I have tried their mini meals and it is quite sufficient for 1 person with alot of varieties. I like the bath. Good place, nice ambience. Family crowd
Mavalli Tiffin centre, we have tried their mini tiffin combo and masala dosa, Mini tiffin combo gets a 5/5 mark from my end, it has chow chow bath, vada sambar, bisi belle bath , masala dosa and a mini cup of filtered coffee , great place to visit and get appetised. We have ordered the butter masala dosa as well, Dosa batter can be more better. Great ambience and service, Keep doing the best !!!
The best place for a foodie to have their breakfast 😍
Great place to have South Indian dishes. Location is easily accessible. Decent ambience. Quality and taste of the food was good. Filter coffee needs to be specially appreciated as it was authentic. Service was also good.
Legendary food joint. We ordered masala dosa and chow chow bath. Dosa was too crispy and loaded with ghee and chow chow bath was tasty.
This place serve authentic south indian food for breakfast , lunch and dinner.
You will required advance booking for any meal because this place remain always full .
They serve delicious siuth indian food must try their special thali in which they serves variety of south indian food. Also try filter coffee.
Had breakfast from here after years, word of warning it's not very cheap or reasonable almost 100 bucks for a Dosa, it was delicious but let's face it, it's pretty expensive. Ordered the masala Dosa, idly and karabath. The Dosa was delicious and the chutney was very good. The Sambar isn't as sweet as I'd hoped like other places where it's spicy and a bit sweet. It was at best OK. Idly was soft.
The dosa and the rice idlis were very very tasty. Just loved the crowd and ambience.
Ordered Masala dosa and onion rava dosa...
Masala dosa was awesome.. just loved it..
Onion rava was ok.. not that good..
Authentic taste of Karnataka tiffin
Tasty benne dosa&masala dosa
Authentic south indian... one of the places which defines Bangalore. There is no second thoughts about the food taste. With many outlets being started, it is more convenient for people across the city to go whenever they want ..
Today I had been there.. I ordered special meals... It was just amazing the way they served us the food...really should go for these kind of places... It was clean and hygienic...
I visited the well known MTR brand’s outlet in Kalyan Nagar. This place is a small and simple establishment. We tried the button idlis, rava dosa, and poori bhaji. Everything tasted delicious and the sambar was excellent. To top it off, each dish came with a side serving of ghee. Since I visited them on a Saturday, I couldn’t try out their famous dessert Chandrahara but I’ll sure return for that and a good cup of coffee.
Very good food, service , ambience and price. Perfect combo of all these. Items are limited and are available only time to time. weekends lunch only meals which is a bit sad for ala carte folks like me. best time to visit is breakfast
The place delivers what promised..good vegetarian food at reasonable price..
The food is freshly cooked and gives a home made kind of feeling..the vegetables were fresh and tasted good.. we tried the mini meals and south Indian thali which was very flavourful and we enjoyed eating what was served.
The waiters we're prompt and knew what they are serving. The ambience was basic and clean
Food-4/5, ambience -3/5, service-4/5
We visit the place regularly because their thali is so good. The place is clean and for is hot. Love the sambhar.
Have not tried a lot of variety here but what ever we ate was worth going back for.
Dropped in to try authentic south Indian food. Tried the mini meal with both dosa and puri. Prices are drop dead cheap. The sabjis tasted almost same but I liked them. The sada ghee dosa was different from the regular dosas but I liked the taste. Had a green chilli filing inside. The payasam was something I can omit from having.
Heard a lot about this place, so decided to visit. Sunday morning we went. It was a long queue outside waiting, but well managed.Coming to food tried rava idli, masala dosa, plain dosa, vada, kesari bath. All were good. Loved rava idli and kesari bath.Quick service.
Must visit, landmark when it comes to vegetarian south Indian cuisine. Good quality food. But am not satisfied with the taste as compare to other same type of restaurant. Prices are too high compare to taste.. Tx !!
MTR!! This is one of the most famous places known for its delicious masala dosa. MTR is an absolutely good place for breakfast.
They serve one of the best masala dosas in Bangalore. I also really liked rava idli and Khara bath in MTR.

Happy that MTR has opened in Kalyan Nagar.
We were the first customers in the morning to enter the legendary MTR as we reached before 7. And to our delight we were more then pleased with what we had ordered. I wouldnt be wrong if I say that I had the best dosa ever. The best part has to be the pure desi ghee being served in a small steel bowl with Dosa , Idli or Vada.
Its been long time that i have visited MTR ( my past MTR visit was on 2015 in Indra Nagar ) nothing has changed since then the taste is still the same . I just Tried out there Rava Idli , Rava masala dosa , Bisi bele bath and badam halwa. Every thing i ate was finger licking good it was so yum . I missed this the last time when i just had a thali so check out there breakfast items as well they are wort it and tasty too .
So we went here on a Sunday morning and I must say it was pretty crowded,we had to wait around 15 min for a table. We ordered masala Dosa, rava idlis, curd vada, plain dosas typical south Indian items. And our order arrived in 5 min or so.It tasted pretty decent and we also ordered 2 coffees which wasn't up to the mark it was too watery. Coming to the cost it's slightly overpriced. But you can visit one in a while.Good experience, service was good.
A good vegetarian restaurant, I ate the mini breakfast combo at 143 plus taxes. Idly, 1 mini vada, 1 mini masala wheat dosa, 1 upma mini, and 1 Kesari baat mini, with tea/ coffee. Overall, very filling and nice.
Heard so much about MTR and it’s popularity across the city so had to visit at least once. Went for lunch a few days back and the experience was pretty good. We went around 2 that’s why only the set thali meals were available. The food service was quite good and the value for money was really good. Various different items were served starting from chutneys, veggie stews, salads and to go along with them dosas were served too. Rice and other condiments were also served along with raita, sambar and rasam.
The taste for most items were really good with the exception of one or two. Kudos to the place for the badam halwa as that one stood out for the entire meal! Surely worth another visit as there’s plenty more items to choose from other than just Thalis and do recommend people who wanna try out! 🤙🏽

Ordered for:
Chandra Hara:This sweet had a little bit of camphor smell and the sweet was too sweet and if you eat a lot of that you won't really love it.
Badam halwa:
Badam halwa was really good and had Kesar on it.
MTR was missing in this part of Bangalore and finally with the opening of this branch I don't have to travel far for a yummy masala dosa! Try anything from here, it is delicious. Their masala dosa, rave idli come with a separate small bowl of ghee for extra taste. Pongal, bisi bele bath are also fabulous. If you have an appetite for it, their weekend noon unlimited meals is just perfect for vegetarians. These guys know how to turn a simple cabbage into a tasty yummy side dish. Their special sweet Chandrahara which is available only on Sundays is must try. The staff is polite and courteous.
As usual, the legendary MTR delivers to perfection. A slight control on price would be nice. Pricey.. U can pay a bit extra for the brand... But u end up paying a bit more than that ..
Excellent South Indian breakfast- idli, vada and dosa. The quality, standard and consistency astonishes me. Would definitely go back for breakfast.
Go on weekends for special thali. Decent food for decent price. It has stuff kids and older people can eat as well. Did not try a la carte, cannot comment on that.
While the good food at this restaurant makes us visit them regularly, but what's making write this review is the awesome special meals they serve. From puri-sag to masala dosa, from yummy Bessebele Bhaat to gheerice-rasam, every dish was exceptional.
The food here is very fresh and tasty. The quantity of the dishes are also pretty good. Ambience is simple and calm. The bisi bele bath was very fresh and the Benne masala was crispy. The coffee is a must try.
Located near to famous breweries like float and wanderers ,this south indian cuisine restaurant exhibits perfect contrast by holding the Baton of tradition .
The restaurant is more like lunch home where one can expect thaalis , lunch boxes curated according to time ,i.e , breakfast ,lunch and dinner . The food they provide is just mind-blowing ,somehow giving perfect south indian taste and sense to food .
From dosas to idli to Vadas- the combo makes sure it is hunger quenching ,satiating and affordable .
mOre could be done related to service !

One of the iconic south indian restaurant serving awesome masala dosa and rava idli. That is how I would like summarise it.
Details soon.
The place has its own legacy. I tried the famous masala dosa and it was different than the usual dosa at other places. It was filling and delicious. It has got various sweets, mixtures too along with the entire menu of south indian snacks. The price is bit high but worth it considering the age old legacy and the consistent taste they have been maintaining.
Almost as good as the Lalbagh branch near my home! Weekend breakfast and lunch time gets very crowded and you may have to share tables with other families 😀😀. Their masala dosa, bisibele bhath, mysore buns and upmas are out of the world. The service is extra quick!!
MTR is an integral part of gastronomic experience of every Bangalorian. Am a regular customer since childhood. I frequented the main MTR outlet on Mission road. Now about the food- pick any item, over a period of time, every dish has retained the flavour. Have tried almost every items on the menu-my fav: Kharabath with thick Chutney, Kesaribath, Dose and Rave Idli. These items are best any time of the day and year. Have tried Lunch several times. Gives a great intro to the culinary culture of Karnataka. Must Try. Sweets: Badam Halva is great. Chandrahara(only on Sunday) is the signature dish. Coffee served here is 100% coffee. One cuppa is all you need to retain the flavour for several hours. A must try for everyone. Go there and Enjoy Madi.
We have come here thrice to have the afternoon thali. So, Sunday afternoons they serve only South Indian thali (12:30 to 3:30 pm). Skip breakfast if you want to throughly enjoy this amazing unlimited meal as it's totally worth it. You might have to wait for a while for the table as they don't take reservations.
Food - The meal starts with grape juice followed by kosambri (sprouts), dry vegetable curry, Saagu (vegetable gravy), Chutney and Payasam as the sides. First dish is the masala dose - filled with red chutney, potato curry and Butterrr! Next comes Puris which tastes amazing with the Saagu. Then is the legendary Bisi Bele Bhat which is served with raita (curd mixed with onion and cucumber). Followed by vegetable Pulav, sambar rice, rasam rice and curd rice. Between those dishes, they also serve papad, Bhajji, another sweet and some pickle. The meal ends with pan which helps in digestion.
Service - Very cordial and every dish is asked twice. You might have to be fast in eating as the service is quick. However if you missed an item or need a second serving they get it immediately.
Price - 250 per person which is very good for both the quality and quantity of food.
After long waiting to visit MTR, I visited MTR finally and enjoyed their delicious served breakfast. We ordered Mangalore bun, masala dosa and filter coffee. Manglire bun was perfect. The dip they served with it was mind blowing . I guess it was made with raw mango . Filter coffee was very strong and Soo refreshing. Will visit soon .
I had special meals here. The restaurant is known for its south Indian dishes. The bisibelebath was good. Must visit restaurant for south food.

One of my favourite places in Kalyan Nagar to have breakfast. Dosas are crispy and tastefully. Pongal is really light on palette yet fulfilling stomach. My favourite is Neer dosa. Chutneys are also good.
Sundays are jam packed for breakfast yet the quality of food never gets low. The only issue I have is with the plates they use to serve food. Often times I have found the plates to be dirty or with too many scratches. But other than that the place is fairly neat.
An excellent place for vegetarian food... Love their neer dosa and kesari bath. While weekends are busy, the wait time is worth it. My only concern is that the Coffee was lukewarm a couple of times.
If you want to try South Indian dish it's one of the best place. All dishes are prepared in pure ghee. Bisibele bath is one of the must try here.
Great place for south indian food. Liked it a lot. Friendly staff and food quantity is awesome. Like to visit again and again. Comparable to MTR lalbag
Food is what you'd expect from MTR. Crowd is less, which is a plus point. Loved the rava masala dosa and coffee. The ghee they serve is just like what you get at home.
The place is one of legacy restaurants of Bangalore.
The original one being near Lal Bagh.
Although I found this place a much better one, reaaon being crowd was not much and didn't had to wait for more than 5 minutes.
This place had limited breakfast options and hence all things were readily available.
The food was quite good and service was fast too.
Filter Coffee, dosa are the best things to have here. Must try.
Its in prime location and easy to reach too.
Had been to MTR kalyan nagar, Best food here .. we ordered Masala Dosa & Ragi Idly... its superb in taste & quality... service is also good😎MTR Food is always nice & good ... 😊
Holding up to its name, MTR is a really good place. As we were first one to arrive, we had whole place to ourselves. And you can smell the food being prepared. The delicious sambar's smell was mouth watering.
The food was really really good. Be it dosa or vada or lassi. Must visit place in Kalyan Nagar.
Both my wife and I love the iconic crispy masala dosas in this place. The dosas are amazingly crispy yet soft. Another dish to die for is the badam halwa. We always order badam halwa for our daughter and we elders end up eating more.
One of the popular food joints among vegetarians in bangalore, been for lunch on a sunday and was not given option but to choose full special meals
Ambience- the place has pictures all over describing their rich long history since their incepiton and how rava idli was invented accidentally during WW-2 and how they got to serve many political luminaries.
The place is very clean, the staff are always on their toes to clean things in a flash of time
Food-
the special meals had it all , from masala dosa , puri, different dals and curries.
The taste seems bland for a hard core non vegetarian but it definitely introduces you to authentic bangalore food if you are a traveller
Service-had to wait for 30 mins even after the opening hours as the staff were not ready :-(
Parking- ample of space in the cellar
Value for money-i feel the place is hyped alot and hence priced high but considering the hygience and quality its worth it.
Masala dosa and bisi belle bath is a must try when you first MTR. The taste of Badam halwa too is also out of the world. If you want to taste all the variety in one just go for a mini meal combo which is shown in the picture.
Authenticity is maintained to a certain extent in this branch. Service and ambience is big plus . I savoured the bisibelebath and upma both were finger licking good . Something’s new was their Kajur halwa,a substitute to their trademark badam halwa, which was equally tasty . It was a great experience overalls.
Loved the food , the masala dosa was very dilecious, coffee was jus awesome to put it in a nutshell it was amazing breakfast , thank you MTR
The place I have visited countless times and it never fails to satisfy your taste buds!! I have tried all their dishes and my favorite one is Masala dosa ofcourse!!
An iconic restaurant. The thatte idly served here is the best that i have ever tasted . I also like the set dosa here a lot. Very nice place for great south indian food.
Pleasant place and food you eat will love you back. Delicious but yet traditional food. More importantly, value for money. Nice people and its pride of Bengaluru
Like all the other MTRs in town, the food quality and taste is consistent with what one has come to expect from this legendary brand.
What sets this particular branch apart is that we now have an MTR this part of town. The nearest one otherwise was in Indiranagar. And at most times you will be seated and served with little or no wait time. The absence of queues and the associated stress also seems to have a positive impact on the staff here as I've experienced rather cheerful and pleasant service each time I've been here. Parking can be an issue if you are driving here, better to try and find a spot in one of the bylanes.
We were a group of 10 people including 4 kids, we went in and had a table ready in a few mins. It was a Saturday evening and they still had enough space for us and it was our first time at an MTR, we ordered most of the stuff in menu and we started getting them in a few mins. We luved each and every dish. The Karabath was the star, awesome Kesaribath and coffee. The much raved Masaladosa was nothing less worthy of all the good reviews. The waiter was very sweet, understood my broken Kannada and was patient with us and kept bringing us food. The ambiance was neat, and food was nice, and we will visit it again at every chance. Thank you!
simple crisp n clear feeling hungry went for breakfast ordered mini Tiffin box everything was yummy value for money good quality fresh South Indian food loved it ...
iconic restaurant now in our neighborhood. expect a wait on weekends. service is with a smile. tried their masala dosa with curd vada and coffee. as expected.
excellent place for typical south Indian food. it's hygeine and spacious also. better to visit on weekdays, especially if you are looking for lunch option.
this is one of the best breakfast places with good, quick service. We tried almost everything off their breakfast menu including masala dosa, neer dosa, bisibili bhath, kesari bhath, idli, vada sambar etc etc and must not forget, our staple filter coffee. The ambience is like one of those filter coffee places where people quickly come in, grab a table, finish their meal and exit.. this place is a legacy when it comes to serving breakfast and evening tea menu... it's easy on the pockets and the food is sumptuous.
ambience: 3/5
service: 4.5/5
food: 5/5
Good place. The standard MTR experience. Tasty food. Right on the Kalyan Nagar Main Road. Dose is great. Vade too. And how can I forget the coffee!
I always feel the best MATT is near Lalbagh. This place has pretty good ambience for breakfast types. You will have to wait to get in if it's weekend. Go there to savour authentic masala dosa and Idli. Do not forget to have "Chandrahaara" sweet. ,It's delicious. Service can be better.
Love this place for an early morning Sunday South Indian feast. Feels a lot like home with their piping hot dosas served with ghee n belly filling special thali. Rava idli is my absolute favourite.
This is a branch epic MTR in South Bangalore (Lal Bagh). Visited there for dinner. Tried White Upma, Kaara Bath, Rava Masala Dosa, Dum Root Halwa, Kesari Baath, Bisibele Bath, Poori, Podi Masala Dosa, Thatte Idli and ended it up a filter coffee. (ok. Went there as a big gang 😃). There was a limited menu for dinner. Ex: Plain Idli and Vada aren't there.
Coming to the taste and quality of the food I loved Podi Masala Dosa. A must try here. Rava Masala wasn't What it typically should be. Shouldn't have used Podi in Rava Dosa. Dum Root Halwa too wasn't that great. It was too dry. Bisibele Bath, white upma were awesome. Surprisingly filter coffee too wasn't upto the mark. Could hardly get the taste of decoction. Ghee is liberally used where it should be. Service is very quick. Cards accepted. No valet. Sathya Pratap
Awesome place to visit for authentic South Indian food. They make dosa in ghee. Good serving options with sambhar. Try their rava onion dosa, upma and filter coffee.
The thali is simply delicious. We were sceptical if this place would live up to the legendary outlet in Jayanagar, but it truly did! The puri-sagu combo was delectable, and so was the fruit-salad + ice cream combo we ended the meal with.
The taste was good but I guess the evening menu looked much better. Hygiene is maintained well, dining tables are clean and spacious, hand wash and bathrooms are clean as well. Staffs are polite, serving was quick and neat.Parking is limited here.Food taste & quality is awesome. Best place & food for veggies
Overall its a good place if you want to try authentic South Indian vegetarian dishes. They serve very simplistic but delicious foods, specially you love ghee.
Ambience - I will give 4/5, I felt it can be made more heritage kind of look from inside.
Food variety - You will get decent of options to eat. I will rate 5/5
Food taste - Taste is also very good. 5/5
Service - Service was also good. 5/5
You can go with friends or family and enjoy authentic taste. You will love it.
We finally decided to visit MTR after reading so many great reviews. We came on Sunday morning so I was expecting it to be crowded but we did not have to wait to get seated. We ordered vada idli, masala dosa, wheat dosa and filter coffee. The idli and dosa were good but not exceptional. Masala dosa is one of the best I have had so far in bangalore. You can make out the quality of batter from the first bite. Wheat dosa I understand has been added to offer a healthy option in the menu but I did not like the taste and will not recommend it. Coffee was good but a bit too strong for my taste.
Authentic Karnataka dishes, tasty and quick service. We visited for dinner and it wasn’t that crowded. Taste was too good. It’s pricey but there is no compromise on taste. Neat ambience.
My mom loved the Ragi Dosa, really nice breakfast options and very reasonable pricing. I personally had the masala dosa which was yum and very filling. My husband also enjoyed his filter coffee and we all enjoyed our breakfast
Loved their thali meal.
It was one of the best meals I've had in a very long time..
The best in thali was their drink which was fresh grape juice and their badam halwa was just worth all the drool.
Will definitely be visiting again.
MTR 1924 on Kammanahalli road offers a truly delectable experience for lunch enthusiasts. It is know for the finest traditional Karnataka Cuisine, very special to Bengaluru region like Masala Dose, Bisi Bele Bath, Halpeda (Milk) and MTR's very own Fruity Fusion - read the story behind this delicacy from the attached pics with this write up. Serving delightful blend of simple food, an unlimited lunch option one can savor authentic dishes. This places offers a memorable relaxed dining experience to families. Do not miss the chance to indulge in the flavour of Karnataka here.
Perfect place to have a weekend breakfast. Their tiffin combo covers every south indian breakfast delights with their Vada being the best - crispy on the outside and soft as a cake inside.
Hi...went on sunday on Aug for the thali at MTR 1924. The thali starts at about 1230 pm. There is usually a large crowd outside waiting and they start the thali in shifts.
The thali is unlimited except for the grape juice and dessert.
It starts with puri, sabzi, then to masala Dosa, then to pulav, then bisi bele bath, then holige, then rice, then curd rice, then ice cream.
So quite a satisfying meal.
Per head is Rs 340 inclusive of tax
The restaurant area is quite spacious.
The food at MTR is made with fresh, high-quality ingredients and cooked to perfection. The rava idli is light and fluffy, the masala dosa is crispy and flavorful, and the chandrahara is a delicious and decadent dish of rice, lentils, and vegetables.
In addition to its tiffin dishes, MTR also serves a variety of other South Indian dishes, such as bisibele bhath, kharabhath, and kesaribath. The restaurant also has a wide selection of sweets and snacks, such as fruit mixture and pure filter coffee.
The service at MTR is efficient and friendly. The staff is always happy to help you choose the perfect dish and answer any questions you may have.
The atmosphere at MTR is simple and unassuming. The restaurants are typically small and crowded, but the atmosphere is always lively and welcoming.
Overall, I would highly recommend MTR to anyone visiting Bangalore. The food is delicious, the service is friendly, and the atmosphere is lively. Just be prepared for a crowded restaurant, especially during peak hours.
