Probably the cheapest food joint in entire North Goa and hands down one of the best. Food in Goa is NOT cheap. A lunch or dinner for two at any given place will start from INR 1000 and can go up to INR 2000, depending on the place.
It is here that I had the Balchao, Xacuti, Cafreal & the famous Recheado items. These curry items are all made from indigenous goan spices. Ranging from mildy hot, to too hot, these frangrant spices are heavenly and will leave your taste buds wanting more.
A perfect lunch is the Goan Thali. Or you can just opt for a Xacuti or Balchao. Be warned, it is enough for 2 people and is best enjoyed with steamed rice.
Lunch/Dinner at Carvalho's (in Calangute) cost me INR 500 or below for 2 people (including double servings of drinks). So compared to other places, this was quite cheap and there was no compromise with the taste.

From my observations, it's one of the most likeable place enjoyed by many locals as well as the foreigners. The outlet gets busy at some times especially during evenings, but nevermind they have all covered.

Chicken satay in peanut sauce- this dish melts in your mouth..the chicken is soft and so easy to break..they serve this with peanut sauce which is bang on and both blend well!
Pomfret fry- the fish was fresh and soft..they give you fries and salad along with it which is a decent amount of food
Chicken pasta in white sauce-yummy dish..the sauce was bang on..along with a nice mix of pasta and chicken
Fries-normal french fries
Milshakes-chocolate and mango(this is the only thing I wouldn't recommend)
Its a nice small place to hangout with friends. Staff is very friendly and atmosphere is very cool. Little congested space but very much pocket friendly.
I had drinks, chilly chicken and butter chicken.
Chilly chicken was average but butter chicken was one of the best I had in some time. Its a must try.

Well I love to eat here, everytime I am near calangute I make sure I atleast eat once here, this time we ate once and took parcel the next day. If you love spicy food, u surely need to try the calamari masala fry, cheese pakodas were awesome too.. It's not on the menu, bt asked for it, so they served it, very cheesy and the batter was light and had some mint on it. The tandoori was good too.

Good Food and Pocket friendly; these two words sums up my dinner experience at this place. The place is very easy to locate right next to the main road, has an open and airy seating arrangement. Ambience is okay, mostly crowded, not too loud music. Tried Chicken Caffreal, mixed seafood noodles and pasta. Quite authentic Goan taste.. Food was amazing along with chilled beer. Had a pretty satisfied tummy and heart without burning a hole in our pocket. Do visit; good place to chill and enjoy some sea food and goan delicacies.

One of the best places on the Calungute stretch to dine. Best food, you got to try out the American Steak and Chicken Lollipop as well as the chicken crispy. Breakfast can also be an option here but they do not have an extensive menu for it but everything that they have on menu is cooked to perfection. Loved the place and would recommend and visit when ever we are in Goa.

I moved to Goa for a month for work purposes. So, I was trying to find a place that I could tag as my 'The Go-to Place'.
That's when I walked into Carvalho's one day. It is a decent place with brilliant music playing all the time.
The best part for me was their budget menu. It is so amazing to see that I could have my Budweiser each day for just 80/- and not a penny more. No service charge. No additional taxes. That... Was the USP of this place for me.
Then, I tried food. It is absolutely brilliant. I've never had to point anything about the food. It has always been bang on. Again, decently priced. My favorites for the three meals I have over there are : Masala Cheese Omelette, Aloo Paratha, Calamari Crisp, Chicken 65 and Chicken Xacuti (A goan dish).
Yet, the best part about this place is definitely the people here. They'll keep a check for everything being good at your table while maintaining your privacy, that is a skill in itself. Very polite, considerate and will be happy to recommend you delicacies and drinks.
This place also serves hookah (sheesha) and allows smoking.
Do try the Cashew Feni. It's a local spirit of Goa. Mix it with Limca and you'll have the perfect Goan drink for yourself.

The food is below average apart from some dishes like chicken 65, chicken aachari which are worth trying. The chicken and prawns fried rice is the worst I had there.

Prawns Goan Masala Dry: Prawns starter cooked in Goan style. Succulent mid-sized prawns covered in spicy Goan Masala. Absolute bliss! Still can't get over this dish. Highly recommended. Though the quantity (8-9 prawns) was less for the cost charged.
Chicken Cafreal: Must must try dish. Authentic Goan dish with flavours of mint, green chillies and lemon. Served with a side of rice. Had this dish atleast 4 times during my stay. Highly recommended.
Chicken Xacuti: Another Goan dish. Orangish gravy. The gravy served here was a bit similar to Cafreal. Don't know if it's supposed to taste that way. Nevertheless it tasted okay.
Chicken Steak Sizzler:
Chicken steak served with veggies and gravy on a bed of rice. Presentation was picture perfect. Tasted delicious. Enough for only one person.
Chicken Angara Kebab:
Chicken pieces marinated in spicy masala and grilled. Tasted good.
Chicken Crispy:
Just another desi chinese dish. Tasted slightly better than other restaurants. Sufficient quantity.
Chicken Satay:
Long pieces of chicken served on sticks, covered with peanut sauce and grilled. A bit different from other dishes. Go for it if you don't mind peanuts.
Naans:
Quantity per serving is more. One naan has 5-6 pieces sufficient for an low appetite person.
Banana pancakes:
Light fluffy pancake stuffed with banana slices and drizzled with chocolate sauce. Neither too sweet not too bland. Just the right balance.
AMBIENCE:
The place is always buzzing with people, a majority of them foreigners. Peppy music plays in the background as people sit along a bench overlooking the road with a beer in hand.
The tables are a bit small but the atmosphere more than makes up for it.
SERVICE:
The quality of service varied on different visits. Some waiters are attentive. Some waiters had to be called again and again over the loud music.
VERDICT:
One of the best restaurants in Calangute in terms of quality of food and their prices. Never had a bad dish here!
The atmosphere is loud, chilled and touristy.
Ignore the service. Go there for the food and vibe.

Been reading the reviews which seemed good so I thought I’ve got to try this place and I wasn’t disappointed. I’ve never had a paneer dish before but thought I’d give it a go and I loved it. I asked for all my food to be spicy and all dishes came spicy including my riata so a big thumbs up for listening and providing what I wanted.

Nice place, visited 4-5 times during my visits in Goa. Ordered chicken jafrezi, chicken cafreal, rotis, chicken chilly , chicken schezwan rice. Taste was really really good compared to price .staff was quite good and friendly but the service is bit slow as it is crowded most of the times. A must visit for all kind of North Indian, Goan and Chinese food.😊

The place was decided for dinner on a short notice. My friends were interested in eating authentic Goan food as always so we chose this restaurant. The seating is good. The waiters are most of the time glued to the TV. The menu covers multiple cuisines. The service was good and a good option for dinner in calangute.
We wished to order Pork Vindaloo but he informed us that the masala is spicy. I requested him if it could be made with less spice for which he disagreed. I somewhere feel he shouldn't have said no. Tourists have heard Vindaloo as one of the preparations that tastes good and I have eaten a less spicy vindaloo.
Pork sausage chilly fry: They stir fried the pork sausage perfectly and it was not chewy like the usual ones.
Squids Goan masala fry: I am pretty sure they use racheardo masala to fry these squids. It was good but very spicy. We know Indians love spicy. But I somehow I feel the spice should be controlled basis the customers requirement.
Tandoori roti : perfect
Chicken Mughlai: A must try. Chicken peices cooked in green masala and egg beaten and poured in d gravy. The egg complimented the chicken gravy well and enhanced it's flavour.
Chicken Cafreal: A must try. Authentic flavour of the cafreal served with portion of rice. Actually I didn't want rice so I asked if it could be adjusted with rotis for which they said No. Why serve rice if a person wouldn't want it. No issues.
Overall good food, nice service and would visit again some other time.
Cons:
Compulsory portion of rice not required.
Cannot reduce the spiciness.
Waiters glued to the TV more than customers, they were watching the movie 'Tere Naam' lol.

The place has average ambience both during day and night time , but the food is really great. I have visited this place quite a few times...and their chicken vindaloo is my favourite. The service is fair enough.

This restaurant is on the way to calangute beach. No fancy ambience but loved the food. We ordered Portuguese beef steak and fish steak in butter garlic sauce. The service is bit slow but no complaints on food.

It was late and after a bit research on Zomato we decide to try out this restro. Ambiance is nice, small cozy place with dimly lit light above the tables. We ordered around two starters - Chicken tikka and Chikken chilli. Chilli was nice thought tikka smelled like gasoline. For main course we ordered Biryani which was good. Carvalho's (4-Oct-16): Good place to have couple of beers, some of items mentioned in menu may not be available, only chicken and fish were available when we visited, we tried Chicken Steak and Chicken Cafreal both were good (just good not great). Don't go by online menu on Zomato, it's not updated.
Pros : Beers are comparatively cheaper compared to other bars. Food is good. Located on main Calangute street, so easy to find.
Cons : Some of the items in menu were not available. If you have a four wheeler, parking might be a problem in peek hours. It's good place, however nothing exceptional, It is recommended by Zomato as well, wondering why ?
It's worth a try if you are around the area and nothing much to do or waiting for someone while there are shopping.

Nice place right in the centre of Calangute market with lovely food (right below CCD, just in case)
Simple sitting arrangement, with limited people working.
We went for lunch, and we ordered Prawns Rava fry as a starter, and King Fish curry along with steam rice for main course.
The prawns turned out to be nice and crispy layering just made it more tasty.
The king fish curry was good too.
I would recommend this place for good food.
We had gone there on our first day of goa trip. We stuck to typcial Indian before beginning our goan extravaganza and ordered butter chicken, chicken mughalai, chicken masala. They didn't disappoint us at all with their food but the service was pretty slow. Maybe because we were a group of 11 people. Expect a good meal but not quick service if you're visiting in a group!

I visited Carvalho's about 4-5 times while staying in Calangute. Very nice place with good food and affable. I tried there some Indian chicken dishes, also tried fish steak, naans. Recommend to visit it!
Food was simply awesome. The portions served were a bit small but the taste was totally worth the price. And hey! Forgot to tell you the the price of everything was very very reasonable. I am non vegetarian but I ordered vegetarian food. Palak Paneer in particular was too nice. One sweet dish called 'BEBINCA' which is a local sweet dish is totally worth trying. I would suggest that if you are coming here, dooooooooo try BEBINCA. I suppose that's it. :D
This place is near CCD on calangute beach road. Carvalho's serves goan, Continental, Indian and Chinese cuisines.
I visited twice to this place for lunch, for first visit I tried chicken steak and chicken cafreal. In second visit I opted for Indian cuisines... Ordered butter chicken, biryani, crispy chicken, garlic nan and apple juice.
Each and every dish was good. Cafreal was boneless chicken pieces cooked in a cafreal goan curry served with rice was very delicious. Chicken Steak in pepper sauce was not the best one but it was good. Indian cuisines were also prepared pretty well which I was not expecting from them. Butter chicken was sweet and rich tomato gravy goes pretty well with garlic nan. Biryani was OK.
Service was slow but they already conveyed us while placing an order so its OK.
Will visit here again to try Chinese and update my status.

Well dis plc is a hidden gem in the streets of Calangute. The staff is lovely and always smiling and food is to die for. Prices are very reasonable compared to other plcs in calangute. During our 4day stay in Goa, we had 3 meals here. Must try are the English breakfast,bacon samdwich,cheese and bacon omlette and prawn balchao. Quality of good is really good

Abu, fantastic. Really good lad that kept everything running as one would expect. Food, phenomenal. Butter chicken to die for. Loved this place. Also great for people watching.

Loved the place and it's jam, Food was delicious and as per our request. Admire the way staff over there are swift and very polite to all the guests. They made sure every guest was comfortable throughout the time. Will definitely recommend my circle to give it a try.
Half a km from calangute beach the place is small yet busy with forign customers.reasonably priced and great service.Great vibes amazing ambience they hav wide variety of items..regarding the food i feel its ok considering the location..must try if u visit calangute its very difficult to find better resturant there..
Best bar i ever visited in Goa atmosphere was good. It looks expensive but surprisingly rate was low. Staff was really good. I liked it
They don't have much option in booze. But overall ambience is good. Chill vibe with good taste. And you can get most of the foreigners in this restaurant. As it is said that this is very old restaurant.
If you are a seafood lover this place is the best.
Must try Squids, Crabs, Pomfret, King Prawns in Goan style. Morning breakfast with French Toast will give you a great start ahead. For Veggies do try out Penne Mushroom Pasta and never the less for non vegetarian it’s all time the best.

A variety of mixture of Indian, continental and vartity of foods under one place, the place is small yet busy with more overseas customer and it's requirement of its taste, liquor adds options for customers, people love food and it's taste and it's getting popular day by day, dishes have good balance of veg and non veg varities and the presentation is also appreciated

Food is good and economical (almost Rs. 250 per person). The view and location is pretty good too. Almost half a km from Calangute beach. Looks of this place is a tempting one. Its almost a hybrid between mumbai and European bars. Situated right on the main road this is a good option if you are in Calangute.
Had some beers and chicken 65, was really spicy and tasty. Will go back to try more dishes

It is favourite to both the foreigners and the locals to relax with their drinks and finger licking food both during the day as well through the night.

Small place.. Can be missed or overlooked unless you have checked online. Food is very tasty. And service lil slow but good over all. Good place if you just want to sit and catch up on match or any such or just see the market buzz. No AC. Just fan so if you're expecting something fancy then no.. Else to go place .
