered for the chicken pakoras, taipei chicken and chicken mei foon. So the pakoras were perfectly fried to golden brown and had a nice flavor. Only disadvantage being they do not serve any special sauces to go with it. Nevertheless, they were full of flavor. The taipei chicken was recommended by the waiter. A little too oily, boneless fried chicken tossed in sauce, onion and garlic. The mei foon isnt something that we have ever tried before. Its thin noodles tossed in the regular style that any other noodles/rice would be in.
Service was prompt. Value for money :-) If you are in the mood for some chinese, then a place to eat at in Jayanagar :-D :-D
GUYS!!!! Canton has stopped serving LIQUOR.......I went there last weekend coz I used to love their roast pork, and wanted to have a couple of beers while at it......I was almost to tears when I saw they dont serve liquor ne more...But since the food is also good there I decided at least i will enjoy that. and man did i enjoy it or wht, roast porks for apetizers, mixxed tripple rice with fish in schezwan sauce.....mmmhhhhh...loved it.
People who are planning to hav booze with good food, sorry to disappoint you guys but now CANTON our favorite Chinese shop does not offer alcohol ne more...boo hoo hoooo...but it still is a great place to eat chinese. My bill was around 750 for 2 which is quite decent for ne restaurant in tht area
Good food and service. Drums of heaven and chilli roast pork are simply sublime!!
The one and only authentic cantonese style Chinese restaurant in Bangalore. Owner Mr Thomas Hoe is a true gentleman and the food is super awesome. It is one of my favourite hog spots in jayanagar.
Canton is a legend in jayanagar, at one point the only establishment that served good non vegetarian food in a densely veg dominated restaurant area, because of the awesome food experience they have been running for atleast twenty years that I am aware of, probably thirty.
its a watering hole for the locals and when we go there it sometimes is just for the appetizers, my favorite is the pork belly in schezwan sauce, unfortunately this is really a special as it is not regularly available on the menu and when it is its usually pre ordered for days, consider yourself lucky if you get to have a plate.
the pork ribs in Cantonese sauce is divine too, this is my go to dish if the above is not there.
the drums of heaven and chicken in papad rolls are really good appetizers and a must try if your here for a beer after a hot day.
Ambiance isn't the best but hey when the foods great you don't really mind where you eat it.
The first time i visited this place was in 1999, when i was a fresher in bangalore. Since then, i can proudly say that nothing has changed. Not even the waiters or the other staff!! incredible.
The pork spare ribs are great. So is the roast pork. Plus, they serve alcohol. an average dinner, drinks and starters for 2 costs about 1500 bucks which is incredible ( we do drink quite a bit in that!) . jayanagar, unlike indiranagar or koramanagla lacks too many non veg chinese options and this is a huge change,
Anyone talking about ambience, mosquitoes or poor service should again look at the menu and price. This is pure bang for the buck and nothing else. anyone with more expectations that cheap great food, cost effective liquor shouldn't come here. there are many more fine dining places in the area.
there is a waiter called michael who has been there for 15 years. he loves telling interesting stories about the place. great guy.
Canton is not a "fine-dining" place. So, no point comparing it to other Chinese places in Jayanagar like Sichuan Court or Wang's Kitchen etc. Canton is the proper desi Chinese place.
The restaurant has got an old world feel. You would know what I mean if you had been to such places in the 90s. With the porcelain bowls and plates you are definitely transferred back in time.
The food is delicious! Only people who have a taste for desi Chinese will love it. The Drums of Heaven is an all time favourite. I also tried the Chicken Dragon Roll and Fish Chilli. The quantity is very very generous. While other places give either 6 to 8 pieces, Canton gives you minimum of ten! And with dishes like the Dragon Roll and Drums of Heaven, you get a soup bowl full of Garlic Sauce! Absolutely delicious!
And my other favourite for main course would be the Hot Garlic Noodles. Had with chicken once and with egg the second time. Very tasty. I need to make more trips to this place to try out their curries and other rice/noodles(which I do not mind at all)
The day we went there were lot of families too. Kids, Parents, Grandparents! This I guess is because they do not serve liquor now as well as there is no smoking allowed. And it looked quite popular with all age groups!
Yes, the ambiance isn't too great and the lighting is dim, but to me these are just minor setbacks. The yummy food makes up for all of it! Do visit for the love of Desi Chinese!
I have awesome memories of this place from my bachelor days at Bangalore in early 2000's - drinks and great chinese food - chilli pork, noodles etc... If you are single, and enjoy oriental food over a drink, this is the place in our own sweet homely Jayanagar! Hope this place keeps the same spirit!
Excellent food!!! :) value for money :) nice ambience.. ideal for chinese food anytime :)

This place should be the capital of Bangalore's China Town. I have been to this place more times than Rohit Sharma lifted his bat to Dale Steyn's bowling, but the taste of Drums of Heaven and Cantonese Chicken Fried Rice never gets old. The dim lighted ambiance, the porcelain plates, 3 gold fishes in the tank (which have lived since they opened the place 25 years back, seriously! the fishes are very old), all these things put you in a state of nostalgia. I cross my fingers every time I visit this place and wait for the Chinese mafia to walk down the stairs after their game of Mahjong. An excellent place for a silent dinner with a couple of old pals (even though they stopped serving beer couple of months back). Don't ask your girl to get ready for a date here, you won't be a couple much longer if you did.
Great place, must visit in jayanagar for authentic Chinese and an education on Chinese food.
Have you ever visited the states? if so there is a cuisine nicknamed as the "Cheap Chinese" in a lovable way, because its cheap and its lotsa food, and is chinese.... Ever since I moved back to India I was longing for chinese food which would fulfill my craving for Cheap chinese. This is the first place which reminded me of that taste and made me feel like I don't miss US anymore.Love this place!
A small and nice place. Average ambience , average service , good food. Good pork, not the best I've had. Dragon chop suey was really good. Very filling and good value for money. Lighting is very low and not the best crowd you'd want around u.
I have been looking at this restaurant from a long time ,every time i pass through the main road and wondered how food is at this place. Finally decided to give it a try yesterday. The ambience is more like an old school Bangalore bar from the late eighties but better that how it looks from the outside
Food: We ordered triple rice Schezwan style which was good but didn't have enough salt and we had to send it back,Hot Garlic noodles waa amazing,We ordered something with vegetables with in garlic sauce and the vegetables turned out to be only Capsicum, i ended having mix opinions about the food. THE SERVICE IS BAD.
AMBIENCE: 6/10
FOOD : 6.5/10
SERVICE : 5/10
Have been a regular at Canton since the last 7 years. The pork dishes are awesome, the chilly pork and pork rashers. Also I am a big fan of the Mei Foon they serve there. And the beer is just the perfect accompaniment. People who are worried about the 'no booze' being served off late, well, they will be renewing the license in a few months (asked the management there and confirmed). I have probably tried all the dishes there, and they are all good to great, the momos are a bit of a let down though.
Best chinese food.
Veg pakoda with garlic sauce and shanghai rice with hot balls in garlic sauce-MUST TRY.
Bad ambience though.
I visit this place often with my family..We get the best chinese food here.I loved the pepper pork ,chicken hot & sour soup and chicken wonton soup with noodles these are must try stuffs! food here is damn tasty...its worth visitin this place!
Well Canton is my current favourite vfm Chinese restaurant in south bangalore,
Must haves
Roast pork with chilly (best in town).
Drums of heaven.
Taipei chicken
Hunan chicken + chicken Hakka noodles
Chicken steamed rice
Chicken button mushroom soup
Pork fried rice
Schezwan chicken rice
And many more,
As far as i know they don't serve beef.
Beware of slow service during weekends, as the tables get filled, waiters suffer memory loss, highly disorganised waiting.
It is a must place to visit if you are fond of chinese food and if you do not want to shell out a lot of money. Pork and beef delicasies are its speciality. Vegetarians should not be disheartened as Canton has a variety of dishes to offer. The vegetable clear soup is very relaxing after a busy day. The bar is pretty nice aswell. The service and ambience might not impress if you will be expecting a luxury experience. But, the food is definitely going to make you visit this place again and again.
The price quoted seems a bit higher than the actual damages. Best roast pork in town. Cheap alcohol. Brilliant egg fried rice and hunan chicken. Looking for Indian chinese grub, Canton's where its at.
Great experience
Mr Naveen was great with his responsibility and service
Mr Kiran served and suggested us the best food
Mr Likhit was the best
He got us the food really quick
Great place to hangout with a group. Offers good food and service . There is no parking available around for 4 wheelers as it is a one way and is very difficult to find parking for 2 wheelers as well. The management is good and offers discounts and cashback on faculty billing or errors.. which significantly gains customers trust . Menu offers a variety of dishes and service is pretty quick .
I had wonderful experience with Reynolds music store...100%genuine product with good suggestions by Mr Joe. He is very helpful person with choosing you the best product as per your requirement and within that price range.
Excellent service, good food. Used to be very economical pricing they've increased the prices recently which is why I've given it 4 stars. With the old pricing surely 5 stars
I have to say this , for the price the biriyani was awesome. Try Hyderabadi dum biriyani for those who love spice.
I first visited Canton about 8 years back. Recently me and my husband have rediscovered it. I love their American Chopsuey. Service is good. Prices are reasonable.
This place is soo cool
Especially Roof top
Great food great service
Good staff
Small, not very well known place In Jayanagar. A little stuffy inside. The serve good Chinese and staff are responsive. Even returned a friend's wallet when he left it behind.
One of the oldest Chinese restaurant in and around Jayanagar area. Good n tasty food, service is slow, bar available. Nice place to visit once in a way. I love this place.
Nice ambience and good food. Authentic dishes are available besides Indian Chinese cuisines. In drinks must try the forbidden kingdom.
