Went here for a late night dinner. The food was amazingly tasty. We started with a Mutton Paya Soup Full portion. It was well balanced. I have had mutton Paya from many restaurants in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad and from Pakistani restaurants in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and UAE. This was the best one I've ever had. We then ordered Ghee Rice, Mutton Gurda (Kidney), Mutton Bheja Fry and Mutton Pepper fry. The food was amazingly tasty. The portion sizes were huge. The salonas (gravies) supplied were also really tasty. Service was good, though we had to wait a few minutes for the food to arrive. Don't expect fine dining experience. You will enjoy the food.
The M u t t o n B i r y a n i here is one of the best in Bangalore. Brain Dry, Mutton Chops are the other delicacies here which never fail and are a must have.
The Biryani portion is quite generous with 2 big pieces of mutton. This Biryani is not made of Basmati Rice but the short grain variety.
Have been a regular here since early 2000 and the taste is pretty consistent.

It is nice hotel in Shivaji Nagar. We (7 members )went in the morning at 4:30 am. We had very nice food. Lemon Chicken was very tasty in this hotel. We also had Ghee rice, Jeera Rice too. I liked ghee rice. It was very tasty and it was like home made like my mom used to prepare for me. It was very nice experience visiting there.
This restaurant was one of the only open places at 4 in the morning. We had some ghee rice, Paratha and curry along with Chicken Kabab. It was extremely filling and very delicious. The ambience is also good and the service was amazing.
This place serves best quality of food I took ghee rice and tandoori chicken parcel for 10ppl the price was bit high on the side when I receive the parcel it was heavy in bags and when I took it to home the food was more in quantity which can serve to 15 ppl.
The taste was so good and the quality of rice and aroma of ghee rice was melting me down and tandoori chicken was tender and we'll cooked.
This place always busy at anything you go.
But one thing have noticed that outsiders and bikers are always blocking your way at restaurant outside and inside..

Had a great meal at Hilal (Russell Market) with their lovely crispy KP, the green sherwa, and a single mutton "sukki" Phaal. Satisfying, sinful and oh so delicious đđ
I've been here multiple times over decades, the food is always good, the KP always excellent and the green gravy a great flavor.
Due to the location, it's not a conventional place to visit with friends or family. But value for money non veg food (chicken and mutton only).
We are on a short trip to Bangalore and as usual trying some or other local foods everyday. So today we went to Shivajinagar, as recommended by a friend, and was amazed and surprised to have such tasty food at New Hilal. The irani paratha was soft inside crisp outside, the hyderabadi chicken was just awesome lipsmacking. And the mutton biriyani ........ flavourful rice and very soft juicy piece of mutton.
The restaurant has two floors. We were sitting at 1st floor, it is air-conditioned. Very pocket friendly.

Restaurant is situated at heart of Shivajinagar. Very well noticeable. The entire area is waved with Aroma of mughlai preparation coming from all the nearby shops/restaurant.
Excellent food. Asked for Irani Porata and Chicken Hyderabadi. Porata was so soft and tongue smoothing; beyond any expression. Chicken preparation comes with medium sized pieces with thick gravy well decored with dry red chillies. Could not afford to leave any traces of gravy behind. đ . Ended dinner in high note with a dish of much talked about Mutton Biryani. Well balanced taste with full of flavour and fragrance. Very much recommended.

Wow... Wow... Wow... For every meat lover, we went there on Sunday evening and with purpose of trying out Iftar special, and we were amazed to the core.
Amazing taste, rustic charm, quick service. The only drawback was the cleanliness of the place, but considering the location and turnaround time of guests, it was obvious that ppl were there for food and only food.
We sat near the window on first floor and enjoyed the great view of Iftar market below with food.
Must Try : Daal Gosht... This simple mutton dish blown us away.

An all time favourite late nights, early morning joint. Located in ShivajiNagar, opposite Beef market. They location and tue ambience is run down, but availability of food at 4AM in morning and rock bottom prices make up for it. My favourites are brain curry, ghee rice-kebabs and mutton methi. Non vegetarian gets a preference. I have been a regular since last 10+ years.
One of the best foods I have tasted in my life. 4am in the morning I went to this restaurant and had amazing food. Mutton paya ( soup) is to die for. The taste of the food was amazing so early in the morning as they do not compromise on taste. Methi chicken was good also service was good.
While hail from the North, my experience of a take-away food from Hilal was good.
That mughlai taste of chicken Afghani was fantastic so far (since Bangalore doesnât have common greatness in Mughlai food like my home town Delhi).
We were drawn to Hilal restaurant in search of Chicken biryani as it was much hyped. Biryani was a little disappointment but Butter naan with Chicken Afghani is something you should try.
Kababs smell great (didnât order those the first time) and the ambience of this restaurant is a lot to remind you of the restaurants at Jama Masjid.
All in all, Iâm going again.
Hilal restaurants in shivajinagar is one the best for food in late nights. We went to the restaurant at 2 in night it was jam packed. No tables are free. We guys love the restaurant from more than 5years. We make time to visit often. When we r hungry in late night for non veg we visit Hilal restaurants. So we ordered rumali roti, bheja fry, mutton chops, mutton gravy, jeera rice. We love bheja fry n mutton dishes. The mutton are so very soft it's easy to chew. We love bheja fry with rumali roti it's yummy n tasty. Please try to visit this place in late night for best non veg food.
This is the place which i've been visiting since the 90's. I have tried in most of the places in bangalore. To be frank, shivajinagar is the only place which provides satisfaction to your tummy. Although the place looks really messy, i really dont care. Its the food calls out to me. Its just the normal biriyani which is served here and thats what is lip smacking. Along with the biriyani, the ghee rice, kababs, is all worth the money. I have stopped dining out in other places of bangalore as they are all just non veg pulav's in the name of biriyani. I always take parcel from here. I never had any issues with the food here neither makes me feel very heavy
I love shivajinagar, as my growning up days were in and around this place and i love the food around this place. Pure non vegetarians paradise.

Started eating from this place when it was just hilal restaurant, located just opposite to the Shivaji Nagar beef market. This place stands tall on every hungry late nights. The place is now revamped, new amenities and A/C etc. And the name has been changed by adding 'New' and making it The new hilal. Their Irani Kabab is my first love. Methi chicken is one of the favorite. There is a staff named Suresh Ettan. This guy is a legend because he is in this restaurant from the last 21 years and having served may be entire Bangaloreans. This would make more sense to those who know him and the restaurant. He served us food when the demonetization happened and we were so hungry, We were left with No money and there was no functioning ATM. Â A step closer to mankind. Salute...

If the location doesn't matter, Hilal will truly satisfy your taste buds. Been visiting this place for over 10 years and it has never disappointed me. Some people say you cannot go with family but I think otherwise. I've taken my family with kids many times (though the first time my wife was hesitant) but now it's the preferred place for soul satisfying night meal. Try the Ceylon parota, ghee rice, butter chicken, sheekh, bheja fry and methi mutton curry.
Shivaji nagar is the heaven for foodies during ramdan period , i didnt tried Hilal restaurant on Ramadan tym, that time my full focous on street stalls , last week lunch time we tried Hilal, we ordered ghee rice, because in zomato and people who are seating there and eating mostly ghee rice . We first ordered kalmi kebab, it was nice m. The my friend told me to try their normal chixken kebab, quantity they served was very good. Huge quantity , 3 people can share that. After finishing the kebab, our tummy filled. Price is very reasonable here. Ambience is okey okey, Every Time people will be there . Service persons are not upto the mark.
Hilal Is My Go To Place Post 1 AM. Its Crowded Even At 3 AM. Bheja Fry,Mehti Chicken,Punjabi Chicken,Kababs,Ghee Rice Etc Are Really Good Here. Love The Taste & The Prices Are Fine. Don't Miss It If You Are Hanging Around Late Night.
This place is situated opposite to the beef and pet market in shivajinagar. I always ordered butter chicken,ghee rice and KP (that's my favorite). Even the kebab here is worth a try. The best part of this restaurant is you that can get food 24x7. All in all an awesome experience.

Ghee rice + mutton chops + chicken kebab + anything else. It will be like drugs!! Make you happy for reasons beyond understanding.
Don't go if you have women who are wearing anything shorter than 3/4ths in the group.
Heard quite a few times that there are restaurants that are opened at night in Shivajinagar, so thought of visiting it, reached here at around 3 am, fully crowded, waited for 10 min, ordered paneer butter masala, ghee rice and kerala parathas, it was tasty, price is okay, service is fast, you will feel like it's evening 8 pm by seeing the crowd..
It was the sudden plan to visit this place. We went around 1 in midnight and the place was like it was 8 of the morning. All the tables were occupied by the customers and we had to wait for around 10 mins. We ordered the kabab,and the quantity was unbelievable. It was fresh and full of taste. It is the best place to visiting in midnight and having delicious foods.
Been to this place to satisfy nightly hunger cravings. Reached there around 2 AM. Even at that time, we had to wait for around 10 minutes to get an empty table ! Heard from people that this place always remains crowded at night.
We ordered butter nan, lacha parathas, ghee rice, Hyderabadi Chicken, Chicken Nawabi and chicken kabab. They don't give you a menu, instead the waiter dictates the items that are available currently and you choose among them.
Food was pretty decent. Nothing extraordinary. Price was rock bottom. For 6 people, the bill was around 1300 bucks including water bottles.
So if you are in Bangalore and looking for a decent place to satisfy your hunger at the dead of the night, drop by here.

Visited this place at 4am in the Morning as we were really hungry after the party. Ordered Jeera Rice and Chicken Kabab. Turned out to be the best Jeera rice I've had. The Chicken kabab was so tasteful.
had been here before and recently. Previously the place was really horrible, dirty and i always felt uncomfortable eating there  but after renovation it is good enough to enjoy the awesome food there. Must try the mutton chops. I have picked the mutton chops many times, its the must eat , no where in Bangalore I have tasted such mutton chops. But yeah,  you cant expect sophistication in service. Just for mutton chops 4 stars.
Came here at 4am. The place looks really good now after the renovation. I ordered rice and chicken kebabs. The rice was not amazing but the kebabs were good.
Had been here on eve of Eid...the atmosphere around was awesome...we had gone there at around 11pm in the nite to experience the crowd the fun and frolic...it appeared as if it was evening 7... thousands of people all around enjoying the last iftar..we decided to go here to have our dinner..all the floors were almost full..we got a place to sit in the 2nd floor...had tangdi kabab,stick chicken,mutton chops,chicken lollipop and ghee rice and Haleem...I must say its awesome..the tangdi kabab was my favourite...to my surprise it was the fried version of tandoori chicken..and I loved it...but yes it's very heavy... quantity is really good..we order 2 plates each for all the chicken items...and hogged and hogged...all this for 1.5k...we were 4 of us...I really liked this place...due to the crowd and the air conditioner just working as a fan we felt a little claustrophobic though...all in all a nice experience...you can experience it's popularity when you see the crowd that pours in...

Lots of tasty dishes here such as chicken methi, lamb chops, biryani, etc... We usually like the roomali rotis. Service is also very efficient. Ideal for late night / early morning hunger attacks. Only issue is the location is a little shady so women may feel uncomfortable. If this restaurant was in a better location with upgraded interiors it would really make headlines.
It's one review in which I would give a 0.5 for sheer sentiments that i have for this place. Having spent 10years in Bangalore this place has best quenched hunger during college and weekend late hours. Yes the location is not great but then that hardly matters for late night foodies. Any day a much better option compared to mediocre Empire food. Pick of the lot is Chicken Tikka Masala, the most well done gravy I have had here. Butter Chicken Ghee rice form a great combo. Although the quality had gone up and down at times, but after 10 years if their is one place I would love to binge at 2 am it's Hilaal. Don't forget to have the tea in opp shop to complete the entire experience.
Its a shady place as you enter, they have a /c section on the 1st floor. As it was highly recommended I tried the Butter chicken , did not like it much though. I would recommend Tandoori Chicken Masala and definitely not to miss their Sheekh Kebab - These kebabs are the BESTI have eaten so far. So succulent and tender it melts in the mouth. Subtly flavored and right out of the embers makes you blissful. I was here to taste the Ramzan spread and the Sheekh Kebabs made my day - A Must have!

Though this place is not hygienic and well maintained, This place serves one of the best Mutton sheekh Kababs and Mutton biryani.
The biryani was perfectly cooked and the Sheek kabab was soft and very tender. The wonderful combination of spices and whole spices were Perfect! and the marination was so perfect that the taste of mutton was BEAUTIFUL and Tender in the biryani!
A must if you are still awake after midnight. Famous for it's Ghee Rice & Butter Chicken. Bhuna Chicken is a must try snack. Lively place for college goers and for people who return home late from office.

Am talking about the late 90s and early 2000s ( poor next gen kids!!) when there were few but great choice of pubs and clubs operating till wee hours of morning!
Hilal used to be one reliable source of grub for club hoppers like us. Easy on wallets and satisfying enough to fill our tummies post the exhaustive night outs
Though that kind of nightlife is a passé now, Hilal continues to rule the nights with their decent offerings.

This is one among those old hotel standing out in the taste for kerela and ceylon parotas with chicken masala. The place is not tidy and if you can hold yourself with mineral water, you can relish t food. Bheja fry and other chicken varities are too great, but for non-beef eaters, this place might be a challenge. Priced reasonably and the serving is generous.
A parcel service which you need to fetch from the kitchen is not welcome to do so.

Pretty much the same scene as Grand Hamza Hotel that's just up the road. I go here when Hamza's is full. Order the boneless butter chicken and ghee rice and / or kerala parota. The combination is awesome and don't forget to ask for the free gravy. The paan outside is okay.
Absolutely love the food here. The Tandoori Chicken Masala is the best Chicken dish I have had in my life (and I have had a few and then some!)

Don't go there if you are high on cleanliness and hygiene. The place is unhygenic (it's in shivajinagar) but the taste is worth it. Also, it's open through the night.

well if u are in bengaluru and hungry late in the night there is one place to go HILAL in SHIVAJINAGAR. well its like the chandni chowk of bengaluru.the narrow streets remind you of purani dilli but dont expect too much.
to start of BHUNA CHICKEN is very nicely roasted but could have been better.the all time favourite is BUTTER CHICKEN and GHEE RICE.which is full of masala and not sweet at all.if you eat beef then there is a shop just next to hilal serving beef pepper dry just for 25 bucks.
to end it all there is the famous SAVERA TEA HOUSE serving normal milk tea and sulaimani.try it if u are hungry late night.
Went for a late night dinner. Food was amazingly tasty. Mutton pays soup as starter was awsome. We had Ghee rice, Mutton Gurda, Mutton Bheja Fry and Mutton Pepper fry. Taste was amazing. Dont expect a fine dining experience, but food tastes awesome and you will really enjoy the food.

I just love the food at this place . Having the Special Butter Chicken here since 2003. But last week I had been to this place . But saw it was closed. Is it reopened or not. Kindly please update.
I remember the days when hilao biryaniâs used to be the best in shivajinagar famous too. But lately prices have increased. Not blaming the quality of their food which is five star. And very good by the service we received. We were made to wait for tables because it was around late night and closing time. Chicken 65 briyani rice and chicken kebab tastes good but quantity was great it's just too much. Mutton in biryani was well cooked but rice seemed like it's overcooked.. not expected from this outlet. Consistent on the food taste is amazing. The efforts of the new hilal restaurant to improve customer service is commendable. All the staff are extremely courteous. Very tangible change in the way they have improved the customer experience. Good to see the changes. Recommend visit with family

4 AM we went here. Like a normal restaurant it was open and operational. Not a fancy place look n deco wise but food is everything you will care for. Absolutely delicious and worth every penny. We ordered the best of the best from the menu: ghee rice, bheja fry, mutton pepper fry, dal, kabab and kerla paratha. Can't wait to go there again.

Right place to satisfy your mid night cravings. I have always liked the food here, my favourite is Paya, Kerala parotta, beja fry, ghee rice and Kebab. Kebab was a little over-fried this time otherwise everything was great. The ambience is not up to the mark.
Had beef Biryani... taste was ok. Taste was ok. It was not hot so the meat fats had become buttery ... service was ok but the cleanliness was not up to the mark.
Visited during Ramzan and it was amazing to eat so many varieties of chicken and Mutton. Especially Mutton Haleem, Stick kabab and Mutton sheikh. Ate stomach full and it costed only Rs. 300. Staffs were patient enough to explain what the dish is all about and how it is made. They also had iftaar party upstairs.
Only disadvantage is you will have to stand and eat or you need to take away.

It's been 18 years since I have been here but I still remember going there at 3 am every night for butter chicken and ghee rice. I have been round the world but nothing comes close to the food that I had here. One of my best college days memories!! I hope to go there when I am visiting India next time.
