This is the best Donne biryani I have ever had in Bangalore. Now chicken biryani plate is Rs140/- which is a bit higher considering the small rice uses but if you look at quantity its unparalleled.

I used to be fascinated by the aroma of the biryani here when ever i used to pass by tis joint , so finally decided yday to try it out and to my surprise was not disappointed. The chicken biryani tasted very nice and the chicken fry was gud. Nothing great abt the ambiance. I knw ppl talk about shivaji etc..but for ppl like us who stay on tis side of the town I guess tis is the best and not to mention we also have prashanth as well.

Very nice biriyani...brought back memories of biriyani made at home when I was kid. Take away is the best option as it's just a room with 5-6 tables.
Nice decent place for some really good biryani cooked with south Indian flavour's. I went on a Saturday so couldn't get mutton. I ordered for a chicken biryani and chicken fry.
A perfect meal. Some may not find the biryani that great as taste coz its made will south Indian flavour's such as coriander, mint, coconut; its not the mugal kind.
As a foodie you go don't wanna miss this :)

UPDATE - so I've been eating here regularly for over 2 years now. Still kickass. I need to update my all time favourite, the mutton biriyani and chicken fry. Soft, piping hot mutton in spicy rice. Spicy, oily and extremely tasty chicken fry. All this Umesh serves with a smile, and the entire experience is something to look forward to. For any self respecting biriyani lover, the mutton biriyani is must try at least once. Keep going Umesh!
Umesh Donne Biriyani - I call this a biriyani with a soul. No frills operation, no ambiance whatsoever, virtually no service, not even a decent name board for the restaurant. You can see the room that someone decided should be a kitchen. Out of sorts waiter. Common water cooler kept in a corner, in case you'd need water after eating the spicy dishes. So in short, there is a lot that should be wrong with this place. But it isn't. The food is simple, wholesome, and damn tasty!
The cook knows his stuff, and also knows that he can sell as much as he can make. Usually, his food is sold out by 2pm. That's a good sign. I personally feel the chicken in the biriyani is a bit dry for my taste. I'd rather have the biriyani rice with the chicken fry, this is a match made in the kitchens of heaven. The chicken fry is my favourite. I have not yet been fortunate enough to taste the mutton biriyani, it was always sold out even before I reached there. But the chicken biriyani is great too. 1 biriyani, 1 chicken fry, 1 coke. Nirvana.
Here is a place where all sorts come to eat, you'll find office execs, taxi drivers and true foodies all licking their fingers. This is one kickass biriyani.

Having noticed this little place many a time on my way home, I was intrigued by the name "Donne Biriyani". Finally one afternoon I venture into this place.
This place is located on Kodigehalli Main Road, just a little after Sterling Apartments. It is a really small but non-stuffy place, with a seating for just about 10 people. It is bright & white, the result of a fairly recent renovation (from a few months ago) & paint-job.
As the name suggests, this place is only about Donne Biriyani - Chicken & Mutton. Donne refers to a cup made of dried plantain leaf -> the "vessel" in which the Biriyani is served. The Biriyani itself is quite unlike any other Biriyani that I've come across till date. The rice is green in colour (long-grain Basmati of course), quite a strong taste of the masala with a discernible bayleaf influence and soft pieces of well-cooked meat that often falls off the bone easily. I guess the meat is steamed separately at first & then added to the rice towards the end. Nevertheless the flavour is imbibed well and not overbearing.
One & only one additional item here is what they call Chicken Fry, a pretty tasty dish, that seems to have been sautΓ©ed in oil along with masala & onions, giving it a bare hint of oily gravy . Not the deep, oil-fried version.
The place seems to have become very popular and is always crowded during lunch hours (from 12:30pm) and the Biriyani usually gets over by about 2pm. Takeaway is a better option in that sense.
VFM:- Rs.120 for CB & Rs.70 for Chicken Fry.
Quantity :- Quite good.
Taste :- 7/10.
Ambience :- Hole-in-the-wall type of joint that's quite clean and well maintained.
Verdict :- Recommended.
This place undoubtedly serves the best biriyani and chilli chicken in the city!! I'm always in search of good biriyani and I've tried quite a few restaurants including donne biriyani points and this one is the best!! The chicken biriyani and chilli chicken are absolutely delicious.. I usually get a plate of just the biriyani rice as well.. It has a pale green colour but the masala is really well absorbed in the rice.. So not at all bland! Although the approach is kinda shady and one might question the standards of hygiene, the guy who cooks and sells it makes sure that the place is clean and tidy.. This place is NOT recommended for dine in.. It's best to get take out and eat it at home.. I'd give it a 5 but the place loses marks on ambience.. Give it a try for sure!!

A neatly prepared biriyani in jeera samba rice. Chicken quality is good and pieces are also generous. It's a great combo with mutton chops or chicken fry.

Once upon a time it was my favorite place. Sine covid he increased the price(as meat cost went high) but dint reduce later and he reduced quantity almost by 20 to 25%.
Tastiest donne biryani in bangalore
Biriyani was top class with good quality tender chicken pieces. The chicken fry wasnt as good, too oily, no flavours, just tossed in oil with masic masala. I would suggest Biriyani, its really very delicious.

Best place to have a good and decent Donne biriyani in Bangalore North. My first visit was in 2014, n till date there is no change in taste, quality or quantity. Hop on by 12:30pm to have piping hot biriyani n the spicy chicken fry
