One of da most popular Chinese spots in town. It has a lovely menu. All da items r delicious wid a very cozy ambience to go wid it. Lovely décor adds on to da ambience of da restaurant. Staff is cordial. It is a part of da Marion Hotel. Location is right Infront of da Ram Mandir which makes it very easy to spot. Not very tightly packed all da time. A gud place for families and couples.
I had a wonderful time there eating food with my family. Ambience was ok not that great but each and every bite that we tasted was amazing. Starting from kimchi salad then we ordered Manchow soup, Parsley fish, Crispy chilli mushroom, veg momos and soda sweet lime. Among all my fav was manchow soup, parsley fish and momos, oh momos was too fluffy and soft, one should definately go for momos. If you want tasty and quality food, then price would definately be high. Even if it was costly restaurant I will definately visit this place again.
A great place to dine at. You will have a wonderful experience. Ambience is awesome. Complementary Kimchi salad is fab😍. Every dish we ordered had such depth of flavour and everything was flawlessly seasoned. Price is a bit high and I would expect Shanghai to price it's dishes competitively considering burgeoning Chinese outlets in the city which offer better value for money. But having said that, it is after all a gourmet restaurant and you will surely have a memorable time here
Very good place for Chinese and cocktails...large space for dining.. balcony space for smoking... restaurant is always empty whenever i have visited..I like this place very much...
Food was definitely good but goofups by the waiter confusing with food items along with dropping while serving. Moreover ordered 2 plates but was provided with one and half(strange experience ever). On enquiring was provided the rest. Staffs need to be trained a bit more . Hopefully will be back next time with 5 stars :) #PadThaiNoodles was Yum :)
The only authentic Chinese Restaurant not only in Bhubaneswar but in Odisha. A must visit place atleast once. The Chef here is an artist who loves his work.
Ambience is very good...
Authentic chinese food...
Cocktails & foods are awesome...
Specially schezwan singapore noodles...
Hookah not available...
Best for peoples who loves chinese...
Price is on little bit high side.. as a part of Marrion you can expect that...
Food is tasty...
Wide range of food & drinks available...
Waiters are very supportive...
Highly Recommended!!!
The decor was nothing eye-catching but sober and pleasant. Service was quick and staff were congenial. Tried their lunch buffet, chicken fried rice, chicken noodles and sliced chicken with oyster sauce. Food was delectable. From the appetizer (chicken manchao soup) to the dessert, loved all their items. Dessert was the best part, their darshan with scoops of vanilla ice-cream is a must-try for all dessert lovers. Though slightly skewed on the expensive side, this place leaves you with the desire to visit again.
The ambience is good.... Staff is courteous.....the food is ok and is too much for the portions they serve.... Overall a decent experience and one more down from the wish bucket
Intro : When I entered got a feel of a restaurant which wants to maintain the old charm " authentic Chinese " positioning interiors colour theme - vibrant red - good feel
Food :
Chicken Kung Pao
Veg Fried Rice
Chicken Kunpao- Well made , tasty and typical Chinese preparation
Fried Rice - Good stuff - quality and quantity of rice was decent
Good place to have Chinese cuisine. We had the prawn burnt garlic soup. It had generous amount of prawns. We also had khawsuey, a Burmese dish. It was well made. So give it a try😀
Visited couple of times. Good place to have Chinese food, nice ambience and friendly staff. Make sure to specify how much chilly you want in a dish before ordering anything chilly ;( .
Ate here as i am staying at the New Marrion. Came heavily recommended by dear friend. Tge crab fried rice and the sizzling platter chicken was very good. Will come back again. Thanks for the food.
It is one of the best chinese restaurants in Bhubaneswar ! Very very costly, I mean I cannot make myself spend unnecessarily if taste and quality wont be at par. I have been here once. I loved their service and courteous nature of waiters. They served us yummy welcome drink and we ordered oriental noodles , prawn in choice of your sauce, we chose butter garlic sauce and seasoning chilli chicken, spring rolls. Noodles were damn yummy, spicy with loads of vegetables, portion size was pretty good, prawns and chicken both tasted good, no complains at all, the way I love my chinese ! Now coming to spring rolls, it was ordinary, taste was ok, but too oily and less crispy, this one disappointed me ! I would go once more I think! I love the place, ambience, just not the price !
Went there for a late lunch with my parents. Waiters were very helpful with their suggestions, and service was very good overall. Had manchow soup, sliced fish in hot garlic sauce, mixed(chicken, egg, prawn) chowmein ,and mixed fried rice. Food was very nice and reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend it to anyone interested.
A real Chinese restaurant!!Nice service, ambience, food and everything seems nice to me here.. The pepper onion chicken is the best of all the dishes I've tasted so far.. The taste is really perfect..A bit high priced but worth the money!!!
Good place, I have been going there for the past few years and their quality has been extremely consistent. The food, the service, the interior everything was and still is pretty good. Its a nice place for dinner. Usually its not very crowded and is very peaceful.
One of my constant fav places at bbsr...Every cuisine is ultimate, ambiance is great, environment is good....they make delicious THAI cuisine, the taxes tho.
Located in front of Ram Mandir, Shanghai express serves Chinese cuisine. The starters are good. In main course clay pot chicken was a star. The quantity is sufficient. The service is excellent. A good place for fine dining in Bhubaneswar.
This place is good if you want to have a good time with friends and family. The prices are a little high but the food is quite good. The staff is well trained and very courteous. The interior is quite good too.
A little expensive, but worth the money. The food is good. It has the tag of the famous Marrion brand. The ambience and the other aesthetics is flawless. But the food wouldn't stand out when compared to other Chinese joints.
Food was a bit spicy to my liking so had to change once but on second serving it became bearable. Taste is okay. Ambiance is nice so is location.
It is a modest fine dining restaurant in the heart of the city. Shanghai Express has a decent oriental style interiors, light music and good staffs. The quality of the food they serve is good, I had to get a dish returned as the chef had accidentally made it too spicy, they gladly got a fresh one which tasted better. Overall, it is a nice place for a pleasant dinner.
7 years back.. this place could have been called a fine dining place..but now, even by Bhubaneswar standards, Shanghai Express is nowhere near to fine dining!!.. Nevertheless, it is still one of the few good places to eat at!! The interiors of the place is done up in a way to give a kung-fu feel to the place..!
They start with a mango flavor welcome drink.. you can easily skip it!! the lemon coriander soup, veg and non-veg, both were thick..very starchy.. not at all good!!..
The main course- the fried rice and the clay pot chicken were good!
The staff are polite and courteous...but the service speed is slow..!
Chinese. A cuisine that is widely available throughout the lenght and breadth of the country, yet is one of the most misunderstood ones . At Shanghai Express, however, they understand chinese and are really passionate about it. The ambience and the music sets up the mood of a chinese experience. The food lives upto the expectations as well. The crispy honey chicken was so well cooked that even after finishing our lunch, we were still debating if we should have ordered another of those. The right amount of crispy without being hard and the right combination of vegetables and even the pineapple added a good flavour to it. The panfried noodles was excellent as well. Although the service was very good, I was rather disappointed about the way they served out the complimentary dishes, while they served us a glass of fruit punch only, at the next table they served kimchi. That was the only disappointment in an otherwise truly excellent chinese experience.
Have been here twice since I have been at Bhubaneswar. My first tryst with a restaurant in BBSR is thus and mind you... It has indeed been good. From starters to soups to the main course, they have managed to keep sino as sino. The service is a bit slow though but the ambience makes up for it. Almost...
Been going to this restaurant every time I visit home.
Ambiance- 4.5
Food- 4.5 (0.5 less for one noodle item that was not as good as I has "expected")
Service-3.5 Little slow
Quality- 4
Price- 3 (More on the higher side)
My best so far- Everything that I have tasted so far! And I bet on the fried ice cream! *nom* *nom* *nom*
Keep up the good work, guys! :)
I believe this is the the best restaurant in Bhubaneswar for authentic Chinese food. Their three season vegetable and Green Valley, and the singing chicken has no match as far as the city is concerned.
One of the older establishments in the city, this place has been serving good Chinese cuisine since ages. Although newer and better restaurants have cropped up all over the city, this place remains a favorite among a lot of folks looking for a authentic, classy oriental meal and is still in fact the best Chinese place in this part of the town.
Location: The New Marrion lies in front of the Ram Mandir on the Rajpath and cannot be missed.
Ambiance: As already mentioned, the lighting and the seating has been kept keeping in mind a relaxed, oriental theme.
Food: Now the menu boasts of a lot of complex preparations, but even the simplest of dishes is made with a lot of flavor and aroma.
Some of the recommendations are:
1. Lat-me Kai : A Crispy preparation of shredded chicken sauteed with onions apt for an appetizer.
2. Chilli Chicken Sausages: Classic chilli chicken preparation but for sausages, an interesting but a delicious preparation.
3. Chilli Garlic Noodles: A sweet and spicy preparation for all the folks who like their noodles hot.
4. Noodles with Crab Meat: A more plain preparation of noodles with the taste of tender, delicious crab meat proving the focus of the dish.
5. Chicken in garlic butter sauce/ Chicken claypot - A not too spicy preparation and provide a perfect complementary sidekick to the chilli garlic noodles.
If you're sweet tooth is tingling, then just walk over to Confetti - their pastry shop.
One of the best Chinese restaurant in Bhubaneswar. Food is of quality and it is of perfect for Indian Chinese palate. Ambiance is cool and also located nicely. Service states its own standard. It lives up to its name. Gourmet Chinese.
One of the best chinese restaurants in bhubaneswar.I think i was more satisfied with the food quality and service and ambience than in mainland china. The noodles were yum.So was all the dishes.Bit highly priced, but while exiting you will feel it was worth it.
Serves very delicious Chinese food at a fair price but the ambience and service needs to be improved a bit.
The soups are the most satisfying.
Recommended.
Without any doubt whatsoever, it is one of the best places to have Chinese food at Bhubaneswar. I agree it's a bit expensive but the one time I went there, I loved most of the stuffs we ordered. It has a great location on one of the busiest roads in the town. Right from the decor to the management, everything was just about perfect.
